Fl-Opportunity - When Opportunity, Costs (By Luke Corden)

I was watching a show the other day where famous peeps get their portraits painted while giving an interview.

This week it was Aussie comedian, musician, director; Tim Minchin.

He was big in the UK. He's big in Australia. I don't know how well known he is in the US, but he was a whisker away from nailing Hollywood too. Then it was all ripped away.

Here's the story:

At the peak of his comedic success in the UK, Dream Works came-a-knockin' with the opportunity to direct an animated movie following the adventures of a Bilby and a Kangaroo across the outback.

Tim jumped at the chance, assembled an all-star Aussie cast for the voices, including: Hugh Jackman, Ben Mendelson, Damon Herriman, Jackie Weaver, Naomi Watts & Margot Robbie!

Basically, the best of the best of the best actors in Australia, and enough star power to make the movie an instant hit.

Tim talks about the time, and attention put into it.

3 and a half years, with "half-hour meetings just discussing the dust on the texture of a leaf", or "the colour of the red dirt in the Australian outback"

I've no doubt it would've been a rip-roaring success, but three and a half years into production, Universal Studios took over DreamWorks, and Tim got a phone call.

Some suit, on his first day, called up Tim and said:

"They didn't know if it was going to be a hit or not."

So they just killed it. And that was that. All that work, gone.

Tim reflects that there were two things he's struggled to come to terms with since:

The first thing was dissonance.

He couldn't understand how an external power could take away his art. I imagine this is how people feel when they build a business on Disgracebook, only to have it ripped away with no reason.

The second thing he struggled with was all the things he said No to during that time.

His family, numerous tours, he basically retired his comedy career just as it was peaking to put everything into this project, only to have it deleted in a phone call from someone he never even met.

This is an important realisation.

Opportunity cost is everywhere.

Every time you say Yes to one thing, you say No to an infinite number of other opportunities.

It reminds of the story Jim Carey tells about his father who was a really funny guy, and could've been a great comedian himself.

Jim Says:

"My father could have been a great comedian but he didn't believe that that was possible for him, and so he made a conservative choice. Instead, he got a safe job as an accountant and when I was 12 years old he was let go from that safe job, and our family had to do whatever we could to survive. I learned many great lessons from my father. Not the least of which was that: You can fail at what you don't want. So you might as well take a chance on doing what you love."

Wise words, indeed.

I think doing what you love instead of what's safe is a solid sentiment to take into 2021 after the year we've all had.

I think Tim Minchin would agree, but he might add:

If you build something, create something, invest in something - make sure you own it so it doesn't end up as a costly flopportunity.

Our Freedom of Choice

No one has power over our minds!

Regardless of our current situation and experiences. Regardless of our heritage, our belief systems and values, or our historical conditioning through religion, family, society or education!

It doesn't matter where we have been or where we come from, our minds are our own!

Unfortunately as a result of these influences, factors and experiences we do not exercise our freedom of choice as we should, and for the most part we default to our existing state of conditioning, which unfortunately is more often than not limited to an inferior level... a level way below what our true potential can accomplish!

FORMULA FOR OPTIMUM SUCCESS AND OUTCOMES

For every situation or dealing, we are exposed to, we find ourselves presented with the following equation:

EVENT/INTERACTION + RESPONSE = OUTCOME

  • The event/interaction. Better referred to as a stimulus, could be either negative or positive. In fact, most of times they are neutral events imposed upon us by an external force or a person, known or unknown! This is an action that is commonly referred to as 'happening to me'. This is something we have no control over.
  • The response. This portion is all us! This is what we do following the event or interaction being imposed on us. This is entirely an internal driven, individual action.
  • The outcome. The resultant condition, emotion, environment or atmosphere that pervades when all is said and done.

In order to develop a deeper awareness, we can take the above equation and expand on it as follows:

EVENT/INTERACTION + [FREEDOM OF CHOICE] + RESPONSE = OUTCOME

We can develop the awareness that we have a window of opportunity, regardless of how small it may be, to make a choice prior to issuing a response.

This choice will determine whether we react or respond, how we perceive the EVENT/INTERACTION along with the importance that is placed upon the it.

Whatever happens though, we have to engage our Freedom of Choice and take better control over what influences we will feed into our response and therefore have a greater impact on the collective outcome.

INCREASED AWARENESS EQUALS INCREASED EXPERTISE

As this mindfulness of how our freedom of choice can greatly influence our outcomes, it is important to begin to develop an understanding of what influences our freedom of choice.

