How to Overcome Procrastination in a Single Stupid-Simple Step

What could be a stupid-simple step to overcome procrastination?

Happiness can be a choice or a need. It depends on whether you choose to cultivate it or look outside for it. Procrastination is a hidden culprit eating away at your happiness in the moment.

Once you accept that it's a state of mind and that you can choose to create it at will and with a little trick, here's what you just need to know...

Let's see if these thoughts prove effective and practical to help you stop procrastinating and being more productive:

Straight to the point - there are two ways you can begin to act...

1. Wait and act when you are in the desired state of mind.

2. ACT in spite of the state of mind.

Essentially there's nothing wrong with both. There are popular writers who wait for the right moment of inspiration and then start jotting down some of their bestsellers. And then there are a huge number of experts who act irrespective of the mood. They believe in 'Get Up, Dress Up and Show Up' philosophy.

Find which one's your strength. Explore for a while which are you best times of the day when you feel at your peak performance level.

There's nothing that can block you if you are the second type. You just need to force yourself to get up and get to work until your flow takes over.

But what if you are the first type - one who needs to wait for the right state of mind?

Well, ABRACADABRA... it takes only a few minutes to get you into the right state... how?

1. Start learning from experts on how to prime your mind for a creative day.

2. List and Build habits which can instantly bring a shift in your state of mind.

Anthony Robbins, World Authority on Leadership Psychology and the #1 Life And Business Strategist believes in priming his mind and body for the day. And how long does it take? Only 15 to 20 minutes.

Choose a breathing exercise to being your day with. Most experts are these days trying Wim Hof's breathing exercise or try "Breath of Fire" breathing exercise.

Oxygen somehow has been identified has been linked with greater energy and better health which indirectly has been found to have a big impact on your state of mind.

Indian yoga has been recommending 'Pranayama' and 'Meditation' for ages as the first activities as part of your morning rituals because Indian yogis have been very keen on state of mind.

Be it Maharishi Mahesh Yogi's Meditation or Jose Silva's Mind Control Meditation' the primary purpose is to put you in the right state of mind for you to launch your action.

There are writer's who wait till 1 P.M to get their creative juices flowing and then once there let the ideas flow. That's a great place to be. Imagine.

Try Six Phase Meditation by Vishen Lakhiani. Many claim it's giving good results to put you in the right state before you launch.

And last of all, instead of measuring your progress in rating the results of your action, rate the power of your intent to get into the state and ACT on your IDEA!

All the best!

Is Your Mind Compromising Your Health?

The last time you had a cold, unspecified aches or pains, or just felt under the weather, did it occur to you that your state of mind might have had something to do with it? You may think "That's a crazy idea - I just caught a bug." And you did. However, there may have been underlying reasons why. Commonly these are:

1. Stress and how you cope or don't cope with it
2. Your subconscious beliefs about your health and body

Whether we recognize the symptoms or not, stress is a factor of daily life: getting stuck in a traffic jam when you are late; having an argument with a friend; your car breaking down on the freeway; discovering your checking account is overdrawn; a call from school because your child has gotten in trouble again... However, not all stress is caused by external factors. We do a great job of creating our own stress by excessively worrying about something that may or may not happen, or continually thinking pessimistic thoughts.

While we ordinarily think of stressors as being negative - an overwhelming work load, an exhausting schedule or a rocky relationship, any situation that makes high demands on us or forces change can be stressful. This includes positive events such as getting married, buying a house, going to college, receiving a promotion or moving to a new city.

For short periods of time stress can actually be beneficial. It helps you meet deadlines or challenges, and keeps you sharp and focused during a presentation at work or during a sports competition. But too much stress can overwhelm the body and make us sick, both mentally and physically. While our bodies are designed to handle short periods of stress, we are not equipped to handle long lasting, chronic stress without consequences. Prolonged stress raises blood pressure, creates tension in the body and compromises the immune system. Not only does a compromised immune system make you vulnerable to all the "bugs" out there, many other problems can be caused or worsened as well. Some of these include: heart disease, pain, depression, weight issues, auto immune diseases, skin conditions such as eczema and sleep disorders.

Subconscious beliefs play a large role in the state of your health as well. For over 50 years medical professionals have been demonstrating that the mind can heal the body by something known as the "placebo effect." A placebo is a substance that has no known medical benefits, such as sterile water, saline solution or a sugar pill. A placebo is nothing more than a fake treatment that in some cases can produce very real results. The expectation of the patient is key - the more a person believes the treatment will work the more likely it will. Less known is the placebo effect's ugly twin, the "nocebo effect." This is the placebo effect in reverse. If you believe something is harmful it most likely is or will be.

Negative beliefs can be extremely harmful to the human body. According to Bruce Lipton, a former medical school professor, research scientist and author of The Biology of Belief, we are what we believe. What we think we believe is not always the case. True beliefs are buried deep within our subconscious mind. Many of our beliefs were formed before we were old enough to separate fact from fiction, and we internalized whatever we heard and were told. Were you consistently sick as a child and considered to be too frail to have a normal life? How is your health now? Is there a correlation?

Growing up you may have repeatedly heard family members discuss how Alzheimer's, cancer, heart disease or some other debilitating condition "runs in the family." If you believe it is inevitable you will succumb too, you are setting yourself up to be a sitting duck. Changing your belief does not guarantee you will never get that particular disease or condition, but it can help prevent it from becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy.

