Steps to Develop More Discipline

At some point in life, every person will feel the effects of a lack of self-discipline. It is a challenging goal to conquer, but anyone can develop more discipline. There will be set-backs along the way, but establishing good self-discipline is an important step for your personal development.

1. You are human

Don't forget that you are a human being. You will make mistakes, it is only natural. People start learning by trial and error in infancy-adult learning is often no different. The goal here is to learn from your mistakes and not keep repeating the same error time and time again. If you mess up one day, don't give up and don't beat yourself up. Just start fresh the next day.

2. Set attainable goals

Nothing kills a plan faster feeling like it's impossible to get anywhere. It's not conducive to your personal development to set the bar too high at first. If you currently don't exercise at all, a goal of walking three times a week is a nice, attainable goal. You are not going to go from being sedentary to running marathons overnight. Remember to keep your goals in check with your abilities. If you set the bar too high at first, you will burn out and give up. Set yourself up for success by keeping your goals within your abilities.

3. Reward yourself

When you reach a goal, go ahead and reward yourself. If you walk three times this week, allow yourself to splurge on a night out with friends. When goal achievement goes unrewarded, we have a tendency to stop moving forward. Everybody needs to feel like they got a "win" sometimes. When you attain a goal, reward yourself. You are worth it.

4. Use your time effectively

Time is a precious commodity-treat it as such. When you get wrapped up in a task, you sacrifice time elsewhere. Creating a schedule for your day can help to eliminate situations where you feel like you worked all day, yet accomplished nothing.

5. Schedule fun time

Often we get so wrapped up in everything we have to do that we forget about doing what we want to do. The stress of everyday life can feel crushing some days. It is so important to schedule time in your day for something you enjoy. Without this release, you are setting yourself up to burn out. Burn out can kill any self-discipline progress you have made. Scheduling a few minutes each day for enjoyable activities is not only fun, it's essential to your mental health.

With these simple steps even the most disorganized person can achieve some self-discipline. Take charge of your life today!

Goal Setting Tips: The Importance of Personal Goals

Scenic Photo Of Pathway During Daytime

Setting your new goals for a fantastic new year.
Surprisingly Many business owners do not review the success of their year or even set goals to succeed in the new year. Do not let this be you and it is nt too late to not only set some goals for a fabulous period, but have some tips on how others are doing this more successfully.

Here are some excellent ideas on the topic of how to establish goals for any upcoming period or annual goal setting:

  • It is important to actually write them down with a pen or pencil rather than record them in electronic format.
  • Use a pretty and special book. Small enough and easy enough to carry with you on the journey of the year ahead.
  • Tick off what you have achieved as you go through the year
  • Keep a little list of things to do under each of your goals. Having a list makes you more productive and you do not waste time thinking about what you have to do next.
  • Pick a theme for success for the year such as "the year of making it as a $1M turnover business" or a non business goal such as "the year of returning to my ideal weight".
  • Do not set too many goals, keep it to just what you really want.
  • Sharpen the saw before you start cutting. So get strategic on a goal rather than rushing in without a plan.
  • Clarify and crystalise what you really want to achieve and how you want to do it. Have the specific ways you are going to achieve all your goals. Put more time into the weakest areas, but exploit your strengths as well.
  • Create a board with images of where you dream to be.
  • Have immediate as well and long term goals.
  • Make it a plan to spend more time on areas of your life that are getting less results. But at the same time do not weaken your strengths as well.
  • Use a weekly to do list with specific actions that you believe will take you towards yours overall goals.
  • Keep your goals and dreams to yourself or at least only share with someone you know well that will not deter you or distract you.

Balance you life between relationships, work, health, wealth, friends
Use you own words for your goals and dreams not someone else's and set your own standards.

How to Channel Anger Within & Be Massively Productive

Man Inside Gym

Anger, desire for revenge and rage are very strong emotions. These emotions, if used for bad, can do harm and cause damage in your life on a multitude of levels. After all, "holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die" (Buddha). However, since these emotions are so powerful and full of energy, if channeled toward goals, dreams and the greater good, can soar you toward success.

Here Are 3 Ways to Take Your Anger Within & Be Massively Productive

Refocus Back To you

When we are raging mad at someone who hurt us, we spend our days and nights ruminating on that person and everything they did to hurt us. The focus is on them. Instead, shift the focus back to you. Take a step back and think about what you want out of your life. Set goals for yourself and begin taking steps to achieve those goals right away, today. The motivation and energy you can muster up in a body full of adrenaline can be intense and can propel you forward. Forget baby steps, this anger channeled toward being productive instead of vengeful can send you leaping toward your goals.

Get Physical

Now, more than ever, is a time where you need to feel sexy, handsome, beautiful and full of life. Nothing can make you feel as confident in your own skin like physical activity. Exercise allows you to minimize negative emotions and release endorphins (those feel-good neurotransmitters). Take the power of anger to run faster and lift more weight. As you work out, imagine your body transforming into what you want it to become. Exercise can also reduce stress, so that when you leave the gym, you are more mentally clear to make strong, solid decisions in a time that might be chaotic and upsetting.

Learn More About Yourself

During a time of anger and rage a man/woman shows their true character. It is how you handle these strong emotions that shows your true colors and level of integrity. It is okay to be angry, it is a normal emotion but the key is how you release that emotion and what you can take from a trying time in life. To really gain self-awareness, journal. You can say all those nasty things you want to say, in your journal. In your journal, you can voice all your concerns and even how pains in your past might be coming out now in your adult years. Write about your emotions, decisions and thoughts. Writing things out does two things at the very least. First, it allows you to vent and get emotions out safely. This can help minimize nightmares and panic attacks that can stem from a buildup of emotions. Second, it allows you to note patterns of thoughts and behaviors. Eventually, this pain and these emotions will pass. You can then look back at your writings and note patterns and better understand what led you to certain emotions, actions and reactions. You can use your past journal entries as a tool to help you be more self-aware in the present and to help you react differently moving forward.

