Learn How to Cultivate Self-Discipline As a Success Mindset

Do you understand the connection between what you think and the success you experience, or do not experience, in your job or career? If you could learn to discipline your thoughts towards an attitude of success, do you believe it is possible you could in turn become successful?

There is a well-known phrase that talks about the importance of working smarter and while there are many interpretations of what it can mean, overall it is meant to emphasize the benefits of being focused, disciplined, and working hard. Hard work is the backbone of any career but over time, and when routine work habits are established and set in, the effort that a person exerts may become conditionally based. It could be due to a person's perception of a "bad" boss, poor working conditions, not receiving a pay increase or recognition for their effort, and the list continues. While there may certainly be merit to these feelings, it serves no real purpose to make working hard a conditional characteristic of your job performance.

If you care about your career development then working hard needs to be a top priority every day. However, hard work may seem unjustified if a person's expectations are not being met and that is where self-discipline comes into play. It is a matter of always being in control of your performance and responsible for the quality of your work. It also involves making a commitment to yourself and your career, one that is not dependent upon circumstances or influenced by circumstance no matter how challenging it may seem at the time. This will allow you to become disciplined and know that your best performance depends upon consistent effort, which establishes a mindset of career success.

Why Self-Discipline Matters

The development of a disciplined mindset allows you and your job performance to shine; whereas, the lack of intentional discipline sets you up for failure. Self-discipline is based upon a logical and rational perspective, is focused on being in control, and prompts the use of productive work habits. It is proactive with regards to job duties and career development, and it requires concentrated effort rather than striving to achieve absolute perfection.

Without self-discipline a person is more likely to be impulsive and unfocused, act based upon emotional responses, and be reactive to circumstances. It is easy to begin to work on becoming self-disciplined, whether or not it is a habit now, if you start by establishing an intention and make it a goal to perform your best at all times. It does not require prolonged struggle, only career goals. You can make choices based upon what is best for your job and/or career. Self-discipline involves maintaining control over your attitude, mindset, emotions, and thoughts at all times.

Discipline and Doing Your Best

Your job has a specific description, or at least an expectation of what it is you are supposed to accomplish. Over time, and as you become familiar with the daily tasks, you can determine what the minimum amount of effort is needed to complete the required duties and that may be enough for you to feel good when the workday ends. Then there are circumstances that influence the amount of effort you put in. There may be too much work, an upcoming deadline, or person in authority who is pressuring you to take on more work. You may willingly or grudgingly do more as requested; however, when you stop to consider this job do you realize it is your career at stake?

The attitude you develop about your job will also influence the attitude you have about your career development and progress. If your job performance involves putting in the minimal effort it is usually accompanied by feelings of job dissatisfaction and that may create a negative mindset about your career. It means you view your effort from the perspective of what you get from the job rather than what you can gain from it in the long term. When you are disciplined you maintain behaviors and an attitude that bolsters your daily productivity, which also provides you with the confidence needed to excel even when circumstances are less than perfect.

Learn to Develop Purposeful Intent

How do you feel good about a job and maintain that attitude, even when circumstances cause you to dislike it? You cannot force yourself to feel positive emotions when there are events or people who prompt negativity or feelings of frustration. What you can do is to change your perspective and that is where self-discipline matters. You can decide that you are going to feel good about yourself as a professional or as an employee despite the current conditions and anchor it to a position statement that is focused on your career goals. This allows you to create a disciplined mindset with purposeful intent and focus.

Your career is a series of steps and progress will occur over time and for some it will be accomplished through more than one position or job. At the heart of this is you as a person, and it is you who has an ability to learn and grow. With purposeful intent you can view each job as a stepping stone, which provides skills, knowledge, and direction. If one job does not meet your expectations or provides difficult conditions to work in, itemize what you have gained from it, list this information on your resume, and decide upon your next step. But no matter what, always make certain you have a disciplined focus or you will venture off course in your job and career plans.

Consider How an Employer Views Your Disposition

Consider for a moment that you are a hiring manager. What is the type of candidate you would consider hiring, if you were looking at more than the job description? Is it someone whose tone displays obvious frustration and does not seem to have much to say that is positive about their current employer or existing job? That is not a likely candidate for an employer based upon their attitude alone.

Now consider a candidate who comes along and has a professional presence, demonstrates a clear understanding of their career path or goals, and can articulate what they have gained from each of the jobs they've held throughout their career. That is a candidate who will likely gain your interest, even if they are not considered for the position, because they have demonstrated a disciplined mindset.

The point of reviewing these scenarios is to show the contrast between someone who possesses an underlying feeling of career helplessness or career control, which also demonstrates the difference between a disciplined and undisciplined mindset. If would like to be the candidate who is likely to get hired, establish a goal to be highly disciplined and productive.

Your disposition will carry over into the tone you convey when you speak with potential employers, along with your overall attitude about career development. As a professional resume writer I can spot a person's disposition through their choice of words and how they describe their jobs when I talk to them. Someone who is disciplined and views all jobs as a learning experience has self-confidence about who they are and the talents they possess, regardless of job conditions or circumstances.

How to Develop Self-Discipline and Focus

Career Planning: You can begin to develop a hard-working, self-disciplined mindset right now by first examining your career plans. If you cannot articulate the specifics of your career, now is the time to get started. At the very least, decide upon a short-term and a long-term career goal. This will give you a sense of direction, one that can help you find what can be learned instead of focusing on existing working conditions.

The purpose of developing a career plan is to provide you with an ability to create purposeful intent. When you walk into the workplace each day you can remind yourself you are able to learn from any situation, even if what you learn is that you are no longer growing or moving forward in your career.

Learning and Growth: An important component of a disciplined mindset is maximizing your learning and growth potential. If you have developed a productive working relationship with your supervisor or manager, ask them if there is more that you can do. For example, perhaps you can take on an extra project that is based upon a departmental or business need. To some people this may seem to be counter-intuitive and an attempt to become the "teacher's pet" - or some other type of negative phrasing.

If you are asking from a perspective of having a genuine interest and seeking professional development, and the need is recognized, this will create a feeling of accomplishment within you. As you continue to work hard you may even extend the timeline that you work for this particular employer. You will also likely be viewed as valuable employee, although the ability to remain disciplined will matter most in the long term for your career.

