Simple Steps to Everyday Life Management

Metaphysics is a complex philosophical concept that deals with the abstract and physical aspects of life. It is filled with inquiries into the self-identity and experience of the external world by an individual. These two aspects of life can help shape life in a much better way than the present condition. But this inquiry can become limited because of the limitations of an individual's mental and psychological conditioning within a specific community, society, city, and the country. Religious and ritualistic practices can also set limitations to one's thought process. The aim here is not to define or defy those limitations, but to know how to get the best from an individual's lifetime resources.

Meditation Could be Mindful

Existence is the first element that is features in Metaphysics. Everyone knows about their existence simply because they are conscious about it. As an individual focuses on the breathing and meditates deeply, it results in a sense of wellbeing within the mind. It helps in overcoming the regret for the past and the worries about the future. The present as such has no reasons to create fear in one's mind. Hence, the individual gets freedom from the burden of negative thoughts to a considerable extent.

But this feeling is not constant. The feelings of doubt and skepticism are bound to return sooner or later. There have been too many books about self-improvement and personality development. There will be thousands of them in the future. But how many of them have helped in bringing about the promised results? Hence, one can safely say, the answers are within the subconscious mind of an individual. S/he needs to explore within the self, rather than trying to find answers in the external world.

By meditating on ones' breath it could be possible to calm the mind and make it responsive to new ideas and practical implementation. The first task is to let go of the EGO (that says "I" know everything) into a state of I don't know. Then one can experience lot of opportunities opening up on the path. Keeping the mind blank like an empty canvas can enable a piece of art to be drawn onto it. One can explore innovative channels when open to learning. It is an endless process that needs patience and persistence.

The Conscious Vs the Subconscious

The conscious mind is awake during the day and rests during the sleep. It is the window to the external world through which experience and knowledge enter the mind. It is also the part which gets distracted and disturbed easily. On an average every individual 48 to 50 thoughts enter an individual's mind every minute. That is one thought for every second! The brain gets exhausted too easily and it can affect ones' heart also.

The subconscious is the part of mind which is hidden from the external world. It's only contact is with the conscious mind from which it takes feeds. As long as the conscious mind keeps feeding energizing thought, it remains healthy and active. Once the negation starts flowing in, the subconscious mind becomes numb and dumb. It is the most powerful device gifted to humans by nature. It can push an individual to the heights of the Himalayas, or it can pull the individual to the nadir of life.

The Mean Path is not Always Golden

The golden mean path is for those, who have attained the perfect balance in life. Imperfect people tend to go either to the peak or hit the nadir frequently. Faith (or belief) is the finest thread that holds the mind bonded to the core of life called existence and progress.

Belief keeps the desire to work more, earn more, live more, give more, and get more. Without this thread life becomes meaningless and hopeless. For those aspiring to be their best (not comparing with others, but with themselves) the path deviates from the mean and move up. As one starts climbing up the ladder of life, the temptation to turn back and look down takes over the mind. This is precisely when most of the people fall due to the fear of heights.

The key to progress is not to look back too often. Of course, reflecting on one's mistakes and achievements if required to direct the person on the right path. But it should not put the individual into the trap of self glorification or self-condemnation. This attitude can seep into the subconscious mind and spread its roots deep.

If one keeps traveling on the lines of the men path, the probability of slipping down to the negative side is more. Also, the individual is deprived of the satisfaction in attaining higher goals of life. Life has been a straight line to most of the successful people in the world. It is like riding on the sea waves. Ups and downs are common which have to be experienced.

Whose Game is it

Ultimately, it is the subconscious mind that could win the day for an individual. Hence, it is essential for the person to engage in activities that provide a deeper sense of satisfaction to the subconscious mind. It could be one's hobby, profession, or any other mean. Of course, sobriety and sanity are the two key elements that keep an individual conscious and confident. Once the sobriety is gone, the grip of fear and uncertainty on the individual's mind becomes more.

The grip becomes severe in cases of addictions that can lead to severe incidents of insanity. Managing everyday tasks like bathing, eating, and hygiene can become complex. Life ultimately becomes unmanageable. Hence, the individual may need to apply caution while getting used to any of the addictive substances.

Choosing to Believe

According to the expert psychologists, choosing to believe (in the science, technology, medicine, or the higher power) in something other than the self can work miracles. The bondage with the self gets cut off and one can experience relaxation. When examined closely, every individual believes in something (for example, one may believe in the existence/non-existence of god, hope/hopelessness, and positive/negative), regardless of personal characters.

Experiencing everyday life is the key to happiness, prosperity, and progress for the individual. Metaphysics can help shape up ones' life for better, when the mind is filled with chaos and uncertainty.

Do Something Great Every Day!

Want to change how you feel right now? Ask yourself, "what can I do great today?" Think about it. What's the one great thing that you did today?

Perhaps it was some great insight that you got from meditating or a newsletter etc. Maybe you did something to help someone else. Did you contribute to someone else's well being? Whenever you contribute something from your heart and soul to someone else and it makes someone's life a little bit better, you end up doing something great and that impacts how you feel. I call that the "benefit cycle'... quite the opposite of the "vicious cycle" which we all try to avoid.

After you've become aware of doing something great, you might begin to think "what else can I do today that is great?" That's the snowball effect of doing great things. You feel better because you have made a contribution to someone else's growth and well-being which, in turn, has a positive effect on you. Now, you are tapping into your creative mind and thinking about what other contributions could be great. The answer lies with you. It may be some creative endeavor. Perhaps it's just going outside and appreciating the wonders of the world and the universe. That's up to you. Use your imagination. Make it happen...

Check back over your life and make a mental or written list of all the great things that you have done and accomplished. Perhaps you've built something fantastic or created a fabulous family and some wonderful offspring. Many of us have a tendency to review only the "bad" things that have happened to us. They overshadow the great things that we have done and it ends up detracting from our happiness. Give yourself some credit and watch your mood change for the better.

It's too easy to come down on yourself for your shortcomings and your failures. It's too easy to think that you could've done more and you're not adequate enough or good enough. Throw the "Shouldas, Couldas and Wouldas" in the trash. That's your internal critic talking. What about your internal contributor? Don't forget to make that list.

What did you do yesterday or last week when you did something great and maybe even contributed something to other people and the universe? Here's what you can start to do:

  • Check it out and give yourself some credit for it.
  • Stop knocking yourself.
  • Drop the negativity.
  • Begin telling yourself a NEW story. One that is different from the way that you have talked to yourself in the past.

The world's a better place because YOU are in it. It's a better place because you have done some great things and tomorrow, the next day, you will do something great and acknowledge it.

YOU ARE YOU! Look at some of your mentors. You admire them because they made great contributions and did great things. You don't admire those people who have done terrible and questionable things. You admire your heroes because they have done something great. Become your own hero. Do something great right now, this very minute. You CAN do it.