What Is Creativity Coaching? (By Taisir El-Souessi)

Man Wearing Black Hoodie Standing on Concrete Pavement at Night

You've probably heard of coaching; life coaching, career coaching, executive coaching... the list goes on. In a general sense, a coach is a professional that can help you develop a fresh perspective, problem solve, set goals and support you as you work toward reaching those goals. So what's a Creativity Coach and why would anyone need one?

Many people think of themselves as not being creative or they put limits on their creativity. You may be one of these people. You might think there isn't a creative bone in your body. You may think that you are creative at work or in other specific areas but not as an "artist" or a "writer." You may be a professional artist, performer or writer who has times that you "get stuck" and can't seem to find inspiration or discipline. Basically ANYONE could benefit from this type of personal growth work because MOST OF US have had experiences that may in some way make it hard for us to create.

What can a Creativity Coach do for you?

A Creativity Coach does some of the basic coaching things I described above but also much more. They can help you with multiple aspects of your creative life or lack thereof. Blocks in creativity can be related to a variety of issues that are practical, emotional, existential and psychological. A coach can help you figure out where to get started or support you in working on issues of confidence that may be stopping you from achieving your goals such as writing that novel or performing on stage. A coach in this line of work typically has some type of experience in the creative arts and understands the difficulties that can arise during the creative process.

Why did I decide to become a Creativity Coach?

I believe that the arts (drawing, music, dance, etc.) are the language of our deepest human connection. They help us tap into the healing that is within all of us. You are an artist. You are a poet. You are a singer. You are a dancer. I believe you were at birth. What happened? Maybe you've been able to hold onto it and flourish in your creativity but sometimes you hit roadblocks and need some support to get going again. Maybe you feel your "creative self" was stolen from you by circumstance or life experience but you want it back. Maybe you feel like no one ever tended that garden but you know there are seeds buried under there that can grow and flourish with some help.

I've been there. This field is important to me because I've seen others flourish through arts exploration and I've had profound personal experiences myself, but I hear from many people that they are not creative or they don't know how to unlock that creativity. Working with a Creativity Coach can help create movement in these areas.

What can you expect from Creativity Coaching?

  • identifying and developing creativity goals
  • formulating plans that build on your skills
  • holding you accountable for making progress
  • supporting and encouraging your success
  • increase abilities in personal expression
  • utilizing arts modalities to gain personal insights
  • deeper personal exploration through the arts
  • work toward healing unresolved "old pains"

EXAMPLES

"I'd love to paint or draw but I'm just not creative and I don't know how to get started."

This person could use some help making plans for getting started and work on those negative thoughts that are sending them the message that they're not creative.

"I'm not sure where this fear about painting is coming from, maybe because my parents always told me it was a waste of time."

This person could use some support to heal from these old wounds about not being good enough or their creativity being a waste of time.

Thanks for reading!

Why Do You Suppose That So Many People Never Achieve Their Goals in Life?

Why do you suppose that so many people never achieve their goals in life?

The reason...

Because they never set goals or lack the motivation to take action.

Researchers found, that only one in five Americans who reach the age of 65 don't depend on Social Security. Some people who do depend on social security include high-paying professions like doctors and lawyers.

Life is full of distractions, chaos and stress, leaving little time for most people to plan for the future. We work during the week and then spend our hard earned salary on the weekends. If you reflect, you may feel that you have wasted in money on items you don't need, there is also the additional tiredness and loss of time from waiting in queues.

The weekend has gone, we are poorer and we are not relaxed.

You arrive into work on Monday morning, tired and stressed. You feel you need to look for another job, as you need more money to cover overspending. We don't stop and plan or set goals, instead we hit the job sites looking for that 'golden egg.'

What a great waste of a powerful, natural resource - the human mind.

Would it not be better to stop being a human 'doing' and be a human 'being'? Taking time out to relax and regain control of your life.

Author of Psycho Cybernetics, Dr. Maxwell Maltz, says that once you set a goal your mind becomes more focused. Focusing will open your mind up to opportunities you may have normally missed. Your mind makes corrections so that you can stay on target. The more specific the goal is, the better the corrections are and more opportunities appear.

A point to remember, our brains can't tell the difference between a real event that really took place and one that we imagined. So, if your goal is clear and firm, your brain will act as if it's been achieved.

When did you last buy another car? You picked it up from the Dealership. You feel like a kid with a new toy, it's a great feeling.

You're focused fully on your new purchase, your mind's recording all your thoughts and feelings.

What happens next??

The whole world's driving your car!

Goal Setting

Take the time now to write a goal statement. Write it in the first person, using pronouns like "I," "my," "mine," and "me." Keep your goal statements short and to the point. Be emphatic. Be positive. For instance, "Today, I am improving my self-esteem with positive statements and positive actions."

Remember the more specific you make your goals, the better your chance to achieve them. These following techniques may be helpful to you...

• Begin with your top level goals, those that are important.

• Break the top level goals into sub goals. These will build your long-range goals.

• Start with sub goals and set a timescale, such as a week or a month.

• Long-term goal timescale could be six months, one year, or five years.

• Using e a specific timeframe, it helps you measure your success.

• Set goals that inspire you, but that are also realistic and achievable. Set a series of goals so that you are going step-by-step. That way, it easier to adjust them as needed.

• Making goals manageable helps with your confidence and motivation.

• Share your goals with an individual or group who might have similar goals. It's great reinforcement.

• Celebrate achievement of your goals with rewards.

• Keep your goals somewhere where you can access them easily.