These can be:

  • Our awareness of the situations or environment that the person, group, or external influence is coming from or exposed to.
  • Our awareness of our own capabilities in relation to what we are being confronted with in conjunction with an awareness of how the interaction or event will impact on our own personal situation.
  • Our existing level of knowledge in relation to the
  • Our understanding of the other people or groups that have initiated a response.
  • Our beliefs. Do they correspond to the influence or are they being challenged? Will our beliefs be compromised, exposed or validated at the outset of the interaction?
  • Our Expectations. Are they being met or are they being let down or subordinated to some degree?
  • Our desires. What are we pursuing, both big picture and to the short-term needs and requirements? Does this interaction move us into the path or vibration of our desires or is it a disruption, negative or positive?

Effectively the influences over our freedom of choice in the situations we find ourselves in is going to be dependent, largely on the resources we have absorbed or utilised over and also the capacity we have created for ourselves through study, personal development and self-improvement study!

THE BENEFITS AND BLESSINGS

The value of positively engaging our freedom of choice can progress our situation and move us into a more focused and healthier vibration.

This can be demonstrated by:

  • Serenity: we can maintain a wonderful composure that demonstrates a higher level of wisdom and self-control! Knowing that what others impose on us does not affect us, if we choose and this in turn reinforces a wonderful confidence in ourselves as well as our progressing abilities!
  • Not being rushed: following from serenity is an expansion on the composure we radiate by ensuring that the appropriate time for all things is taken. This helps us greatly from 'blowing a fuse' at the smallest thing!
  • Peace: in harmony with serenity is the peace and stillness that pervades within our mental and emotional capabilities.
  • Humility. Knowing, that with an increased awareness is that we are not better than the initiating person or force, just different and this position of humility allows all confrontation to be broken down, but also (in a positive interaction) allows us to know that we can always learn and grow, and therefore harvest the best learning experience possible!
  • Discipline. This is a vital benefit as without sound discipline, self-control and the ability to learn new skills will not manifest. The disciplines we can radiate will be apparent as follows: All our actions are aligned to our specific purpose. We improve in our bbility to set meaningful priorities. There is an ever-increasing ability to sacrifice the good (instant gratification) for the great. We do not give in short term emotions at the expense of long-term growth!

So, I encourage you to take a deeper reflection on your current level of self-control and grow in the understanding of how this can always provide an advantage... regardless of the interaction!

At invinciblemind, we believe in the unlimited potential of the mind and are striving to share the life-changing effects of a renewed mind!

Is The Grass Really Greener On The Other Side Of The Street

Is the grass really greener on the other side of the street? Do the people over there that you observe day in and day out; have more fun, better relationships, more rewarding careers, fewer problems or just have better lives in general? Are they content or are they looking at your side of the street wondering the same things about you? If you switched sides would both of you be any happier? Have less stress? Find your life's dream in the front yard?

Consider for a moment - maybe the grass is greener on the other side of the street because they are using better fertilizer, weeding more often and watering regularly. Maybe they are just taking better care of their lawn (life) than you are. I'm sure I don't need to give you hundreds of words and unlimited illustrations for you to get this simple analogy.

Most people are searching for only a few fundamental things in life. I believe the significant ones are to be loved and to give love, acceptance for who they are and who they are becoming, appreciation, validation, respect and the opportunity to be happy, successful, safe and content. All of the other stuff you and I say we want - and the list is far too long to share here - is often just an elusive dream.

It could be time to start doing a better job of nurturing your own lawn, garden (life) than the people you seem to envy are doing.

Having been in front of over a million people in my global audiences over the years I can tell you that after hundreds if not thousands of discussions everyone wishes they had something better or different in their life, career, finances, business or relationships. And yet - they keep searching outside themselves for the answers, solutions or results.

Suffice it to say that you will never get everything you want "out there" until you do a better job of fertilizing, growing and nurturing your "in there." What are you searching for now or have you been looking for, hoping for or dreaming about for years that is still evading you or that is missing in your life? Let's take a brief look at just a few of these:

Love: Everyone wants to love someone and be loved by someone. It is a deep yearning in every heart, the desire for real and lasting love. Not just romantic love, not egotistical love, not superficial love, not manipulative love just real unconditional love from the heart.