DON'T sit idly by waiting for life to come to you. TAKE the initiative and DO something great right now.

Are You Justifying Your Safety and Money Worries or Getting Free From Them?

These days on our planet, two primary worries run rampant-safety and money. You wonder if you can move about safely and get the resources you need and want.

Because of world events in the recent past, you might feel justified in feeling afraid for your safety, security, and well-being. News and politicians tell stories of who is to blame and who can be trusted-and you side with the stories you believe.

Yet what if these stories simply justify your worries rather than offering relief? Politics generally operates as a fear/guilt/blame game-which is an endless circle leading nowhere. You only see facts that support your current viewpoint and vehemently oppose those who see things otherwise. Nothing changes.

What we need is insight into what lies underneath our worries and how to heal them. Applying mindful attention to my own insecurities, I've discovered four helpful insights that create positive change.

1. Acknowledge the part you play in what is happening by the stories you tell

How are you participating in perpetuating the way things are? Do you have worries about safety and money? Because of these worries, how are you assigning guilt and blame? What stories are you participating in?

The stories you participate in hold you captive. They can keep you stuck in fear. To get free, you need to identify the stories that buy into fear as a basic orientation.

For example, do you buy the story that the world is filled with people who want to harm you? Do you buy the story that the economy is rigged for those who have against those who have not?

If you follow the news, it would be easy to buy into those stories. As a society, we are fascinated with trauma and drama-and somehow entertained by it-so, that's what the news provides. However, if you pay attention to your daily interactions, do these stories reflect the majority of your experiences with others?

If those worries were justified, most of the activities you take for granted would not be possible, such as driving safely to work, standing in an orderly line for checkout, and enjoying a night out for dinner or entertainment.

I'm not downplaying the fact that many people suffer horrendous acts of violence. This certainly happens. There are things we can do to work for peace, safety, and opportunity for all. But, supporting a mindset based on fear, guilt, and blame is not one of them.

There are close to seven billion people on the planet. How many are intentionally harming others? Conversely, how many are doing the best they can to live a good life and make a positive contribution?

What does your direct personal experience tell you about the majority of your interactions? Are the stories you habitually tell about the way things are justified when you look at a wider range of facts?

2. Insert a mindful pause and stop feeding fear

You perpetuate your worries by justifying them. When things don't go the way you want them to, out of all the facts available, you will likely choose those that support the stories of fear, guilt, and blame you are in the habit of telling.

What if you choose not to do this? After all, if you keep telling yourself the same stories using the same limited set of worn-out facts, you'll keep reliving the same experiences. What might happen if you pause more frequently before you enter the fear/guilt/blame game and decide not to dive in with your usual opinions?

3. Feel the emotional pain under fear and forgive

When you choose to mindfully pause instead of jumping into fear/guilt/blame, you open space to feel what is underneath your insecurities. Underneath fear is emotional pain.

All of us have a history of hurt we would like to forget. All of us have had moments that made us feel threatened or poor. When in the past have you felt unsafe? When have you not had what you needed and worried about how and if you would get it?

Perhaps your parents or grandparents lived through wars or the Great Depression and passed on stories of danger and poverty?

Perhaps you pick up on the stories you've heard on the news... And, you don't want to be one of those victims you've seen on the news!

When you face emotional pain, are present with it, non-judgmentally-and just feel it-something happens. You realize you can handle it-especially if you stop telling a big story about it. When you stay present with emotional pain, it shifts. It begins to dissipate, resolve, and heal. You gain insight into effective action to move forward.

One of the most effective actions to move forward is forgiveness.

Forgiveness frees you. It frees you from hanging onto the past and letting it determine your present and future. It frees you from repeating the same old stories of fear, guilt, and blame over and over again. It frees you to live in a fresh new moment. It frees you to see life in a whole new light, so you can make new choices.

Who, including yourself, is involved in your stories of pain, fear, guilt, and blame? Is it possible you and they were just doing the best that you could, given what you all knew at the time and what you'd all been through? That's not saying that what happened was O.K., good, right, or that you condone it. Just the opposite. Yet, what if hanging onto that pain perpetuates it?

Are you ready and willing to forgive yourself and others involved in your pain, so you can move forward?

You may or may not be ready to do that now.

When you are ready-and choose to forgive-you open space for different possibilities to emerge.

4. Have compassion for yourself and others

Once you identify stories of fear/guilt/blame, decide not to participate, feel the emotional pain underneath fear, and forgive yourself and others, you may be ready to do something new.

It can begin with simple appreciation for yourself and others in all your diversity of strengths and weaknesses. Once you've mindfully experienced the emotional pain underneath your fears, you are more sensitive to the pains others feel. Being in touch with the pain underneath fear, you naturally feel compassion, rather than fear, guilt, and blame.

You feel a natural desire to appreciate others for who they are and what they've been through. Instead of going through the day looking for reasons to worry, you look for opportunities to love. Love is courageous action. It dares to stare down fear and replace it with compassion.

The more we act from love and compassion instead of fear, guilt, and blame, the more our planet becomes a safe and abundant place to be.

Enjoy your practice!

Rewriting Your Life Story

While going through a high period of stress your mind and body are often geared towards responding in fight or flight mode. Due to how pressured you feel, you reach a point where you are determined to change yourself to suit the circumstances better. Even after doing so, when you see no change in the behaviour of others or the situation, you decide that the only option left is to exit the situation and begin again.

This sounds like an effective step and in many cases, it is one that works. However, your life may not always have space and opportunity for you to remove yourself from a troublesome situation for good. When this happens, how can you address your mind's monologue that has decided that everything has been tried and giving up is the only option left?

Wouldn't it be better to develop an alternative narrative where you are kinder to yourself? Here are some ways to actively change how you tell yourself and others your story:

1. Use externalising language - The issue you are facing is not who you are, it is separate from your self-worth and capabilities, it does not define you in any way. It is something that is happening to you and affecting you."When this happens to me I get (... )", "This doesn't occur often but at certain times it decides to (... )", "It is very troubling and unsettling" are some examples of externalising language.

2. Considering social and political issues at play - Is this issue something many others are also facing? Look at what factors of this day and age make it possible for this problem to have the power it does over so many people.

3. Unique outcomes - Have there been times in your life prior to this when a different issue with similar qualities or similar stressors sprung up? If yes, how did you deal with it? Were there previous times when you were able to manage an older issue better than you are managing the current one? Look at what were some of the things you did then that could help you now. Doing this will help you figure out that you probably already have the resources to handle the issue.

4. Find a support system - It is important to have friends who are familiar with how you are rewriting your story and changing your narrative. Sharing your strengths that have helped you combat older issues before can lead to instances where your friends are able to remind you of these resources in times of distress. Sharing with them your new way of talking about the issue is also relevant because it decides how others talk to you about it, how you talk about it in the future, how they offer suggestions and inquire about your well being.