• Guard your goals. Don't share them with negative people who probably won't encourage you. Share them with positive people who you know well and will support.

Don't' wait until you're 65. Why don't you start making use of it today?

Goal setting does require work, it's a powerful and easy way to help you achieve want you want in life.

Take away

Start by listing down what you want in life.

Write goals down, buy a note book.

Think about SMART objectives -

Specific - avoid 'I want more money'. Be specific 'I want to earn £50000 per year.

Measureable - How will you know you're in the right direction? How do you want to earn the £50K.

Agreed - Is it achievable

Realistic - Is it relevant.

Time - what is your timescale and how will you track progress.

You Are The Secret To Your Own Prosperity

In truth, you are the secret to your own prosperity, but to realize it, you have to understand a fact: life has strange ways. If you took all the money in the world, divided it equally among everybody, it would soon all be back in the same pockets as it was before it was shared. So how can you change the odds?
Could you change the cards you have been dealt with? How can you transform it? What should you do? Is it possible?

Most people struggle with personal growth and self-improvement as it is challenging lifetime pursuit. It is hard for people to give up their blame list because it is always easier to blame things or circumstances around them than oneself. And making a transition is often hard for anyone to do.

You have to realize that it is not what happens that determine the major parts of your future because what happens, is going on for all of us. Rather, the key is what you do about it. So, to create your own prosperity, you have to start the process of change by doing something different.

Prosperity is something you attract, not something you pursue. Instead of going after it, you should work on yourself and success and wealth would soon follow. You have to set goals for yourself which are a thing no school, college or university teaches you.

The perspectives and thinking you adapt, shape your life, and when you change your perspective, you can create an immediate shift in your own prosperity, life and job or business. To create success in whatever endeavor, you must always look for ways to sharpen your outlook.

Change Yourself to Change Your Prosperity

Since you cannot change your circumstances to get your ideal of prosperity, you have to begin doing things differently with the same conditions. You need to transform yourself and what you do. Learn to take responsibility instead of putting it on someone else.

I know it is a challenging mission, but if you change, everything will change for you. You do not have to alter your outer personality, but rather your inner nature. Do not wish for things to get easier, wish for you to become better. You have to want the desire for more skills, not fewer problems.

"To have more, you have simply to become more" - Jim Rohn
If you begin working on yourself and making all these changes, prosperity will change for you. To have better, you need to get better. It is a simple formula and yet, many struggles with it. You should be able to figure out where the problems are to work on them.

Increase Your Value to Increase Your Prosperity

Prosperity includes many benefits but one often comes out more than others, and it is 'finances.' The key to understanding economics is that you get paid for bringing value to the marketplace, also described as the real world. It takes time to provide value to this market, but you have to realize that you do not get paid for time.

Let's say you make twenty dollars an hour, well, it is somewhat not true because if it was, you could just stay home and get your money. So you do not get paid for the hours, but for the value, you put in the time you use.

It is a great psychological prosperity trait which I have read, heard and learned from the business thinker, Jim Rohn. So is it possible for you to become two or three times as valuable as you now are, and make two or three times as much money within the same time?

Of course, it is, and yet, this code of belief goes against the mold of what schools teach, or how most of us are raised, and what media depicts to the general public. So to build your own prosperity, you have to increase your value, it is that simple. And if you do understand this great attitude and apply it to your life, you will improve, develop and ripen a considerable benefit over those who do not.

Improve Your Skills to Improve Your Success

People often do not do much to upgrade their skills or value but rather blame the economy, their job or the state of their scarcity of income. If somebody is happy for making minimum wage, then they will always remain at the bottom because it is the value they are bringing into the market place.

It is a pitiful way to live! Start something and not grow, change or become more valuable. Why does someone get one million dollars a year while others make only fifty thousand? Well, it is quite simple. That person has become more valuable to the marketplace than the other.

Of course, I must make a distinction. The one who has a low revenue might be a good relative, friend, or member of the community which is a different kind of prosperity. It is a fact that if you do not improve your skills to develop your value, your success and prosperity level will remain the same.

That is why wealthy and prosperous people get paid so much, but I have great news for you: it has become an equal playing ground. Nowadays, information is accessible and free almost everywhere. So it is up to you to decide how valuable you want to become, what is your definition of prosperity and how much you want to pay forward to others. Quite simple, isn't it?

Turn Your Life Around to Better Your Prosperity

Do not wait for a raise as it is easier to climb the ladder. To be able to prosper, you must continually discover ways become more valuable. You have to create your own prosperity by sharpening your skills, learning better methods through resources and always trying to better yourself.

When you want more money, you have to earn it by bringing more value to your job, business or customers. You have the ability to create more prosperity and happiness if you do understand this small step. You can always turn your life around to better your wealth.

"Learn to work harder on yourself than you do on your job. If you work hard on your job, you can make a living, but if you work hard on yourself, you'll make a fortune." - Jim Rohn
You need to work on yourself. Strive to become a better person. Be different instead of comparing yourself to others. How can you become more valuable and change your prosperity? By learning new things, improve on stuff you know and be better at everything you do.

Tips to Offer More Value and Increase Prosperity

Do something that provides more value for you to change your current income level. Here are some tips to increase your prosperity and bring you value so you can get better than others.

  • Learn to work harder on yourself than on your job.
  • Be an expert by choosing a specialized area. Study your trade and learn from others.
  • Become efficient by learning how you get done what needs to get done.
  • Have an awareness of knowing your strong points and what you are best at doing.
  • Be productive in knowing what and how much you get done to increase prosperity.
  • Get a vision by having something you see that others do not, like a bigger picture.
  • Create a mastermind by surrounding yourself with people you can learn from to get more value.
  • Get a good reputation through what others know and think about you.
  • Become an influence by persuading others to get things done.
  • Acquire a popularity status by understanding how well your colleagues or audience see you.
  • Have a great personality by treating others as well as how you want to them to treat you.
  • Get the right attitude to grow your prosperity by taking care of yourself and others.

