Message From the Universe: Follow Your Heart

It's got nothing to do with being a perfect, goody-goody, selfless, sacrificing, spiritual saint. Blah! That whole characterization was meant for a different audience at a different time, and they really had issues.

It's got everything to do with being yourself, trusting the magic, following your heart, dreaming big, and having fun.

Hosanna in the highest,

The Universe"

Everything starts with a thought but follows with a feeling and belief, before jumping into action. We all have our moments of sadness, frustration, depression, anger and the list goes on and on but will you let it define you? Will you allow external factors take control of who you are and what your potential suppose to be? All is left to what you choose to do in moment of weakness. Nothing else can define your character when you keep calm and collected during challenging times, and this is when you can step back and realize what kind of person you are when you face adversity but still manage to keep on moving forward.

Life can be easy dandy when no road blocks are set in your path throughout your journey in life. Anyone can manage it with their eyes closed. However, when the going get rough, this is why you can determine the true character of a person, during their moment of panic while still managing to keep their cool. As long as you life is not in immediate danger, anything else you face at any given time can be resolved. You just need to focus on what to do to alleviate the intensity of the ordeal you are facing at that given moment. As long as you can work towards figuring out a solution, you will be on your way to ultimate happiness and unimaginable success.

Law of Attraction & Turning Thoughts Into Things

Have you ever wondered about the Law Of Attraction and if it really works?

Would you like to know how to apply it and try it out for yourself?

Let me share with you why you might want to take notice of the Law of Attraction and change your thoughts so that you can make positive changes in your life, starting today.

First off, I'd like you to think about all the things that have been created in the world in general e.g houses, businesses, the billions of products we have, things in your home, appliances, food etc. Now, I'd like you to think back to a time before these things were here in our experience. Good. And now I'd like you to think about where the ideas for these things to be created/produced started? Stop for a moment and ponder... Everything that is known to you as a physical tangible thing in our world, was first born inside someone's head. Everything that has come into existence ie known to our senses, started as an idea or inspired thought/desire to create. Can you agree with this? Good.

Now, think about the things that you have in your home today. Take a good look around the room you are in right now, if you are at home reading this, and if not, do it later. Before you got the things you have, you had a desire for these things or you thought about these things, right? So, do you see that they were all your ideas and thoughts before you had them manifest in your experience? The home you are living in. At some point in the past, you had an 'idea' or 'desire' to move home. Or, you had a desire for a type of car. You took some action and then you got the car. There, I've just proven to you that your thoughts create your reality!

Everything is FIRST an idea or thought before it comes into creation. Now, you don't even have to believe in a higher power to get to grasps with the nature of how creation works. It IS IN YOUR EXPERIENCE, as fact. Whether you admit it or not, whether it can be proven or not, which it can now, anyway. Look into quantum physics and you will find that scientists are discovering that consciousness creates matter/ideas etc. Consciousness is the source of it all, meaning that your mind and thinking are the fuel for creating matter ie the physical appearance and experiences that show up in your life.

This is the basic of the Law of Attraction teachings. They teach you to understand that you are the creator and that you have the power to shape your life with your thoughts and emotions. So, what are you thinking/feeling today? What signal are you emitting to the universe? You will get back what you give out.

It is an energetic/vibrational universe. Things begin in the non physical realms first, then they are transferred into the physical. Much like one of those coffee dispensing machines. Everything is silent, only the idea of coffee exists. You press the button to select the coffee and then a cup is dispensed and filled with water, milk and coffee. Et voila, coffee! First there is the space for desire to be born, then comes the means for the tangible expression of the realised desire.

Thought is a intangible form of energy. It has the ability to shape matter, literally around you and before your very eyes. It happens quicker if you believe that all this is possible or make it conscious, as you will otherwise continue to create unconsciously with your inner most held beliefs and assumptions. Why not awaken to the fact that you have this ability to create your hearts desires instead?

To put this creation process into practice, you can start thinking in ways that will support the manifestation of a life that is in alignment with your highest desires and wellbeing for the good of all. Seems too good to be true? Yes, it can seem that way at first, until you start delving into it and begin to experience it for yourself.

You see, the world of things around you exists in vibrational essence first, ie as an idea/desire. And you have the ability to create through the conscious application of intentional thought/desire. Think about how creative our civilisation is? From the first beginnings of creating tools to make fire, to the more advanced technologies of today. We created it! Isn't it amazing that we have the power to basically create anything we can imagine? Anything that improves our experience in this physical world or provides comfort and convenience e.g cars

So now you know that it's actually possible to literally shape matter or create your world with your thoughts, desires and imagination, you can use it wisely for the highest good of all.

There is only one rule, and that is, only create with good intentions that does not infringe on another's freewill. Remember you will always reap what you sow! That is another way LoA works. We are all one in this world together. Always be aware of what you are thinking and never think ill of another. We all came from one source but each of us is here to create something wonderful for our lives and ideally for the benefit of all. And remember to share!

Initially, we are service to self oriented and so we want to accumulate, but through maturity, we can create in ways that benefit all, whilst at the same time sharing our passions/vision for the highest good of all. We can be the change we wish to see in the world, be of service to our fellow beings.

So, if you want to change your life, start by changing your thoughts. Notice where you assume lack in your life? Where do you judge yourself or others? What parts of yourself require forgiveness and love? Know that you are worthy to receive your good and true hearts desire.

Yes, there will be challenges, but you can make small changes in the way you perceive/think about what shows up, and this will greatly change what you attract into your experience, and more importantly, how you react to what is happening in your life now. Be kind to yourself, love yourself unconditionally, just as the Universe does by having created you! Know that you are deserving and worthy of a wonderful life with the highest of what you can imagine for yourself. Having this mindset will also inspire and help all of us to remember that we also are worthy, and start to create positive change in the world for everyone. Become the best version of you, believing abundance is possible for all.