5. Expressive arts (e.g. painting and dance), and journaling are activities that continue to help in externalising the issue. This way, the effects of the issue do not seep into your personality as something that you find yourself constantly thinking about. The energy put into these activities is a way to channel your thoughts creatively, to give yourself the freedom and peace of mind you need to see things objectively and with much required distance.

These activities can help you in stopping to see yourself as the key reason that leads to disaster. By doing this, you are more likely to find hope and motivation to improve those parts of your life that you find are most affected by the issues you face.

Why Don't You Take Your Holidays?

I'm sure many of us will remember the culture of working long hours, always keen to be recognised as the first to arrive and the last one to leave each day. It didn't matter if the hours in-between were spent roaming offices clutching a file under one arm, looking busy. We were there!

These days, with so many of us hot-desking, working from home or on the road travelling from meeting to meeting there's no time to 'look busy' as we've often very little time to waste. In fact a recent TUC survey (2019) revealed that £32 billion of unpaid overtime was worked last year.

No wonder stress is such a 'biggie', costing UK businesses £40 billion in lost productivity, due to absenteeism, accidents and poor performance. Taking breaks and holidays is important in managing stress, self-care and wellbeing. Why is it then that 2 million workers, or one in fourteen, fail to use their full holiday entitlement?

Is there more pressure around? We all want to do a good job, protect our employment and see the business do well. With appraisals and performance reviews likely to affect our salaries and progression there can be additional concern to always be available and not open the door for someone else to cover our role, do a better job or maybe discover mistakes or inefficiencies.

When time away from work is so important why don't you take your holidays?

- Fear of missing out and perfectionism can mean that we feel stressed or apprehensive and uncomfortable at the mere thought of taking a break or holiday. We may really need time off but feel conflicted at the prospect of being unavailable for the duration.

- It's often the case that when we're constantly busy we focus our attention on dealing with the most pressing matters first. Why wouldn't we? But gradually the less demanding areas of our lives can fade into the background, with us trusting family and friends to take care of themselves. However, if we're frequently unavailable they can start to feel unimportant and learn to get along quite nicely without us.

- It's interesting that post-holiday is the second busiest time for divorce lawyers, with post-Christmas being the most busy. When we lose touch with our relationships we can find that spending a couple of weeks together highlights how estranged we've become. Taking regular breaks and holidays provides an opportunity to keep communications alive and improve those relationships, so avoiding becoming too distant.

- Be aware that stress manifests itself in different ways. There are a documented 360 physical symptoms of stress, potentially a new one for each day of the year! Learning to recognise your own warning signs gives you advance notice that it's time to intervene and take a holiday before things escalate and affect your health and wellbeing.

- One sign that you'd benefit from a holiday is when your creative thinking becomes less effective. You may find yourself going through the motions, working hard but not caring as much or concentrating as well, so losing the joy in what you're doing.

So, change your perspective on holidays;

- Decide how you'd like to spend a week or two, what you'd like to do whilst away. Whether single or partnered, with or without children it's important to include your wishes. Consider your needs as well as other peoples in any decision-making and stop being so preoccupied with what you'd be missing at work.

- Avoid using your holidays to catch up on chores. If you're not going away it can be tempting to decorate the house or sort out the garden. There may be some merit in allocating time for those things but equally find a location, hobby or interest that appeals; maybe a group holiday, one for special interests like walking, or even a retreat. Investigate what excites or inspires you.

- Use your holiday as time to really focus on yourself and/or family. Do things together that you enjoy and recommit to your relationships. Remind yourself that they're often the reason why you work so hard. Your intention was to make a good life and provide for them. Discuss ways to maintain fun and closeness post-holiday. Maybe sharing regular family meals, hobbies and interests could sustain 'us' time once the holiday is over.

- Appreciate that breaks and holidays should give space to switch off and distance ourselves from routine cares and stress. Often a break provides time to be quieter, distracted by other things, afterwards returning refreshed, with new insights and ways of doing things, perhaps even with a new perspective on a problem.

- Learn to switch off the adrenalin. We can become habituated to living permanently on red-alert, hyper-vigilant and programmed to constantly react and jump to attention at whatever is happening. Adopting a calmer, more relaxed approach helps you assess and choose to respond in a more pragmatic, effective way.

Switching off with breaks and holidays is an important way to invest in your ability to live life well. So make sure you take your holidays.

Zentangle - The Art of Untangling a Tangled Mind

"Are you stressed all the time?"

"Do you need to let out your stress and relax?"

"Is there a need to improve hand/eye coordination?"

All of these and much more can be done through the Zentangle method. The Zentangle Method is an easy-to-learn, relaxing and fun way to create beautiful images by drawing structured patterns. This method can be used by anyone who knows how to write their name. It helps increase focus and creativity and provides artistic satisfaction with an increased sense of personal well-being.

Zentangling is a formalized process that was created by Rick Roberts and Mary Thomas. It is a specific way to draw images, most often in black pen on white paper. The traditional practice of Zentangling is done on 3 1/2" inch square tiles made of special paper, but it can be done on any paper cut into squares or can be done on larger paper as well. The process of Zentangling may look very intricate but it is a very simple pathway to relaxation and focus. It is also called doodling with a purpose. Practitioners of this art form have given several benefits including calming an anxious mind, increasing self-confidence and creating moment to moment awareness in a similar way as mindfulness meditation.

How to create a Zentangle?

To create a Zentangle you begin with a pencilled frame and then draw a "string" through the frame to divide the box into sections. In each section you draw a repetitive pattern, called a "tangle." The meditation comes both in the rhythmic drawing and in reflecting on your work afterward. Some of the characteristics of the Zentangle method are: Deliberate Stroke: In the Zentangle way, each stroke is done consciously and deliberately. When we draw each stroke deliberately, we realized that how these insignificant strokes contribute to an overall pattern.

Deliberate Focus: When deliberate strokes are being made, the attention is on the stroke and not on the final product that will be made. So this leads to increased focus on the strokes being made and not thinking about what the final pattern will look like.

Unknown Outcomes: The Zentangle method allows each person to discover new possibilities that is not anticipated when we begin with the art.

Abstract: A Zentangle creation is meant to be non-representative with no up or down. Since it is not a picture of something, creators need not be worried about whether they can draw a hand or a duck. It is just the different strokes that form a pattern and finally an abstract picture.

No Eraser: There is no eraser in life and there is no eraser in a Zentangle kit. However, in creating Zentangle art, one discovers that the apparent mistakes made can be foundations to new patterns and take one to unknown and new directions.

Gratitude: Gratitude is the foundation of zentangle art. Whether it is appreciating the texture of these wonderful paper tiles, becoming aware of the patterned beauty around us or thankful for the opportunity to put pen to paper, we always return to gratitude.