Self-Discipline as a Success Mindset

Becoming disciplined can have a variety of descriptions, including working hard, attaining maximum productivity, or maintaining a focus on what must be accomplished every day. The most meaningful correlation between a focused mindset and effort is the development of peak performance. This working definition speaks to the heart of what working to the very best of your abilities should mean. It is striving to maximize your performance with your current skills and abilities while being open to learning and development, and putting in more than the minimum effort required.

There are going to be times when you aren't at the top of your game and that is certainly understandable. There will be some days that you find yourself working to the very best of your abilities and other days that find you putting in the best effort possible. The importance of being disciplined means that you do not allow job conditions be the reason why you are not functioning at peak productivity; whether there are new policies to adapt to, additional demands made of your job, or other circumstances.

You can always be in control of your actions and strive for peak performance as a matter of your career development. Learn to develop self-discipline as a mindset and attitude about how you work every day and watch your career continue to evolve as this sense of self is reflected in the outcomes you experience, both personally and professionally. The most effective way to be in control of your career and establish a pattern of success is to control how you think and how you work. Self-discipline is a productive state of mind and focused attitude that you can implement starting now. When your attitude is honed on performing your best, you will find yourself mentally resistant to adverse conditions and ready for new career opportunities. You are mentally disciplined and both you and your career are transformed.

There Are Times When Second Place Is a Win

Have you ever played a game with someone whose sole focus was to win? It can be a joyless, unsatisfying and singularly unpleasant experience, especially if we were really looking forward to sharing some fun times and enjoying each other's company.

If our opponent is disinterested in anything other than winning we may even mentally walk away with a shrug and a resigned, 'you go for it, I'm not that bothered' mindset. Winning isn't always about coming first; indeed second place can be a win, sometimes offering a more rounded experience.

Let's reflect on those times when second place is a win:

- When you're less full on you can relax and enjoy the game, become immersed in the process of taking part, playing, participating. Being solely focused on beating everyone else can mean that there's little joy in the time spent together. It can make for a tense, stressful experience. A better time is had by all when everyone feels included, is able to relax and know that they're not going to be judged or criticised for doing their best, especially when it doesn't bring a win. I remember a time, years ago, when several of us decided to stop playing lunchtime rounders. The games had become so competitive, with team captains screaming orders, berating us if we didn't catch the ball!

- Less pressure means you're able to enjoy more comfortable relationships. Playing together, taking time to help each other, give advice and laugh at mistakes means you get to know each other in a more relaxed setting. You may be happy to help each other improve even though you're technically there to win, sharing tips on how they can perhaps even beat you! It's all in the furtherance of those friendships and afterwards you'll all feel the benefits of getting to know each other better.

- It's important to reasonably often find ourselves challenged and stimulated in a myriad of ways. Sometimes that can be quite stressful. And yet, there are also many ways where we can challenge ourselves without becoming stressed and aggressive, where we're not totally focused on the eventual outcome and whether or not we'll come first. But some stress is good for us and keeps us on our toes, encourages us to think outside the box helps us push ourselves further.

- Looking at ways of keeping a game or competitive event interesting can include many skills. Reading body language, noting how your opponent plays their hand and making discreet observations and decisions can make it a more fun experience when you practise these skills. With that in mind you could choose to vary your game, play your hand a little differently, experiment and challenge yourself, rather than simply powering on ahead with the sole aim of wiping out your opposition.

Of course there are times when we really do need to be driven, committed and intent on winning, those times when coming out on top is the only thing we have in mind, but there are plenty of other times when it's great to enjoy the game, have fun and share the experience with the others in the room. Sometimes you win far more than you lose by coming second.

A Key To Success Is Your Passion And Purpose In Life - Your True Free Will Lived

Do you have goals and objectives, and I also mean do you have a strong focus in life, or are you consumed by lacking thoughts?

Have you invested a great deal of effort, cash, and time to achieve financial freedom and yet feel you haven't made it?

For all your effort do you still feel that there is something missing in your life? I mean it is certainly crucial to set objectives in your life.

When faced with a number of options, it provides you a focus a way forward a mechanism for making choices. It can also be a jail cell.

How can having clear-cut objectives goals while having fun and focus be a prison cell, is what I'm asking you to consider?

The Course in Miracles shows us that it becomes a prison cell when you produce goals based upon your regretful past experiences, perhaps where you recall failures too hard to handle.

Simply put, then you set the future on the past.

When all the time you are stuck within the border of your previous regrets and fear of the future, it creates the illusion that you are moving forward in life.

It's like driving your life vehicle on the path to success by searching in the rear view mirror all the time.

You have a fantastic vision of exactly what took place in the past, however haven't a hint about what is coming in front of you.

The point is: whatever took place in the past is not a true indication of your full potential.

As the late Wayne Dyer mentioned, "To pull your own strings and grow, you need to be both ready and willing to let your future and present be opposite your past. Your regret of the past is not your destiny."

If you continue to do exactly what you have constantly done then you can only anticipate getting the life of what you've constantly gotten, simply put.

The unfavorable in your mind or on exactly what is missing out on in your life you have no option but to focus and produce limited goals if you continuously focus on the past.

You are back in that prison cell once again and you need to break the cycle, so how do you do it?

You change your thinking, which means a chance to create the life you want is the meaning of success and to learn to develop and then pave the road ahead.

An opportunity to create a focus and objectives that you desire to attain, means answering to, where are you now, and where you want to go, and the being committed to taking action.

- Where are you in life?

- Explain your present scenario.

- What are your top priorities in life?

- Do you like where your life is going?

- Where do you wish to go?

Exactly what is the true meaning of success to you can be answered to the question of, 'when you are on your death-bed recalling your life' exactly what would you want to think your life was about?

Check out these concerns deeply and often until you feel you actually understand where you are now and where you wish to go.

How you arrive will end up being obvious as you advance, and without rushing, because time is on your side no matter what age you are.

Keep focused within, on your true inner essence, and think of you as opening a savings account or investment portfolio of the self, so to speak.

The more time you put in, the more credit and appreciation of your equities and bonds appear on the account and therefore in time the more is offered for withdrawal.

Now the crucial question:

Previously I discussed the many law of manifestation tools available today in the form of free e-books and so much more on the web that can be quite helpful for living your true free will.

So, exactly what holds you back?

What stops you from choosing exactly what you wish to accomplish in your life?

It is not enough simply to create a focus and a plan, and you must comprehend where you are now and where you want to go.

To change something you have to DO SOMETHING NOW!

