Message From the Universe: Simplicity of Life

"Fact of the matter is everything is a non-issue, until someone decides otherwise.

Which means you can now officially chill.

Blue,

The Universe"

You can decide the way you want to live your life, either in happiness or sadness. If you choose to be happy, then make sure to surround yourself with happy people and not feel obliged to be the person needing to save everyone else. However, if you choose to be sad, surround yourself with miserable people as misery certainly attracts misery. It is a pretty simple concept to follow and adhere to depending on how you choose to live your life. Most are familiar with drama queens or kings where they make mountains out of molehills at every occasion they get. They bring issues to every situation they get involved in. If you want to keep your sanity, stay AWAY from drama queens or kings.

You decide how everything should get filtered in your mind and what information to keep or get rid of. You will be the one who will decide the best way to live a life filled with love, gratefulness, appreciation and positivity. If you want to live a long life, stress free, start by embracing the good and bad changes that will enter your life and depends on what you make out of every situation you face, you can decide how to move forward. Some things you can't control and you should be OK with that. You decide what will raise an issue that should get resolved immediately and what can wait for you to figure out. No matter what happens, you should keep calm, chill, breath and figure out the best solution.

My Tips To Manage Stress In The Workplace (By Brenda Lee Mitchell)

I have some tips that I share with my team at stressful times to help them to manage anxiety. The first step is to decide what is actually stressing you. Is it a lack of time, not enough training or just too much to do?

Then you need to speak with your supervisor, a colleague or a friend to help you to deal with the stress. Here are some ways that we work through stress in my office:

1. Write your thoughts in a diary, keep a log in your task section or just a note-book. You do not need to share this with anyone. Give it a little bit of time, say a week, and look for reoccurring themes. Usually without realising, you will be noting something repetitively.

2. Give yourself a way to finish your day. A lot of us leave the office but don't officially finish our work day. We replay things in our mind and talk about work with our loved ones and even dream about it. Make a ritual for your after work health. My husband and I have a 30-minute rule. We have 30 minutes to get everything out and then we don't talk about work anymore for the evening.

3. Practice yoga, meditation, go for walks or hit the gym. Give your body and mind something healthy to focus on. I love to meditate in the morning so that my mind is clear and stress free before I start and I can think clearly. I prefer to exercise, in some form at night. You can try all different things in different orders until you find what works for you.

4. Watch what you put in your mouth, drinks and food make a difference to how you feel. Try to eat healthy food with lots of water as bad food will make you feel even worse.

5. When you are calm, go through your list of stress points with your team leader or manager and see what can be done to make it easier. Perhaps they have a way that they deal with the same item in a calm way. This is not about handing over your work, rather finding a way to deal with what you must do.

6. Take your breaks regularly. I was getting told constantly by my team that they were too busy for breaks, but it is just not productive. By taking that short afternoon tea break or having a break away from your desk you are actually giving your mind and body the time to repair. Your best work will flow when you are rested.

Stress can be different for everyone. Find what works for you and remember that your team is there to support each other. They may be feeling the same, so take the time to speak with each other and your leader.

The Stress Puzzle - Why Are We Stressed?

Woman Sitting Beside Table
Why is modern society defined by ever rising levels of stress?

Back in the sixties and seventies, people dreamt of a time when they could kick back and relax more because modern technology was finally there to help with tiresome tasks like cleaning the house. People dreamed of wonderful inventions that made life easier and essentially, happier.

Fast forward to the era of the eBay, iPhones and TV sets that could connect to the Internet in a heartbeat.

The present generation has experienced more advanced technology than all of the previous decades combined. Thanks to globalized trade and endless technological innovations, we can now enjoy the Internet 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Any ordinary laptop or PC that was assembled around the year 2012 would be at least 1,000,000 times more efficient at calculations than the computer that launched the Apollo rocket to the moon.

We are literally living the dream.

So the big question now is: why are we still stressed? Or more importantly: why are we even more stressed than our predecessors?

Sociologists, psychologists and even modern day economists have all tried to determine at which juncture our era has become completely and almost inextricably associated with stress.

The studies that tackle the "stress puzzle" are complex in their entirety. However, I have taken the liberty of summarizing the most important findings for everyone's benefit.

The Roots of Stress

Less Leisure Time - Many people often associate stress with having to deal with childcare and taking care of the household.