Inspirational: The Zentangle Method's non-verbal language of patterns and proportions can open doors to insights which seemed locked before. Creating in a Zentangle way opens those doors, not because they were locked, but because those doors swing on non-verbal hinges. When you create in a Zentangle way you can enter a state of relaxed focus in which intuitive insights flow freely.

Ceremonial: Like in the Japanese tea ceremony, when zentangle art is being created, the person creates a personal environment of peace and harmony.

Portable: A Zentangle tile is 3 1/2 inches (89 mm) square. A Zentangle tile is designed to be completed in one sitting. A tile can be finished in as little as 15 minutes. Once the tile is completed, a sense of accomplishment occurs and more tiles can be completed in less time.

BENEFITS OF THE ZENTANGLE METHOD:

Zentangle Method is being used by many people for different objectives. Some of the benefits that people have experienced by practicing this method are:
• Relaxation
• Simple and quick access to mindfulness
• Non-verbal journaling
• Insomnia (improved sleep by creating Zentangle art before sleep)
• Self - Esteem
• Inspiration
• Panic attacks
• Modify Behaviour
• Being part of supportive community
• Nurture and develop creative abilities
• Relieve stress
• Improve hand/eye coordination
• Develop/rehabilitate fine motor skills
• Team building and group focus
• Therapy
• Anger management
• Addiction therapy tool
• Diet aide
• Increase attention span and ability to concentrate
• Home schooling
• Brainstorming
• Problem solving
• Design Inspiration
• Stretching and warm up for artists.

Personal Experience of practicing Zentangle art:

My personal zentangle story began in 2015 when a surgery to my ankle had me on bed rest for 6 weeks. As they say "an idle mind is a devil's workshop", the bed rest and immovability had my mind getting unwanted thoughts that needed to be put to rest. Since I was immovable and could not do much, I started exploring the internet for something that I could do while I am on bed rest. That's when I chanced upon the Zentangle art. I first started reading about it and was intrigued to try it. So one step at a time, I started trying out tangles from the internet and felt very relaxed when doing it. I became so involved with this art form and realized that even a day without doing the art made me feel like I was missing out on something. Though I was out of bed rest and working along with taking care of my family, I did not stop doing the art as it gave me peace and helped me relax and have some time for myself. On further research, I found out that only certified teachers can teach the art. So I started looking out for a certified teacher and took a class with her after one year of practicing the art form. The class was a huge learning for me on the nuances of doing the art. It helped me better understand the art form and what benefits it can provide to me.

Practicing the art has helped me in the following ways:
• Relax my mind
• Anger management
• Reduce mental stress
• Live in the moment
• Not think about what has happened or worry about the future.

Those Who Test And Trigger You The Most, Will Set You Free.

Sometimes We Cannot Escape Healing Ourselves

Take a moment to think of someone in your life that triggers negative emotions within you. I realise it may be unpleasant, but notice the emotions that arise when you think of this person. Whilst it is difficult to understand, this person is pointing you towards your healing. They are a messenger to help you identify your emotional wounds that require healing. I too have such people in my life and whilst I continue to work through my emotional pain, I can see the gift this experience brings to my life. Healing takes place in layers and often requires revisiting something we thought we had transformed. People often ask me: "How will I know when I have healed my emotional wounds?" When the person no longer inflames the emotions, they once triggered.

As I write this article, I have an image in my mind of a Band-Aid being removed from the skin when the healing has taken place. The reason this person provokes you is that you associate them with your wounds. For example, if the person triggers anger in you, you are likely to believe: "This person makes me angry." But they are not the source of your anger, they are the trigger for the anger already present within you. Does this make sense? Can you see how they are not responsible for your anger because the anger was there in the first place? I'm not suggesting it is your fault because we all carry emotional wounds. Those who heal deal with their wounds instead of allowing them to grow and fester, eventually find peace and harmony.

Sometimes, we cannot escape our own healing because we have no other choice than to deal with it. We may run away from the negative emotions or avoid the people that trigger our wounds, but eventually another person will show up who activates the same experience. We must experience the healing and invest our time to transform our wounds, to liberate ourselves from the darkness. You may ask: What does it mean to emotionally heal from a situation? Why do we want to heal our negative emotions? Healing means making peace with our darkness (shadows) and fragmented parts, by integrating them into the wholeness of our true nature. It means looking at them through the lens of compassion, and love so past traumatic experiences no longer dominate our thoughts and emotional wellbeing. It requires resolving anything from our past that prevents us living a joyous and rich life.

Running Away From Negative Emotions

Sometimes we don't know what is holding us back from living a wonderful life until we confront our demons. Is this something you've experienced before? Have you hit a point where the only way to heal your emotions is to face them directly? Emotionally healing means to liberate ourselves from the negativity associated with the emotions. So, if anger is our core wound from childhood, we will carry it around and when someone activates it, we retaliate and go to war with them. We blame the other person for hurting us when they are merely the trigger, and if you follow the trail, they will help set you free. They are your liberator, if you are willing to go to the source and transform it.

It is difficult carrying our emotional wounds because it becomes burdensome and we may experience an emotional crisis or worse still, a breakdown. For some people, they will run away from their negative emotions their entire life and blame outside circumstances for their pain and suffering. Whereas, the core wound has been within them this whole time, like an animal with a thorn in its paw lashing out at those who try to help it. But we are not animals, we are sentiment beings with higher reasoning and logical brains. Therefore, those who test and trigger us the most will help set us free, if we are willing to do the work on ourselves. If not, we will find every excuse to be victims and blame those who expose our negative emotions.

But as mentioned earlier, they are messengers pointing you towards healing and transforming your wounds. I've written in an earlier article, how the work is never easy and sometimes it will ebb and flow. It will push and pull us and just when we think we've had enough, it will yank at us another time. We may be exhausted, angry, frustrated and even disillusioned, however we will also experience realisations and awakenings about ourselves. I've been fortunate to heal and transform many core wounds from my childhood and whilst I wouldn't want to go through the process again, the triggers no longer dominate my life. The negative emotions do not own me because I have made peace with them and seen them for what they are; a smokescreen protected by my egoic self. So, whatever emotional triggers are present in your life, instead of blaming others, trace the pain back to your earliest recollection as a child and gradually heal the wound because your emotional freedom is worth it.

Joy - What Brings It to Our Lives?

No one expects to be happy through suffering hardship and troubles. But of themselves, an easy life, good health and fitness, do not mean we are necessarily joyful. Joy is surely more than just being born with a sunny disposition. More than just experiencing the joy of one's sports team scoring a goal, or feeling a sense of joy and pride in one's home. What then does bring joy to our lives?

Joy from worldly pleasure?

You might place a bet on the lottery hoping for great wealth. However, study after study by psychologists show no correlation between wealth and happiness. This is so except in cases of poverty when extra income does relieve suffering and bring security.

If you have all the possessions you ever dreamed of, yet another gizmo, smart car, foreign holiday or more nice clothes are not going to make you full of joy.