Put your focus into action, because it's your focus and you have thought it, designed it and built it, now have the desire, enthusiasm and objective to execute it.

Since, at the minute, you have no evidence of what is going to happen, and the only evidence you have is in the past.

To regret the past and fear the future is only keeping you confined to your own self-made prison cell.

There is something miracle-minded about this process called life.

If you look back over your life you will discover, like many others have, that most of the time you set out to do something you didn't have the ability prior, but you started anyhow.

All you must muster up is self-discipline, enthusiasm and guts, and being aligned to your true free will while in this world.

To give yourself a better than typical opportunity for attaining the meaning of success, each night before you go to sleep use these words I've borrowed from the Course in Miracles in prayer or meditation:

If I lose or forget my goal in life let me remember what my purpose is.

Have the nerve to drive towards your goals and objectives, the passion and purpose with strong enthusiasm to keep going and the discipline to create a new practice even when it is difficult.

Keep focused and keep moving forward in life.

On a regular basis ask yourself, what did I do today to bring me closer to achieving my goals and objectives and my focus in life?

Begin right now in this instant to walk free of that self-made jail cell, because the door swings easily open.

(I suggest searching the web for further material on how to empower oneself with the power of manifestation material available today.)

To happiness and success!

If Only You Believe - Why It Matters

Human nature may be defined by two groups, those whose focus is on the probabilities in life and those who dare to focus on the possibilities. The possibility group is always focused on what can be possible while the probability group denies the existence of anything they cannot see, touch or test. For many in the latter group extraordinary events, even miracles are often pooh poohed and mocked. Impossible, they say! And for them it may be.

Our planet has recently entered the outer bands of multi-dimensional energy. The possibility believers will notice the changes first. Things that others called impossible begin to manifest before their eyes! Information and events they have longed for and dreamed of can soon become reality as cures to difficult diseases seem to appear in totally unexpected ways. Information will arrive to those who are seeking answers even though they may not recognize the source, they simply know this may work; and it will. Aging will be dramatically slowed, not by fancy products but by people who learn to move into this new energy. Life spans will be lengthened while the quality of life is greatly enhanced. The physician within will be heard and acknowledged. All these possibilities are likely to be deemed as nonsense, impossible even, by those probability believers. Why does it matter what you believe?

Look carefully at events that have transpired in your own life. Look closely at events that happened to others, events that caused you to search deeply for how it could have happened. Those are the times you were confronted by the differences in what you believe. Colonel Sanders is a great example. This senior citizen may have been the only believer in possibilities, yet he persevered forward to become a household name. The same is true of Mary Kay, a host of artists, authors and even world leaders. Their legacy is defined by what they were willing to believe; they became a part of the rich history of world events. Imagine how different history would have been written if not for these possibility believers!

What is the real difference in these two groups? Probability believers are severely limited to what they can achieve or become in life. Everyone's opportunities in life are limited to what they can accept as reality, now or in the future. Those who rebuff possibilities are limited to what they already know, what they already believe is possible. Their focus does not extend beyond 'practicality' unless they are forced to seek a miracle. This often happens in doctors' offices and hospitals where the unthinkable has arrived on their horizon and crashed into their lives. No one knows anything that can help a desperate situation and suddenly, they look beyond the probabilities which are unacceptable.

People who are creative and in touch with harmony and the energy around them are the strongest examples of possibility believers and they affect our lives. They are always on a quest for something new; a new design, a new idea, a new way forward. They can become strong problem solvers because they routinely look beyond the obvious. Benjamin Franklin, Albert Einstein and Thomas Edison are among the more famous of those who affected our world because they dared to believe in what might be possible.

If you are willing to remove the self-imposed limits on what might be possible, dispose of the idea that others may find you frivolous or uninformed, you will be poised to take a leap of faith directly into energy that is more magical than we ever dared believe! Obstacles can easily be disposed of while solutions arrive unexpectedly. Miracle shall follow miracle and wonders shall never cease, if only you can believe.

How To Be Confident At Work

We all have self doubts sometimes.

If your confidence is threatened, there are things you can always do to restore. Some of them are as follows:

- Be focused. When at work, it's always good to stay focused. Do what is required at the right time and with the correct practices.

- Ask questions. It is recommended to ask questions when you are not sure of what to do or when you're not familiar with the procedures. Ask questions about the quality of work you need to submit and how to be the best in what you do.

- Ask for feedback. Once you perform a task, it's polite to ask for feedback. This will help you to know if you are on the right track with task performances at work. You will also know how people regard your work.

- Accept mistakes. We are not always perfect. We all are human and we make mistakes. Accept your mistakes and work to correct them.

- Trust your gut. Think positively and trust your gut feelings. Most of the time they are right. It is always good to believe in your self and to believe in your work too.

- Find supportive workmates. It's good to associate yourself with positive people who well help you with challenges and build up on your self-confidence. They will also assist you whenever you need help without criticizing you.

- Boost your knowledge. At work, it's good to read a lot and research more to add knowledge. Knowing how certain processes and task are done will help you to be confident.

- Do personal training. Once you learn that you are not familiar with some procedures at work, it is good to self-train so that you are not stuck. Try doing tasks at work alone to see how well you can manage.

- Be positive. It's recommended that you think positively. Take your criticism positively and work on them. Negativity will only make things worse.

- Have fun. At work, make sure you enjoy what you do and have fun with it. It is not advisable to embark on work that doesn't make you happy as you will not be able to do your best in it.

- Be thorough. Go through your work, eliminate your mistakes and research well. When presenting you will be confident knowing you gave it your best and it's of the best quality.

Put a smile on your face, dress smart and be confident. Everyone will notice it.

Why You Cannot Stay Focused - Causes and Solutions

Would you like to stay focused and enjoy an unmatched level of concentration like Albert Einstein? This may seem too elusive courtesy of distractions that form an inevitable part of life and also tend to draw your attention away from the core areas, but it is definitely not impossible.

Irrespective of whether you are a student, a professional or a stay-at-home individual, poor concentration is something that does tend to set in over a period of time and very soon you find yourself struggling to stay focused. Invariably you start the day worrying incessantly about your inability to focus and this in turn leads to undue mental stress. If ignored and allowed to grow unabated, it could also impair your memory and aggravate into amnesia.

What Causes You To Lose Focus?