Acceptance: I believe everyone wants to feel like they are o.k. just the way they are, that they don't need to change anything, according to your expectations, to be accepted by you. I can be me and it's o.k. You don't have to like it, but you can learn to accept it or live with it. No one was put on this earth for the approval of others.

Yes, we all can grow and be better, wiser, smarter, nicer, etc. but that's up to us and not those in our lives.

Appreciation: Real appreciation, given from the heart with no agendas or expectations is one of the real needs of the human spirit. Appreciation says you care, are aware of what other's do, are interested in showing them that they matter.

Everyone does something every day for others and I guarantee that they feel they should be appreciated for it. I am not saying here that you should spend every waking minute giving appreciation to someone who is insecure, needy or egotistical.

No matter how much you give them it will never be enough.

Validation: There are so many ways we invalidate people. We interrupt them, we forget to do things for them that we promised we would, we don't listen to them, we do all of the talking when we are with them, we don't give them credit for having anything worthwhile to say, feel and we take credit for their ideas. We constantly say to them: you should, why don't you, you need to - this list my friends is endless. One way to know if you are with an invalidator is: how do you feel when you are around them? Do you like yourself more or less when in their presence? When we invalidate others, we say to them - you don't matter.

Respect: Not everyone will go to the moon, invent a cure for cancer or become a billionaire but we all deserve the respect of others regardless of our race, education, religion, age, looks, etc. This doesn't mean we agree with them or even like them, but respect is not about liking or loving. When you judge another person that doesn't define them - it defines you.

So, let me ask you - is it time to buy some more or better-quality fertilizer for your lawn?

Stop Forcing Things To Happen And Relax Into The Knowing, It Is Already Happening For You (By Tony Fahkry)

It's Already Happening For You Behind The Scenes

What are you trying to make happen in your life right now? Is it a relationship you're hoping will develop into something more, or a business venture? Whatever it is, I want you to get a sense of the emotions felt when you think about the situation. I'm not denying what you feel, but I'd like to help you explore another way to get what you want without forcing it to happen. You probably know that forcing things to happen seldom works out. In fact, the more we push and strive, the less it happens for us. Many people give up at this point and turn their attention to something else, which is when their desires manifest.

Can you identify with this? I have a fond memory of this experience in my 20s, following my graduation from design school. I completed a Bachelor of Arts in Fashion and was keen to work for a particular luxury fashion house in my state. I sent repeated letters, enquiring about a potential career within the organisation, yet nothing came of it. This went on for two years, and eventually I grew despondent and stopped pursuing it. Within the space of six months, I received a letter from the marketing manager, saying she had kept my letters on file and there was a position opening up that would suit me. She invited me in for an interview and I immediately got the position! I couldn't believe my luck because I was adamant that if I did nothing to chase this opportunity, it wouldn't eventuate. Earlier on, I was trying too hard to force things to happen, which worked against me.

Whilst I realise it's difficult to put into practice, we must learn to relax about how life develops. Chasing and striving are signs of desperation because it communicates an energy of lack. What I'm saying is: it's already happening for you behind the scenes, when you allow yourself to relax. Life is an intricate system, with millions of processes taking place beyond our senses. Sometimes, when nothing is happening, it is because there's a hive of activity occurring behind the scenes. So, when things go quiet in my life, I get excited because I know the universe is planning something wonderful. Think of a chef working in the kitchen without a sound and then suddenly, they come up with an exquisite meal in no time.

Coming From A Place Of Non-Resistance And Trust

The universe functions according to its own framework, which can be likened to an intricate web, governed by universal laws. When we assume things aren't working out, we are not seeing the entire picture unfolding in the backdrop of our lives. With this in mind, are you content to relax and know it's already happening for you? Could you allow yourself to drop into this knowing and trust you are taken care of? I know it's difficult to believe when you don't see things happening in your physical world. But I'm inviting you to trust the process because when we change the way we look at things, the things we look at change. Life takes on a new perspective because our old paradigms are not working. This is what Albert Einstein meant when he said: "We cannot solve our problems with the same level of thinking that created them in the first place." We must develop a new consciousness in which to overcome our problems.