Or perhaps your aspirations are modest. But of themselves, food, drink, rest, comfort, and sexual pleasure can only provide temporary happiness. We soon get satiated. The thought of that extra cream bun is enough to make you feel sick.

Does fame make us happy? I'm not famous so I don't know. But some celebrities seem to end up either shunning the limelight or just discontentedly craving more and more attention.

Some people want to get their own way. But does this bring happiness? Tyrants for example are always watching their backs for those who oppose them and never seem content.

Psychologist Oliver James has pointed out in his book Affluenza that it's a mistake to attach one's sense of worth and well-being to something transient, like one's looks, one's job, money or fame, because these things may not last for ever. In other words happiness is not something one can attain for oneself but arises as a consequence of how one spends one's time and one's outlook on life.

"Happiness is not a goal; it is a by-product." (Eleanor Roosevelt)

Self esteem and confidence

Happiness in life may depend on having a sense of personal autonomy so we act in accordance with inner standards and preferences, pursuing goals, and resisting social pressures. Alongside this is having the self-acceptance needed to understand and appreciate one's strengths as well as one's weaknesses.

Psychological studies also show fewer symptoms of depression and higher self-esteem come from having the knowledge and skills necessary for managing the demands and responsibilities of daily life. And having the social skills necessary for developing warm, trusting, satisfying relationships, that involve empathy and concern for others.

Also well-being seems to be associated with being open to new experiences, and having a willing attitude towards learning and self-improvement, as well as seeking challenges that broaden one's horizons.

But does all this sense of well-being amount to inner joyfulness?

A sense of self-transcendence

Something beyond yourself is perceived if you have a mystical experience; one that just cannot be put into words. Perhaps involving awe and wonder at the oneness and beauty of the universe. This might involve feeling apart from time and space. A state of inner illumination, and feeling in touch with an unfathomable ultimate reality. But the happy sense of connection with transcendence eventually passes. Consequently, we can ask whether this inner awakening amounts to joy?

Some people have ecstatic experiences as part of emotionally charged atmosphere of a shared religious culture tradition. The excitement is generated by increasing stimulation of dance and music and by appealing to common fears, hopes, or desires. The whirling dervishes intone the divine name and there is circular dancing, whirling and leaping. The hubbub has an air of savagery and animality about it. But is ecstatic social experience really the same as a having private lasting joy?

Generosity of spirit

The book City of Joy by Dominique Lapierre is an amazing true story about the Anand Nagar slum in Calcutta in the 1970's. Based on thorough research, including two hundred interviews in various languages, it has a fascinating authentic ring.

The reader discovers the plight of peasants who came from famine-struck rural areas in India. Death from malnutrition was a very real possibility. They slept on the city streets and, if they were lucky, worked very long hours in appalling conditions to scrape together survival rations. It is a tough book to read but it demands the reader's attention. Its power comes from the vivid detailed non-stop descriptions of the terrible hardship yet compassion of the inhabitants. Despite their suffering they had a lack of self-orientation in their attitude. There are amazing accounts of a generosity of spirit of those, themselves, in dire need.

"No one has a right to consume happiness without producing it." (Helen Keller)

Service

"I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy." (Rabindranath Tagore)

Mother Teresa's nuns offer dramatic examples of royal giving and the joy it produces. Their lifestyle is austere. They leave the comforts of home and live like the poorest of the poor people they serve. At their central house in Culcutta they live three or four to a room. They only personally possess two dresses and a bucket for washing. They eat the same food as the poor and despite the suffocating Indian heat they have no air conditioning. They rise before dawn and spend their days working in the slums.

"Joy is prayer; joy is strength: joy is love; joy is a net of love by which you can catch souls." (Mother Teresa)

A TV interviewer said "The thing I notice about you and the hundred's of sisters who now form your team is that you look so happy. Is it a put-on?

'Oh no,' she replied, 'not at all. Nothing makes you happier than when you really reach out in mercy to someone who is badly hurt'.

'I swear,' wrote the interviewer afterwards, 'that I have never experienced so sharp a sense of joy.'

The deepest joy apparently comes from selfless concern for others.

Psychological And Psychiatric Effects On Human Lives

All individuals experience psychological and psychiatric impacts equivocally and vicariously in their daily lives. What matters is to understand the factors which affect in a pronounced or in an insignificant way. Prior to prodding over the minor or major intricacies of these impacts, we must understand the basic concept and its context.

Kevan Lee explains in his article, "Six powerful psychological effects that explain how our brain ticks." Although his analysis specifically narrowed down to commercial activity, yet it reflects the thinking pattern within an individual. The synopsis of his article highlights that you are more likely to achieve if you remained normal. The extreme approach either cautious or naïve will affect differently in comparison to being normal. A question arises; Is this effect volunteer or spontaneous? We must examine the steps we intend taking to improve ourselves so that it eventually develops your mind.

At the first instance, we should be in good condition both physically and mentally to start thinking in a healthy way. It is an established fact that body and mind work coherently provided they are in a better physical condition. Well-being of an individual within a family is important because it affects the entire family. It then leads an individual or a group to arrive at a sound decision which will benefit productively. The important factor is the motivation which enhances overall performance both materialistically and spiritually.

The synopsis of above factors conclusively established volunteer psychological factors. It can be modified or altered to suit the beginning and end of aims and objectives. Now, it is intriguing to consider the spontaneous or spur of the moment effect. Here, we are concerned by the emotional impact it leaves on an individual. These impacts are directly proportional to implicit and explicit attitude. In comparison, the former is heavily inclined towards negativity.

It becomes interesting to evaluate; how does psychiatry affect attitude? Psychiatry is the medical specialty devoted to the diagnosis, prevention, study, and treatment of disorders. These include various abnormalities related to mood, behavior, cognition, and perceptions.(Ref Wikipedia) I am primarily writing the peripheral impact in a broader sense rather than doing medicinal analysis. The impacts can be serious if the disorder is neglected and ignored for longer time. However, in the initial stages, it can be controlled with treatment and support from psychological tests too.

In 705 CE, the first psychiatric hospital in the world was built in Iraq by Al-Razi (one of the greatest Islamic physicians). In his opinion, mental disorders were considered medical conditions, and were treated by using psychotherapy and drug administration. It is now clear that the human mind, and its illness are the result of cognitive disorder. Its effect can be peripheral or severe depending on the impact it sustained due to many reasons. The crux of the matter is the impact which is psychiatric, and it is should be treated accordingly.

Analyzing variations and deviations within the concept of psychology and psychiatry, it reflects human behavior. It is heavily adopted emotional decisions, thereby, affecting health, wealth and motivation. Here, home environments, social involvements and the will-power inculcate positive behavior leading to dramatic results. It will be a remarkable feat of an individual, and it is the hallmark of a compact decision of psychology and psychiatry.

