Ways to Be More Creative When You Stop Thinking Too Much, Improve Your Writing and Wow Colleagues

Just one of the biggest problems when you are attempting to be creative is that you are just thinking way too much. If you stop obsessing about the project, or problem, you may find you suddenly get those flashes of thoughts that provide you with your solution.

Sometimes when you emphasize a problem you limit your thinking process. Rather than letting your mind lose train of thought you unconsciously set boundaries. The end result is that you become stuck and lack ideas. The very best way to overcome this is to stop any paths of resistance. Allow yourself the opportunity to think creatively. Don't quickly hunt for a solution that seems practical. Instead look out for something out of the ordinary. When you carry out this you are allowing your creative thinking ideas to roam freely. Don't always hunt for the cut and dry solution. Check out the problem from all angles and let your mind wander.

How many times have you been totally stuck on a project? Whatever you did nothing worked. You finally quit in disappointment and move on. When you come back you find the solution within minutes! This is what can happen when you stop overthinking things. It can also aid to approach things from a different way of thinking. If you need to write a short story or report for an assignment. Don't stress over the best ways to write it to achieve an A. Instead concentrate on writing a report or story that will wow your supervisor, management or even teacher plus your colleagues.

Taking pressure off of yourself is another important phase in increasing your creativity. The minute you add strain or a cutoff to something important, it immediately becomes harder to achieve.

One way to avoid overthinking is by planning out your project and how you are going to tackle it. If your project is going to require a ton of research and then writing, break this down into segments. Deal with the research portion first. Then once you have all your notes in position you can then start the writing process. Again, don't expect to write a perfect original draft. Let your thoughts and ideas flow and just get them all written down paper.

Once your initial draft is completed you can begin to revise and edit your draft copy. Continue this process until you are satisfied with your results.

By not overthinking, mapping and using a detailed process you can really discharge your creative gift on the world. The ideal way to overcome this is to stop any paths of resistance. If you need to write a short presentation or story for a report. Don't worry about how to write it to get it perfect, or an 'A'. Instead focus on writing a story that will impress your audience, whether its readers, managers or a teacher and your peer students.

Once you have all your notes in place you can then start the composing process. Again, don't expect to write a perfect original copy but use this first draft to review and plan improvement.