Loss of concentration and focus is due to several causes which are -

Inability to control self-talk - All of us are born with that little voice in our heads that keeps on talking throughout the day. While some of it may pertain to the present, much of it is distraction and tends to draw you away from your current situation. And before you even realize, your mind is wandering all over the world.

Procrastination - To procrastinate is human. While you may have won a momentary victory by getting away from a particular task, the stress of completing it at a later date is enough to destroy your focus on the task at hand.

Scattered brain - When you have too many things on your mind, chances are that you are unlikely to stay focused on any of them. Maybe you are an expert at multi-tasking but there are times when everything piles up and demands attention. Such situations usually trigger stress and may also lead to memory loss.

Is There A Solution To Stay Focused?

Indeed there is a solution to this problem and it entails a combination of both internal and external remedies.

Internally you would be required to make an effort to stay more in the 'now', to prepare a list of to-do jobs and follow it and prioritize tasks so as to minimize procrastination. Externally, you could rely on supplements to enhance cognitive functions and memory. These would enable you to recover from undue stress and experience a significant improvement in overall personal health.

Using Natural Supplements to Stay Focused

Natural supplements could be taken in form of tablets or tonic and are enriched with antioxidants and tonics like Jala Brahmi and Arjuna which boost blood circulation to the neural region. Herbs like ashwagandha shield your nervous system from the degenerative effects of stress and in the process enhance cognitive functionality, thus improving both concentration and focus.

Natural herbs in supplements, particularly ashwagandha, energize and fortify the body's immune system. You are thus better poised to overcome weakness and recover from mental stress.

Another big positive is the absence of side effects while using these natural supplements, their positive impact on your health notwithstanding. Of course these supplements need to be taken as per the prescription so as to derive maximum benefit.

Final Word

Once your concentration improves and you are able to stay focused, there are bound to be a number of positive developments in your life, like faster completion of tasks, enhanced productivity and better quality of work. Success does not seem as elusive as before and you tend to enjoy every aspect of your life more than ever.

6 Effective Ways to Be Relieved From Stress

Stress is an awful experience that not so many people want to experience, especially if you are at work, at home taking care of your baby or in your bedroom making some projects while preparing for an upcoming major exam. While stress is inevitable, the good news is it is completely manageable.

There are different ways you can do to combat stress. Even if you consider yourself as the busiest person in your workplace, school, or home, it is still possible to come out feeling relaxed and focused despite of the grind around you.

Learn how others are doing it and take note of these tips:

Meditation

Meditation can help you be relieved from stress by targeting your mind. Whether you believe it or not, your mind and everything that's inside of it (whatever it is), can bring about stress to your life. When unresolved for a long time, it can affect all other areas such as your body, your emotions, and even your social life.

Most commonly people experience mental stress and one of the ways to combat this is through meditation. Meditation works by easing the anxiety on your mind. It can be done for just a few minutes daily and you can do it anytime during the day.

Relaxation techniques

If you are prone to getting stressed easily, what better way to combat this than by doing various relaxation techniques?

Some of the relaxation techniques you can learn and apply are yoga, deep breathing exercise, and meditation rhythmic exercise.

By doing these techniques, you allow the body to elicit its own natural relaxation response. This will lead to a more peaceful and calm feeling. You would be able to finish the day with a go getter attitude, and you will surely love that!

Have someone to talk to

Stress can get into your nerves easily and when that happens, it will start to affect your performances daily. Don't let it get the best of you. Begin by disclosing how you feel to someone you can trust. That person could be your best friend, a relative, or a professional counselor.

It actually helps a lot if you make it a habit to share your thoughts and feelings to someone rather than keeping all inside until they accumulate and bring about negative effects to your health and daily activities.

Have a body massage

Body massage is one of the proven ways to get relief from stress. Recommended by doctors and other health professionals, body massage ease the anxiety in your mind and relaxes the muscles in your body.

It gives you a calm and relaxing feeling as the masseur's hands glide swiftly through your back, head, extremities, and thighs. Professional masseurs use various massaging techniques for various conditions.

At the end of the day, when you are feeling so stressed out from work, school, home, or some activities that you did during the day, consider getting yourself a good body massage and you'll surely come out feeling rejuvenated.

Go for an adventure

From time to time, it pays a lot if you take a break from what you are doing. Especially if it has been causing you a lot of stress lately, one of the things you can do to be relieved from it is by going for an adventure.

The most common form is by taking a trip either alone or with friends and loved ones. Renew your mind by breaking the daily grind and discover new things at a different pace. As you enjoy the adventure, you get to have more peace of mind and have more time to think about other things.

Aside from that, going for an adventure is one way to treat oneself after days of toiling hard for work. It is actually getting more personal space that one would have not possibly experience if done otherwise.

Manage your time well

While going for an adventure will give you lots of benefits, not everyone will have the luxury of time to always do it.

If that was the case, you can still be relieved from stress by managing your time well every single day. This means you allocate your time wisely and effectively. Have time to do your tasks while setting aside ample time for rest and relaxation.

Avoid the Mañana Habit so that you can always accomplish tasks on time. Don't spread yourself too thin.

Many health professionals would agree that stress can be the root cause of all major health problems. Don't let that ever happen to you. Manage stress well while you still can.

Failures Build Characters

woman sitting on grey cliff

Failure is the flipside of success. Call it the opposite of success and you are not wrong.

Our mindset determines how we look at this 7-letter word. I am sure you agree with me, here. But, if not, please read on.

To some of us, the word is a stepping stone. To others, it is a stumbling block. Different stroke for different folks.

But, whichever way you view this failure scale, there are consequences. It may be positive or negative, progressive or regressive, constructive, destructive.

When we set targets, objectives, timelines, or whatever. It is either we meet out targets, or we do not.

If we meet our target, we regard ourselves as being successful and if not, we indulge in self pity. Some will even blame outside factors for their failures.

Others, who read our body language and attitude, also see us as having failed. But have we? Well, from the negative point of view, we have failed.

However, those who are positive, optimistic, constructive, and always looking at life from a brighter angle, know the real meaning of failure.

To them, it is temporary, a stepping stone, time of rest, sober reflection and character building.

When you lost out in a relationship, marriage, project, career, education, finances, whatever, it is most likely you feel discomfort and downcast. It is natural and I have felt this way times without number. We all have.

But, let us look beyond the temporary discomfort and see our situations as yet another opportunity to strengthen our characters.

Yes, that is exactly what it is - an opportunity to be focused, resilient, humble, determined, sincere, optimistic, transparent and truthful, in our dealings with ourselves and others.