How can you use your mind to protect and improve your health? Positive thinking is vital, but it won't change deeply ingrained subconscious beliefs. As Albert Einstein said, "No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it." If positive thinking alone could keep us well, many doctors would be out of business and hospitals would be much emptier. Both EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) and PSYCH-K® (Psychological Kinesiology) work at the subconscious level of the mind and are powerful tools, both for managing stress and changing subconscious beliefs. Rob Williams, originator of PSYCH-K®, explains that this technique "is a simple and direct way to change self-limiting beliefs at the subconscious level of the mind, where nearly all human behavior originates, both constructive and destructive." While appearing deceptively simple, PSYCH-K® is not something to attempt yourself unless you have been properly trained to use it. Find a professional practitioner who can work with you to identify and change negative beliefs that might be sabotaging your health. On the other hand, EFT can easily be learned and practiced any time. Do yourself a favor and learn more about how these modalities might help you prevent illness and maintain good health, especially as you grow older.

The 4 States of Mind: Pathway to Success

The four states of mind is a concept coined by Vishen Lakhaini, the curator of the awesomeness festival and the author of the Codex Mind. The four states of mind is a theory that can give us an insight about our own mindset and more importantly an ability to track ourselves as we work to move from any state of the mind that does not serve us to the one that does.

There are two key elements that must be either in a balance or imbalance in each of the individual four states of mind; those two elements are happiness in the now and a vision for the future. Depending on which side the scale tips you could find yourself in any one of these states of mind. Let's see what they are:

1. The Negative Spiral
The negative spiral is possibly the most challenging state. In this state, there is no vision for the future and no happiness in the now. When you are stuck in the negative spiral you may suffer from clinical disorders such as anxiety and even depression. Although a small percentage of the population finds themselves in this state for a prolonged period of time, the lower frequency of this state does not diminish the magnitude of its debilitating effects.

2. Current Reality Trap
In the current reality trap you have happiness in the now but you have no vision for the future. This seems like a really good place to be in, where you can find happiness in the now and be content in the moment; however research shows that true fulfillment comes from having a purpose and a mission in life which you work towards through a defined vision. In the long-term you are more likely to be happy and engaged in your life if you have a vision for your future, in addition to being happy in your current circumstances.

3. Stress and Anxiety
The third state is called the stress and anxiety state and this one I believe is where a lot of entrepreneurs find themselves, especially the ones that are just starting out or only a few years in their entrepreneurial journey. Stress and anxiety is where you have no happiness in the now but you do have a vision for the future. In other words, you are not happy in the current moment with what you have and all your focus goes into your vision for the future as you put all your energy working towards that singular goal. As you focus completely on realizing your massive vision you become oblivious to the joys of the journey along the way and in fact become stressed and anxious about not achieving massive results right away.

I know the stress and anxiety state very well. I was stuck in it myself, perpetually chasing happiness, always running towards the next thing and the thing after that but happiness never came. Happiness seemed elusive and out of my reach. I constantly and tirelessly worked towards achieving goals hoping to find happiness once I achieved them, but when I did, happiness evaded me and was nowhere to be found. In this state your vision drives you on a perpetual chase for happiness that starts resembling a witch hunt.

Many entrepreneurs can relate with this feeling as they inch away towards their goals the joy that comes in the moment working towards them seems to escape them all the time. I certainly felt this way for a long time where I just could not find the happiness in whatever I had in the current moment.

4. State of Flow
The fourth one is the most interesting and decadent state of all, the state of flow. In this state you have a vision for the future AND you're happy in the present moment, the now. The state of flow is an empowered state because here you are able to enjoy all the hard work that you're doing and enjoy the fruits of your labour by being happy in the current moment. The state of flow is common among people that are the so called "game changers" in the world. The ones that can find themselves being happy in the moment in whatever they have but at the same time, have this grand vision for how they want to see their organizations evolve and in many cases the world.

You may relate with the state of flow as you may have been in flow at one point in your life or are in flow right now at this time of your life. When you are in the state of flow you can feel that everything you touch turns to gold, that everything falls into place, things just line up and whatever you do starts to produce results. The state of flow is a really good place to be in because here you start to see results. This is where you really feel like you're living a fulfilled life.

If you are in the stress and anxiety state there are many ways to transition into the state of flow, practices and techniques that can successfully bring you into a place where your vision and happiness complement each other in a beautiful balance. Where you have a grand vision for your future and yet enjoy your success in the moment. I will discuss the practices that you can adopt to transition yourself into the sate flow in my next blog post.

Moving yourself from stress and anxiety to flow take action, consistency paired with hard work is what brings success, if you are ready for a consistent change in your life that can bring you financial freedom like you have never experience before I want to introduce you a tried and true online business model on my website [http://digitalifestylebusiness.com/].

Be aware this business model is not for the opportunistic seeker but for the consistent producer. Remember success doesn't come from what you do occasionally, it comes from what you do consistently.

Stress Management In 3 Easy Steps

Have you noticed that we generally tend to stress about future events? Typically, we stress about the exam next month, the company restructure next year, the "having to buy a house" at some point in life, the presentation that's due next week... And have you noticed what happens when all of these events become a fact of the Now? We usually become resourceful, we pull ourselves together and we deal with it! Success is inevitable eventually, even if we have to veer off course temporarily. Why then do we have to spend countless nights awake worrying about what is to come? How does that help us achieve a better outcome? Of course it doesn't, and we all know it. So let's do something about it, let's stop worrying and start living. It is actually not that difficult. All you need is awareness and willingness.