If you work harder on yourself than on your job, then there will be no limits to your prosperity and success in whatever you do. It is time for you to take responsibility for your financial well-being. So, commit now to become more valuable and better your own prosperity. Remember you are in control regardless of the external circumstances surrounding you.

Choose Your Affirmations

Write it down. Take a piece of paper, a few hours of your time, and write it all down - as an affirmation of you, your life, and your ability to choose. Then let it go. Melody Beattie

Sometimes positive affirmations are no match for the overwhelming emotions that many of us can be feeling. We try to be disciplined and write them every day, only to begin to feel that they really are not creating the desired outcome. Yet we know that many successful people affirm the process and even go so far as to demonstrate how they have created the manifestation desired.

Doctor Joe Pace, a recognized performance psychologist, in his video 'Affirm Your Way to Success' talks about how to use Reticular Activity System (RAS) within our brains to help attract the things and experiences we want in our lives. He also gives us an understanding of how we can actually help them show up more often using tools like affirmations.

Some of the key take-aways from the video can be don't give up too quickly on your affirmations and be more mindful of events that are being delivered up to achieve your goals. If you need a check list of activities you can do to enhance your success with affirmations and to reduce the self-talk negative cycle, consider some of the following suggestions...

1. Personal: Ideally, affirmations are written with the word "I" in them. You can only affirm for yourself. The desired change will come about because of something you do, and it is your own inner picture that will change because of your affirmation. This is why we encourage your goals to have action steps, otherwise they appear to be only wishes.

2. Positive: Always describe what you want in your affirmation. Describe what you want to move toward, not what you want to move away from. Checking your mind chatter and negative thoughts is an important first step.

3. Present Tense: Affirmations are written as though they are happening right now. This requires using your imagination and becomes easier with practice. This present tense also helps you break down your affirmation and goals into smaller bits attached to what is really possible.

4. Indicate Achievement: Eliminate words such as, "can, will, should, and want to" etc., from your affirmations. Include phrases such as, "I am, I do, or I have." It is important to give your subconscious a clear picture of the end result as though it is already accomplished. If the achievement is too big for the mind to consider all at once, try describing your goal in increments to make it achievable in your own mind.

5. No Comparisons: Comparing yourself to others is ineffective. The technique of affirming is a personal process. Your measurement of growth is based on yourself. So affirming that you will be number one suggests comparison and may need rewording so that it is your goal.

6. Action Words: Use terms that describe and trigger action pictures, such as "easily, quickly, thrive on, energetically, confidently," in your affirmations.

7. Emotion Words: These are of critical importance. The more positive emotion you feel when picturing your accomplished goal, the faster your affirmation will work for you. It has also been suggested that physical pictures supporting the affirmation help with the emotion and visualization.

8. Accuracy: If an affirmation is written in general terms, the picture may be too vague, and it gives you too many escape routes. For example; if your goal is to exercise regularly, what kind of exercise? Is it jogging, walking, swimming, aerobics, or something else? How regularly? Three times a week? If so, on what days? What time of day and for how long? This is how accurate your affirmations must be.

9. Balance: Set goals, and write affirmations in all areas of your life. You never know if a goal around mental health or physical health can somehow create the synchronicity of the financial goal.

10. Realistic: After you have written your affirmation, close your eyes and picture it. Can you see yourself there? You need to be able to see it, visualize it, and imagine it. So if you want the 2.5 million dollar house in a warm destination, try the $300.0K house first and sell it profitability to then keep moving up the housing market to the $2.5 million dollar property.

11. Confidential: Most of your personal affirmations need not be shared. Share your affirmations only with those you are certain will support and help you achieve them. These are personal and do not need judgement by those that may want you to play small with your dreams and goals. Research seems to support that people who use affirmations successfully manage to bypass their conscious mind so it doesn't reject the new thought. The subconscious mind gets programmed with repetition. So, if you keep at affirmations, eventually the awkwardness stops. These people also keep up with the process and are mindful of negative self-chatter, as well as the synchronicity of events building to our accomplishing our goals.

How To Simplify Your Life With Gratitude

Simplifying increases your gratitude. And more gratitude makes you want to simplify even further. Why? Here's a few reasons why it works in life.

#1 It keeps you focused on what you have, not what you want
It's easy to focus on what we want. After all, we are told to set goals and strive to get what we want. But there's a lot to be said for appreciating what you have and where you are in your life!

When you simplify, you have more time to appreciate the little things in life-a child's laughter, the sunset, and even a decadent dessert! Having and doing less makes it so much easier to appreciate what you already have.

#2 It reminds you that the best things in life aren't things
We've been conditioned to buy, buy and buy. We've come to believe expensive things and having a lot of stuff are what everyone is striving for.

But image the simple joy of coming home each day to a streamlined evening route, pre-planned meal, and a clutter-free house! Getting rid of all the extra, unnecessary stuff gives you the time and energy to enjoy the simple things in daily life.

#3 It helps you see how much you already have
In the West, we often take for granted how lucky and abundant we really are. Most people around the world survive on a few dollars a week, while we think we are destitute if we can't get the latest iPhone! But if you really think about what you need, you probably already have it.

Do you have a safe, warm place to come home to? Do you have an income, even if it's not as large as you'd like? Is there going to be food for the whole family to enjoy today? When we pare down our busyness and take a look at what we have, we can start to realize how blessed we truly already are.

#4 It makes you think about those who have very little
When you de-clutter, it feels amazing to donate your stuff, knowing that it's going to go to someone who needs it and will truly appreciate it. If you are finding it challenging to donate things because they are still good or it feels wasteful, think about the homeless person, for example, who will end up with a warm coat this winter... thanks to you.