I have observed that powerful, wealthy, famous, and successful achievers in developed and developing countries, go through many failures in life. In reality, no one is immune to failure.

Till this minute, these people are still going through failures and have refused to give up. This is the spirit I too is trying to cultivate.

In truth, everyone - the wealthy and the poor go through failures. How we look at the word depend on our mindset.

But, building of noble characters by great and ordinary people across the world is fired by failures. Reflect on this.

Failure is good, desirable, the other side of success, and helps build characters for everyone in every country, in service to God and humanity.

Unleashing Faith In Business (By Dr. Shauntel Peak-Jimenez, Ph.D)

Close-up Photo of Man Wearing Black Suit Jacket Doing Thumbs Up Gesture

After being an entrepreneur for almost a decade (at the writing of this article) I can guarantee you that things are not always a "bed of roses," sometimes that "bed of roses" has some thorns in it. What do I mean by that? I mean that there has been ups and downs, trying times, and times when I felt like "Is this business stuff really meant for me?" Yes, it's all good now, almost ten years later, but it sure wasn't always that way.

What kept me going? One of the biggest things that kept me motivated was faith. I prayed and asked God for divine direction and divine wisdom. I also asked Him for divine strength. And I remembered that I wasn't in the business world all alone. Entrepreneurship is fun and rewarding, but that doesn't mean that there are not struggles.

One of my biggest struggles as an entrepreneur was when my 2 week old grandson passed away. I was going through a lot, but I still had to stay focused on what I was doing in business. I had to tap into my faith and divine strength so that I could keep going "in the midst" of so much pain. Maybe you haven't faced what I faced, but we all face something, but the key is not to give up.

Remember that God has called you to business for a reason, but that doesn't mean that things will always be easy, but what it does mean is that you will have the grace to overcome any roadblocks, and can be an amazing and successful entrepreneur. And it means that because you are operating in divine purpose you can live a more meaningful and fulfilling life. One that makes you excited to get out of bed and looking forward to serving others. A life that is built on the foundation of faith, happiness, and peace. A life that gives you an abundance of freedom emotionally, mentally, spiritually, and financially. And a life that you deserve. So remember that faith works in life and in business.

5 Top Tips To Get Creative

Training, education, facilitating, developing, teaching... whatever your preferred terminology they all have one thing in common, and that is that they all require a fair degree of creativity if they are going to be done well.

I don't know about you, but sometimes it feels like the hardest thing in the world to get creative! It requires us to give ourselves time, space to think and to let ideas evolve and develop. Day-to-day, there just doesn't seem to be time to do that, there is always so many other things demanding our attention that it becomes very easy to be task focused.

However, luckily being creative is much like a muscle. The more you do it, the easier and stronger it becomes. So, to help you get your creative hat back on, try one of these fab tricks:

1. Do a doodle - don't think about it too much. Just grab pen and a blank piece of paper and see what you draw for a few moments. Let your mind wander and see what ideas you come up with.

2. Get Moving - if you are struggling to think of how you can deliver a key learning point effectively, take a break. Get up and go for a brisk walk, get some fresh air, move your body. All of these things will give you a break from thinking about the problem and when you come back to it, you'll come back with the fresh pair of eyes.

3. Set yourself some limitations - what would you do if you couldn't use PowerPoint, or a particular piece of content has to be delivered in 20mins, or if you had to use a particular delivery method? Sometimes having a limitation can help us find a more creative solution.

4. Get your filing done - doing a mundane task like filing, which require little thought can help you see a problem from a different angle. If you are working on something that doesn't require much brain power, your mind is free to think about other things and explore other ideas - you might find you get an "Ah-ha!" moment.

5. Tip the Bucket - sometimes a good old brainstorm is just the trick to get your creative juices flowing. Just make sure you write down everything that comes to mind, don't dismiss any ideas in the storming process, just write them down! You never know where you will find an idea which with a little bit of polish can turn into a gem!

Coping With Narcissistic Rage

Hate is the complement of fear and narcissists like being feared.

It imbues them with an intoxicating sensation of omnipotence.

~Sam Vaknin, Malignant Self Love: Narcissism Revisited~

Psychiatrist Mark Goulston tells us that engaging people in the midst of narcissistic rage is not likely to be productive. If it is safe, you might just listen until they are finished ranting. You can later request that they talk with you in a calm and respectful manner. If that does not happen the next time, it might be best to just walk away if you can or avoid such people altogether.

Susan Whitbourne, Ph.D. suggests specific ways to handle narcissists:

  • Determine which type you're dealing with. A grandiose narcissist might be a good ally if your goals exactly match theirs. Vulnerable narcissists are harder to deal with because they are constantly on the lookout for people who might further diminish their already poor concept of themselves.
  • Acknowledge your annoyance. Learn to recognize where your annoyance lies, usually related to the person who constantly interrupts you when you are trying to accomplish something.
  • Appreciate where the behavior comes from. Understand that vulnerable narcissists need to make themselves feel better. A modicum of reassurance for them is necessary to focus them on a group task. Just don't get carried away with praising them or they will take over a project.
  • Evaluate the context. Some situations will worsen tendencies toward being defensive, vindictive and spiteful. One example is a narcissist who is passed over for a promotion but still needs to work with the team who they are not leading.
  • Maintain a positive outlook. Some narcissists enjoy seeing others suffer. Letting them see your annoyance is likely to just increase their efforts to make your life more miserable.
  • Don't let yourself get derailed. Stay focused on your own goals despite a narcissist's efforts to take center stage and monopolize the direction of your group.
  • Keep your sense of humor. Try using humor to react to a narcissist's attempt to monopolize group goals rather than direct confrontation.
  • Recognize that the person may need help. Narcissists whose low self esteem leads them to their disruptive behavior may be in need of help to find better ways to improve how they see themselves.