We humans all basically want the same things;- love, warmth, companionship, a comfortable home, people we love and care about, purpose in our work/contribution, wellbeing, financial abundance. We are all deserving of achieving our goals/dreams and contributing something of value and benefit for all. We are one. But, we are presently still in a society where we use money as an exchange for the goods and services we need to live/thrive. This is how it is for now but our economy and how we sustain ourselves in the future will change as new systems replace the old.

Money is just a symbol we use to exchange energy ie to swap it for something someone has created or someone offering a service. It is an exchange for goods/services. It is a cyclic system to represent a flow of energy given or received. That's all money is. Learn to appreciate what money represents and be grateful for its flow in and out of your experience.

If you wish to start putting LoA to work for you, start by changing or at least catching yourself when you think or believe in lack. Start replacing lack thoughts with thoughts of abundance and all being well. It doesn't happen overnight, and you will basically have to work at it a bit before you see results. Start with worthiness and know that you deserve to be the person you wish to be and to enjoy experiences that resonate with you and help you expand. You are unique and everyone has different desires and requirements depending on their purpose in being here. Tune in and ask yourself what you wish to create and experience that is for your highest good?

Since everything is energy, I recommend you 'feed' your mind (or replace the lack programming) with thoughts of abundance on a daily basis. Nourish your mind with inspiring material that affirms ideas of abundance and confidence. Get to know yourself and undo the social conditioning of lack assumptions that may have come from your parents, teachers etc.

It is always helpful and supportive to find inspiration that is in tune with your goals and visions. Make a detailed list of what you wish to create for yourself in your life. Is there a calling you wish to unveil or become more aligned with? What is it? Who are you? And what did you come here to do and create? You might want to get a notebook and write daily activities/ideas and quotes that are inspiring and will support this new attitude of abundance and purposeful living.

Gratitude for what you have now will attract more to be grateful for!

What are you grateful for? Gratitude generates amazing 'feel good' energy that increases your vibration/energy, and will make you glow when you take it on board to practise everyday.

Start to notice the things or people around you that you are grateful for or appreciate e.g pets, spouse, the tree in your garden, your car, the food on your table tonight. The more you notice abundance in your life, the more it will increase. Feel it! Visualise it!

You get more of what you focus on! Use your energy of attention wisely. Attention gives more energy to what it is paying attention to! And remember to love yourself throughout! Be grateful for your body, your smile, your teeth etc. Increasing the 'noticing' of abundance in all areas of your life, multiplies the supply! Keep smiling, keep thanking, enjoy your life and what is given to you. Don't get complacent, keep gratitude alive! It's a feeling of abundance and the more you feel it everyday, the more it shall bring to you. In love and light!

The Winning Thought!

Being self-actualized is more powerful than being enlightened. When you have reached the end, it does not end. So, you must get a new goal always, and you must continually take action achieving each new goal with a living psyche (life filled spirit) that does not take anything for granted forever. With that said, I begin this article. "The end" is really "The beginning" always when really thought about, because when you retire, you either get another goal or you die. When you reach the end, you stop forever and die or do more that is something different, it never ends. Indeed, the winning thought is not to retire or get enlightened and reach "the end", everything is really an open-ended process of eternity and infinity existence when really thought about.

You see, so many people act like life is an end to be reached then they retire after doing so much service and achieving a "big goal". Happiness and fulfillment does not work that way, and that is how real losers think in reality because of the realistic "what next" factor life automatically has because of its genuine nature.

Winning is a consistent forever process, and I mean real winning that happens all the time. I do not mean reaching a temporary goal or objective, I mean going with existence forever where it may genuinely lead. Consciousness does not die, and nor does spiritual energy, it just changes or the caterpillars forever turn into butterflies in nature and reality everywhere.

With all that getting, get reality! There is not any real retirement or end to be reached, it is a consistent process. Winners realize this, losers think: "Damn, I won the pot, that is it!" or "I lost and I genuinely quit!"

What do you think enlightenment is? It is a concept of the end without considering what happens after it. Enlightenment is an unrealistic concept as most people think it is. Realistic enlightening is consistent working on yourself without end or breaking the link in your mind, body and spirit. Indeed, I did not say "perfection", that is an unrealistic concept and perception to. I am basing this on what actually exists, eternal work and process at it. Eternal momentum and results that work genuinely always. Not perfectly, but always working in the right ways that are genuine and needed. That is the process in reality, quite simply, take or leave the gift here.

Keeping A Respectable Distance: The Antidote For Whatever Ails You

Personal detachment is the closest thing we have to a universal remedy for erroneous and unhealthy thought and feeling. The common misunderstanding about this concept is that it's some kind of gimmick or artificial device, when in fact it's the primary way of living in positive reality.

Here's the basic situation: A person's having negative thoughts or feelings which she or he doesn't like -- unless of course he does like them. His wallowing in despair or self-pity may be a conscious, acceptable way of life for him. It may make him feel good in some perverse, masochistic way. He may be addicted to it. Stuck in it.

Let's assume this is not you and return to the basic premise that you don't like your negative thoughts and feelings and want to control or get rid of them. What do you do? The glib answer is to simply stop thinking such thoughts and feeling such feelings. Easy to say, but how do you do it?

The best way is to have the presence of mind to catch negativity at the very moment of its inception. That's the point at which you can simply dismiss the thought at will.