The Hybrid Mind

Optimistic researchers are suggesting that digital technology is creating the smartest generation yet, freed from limitations of geography, weather and distance - those pesky inconveniences of the physical world. However, other people, such as philosophers and sociologists including many educators, are skeptical of the benefits of technology. They believe that technology alone is detrimental to our overall mental health and well-being.

In order to get the benefits of the digital world, we need nature to help us out. In other words, we can't leave out nature out of the equation and take the time to commune with nature if we are to have a healthy mind and body.

The hybrid mind combines the use of computers to maximize our ability to process intellectual data and natural environments help to ignite our senses and accelerate our ability to learn and feel. So, we need both the digital and nature to have a healthy mind and brain.

The digital era has led to sensory dysfunction. Nature is the way to counteract sensory deprivation and to augment our minds with something that gives us meaning and balance as well as a feeling of well-being and connectedness.

Here are a few ways to counteract our sensory deprivation:

• Take time to be out in nature. Play tennis and badminton with your family and friends. This will get you outside.

• Listen to the birds. Take time to get outdoors, whether it is into your back yard or going out for a walk. Try and name at least two to three different bird songs that you hear along your walk.

• Take a walk in the woods. This will give you a chance to commune with nature in its rawest form. You will be able to bask in the smells and sounds of nature.

• If you are a jogger, make sure that you jog in nature as often as you can. Go to the park or river bank if you live close to one, and run there.

• Choose times to walk when the world is not bustling and busy. Perhaps early morning or evening would be a good choice, depending on where you live. The quieter it is, the more clearly you will hear and commune with nature.

• Have at least four or five picnics every summer. This is another great way of spending time in nature.

By taking these steps, you could be getting the best from nature and you can also get the best out of the digital world by using your devices most efficiently so that you can have time to get out into nature and do the things that you enjoy the most.

The Nostalgia and Its Impact

Some words or sentences are associated pleasantly or melancholy with individuals reminding their attachment to events and people. Nostalgia is associated with a yearning for the past; Its personalities, and events, especially the "good old days" or a "warm childhood." The past events' profoundness attached to an individual's life reverberate subconsciously invigorating his soul to reflect upon the events. What has transpired or conspired between sub-conscious and conscious state of mind is interesting to prod. I am interested in exploring its scientific, psychological and deceptive aspect rather than political tool and medical condition.

If we reflect upon nostalgia, it leads to different moods and it also stimulus personality characteristic benefiting those who experience it. Different school of thoughts, debate its impact, both positive and negative on individuals. The most important aspect of its positive impact is the existential meaning in one's life. Routledge and colleagues found that nostalgia can not only create meaning, but also buffer threats to meaning by breaking the connection between a lack of meaning and one's well-being. They subsequently concluded that nostalgic people have greater perceived meaning, search for meaningless, and can better buffer existential threat. (Routledge is a British multinational publisher, specializes in providing academic books, journals, & online resources in the fields of humanities.)

One study explains nostalgia as psychological growth; this aspect particularly reflects upon themselves as growth-oriented people. Hollywood remembers Baldwin & Landau an Oscar-winning legacy, has found that nostalgia leads people to rate themselves higher on items like, "I am the kind of person who embraces unfamiliar people, events, and places." Nostalgia also increased interest in growth-related behavior.

The other aspect of nostalgia is as a deception. One recent study critiques the idea of nostalgia, which in some forms can become a defense mechanism by which people avoid the historical facts. This study looked at the different portrayals of apartheid in South Africa and argued that nostalgia appears as two ways 'restorative nostalgia' a wish to return to that past, and 'reflective nostalgia' which is more critically aware.

Apart from the above aspects of nostalgia, a romantic variation is of no exception. In fact, it is a charm encompassed in a subtle yet opaque fading memory of love and affection. This romantic variance is captivated by its very existence. The parting of love and reading of love letters catapults a person's imagination in the wilderness of beauty and satisfaction.

In a 2014 study conducted by Routledge, he and a team observed that the more people reported having major disruptions and uncertainties in their lives, the more they nostalgically longed for the past. Routledge suggests that by invoking the idea of an idealized past, politicians can provoke the social and cultural anxieties and uncertainties that make nostalgia, especially, attractive - and effective - as a tool of political persuasion.

The above factors have unequivocally established that sentimental attachments played a dominant role in nostalgia. However, the heart and mind combined has effectively invoke positive impact rather than negative repercussions. Nostalgic feelings have pronounced effect on women than in men, compared. This is the reason a woman needs a man's shoulder to cry upon and ease their burden. This weakness in women becomes their weak link and they get carried away by men's sleazy intentions (A sizable majority of men take advantage).

Differentiating and integrating the variances of nostalgia irrespective of gender bias has its own importance. It conspicuously shows its telltale effects on individuals in their lives. The benefits are a pleasant memory and charm within the feelings which makes a person happy and provide relief to them. An Urdu couplet depicts a touchy and captivating feeling which will be remembered for years to come and it goes like this:

"Hoped I to meet my love she met in the path in such a way,

My gaze I yearn anxiously, she lowered her glance and walked unnoticed."

Which Foods Keep Your Brain Working Well?

Thanks to all the pressures of modern living, we all discover that from time to time, we are often too tired or stressed to think. Nevertheless, this may not be the case since there are varieties of readily available spices, drinks, and foods that we can consume, not only to boost or energize our memory and help us focus, but also to delay or reverse the onset of debilitating diseases which affect the brain such as the Alzheimer's Disease.

Sometimes we all lose interest or focus in whatever we are doing due to stress or fatigue. By good luck, there are some supplements or foods that can improve focus, memory, and concentration, in accordance with the recent research by the World Health Organization (WHO). If you combine and mix these 'brain foods' with daily exercise, good night's sleep and good hydration, you could significantly boost your brain power. So if you are searching for ways to boost your memory, enhance concentration and stay focused, you can check out these simple and readily available foods that will make you smarter like Einstein in no time.

APPLES

Apples are the king of fruits and they are also known for the brain food. They are one of the foods that scientists say will contribute to overall good health, help you to think clearly and of course, boost your memory. We all know the old saying, 'an apple a day keeps the doctor away' and 'you are what you eat' which certainly stills holds true even today. So what makes the apple the top of this list? Well, they contain a certain group of compounds and nutrients such as pectin which are fiber, quercetin which protects and boosts memory, riboflavin which produces energy and lastly polyphenol which are strong antioxidants. These compounds help to protect the brain from the kind of damage that cause neuro degenerative diseases such as Parkinson's and Alzheimer's. Not only do they have brain power but they also help to lower blood cholesterol levels, build strong teeth and prevent the oxidation of bad LDL cholesterol (a chemical process that turns it into an artery clogging plague). They also decrease the risk of liver, lung, colon, breast and other cancer as well as asthma and heart disease. What a wonderful fruit! Also, make sure that you eat the peel as the apple skin has 2 to 6 times the antioxidants as the flesh.Cherries, oysters, berries and even curry also have a high rank among foods that can help boost your brain, promote heart health and give you energy.