These suggestions appear to be good ones when you are the one in charge. If the narcissist is the one in charge, your chances of using any of them successfully will be quite diminished. Using any of these approaches when you are in a vulnerable or one-down position is likely to be seen as undermining the power of the narcissist in charge. In such a situation, your options for improving the situation do not look good. Your best bet may be to find a way to remove yourself from the situation or group.
Maybe you are not ready to flee or are in a position of not being able to afford doing so. Now what? Susan Price has some ideas. Here is one possible scenario: "Your boss is a complete narcissist: he expects you to be at his whim all day, he blames everyone for mistakes except himself, argues and contradicts employees with every small detail even things he said himself!" If this sounds familiar, read on. Here are her suggestions for handling the situation:

  • Forget being friends. You will have to sell your soul to be considered a friend by such a person. Remember that narcissists are not capable of making friends in the sense of having mutual respect and caring for each other. Your interests are never a priority.
  • Don't criticize. Your criticism will never be taken at face value. Anger or rage is to be expected when you criticize a narcissist.
  • Focus on analyzing problems. Sharing your feelings is not likely to get you anywhere. Narcissists are interested only in their own feelings. Instead, concentrate on problems and potential solutions. Then, don't count on receiving credit for a good idea.
  • Let him or her make decisions. Presenting options works better than suggesting the best option. Then allow him or her to take credit for the plan.
  • Make him or her look and feel good. His or her importance and having it recognized are uppermost in such a person's mind. Don't be stingy with praise.
  • Absorb the blame. Narcissists never see themselves at fault. Someone else is always the blame for whatever goes wrong.
  • Set boundaries and keep them. Try to focus on solutions and temper criticism with praise.
  • Don't compete. Don't expect praise for yourself or thanks for doing a good job. A narcissist will always take credit for teaching you to do a good job.

To survive, you need to set aside your own needs and become a cog in the machine operated by a narcissistic boss. Staying afloat is a tricky business and has few rewards. You might be better off finding a more rational and rewarding position. If you decide to stay, don't expect much for yourself.
You might be wondering whether dealing with a narcissist with power is a lost cause. It is difficult but not impossible. In a social group, you can work with others to reconstitute the group without the offending narcissist. In a corporation, the board of directors, informed by shareholders and workers, has power over any given boss. In government, citizens have power to elect representatives who have the power to contain if not remove narcissists not in touch with public needs. In all these cases, your job is to start working with others and find a mutual path toward resolving the impasse.

Life Lab Lessons

  • Dealing with a narcissist is an uphill battle at best.
  • Don't expect to do the impossible.
  • Don't expect too much of yourself.
  • Get support from others in your venture.
  • Try to avoid situations where narcissists have power over you.

Staying Focused on Your Goals

Photo of Woman Lifting Dumbbell

It is so easy to tell yourself that you are going to accomplish something new or a goal, but what happens when this task takes longer than you had allowed for? Your motivation starts to disappear and quite often you give up on the idea altogether.

It definitely can be hard staying focused on your goals. Weight loss is a fine example of this. If you have ever tried to lose weight you know your enthusiasm is so high for the first week or two. As you make lifestyle changes the pounds drop off quickly and you are feeling great about your efforts.

A few weeks into your diet you plateau and don't lose any weight. You start to eat a little more or stop exercising as much and then before you know it you have abandoned your goal and have gone back to your old habits.

There are several reasons for this. First you may not have recognized that plateauing is a perfectly normal occurrence when it comes to losing weight. Secondly did you use not losing any weight as an excuse to have that extra treat or to miss a workout? Your mind can do wonderful things and is capable of coming up with hundreds of reasons to not do something.

Quick Tips for Staying Focused and Motivated:

• Set smaller goals - small goals lead to big achievement
• Keep a calendar, food tracker or exercise planner to keep you on track
• Share your goals with someone else - accountability buddy
• Join a group of people with the same goals - inspirational group to motivate you

By creating smaller goals you won't feel as overwhelmed when your results start to dwindle or slow down. If you break this down further into weekly targets you can easily stay focused longer. It isn't as hard to do something new from a Monday to Friday as it is to think about doing it for months at a time.

Next you really need to be honest with yourself. If you have lost 15 pounds before you hit that plateau then congratulate yourself on that achievement. Focus on what you have done and not where you have to go! This is why it is often a good reason to keep photos of your weight loss journey. When you are feeling down take a look at them and remember what you did look like.

By changing your mindset to be more positive and staying focused on your goals you will create better results. If you want to skyrocket your success and improve your overall life, take action today and set your goals to live a satisfying life. Just put it on the calendar and do it, one step at a time.

Life Lessons - The Secret of Positive Perception

For many years I went through tough times and I became driven to find out why these things were happening to me. This became one of my life's greatest challenges. I was so stuck in a victim mindset of why me, that I almost missed out on life's greatest lessons and tests that were being presented before me. Little did I know, that I was in preparation for my advancement. At that time it felt like I was living in hell. The perception I had of my experience then was not great, I was more focused in the negative, full of fear and looking for someone or something to blame and take responsibility.

Then one day I discovered that I was not the only one going through tough times, there where many others going through tough experiences too. Even though their experiences were a bit different to mine, they were still being challenged to the core, so this gave me comfort knowing that the tough journey was not just for me. Due to this understanding I began to give myself permission to come out of the victim mindset that had me in a mental prison for many years. You see all of us have to go through some tough times at different periods of our lives and nobody really knows why we need to have these experiences. This then causes us to ask ourselves what we can do about it? Most people get stuck here, because of this question. You tell yourself that you don't know what to do which basically is a recipe for mental bondage that then leads to the victim mindset.

What you choose to do here will define the path that you will follow. Lets take an example. Have you ever felt like you were a victim of any circumstance? What follows that mindset is a spiralling down into negative emotions you will start to feel helpless, hopelessness and pretty quickly you are down in the dumps? This is very common to most of us, we have areas were we are adamant that it's beyond our understanding, so it's easier for us to make the assumption that it's somebody's fault, so when you start to think like this it makes you lose your power over what's happening. Once you get in that state of mind or belief it's very hard to come out of it, you will need something much more powerful than that state of mind for you to be free.

At this point many are asleep, so they need to wake up from their slumber. When you are wake up something changes, you become aware of how you have been playing small and have become a victim. Once you are aware of this you open a door for your perception to change. The journey of being positive starts here and this experience is what I call a shift into a new way of thinking. This transitioning time of transformation is usually slow but well worth the wait.

We all know that transitioning is usually a challenging time as you are working on letting go of the old so that the new can set in. Most of us find change very difficult to deal with as by nature we often fight against any change, because we prefer to sit and dwell in the things that we are familiar with which is otherwise called the comfort zone. In the comfort zone most of us we dwell there for very long periods, what we don't realise is that change is going to happen anyway whether we accept it or fight it. So it is usually good to go with the flow instead of resisting and fighting. For you to accept the change and be in flow with it you need to have a positive perception of the circumstances that you are going through.