A carpenter cannot build a house using kitchen utensils. I know I'm stating the obvious here, but they must use the correct tools and building practices to assemble a home that complies with building regulations. The same is true for bringing to life our deepest desires. The tools of our trade are our thoughts and emotions, which means learning to collaborate with harness them into our desires. So how does this practice work in actual life because I get asked this question often by coaching clients? It involves the art of detachment, meaning separating our desires from wanting them to happen a certain way. We become less invested whether or not they happen because we trust the universe to bring us what we need according to its timeline, not ours. The psychiatrist and consciousness researcher Dr David Hawkins captures this idea in his book Letting Go where he writes: "In a freer state, that which is chosen manifests in our life effortlessly. We surrender the emotion of desire and, instead, merely choose the goal, picture it lovingly, and allow it to happen because we see that it is already ours."

Operating from a place of non-resistance is a wonderful way to live because we allow life to unfold as it should, instead of pushing for it to happen. Therefore, your romantic interest requires detaching yourself from an intended outcome and relax into the knowing that whether the relationship develops, it is fine either way. This is when your life will soar because things will happen for you when you come from a place of non-resistance and trust. We can summarise this principle in the following way: Trust = Love. So, we ought to trust and have faith life is already happening for us, but not in the way we expect. Knowing this, as a journal prompt, list three areas of your life where you are trying too hard? Could you learn to trust things will work out for your highest good, even if it doesn't look that way now? Life is functioning exactly as it should and will bring us what we desire, as long as we align our thoughts with universal intent. It is when you recognise life is already happening for you that everything you need will arrive beyond your wildest dreams.

How To Be Lucky, In My Reality (Opportunity Knocks)

Opportunity comes in work clothes and looks like lots of work, and ends up a genuine opportunity, right? Most of the time. When I thought of the premise of this article, I thought of all of the opportunities to grow and genuinely win that have come to me in life that sort of looked like set backs at first. In my life I have had much to be thankful for, and not lament about ultimately. Sure, I admit, that sometimes I do complain sometimes, indeed. The way I generally look at things though, the smarter I work, the harder I work, the luckier I genuinely am. It is in the order I just mentioned, too.

Smart work includes self-observation and honest and unbiased self-analysis. So, I do my best to look at the bitter as well as the sweet with objective and honestly realistic eyes, including letting myself feel the complaints and stuff, letting them go through me without getting attached to them.

For example, I told the story about my sister who passed on a few years ago without fear, attachment or genuine bitterness like I usually do to so many who ask about her to me. That is a prime example of what I am writing about. A person should not let bitterness or fear fester within you and become a "beast", it should be handled correctly and with class, honesty and realistic patience, understanding and tolerance.

The other day, I was reading an anecdote in "The Law Of Success" by Napoleon Hill about tolerance with the picture of intolerance in the form of two male deer with horns interlocking trying to impress a female deer, and ending up dying with horns locked while that female deer moved on. That is how life really is, if you do not have tolerance for reality, you really do have nothing but bitterness and the sweet, good things can never enter or grow to enter the heart of the person wanting to end the bitterness.

So, opportunity comes in work clothes and looks like work most of the time, and to grasp it, we need expert knowledge like the diamond miner who recognized the rough state of diamonds in the Russell Conwell essay "Acres of Diamonds" when he went to the Kimberley Farms where the diamond mine was and recognized the stone where the farmer there just thought it was just a "pretty rock".

So, reality works like this, you (and anyone) needs patience, understanding and tolerance to recognize "luckily" any genuine opportunities life has to offer or miss them. Myself, not being one to mince words of play games with them, I can only end with, I have patience with me, I understand me, and I have tolerance with myself and all of my "stuff". That is most fortunate of all for me in my reality.

When You Emerge From Your Home, Will You See Your Shadow?

Most people are discovering a "new normal" and have changed habits and goals. While every day may seem like the movie Ground Hog Day, you can pull several excellent lessons from this 1993 classic.

The movie Ground Hog Day stars Bill Murray as Phil Connors, a TV weatherman and Andi MacDowell as Rita Hanson, news producer. Phil has for several years been assigned to this small town to report on the end of winter, Groundhog Day with Punxsutawney Phil.

Phil sees this small town as beneath him and sees himself as above all of this. The next day he wakes up at his hotel as if the day before has not happened. He is in a time loop, an endless repeat of the same day!

Does this sound familiar to you?

Does every day seem like the one before?

What are you doing to improve your life and that of your family during these dark days?

Are you moving items from your someday list to your do it now list?

At first Phil doesn't accept responsibility for anything, and lives like a college freshman who just received their first taste of freedom. He indulges in binge eating and drinking, reckless driving, one-night stands, and robbery. Each day has no consequences, as if he is in a time loop.