CINNAMON

Did you know that cinnamon was worth more than gold to the ancient Egyptians? This is mostly because cinnamon was long believed to have healthy and medicinal properties which made it extremely valuable. There are thousands of man made supplements, food products and chemically manufactured tablets that claim to increase or boost brain power but none of these offers the delicious, tasty flavor cinnamon does. Even today, cinnamon is still one of the most consumed and used products in the world. It is a sweet smelling spice that has been found to boost and energize brain activity and help to relieve memory loss and nervous tension. Cinnamon is also a safe and tasty method to slow down the aging process. Chewing cinnamon flavored gum or just smelling it can help to improve and enhance the cognitive process. It also contains a chemical compound known as sodium benzoate which is used to treat neural disorders. Cinnamon has 3 active compounds which make it so nutritious such as the Cinnamaldehyde, cinnamyl alcohol and cinnamyl acetate. It also contains a flavonol range and other antioxidants along with a remarkable amount of fiber, calcium, and manganese. These compounds have proved to boost memory, curb food cravings, reverse or delay cognitive impairment and benefit Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and diabetic patients. Cinnamon is indeed nature's wonder spice.

COFFEE

Coffee is the planets most single valuable traded food commodity with more than 2 billion cups enjoyed worldwide daily. It's effectiveness as a high-performance brain fuel continues to make it liquid gold and it is not surprising that it's main active ingredient is caffeine. Coffee helps you to wake up in the mornings and keeps you active throughout the day. So how does this magic ingredient help boost your brain? Well, as the caffeine hits the brain it suppresses a neurotransmitter known as adenosine, which influences alertness, concentration, and attention. It works up on your brain during the day just like a mercury rising in the thermometer. Caffeine also stimulates brain chemicals such as dopamine and glutamate which helps and gives you an energy surge, improve your mental performance and slows down the age related mental decline. It also increases serotonin (a major mood influencer) and improves learning up to 10 percent. Caffeine has even proved to relieve headaches and migraines, benefit Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and type 2 diabetic patients. There is also a downside to coffee since caffeine can affect sleep patterns and evidence also suggests that there's an association between daily intake of caffeine, day time sleepiness and sleep quality.Coffee is truly a perfect method to energize and boost your brain.

CHOCOLATE

Today chocolate is considered an anti flammatory, anti aging 'superfood' for both the brain and the body. But how does this lenient treat live up to its plug? Eating amounts of dark chocolate is guaranteed to have many health benefits as they assist the brain to release chemicals known as endorphins (which help the brain to function much better). The studies examining the health benefit of chocolate continue to show new and appealing benefits of chocolate, especially in the realms of mood, cognitive function, and heart or blood vessel health. Also eating chocolate can improve anxiety and depression symptoms and help improve feelings of contentedness. If you consume the right kinds of chocolate every day, they can help to keep your mind sharp and alert, keep your cardiovascular pumping and keep your mood happy and calm. For instance, cocoa chocolate and dark chocolate are best known to boost attention, working memory speed, brain processing speed and speech fluency (even to the elderly). These chocolates are a rich source of flavanols, which are compounds that boost the brain activity and enhance mood effects as well. You can eat as little as a third chocolate per day to increase the blood flow to your brain and also protect yourself against age related issues such as memory loss.

EGGS

According to the latest news in nutrition, eggs are now back from exile just on time to help the aging America from memory loss. Eggs, and especially the yolk, have received a lot of attention with controversy over their cholesterol content. So how do eggs actually help to boost the memory? Well, as it turns out, eggs are packed with choline, that your brain converts to acetylcholine (a neurotransmitter that assists the brain cells to keep the memories intact and communicates with each other). With less than 80 calories each, eggs are comparatively loaded with protein and they have a low calorie. Eggs are also packed with cholesterol which made them end up on the 'bad for you' list in the first place over the past few decades. One York has 200 mg of cholesterol, and for many years, it was believed that dietary cholesterol was the major contributor and cause of heart disease. But it appears that it was mistaken much like the tenacious myth that skims milk is much healthier than whole milk. Eggs contain many nutritive elements that your brain and other body cells need every day. They are rich in choline, vitamin B12, and folate which is good for boosting g your memory.

WATER

Your body was designed to work in a specific way just like any other machine that has specific instructions about what it requires and how to keep it operating optimally. Over 70 per cent of your body is made of water and every function in the body depend on the water including the activities of the nervous system and the brain. Your body is also composed of a delicate balance of minerals, electrons, and organic compounds most of which are supplied through the water that you drink. Therefore, it is proven that if you're not well hydrated, it can affect your focus, cause headaches, lead to memory loss, cause depression, sleeping problems, anger issues and brain fatigue. Drinking water provides your brain with enough electrical energy for all the brain functions including memory processes. You will also be able to think fast, be more focused, experience great creativity and clarity and even reduce the risk of neurotransmitter diseases. It is quite easy to integrate a few supplements or foods that will enhance your memory and focus in your daily diet. You can take an egg in the morning, a cup of green tea after lunch, some curry in your spaghetti sauce at supper time and a lot of water to keep the brain working well.

OILY FISH

No doubt you have possibly heard that eating fish can make you smarter, which to some extent is completely true. Eating oily fish that are high in the essential omega 3 or fatty acids such as salmon, trout, sardines tilapia and other fish can help to boost the brain. Fatty acids that are found in fish and seafood are crucial components of our brain cells and they improve learning strength and memory function by up to 15 per cent. Studies show that eating food rich in omega 3 can boost the blood flow of the brain, improve the performance of mental tasks and reduce the risks of suffering from neurotransmitter diseases such as Alzheimer's and dementia. Also by eating oily fish, you can increase your brain size in later life and also help to prevent age related mental decline. Fish have added the benefit of containing the nutrient choline (a chemical which is essential for memory). Since the solid (non-water) part of your brain is composed of fat, you must provide it with 'good fats' or the essential fatty acids through your diet because the body doesn't produce them. Fish is really an amazing brain food.

SPINACH

A single bunch of spinach can perform wonders for your brain. Spinach was long promoted as the food which gave Popeye his convex muscles. Spinach is loaded with antioxidants which scientists say could block the effects of the free radicals, toxins produced by the body which damage cells and cause cancer, strokes and heart disease. It is also a great source of folate and a kind of vitamin K and vitamin E which help to boost the brain memory. It contains flavonoids that act as potent antioxidants which slow the effects of aging on the brain. It also boosts learning capacity and motor skills. A few leaves of cooked spinach loads a third of foliate and 5 times the amount of Vitamin K that you require in a day. Maybe this is why a neurology study in 2006 reveals that eating three plates of leafy-green, cruciferous and yellow vegetables a day can reverse or delay cognitive decline by 40 percent. Spinach has not only proved to help the brain but it also gives a knock-out punch to cancer and it even protects and improves eyesight. Spinach is packed with high-quality nutrition enough to make you feel like the bulging Popeye.

