Are You Able to Answer the Biggest Question?

"When you dance, your purpose is not to get to a certain place on the floor. It's to enjoy each step along the way."- Wayne Dyer

I love to learn. I love to read. If an idea or topic catches my attention and my gut says, "Yes, that one!", I dive in.

My heart races, my soul soars. I'm on fire and ready to soak it in.

Give me the book to read. Tell me what class to take. Who is my teacher? What lesson am I to learn? I'm ready! Let's go!

That's how it happens for me and that's how I ended up in the class, years ago now, which asked the big question -- What is your big why?

Who doesn't want to know that, I wondered? Wouldn't it make life so much easier to know the purpose, cause, or belief that inspires you and to wake up every day motivated to do it?

Sounded pretty darned good to me -- sign me up!

The class began with a number of simple, key questions to answer about our childhood. Easy enough to answer. But then, we went deeper.

We were asked to remember something in our lives that was painful or changed us forever -- what Dr. Phil calls, "A life defining moment!"

We were given ample time to recall and describe it -- to write it all down. As we did so, more questions were asked to help us peel away and reveal why this moment or event was so significant.

Why did it stick with us after all these years? What did it tell us about our purpose? How did it drive us in life?

Amazingly enough, these questions led directly to the answer we came to find out -- For what purpose was I intended?

And, to this day, I have not forgotten mine -- to right wrongs.

My antennae go up immediately when I sense, feel, or see a wrong. I can hardly contain myself to fix or correct it. I find myself looking for answers to make it right -- to solve the issue.

Once I figured out my purpose, it became obvious why I had picked particular careers in my life. Banking. Finance. CPA. Internal Auditor. Financial Counselor. All had some element of structured, well-defined rights and wrongs. Rules to follow. And, a clear line that gave warning when something was wrong.

It helped clarify my path in life and in my business-- to honor my purpose in all that I do. To say NO to anything that did not fit it. I have found that I fail if I try to do it another way -- or I am miserably unhappy.

It is the biggest question after all -- Why are you here? What is your BIG WHY?

It is more important than most of us recognize -- our souls know it and yearn for us to live it. In fact, research has shown that Knowing Your Purpose In Life Could Help You Live Longer. (Forbes Nov. 2014)

Yet, somehow we've lost track of why we are here. In all our "busyness", our focus has gotten narrowed on the aspects of day-to-day life. We grew up and in the process we let go of and forgot why we are here. We believed what we were told -- that it was time to be an adult and do grown-up things. Put aside those childish ways.

Sadly, we then left behind the essence of who we are -- we bought into the belief that it, too, is childish. We moved on to what we were taught "should" be our purpose, our goal, and life path.

We then end up believing our purpose are the roles we play in life -- mother, sister, wife, teacher, employee, manager, healer, coach, writer, artist, business owner, etc. Seldom is it your purpose.

And, there begins the agonizing trek back to finding it once again, revealing it to ourselves, and living fully into it. Many of us go to our deathbeds not ever rekindling that purpose consciously. It plays out in the background of our lives, calling to us, and yet, going unheard.

Isn't it time you asked the biggest question of all? WHY AM I HERE? I promise, there is an answer. And, it is a personal one just for you. No one else has the same one -- only you are here to express it.

It does affect all that you do. It guides you in all decisions and questions you may have. The best career path to take. Whether to marry or not. Am I meant to buy that house or live that lifestyle?

But, be sure to take Wayne Dyer's advice... "your purpose is not to get to a certain place... It's to enjoy each step along the way."

The Lies You Tell Yourself and What to Do About Them (By Debbie Peterson)

Image result for challenges

I've got a little introspection going on right now. I've got a BIG birthday coming and I'm in transition back to the South for the winter. Transition always makes me look inward. I look back and see all the different phases of my life and all the ways I've evolved. How some things changed and moved along so easy, like foods that I will or will not eat for instance, and other things with less ease, like beliefs about myself and my abilities.

When I was little my parents had this enormous garden, well at least it was enormous to me but that could have been because of my size. They started seeds under the grow lights in the basement, rototilled, planted, weeded, watered and staked up plants that needed support. They would pick and can their produce in endless sessions in the steamy basement and then carefully place it in the root cellar. Rows and rows of homegrown food... Can you imagine? Oh - the love!

... and I would shun it.

I wouldn't eat any of it. Well, just the corn and carrots. Anything else, forget it. Beans -not unless they're jelly and only if they're fruit not spice! Beets - no way! Brussel sprouts - only if you can catch me!

What I wouldn't give for the produce from that garden today because my tastes have changed, I've changed. As an adult every once in a while I will try a food again. Why not? If I still don't like it then I just won't eat it anymore. I found out that I love brussel sprouts, artichokes, asparagus, mushrooms, and all kinds of beans. You can still keep the beets though.

Other ways that I've changed haven't been as easy or deliberate, but it could have been. Here's what I mean.

