The Trick to Finding Balance

Heard the saying "Too much of a good thing is not good"? That's exactly right! Too much good is simply not balanced. So I am on my perfect holiday where you get all the peace and quiet. Everything is harmonious and just how I had wanted it, for days on. Until one day a family with an autistic kid arrives next door (the resort is only 6 semi-detached houses on a private beach). O boy, talk about noise and total lack of peace and quiet! Finally! Balance is restored.

So what does Balance really mean? Many mistakenly think that balance is the same as harmony. However, assuming the existence of harmony is something desirable and positive, whereas its absence is not desirable and deemed negative, then balance and harmony are not at all the same. Rather, balance is the meeting point between harmony and disharmony; it's what you find in the middle. In other words, if you feel harmony, the law of balance will bring you disharmony so you can experience both sides of the scale and come back to balance.

Thus, being in balance is not directly related to feeling good. If you have positive feelings, the law of balance is what brings you negative feelings in the next round so you can experience both sides and come back into balance. In effect, the law of balance attracts the opposite of what you have so the two things can cancel each other out and give you a state of neutrality. If you are looking for too much of the upside and you are resisting or fearing the downside, you are not looking for true balance. Rather, you are hoping to maintain a state of imbalance which, of course, is impossible. So instead of striving for the impossible, it's much better to just let go. Know that the law of balance is always working and always makes sure your life is balanced. The up always comes after the down. And the down always comes after the up.

Importantly, our brain can only experience time as linear and so cannot see the whole (perfectly balanced!) picture in its entirety simultaneously. This accounts for the pain caused by seemingly unbalanced negative experiences (which though are always preceded and always followed by positive ones). Since we operate in a state of limited perception in which we feel fragmented, dual, and separate, we simply can't grasp the fact that everything is connected and goes together. So we feel pain about the "negative" half of our life. But this pain is absolutely inevitable, and it is exactly what balances out the positive half of life in our world of dual perception.

Nevertheless, even with pain being eternal, suffering is still optional. Knowing that the law of balance constantly gives us a cup that's half full and half empty at the same time, and that this equation can never change, can help us accept the limitations and just go with them. Acceptance alone eliminates the struggle and open the door to living in true balance, trusting that things will come to net zero no matter what we do and how we think. Resistance, on the other hand, is what brings the suffering. So don't resist! Accept that you are always going to have a cup half full and half empty (i.e. in balance) and choose to focus on what's in the cup, not on what's missing from it.

Find The Harmony To Your Desire

As soon as you realize a desire, it's as if you have launched a message, and the Universe sends one back. The only job you have to do is to let it in, or be in harmony with the vibrational alignment with your desire.

At first there is a break between you and the thing you desire. You feel it into existence by achieving the energetic equivalent with that which you want. This is accomplished by understanding that feeling place. That's how you achieve vibrational harmony with your want.

Law of Attraction Relationships are supremely rewarding and fulfilling beyond your most wonderful fantasies!

Create the story of the thing you envision as if it already exists, rather than your life experience right now. This is what Neville Goddard says; "Make your future goal a current truth". Keep your alignment practice to yourself unless you have full support of friends or family. They won't understand and may inhibit your creative process.

Feel expectant and eager throughout your day. We're told by Abraham-Hicks that anything you put your attention on for as little as 17 seconds you pull it into your intention. Your vibrational influence begins to gain immense momentum. Feeling well is self-evident of your harmony with what you want. Relationship Attraction has never been more powerful with the discovery of the Law of Attraction.

Naturally, when you desire something, you've got to first notice it is not present. There's an ingrained tendency to feel pain when we don't have what we desire. Negative emotion shows us the difference to (or the opposite of) what IS desired. Negative feelings then become simple information.

Our Inner Being is allowing us negative emotion as an indicator that we're not lined up with who we truly are, an extension of Source Energy, and in the driver's seat of creating our lives. Negative emotion shows us we're holding a belief that we're powerless to manifest our own desires.

On this journey of self-discovery let us discover us. Let us put the judgement aside where we fire negative emotions. We know the tools in this world will not do us any good unless we are able to listen.