If you are still having trouble, spend some time finding places to donate that are close to your heart, like animal shelters, veteran organizations or a local domestic violence shelter. When you compare what you still have to what they do, you will feel instantly grateful and generous.

Achieve Success: How To Achieve Success In Anything You Do

If you are wanting financial freedom, I specialize in helping people financially in all respects and I'm glad you found my work. The same key components that are required to achieve financial freedom are the same ones you can use to achieve success in anything else! Doing these things aren't very difficult to do and they aren't a huge mystery. However, they are often not the first thing that comes to your mind when you wake up every morning. Therefore, you may simply just not know what to do or the steps to take to get where you want to be in life.

1. Set Goals - This tip I'm sure you have heard before but maybe didn't quite understand how to do it or the importance of it. Ask anybody that has achieved their desired level of success and they will tell you the same. This is important! Don't just set these goals in your head and then continue with your everyday life. Take some time, sit down, grab a piece of paper and something to write with and write these goals big and bold!

2. Surround Yourself With Successful People - Sneezing and sickness are both contagious. Something else that's contagious is Success! Surround yourself around other like-minded successful or wanting to be successful people and you will notice a change in your mentality and perspective. If you are bent on becoming rich for example, you don't want to surround yourself with broke possibly negative people. Don't get me wrong, all I am saying is a bunch of people in which don't have a decent income, do so by choice! So surround yourself with ones that chose to be successful and get more for themselves!

3. Take Risk - People that want to achieve any type of success will have to be willing to take a little bit of risk. That's true in terms of financially, relationships, the list goes on and on. If your marriage is crumbling and your goal is to see it succeed, well you may have to take the risk of your boss getting mad at you or you getting in any amount or work-related trouble if you need to stay home for the day when it all hits the fan. Take the risk! It will be worth it in the end!

As mentioned before, all of these steps will help you achieve success in anything you do. They can all relate to whatever it is you're trying to achieve success in! Be sure to try them out and commit yourself to them before disbelieving me. Another tip to be successful is to have an open mind. Close-minded people don't get very far with anything, so don't be one of those! The more you do these things as well, the easier it will get! Setting goals and writing them all down on a piece of paper may be a pain at first, but it will get easier and you may even begin liking it after a few times!

The Road to Achievement - How to Make Vision Boards

Vision boards are the leading tool for maintaining motivation and achieving personal goals. This new-age miracle will transform your life, enabling you to focus on taking action and fulfilling your wildest dreams. There are several steps that are necessary to make a vision board whether you are creating one that is either physical or digital. These steps are the following:

Setting Specific, Measureable, Achievable, Realistic, and Timely (SMART) Goals

Before spending time searching for images or pictures from magazines, the first step in making a vision board is to set some goals. These SMART goals should be measurable and include timelines to ensure accountability. For instance, if one is desiring to save money for a purchase such as a car, then the first step would be to set some goals towards savings and budgeting on a weekly and daily basis. The biggest question would also be: How long would one realistically need to save for the type of car in which he or she desires? Once that question has been answered, then he or she can begin formulating the rest of the SMART goal towards that specific desire.

Gathering Images or Pictures

This is the fun part! Step two requires that individuals collect their images and pictures so that they can use it later to create their vision board. It's important to monitor the time as individuals tend to spend great deals of time trying to determine which images would work. This is where individuals should revisit the goals that will guide them during creating their vision boards.

Adding Images or Pictures

The third step is where individuals will either physically cut, copy, and paste them on their physical vision board or save and upload to their digital board. Either way, they are able to use their creativity to bring their dreams to life.

Practicing Visualization on a Daily Basis

The last step is to practice visualizing having those things that they truly desire. This can be done in a prayer meditation or other form of mindfulness. It's something that should be at least once a day or several times day. Whatever strikes your fancy!

The bottom line is that a vision board is the pathway to getting exactly what your heart desires. So, what are you waiting for-Manifest Your Dreams.

How to Make Dreams Come True - 10 Practical Ways

• OUTLINE YOUR SET GOALS: Not having a goal, is like driving without a destination, you will exhaust both yourself and the car too, hence to begin you need to have clearly defined goals, objectives that you want to achieve, when you have set goal(s) it as if you are driving towards a known destination.

• DON'T BE DISTRACTED: This world is filled with distractions and attractions. Do not underestimate the power of distraction, consider this: what do you think could happen to a driver who continues to look through his window while driving in the high way?

He may lose control, or may be hit by another vehicle, so when you are riding on the high way to reach your goal always avoid being distracted or attracted to anything that will slow down your pace or at worst stop you. Distractions can come in many ways; it can come in form of associations or individual habits.

• FINDING THE RIGHT ASSOCIATE: A good associate is like a co-pilot, he stays alert with you. Note that he is not a co driver but a co-pilot, this is because when a driver is tired he pulls over at the Conner of the road and rest but when a pilot is tired he does not even think of pulling over or parking he must reach his destination and hence both in his absence and presence a good co-pilots will provide the support needed.

So the need to associate with people having the same frame of mind cannot be over emphasised. Associating with people who are already where you want to be will make you live and behave as if you have achieved your goals.

• LIVE IN THE FUTURE: "To catch a monkey you need to act like a monkey" so says an African proverb, yes indeed you need to learn how to jump and dive. You need to start thinking everyday as if you have achieved goals and dreams.

• MAKE A LIST OF HUDDLES: After outlining your goals can you make also a list of things that can possibly stop you from achieving your goals. This is necessary because anyone who fights a battle without a well defined enemy might be in for an unusual surprise.

Hence outlining and understanding problems is the key to solving them. Outlining them will help you tackle them with the right weapon.

