Your Self-Talk And Mental Picture Determines The Level Of Dedication To Your Actions

Develop A New Consciousness And Awareness

What is the predominant self-talk that takes place in your mind? Is it affirmative or a disempowering voice that tries to convince you the world is a dark and scary place? It's easy to get pulled into this narrative because the voices are real and so we conclude they must be true. Or are they? I often use an exercise in seminars where I ask participants to tell me what they will think next. I explain, if they identify with their thoughts, surely they must know what their next thought will be. Unless there are psychics in the audience, rarely do people know what their next thought will be until it occurs. The point is: thoughts come and go from our minds and unless we give them meaning, they have little power in and of themselves.

So let's return to your self-talk. You might be accustomed to listening to the voice in your head, that perhaps you're no longer aware of the negative thoughts? Yet, that is what we must pay attention to if we want to change our circumstances. It's said: thoughts become things, meaning everything in the physical universe begins with a thought. The house or the apartment you live in exists because an architect had an idea for the design of the building. Your smartphone, laptop or computer, began its life with a thought. The point I wish to emphasise is: our reality is the result of our thinking, whether it be positive or negative. When negative circumstances show up, they merely shine the light on the truthfulness of our thoughts.

For example, consider a current problem in your life you want to improve. Do you believe there's a solution you haven't discovered yet? I'm hoping you will realise that the nature of your problem results from your thinking alone. This doesn't mean your thinking is flawed, it means you have directed your thoughts, whether conscious or unconscious to something unwanted and it has manifested as a result. Do you agree, if we want a different outcome, we must change our thoughts or at least our perception of the problem? It was Albert Einstein who once said: "We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used when we created them." Put simply: We must develop a new consciousness and awareness in which to perceive our problems from a higher level. The same consciousness cannot solve the problems created with our current level of thinking.

Awareness Shines The Light On Our Thoughts

How does this relate to your self-talk or mental picture influencing your actions? If we replay the same script and visualise it through the lens of negativity, it must eventually manifest in our life. We agreed earlier that thoughts become things. What we think about and give our attention to, must it show up in our reality? I'm not talking about the law of attraction but universal laws that govern the framework of reality. The Hermetic aphorism states: "As within so without." Meaning, what happens at the level of thoughts is reflected in our reality. When we combine self-talk with a mental picture, we add colour to what appears in our life. We define it and give it energy, irrespective of whether it is a negative thought or a positive one. This is an idea the motivational psychologist and author Dr. Shad Helmstetter emphasises in What To Say When You Talk To Your Self when he says: "Self-Talk is a way to override our past negative programming by erasing or replacing it with conscious, positive new directions. Self-Talk is a practical way to live our lives by active intent rather than by passive acceptance."

People often ask: Does it mean I need to be attentive to every thought? No, since that requires a lot of mental energy best devoted to other things. The key is to observe our thoughts with an expanded awareness instead of remaining unconscious to them. Awareness is the key that unlocks us from the prison of negativity and self-destruction. It is the key to inner peace and freedom because it is the filter for our thoughts. Awareness shines the light on the congruency of our thoughts. If we wish to change our external conditions, being aware of what we think is the first step. I often use the example of a ship changing course midway through its journey in the ocean. First, the captain must change course and map new coordinates and relay this information to his crew. The same is true of ourselves: our awareness shines the light on our inner self-talk and mental picture. If we wish to change our future, it must begin by observing our mind and becoming conscious of our unconscious thoughts. It is only then, the level of dedication to our actions become congruent with a shift in awareness.

Do You Feel Unworthy, Rejected, or A Failure? (By Connie J Lee)

Most of us were not taught to be successful. I wasn't taught to have faith in God, let alone, believe in myself. I had to find that road on my own. I had to create a mental picture of the person I wanted to become, and take steps each day to become her. I closed my eyes, thought of where I would like to be in life, what I would have liked to achieved, where I would like to live, my professional office, my degrees, how I looked, my ideal weight, and even what I smelled like. With this visual image in mind, I stepped into her body. I wanted to resist because I was not having to struggle and fight, everything seemed to flow flawlessly. I made myself stay there until I was comfortable with the new me. It seemed a lot better than going back to where I was.

You deserve a better life. People may have used you, lied to you, abused you, and betrayed you, and made you think you do not deserve better, but you do; and deep down, you know it. We all have insecurities and limiting beliefs. How we let things go, how we do not set healthy boundaries, how we spend our money, how we are afraid to fail, and we are afraid of rejection, all stems from three beliefs we have of ourselves.

  • We are afraid of failure. If we try, we may fail, so you don't try to follow things through, living a self-fulfilling prophecy.
  • We are afraid of rejection. No one will want me or accept me if they truly knew who I am. The right people who are meant to be in your life, will love you and accept you the way you are. "Do not let the opinions of others, define who you are"!
  • We feel unworthy. People in your life may have continually put you down to make themselves feel better, which is a psychological term called, "Leveling".. That has nothing to do with you, and says everything about who they are. Be proud of who you are. You are loved, accepted, and you are very worthy! You may lose a few friends, but you have to surround yourself with people who are on the same mission as you are, or like minded people.