Assuming you are already willing to do away with your stress, the key to building your awareness is mastering your ability to live in the Now. You can't be where you want to be; you can only be where you are!

Living in the Now is a muscle that we have to exercise consistently. Here is an easy three-step approach to doing so. Practice this daily and you will become more and more present and release the stress as a consequence:

  1. At the beginning of each day create a goal related to how you would like to feel that day. Let's say today you would like to feel peaceful.
  2. Immediately after you've set your goal, spend some time engaging all five senses: smell something that gives you peace; taste something that gives you peace; look at something that gives you peace; listen to something the gives you peace; touch something that gives you peace. You can either do this "for real" or you can imagine smelling, touching, tasting, hearing and seeing something peaceful. The brain doesn't know the difference between doing something for real and imagining it, and your body will react the same way (i.e. by getting out of Fight / Flight and activating the parasympathetic nervous system which helps us rest, digest and regenerate).
  3. Now that you have engaged the five senses, you have altered your state of mind and you can be present. From that space, you can go about your day feeling happy, and you are far more likely to complete your tasks successfully.

Remember: Success is not the key to happiness. Happiness is the key to success.

How To Believe In The Power Of Infinite Possibilities

Life Can Change When We Least Expect It

Warning! This article may not appeal to you if you are not open to entertaining the likelihood of infinite possibilities. You may even find evidence why the universe is based on science, and mathematics to disprove infinite possibilities. I don't intend to persuade you into believing my point of view, for that is the least of my intentions. I hope you will come to see that infinite possibilities are conceivable and life is anything but fixed. Before we go on, I want you to reflect on moments throughout your life when a situation occurred beyond the realm of normal. Perhaps it was a chance encounter of a love interest you reunited with after decades, or you were one of a thousand applicants for a job interview and were offered the position, despite interviewing poorly for the job. Whatever it was, recall the experience as best you can and see if you can get a sense of how you felt at the time.

There are numerous examples that prove infinite possibilities existed throughout history. To mention them here means reciting what hundreds of other articles have already written. So it begs the question: what does infinite possibilities mean to you? Where does it begin and end? For example, is it in the realm of miraculous healings or otherworldly events? Infinite possibilities for me is associated with a mindset that anything can happen within the fabric of reality. I have experienced moments over the years which helped me realise that sometimes life can change when we least expect it. Perhaps you've witnessed this yourself, whether it was an event that worked in your favour or otherwise? One example that took place two decades ago related to my father who was ill at the time and given a diagnosis by his doctors he wouldn't survive until the end of the week. He not only survived but lived another five years. It was then I realised mankind has limited knowledge of what is possible within the scope of a greater intelligence. I'm not sure what you call this intelligence, if you call it anything at all. I prefer to call it God, co-creating the circumstances of my life within the container of free will. It is important we abide by our beliefs but also be willing to upgrade them when or if new information becomes available.

Keep An Open Mind And Don't Hold Firm To Fixed Ideas

Some say infinite possibilities is nothing more than coincidence, providence, luck or chance. I recognise it as a state of mind more than an event or experience. Therefore, we needn't believe in them but keep an open mind and look for evidence when they arise. I don't know about you but I'm inclined to be impartial about endless possibilities existing than remain close-minded because my belief system does not agree with it. I would rather change my mind when new information comes to light that disproves my earlier beliefs. I think this is important because we mustn't hold firmly to a belief system just because it has been the case for our entire life. We ought to upgrade our beliefs and perception of reality as new information comes to hand. What are your thoughts on this? Are you open to new information or do you hold on to fixed beliefs because you don't want to be wrong? I think the key is to be mindful of what we believe or not believe while recognising that our earlier beliefs may be incomplete.

As an example of this, I was recently reading about the South African scientist, Prof Tim Noakes, who for decades espoused the high-carbohydrate diet. It wasn't until he was diagnosed with type II diabetes he publicly stated that his understanding of nutrition was incomplete and thus he adopted a low carbohydrate/ketogenic style diet. Irrespective of what you think about Prof Noakes, it took a great deal of courage to declare he was wrong and change his stance because he had a lot to lose by way of credibility. I highlight Prof Noakes as one example of somebody willing to keep an open mind and not hold firm to fixed ideas. We ought to accept that anything is possible even that which was impossible in the past. This relates to our health, finances, relationships, career, etc. We should entertain the possibility that sometimes life can weave its magic and a situation can resolve itself or improve beyond our understanding. Because when we believe in infinite possibilities, we are open to the notion that life works through us on a higher dimension. Knowing this, I invite you to think back on the experiences I asked you to recall earlier. Write three lessons you gained from the experiences and how they shaped your life. Could you have foreseen these events in hindsight? If not, could you entertain the notion that a greater universal intelligence may function within the backdrop of your life? You see, being open to infinite possibilities means to accept life exactly as it is without preconceived ideas. This my friends, proves the universe is a mysterious entity because as Deepak Chopra once said: "Be comfortable with and embrace paradox, contradiction and ambiguity. For uncertainty is the womb of creativity."

The Mystery Surrounding Self-Esteem

Woman Wearing White Sleeveless Shirt And White Denim Shorts

Self-esteem is the created being in every person that makes one stand out in whichever fields he commands.

If you kill the esteem, you kill the person.