We have learned now to deal with negative emotion. Find alignment. Search for reasons to love, reasons to smile, and compliment. Happiness is the only thing that we all seek in our life back again and in return. To feel love and being grateful. Now it is time to move out of negative emotions and shift your world to one of loving-kindness. When you do watch what shifts.

You CAN Control the Outcome in Your Life!

Harmony in the world within. That's the goal. The key. When you have that, you have the ability to control your thoughts and...

... to determine for yourself how any experience is going to affect you.

Think about it!

You are related to the world without by nothing other than the Objective Mind. And your brain is the physical organ of this mind. Likewise, you are related to the world within by the Subconscious Mind. The solar plexus is the organ of this mind. This system of nerves presides over all subjective sensations, such as joy...

... fear...

... love...

... anger...

and imagination.

The Universal Mind is the consciousness pervading the entire universe...

... occupying all space and...

... being the same in kind in every point of existence.

It is all powerful...

... all wisdom...

... and always present.

It is all in all. You might know all of that. And it goes even further. You are connected to Universal Mind through the Subconscious Mind. In this way you are brought into relation with the infinite constructive forces of the Universe.

Read that again.

The.

Infinite.

Constructive.

Forces.

Of.

The.

Universe.

Your consciousness is part of Universal Consciousness like a drop of water is part of the ocean. While it is like in kind, it is not "the ocean." But that's okay because the consciousness that focuses in your brain cells is the same consciousness that focuses in the brain cells of everyone else. And that's huge because each one of us -- you, me, your neighbor down the street, Elon Musk -- is but an individualization of the Universal.

The world within is the cause. The world without is the effect. Thus, to change the effect you must...

... change the cause.

Most people attempt to change effects by working with effects. They keep repeating the same mistakes over and over again. And the effects keep producing more of the same effects.

So what are you to do?

Simple. Change the cause! Work on your world within. Attain harmony in your world within. When you understand this, you will have the power to control the effects in your life. You will begin to substitute abundance for poverty...

... health for sickness...

... wisdom for ignorance...

... harmony for discord, and...

... freedom for tyranny.

You will create the outcomes in your life that you want and desire.

Cease being a plaything of destiny!

Declare your own path!

Clear your own way!

Think!

And you will win.

Discover The Healing Power Of Pyramid Meditation (By Mercedes Oestermann Van Essen)

I have been meditating for over 15 years. During that time I have also tried many different types of meditation with varying degrees of success.

Meditation should bring inner peace, harmony and open one's mind to receive knowledge which isn't accessible to the linear mind. When I discovered the healing power of pyramid meditation by accident, as it happened, a new world opened up for me:

It all began when I was experimenting with improving the effects of my space harmonizing pyramids.

I was given a helping hand by a very experienced healer and pyramid expert. Armed with the new secret ingredient I embarked on an intense pyramid production journey experimenting with different materials. I could feel the increased power from the new pyramids compared to the pyramids I had created before.

The biggest revelation though happened when one day I idly placed one of the new creations on my forehead.

Well, I had the biggest surprise of my life:

Within a few minutes my brain entered in a state of deep harmony. I began to see different worlds with my inner vision. I couldn't believe my eyes at the immense clarity of this inner vision which unfolded like a huge HD screen in front of my inner eyes. Was I dreaming? No. Within a couple of days I was given proof of what I had seen: I came across a video on the internet with the exact images I was shown when meditating with the pyramid in my head.

I continued to meditate with the new pyramid on my head. The healing power of pyramid meditation revealed itself to me in many ways each time I meditated.

I have verified many a vision I received from healing pyramid meditation.

I went back to my old pyramids, the effect wasn't the same. In fact I found that only the new formula pyramids provided the powerful harmonizing impact on the brain that enables one to access information the mind cannot possibly access in the linear way.

Well, I hardly need to tell you how excited I felt about the new discovery.

Now, many months into pyramid meditation I have had many amazing insights, visions and healing experiences. My own ability to do healing work with clients and buildings has increased ten fold since I have worked with the pyramids.

My connection to cosmic forces has strengthened. It seems like the pyramid meditation creates a bridge between one's consciousness and the universe which is an amazing experience.

I have given the pyramids to my partner and friends to experiment.