I want to remind you that is okay to believe in your dreams, even when everyone else tells you have an impossible dream. Never let others, who have never achieved their dreams, keep you from obtaining yours. You know what you are capable of and your abilities. Skills and networks will happen along the journey. You just have to put one step in front of the other, and keep moving forward. Yes, you will fail! You will learn from your mistakes and find a better way of accomplishing the task that may lay before you. Have an impossible goal? Make a mind map. Put yourself in the center and your goal on the outside. Lay out each step it will take to get there and how you can make that happen. Find a mentor you can learn the skills you need to. YouTube has plenty of tutorials for you. If you seek a mentor in person or online, be prepared to ask relevant questions, so as to not waste their time and make it a valued experience for the both of you. Nothing is IMPOSSIBLE, which says, "I'M Possible". It is only your limited perspectives, beliefs, and values that put limits on what you could achieve. Whoever made you believe you are not good enough, you don't deserve peace in your life, you will always be rejected, and you are unlovable, was only projecting their fears and insecurities onto you. Shake it off!! Look yourself in the mirror every day, and tell yourself, "I Love You", "I am magnificent and worthy to receive all good things in my life". "I will take 5 actions every day to make that happen, and log them," "I am supported and respected". I will even go one step further and tell you to stand their naked, in all of your beautiful glory, flaws and all, and tell yourself, "I love even the hard to love flaws about myself." It is time to truly learn to love the valuable person you are. Stop giving others so much power to dictate your life, and tell you what image you should hold before they deem you acceptable to society. Stand up and take your power back!! Soon, your mind will begin to attract all of things you have written down. Don't sabotage it because it is out of your comfort zone. Embrace your new you and your new life, because you deserve so much more. You can do it. I believe in you. Now, get going, what are you sitting there for?
The truth is that nothing you do defines you as a person. You, that small part of the universal energetic flux, are enough, just the way you are. In fact, you are fundamental to the proper functioning of that massive cosmos as a whole. So don't sweat it when things don't work out the way you thought they would. Just keep moving forward, which will be further than most have ever tried.

Change Your State Of Anger To 'Calmness' With Subconscious Reimprinting

woman wearing white shirt standing near the flower

Our destiny is defined by our everyday behaviours. Our behaviours are consistent to the state we are in. If you are experiencing the state of anger on a consistent basis, you may be facing a lot of resentment and guilt too. Also, the state of anger may be harming your health too.

Here is the small and easy subconscious technique that I do with people to help the inner patterns of subconscious mind.

Think of the situation where you usually experience the state of anger. Is it your home, office, or any other place. Just get the awareness of it. Think of the situation, make a mental picture. Just place this image aside for sometime in your imagination. This image will be utilised a bit later.

Now, you need to create a new image of calmness and delightfulness. For that you need to undergo the following experiment.

Imagine, you are sitting on a chair. At a fair distance, you see the image of your image known as 'the other you'. Sitting on the chair, you need to see the 'other you' as you want. Now, imagine that you are seeing the 'other you' completely calm and delightful. Imagine, the 'other you' has learnt how to be calm and delightful in that situation. Make that picture as attractive as you want. Also, put some sounds in that image that can make that image more attractive and powerful. Once you are satisfied with that image of 'calm and delightful', create a thirty to forty-second film.

Now, imagine to get up from the chair and go to the 'other you' and enter in the first scene, and relive the whole movie; enjoying each picture and sound in the movie. Repeat this process ten to fifteen times till the patterns of the new images are imprinted on your subconscious mind.

NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) has already proved that the state is the result of the patterns that we have developed in our subconscious mind. Also, now you have got the choice to alter or replace these patterns with the help of creative and controlled imagination.

The key to getting the desired result is to make the images attractive. You need to make the pictures in the 'other you' colorful, big, three-dimensional and bright. Also, you need to amplify the quality of the sounds in the images of the 'other you'. It will help you create intensified feeling. The more intensified feelings you create, the more powerful changes you are able to bring about in your behaviour.

How To Use Scripts To Reinforce Visualization

Most humans are visual beings. We constantly visualize images in our brains. We have an inner voice that keeps talking to ourselves as well. But even when we love to chat with ourselves, we are likely translating those words into mental pictures.

So it is not too surprising to understand that visualization is a strong concept in the toolbox of the Law of Attraction. But, with all the thousands of images that we have in our brain daily, how do we focus on visualizations that will help us?

We can use scripts.

These scripts will allow us to hone in on the correct visualizations. When done right, they can set ourselves up to think properly as well as filtering out negative thoughts. When looked upon in this way, the more positive images you can imagine, the less room there is for negative ones. After all, we all can only focus on one single time at any given moment.

Visualization is a part of the Law of Attraction. It requires concentration to make sure you have the right images placed in your mind. That's why using a script can be a tremendous help in accomplishing this.

So where do you find the proper scripts to use for your visualizations?