• WORK ON YOUR SET GOALS: Goals are not investment where you just put your money and watch it grow. It requires daily attention if it is to be attained, every work has tools which makes it possible to be done, for example if you are trapped in a dense jungle you may need a cutlass and a GPS in other to find your way home, selecting the right tools can help you achieve your dreams.

Imagine what could happen to a student who ought to write a biology exam but has been practicing only chemistry, it is necessary that one attain a level of balance in other to achieve his goals.

• BE HUMBLE AND DO NOT CREATE ENEMIES: If you defecate on the road while embarking on a journey, definitely you will meet flies while returning. Do not step on people while you climb your social ladder, this is so because successful people needs help like every other person.

"One thing is somersaulting another thing is landing properly "when you get to the top there is nowhere else to go except down, hence if ever you created enemies while climbing, these ones may get back at you when you slide a little bit off the top. They may even drag you down totally instead of helping you.

• BE PREPARED FOR UNFORESEEN OCCURRENCES: Many a men say: "I wish I could see tomorrow" hence do not expect everything to go as you have planned, unforeseen occurrences has been a constant part of the human history, hence preparing for it and knowing that it may happen not only helps you to deal with it but also makes you not to feel too disappointed when it happens and hence quit.

• USE YOUR PAST TO CREATE A BETTER FUTURE: A good driver will always consider his side mirror, not because he is driving backwards but because he wants to get a balance view of the road and understand how best to drive, likewise our pasts or mistakes should be used as warning examples and help us to create a good future,

• DON'T GIVE UP: It is as simple as that, yet very difficult. If you apply the above given suggestions it may be very difficult for you to quit and also if you know where you are headed problems will not make you quit, setbacks will only even make you even stronger.

Remember a the value of gold appreciates, only when it has been refined in a furnace, a good captain is made not on a calm sea but on a very rough sea.

Problems and difficulties can only make you stronger, SEE YOU AT YOUR GOAL.

Forget Excuses - Remember Self Motivation

The internet is a wonderful thing and since its introduction to the world it has created an abundance of money making opportunities for anyone looking to make an income from home.

A lot of individuals who have gone on to make substantial incomes from online businesses started with zero or limited knowledge of how to do so.

Today more than ever there are a good number of internet entrepreneurs and businesses offering genuine online business opportunities.

So with all these opportunities available why do only a handful of people succeed while the majority either give up or just move from opportunity to opportunity without ever getting close to success?

The reason most people fail is down to personal development, the need to identify and set goals, then be able to systemically carry them through to conclusion.

Add to this the ability to keep yourself motivated when things don't always go the way you planned and you find a cocktail of characteristics that the majority of us have to work hard to maintain.

Everyday when you wake, you have a very important choice to make...

You have to choose what to do with your time and the choice you make will determine whether by the end of the day you will be closer to where you want, or at the same point you where when you woke up that morning.

Too many people say they want to change their lives for the better, some even set goals and maybe have a small idea of what they need to do, but sadly the choice they make when they wake in the morning is the same one they have been making every day up to that point...

The point is your life will not change unless you take action...

None of your goals will be achieved unless you do something about them...

When I speak to people, I hear all kinds of excuses but the most common one by far is,..

I don't have the time!

I don't have the time... these five little words are by far the favourite excuse for many people to hide behind.

However, when I dig a little deeper and start asking some questions, I find that in the majority of cases a little lifestyle change here and there and a small sacrifice or two can free up the valuable hours you need to start making a difference to your lives.

It may come as no surprise that one of the biggest consumers of our time is television,

Latest stats tell us that the average Brit watches 24 hours of TV a week and the average American 30 hours a week!

24-30 hours A WEEK!

That's almost a full time job, even if you reduced your time watching TV by half that would free up 15 hours a week that could be better spent working on your goals and ambitions.

It's not just TV either plenty of time is wasted away on other activities, things like spending hours at the mall, going to pubs and bars, going to ball games/events, playing video games, reading newspapers/magazines, social media, procrastinating, browsing the internet for nothing in particular the list goes on.

None of the things on this list are vital to our everyday lives yet so many people are unwilling to give them up, even though they say they want to change their lives and their circumstances.

I'm not saying cut everything you enjoy out of your life...

I'm just saying if you really do want to make changes sometimes you have to make short term sacrifices in order to manage your time better and maybe even (for now) stop doing some of the things you would normally do in order to free up the time you need to make long term gains.

So lets assume you have decided to make some changes and you have managed to free up some extra hours during the week.

What do you do next?

After all you have just potentially given something up you really enjoy, something you have been doing for years.

How are you supposed to keep yourself moving forward and not revert back to the comfortable, TV watching procrastinator you were before we decided to make these changes?

Well the one thing you must have if you want to succeed is a daily shot of motivation, this is essential because if you are not motivated then it is very easy to slide back into the rut you have just pulled yourself out of.

It is especially important at the start that you get this daily shot until you build up the belief that what you are doing is working, until you can see everyday that you are getting closer to your goal and until the motivation comes without you having to search for it.

When you get to that point you will have a drive and determination that will be burning so deep inside you that you will not be able to ignore it, it will get to the stage where any obstacle that is put in your way will just be taken in your stride and you will feel like nothing can stop you from achieving what you set out to do.

So how do you get to that point? what do you need to do?

The first thing is have your goals written out in as much detail as possible and read these goals every morning as you wake and every evening before you retire, this will remind you of why you are making these changes to your life and instil some of the motivation you need to keep going.

The second thing is to make a mood board - A mood board is a visual representation of where you want to be in your life and is usually made up of images and text representing your ambitions and goals.

As with your goals make sure you look at this everyday and imagine yourself in as much detail as possible living the life your goals and mood board show.

The final thing is a daily affirmation, this is something you need to do by yourself.