Every one of them also experienced the amazing energy from the pyramids in their own way.

In order to get the best results meditation needs to be focused on an intention. When you do this the beneficial effect increases and becomes measurable. If you can measure the impact of a technique in some way, the logical part of the brain will accept the new practice effortlessly.

I encourage you to find out more about the healing power of pyramid meditation. I write about it regularly in my blog and share new insights about the healing pyramid meditation techniques I am creating, or is it the universe that is creating them for me?

Getting Bitter Or Better? 7 Simple Ways to Bring Harmony and Healing Into Your Life

How Are You Dealing With Anger?

Anger is suffering which many people do not realise. It is one of the reasons there are so many estranged families in society today and it is no surprise we become bitter rather than better when facing anger.

A couple who simply do not know how to treat each other anymore or parents who feel they have the right, even responsibility, to discipline their children with aggression.

Some people think it is normal to live in a household where shouting and saying hurtful things is acceptable behaviour and even bring this kind of aggression to the work environment.

What Is The Reason For Anger?

Whatever the reason for your anger perhaps it is time for peace.

A life filled with anger cannot be called a happy life. Some people consider anger to be the source of their power. It gives them the illusion of respect, but not in reality. In others, anger is a defence mechanism that is supposed to protect them, but it actually puts them in harms way.

Sometimes the realisation is not what comes first, but trouble and a breakdown of communication at home or work. Shouting louder does not result in the connections you desire.

Trying to control others will make you even more bitter, it just creates a vicious, losing cycle. If you realise that change needs to be made, you have to also realise that you can't control the feelings and opinions of others

To learn how to rekindle your love and get less angry less often you will need to realise the hurt you are doing to yourself and seek help, eventually bringing harmony and healing into your life.

7 Simple Ways to Bring Harmony and Healing Into Your Life

Just as laughing can be contagious, bitterness can also spread.

It will not only be you with the problem with anger, it often takes at least two. So if you want to stand up for change, not only on behalf of yourself, but for the sake of your entire household, your work colleagues or maybe even your employees make a decision to shift your focus from bitter to better.

Asking yourself the following questions could provide you with a strategy for a simple life and for positive energy to flow.

1. Could I have interpreted the provocation differently, if so how?
2. Could I have been more positive about the other people involved?
3. Could I/should I have avoided the whole situation?
4. Was the anger justified?
5. Could I have expressed my anger differently?
6. Were there other things that affected your anger?
7. If you had acted differently how would the outcome have changed?

Transform Judgment into Grace

It is much better to seek out help voluntarily, instead of being forced, help received after being sought proves more effective. You can also find solutions for anger management online.

Not only are online anger management classes convenient and prove very helpful for resolving anger problems, but they serve as a tool for self-development and opportunity to learn more about yourself; a benefit that has a positive impact on all areas of your life.

Losing your temper constantly with those you love the most is no longer an option. The most effective approach is to set the example for change and be better.

Instead search out the fun, approach people with a positive energy and create a better energy in your home.

Three Questions That Can Help Reduce Angry Reactions at Work

Managing our angry reactions in the workplace is crucial to maintaining harmony in the company as well as balancing our business and personal lives. Everyone encounters situations at work that make them angry. What are your triggers?

Is it a Micro-managing boss? An annoying complaining co-worker that always get their way? Perhaps it's those redundant reports that are required which could be eliminated with one quick memo, but instead take hours.

Conflict at work is inevitable, yet learning how to manage and control it, and moving through those difficult situations is critical to the success of the organization as well as your individual growth in your career.

Knowing what your anger triggers are at work is the first step towards managing your anger.

Consider making a list of the things that anger you at work over the next two weeks.

List these three questions:

What was the situation?

What exactly was it that made me angry?

What was I thinking and feeling at the time?

After two weeks review your list and look for patterns.

Consider different things you could have done to avoid the conflict.

Consider constructive ways you can change the situations that cause the problem.

One quick method to control anger is to recognize the difference between Reacting and Responding.

When we react to something, we often do so quickly and without much thought, like a reflex. Whereas if we respond, we think about our actions before we act. Reaction is a negative term, such as when the doctor says you are having a reaction to the prescribed medication, whereas if he says you are responding to the medication that is a positive sign.