The most challenging question that many people ask is how to stay positive? Generally we are creatures of habit we find just changing one thing out of our usual pattern rather painful but it is consistence, endurance, persistence, perseverance and patience that usually brings the greatest results.

When's A Good Time to Set Goals and Resolutions?

Certain times of the year lend themselves to setting goals and resolutions; it might be the start of a new year, a particular birthday, Lent or simply a sense that it's time for something to change.

It can be a valuable exercise to reflect on the things that motivate us and then identify the positive results those achievements will bring into our lives. What ABC's will help you to stay focused on reaching your goals and resolutions?

Your resolution A's

Ambition can generate enough energy to remain enthusiastic and stay on track so that we stay focused on our goals. Whether we've decided to lose weight, stop smoking, learn another language or make significant plans for our future, the stepping-stones to reach those goals need to be clear enough for us to follow. Ensure that your goals are your own, that you're not implementing changes to placate, please or keep someone else happy. Doing things for others can work for a time, but it's often difficult and unsatisfying to sustain.

Allies can help us maintain our resolve; if you're starting a fitness regime it can help to train with others, but those friends or family need to be equally committed. With business goals a coach or mentor can be a valuable asset, making you answerable for your progress whilst reflecting on the direction you're aiming for. Occasional setbacks and slip-ups can be recovered from and treated as part of the ongoing learning experience, a temporary blip along the way.

Be prepared to be adventurous at times. Sometimes detours and unexpected opportunities may take you off the straight and narrow, but they can also open up doors to a whole new set of experiences, introduce you to new contacts and enhance the scope of your success.

Your resolution B's

Believe you can or believe you can't and you're right! Trust in yourself, that you'll find a way or learn from the experience. Then you grow and add a better perspective to your expectations and way of thinking. Allow yourself to be inspired. My little book '101 Days of Inspiration' might help to keep the flame alight.

Balance is important in helping to alleviate stress and enable you to enjoy the many different areas of life; your work, family, friends and interests. When you enjoy the journey you're able to appreciate each step you take and the benefits of each stage of your progress, without losing sight of what's important in your life. Clear goals and resolutions should fit into the overall picture of your life, with measurable results to celebrate along the way.

Breaks can require slowing down and sometimes being prepared to take a little longer. But this can be a benefit in disguise, helping you to achieve what's important but equally allowing you to support your health and happiness along the way. Breaks often mean that upon your return you come back feeling refreshed, with better ideas and renewed energy and enthusiasm.

Your resolution C's

Staying in your comfort zone and parking your goals can be fine in times of stress or upheaval but be aware of how that 'zone' can gradually become smaller and start to reduce your ability to say 'yes' to new challenges and adventures. When you do say 'yes' it's often amazing how doors open, even for seemingly impossible goals.

Try something new everyday and become more aware of ways to regularly stretch yourself a little. Be receptive to opportunities; travel another route to work, try a different sandwich for lunch, invite a colleague out for a coffee. Simple things can keep your thinking flexible and receptive. Watch how your goals and resolutions then start to become easier to implement.

Compromise. Yes, you can have your cake and eat it, but sometimes a negotiation or compromise is required. For a time you may need to see your friends less frequently, go to bed a little earlier or make a few sacrifices. Goals may need some planning or readjustment to your thinking, but stick with the stepping-stones and enjoy the benefits that start to materialise.

Communicate regularly and include the people in your life. it's often the case that they then become a supportive part of your team, encouraging you along the way. Your goals and resolutions may even become a part of their mindset too.

Enjoy each opportunity to set goals and resolutions that improve the quality of your life. It's never too late to determine what you want, think it through and get started. Remember, today's not a dress rehearsal!

Goal Settings: How To Set Goals You Can Achieve

Red 3 Dart Pin on Black Green and Yellow Dartboard

If you want to set goals you can achieve, do not focus on them. It seems that these words go against everything that is ever said about goals. A lot of people are talking about the power of setting goals but not many about how to achieve them. Yet, it is a fundamental key to an all lifelong success plan.
So how can you set goals? How can you achieve them? What can you do today, tomorrow or this week that will get you closer to your goals? And what is the power of goal setting?

The challenge, of course, is that we hear about setting goals so often that we tend to take it just a little bit for granted. When you get yourself to a point where you have heard it so many times, you act like you know all about it. But you need to be careful not to get caught in that trap called the law of familiarity. It is the place where you get so used to it.

The prevailing thought is to think about what you want to do. Then, you set goals, write them down, stay focused on them and go forward. You check your list over and over again, come back to it, adjust it, and that is how you achieve your goals. But I believe it is not the way goals should be attained.

Some people even do it once a year, when they make a New Year resolution. They set goals, and they do forget it until a year later. These people usually have no power. They take the power of goals too lightly which brings us to some basics.

You have to realize you have to practice the fundamentals daily. Think about the great coaches in sports history for example. They often teach the basics to people that are already the best at what they do. These top trainers make them go through the fundamentals over and over again, hundreds of time, day after day until they can do it at a crucial moment.

Back to Basics
Should I remind you about Mr. Miyagi in "Karate Kid" with his wax on wax off? When you set goals, you have to go back and go through the basics every day. So that when you do it again, you understand how to do it even more efficiently.

"Repetition is the mother of all skills" - Tony Robbins
If you want to reach your set goals, you have to master your skills. The reason being is that along with your journey, you make new distinctions, set new goals or even change them. So do not think for a second that you already know how to achieve them.

The bottom line often is that most people do not have a clearly defined set of objectives anyway. You need to go from the frame of mastering simple things over and over to achieve set goals. So, you have to break through the bonds of the past and look in a whole new way where you understand that you have to do whatever it takes and not be bored by basics.

Setting Goals is Powerful
Why do we need to set goals and use them? Are they important? The answer is that when you set objectives for yourself, you create the future in advance. You form your destiny and shape your life. Whether we know it or not, we all have goals.

As a result, know that your goals are affecting you. The problem is that some people have lousy goals. Those get you through the day, the week, the month or help you pay the bills but are not the kind of objectives that inspire you or make you jump out of bed in the morning. These goals do not create the drive you need to achieve something greater.

You must realize that very few people have a particular plan or even written goals. So, when you set goals, I mean real aims, you can create the power to grow, develop and expand your success. You must have something out there that is compelling enough to draw you forth and transform your life.