Put aside 10 minutes during the day, turn off your mobile phone, the radio and the TV find yourself a quiet spot in a dimly lit or darkened room, sit down in a comfortable chair and relax.

Next repeat the following to yourself:

"I awake everyday feeling an insatiable drive and determination to succeed, I find it easy to motivate myself and I look forward with excitement to the things I will achieve during the coming day."

Close your eyes and clear your mind of any distracting thoughts, don't try to think of anything just let yourself relax for a minute or two, relax your body and let the tension drain away from your muscles.

It is not easy to do this at first so you may find it easier to concentrate on each individual body part, starting at your toes and working up until your whole body is relaxed.

With practice you will find this comes easier until you can almost do it without thinking.

Next start to count slowly in your head until you reach 20. When you do you should feel totally relaxed, almost trance-like. If any other distracting thoughts should pop into your head as you count, don't worry, clear your mind and start over.

When you are in this relaxed state concentrate on the statement you have just read, don't worry about knowing it all off by heart just repeat the key words to yourself.

Slowly return to your fully conscious state thinking as you do that you are feeling more relaxed more alert and more motivated than you were before.

The subconscious mind is a powerful thing and the whole point of this exercise is to instil these thoughts into your subconscious mind until they are accepted as fact and in doing so will become second nature to you.

You will notice that if you repeat this exercise on a regular daily basis you will start to see the results in no time at all. You will probably find that at first it is hard to get to the right level of deep relaxation but once you do start to master this consistently then the speed with which you achieve your desired effect will increase.

Cultivating Mental Toughness

"Concentration and mental toughness are the margins of victory", said Bill Russell. In fact, mental toughness is the most important ingredient that is very much necessary for achieving goals in life because during the course of your journey towards your life's goals, chances of you facing bumps are very high. Not only that, this trait will help you acquire resilience, determination and willpower so you can persist till you reach your goals.

Mental toughness gives you the ability and strength to push despite opposition and hurdles. So, it is imperative that you must try cultivating the trait. But before that, let us understand what we mean by mental toughness.

What is mental toughness?

Mental toughness can be described as the attribute that allows you to handle the difficulties you may face in your life. A few experts firmly restrict this attribute to the sports field. But a number of other experts believe that this attribute pervades every area of our life. Peter Clough and Dough Strycharczyk, researchers who authored the book "Developing Mental Toughness," says that this attribute is "the quality which determines in large part how people deal effectively with challenge, stressors, and pressure... irrespective of prevailing circumstances."

According to these researchers, this trait consists of a few critical components and they are challenge, control, commitment and confidence. As far as "challenge," the first component, is concerned, you must view challenges, not as obstacles, but as opportunities. The crux of "control," the second component, is to believe that you have complete control over your destiny and life.

Commitment is nothing but possessing the capabilities needed for sticking to tasks and ensuring to complete them regardless of the hurdles you may face. 'Confidence' is believing in your capabilities. Peter Clough and Dough Strycharczyk firmly say that mental toughness and the skills related to it apply to every area of life.

Researches prove that the attribute has a genetic link. At the same time, experts suggest that people can learn and strengthen their mental toughness as well. But how can you cultivate this trait?

1. Believe that you have the ability for achieving your goals

A study conducted in 2002 revealed that top performers and especially, elite athletes always possessed extreme self-belief. This means that they firmly believe that they can succeed. In other words, if you believe in yourself and keep encouraging yourself positively, you can achieve your goal regardless of what it is.

2. Prefer intrinsic motivations to external rewards

External rewards like popularity, money, etc. are certainly nice but intrinsic motivations are better because they come from the "within." This means you will love doing things just for doing them. When you love doing things, you will push harder and try to perform better. In fact, mentally tough people love doing things in which they are interested and their success in their tasks come from intrinsic motivations and not because of external rewards. This means that they love the challenges they may face while doing things and overcoming those challenges is the real reward for them.

3. Mentally tough people do not get upset when they encounter setbacks

Mentally tough people rebound even when they encounter setbacks and while doing so, they move ahead with stronger determination and resolve. They innovate to find out new ways for overcoming such phases.

4. They are self-directed

This means that they do not let things happen. Instead, they focus on creating the life they like to lead. They set goals and take appropriate action for going behind their goals and achieving them. In other words, they learn the process of setting goals and pursue the goals relentlessly.

5. They keep their focus even if there are distractions

Distractions are bound to be there in everyone's life but mentally tough people do not allow them to play spoil-sport to their focus. Remember that it is impossible to always have everything right. Even if other things need your attention, you must focus only on your goals and work towards achieving them.

6. They are committed

Commitment is a major ingredient that helps in cultivating mental toughness. Remember the words of Winston Churchill who said, "Success is not final, failure is not fatal: it is the courage to continue that counts." So, you should always remain committed to making the right efforts for achieving your goals.

5 Tips to Stay Positive During Recovery

Overall, the addiction recovery phase for drinking problems is quite a strenuous journey that demands immense will power to get back to a healthier life. It takes an individual's time and effort to stay sober and control cravings to stay away from alcohol and other addictive substances.

Moreover, one has to also overcome certain situations that tend to force a person to relapse to old drinking habits. In such, and similar other situations, it is essential to ensure that people stay strong and resolute against any obstacles that can digress them from their commitment to quit alcohol addiction.

As such, anyone trying to win the race against alcohol addiction can experience a relapse. Often, negative thinking becomes a major barrier in an individual's path toward recovery. Therefore, it is essential to ensure that the person stays away from any negative influences and remains positive while going through the recovery process.