However, if you indulge or entertain the thought for more than a few seconds, it becomes more and more embedded into your subconscious mind and much more difficult to dismiss. You've made it a part of you, a part of your makeup.

Okay, so you're not that adept yet at the level of presence of mind where you can stop thoughts on arrival. So, we'll go to Plan B. In this more common scenario, you're too often experiencing negative thoughts, feelings and below par performance. What do you do?

The way you treat anything unwanted or unproductive now is to simply distance yourself from it. Detach from it. Witness it and back off from it at as close to the same time as you can. Again, before it can fester or germinate.

There's a mythical rule of food hygiene in the hospitality industry -- that if a cook or waitperson drops food on the floor and picks it up within five seconds, it can still be served to the customer because it has not been contaminated by bacteria in that length of time.

The same with thought or feeling. Drop it before it contaminates you. -- And do not allow guilt or accept blame for such random thought. They are part of the human DNA. They will come no matter what. All you have to do is not act on or be tempted by them. This is the definition of self-control.

The term "respectable" in this context means you're respecting the distinction between thought and the controlling witness of thought. Respecting that thought and feeling are not who you really are, but are below who you really are. Your whole job is simply to maintain that correct relationship.

Live Your Ultimate Life! 5 Behaviours to Guarantee Your Best Outcomes Daily!

You have the potential to live an absolutely phenomenal life.

A life where you get to determine the standards of your lifestyle, the quality of your results and the abundance that you receive

A Mistaken Sense of Reality...

You are not be experiencing these phenomenal impacts because right now you may be in a situation where you are so emphatically conditioned that you are resigned to the mistaken belief that everything happens TO you, that's life... and you have to accept it.

This is an unfortunate mindset too many people have! A mindset that causes them to surrender control of their best assets and expose themselves to a false sense of fate.

I urge you to not fall into this same debilitating way of life!

Understand that this definitely does not have to be the case for you. In fact, it shouldn't! you have been endowed with phenomenal gifts at your creation, which allow you to take a significant amount of control over your direction in life and your circumstances. This issue arises when, as an individual you do not develop these gifts, or give them an opportunity to be expressed with any meaningful intent.

Set Your Expectations!

You are a fine-tuned instrument; your creation is perfection in motion... what you need to understand is how it all comes together. We won't have time to get into all of it in this article, but I want to specifically focus on your mindset, your expectations and how these attract corresponding results.

I encourage you to begin focusing on your unseen, spiritual attributes, as this is where you have the greatest control. This is the part of your creation where your results begin. Everything you have or you experience in the physical is the 'second version' of an idea, thought or expectation.

When you come up with an idea and get emotionally involved with that idea you begin to move into the corresponding frequency of that thought or idea and this vibration gets into harmony with everything on the same frequency.

You are effectively a 'radio dial' that tunes into the station that you want to listen to.

The key aspect is that, for the most part, your 'radio dial' is set to an automatic frequency and everything on that frequency moves into your life as a physical and non-physical results... even if you do not like them.

Your vibration... your vibe determines your environment.

This is why you need to begin to place a premium on your thoughts and expectations.

Don't leave Change to Chance!

As you reflect on the above, I want you to take heart in knowing that change is possible... and you have control over how to turn your life around!

You now have the beginning of a changed awareness and a new understanding. In order to make a meaningful and lasting change you need to begin doing things in a way contrary to how you have been undertaking action to this point.

Currently you are looking at your life, your job, your current results and letting these visible aspects determine what you think you can do.

  • Financially you look at your income, mortgage, credit card limit and immediately impose a restriction on your financial potential or capability.
  • You perceive the number of hours in a day, your commitments, your relationships then confirm to yourself your limited ability to use time
  • There are also many other perceptions based on your current results or way of life that limit how you allow yourself to set goals or manage your expectations.

In order to change you need to focus on pulling yourself up and elevating yourself onto a higher, more valuable level of existence... this can only be done by determining what frequency you want to 'dial into' then working towards that! You need to begin thinking in a very specific and certain way that focuses only on the good and abundant and that your goals and desires you have set for yourself are certain to happen, they are guaranteed and that there is nothing that is going to stop them from coming into being. The complimentary mindset you need to entrench yourself in is that you shut your mind off entirely to any influence or contrary opinion that will tell you cannot get what you have set your mind on. Safeguard against these influences.

Please note that these actions are not just to readjust your thoughts and beliefs into "just accepting" your results with a blind approach to just being satisfied. What we are striving to achieve is meaningful change that meaningfully engages your creative faculties and sets up new expectations that you know will accelerate your growth!

5 Behaviours you can engage today to Guarantee you best outcome daily:

  1. Gratitude: be thankful for everything... regardless of appearances. Developing a deeper sense of gratitude allow you to experience the perception that everything is contributing to your well being and all situations are there to create an environment for your success.
  2. Decision: Deciding what you want and sticking to that decision set an internal tone from your mind to your Paradigm that begins to move in the direction of that decision.
  3. Imagination: This wonderful creative faculty is your designer that adds layers of detail and colours your future world.
  4. Believe: knowing that what is to happen will happen for your ultimate growth.
  5. Expect: the ribbon that holds it all together... expecting what we want is far superior to expecting what we do not want! Either one will happen... you choose which!

All the above behaviours working in harmony and in an upward spiral of synergy takes you onto ever increasing levels of vibration... vibrations that are on the same frequency of the life you desire.

Get your "vibe adjusted" and enjoy the abundance that follows.

Pray With Yourself: Troubles Go Away!

When you persistently put things into your mind and you are consistently programming yourself with habits: Congratulations, you are praying, putting spells on yourself or whatever. That is not a fantasy I am making up, that is reality. Sure, in this game and real situation of life, it genuinely what we are, say, do and all. Energy is controlled, not created.