The Realization:

Phil has always had an attraction to his news producer, Rita. He tries and fails to court her and is depressed and desperate to end the loop. He also tries to kill himself and even kidnaps Punxsutawney Phil.

The most valuable take-away from this segment was that he decides to pursue something he wants, instead of talking about it... even if he fails.

What are some of the things on your someday list?

Have you begun learning that musical instrument or language you have always wanted to learn?

The Transformation:

Phil chooses to take responsibility for himself and his actions and decides to better himself and take action on the items that have long been on his someday list.

On Phil's list was to learn to play the piano. He takes lessons on the piano, practices, and realizes he possesses musical talent!

He also has always wanted to learn French, so he puts in the effort and does. He learns to sculpt ice, he decides to help others. He begins by asking them questions to find out what they dream about and want! Then he begins helping them get it!

In a restaurant a man is choking and Phil steps in to save him. He befriends a homeless man, takes care of him, and takes him to the hospital.

He asks questions about the people around him wanting to know about them to help them realize their dreams. He helps them to show he cares about others. He's become a better man because of this "Time Loop".

How are you helping others?

Phil really likes Rita and asks questions about her to find out about her dreams and wishes! Rita sees the changes in Phil too!

During this crisis what are you doing to better yourself?

What are some of the things on your someday list?

That someday is now.

Do you want to learn a musical instrument?

Do you want to learn a new language? What about writing a blog to honor someone who has helped you?

Isn't this a perfect time for you to shift gears during these dark days and do something special with this time you have been given?

What books are you reading? How is that new musical instrument coming along?

The time to start is now!

What are some of the things on your someday list?

What are one or two things you want to do right now to improve your life?

Start now!

What would happen if you viewed these times as your opportunity days?

3 Things We Cannot Change In Life And How To Deal With Them

An Inconvenience Or A Real Problem?

There are many things in life we cannot change or control, which can be seen as a problem or an opportunity. We've seen this recently with the Coronavirus pandemic that showed how powerless we are. At the time of writing this, many countries throughout Europe and India are facing difficulties, with a growing number of cases and deaths. I don't wish to emphasise the problems in the world but help you make sense of them. Change weaves itself throughout life, and sometimes it can improve our life or disrupt it. I'm certain you've experienced changes throughout your life to know how unsettling it can be.

But how do we deal with situations we cannot change? It lies in our ability to adapt to it rather than control conditions. For example, if you've been laid off work because of the pandemic, you might be upset and angry. You have every right to feel this way, and you mustn't deny your emotions. But if we think on a larger scale, losing one's job is a minor trouble compared to someone losing a loved one due to Covid-19.

By reassessing our situation, we can zoom out of our life and understand that whilst our situation is difficult, it is not the end of the world. We may decide to upskill through further education and find work in other areas. But losing a loved one to an illness is tragic and there is nothing we can do. So, when we think we cannot change a situation, we ought to ask ourselves whether it is an inconvenience or a real problem? This helps us gain perspective, knowing there are others in the world experiencing more difficulties. With this in mind, here are three things we cannot change in life but deal with more effectively.

Change Your Perspective

1.  How Other People Treat You

We cannot control how other people treat us, and sometimes bad things happen to good people. If we judge life based on whether it is fair or unfair, we set ourselves up for disappointment. Life is doing its job of expanding, based on universal laws and principles. If others treat us unfairly, it is an opportunity to look within ourselves and change our response. In this context, response means whether we feel victimised or whether we use the experience to become more resilient.

It's a given, people will mistreat us intentionally or sometimes unintentionally. It is my professional experience that how a person treats you is not indicative of you, but what is going on inside of them. You've probably heard the saying: "hurt people, hurt people?" Meaning those who are wounded or suffer trauma cast their wounds onto others because of the pain associated in dealing with it.

If a person treats you unfairly, they are likely suffering a deep pain themselves. So how do you deal with people like this? It involves knowing your true worth and standing in your own power. It means recognising the other person's motives and to the degree you are ready and willing, forgive them for their wrongs. Similarly, it helps to set up boundaries and distance yourself from them, if you can. Is this something you're willing to try? Yes, I agree it is difficult but you're not doing it for them but to ease your pain and suffering, which is more important.