Low self-esteem denies a person the chance to be himself. Psychologists often deal with the affected person trying to mend the lost esteem whereas nobody tells us that the process of alleviating the mess involves more than just the affected people.

Low self-esteem frustrates a person and can lead to depression or worse off, suicide. Unfortunately, in the developing stages, it is not well understood and considered more of a personal problem. It becomes a family problem only when it has advanced to depression.

Without each person taking a personal responsibility towards this fast-growing disastrous "low self-esteem" family, the destruction may get more out of hand than it has, right from our homes to other institutions.

Who is the cause of low self-esteem?

Looking at yourself, you may feel so confident that you have never played a part in lowering someone else's esteem! For as long as you relate with people on a daily basis, you may be part of someone else's esteem issues.

Of most concern are your closest family members since this is where you feel the pain if you incur losses. But bear in mind that what affects your child may be an extension of what you did to a stranger.

Some actions that lower self-esteem

As a teacher, if you humiliate a poor performing student at whatever level, you may implant a withdrawal syndrome in him and thus affect him at a later date. You may not believe that a teenager remembers how his kindergarten teacher humiliated him for poor performance. And worse off, he recalls the teacher's name. If he is an average student, you may not be able to convince him that he can do better.

The comparison is an esteem killer. People are taking up responsibilities for an upcoming event in a meeting. Someone prefers one duty to another then all over sudden; another person shouts "children can even perform better than you." Depending on one's makeup, the effects of such a declaration may not be as simple as the statement.

Constant complaints targeting the same person lower his self-esteem. I don't like your dressing. You can't be serious you don't know such a simple thing. I didn't like your contribution to the Bible study. You mean you can't drive faster than that?

The first thing that will run in the victims mind before he does anything is "will it be a mistake or am I about to ask a silly question?"

Does low self-esteem affect every victim?

You may be grinning and wondering why you are not a sufferer of low self-esteem despite your bad experiences.

The reason is simple. Each person is uniquely created. It's unfortunate that most of the time we expect people to be like us instead of understanding that we cannot be the same.

One hardy person will brush off his hurts immediately whereas another will cry over a similar hurt for three days. The later is likely to experience low self-esteem. It is not his liking, but he's just wired like that.

What are the effects of lowering people's esteem?

In the long-term, you will also suffer the consequences since if the person ceases to be himself, you will share in the pain. Assume it's your child or spouse; you cannot escape it.

In such a condition, he cannot unleash his potential since he is in a leased state of mind. His overall development staggers. No matter how much he may want to offer a shoulder to lean on when you are in need, he may not be able to, courtesy of the same you.

Once it advances to depression, you will spend unexpected amounts of money solving a problem you could have avoided.

What makes one lower people's self-esteem?

Thinking that you know and others do not know.

Assuming that people's personalities are similar to yours, and they will not take such humiliation seriously.

Taking advantage of your power to bring the other down. A child is helpless no matter the age and may just ignore your actions yet still suffer low self-esteem.

How to avoid lowering people's esteem

Photo of Woman Teaching His Son While Smiling

Start by accepting that people must not be like you.

Dwell on the strengths you see in other people rather than the weaknesses.

Correct mistakes in a friendly manner if there is a need.

Do not discuss someone's weakness elsewhere if you're not seeking a solution to it.

Never laugh at a mistake on someone's face.

Learn to apologize just in case your words may have sent a wrong message.

Listen and only answer when he's quiet. Speaking before he finishes makes him feel you undermine his intelligence and worsens the situation.

How to arrest low self-esteem before it advances

Listen even to what may not make sense to you and participate. After all, you're dealing with your loved ones.

Create a friendly environment and be easily approachable.

How to handle a person who is on a self-esteem recovery process

Answer his questions immediately. Ignoring or dismissing him makes him feel unwanted.

Get much closer to him than ever before, your lack of concern about him is an emotional teaser.

Give him an opportunity to make decisions and implement them. Congratulate him for any efforts made.

Encourage him by sharing true stories of people who have had similar experiences.

Gradually make him understand that the difference in personalities may have lit up a misunderstanding where it was not meant to be.

Can low self-esteem last forever?

On the assumption that one has to deal with it on his own, it may or may not last forever. It depends on what the victim chooses or if he even realizes it's a problem in the first place.

There are only two ways to it. You either choose to get yourself out of it or to accept the situation as it is. To make a difference, you have to tackle the cause of the problem. Let the person know the effects his actions are causing in your life and make it clear you cannot live with it. Any time he bruises you, raise the alarm as a reminder and do it politely.

Experience is the greatest of all teachers. Sharing is caring.

The surrounding makes people what they become. No matter how hard one tries to be himself, people intentionally or unknowingly change him to a generic self. If it happens to mature adults, you can imagine the effects on children or teenagers! It interferes with one's original self-esteem mostly lowering it.
Have you ever taken part in lowering someone's self-esteem?
Have you dealt with a victim of low self-esteem?
What was your experience?
What's your advice to anyone who would like to secure his child's esteem rather than wait to mend it?

Low Self-Esteem Is Not a Permanent State of Mind

Woman in Blue Bikini Reclining on Brown Folding Chair on Beach

Many teens who are plagued with low self-esteem and self-worth believe that this is a permanent state of mind. But as I will discuss in this article, low self-esteem isn't a permanent state of mind. So, we have no need to identify with it.