When I think about vibration, realities, fantasies, and everything. They all stem from one force really: Thought. They all stem from that, whether it comes anywhere from low to high, and the vibrational measure of the thoughts create our reality and nothing else.

I am also saying that ultimately, if we are winners, it is our virtue. If we are losers, it is our own fault. We get away with nothing and benefit to pay to the genuine measure of it all.

When I think about genuine psychic power and all of that, that is what I think of, thoughts, vibrations and creations that come from all, not anything acting outside of ourselves. My point is to get to the source of your troubles and genuinely work on them going away. Do not look to anyone or anything else to pay for you, act for you or really think for you.

You may or may not agree with me on those points I just mentioned, but you understand this if you have gotten this far into the article: Reality works the same from top to bottom and for winners and losers alike, everything is actions and consequences for everyone and everything, including God, Goddess, Power, Source, Universe, Existence, everything and whatever.

So, I would like to end this article a little differently: Reality does not depend on luck, it depends on how we genuinely use the laws of reality in definite ways. If we go against them, we lose. If we go with them in right directions, we win.

Different realities work by different rules of course, but one thing unites them all: If we play by those rules in the right way, we are successful at those realities. If we are wrong, we are wrong, that is it, unless we change directions and become right.

I learned nothing valuable at Rainbow Bridge Center School from 1984 to 1987 except that lesson about genuinely winning. I learned nothing academic from that school really except that life lesson. Sure, I pretended not to know fractions or understand advanced math and language just so that I would fit in with the other kids and not seem "too smart for my own good" or too knowledgeable about life. If you want to win, you must work with the laws of reality and not against them, is the ultimate reality. Breaking the law and doing genuinely wrong is always cheating, destruction and negative creation is always cheating. Production and positive creation is always legitimate winning. Indeed, destruction, negative creation and cheating are always bad. I did not see the one lesson I learned as a penalty, I saw this lesson as the ultimate understanding of how life and existence work.

To shorten this to understandable terms: You must line up your wish bone with your backbone to get them to really work together as prayer must be backed up with motivated action also to get results in reality.

Letting Go of Shame

There is no such thing as shame. It is just an artificially inculcated thought, forcing us to wrongly believe that not disappointing others is more important than not disappointing ourselves. It is time to let this unuseful belief go.

According to the hierarchy of people around you, you should be at the top. Your own happiness is the most important one.

You can't make others happy unless you are happy with yourself.

That´s a simple fact.

Because your own happiness is the source of the happiness of others around you. Therefore, your own happiness is simply the most important thing in your life, which you need to take care of.

And shame is not part of happiness at all. It simply doesn't belong to it. It never did and never will.

Shame is just a toxic and totally useless feeling that has been implanted in you, "saying" that you have done something that you were "not supposed to", or that you haven't pleased somebody you were "supposed to", in the way she/he expected from you. Shame is a feeling that has been imposed on you, then not consciously chosen by you. Why on earth would you freely choose a feeling, which is one of the obstacles to your happiness?

And who would know, better than you, what you are supposed or not supposed to anyway?

Who would know the path towards your own happiness, better than you?

Shame has always been a great way for others (including institution, government, and many religions) to manipulate you. For example, it is in the highest interest of institutions like government to foster and increase the feeling of shame in you, so you can be easily manipulated and controlled.

It is time to let go of shame, and mainly of the thought of shame itself.

It is time to be free again.

Shame never helps you; shame only prevents you from becoming better, stronger and happier.

Shame is not meant to be part of your life and happiness. It never was and never will be.

The good news is that shame is just a feeling. And, because any kind of negative feeling (shame is one of the most negative feelings) can be let go, the same applies for shame.

I can't express strongly enough what a dramatic impact letting go of shame has on life. I can refer to my own experience. Once the feeling of shame vanishes, you immediately feel lighter, more relaxed and happier. It is very difficult to be controlled by others, because simply there is not any "leverage" that could allow them to control you anymore. It is difficult not to be happy when there is no feeling of shame and guilt anymore. And remember, it is just a feeling - we already know that any negative feeling can be let go, once and forever.

In general, shame has got many faces and we usually have so many different kinds of thoughts and memories connected to shame that might also be suppressed deeply in our bodies (it is one of the most suppressed feelings in general), which quite often requires many letting go sessions. But, it's worth every penny and the long term impact is life changing once we learn how to let go of the feelings of shame.

One of the best ways to start letting go of shame is letting go of the feeling of having shame because of feeling shame (it might sound a bit confusing at first glance, but when you really think of it, you will realize that this is the most common kind of shame - feeling guilt and shame because we feel ashamed).

All of that can, and should be, let go.

Here is the letting go process for shame:

1. Find a quiet place, where nobody can disturb you. Shame is a very intimately perceived feeling and it is important to be just with yourself when letting go of shame for the first time.

2. Close your eyes and bring up any recent feeling of shame, or feeling of being ashamed.

3. Start embracing and experiencing these feelings fully.

4. Sometimes, this can be really hard and unpleasant, but it is only for a while. It is important to continue. Also, there can be some stronger immediate emotional expressions as shame is being released. Dont block anything; it will last only a small moment.

5. Start surrendering yourself to these feelings; let them express themselves fully all over your body (or any other part where you feel them most intensively). Don't push them back; don't block them or act on them either. Just let them be in their natural way and instead, be an independent observer of them, as if they weren't even yours. Be an observer and let any emotions come out, as they want to.