The point being, if we think about the situation in advance, we can plan a positive response, as opposed to a negative reaction.

We cannot control the way others are going to act, but we can control how we respond. For example, taking an inventory of what is happening in our personal lives, the stresses we have at home, and comparing them with those we encounter at work, can help us see how both can contribute to each other. It is impossible to completely separate the two. However, understanding how they interact can help alleviate the strain each may have on the other. It is easy to see how stress from home that is carried into the office can make one more susceptible to having an angry reaction to things at work, and vice versa.

Communication is very important, both in the workplace and at home. Whereas we may not feel comfortable, nor think it is appropriate to share our personal struggles with our co-workers, just having an awareness of how one affects the other can be helpful in reducing angry reactions. Being able to objectively look at how we react or respond to circumstances at work can eliminate many instances of anger.

Knowing what contributes to our anger, what our triggers are, and having a plan for responding can help reduce incidents of anger at work, and allow us to be more productive and secure in the workplace.

Attitude Is the Key (By Paula De Souza)

What do Jennifer Aniston, Elizabeth Gilbert, and myself have in common. No, not money, nor good looks but any number of messed up relationships! If we were to meet, we would likely agree on at least one thing! Life can be managed successfully, whether in a relationship or not, whether with someone or on your own.

Three generations of women, 3 different experiences and III similar conclusions! Jennifer Aniston's life is well publicized, Elizabeth Gilbert, wrote the bestseller, Eat, Pray and Love, about a woman, who after several aborted relationships, went travelling solo to find her life goal.

I viewed, the movie, Eat Pray and Love from my balcony on the cruise ship, The Oasis of the Seas, alone! I had many strange experiences on that cruise, including meeting a passenger, who I now believe was on his way to join ISIS. He appeared to have developed a very negative attitude to life and people.

In addition, during that cruise I found myself attending an event for solo travelers. To my horror and sincere trepidation, I found that most were not solo travelers at all in its true sense! Most were travelling with someone and so were not alone and truly solo travelers through my eyes!

Recently, a friend of mine said, "I have not taken a holiday in 10 years!" I replied, "Well, I have taken in excess of 10 holidays!" The main differences between myself and Andy is that he owns a home and a car.

I own neither a car or home and have relatively few material possessions, a bit similar to Gandhi but not quite. I believe another similarity between myself and Gandhi is that he hoped that all people all over the world despite their religion or culture would experience peace and harmony in their life time.

My friend, Andy, like many other people has focused most of his efforts in life on security. On the other hand, I have focused on travelling and developing a positive attitude. I have found that experiences as opposed to possessions have opened the door to happiness for me!

Lastly, my dad Louis Fynaut, survived Auschwitz and Buchenwald concentration camps, during World War II. He was a Belgian political prisoner and Never Gave Up.

I believe one of the main reasons my dad survived is because he possessed a good attitude to life. When he was alive he taught me that experiences are the key and that a positive attitude will unlock the door to many wonderful things in my life.

My dad had a big influence on me. I know for sure that if he were alive today, he would be very pleased to know that I haven't let the world slate me into a position that is not for me. I know that my attitude is the key and that ultimately nobody but myself can help me - I have to develop and do it alone but with the help of other good people both dead and alive.

Never give up on your life whatever happens! If my dad had given up in Buchenwald and Auschwitz I would not be sitting here today. Remember you can do anything you want whether you are with someone or not. The key to a good life is a positive attitude. Good Luck and keep on growing and experiencing.

A True Story On Letting Go Of A Confused Mind And Rising Above To Finding Peace Within (By James Nussbaumer)

How to find peace within yourself even when you're always asking yourself things like, "What to do when you hate your life, or asking, "Why is this happening to me", can feed a confused mind.

It really isn't that easy when the jail cell is only six feet wide, with a concrete bench about a foot from the floor that held a torn, thin foam mattress, or what was left of one.

You 'd find that the steel bars and concrete that surrounded me securely didn't at all help me to answer how to find peace within yourself if this were you. Being dressed in the rags they called an orange jumpsuit, I was not going anywhere.