Most teens who experience low self-esteem believe that they are plagued with this condition forever as if it is some disease. Some even feel so awkward and frustrated because of low self-esteem that they seek out counselling and other guidance. However, this need not be the case if you consider low self-esteem situational and short-term.

Most of us experience low self-esteem from time to time. However, very few of us are defined by our low self-esteem. Instead, we should view low self-esteem as something that comes and goes and that you can control instead of it controlling you all the time.

One way to ensure that you don't get overwhelmed when you experience low self-esteem and you feel vulnerable is to remove yourself from the immediate situation that is making you feel low and go to a place where you can center. You have all the resources that you need within you.

To center, you should take a few deep breaths and then preferably sit down alone, without your Blackberry and listen to your breath. Then close your eyes and focus on your breath. Breathe deeply. Then start counting your breaths. When you get to ten, start over at one. Keep doing this for a few minutes. Then stop counting your breaths and just relax in this space of calm.

Then open your eyes, and sit quietly for a few minutes. Ask yourself how you feel now. Do you feel as low as you did a few minutes ago? Did you have low self-esteem while you were meditating? Psychologists firmly believe that the practise of relaxing with your breath can reduce a lot of negative self-talk which leads to low self-esteem.

So, if you catch yourself experiencing low self-esteem and self-worth, here are a few tips to follow.

• As soon as you notice that your negative self-talk has sucked you into a vortex of low self-esteem and self-worth, pause.
• Take a few deep breaths.
• Remove yourself from the immediate situation. If you are around a bunch of people, tell them that you have to leave for a few minutes.
• Do a short meditation session like the one outlined above.
• If you are still overwhelmed, go your own separate way for the rest of the day.
• Don't keep rehearsing the negative situation in your mind. Instead, every time the situation replays itself in your mind, pause and take a few deep breaths. Then acknowledge that you had a negative thought and let the thought go. This will be hard to do at first, but once you master it, your self-esteem will be in tact regardless of what others say and do to you.

By taking these steps, you will be taking control of your health, happiness and well-being. And you won't be dependent on other people being nice to you all the time. You will be nice to yourself, and that will be within your control. That is one way to build self-esteem.

Through a Simple Twist of Faith, Part Three

Photo Of Woman Wearing White Shirt

The conclusion of a three-part article written by Randi G. Fine

I should have seen the writing on the wall and planned an exit strategy long before I needed it but I had not. Financially dependent and deeply in denial I lingered until the very last second. Then I fled, penniless, in desperation.

When I left my husband, newborn baby in tow, the only realistic option I had was to move back in with my parents. I dreaded the thought of having to go back to my childhood home. I knew it would be emotional suicide for me, but it was the safest place for my daughter to live until I could get back on my feet.

Though my husband had put me through a living hell I never wanted to leave him, still loved him, and could not imagine life without him. The loss was profoundly painful, the grief nearly unbearable.

Now thinking back to all the issues that had confronted me all at once I cannot imagine how I managed to stay sane. I was a first time mother, only two weeks post-partum, and single. My baby was very small, not even six pounds, and she could not eat enough at one feeding to sustain her for very long. She only slept two hours at a time so I was nursing her every two hours, all day and all night.

My parents, who remained deficient in respecting personal boundaries, were not making things any easier for me. Every time my daughter woke up and cried in the middle of the night they would brazenly open the door to the bedroom I shared with her and scream at me to pick her up. They said she needed to be fed and held. I was trying to teach her to self-soothe so she would fall back to sleep on her own and I could get some badly needed rest, but they just didn't get it.

While all this was going on my husband was doing everything he could think of to punish me for leaving him. He retained his family's attorney and threatened to fight me for visitation and custody. That terrified me-in his compromised state of mind there was no way I would even leave him alone with the baby for a second. I could not afford a lawyer of my own. All I could do was plead with him to drop the custody/visitation issue and help me out financially. Unmercifully exercising the upper hand he just toyed with me and played head games.

I applied for welfare, but the state claimed I was ineligible because my car was worth more than the allowable assets. My retired parents with a modest income stepped up to the plate-they sacrificed and helped as much as they could financially. I am ever grateful for everything they did to help me. In that way they made my life easier. I wish I could have said the same about their emotional support.

I continued going to Nar Anon support group meetings for a few months to help me cope with my all my problems. The "Higher Power" focus, fundamental to all twelve-step support groups, was constantly being reinforced there. Though still a foreign concept to me, I was beginning to grasp the idea of an intangible force working in my life.

Desperate for answers I began seeking solace in books. The internet had yet to exist so the library, with its vast resources, became my sanctuary. I would stand in front of the shelves in the spirituality sections waiting for a book to "speak" to me.

What I read in these books made more sense to me than anything I had ever heard before. Through this newly acquired awareness the panoramic picture of my life started coming together. My eyes were opened to the incredible love that had always been available to me but that I never knew I could tap into. Though the religious perspective never made sense to me, the spiritual one did and it captivated me.

I finally understood my grandfather's spiritual connection; the one that brought him so much joy in his life. He found it through religion. I didn't. I came upon it through adversity. It doesn't matter how we come to this understanding. What is important is that we know we are unconditionally loved and supported at all times. There is no greater love. Always have faith.

Can Fidgety People Start a Mindfulness Practise?

Women's White Top and Orange Floral Skirt

Given our world of alacrity and technology, it is difficult for most of us to be mindful. We have to very diligently take ourselves out of the frey in order to cultivate even a few moments of quiet and stillness. Given this kind of world, it can be hard to start a mindfulness practice. But is it impossible?