6. Try not to connect these feelings to any stories or circumstances; try not to rationalize them. Try not to think about them at all. Just look at them as pure emotion, which want to be expressed and released. Don't judge them; don't push them back; just observe.

7. After a while, make a decision about letting the feeling of shame go once and forever, and then let it actually go and disappear.

8. Because the amount of negative feelings related to shame can be quite often pretty intense and deep, you will probably need to repeat steps 1-5 several times. Also, make this a daily practice if any kind of other feelings of shame come up anytime soon. Shame sometimes requires some time (weeks and months) to be completely let go.

Lessons From the Untethered Soul (By Shelley Roy)

Having read several of my books, blogs, and articles, by now you are probably aware that like Michael Singer, I believe we are trying to do something that doesn't work - we are trying to find love, joy, happiness, etc. outside of ourselves. We are trying to control something that is not within our control: other people and the world around us. Everything we wish to experience is part of our inner landscape; they are not out there somewhere to be found.

Singer in his book, the untethered soul, helps you explore your inner landscape, an activity that for me has been a life long journey. He begins by asking you to look at the concept of self and the inner dialogue you engage in with self. Once you begin to think about and explore the concept of self, you quickly realize "... the concept of 'self' may turn out to be a bit more elusive than initially presumed."

As a human you have been both blessed and cursed by your ability to think about your thinking. The blessing is that it is in the world of your thoughts that you can control your experiences in life. The curse is you are probably looking to the world to have specific experiences and your inner dialogue is acting as the judge of what's happening around you. Breaking the barrier of this inner and outer world thinking will free you from your perceived problems.

So how do you begin to do this - you become intimately aware of your inner roommate - the voice inside of you. You recognize that your inner voice will never be content and at peace, and you let go of "I". You recognize that-"Your consciousness is actually experiencing your mental model of reality, not reality itself." When you perceive a problem you stop asking, "What should I do about this?" and start asking, "What part of me is being disturbed by this?" What part of me is ________ (jealous, angry, frustrated, irritated, etc.)? Singer states, "You will not be able to solve anything outside until you own how the situation affects you inside." For a man not familiar with Perceptual Control Theory (PCT), he has captured one of its greatest lessons. Disturbance is an inside job.

Letting go of the inner judge and shifting your thinking to what I like to call the balcony view immediately relieves stress. My good friend Andrea Christopher once described it this way - it's as if I am the math problem, then I am working the math problem and finally I am watching myself work the math problem. "You don't have to think about it or analyze it; you can just be aware of it." Doing this allows you to let go of the "I".

From the balcony you allow yourself to "experience every note the heart can play." You recognize that everything is just information and it's up to you to quiet the roommate and relax into the moment. Singer provided me with a more spiritual perspective on PCT which is a very science heavy explanation of human behavior.
This book was like diving into the deep end of the pool of my own soul. PCT with a spiritual twist. I loved it!

Understanding Grounded Cognition

Graphics of question everything symbol

Grounded cognition a fairly new theory in cognitive psychology that has been the subject of much research and discussion just these past 10-15 years. Grounded cognition is the understanding that that cognition is not merely a computational process in the brain in a central module separate from the parts the parts of the brain used for perception, action and emotion, but is, in fact, grounded in those systems and grows out of them. We understand and think not with discrete mental abstracts, but with imagery and modal schemas formed from experiences we have had through our bodies and senses. Underlying our advanced thought and calculations is this grounding of experiences, perceptions, senses, environment and past actions. It removes the separation between thinking and doing; perception-action and brain-body-environment links are the underpinnings of thought. Our brain is not the only means by which we process and understand.

We can see the effects of these experiential and sensory-motor underpinnings in how we use language and metaphor. Recent studies have found out things like we respond faster to embodied insults (ugly, blockhead) than to less bodily specific ones (nitwit, stingy), and that when we hear motion language, we imagine seeing motion and mentally prepare for it. The way we use language shows this, as we use concrete metaphors to describe abstract concepts - sad is "feeling down", excitement is a "high", a baby is so cute we "could just eat him up!"

Grounded cognition explains how cognition/thinking continues whether the body is doing anything at that time or not by using mental imagery, modal systems and neurological connections formed from sensory-motor experiences. It describes the way that cognition expresses itself from these experiences several ways, including simulation, situated action, and sometimes bodily states.

Criticism often come from the mistaken belief that grounded cognition mean we must constantly be doing something bodily in order to think. While a bodily state in an environment can be a means of processing, current physical engagement is not necessary. Simulation is reenactment of states captured while doing - we have tied many pairs of shoes, and we use those past experiences to relate to new shoes. This relates to how people can understand things from books, for instance; we relate the information in them to past perceptions, experiences, sensations and actions. Situated action is the belief that cognition developed to support action in specific situations from the interaction between multiple subsystems. All the different means of experience and perception that have been experienced in the past can combine to help one figure out what to do in a new situation.

While much prescientific writing about thought included the idea that knowledge comes from mental images grown from experiences (similar to the simulation view), in the early 20th century these beliefs were attacked by behaviorists for not being scientific enough. When cognitive psychology rose in the mid 20th century to address weaknesses in pure behaviorism, those theorists avoided or derided the idea that imagery was important in cognition. However, there has been enough evidence in recent research across disciplines from cognition and neuroscience to linguistics, that it now must be taken seriously.

Although some sources describe grounded and embodied cognition as synonyms, very recent papers on the two are working to clarify how they are distinctive from each other. According to Dr. Andrew Wilson, grounded cognition is still about mental representations, just ones that are shaped by the body. The key move is the grounding, shaping internal content with external, modality specific factors. Embodied cognition replaces representations with our activity in a richly perceived world. The key move is the embodiment, emphasizing the role of the body and it's place in the environment in creating cognition.