I had certain beliefs about myself as I grew up - what I believed I could do, what I believed I couldn't do, and it certainly would have been much easier and much faster if I would have handled it like the vegetables. Just try it... and if it didn't work out, then don't do it again. But instead, it was "easier" to hold onto those beliefs (and not try) and label them as just part of "who I am". "I'm not good at math", "It's not easy for me to learn something new", "I'm not good enough to... " just fill in the blank.

These are called limiting beliefs. They limit what you think about yourself, what you feel you are capable of; they limit how you go about living your life. You cling to them because they've been around so long they are just part of who you are. They are things you believe about yourself that happen "full-time", they just are, they aren't questioned - but they should be!

Where are limiting beliefs showing up in your life? What do you tell yourself that you can't do, aren't good at, it's not for you? Take a piece of paper and write them down. Every.Single. One.

Now, what I'd like you to do is go down the page and do this exercise with each one.

You see, once I was able to identify how this thinking would show up in my life, I was able to question it. I was able to expand the walls of that thinking (either by blowing a hole in it or chiseling an opening) and move into a whole new world of positive beliefs.

Here are 3 questions that you can use to loosen the walls of your limiting beliefs:

Who says? Really, who is it that says you aren't' good enough or can't do something? What expert has labeled you as such? Oh! I know, it's the expert that lives inside your head - they stayed at the Holiday Inn last night, right? Where there is a will, there is a way. Just keep swimming!

When is the last time you tried it? Just like the veggies, you have to try it again as an adult. You have to try it in a different way. Insanity is doing the same thing again and again expecting a different result, right? Mix it up. How can you go about it differently? Treat it as an experiment and the results are just feedback for you to make a different decision in the future.

How can you learn? If it is something that is in your reality, then it's for you. You just have to figure out how to get it. Who knows about this? What course can you take? What book can you read? Who is successful at this that you can model?

When you catch yourself with a limiting belief in your life, use the above questions and I'd love to hear how it shifts your thinking by leaving a comment below.

When you stop trying new things you miss out on a key element to building your Confidence - taking action! Just like the zucchini, sometimes you have to try it.

Be good to yourself,

It's High Time

Image result for surround yourself with those who make you happy

One day, some day; everyone says those words; not typically filled with anticipation but more like a long sigh and then those familiar words; one day, maybe. This is the result of becoming dazed and confused in life. We miss the opportunities when they come, relegating hopes and dreams to one day or someday; but not now. You've fallen asleep in life when you become enmeshed in the 'say nots,' violating every rule in the success book.

The words' say not' may have first been written in the Bible. It is filled with the words 'say not' in its directions to us, lest we chase away our good by proclaiming what is not possible in our lives. The words have emerged in a multitude of places when others want to remind us to get into a 'can do' state of mind. These words violate the foundation of possibility thinking. Saying we can't or maybe one day or someday is a reflection of the low times in life. There is little expectation for today.

Isn't it high time that you woke up to find that a problem that seemed impossible to surmount has been resolved? High times in life are when things suddenly and inexplicably change in life, when life changes on a dime. That's your high time. What changed? You woke up to what can be or might be, today. It is an attitude of expectation. When you grasp the high time mentality you are standing closer to your victory. You're expecting it to arrive!

If it doesn't arrive today, don't go back to sleep. This happens when you surround yourself with people who share the same dysfunction as you. A misery loves company mentality erases your opportunity. Look for people who are what you want to become, who are doing what you want to do and make a habit of being around them in some fashion. What you seek is lurking in the energy of that crowd. Ditto for the ones who share what you are trying to combat. Energy sticks like Velcro, all energy. Make it a point to surround yourself with people who are what you see yourself becoming. Look around you, you already have done this. If you are not seeing what you want to become, get into a different energy zone.

High time is the promise of life. Consciously move into the energy field of what you want in life; of where some day or one day has already happened. Success begets success because it is enveloped in the energy of success. It's high time for you when you leave the company of 'say not' hopelessness, of maybe, someday and one day and join the is mentality where now resides.

5 Hugely Helpful Tips To Create Success In Your Business

1. Believe that you can.

This is the most important step. Often people think their circumstances are blocking them. But, the truth is you can change every single thing about your life IF you focus on where you want to go versus where you have been or where you are right now. If you don't like your job, house, income, business or personal relationships, ALL of those things can be improved or totally changed if YOU are willing to change.

2. Invest time and money into your education.

Most people think they know it all. If you want to truly understand what you KNOW... just look at your results. Your results in your bank account, relationships and career are exactly what you know?

IF those results aren't fantastic then you must invest time and possibly money into your education. I purchase educational courses all the time and coaches to help me get new results. I do this because learning from someone who has the kind of results I want makes my progress much faster and time is precious. IF your life isn't where you want it to be, how soon would you like to change it? Invest in courses or a coach to help you change it that much faster.

3. Stop caring what others think.

I was told I was crazy for starting this industry. Things like "What do you know about making money online?" or "How can you know anything about running a business?" Guess what? I'm glad I didn't listen to them and listened more to my gut and myself. Life's so different now for me and in a positive and meaningful way. I get to earn an income and help others at the same time... Best of both worlds.