I believe that given the state of our world, it is especially important to take steps to become more mindful. This is because mindlessness can cause a lot of undue anxiety and health problems down the road.

But what about the person who is anxious and mindless-- can such a person meditate or start a mindfulness practise? I believe that anyone can start a mindfulness practise, regardless of our current state of mind. And given the busy, plugged-in world that we all live in the midst of, I believe that it is especially important to develop a mindfulness practise.

In this article, I will show you how to start a mindfulness practise, even if you are fidgety. The best way to start is small and slow. Here are a few simple things you can try to be more mindful in your everyday world.

1. Start by being more mindful when you brush your teeth. Take some time to really look in the mirror at yourself. How do you look? What is the temperature in the room? How are you feeling as you brush your teeth? Are you tired? Sad? Depressed? Become conscious of how you are in this moment.

2. Become more conscious of your breath at different times of the day, such as when you are drinking a cup of coffee, or take a break, or going to the washroom. Try to choose activities that are routine, and when you know that you will be quite mindless, rehearsing different aspects of what happened already or will happen in the future.

3. Do a walking meditation for a minute at a time. You may want to start the practise at home when you won't be disturbed by the outside noise and seeing familiar faces as you walk outside. Be as precise as you can be. So, set a timer for one minute and see if you can be completely present to what you are doing at this moment. If you aren't, don't be too hard on yourself. Just keep bringing your attention to the moment when you realize that you are thinking of something else.

4. Try to eat mindfully. Turn off the television and all technological gadgets. If you are eating with another person, let the other person know that you will be trying to eat more mindfully a few times a week. Who knows, you may even inspire others to be more mindful while eating too.

5. Drink coffee or tea mindfully. Try to bring your attention fully to what you are doing which is drinking your cup of coffee or tea. Set a timer for one minute, and do nothing but drink your beverage. When the minute is over, you can lapse into other activities.

6. Do one thing at a time. Try not to multi-task for a while. Try and really pay attention to what you are doing at the time.

By taking these steps, you will become more mindful by doing everyday tasks mindfully. This is one important way to become more mindful.

Developing a mindfulness practise need not be difficult. However, it needs to be consistent. Try and start slow and small, but be consistent. Over time, you will develop mindfulness.

Life Lessons - The Secret of Positive Perception

For many years I went through tough times and I became driven to find out why these things were happening to me. This became one of my life's greatest challenges. I was so stuck in a victim mindset of why me, that I almost missed out on life's greatest lessons and tests that were being presented before me. Little did I know, that I was in preparation for my advancement. At that time it felt like I was living in hell. The perception I had of my experience then was not great, I was more focused in the negative, full of fear and looking for someone or something to blame and take responsibility.

Then one day I discovered that I was not the only one going through tough times, there where many others going through tough experiences too. Even though their experiences were a bit different to mine, they were still being challenged to the core, so this gave me comfort knowing that the tough journey was not just for me. Due to this understanding I began to give myself permission to come out of the victim mindset that had me in a mental prison for many years. You see all of us have to go through some tough times at different periods of our lives and nobody really knows why we need to have these experiences. This then causes us to ask ourselves what we can do about it? Most people get stuck here, because of this question. You tell yourself that you don't know what to do which basically is a recipe for mental bondage that then leads to the victim mindset.

What you choose to do here will define the path that you will follow. Lets take an example. Have you ever felt like you were a victim of any circumstance? What follows that mindset is a spiralling down into negative emotions you will start to feel helpless, hopelessness and pretty quickly you are down in the dumps? This is very common to most of us, we have areas were we are adamant that it's beyond our understanding, so it's easier for us to make the assumption that it's somebody's fault, so when you start to think like this it makes you lose your power over what's happening. Once you get in that state of mind or belief it's very hard to come out of it, you will need something much more powerful than that state of mind for you to be free.

At this point many are asleep, so they need to wake up from their slumber. When you are wake up something changes, you become aware of how you have been playing small and have become a victim. Once you are aware of this you open a door for your perception to change. The journey of being positive starts here and this experience is what I call a shift into a new way of thinking. This transitioning time of transformation is usually slow but well worth the wait.

We all know that transitioning is usually a challenging time as you are working on letting go of the old so that the new can set in. Most of us find change very difficult to deal with as by nature we often fight against any change, because we prefer to sit and dwell in the things that we are familiar with which is otherwise called the comfort zone. In the comfort zone most of us we dwell there for very long periods, what we don't realise is that change is going to happen anyway whether we accept it or fight it. So it is usually good to go with the flow instead of resisting and fighting. For you to accept the change and be in flow with it you need to have a positive perception of the circumstances that you are going through.

The most challenging question that many people ask is how to stay positive? Generally we are creatures of habit we find just changing one thing out of our usual pattern rather painful but it is consistence, endurance, persistence, perseverance and patience that usually brings the greatest results.

What Does It Mean to Take Full Responsibility for Your Life?

When you said that you are taking full responsibility for your life, it must not be said only as lip service. Instead, it must come with a real change in mindset. A person who takes full responsibility for his life has a certain attitude towards living his life.

He understands that everything that he experiences is a result of his own thoughts and manifestations. He understands how his thoughts create his experiences. He also understands that how he experiences his life depends on his perspective, or how he sees things.

Thus, his own state of mind - whether happy or sad, good or bad - depends only on himself, on how he manages his mind. He sees the importance of having a greater degree of mastery over his mind. He sees the need to work with his mind.