So far, much of the research on grounded cognition has been concrete in nature. Researchers are being challenged to explain how mental imagery grounded in experiences can explain abstract ideas. There is ongoing debate of how grounded cognition can account for ideas that do not have a sensory-motor context. There is much ongoing research and discussion between theorists in this new, active and increasingly influential branch of cognitive theory.

Metaphors Gone Wild: Cliffs and Patterns

Brown Hawk Flying Above Green Trees Artwork

Author Kurt Vonnegut once gave this advice to those with a creative bent: "We have to continually be jumping off cliffs and developing our wings on the way down." Yes, there is risk-taking involved in exploring new territory, but how else can we develop our metaphoric wings?

Here are tips for making that exhilarating leap.

INVOLVE ALL YOUR SENSES

Not only should you enhance your receptivity to sensory input--sights, sounds, smells, taste, and feel--you can try various combinations. The late Gregory Hines, for example, once revealed that he developed tap routines by listening to the ordinary sounds coming his way as he walked down New York City streets. Nature itself is an inspiration--just ask any plein air painter. And, if you watch "Chef's Table" on Netflix, you know the culinary masters want to figure out how to make a dessert float, or how to capture the smell of spices in a pillow placed at the guest's table.

Trying expressing ideas in words not usually associated with a given sense. (You'll find metaphors coming in handy here.) For example, if you could taste anger, would it taste like salt on your tongue or vanilla ice cream. If you could feel it, would it feel like sandpaper or velvet?

EXPAND YOUR THINKING

One of the best ways to stimulate new thought is to ask "What if... " questions. For example, "What if women ruled the world?" Then, consider what the consequences of such a reality would involve. One result might be toilet seats that are more often down than up. When faced with a personal problem or a work-related one, give thought to new possibilities with questions related to the situation.

TOLERATE CONFUSION

Research has repeatedly shown that creative individuals have a higher tolerance for confusion than most of us do. When you are tempted to stop cerebral storms because you feel overwhelmed, allow the thoughts to continue bombarding each other inside your head. Being too orderly or too organized may stop us in our tracks when we should, in fact, be moving forward toward a given destination.

HAVE SELF-IMPOSED LIMITS

Just for fun, once in a while, set some limits. The heightened awareness can easily produce some surprising results. So, see how many sentences you can produce that have only five words. The first word must start with an A; the second with a B; the third with a C; the fourth, with a D; and the last word, with an E. An example might be "Any boy can develop enlightenment." The sentences don't have to be profound, but they must have no repeated words--within a given sentence and within the whole collection of sentences. If you can create 20+ sentences in a five-minute period, you have genius potential.

In a famous hiring situation, applicants were asked to work in groups to come up with 30 ways to improve a bathtub in five minutes. The second aspect of the challenge was to have one person removed from the team and to come up with 30 ways (with repeating any) to improve a bathtub in only four and a half minutes. The second list often had better ideas than the first.

PATTERN YOUR THOUGHTS ON YOURSELF

There is no one quite like you in all the world. Extend this uniqueness to the development of new concepts. Avoid the old patterns, for--as creativity guru Edward de Bono tells us: "Without creativity, there would be no progress, and we would be forever repeating the same patterns."

Message From the Universe: When There Is a Thought, There Is a Way!

Shallow Focus Photo of Woman Wearing Purple Top

"Actually, you don't have to tell me what you want, I already know.

You don't even have to tell me why you want it. That you do, is enough.

And please don't ask how I'm going to do it. There's always a way.

But I certainly wouldn't mind the occasional, "Yeeeeee-haaaaaaa, hallelujah, amen brothers and sisters!" You know, kind of a "thank you," in advance.

Thank you,
The Universe"

The Universe can read your thoughts and make things happen, as long as you prove your deliberate intent that you will do whatever it takes to put these thoughts into action. Just a thought is a not enough. You need to be truthful to what you want and show your willingness to do whatever it takes to where you want to go. It can be difficult at times when you think that your dreams are so big that it will be IMPOSSIBLE for them to actually come to fruition. Imaginable success is only reserve to the big players, such as Trump, Branson, Gates, Zuckerburg and the many others who accomplished greatness. What do you think they have that you do not? Smarter? Fail proof business practices? Here is the truth. They all failed many times over prior to be where they are today. They had what we call BELIEF in themselves that made them push harder and further. Their ideas is as good as yours, but what will you do to make your idea grow and flourish to reach ultimate success? The answer is up to you.

The Universe understand clearly what you want in life but just thinking is never enough. Go that extra mile as to what you really want out of life and avoid bringing in conflicting thoughts in your brain because of possibly creating chaos for the Universe to make things happen to your advantage. No matter what happens, the key is to think clearly and strongly for what you want and throw in a few Thank you's along the way. Obviously, you won't go from 0$ to 100 000 000 dollars in a day or so, but when wealth strikes, even in small amount, be grateful and thank the Universe that it happened when it did. Appreciate the things you are experiencing today and be fortunate for all your blessings. The journey to life will be one hell of a roller coaster ride, so if you are somewhat nauseous, pack up some ginger candy and enjoy the ride. Some turns and twist might make your tummy ache but it shall pass. At the end, the ride will get to its destination and in some cases, you might see yourself jumping into the next one to enjoy that ride again. Life is like a book, once a chapter is finished, you start a new one. Nothing really has an end, it just a series of new beginnings and it will be up to you to brush off the bad experiences and start fresh. Consciousness remains even after physical death of your body. You are just living chapters after chapters until your mission on Earth is accomplished.