2.  Sometimes, Things Go Wrong

Sometimes, life takes an unexpected turn when we least expect it. People let us down. We lose possessions or people of importance to us. Our lives change suddenly, and we experience frustration, anger, and disappointment. It's natural to feel this way, but when things go wrong, rather than follow your problems, try to look for a solution. If we focus on our problems, they become expanded in our consciousness and we cannot find a solution. This is what Albert Einstein meant when he said: "We cannot solve a problem with the same level of thinking that created it in the first instance." Our problems cannot be solved with the same mind that created them.

So, when things go wrong, avoid dwelling on your problems, but change your perspective and look for the opportunity contained within it. For example, I'm re-reading a wonderful book called: The Art of Learning by the American chess champion, Josh Waitzkin. In one chapter, he tells a story of when he was playing international chess against the Russians. They would repeatedly disrupt his concentration during matches, such as kicking him under the table, making noises or leaving the playing table unexpectedly. Eventually, he learned to harness the distractions and improve his resiliency and become an unstoppable champion. It's about using your problems to your advantage, instead of getting swept up by them.

3.  Life Is Not Personal But Predictable

I've written in earlier articles that life is not personal but predictable. It doesn't have an agenda to hurt anyone because life is not separate from us. We are the embodiment of life and when we understand this, we gain the power to improve our circumstances. Life is predictable to the degree that our experiences hold pivotal lessons for our growth. Things will happen that you did not expect or cannot control. Naturally, you will get upset, angry and feel powerless. But this is when your unseen power emerges to respond to what is taking place. It is your response that determines whether you suffer or change your perspective.

No one wants to suffer because pain is difficult. Therefore, we have choices, and sometimes they aren't necessarily obvious. Naturally, we want to remove the problem causing us pain, but it may not always be possible. The only thing we can control is our attitude and our response. So, when difficulties show up and you cannot control or change it, see if you can change your perspective. It won't be easy and will require exploring deep within you to change your perspective. It will require stepping out of your comfort to change how you respond to what is taking place.

Keep Your Wits!

Realistically, some of the worst things on earth can turn into the best. For some, that may seem to be a stupid and insensitive thing to say, but, life is as good as we make it though in that aspect of perception, however we want it to be an outside job. Opportunity can come in the form of a problem, and really come in the form of a seemingly bad problem. So, I can only humbly give this advice: Keep your wits. Keep your wits, because, realities that are great problems can become great solutions if we are calm and solution oriented.

I think sometimes about the fact that life "throws curve balls, screw balls, and everything else" to use baseball terms. We always have to swing smartly at them, and even when a few misses and strikes happen, we must keep "working the bat until it connects with the ball".

Indeed, quitting the game is never the answer, but, approaching it differently always is.

I am only human, I get discouraged like anyone, but the difference is that I keep my wits about me, and try again later, regardless of the past, regardless of what others think of my failure, regardless of the "snap judgements of anyone". That is the only difference in character I have, really. Other than that, I am just another human being who rolls with the punches and blows.

However "bloody" life and existence gets, if you lose your wits, you really have lost everything, but if you keep your wits, you can achieve everything and anything eventually.

Writing and speaking truth to power and reality I can honestly say that happiness is always an inside job of perception, "stuff", material gains and simple "getting" does not make happiness, it is genuinely generated from within.

Reality is something we should not resist, but at the same time, it should not run us over and take us down. The ultimate weakness is losing ourselves in pity. The ultimate strength is being good to ourselves especially strongly, that is the ultimate keeping of wits, being good to ourselves first in life and existence, being the best for ourselves and heroes to ourselves for starters. The rest will add itself as we get it right within ourselves.

I remember when my Dad said, "The best thing you can be is honest, that is the golden gift to give people." My Dad may not have been the most "romantic" or "show-oriented" man in the world, but he was right about that at the very least.

Big Things Have Small Beginnings

This is a quotation from the book and film titled "Lawrence of Arabia." If you have not seen that film, I suggest that you watch it, and pay close attention to an array of characters whose lives sing. Mostly, the story is true. It seems that while the vast majority of people stumble through their lives and merely react to what happens to them, ever so often, a world-shaper comes onto the scene.

The thing about T. E. Lawrence is that he recognized at an early age, his ability to cause monumental change. In fact, read about him before you watch the film. See how a person of privilege, who seemed to be mediocre at best, identified the world that he would change, studied it, and prepared to enter it before an opportunity came that would allow him to plan how to do it. This is such out-of-bounds thinking from the rest of us. The rest of us, being those who are not the stumblers, are achievers of something, but probably something petty, something that enriches only us. Yet, it is rare to find such a capable person as Lawrence, who might achieve greatness for himself, yet he chose to help a people be great, and not the people with whom he was affiliated. In fact, British army generals and British politicians were convinced that he had done extraordinary things for Britain when he did them, but that was not true. He did extraordinary things in order to enable Arab people to reclaim independence that they once had.