A Course in Miracles teaches that, "Perception always involves some misuse of mind, because it brings the mind into areas of uncertainty."

A small window was positioned near the top of the high block walls within inches of the ceiling. That window reminded me of the window in the fruit cellar of the basement in my grandparents' old house.

This, perhaps, you might say, would give a glimpse how to find peace within yourself.

I found that by lying on the floor and positioning my body against the wall of that cell, I could look up and through the window to see the sky, finding peace within.

My hopes were to try anything, however slight, to strap onto some sort of sanity of peace and harmony.

My anxiety and depression, along with a confused mind told me there was nothing to see out that window anyway, and the numbness I felt only added to the confused void that held me about: why is this happening to me?

What to do when you Hate your Life:

The jail cell was cold, and darkness was the view through the window, just as my depressed thinking said it would be. It was like; how to find peace within yourself?

I did notice a hint of the glow from a nearby moon.

The noise around me, and up and down the long corridor of double bunked jail cells, was horrendous, louder than a crowd in a sold-out arena. My numbness almost managed to block it out as I half-heartedly thought of ways to end my life.

A recurring set of thoughts that haunted me was, what to do when you hate your life, or, how can I live with myself?

Suddenly I became aware of what an odd thought that really was: Am I seeking for and think I am finding peace within by trying to be one being, or two?

My supper of beans and rice on a plastic tray was slid into the cell through a slot in the bars at floor level.

I left it untouched on the floor until lights out, like you 'd perhaps think, "How to find peace within yourself."

When I awoke from a brief nap to clammy darkness, the guard came by to nab the food tray-- well, at least I thought she did.

Can we begin Finding Peace Within?

The moon had changed positions and was now squarely framed in the tiny window, which my eyes grabbed onto in peace and harmony.

I now had a companion; that wonderful moon, and it remained in the window for what seemed to be a few hours.

Even after it moved its position, its glow was still apparent, with a backsplash of stars filling the sky.

I remember the calming, peaceful sight as I lay on the floor against the wall to gain the only available view. Maybe, I 'd relay this one day to people who are thinking, "How to find peace within yourself."

With my body still numb, that sky seemed very friendly.

My mind would vacillate between "thinking" and "no-thinking," or the "I" and "self." My "no-thinking" was merely a fixed gaze through the window and into the sky, nothing more, but with thoughts of why is this happening to me.

The "thinking" part of me continued its questions on "how to live with myself," or mostly like, how to find peace within yourself.

This side of me was getting weaker and more frightened as I began to recognize that there was nowhere as a body that I could hide or go to begin finding peace within.

The more I remained on the no-thinking side, the less fear I felt, and the more peace and harmony entered my psyche.

I remembered a thought, or a willingness, perhaps, which I had: to never feel the need to hide anything. It said to "let go" of whatever held me to the habitual thinking that had consumed me for so long.

More Peace and Harmony

I began having more thoughts, telling me that, although I was heading off to prison now, there was nothing to be afraid of.

Still there were sustaining fears and self-pity I could not get a grip on, such as, "Why is this happening to me?", and "What is going to become of me?"

As I continued to focus through the window, an additional, brand-new thought came clearly through my mind: "Nothing you see from this jail cell means anything."

It was my thought, my own, for sure; but I "heard" it as though it was talking to me.

Or maybe I can say it was thinking for me. This one thought persistently hounded me through my numbness.

My eyes opened widely as I suddenly realized the window was gone. It had simply vanished, along with the cell, the bars, the concrete floor, walls, and bench.

The entire building was gone.

There was nothing, only me, now sitting up in an Indian-style position with arms crossed over my legs. I was still staring at the moon and stars and even noticed how calm I was, and yet amazed.

I thought, "Is this how to find peace within yourself?"

How can you Live with Yourself?

Next, the darkness of the sky faded quickly away.

Yes, I mean, no sky, but oddly all its glory, had and remained merged together, and I felt held by it.

The stars had gathered into dense groups and attached themselves to the outer edges of the moon.

Now the moon was centered in an endless array of sparkling clusters, lighting up my view of the magnificent sight that welcomed me.

I looked down at my legs and feet, and they were gone too. I raised my arms and hands, and they were gone.