Why Your Soul Knows What The Mind Cannot Understand

woman wearing teal sweater and eyeglasses

Your Soul Knows The Best Path For You

Have you ever experienced a sense of oneness? A feeling of connectedness with life and the universe? What did it feel like on an emotional level? These types of occurrences are difficult to explain through logic and reason because the soul experiences what the mind cannot explain. For example, how do you describe the attraction towards another person via logic? You might describe how the other person makes you feel, but it is difficult to define the exact quality of the attraction. This is because emotions are the language of the soul and can only be experienced through the heart. Soulful living is an invitation to merge with our heart and mind through these faculties. Is this something you're willing to explore in your life?

I'll admit, it can be difficult to navigate our way through life at the soul level because the communication is hard to distinguish. In contrast, the language of thought is direct because we are familiar with it. This doesn't mean thoughts are the only way to make sense of the world. In fact, many of our problems stem from an overactive mind that leads to stress since we buy into the narrative our thoughts promote. Have you noticed this with the mindless chatter that takes place in your head which can cause chaos and confusion? The language of the heart speaks in silence and relays messages through subtle signs and symbols.

Your soul knows the best path for you in life, yet it may not appear that way sometimes because of the challenges you face. Regardless, these are vital lessons to expand your soul's evolution. I've experienced many of these lessons throughout my life and now realise my soul was communicating to me through these experiences. Whilst they were difficult, a new path emerged following the event that lead me in a new direction. Have you experienced something like this before? Whether it be the breakup of a relationship, losing a job or the unexpected loss of a loved one? Whilst these events can be distressing, they leave a ripple effect in our consciousness and we can never go back to the same way of living.

Acceptance Does Not Mean Resignation

I've written about my life-and-death encounter in earlier articles where I describe a gradual awakening that foreshadowed a new way of living. I began to read books on consciousness, personal growth and leadership and realised my experience was a gateway to expanded living. Regrettably, I lost many friends during this time whom I no longer identified with. It seemed we were speaking different languages that neither of us could understand and our life's journey was taking us in different directions. Naturally, I wanted to hold on to these relationships because I had known these people since childhood. As painful as it was, I allowed life to take the lead, and surrendered to the process. I stopped resisting the changes because they were happening, regardless of my struggle. My resistance only fuelled more suffering, and it was easier to go with the flow hoping it would lead to somewhere special. I'm glad I did because that special place is the one I am living now and the person writing these words on your screen.

Sometimes, what seems like the wrong turn, is the only turn we need to take for life to guide us where we need to be. The soul has a plan for us and knows the people that will enter our life at the right time. It knows what lessons we need for our soul's evolution. It makes it easier when we let go of resistance and learn to accept what is unfolding. Remember, acceptance does not mean resignation, nor does it mean we like what is happening. It means letting go of the mental drama of why things shouldn't be happening as they are. All our problems will melt away when we accept what life is trying to bring us. Sometimes the pieces may be still coming together and the situation may look fragmented. This is an opportunity to practice infinite patience and wait for the storm to pass, before taking the next step.

With this in mind, I'd like you to think about a difficult situation in your life right now. Ask yourself: What does my soul want me to learn from this experience? How does my soul want me to learn and grow from it? Journal your answers in a diary. I assure you there will be responses that come forth which may not make sense at first. Keep exploring them and follow the trail. Sometimes, it will be easy and at other times you will be frustrated because you cannot make sense of what is unfolding. This is natural because you might try to dance quicker than the song being played. The uni-verse (one song) has an inherent rhythm we must abide by and when we learn to synchronise with it, life flows easily and effortlessly. Your soul not only knows what the mind cannot understand, it knows the best way to get there.

Forget About Miracles

Girl Doing Levitation Trick

Have you ever found yourself praying for a miracle? It's usually when your back is against the wall. A loved one is sick. You're in extreme physical pain or have been diagnosed with a medical condition that sounds horrible. A mate has left you or done something that you react to with pain. Maybe you or your mate have lost a job or lost your future to the stock market.

Whatever the case may be, you can stop praying for a miracle. It's not something that's bestowed on you.

Beautiful healings and turnarounds can and will happen when you flip the switch on your focus. Shifting your perception to what's possible can be a very quick process or it can be gradual.

The time it takes will not matter so much to you, once you let go of needing your outcome to happen quickly. When you feel even the slightest bit of emotional or physical relief, the world will begin to feel like a magical place again.

When you appreciate the fact that there has been a small shift in the way you feel, the tangible results will follow. The key is not to get frustrated if you don't see immediate results. This will slow the entire process down.

Now... back to the beginning. How do you shift your focus when you're asking for that miracle? Any thing or thought you can grab onto that will create even a smidge of relief can begin the process. A conversation with someone who is very comforting and uplifting is of great value. Bodywork or a walk in nature is also a good start.

Here are some thoughts that I find valuable:

  • This too shall pass.
  • The Universe/God is with me.
  • I am asking for help and the Universe always responds. It's my job to let it in.
  • Inner being, what can I do to feel a tiny bit of relief?
  • I'm going to let myself be scared or hurt for a little bit and then I'll work my way to better feeling thoughts.
  • What are five things that are working well in my life right now?
  • I can have things go my way.
  • The Law of Attraction is like having a magic wand. I just have to relax.
  • I'm breathing my way into calm.
  • The only reason I feel discord is because I've separated myself from my Inner Being.

Hope is a great feeling to reach for at first. Then you'll have to pump up your faith that things will go your way by remembering past experiences where you've succeeded. You can also think about other people who have turned dire situations around. They had to go through the same steps as you to flip their switch to miracles.