GRAPE JUICE

Grape juice contains protein, fiber, copper, iron, potassium, folate vitamins A, K, C and B2. They are also rich in polyphenols and natural sugar, which must be consumed in moderation. Therefore, including a glass of tasty grape juice in your daily diet might just boost your memory and your brain performance. It also helps those who live a stressful lifestyle like working mothers. Studies show that by adding a glass of grape juice (especially concord grape juice) to the daily diet might boost memory function and performance of highly stressed people and even in elder people with mild declines of memory. Concord grape juice is a rich and good source of polyphenols and potent antioxidants which mop up or clear harmful reactive species of oxygen which have been recognized as the key to the ageing process. So by consuming or adding concord grape juice to your daily diet for about three months you may boost your spatial memory and drive performance. Grape juice not only helps to boosts your memory but it also protects you from cancer, lowers bad cholesterol, improves cardiovascular health, fights fatigue and it improves eyesight. It is also evident that grape juice also has a long term effect which can allow you to consistently maintain a better performance even when you have stopped drinking it.

IRON

Iron deficiency is the most common condition that is often linked to numerous adverse effects like diminished intelligence, short attention span and difficulty in concentrating. Iron is a required nutrient for it the production of hemoglobin (the component in red blood cells that carries oxygen and delivers it to the tissues). If iron becomes deficient in your body, hemoglobin levels can fail and then cause anemia. Iron also participates in the making of the brain chemicals (neurotransmitters) like dopamine and serine which have broadly advantageous effects on the brain function and mood as well. An easy blood test is conducted to determine whether you have iron deficiency. Study shows that adult women require 18 mg of iron every day, post menopausal women and men require 8 mg every day. Adding more iron rich foods will not automatically boost your brain power, but being even mildly deficient in iron could negatively impact memory, learning and attention span. Chicken livers are on offer the top sources of food that is rich in iron, with 12.8mg per 3 - ounce serving. Even though they are high in cholesterol, they are comparatively low in saturated fat. Other sources of food that are rich in iron are oysters (with nearly 10 mg per dozen) and the lean beef (with 6 mg per ounces). Also beans, vitamin C and iron fortified cereals help the body to absorb iron.

Blackberries

If you want to slow down your ageing process and also preserve your brain's activity and vitality, the secret to doing so is by taking blackberries. These juicy and delicious berries have a phenomenal anti oxidant properties which boost your brain power and nourish your body. They contain high amounts of ellagic acid and garlic acid, a well known chemo preventative (with anti bacterial and anti viral properties). They are also rich in fiber and vitamin C which have been shown to help decrease the risks of certain cancers. They have low carbohydrates, calories (70 calories per cup)and they have no fat. This means that you can take a lot of this stupendous fruit without having the guilt or sabotaging you weight loss target or objectives. These taste and delicious fruit contains several micro nutrients which work wonders on your body. Blackberries are indeed an amazing superfruit.

How Can You Manage Your Anger

All of us experience times when our anger gets a little out of control. But some people can rarely calm themselves down and present a threat mostly to themselves and their wellbeing as a result of their anger.

Here are a few tips to calm down if you find yourself angry more often than not:

Take Timeouts

I know this may seem like a stupid tip. But taking a timeout when you are angry, taking just a few minutes somewhere no one can see you so you can take a few deep breaths and figure out the situation was really worth getting angry for - works.

Think Before You Act

Thinking before you act can be very powerful. You can learn to cut your anger before it even gets to you, and when you successfully catch your thoughts before you get angry, you are well on your way to manage your anger.

It may take a bit of time, but be happy when you, at first, just realize, just figure out the exact process that is making you angry. Then you can work on realizing what is happening internally sooner and sooner, before you can stop it.

Exercise

Many people are angry because they work all day in the office, they are stressed over their jobs and work they do, and simply have no outlet.

They usually have no time for exercise, or at least they think so. But not getting regular exercise brings lots of tension with it, so you have to make it a priority to find the time to jog, lift weights, or take a walk at least - anything, as long as you keep the body moving.

You will feel better for it - exercise will diminish, if not remove your stress altogether.

Use Humor

Using humor as a mechanism to remove your anger is much more socially acceptable and much healthier for you.

Try and figure out what is funny in a situation that makes you angry. Try to laugh by forcing yourself at first, and later laughter may come naturally.

Our brains don't know the difference between laughing naturally and laughing on purpose - that is why so many people who suck up to their superiors seem like they really enjoy the company of those superiors.

Relax

Just relax! It's easy. There are so many ways you can try to relax yourself - from taking a long relaxing walk through the park, to watching your chosen TV show uninterrupted, to taking a massage or going to a hypnotist to help you relax, or maybe even by exercising.

When you are relaxed, it will be much harder to become angry.

I really hope these tips help you. All you have to do is put them to action and change yourself positively.

It's Not About You! Avoid This Trick Your Brain Plays on You and Feel Better

I'm sitting on my couch, watching NCIS with my family. In a plot twist, the victim turns out to be the perpetrator in this episode! How dare she! I point my finger at the TV, and exclaim "Bad girl!" Katy, my Wowzer (Westie Schnauzer - think Toto), who is just getting ready to snuggle down next to me, looks at me and starts shaking.

Wait a minute! It's not about you!

I comfort my dog and reassure her she is a good girl. The shaking stops, and she settles down for her nap. Katy (my dog) can let go of hurts pretty quickly!

How often have I overreacted to what someone said to me? How often have I assumed it was about me, when it absolutely wasn't? How often have I tied myself in knots over something that doesn't belong to me? I have to tell you, I am not as quick to let go as Katy is. Luckily, this person can learn new tricks!

There's a name for this type of overreaction - personalization. This is the trick your brain plays on you when you take responsibility for things you have no real control over. It can be the result of a misunderstanding (poor Katy), an effort to be a people pleaser, or even an attempt to be a little manipulative (does anyone out there have a martyr in mind?). Regardless of the reason, it leaves you feeling cruddy. And it's unnecessary. If Katy had only asked, I would have told her it wasn't about her (OK, I did that without her asking).

Personalization increases stress levels by setting you up to think you are responsible for the wrong things. You end up banging your head against a wall with (predictably) no good result. Personalization can lead to anxiety or depression problems. You can release personalization just by pausing to ask yourself, or the other person, if this is actually about you. Then you can learn to concentrate your efforts in areas where you actually have some control. This leads to a greater sense of wellbeing.

What are you taking the blame for that doesn't really belong to you? What could you let go? What could you check out, instead of assuming it's your fault? Who knows, maybe you and I could take after Katy and just relax, instead of working ourselves up over nothing. I wish you reassurance and a good nap!