Reflection Time to Set Goals
Next, you have to know why you set goals, why you are doing it, and what you are moving towards. The reason being is that if you do not, you won't get the most out of yourself. You have to take time to reflect so that you can set goals. It does not matter if you reflect for days; what is important is that you do it.

Then, take two or three days to design plans and how you can achieve them. You have to set goals that are well beyond your current ability or skill. It does not matter if you have yet no idea on how to make them happen. You simply have to operate from a principle that is talked about all over the world, regardless of what you believe.

Woman Jumping on Seashore and Holding Hat

It is a common law which is the power of absolute belief and faith. If you can get inspired enough and find a goal that is exciting enough, you can figure out a way to make it happen. Even if right now it seems impossible, you can pull it off.

Set Goals in Every Area of Life
You have to set goals for yourself in every area of your life. Set them personally, emotionally, socially, physically and financially. Create an ultimate aim and what you want right now. You need objectives on who you want to be, how much happiness or passion you desire, and how you want to live every single day.

No matter the pages it could take, you should describe everything in detail, even the person of your dreams. And yes, you might create a lot of limitations or absurd goals, but if after reviewing those, your goals still make sense to you, you should believe in their realization. You have to design your own road map necessary for success.

Now you have to implement them. Of course, some of your goals will not work out, but you can achieve most of your set goals. A massive change will occur as you follow through. Your level of confidence will boost, and your faith, as well as your abilities, will change radically.

Behaviors vs. Focus for Set Goals
You need to realize that when you set goals for yourself, they are outside of your control, so if you spend too much time focusing on your goals, you never achieve them. By contrast, if you focus on your behaviors rather than your goals, then you can achieve your objectives.

You alone can see to your behaviors. They are what you can control. So, you have to ignore the part of your goals that you cannot influence and focus on the part that is in your control which is behaviors. Once you focus on your actions, day after day, you begin to learn all the information you need to reach your set goals.

When you visualize your goal as already achieved, it puts you in a position where you can focus on a plan to make it. Behaviors are short term based when we set goals; it is usually seven days. So you have to think about what you can do today, tomorrow and this week, write them down and go for it.

The Define Precision of Goals
You should act with intelligence because what is real today is based on your past, on your previous experiences. So if you limit your future based on your past, you won't go anywhere. You need to set goals that are big enough to drive you. So do not stop and go "How do I do it?"

It is not the first step. The initial phase is getting it all written down, and if you do that, you can create and shape your own paradise, whatever you choose to create. It starts with a simple process of taking these generalized dream impulses and then to define them with more precision.

That is the power of goal setting. There is something beyond just what you understand of writing something down. Something happens! You become a creator when you set goals and put them down on paper. You get a clear vision while you can make them happen.

Therefore, you need to ensure that you not only set goals, but you get entirely clear why you want them. it is a fact that there is a fundamental core in goal-setting that can change your life and the answer is that purpose is stronger than the outcome.

The Motivation behind Set Goals
The meaning of it is that the purpose of goals is not so you get things but rather of what they will make of you as a person. I am in the phase of realizing that right now. Most people set goals blindly. They desire and focus on material things. And there is nothing wrong with that; I want you to have as many things as you want because that is part of life too.

It is part of the manifestation process of creating results when you set goals. But if all you do is to focus on getting things, it may cost you your integrity of who you want to be, of what you want to create in your life. So you got to be careful!

A Final Word when You Set Goals
In conclusion, make sure that when you set a goal, you know why you are doing it. Making money motivates only so much, but becoming a person who can manifest abundance financially and physically for themselves and the people around them is rather more fulfilling. Having the freedom that money can give or have the ability to give or help others by paying it forward usually motivates more than just anything else.

So when you set goals, do not take them for granted. Focus on what you can control and let the universe take care of the rest. Do act on your intentions seriously and consistently to achieve them. I know you can go well beyond what you can dream of, I believe in you!

The Difference Between a Trait and a Habit

A "Habit" is a usual way of behaving. It is the starting point for all behaviors. All Traits, at conception, are habits. Habits are usually born out of necessity (we have to obtain a goal), or a desire (We wish to obtain a goal).

Most of the times, negative traits come as a result of necessity, not desire. Sometimes, however, using a negative trait when approaching a desire itself becomes a negative trait.

As we grow up, we encounter situations and circumstances that are new to us. Since we have no point of reference (information we gathered from past experience which helps us deal with these events), we are left with two basic choices.

Choice A- We seek advice.
We turn to those around us for guidance. Preferably someone who encountered a similar situation and handled it before. Our goal at this point is to try to use their point of reference in order to handle our situation. When we decide to follow that advice, if successful, their point of reference becomes ours. After a while, a habit has been created. A way in which to handle future similar situations.

The one thing you have to keep in mind when using this option is the following quote...

"Insanity, doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results."
Albert Einstein

When this option is chosen, remember that you are, in essence, creating a habit that will, in time, become a trait. Make sure that your definition and the other person's definition of "success "is the same one. Your goal is to solve the situation. Not avoid it.

Choice B- We use Trial and Error method.
This method involves searching and using different ways in order to handle the situation. There is, however, correct way and an incorrect way of using this option. The correct way to remain goal oriented. In Transformational Support, this method is commonly referred to as the "Focus, Research and Action" method (FRA).

What this enables you to do is to remain encouraged, focused and determined until the situation is resolved. The goal is not only to obtain a useful point of reference but also to keep you from creating negative habits such as..
A- Covering up the issue
B-Pretending the issue will go away by itself
C-Running away from the issue
D-A combination of two or more of these.

These habits have a great potential of becoming negative habits (a usual way of behaving that results in a negative outcome). Shortly after that, they can become negative traits (A quality that separates a person from another person and usually has a negative outcome).

The specific type of habit we create (negative or Positive), will mature into a Negative or Positive Trait. Once this happens, and a trait is created, the trait has to be broken down to a habit first before replacing it with a better habit.

That being said, I must tell you that changing habits is faster and simpler than changing traits. However, most people seem to be under the impression that changing a trait is much more difficult than it actually is. Changing a habit or a trait is not easy but it is not that difficult either.

Of course, depending on the nature of the habit or the trait, the amount of time it takes to change it may vary. But not the amount of effort. In other words, what changes is your consistency (the amount of time you stay dedicate to changing a trait or habit), not how hard you work at it.

All traits are Habits at birth. Learning how to change them depends on how much we know about them.