Since I had no hands to feel my face, I was convinced it no longer existed either.

My entire body was gone.

I was still there; I existed, feeling a sensation all around me as the most peaceful I've ever experienced. It was like anyone can see how to find peace within yourself.

I thought to myself, How can I see and feel all this beauty and the light without having eyes to see with?

Why is this Happening to me?

Another sensation or thought entered my mind that said, "It's okay, relax, you are already being taken care of.

Plans are made.

Events and things are being arranged at this moment, getting things ready for you. You're going to do well."

Next came a thought that told me all my errors were not real, so not to worry-- that at that very moment from many places, forgiveness was shining on me.

It also said to "let go."

The emptiness and numbness were gone, along with everything else that had faded away.

I've heard and read about people who have said they hear voices talking to them; for example, people who say, "God spoke to me."

With me, here, this was not the case.

This was pure thought, rather than a voice. Pure of a thought that there was no doubting or questioning it whatsoever. Real that it is unexplainable, but is certain.

A thought with "no-thinking."

I said to myself, "So this is what everything is all about. I am real, regardless of my body.".

I went on to consider that this is what the Bible really means by "There is no death," and why Jesus demonstrated "There really is no death." I had always felt deep down that I was fooling myself or allowing the world to fool me.

Letting go of the Confused Mind.

Now I was able to see how I had deprived myself by allowing my mind to buy into this "fire in hell" concept claimed by the world, and the devil below. There is no such thing.

A Course in Miracles states that, "Consciousness, the level of perception, was the first split introduced into the mind after the separation, making the mind a perceiver rather than a creator.".

Next, all of a sudden, the moon and stars grew so bright with light that my eyes blurred, watery with tears.

As I raised my hands to wipe them, I realized everything had reappeared as if nothing had ever happened. I was sitting there, cross-legged, with all my body parts, and inside the jail cell.

What I experienced was not a dream and was real, however so brief-- maybe an instant.

Time seemed to have suspended itself, so it didn't matter how long the experience lasted. I looked up to see the tray of food was still there.

The guard had not yet picked it up.

You, as well as others, have had similar type experiences about how to find peace within yourself, perhaps only to quickly dismiss them as a daydream or your imagination running away. Who knows how real your own experiences might have been?

One thing for sure that we do know, though, is that the world is always at our side, ready and vigilant to quickly dismiss them as fantasy or delusion.

To tapping into your true reality within you!

How To Have Inner Peace And Where To Find Happiness, Balance And Harmony In Life

If you're looking for where to find happiness and not succeeding, perhaps you're looking in the wrong places.

We can begin the quest for where to find happiness by separating our memories into a few different chests for different reasons, if you will.

The 'Treasure Chest' of the mind is where we put our most valued memories.

When searching for a happy life; contentment, balance and comfort and harmony in life, we open this chest.

The 'Hope Chest' of our mind is for our goals and objectives and for imagining how tomorrow will turn out to be a tremendous success.

As each is fulfilled it is then moved to our Treasure Chest.

The 'Dumpster Chest' of the mind is for letting go of the things we no longer what to hold onto.

When in this chest they are discarded, to be forever released and surrendered.

When these memories are put in the Dumpster Chest you need to never go digging them out.

The Course in Miracles states, "There is no need to learn through pain."

Your ideas are a reflection of who and what you are, and also help you get the life you want and how to have inner peace.

Delighted people have delighted ideas.

That doesn't mean that the pleased person never has a wrong-minded ego-based thought, it means the happy person knows the best ways to move these bad attitudes and the like into the Dumpster Chest and then forget them.

If someone mentions something poorly about you and is not pleasant, or somebody acts and is very distasteful, don't take it to heart, it is not a reflection of you, but a reflection of them.

It's merely what remains in their Treasure Chest or Hope Chest that should have been put in their Dumpster Chest?

If you want to enjoy, take the time to listen and sit, and then believe about your ideas and destiny.

Put the good ones in your Treasure Chest or Hope Chest and the bad ones in your Dumpster Chest.

Focus just on your Treasure Chest and Hope Chest for they are now full of the jewels of hope and joy, and it's where to find happiness.