He begins by discarding any old mental habits of criticizing and judging others, or even the tendency to do so. He then applies it on himself as well, meaning that he also stops criticizing and judging himself.

He realizes the importance of looking within to further understand himself better. Therefore, he learns to be mindful, to be more aware of his thoughts and feelings. He observes how his mind works, without judging it. He simply witnesses the unfolding of his thoughts and feelings as they occur, fully accepting them, embracing them. He drops all resistance, all fears through understanding and through confidence in the benevolence of the universe.

He understands that his present experience is the results of his past thoughts and mental habits. He realizes also that how he responds to his present reality becomes the seed for his future experiences. Thus, he consciously chooses his responses, thereby changing his present and future experiences.

This act of conscious choosing gives him a greater degree of mastery and control over the outcomes of his life. It is indeed empowering to know that one has the ability to determine one's own destiny.

This is in sharp contrast to one who is unaware of all this, and simply reacts to events through his conditioned mind, out of old mental habits. Life seems out of his personal control for one like this.

He who takes full responsibility for his life also knows that he is fully accountable for his decisions and choices, and he takes on that responsibility knowingly and willingly. This takes courage and honesty.

One who takes full responsibility for his life is one with such a mindset. With the absence of judging, with greater understanding and acceptance through mindfulness, he begins to experience a new and transformed life - one with greater peace of mind and contentment.

This Is Why You Live In The Feeling Of Your Thinking And Experience Life From Inside Out

Experience Life From Inside-Out

The late Scottish born philosopher Sydney Banks stated: "Someone once said to me, 'Are you telling me that chair isn't real, that it's only thought?' I said 'Of course the chair is real. But it comes to you via Thought'."

Banks went onto discover The Three Principles of Mind which influenced the practice of psychology and psychiatry in the years to follow.

The Three Principles of Mind are:

1. Mind: The universal intelligence behind life which is the source of all.

2. Consciousness: The awareness of life unfolding and what we create.

3. Thought: The ability to create, through thinking.

How does this relate to you?

Stay with me a moment as I unpack this further.

Many people subscribe to the outside-in paradigm whereby circumstances out there are responsible for the way they feel.

And that makes sense.

I don't disagree because I've experienced such moments until I became aware of my thoughts.

The point is, you create your experience of life from inside-out, not the other way around.

American sports psychologist Garret Kramer says: "You're never feeling your circumstances. You're always feeling your thinking, which, independent of your circumstances, is constantly in flux. This explains why a circumstance can look troubling one moment and okay the next."

No one or no event can make you feel what you don't already believe. I may try to impose my thoughts or reality on you, but if you don't believe it at the level of thought, you don't experience it emotionally.

It was the Cuban born essayist Anaïs Nin who said: "We don't see things as they are, we see them as we are."

Your reality is the sum of your past conditioning. It has to be, because no two people share the same view of reality, even twins differ in the way they perceive the world.

This is empowering for several reasons, not least because it confirms we are in control of how we respond to life's circumstances.

The Four Noble Truths

Life does not happen to you, but develops through you.

Moreover, life is happening for you.

I know it may not seem that way and I didn't believe it until I upgraded my perception of reality.

When you allow life to be what it is without attaching a narrative to it, suffering is diminished because you cease to oppose what is.

Consider life being akin to water instead of a rock. Since water is malleable, it will flow around the rock and erode it to find its own level.

By embracing the same attitude, you abandon your storyline of how life should develop in a certain way and allow life to advance in its own way. Your thinking is a mind-made narrative and not the reality you experience.

The Japanese writer Haruki Murakami writes in What I Talk About When I Talk About Running: "Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional."

Pain and suffering are important tenets espoused in Buddhism and encapsulated in The Four Noble Truths:

1. The Truth Of Suffering

2. The Truth Of The Cause Of Suffering

3. The Truth Of The End Of Suffering

4. The Truth Of The Path That Frees Us From Suffering

The point worth emphasising is that suffering is a state of mind. This is illustrated in Viktor Frankl's personal experience as a Holocaust survivor in a German concentration camp.

Frankl writes in Man's Search For Meaning: "Life is never made unbearable by circumstances, but only by lack of meaning and purpose."

Similarly, the evangelical Christian pastor Charles Swindoll said: "Words can never adequately convey the incredible impact of our attitude toward life. The longer I live the more convinced I've come to believe that life is 10% what happens to us and 90% how we respond to it."

The connecting theme lies in our response to events outside of us, not the circumstances themselves.

"Knowing that your feelings come from the inside (your thinking), and not the outside (your circumstances), is what allows your state of mind to self-correct when you are troubled," affirms Garret Kramer.

You Live In The Feeling Of Your Thoughts

I often hear my young nephews cry out when their playing together turns sour: "He made me feel this way." In that instance, I'm reminded how naïve their perception is, albeit given their age.

However, I've heard the same conversations in adults who subscribe to the same thinking. Curiously, these same people endure intense pain and suffering, since they concede other people or life's circumstances are the cause of their suffering.

They are not wrong, nor are they right. They are simply unaware of the inside-out paradigm and respond to life based on their level of awareness.

Can you see how misleading and painful this line of thinking can be?

No one outside of you is responsible for the way you think and feel, if you don't already act that way for the most part.

They may try to impose their beliefs on you and succeed because you already subscribe to those beliefs and so they become active in you.