4. Stop comparing yourself to others.

YES, there will be people that change their life bigger and faster than you... so what? You don't know their journey and most of the time the truth is they have just simply been on their journey for longer so why compare? The point is to make progress on a daily basis not attempt to progress further than anyone else each day.

5. Celebrate your wins. (big or small)

This is a MUST. I see people that generate their first lead online or recruit their first rep only to complain or moan about how long it took them to do it. The first recruit, the first lead and the first $1,000 ARE THE HARDEST to generate! It is much easier to go from $1,000 to $10,000 a month than it is to go from 0 to $1,000. Celebrate your wins! Big or small...

But wait there's more... You accomplished a new result, now stay in the game and continue that momentum and go create another result and celebrate that too.

Get the motivation than will keep you moving as you progress in your journey here.

How To Motivate Yourself To Overcome Total Laziness

I’m lazy. That’s right. And there’s nothing wrong with being lazy at all.
To give you context, here’s what I mean when I say I’m lazy.
If I could snap my fingers and have my dinner prepared for me in a flash, I’d do it without a doubt. That would save me a LOT of time.
If I could turn my laptop on by pressing a button on my smartphone (someone should invent that), then I’d gladly do it.
If I had to decide between shopping online and shopping offline in the supermarket, I’d do it online because it takes less time and less effort.
If I had to choose between shopping in the day time and shopping at night, I’d do it at night. Because there’s less people, less queue’s, less headache and less effort on my part.
Laziness only becomes a problem when you let your lazy tendencies interfere with your life and your priorities.
If laziness is doing exactly that to you, for example – playing video games all day and night, and having your girlfriend bring you food and water because you’re too lazy to do it yourself… (Hopefully it hasn’t gotten that bad for you) Here’s how you can motivate yourself to overcome it.

1. Put the repercussions into perspective.

I used to play video games throughout the day and throughout the night. Almost everyday. Sometimes everyday. Sometimes a few days a week.
Sometimes I’d wake up at 12-2PM in the afternoon. On rare occasions it was 4PM. On a lot of occasions I’d go to bed at 3-5AM after gaming so much playing Halo, etc.
When It became a habit I had no job at the time. I was looking, but I obviously wasn’t putting in enough work as you can probably tell.
I abused my time playing games, after all. Which in business talk, has a poor ROI over the long term.
Imagine how many books I could have read, how much money I could have made, or many important skills I could have developed in that time?
So what did I do about it? Eventually the repercussions were put into perspective. Not by choice either. Here’s what those repercussions looked like.
  • Will my future be something to look forward to? Will it be exciting?
  • If I keep this up how do I expect to live out my dreams, my goals, and what’s important to me?
  • If I keep this up for the next 10 years, I’ll be in my 30’s and 40’s, with no life, no prospects, no career, followed by a miserable future.
  • If I keep this up, will I be happy with where my life has taken me 10-20 years from now?
  • Will I feel better about myself and how I’m spending my time?
I’m 26 today. For the past 3+ years I’ve been working on myself harder than I ever have in my life. And I haven’t bought a video game ever since.
My priorities and my future are too important for that procrastinating BS. I’ve changed as much as a cocoon changes after morphing into a butterfly.
What about you though? Whatever your situation is in regards to sheer laziness, write out a list of the repercussions of your actions. And put a time line on it. 5 years. 10 years. 20-30 years from now.
How does your life look that far into the future if you continue to do what you’re doing today? If you continue to waste your time on foolishness?
Will your future self be happy with the life he or she has created a decade or so from now?
You already know the answer. And If that’s not motivating enough, I have another solution for you.

2. Commit to your purpose.

I know, I know. It probably sounds corny and is an overused word. But when I say purpose I’m not talking about the “find your life’s purpose, you’ll know it when you see it” BS. It’s a lot simpler than that.
At some point along my journey I realized what was important to me, what mattered, what I care about, what I want my life to look like 100%, and what my reasons were.
And that’s really all it takes to go from being lazy one day, and being so driven the next day that you can’t believe you were ever lazy in the first place.
Ask yourself:
  • What do I want my life to look like?
  • What are my reasons?
  • Who benefits other than myself?
  • Why am I doing it?
  • Who am I doing this for?
  • What’s important to me?
  • What is it I care about doing?
  • What is it I want out of my life?
  • What fulfills me?
  • What is it I want to accomplish?
And then write down ALL your answers. Be as detailed as possible. Make it clear. Read over it, and then get to work.
The reason this is a great solution to solving your problems with laziness and procrastination, is because it matters. It’s compelling. It pulls on your heart strings. And it means a LOT to you.
Yes It will take practice and commitment to completely rid yourself of the habit, but these two solutions I’ve laid out will be enough to get you started.
And along your journey if you do ever come to a point where you’re procrastinating, or wanting to be lazy, simply ask these questions again.
Look at your questions again. Look over your answers. Then your focus will switch to what’s important to you. And your actions will speak for themselves.