The Course in Miracles also states, "What gives you happiness you want to learn and not forget."

Simply keep in mind without judgement or condemnation that happy and peaceful individuals spend their effort adding to their Treasure and Hope chests, while dissatisfied individuals spend their time arranging through the dumpster.

Leave the garbage behind and become a treasure hunter if you are serious about where to find happiness and joy.

To a happy life!

Do You Have the Necessary Discipline?

I believe 100% in the importance of "mindset" in successfully accomplishing goals. If you believe in your heart of hearts that you either don't deserve success or lack confidence, you simply will not. All of your efforts will be in vain because you are programmed to fail.

How can you tell if your mindset is productive or not? Listen... REALLY LISTEN... to your internal conversation. If you blame others, create excuses or talk about yourself, TO YOURSELF, in a negative way, success will be elusive. In this High Performance Mindset video on YouTube, Michael Gervais, the performance psychologist for the Seattle Seahawks, discusses the importance of this concept. Coach Pete Carroll chimes in as well.

My objective here is to discuss what you need to do once your belief in yourself is unshakable. My friend John Assaraf calls it the Law of GOYA (Get Off Your Ass). I just call it "discipline." My definition of that word: "Doing WHAT needs to be done... WHEN it needs to be done... THE WAY it needs to be done... EVERY TIME!

Start here: Decide what you want to do, what you want to have, and who you want to be and find someone who already has those things. Go to great lengths to meet that person. Copy what they do. Sounds simple; it is! Simple... but not easy! Without discipline... as the saying goes... the road to Hell is paved with good intentions. Here's an example from the best at what he does:

Tom Brady is arguably the best quarterback in the history of the National Football League. Success, as they say, speaks for itself. What you see on the football field, however, is the result of what he does OFF of the field.

• Every morning Tom speaks to his neuropsychologist. He believes that his mind, his body, and his spirit have to be aligned in order to be his best.

• Tom's business partner, and Godfather to one of his children, is Alex Guerrero. Although officially he is Tom's "body coach," he is arguably the most important person in his life, save his supermodel wife, Gisele Bundchen, and his head coach, Bill Belichik. His teammates refer to Guerrero as Mr. Miyagi (the character in The Karate Kid). He is largely responsible for Brady playing at an MVP level in his late 30s and for Brady's aspiration to play until his late 40s or even 50.

• Brady's schedule is planned three years in advance. Every day of it is micro-managed. Treatment, food, workouts, rest, recreation. Per Guerrero: "The whole idea is to program his body to do what we want it to do. We don't let the body dictate. WE dictate."

• Here's a typical Brady vacation day in the off-season: Wake up; work out; have breakfast with Gisele and his children; hang at the beach; nap on schedule; surf; work out again.

He goes to bed early; eats well (more shortly) and avoids alcohol.

• Rather than lifting (metal) weights, Brady uses bands. If you think that one can't get a grueling weight workout with bands, I use them as well. In my arsenal, my exercise bands give me up to 330 pounds of resistance. Guerrero wanted Brady to have more muscle pliability. He noticed that Brady's muscles had become short and brittle using typical weight training.

• Brady's diet is geared, among other things, to give him a balance of acid and alkaline. He consumes food accordingly: 80% alkaline and 20% acidic. Trust me; that isn't easy. His diet is seasonal. In the summer, when it's time for "hot property" foods, he'll consume (for example) red meat. In the winter, he consumes mostly "cold property foods." His diet then is mostly raw. The goal is to maintain balance and harmony through his metabolic system.

• Brady struggles with sleep patterns, so to unwind after games and practices, he does cognitive exercises to destimulate his brain. That allows him to get to sleep by 9 p.m. and wake up without an alarm.

• Brady completes a brain resilience program. After a thorough analysis, he had a program created to workout his brain the way he works out his body. It enables him to process information more quickly than would otherwise be the case. That, in turn, enables him to read defenses between plays and make adjustments on the fly. He believes that his edge is in his mental resiliency and quick processing capability.

I could continue with the long list of things he does to be his best. The point is this: If YOU want to be YOUR best, you have to do the work. Doing the work means both doing the right things, and doing those things right. Otherwise, what's the point?!