However, if we were to compare the amount of time that people spend taking care of their homes and families now, with the amount of time spent doing the same things back in the 1910's, we would arrive at the same average number of hours per week: 52 hours.

The reason for this is that we are now spending more time on additional activities such as grocery shopping and people don't usually find these activities leisurely.

So even if we have plenty of modern appliances to lessen the time needed to complete different tasks, the time that we could spend for leisure is now being consumed by additional, unavoidable activities and chores.

Stressors Abound - In an ideal world, a person who continually feels stressed at work would be able to unwind and de-stress when he/she comes home.

I'm sure there are some people who have managed to accomplish this feat and I am also certain that they are extremely happy that they "cracked the code."

However, for 60% of adult Americans, the scenario isn't as bright and stress free. The present reality is that more than 50% of all adults in America experience the same level of stress at home and at work. That means that an ordinary working adult no longer experiences a reprieve from stress because both environments are deemed stressful.

Harmful Societal Standards - It is no secret that modern society is still ruled by double standards, especially in the workplace.

Despite significant breakthroughs in the field of gender equality, many people still subscribe to the idea that a woman who is too independent and forward-thinking is undesirable.

On the flipside, a man who doesn't show the same set of skills is also considered a failure in terms of his professional character.

These double standards are actually toxic in the workplace because it encourages aggressive competition in males but fails to reward females who show drive and initiative. This can make the workplace an extremely frustrating and stressful place for both males and females.

Chronic Overwork - More than 25% of all adult working Americans complain of not having enough time in a day to finish everything they have to do.
To compensate for the scarcity of time, many adults resort to overworking, which usually leads to a "burnout" phase. It can be difficult to recover from burnout if nothing is actively done to reduce a person's stress levels at home and at work.

Fragmentation - The present divorce rate in the United States is a staggering 50%. This means that a significant percentage of the entire American population is comprised of single-parent families with only one main earner.

This reality is forcing many single parents (mostly females) to work twice or thrice as hard, just to keep up with the daily expenses of their families.

Obviously this situation is extremely stressful because leisure time is almost nonexistent and all other free time from work is diverted to taking care of the children and household.

Reasons Why You Should Be Happy With Who You Are

People in this world are all different. We have different talents, abilities, skills, and competencies. We are stronger in some areas, and more talented in others. When we look at the people around us, we should never feel inferior, because somebody might run faster, or has the looks of a movie star.

This does not diminish our own being. The good news is that you are unique in your own way. You have a set of talents like nobody else. You are a unique being. Say it twelve times a day, "I am happy with who I am", and really mean it.

That does not mean that you cannot improve some areas in your life, everybody should make some sort of self-improvement part of their life, just like exercising. My friend Todd has a picture on his timeline, saying, "Self-Improvement is the New Sexy!" Wouldn't you want to be sexy?

OK, back to our "I am happy with who I am". Being happy with who we are has a number of benefits.

Health - When we feel good about our own being we are stress free. We can enjoy life to the fullest. Stress affects our health in various ways, from anxiousness to eating disorders, which have negative influences on our bodies. Feeling good about who we are produces "feel good" hormones, that contribute to our happiness, and a healthy lifestyle.

Confidence - When you are happy with who you are, your level of confidence will rise in direct proportion to how you feel about yourself. Life will still have its ups and downs, but your confidence carries you through it all.

Decision-making - When you are proud of yourself, you will follow your heart. You will start making better decisions about your life, and your decision-making will be independent from other people's opinions. You will still seek council from people you trust, but the final decision is based on the confidence you have gained in yourself.

Attraction - Your "I am happy with who I am", will attract things and people into your life that you never dreamed of. The actions you take, based on your new gained confidence, is an attraction that others will notice. When you appreciate yourself, good things will start to happen.

Is there something in your life that you really feel proud of? Normally you would be proud once you have achieved something great. Essentially, showing pride is painting a picture of the passion for yourself, and for life itself. Personal independence allows you to experience such pride in great measure.

Personal independence is when you decide to take control of your life, and fully devote yourself to creating something that gives you meaning and purpose. If you have been working hard, for far too long, with little to show for, like running around in circles, then the best you could ever do is make a commitment to yourself, by declaring your own personal independence.