Today, much emphasis is placed on technology, but what is technology without a human being to wield it? What was Lawrence's small beginning? He rode alone into the desert on a camel to meet with a local tribal leader. If he could not impress the Arab, he would be killed. He hired an Arab guide, and straight away, he listened to the guide, and he counseled him like a father might counsel a son. The two of them played a game during their journey, each trying to be the most moral. When Lawrence understood that his Arab guide greatly appreciated personal arms, he gave him his pistol, his only personal protection. Already, he reasoned that he was not going to accomplish anything worthwhile through personal combat, so he did not need the pistol. Instead, he would do great things through personal example.

From a beginning of no consequence, Lawrence created a consequence when he stood up to the Arab leader just after the leader killed the guide because he drank water from the leader's tribal well. At the risk of his own life, at the risk of any greatness that he might have done, Lawrence berated the leader for placing so much value on his tribal trappings and so little value on the life of a brother Arab. That was the small, but risky beginning of a great thing.

If you are going to do something big with your life, you must be all in. No one can find a flaw if you are true and transparent. Other people follow those who behave that way. They follow the sort of people who give meaning to everyone's life. The key to accomplishing something great is to be a true leader, and to plan and prepare to lead. That is how you and everyone else who follows you will do something greater than yourselves.

The Grasp

Grasp this: We all must grab opportunities when they come, or we all depend on luck, fortune, gambling and chance. I mean, genuine opportunity comes in work clothes that look like nothing to grasp, but the opportunity is there, nonetheless. All you have to do as the Aladdin legend goes is "polish the lamp well, at the very least, then out pops the Genie of opportunity." I can type it up for you, but I cannot apply the advice for you. "You must polish the lamp" and apply the advice for yourself.

We must think without prejudging and prejudice about opportunity. We must see the diamonds in the rough with patient uncovering instead of impatient and unrealistic thinking that the opportunities will present themselves complete already.

When I think of the meaning of the words opportunity and education, I think of the reality of life being lived actively and not given to us easily. Especially a fulfilling life.

Why did my Dad live a great life, although it was short? He was honest with himself, and very realistic. My Mother, who is still alive, ascribes it to his simple and honest philosophy of living and dying. I give him this, his honesty could be ascribed to productively used common sense in many ways, but, there was more involved, I understand. He had an element of objective understanding to him that was genuine and rightly used. That is sort of rare, he could look at both sides of realities unemotionally and objectively when he needed to. Seeing things realistically is the greatest gift of all at times, especially without emotional polarization of seeing just one side as "good" or "bad". After all, it could be considered the ability to see, then grasp the genuine reality of a situation without taking sides until one is sure what is going on and why it is going on. I have the same tendency, I admit it, and I encourage it within and without myself.

I interpret things equitably and always strive to be fair and honest, not "good" or "bad" in all of my dealings. I did not say that I was or am perfect, but I do strive to be fair and honest in my dealings with people and reality. Grasping what it means to be that genuinely and in action also could be the best way to be, and I am striving for it always. So, in reality, there is not any "good or bad", but there is the best we can do, for all of us. Grasp that. I leave this on a seeming tangent, so you can draw your own rational conclusions, premises and realities. Thank you for reading.

Never Quit, Persistence Is The Way

Persistence attracts opportunity, with those three words, I begin this article. Sure, when you are exasperated, early quitting always sounds good, especially when it all gets "bloody" or hard. When you are tired, some of the greatest successes come after the next wind. I will not say "second wind", because it sometimes takes multiple streams of persistence to succeed, and not any streams of persistence, and just one try without trying again to genuinely fail.

The greatest quitter in the world is never known, because all quitters quit before they succeed or "make it". Rest assured, though, the greatest successes in the world are the ultimate seeming "failures in the beginning". From Gautama Buddha who spent seventy years "going crazy" trying to figure it all out from suffering in the world itself to the "biggest why things in the world" under the Bodhi Tree, to Jesus Christ who "ended" his ministry with assassination by Crucifixion, only to come back in an even better form ultimately, and have one of the greatest mass ministries on Earth bigger than anything else going on Earth. So, what is the greatest persistence in the world? It is one of us if we do not genuinely quit too early.