You also needn't follow the Buddhist Eightfold Path to overcome suffering, but just realise you live in the feeling of your thoughts.

When you become aware and awake to your thoughts, you are less attached to the meaning they carry.

You become an outsider looking in on your thoughts. You are the witnesser and observer, rather than the person whose thoughts are being imposed upon them.

Becoming Financially Independent Through A Reflective State Of Mind

Of the many personal transformation books about how to achieve financial freedom or becoming financially independent that I have read, I have discovered a typical thread on the basics of money attraction.

The same ideas will be discovered when you go online and search on the exact same subject.

It is your perceptions and thoughts and a reflective state of mind that will set the stage for manifesting money. In order to be able to attract wealth, you must find out how to use the power of attraction for manifesting money.

How to achieve financial freedom means training your mind into thinking that you already have exactly what you've wanted, and then your life will astonishingly change to show your new belief.

The following manifesting money mindset tips and pointers and suggestions, might sound like mumbo jumbo or hocus pocus to you, but they are common among the habits of successful people everywhere.

They continuously duplicate these pointers to train their mind for how to achieve financial freedom.

Let's look at these suggestions and steps to becoming financially independent within yourself, first, so, then, you may use the power of reflection to deliver it to your external life:

Tip 1 - Act and behave like you are already financially stable.

In this circumstance, it is financial stability. Ask yourself, if I am already financially well-off, what would I do?

By beginning to act like a success and think like a success, you are teaching your mind that you are expanding your constraints, and as you practice this you will begin to purchase more of the important things you want in your life and manifesting money to pay for them will occur.

Seek out the way to success, and then take action. This is the law of money attraction, or as some call it, "The Law of Divine Compensation."

Suggestion 2 - Be grateful and show gratitude for any money you receive.

For how to achieve financial freedom you should show thankfulness for the inner-wealth which is currently in your life.

Instead of grumbling how little financial stability you have, be grateful that you currently have a passion and purpose, and will have more and offer thanks to God or whatever greater power you believe in.

Tip 3 - Giving thanks.

The next time when you get money, instead of barely discovering it, take a few minutes to provide thanks to the Universe, or, as the Course in Miracles terms the "Holy Spirit," for bridging the gap from your sleeping mind to awakened truth of the abundance within you.

Each time you get your paycheck or each time you've earned money, do appreciate the truth and see that money and stop is flowing into your life.

By being grateful for manifesting money even through your employment, more wealth attraction will seem to be yours.

Pointer 4 - Be open to manifesting money opportunities.

Ask yourself an honest question: Why it is people who are financially well-off always have cash making chances and that you do not?

The response is that you are just not searching for becoming financially independent opportunities deep enough within you, first, and then manifest money into your material world. Or when opportunities are presented you, you are judgmental and too critical and let skepticism rule over you.

In order to see financial stability, your subconscious mind must be open to the concept of money flowing to you.

By doing that, you are teaching your subconscious mind that you are not going to put out effort on reflecting your inner abundance into your outer world.

Your subconscious mind can not compare a cent and a million bucks.

All that your mind realizes is how you feel, which are thoughts stowed away somewhere in your subconscious mind that you do not wish to begin manifesting money.

This mindset can likewise be available in lots of other kinds such as whenever you do decline a present or do not charge somebody for work done or charge them less than you ought to be, or you offer an item for less than it is worth, you are creating the exact same feelings.

For how to achieve financial freedom, you need to accept the wealth that is rightfully yours including that dime on the street.

To attracting wealth into your life!

Success And State Of Being

Reaching success is in most cases the result of deliberate, persistent, and constant action on a set of causal variables that allow a positive outcome. In the spiritual world, as in business, people always ask if there is a strategy or plan to follow, as if having a plan was the predictive factor of the ability to achieve the desired result. Having a plan gives clarity and direction and the ability to predict success at a rational level. Of course, we have to follow it if we want it to give us the knack to transform ourselves into masters of success production, and this, of course, depends only on us. Only we can make magic happen.

The first element of predicting success is our commitment to making the necessary changes, additions and cancellations of what needs to be transformed within and around us. This allows us to live and ride the standard set of success indicators to achieve our predictable desired goal. Using the behavior template below will help predict our desired future success safely. Our own opponent is only us. We should always strive to set the rudder bar of our life on a superior course and progress steadily from what we currently are.

I feel competition as a motivation and see the success of others as an inspiration of what is possible to achieve and overcome.

I get out of my comfort zone regularly and push to try, and practice, new and bold things.

I manage my feelings, let them out, observe them, and proceed with my decisions, behavior, and ability to move toward my goal.

I accept and love the challenge when it is launched, or I hear that something can not be done; this invigorates and excites me.

I am always in action, even when I do nothing, and catch my brain signals inciting me to get something new.

I control my mind and focus coherently on the positive and how to capitalize it to build new strategies and achieve my results.

I depend on my trust in myself rather than my friends or other human beings and realize that the most consistent and reliable source of strength and support resides in my depths, and that, when I appreciate myself, I can draw energy at any time.

I remember that I live in an infinite reality and have endless abilities and opportunities to apply and consolidate the success indicators that guide my path to what is already planned and due to me.

I'm on my way; I open to others, approach them, engage with them, and get involved.

I push myself in all the ways; I talk, attend, join, invite, and encourage.

I kindly let others enter; comfortably, routinely, and inexorably.

The key to success is to be part of the whole.