When things begin to move in a favorable direction it will feel like magic, but it's just you relaxing into the truth that you are worthy of all good things.

What miracle have you prayed for recently?

The Very Creative Art of Worrying

man on thinking pose

What do you worry about most?

I once knew someone who said when there was nothing to worry about, then she worried there was something she had forgotten to worry about.

When we worry we tend to fixate on an imagined future event. Worry is always about uncertainty and how things may not turn out as we would like, and how we think we will cope with the consequences of that.

It really does require a lot of energy and imagination to come up with the endless permutations - not to mention the intense emotions and stress worry can cause us to experience.

Do you know the original meaning of the word worry?

'To harass by pursuit and barking; to attack repeatedly; also, to tear or mangle with the teeth.'

Interesting. Is this what you are doing to yourself when you are worrying?

Now that is a worrying thought.

And what is it that makes us worry about all the terrible things that could happen, when we could just as easily focus our attention on all the wonderful possibilities? That perhaps may be even better than we have imagined?

Worry really is an art form.

It is a form of creativity in, and of itself.

I asked someone recently, 'of all the things that you have worried about - how many of them have actually happened?'

People who worry often say that they 'just can't help it'. But what if that is not true?

For that to be true you would have to have no control over your mind and that is certainly not true. For many of us worrying is a habit we don't even remember learning.

Your mind will run away with itself.

It is what your mind does. It likes having problems to solve. There is nothing wrong with you. It is the same for all of us, until we choose something different.

The thing is that when we worry it quickly galvanises energy and draws to it similar energies. Have you ever noticed that when you begin to worry about one thing, then you find other countless things coming into your mind to worry about too?

Perhaps worrying is something that you have done your whole life. It is not something that you like, but maybe it's something that you've decided you cannot change. You may even have a point of view that it is just who you are.

As Gary Douglas, founder of Access Consciousness says, 'Your point of view creates your reality.'

And we get to choose our points of view.

So what if you could choose a different point of view?

I know you can.

So the next time you catch yourself worrying. Be kind to yourself. What you cannot see, you cannot change.

Remember this article and try something from the list below.

1. What other information do I require here?

2. What are the facts of this situation?

3. What is actually true?

4. What can I do today to create a different result?

5. How could this turn out better than I can imagine?

6. Find some ways to change your energy. Susan Grandfield has a great blog all about pressing pause. It is worth checking out.

Once you have pressed pause, you can then consciously choose something else.

And let me leave you with a question...

When faced with a crisis do you deal with it or go into meltdown? Truth.

Hmmm, so what if worry (fear) is just imagined?

Just asking.

A life without worry, what would you do with all that extra energy?

Perception, Truth and Reality

Woman Using Vr Goggles

The virtual world has its own dimension subject to the perception of an individual's feelings, thinking and imagination. It is a fact that perception is deceptive, in a sense, that it is part reality and not the whole truth. It is a reality within its own concept because of what is perceived is yet again a reality of thought, feeling and deductions. However, it differs in many aspects from total reality. Those who perceived are not wrong until reality exposes by itself or exposed by any other means.

It is established beyond doubt that to achieve reality and truth, human beings should intend to thrive for a goal in life which revolves around righteous path. German philosopher Immanuel Kant believed that there was a supreme principle of morality, and he referred to it as 'The Categorical Imperative'; It has two forms:

  1. Behave in such a way that a reasonable generalization of your action to a universal rule will lead to a benefit to a generic person under this universal rule.
  2. Always treat others as ends and not the means.

A categorical imperative, although, denotes an absolute, unconditional requirement that must be obeyed in all circumstances and is justified as an end in itself. It is best known in its first formulation:

His argument substantiates his principle of morality and existence after death. He devised an argument from morality based on practical reason. Kant argued that the goal of humanity is to achieve perfect happiness and virtue (the summum bonum) and believed that an afterlife must exist for this to be possible, and that God must exist to provide this. He has substantiated unequivocally in his work that there is an existence beyond this materialistic world. It also proves that existence is meaningful provided it is based on morality, reality and truth.

Those who have not understood his theories, or those do not subscribe to his research and work experience, take a detour in the direction which satisfy their intentions. It is not necessary that they should either prove themselves right or they remained attached to their stubbornness and arrogance.

An English writer and philosopher Aldous Huxley say there are things known and there are things unknown, in between are the doors of perception. Thus, perception which depends upon feelings and partial reality is guided by the fact that there are a reality and truth which substantiate the perception. It then exposes many vistas of truth and reality, thereby leading to 'The Categorical Imperative.' It will lead to absolute and a firm believe that existence has an end, it means there is a transformation from this realm into another. In other words, paving the way to metaphysical realm, which again proves the Absolute Reality of God.

There is a difference between reality and truth too. It is defined that in physics term, reality is the totality of the universe known and unknown. The reality alone is unique in its existence, but indirectly needs truth to withstand among doubts and confusion. The reality and truth are interdependent of each other to substantiate facts and phenomenon within its meaning and context. One cannot eliminate reality and truth from each other to substantiate perception. Therefore, it becomes an eternal triangle within this limited sense to reveal and substantiate a fact.

People must exercise caution when exploring the words and their meanings. A person can read is a reality, but he never read is a truth. Since he never reads (at least in front of others) does not mean that he is an illiterate. Although it sounds ambiguous to others, yet it is a reality. Hence the perception, truth and reality are existing in a realm of virtuosity and absolute factuality. We must dive deep into the subject within and outside the context to comprehend absolute truth and total reality. At this stage the perception becomes a reality and truth leading human beings to achieve dizzy height of success and total satisfaction.