The only thing that separated Alexander Graham Bell and the rest of the inventors of the telephone, was this, persistence and a simple turn of a screw connecting a wire, also an understanding of vibration and consistency that matched nothing else going. Alexander Graham Bell understood vibration and consistency (knowing it would take a constant and not intermittent current to transmit speech over electrical wires), although it seemed simple, that turn of the screw was the difference between intermittent inconsistency and consistently and productively working, and what stemmed form all of this to full fruition?: Oh, just cell phones, every communication medium on the planet including radio and wireless gadgets like that we use every day. Even though Lewis Latimer really invented, drew and patented the light bulb, and not Edison technically, I genuinely give credit where credit is due and warranted, whatever the realistic consequences. This is what separates Christianity from the other religions in a sense when Jesus Christ said the simply logical statement: "Render unto Caesar what is the property of Caesar, and render unto God genuinely what is the property of God." in the New Testament Biblical Books of Matthew and Mark.

My point and synopsis is as follows, then I will end this article: To live in reality whatever the consequences is success. To follow through with a genuine path is success in every way. That is the synopsis. Success is guts, persistence and genuinely good work and little else. That is the point, take what you need from that, and make it work for you. Thank you for reading.

Designed for a Purpose

Purpose creates the existence of everything which we see. The things which are seen existing are in existence because of its purpose. Purpose must be fulfilled and so things are built to exist as a means through which purpose is fulfilled, that without purpose nothing will exist. Everything built was made with the purpose in mind which means that purpose makes the things which we see possible. This is quite a compelling understanding because with this understand we can fully be aware of the reason why things are made differently, why a shoe does not look like an airplane because of their difference in purpose which created the obtrusive difference in the invention.

PURPOSE OF HUMANS

Watching lives being lived without discovering purpose is one of the most disturbing views to watch. We live a confused life when we refuse to discover our purpose, denying ourselves the opportunity to live the life that is full of everything that is for us only. We exist to serve a purpose, it is in the serving of the purpose that we really are living and so to be unaware of purpose is to exist without living. Anything that lives outside of its purpose becomes useless to itself and others, like a shoe, if it goes outside of its purpose, it becomes useless, useless because its potential is not been used and it is in no way needful in a place outside of its purpose. Each one of us is created differently because of the different purpose we have to fulfill and so our innate potential differs. We are unique like it or not.

THE STRUGGLE TO KNOW OUR PURPOSE

There is a visible struggle that is seen in the very eyes of the ones who are frantically seeking after the knowledge of their purpose. It has in a way landed some people down the plane of search, put off the fire that burns for coming into purpose. In this stage of life, it is not all that goes into the forest that comes out with the revelation of their purpose. It is in the same look we have as humans that make it difficult to discover our purpose. A car and a phone, the purpose is obtrusive because we see the difference between them and we understand that our unique purpose makes us different but looking from the outside of ourselves, we look alike and that has left us with the struggle that has led many to die without fulfilling their purpose.

HOW TO KNOW OUR PURPOSE

It is imperative that we come quickly into the place of purpose to live our unique life more fully. Knowing your purpose is a solution to the confusion you encounter in your life, the mirror which you see the place you fit and the answer to why you are said to be unique.

The first step is to go to your creator. The purpose of an invention is in the mind of the inventor and so if you can't see the purpose of a thing, you ask the one who made it. It is therefore compulsory to go to God the one who created us to find our purpose. The seeking of God's face is the discovery of purpose and so to be in the inventors mind is to find your purpose. If you can get God to keep you in his mind by seeking him ravenously, he will reveal to you your purpose.

The second step is a form of self-analysis. Observing yourself from within to see how different you are from others because the differences is as a result of your purpose so the moment you look for how different you are from others, you open your eyes to discover your purpose. This leads me to a thought that your purpose is your true identity, that who you are is not in the similarities you have with others but in the differences, that is why when we try to fit in with others, we compromise the possibility of discovering who we are and denying ourselves the knowledge of our purpose. The ones, who really know who they are, behave differently and if not already living on purpose, can easily discern it. They are the most productive, impactful and effective individual in the world

To discover purpose is to be aware of who you are. It gives your life a sense of meaning and responsibility, a mission and vision. To live on purpose is to fulfill the objective of the one who made you.

It is possible to live a great life if you can live on purpose.