One good resource can be found in Amazon online. It's a book called <33 Guided Visualization Scripts to Create the Life of Your Dreams> by Louise Stapely.

The three main sections - Wealth, Health and Love - are covered within the book, each with several subsections. The book also mentions techniques to relax the mind with decent coverage on how to meditate. While meditation is not essential to make visualizations work, it can get you there faster as it relaxes the mind.

Keeping stress to a minimum is crucial when trying to place the proper mental images in your mind.

You simply cannot think straight if you have too many things going on in your life. Therefore, make sure you learn the techniques on how to reduce stress. There are plenty of available resources online to help. Amazon is a good starting point. Doing simple meditation in addition to your visualization is a bonus.

Scripts are effective because they help paint the mental image for you.

It's almost as a director on the set of a movie. He or she is responsible for making sure the actors and the set give the right kind of mental image. The actors are responsible for delivering the right inflections, lines, facial expressions and emotions that are convincing. In the same way, a script can help you get the proper image to engage your mind so it's easier for you to activate this power of visualization

What Visualization Really Is

Visualization is one aspect of the Law of Attraction. In the simplest definition, visualization is the process when you create a visual image in your brain. It is used to help the universal mind to discover what you want.

But luckily it's not that as straightforward as something like "you think it and it will come true." Otherwise, every time we think of any random thoughts they will activate the Law of Attraction and we will materialize anything good or bad, noble or evil things we can imagine.

Another factor to consider is that we think in terms of positive and negative imagery. If it were as simple as getting whatever your thoughts show, you would get a lot of bad things as well as good. And it is true that people who focus primarily on the negative tend to have more negative aspects of their lives occur. The conclusion is it takes more than just random thoughts to make it work.

Visualization techniques help set your mind to create clear images of what you are looking for. As you continue to create those images, it is easier for them to be picked up by the Universe. While this sounds like a strange concept, it is not new. It has been around since the late 19th century although some believe even earlier than that.

If you are skeptical about this concept, think back to a time when someone who you haven't seen in a while pops into your head. You see their mental picture quite clearly. Then, a short time later, you receive a communication from them, either in the form of an email or a call. Often, they have some unexpected news to tell you.

The question you have to ask is, did you come up with the image of that person or did they do so and transmit their need to contact you? It's likely you have already had similar experience several times in your life. If you haven't, there are plenty of others who can attest to it and may even be able to tell you the people it happened with.

Something else that happens to people is when someone they know well dies.

They seem to know the moment it is happening. They visualize the person in their head and know something is not right and then when they find out the person died, they make the connection. It is an odd sensation, but it gives some thoughts again on the Law of Attraction, visualization, and the idea that everything is energy and we are all connected in some shapes or forms.

How to Give a Winning First Impression Now

How to give a winning first impression now and every time can be learned. Here are 5 "how to" tips to give a positive first impression.

When it comes to modern-day society and life, whether you are in a business meeting or a social encounter, your very first impression is incredibly important.

When people first meet you, they will judge and remember you by that mental picture they take.

Many people make first impression mistakes without even knowing it. In this post, we share five key how to tips to help you give a winning first impression now.

Tip #1: Give a Winning First Impression Start With a Smile
The very first thing you should do to make people comfortable around you is to smile.

A smile takes away tension. It tells other people that you are happy. Smiles help people feel comfortable. Smiles are contagious!

Smiling exudes self-confidence. So when you first meet someone, smile.

Tip #2: Dress for the Occasion
The second way to give a winning first impression is to dress for the occasion.

You do not have to go out and buy the latest, most expensive, designer clothes. The price of your clothing does not really matter.

When it comes to making a first impression at work, for example, you don't want to overdo your look. But you also don't want to look sloppy. The clothing you wear reflects your personality. How you dress will impact how people perceive you.

Tip #3: Use The Other Person's Name But Don't Overdo It
To give a winning first impression, be careful not to overuse someone's name.

This is not suggesting you not repeat someone's first name. Addressing someone by name after introductions is actually a good thing to do; especially if it is uncommon to you. What we are saying is do not over do it.

Tip #4: Be a Great Listener
The fourth thing you can do that will help you with how to give a winning first impression is to be a great listener.

Being an active listener is a skill. However, it is a wonderful skill when it comes to meeting people and getting them to like you.

Why?

Because most people like to talk about themselves. Their interest is in what they have to say.

As a great listener your task is getting the new person to elaborate on their interests. Their personal opinions will make them feel more comfortable around you.

Active listening tips include giving short comments like, "Oh interesting" or "I agree".

Bonding during the first few minutes of interaction will make people like you more.

Tip #5: Let Other People be the Center of Attraction
The fifth suggestion on how to give a winning first impression is let other people be the center of attention.

In making a good first impression at work, let the other person understand and feel as if they are more important. Do not dominate the conversation. Do a lot of listening. Do not talk about yourself unless asked. This may seem like a different technique but it works wonders in the world of business as well as meeting people in your after-work life.

Throughout your day-to-day activities knowing how to give a winning first impression is integral when it comes to having relationships, making new friends, job interviews, and getting along with other people.