Here are some simple ways by which a person can stay positive during the difficult phase of recovery:

  1. Stay happy: Overall, happiness is the key to success, even in the case of recovery from an alcohol addiction. This includes staying positive during the whole process. One should indulge in activities and hobbies that interest him or her. This will help the person remain joyful and stay in a better mood.
  2. Exercise regularly: Unlike the popular perception about exercise, it does not necessarily refer to undergoing activities that might exhaust a person completely. It can include a mix of things, including cycling, swimming, jogging, etc. In fact, other relaxation techniques like yoga and Zumba are also excellent ways to release endorphins, the mood-boosting neurotransmitters, in the body. Undoubtedly, physical activities by burning off excess calories and relieving stress, are an excellent way to stay happy.
  3. Communicate with loved ones: During the recovery process, effective communication with loved ones is essential to overcome emotional hurdles. Staying in touch with friends and family is important, as this will help a person in sharing his or her fears, doubts and uncertainties with his or her loved ones. It is also important to instill positivity and inspire the person to continue walking on the path of sobriety.
  4. Have patience: One should remember that sobriety can't be attained in a single day. It requires an individual to stay positive and firm on his or her decision to recover from alcohol addiction. A person should not consider the goal to be impossible and leave the path midway. Instead, he or she should stick firmly to his or her decision by enduring symptoms and undergoing the process patiently. It is important to always remember that though certain goals take time, once achieved they can change one's life completely. Therefore, appreciating even the smallest of achievements can help in staying motivated and positive.
  5. Set goals: A person under recovery should set certain attainable and realistic goals to stay motivated and inspired. It is equally important to ensure that the goals set by the person are well planned or broken into smaller achievable tasks to avoid any kind of overburden on him or her.

Quit alcohol to rediscover life
A person going through the process of recovery from an alcohol addiction should avoid going to places where it is easily available since it increases the risk of relapse. Staying happy is an excellent way to boost one's mental health and to ensure that he or she sticks to his or her goals to attain sobriety. Apart from these, it is also important to focus on self-help instead of seeking help from others to fasten the recovery process.

Ways to Improve Quality of Life - Improve Your Life With Long-Term Changes

There are qualities that we need to address to improve quality life. We all have these to some degree and must be cognizant of them so they do not take control of our life.

Fears change?

I have listed 4 qualities that we need to change. Once we will learn how to overcome these, surely we will obtain what we desire in life.

Enjoys Seeing Others Fail - There are individuals out there who enjoy seeing others fail. Some of the hide it well but instead of congratulating a person when they attain some form of success this individual deep down inside wishes that successful person falls flat on their face.

These feelings could stem from the individual having a narcissistic personality or some deep-rooted psychological problem. A successful person likes to see others achieve greatness as well, the more people who succeed the greater the wealth for everyone. This "evil eye" mentality may come back to haunt the person who enjoys seeing others fail.

In business and life if you help people they will help you at some point in time but if you kick a person when they are down you may find yourself in a similar predicament in the future so try to help individuals whenever possible. If you feel this way then seek out professional help, having this condition is not a character flaw but failing to get it treated is a sign of selfishness.

Irritable And Angry Most Of The Time - Everyone has a bad day here and there but if a person is constantly irritable that other people avoid them then that is a sign this particular individual is either in the wrong position or is dealing with internal challenges.

The reason a person gets angry is they feel like they are overwhelmed and out of control otherwise they wouldn't be angry. Unless the individual in question is suffering from withdrawal due to a drug addiction i.e. smoking cigarettes there is no reason for them to be irritable all the time.

This negativity can be toxic for your company, nobody wants to go near an individual who is constantly negative so if this sounds like you it may be time to look at your workload and maybe adopt some stress management exercises to keep the angst in check. We all get angry from time to time but it is how we deal with it that makes all the difference in the world.

Will Find Excuses And Blame Others For Failure - No one wants to fail, but we only fail if we stop trying. Whenever something happens that seems to be negative an individual with the wrong mindset will look for excuses why a particular project did not go according to plan.

Some of the excuses are "not enough time" "not enough money" "someone else dropped the ball" all of these excuses are nothing more than lies, the project did not go according to plan which does happen to the best of companies.

A successful person would say "you know what, this is what we did right and can implement and this is what didn't go according to plan and we can avoid in the future". By making you accountable to yourself and those around you will exude confidence and people respect that, no one likes a whiner and if a person constantly makes excuses they are essentially that a "whiner".

Does Not Set Goals - If you do not set goals in life how will you measure results? Not trying to be rude but if you do the same things day in and day out without willing to make goals and measure them then what is the point of living?

Please don't take this the wrong way but if you had a job and you went to work every day but did absolutely nothing your boss would fire you. You are the boss of your own life so if you are not doing anything to make your life better what kind of message are you making about yourself as a person?

I know you are scared, we have all been there but you only have one life to live so why not try something different, positive and see where it takes you, who knows where you will be but one thing we know is what you are doing now does not produce results so take the first step and try something new.

Erase these negative mindsets and embrace new things to improve your life with long-term changes. You do it for the better.

Where Is YOUR Focus?

This is such an important question that we need to continually ask ourselves on a daily and sometimes an hourly basis. Where is your FOCUS?

Are you achieving what you WANT to achieve? Is your life where you DESIRE it to be?

If you are not where you want to be, again I ask, where is your focus?

By focusing your mind you will determine everything that you are and that you can become. You are where you focus.

I believe if you are self-focused and self-absorbed on yourself you can never achieve the outcomes you want.

Put your mind onto others, supporting them to achieve their dreams and desires, and yours will be self-fulfilled automatically. Where your attention is your life will flow. So, if where you are is not where you want to be, change the direction of your attention NOW!

You may need to ask the question, 'What IS focus?' and rightly so for many.

For me it is the skill of concentrated thinking on a particular thing or task. To complete this thing or task, we need to hold our attention to whatever we need to do until we have completed what we set out to do or have in the first place.

We live in a world where there is so 'much noise' both internally and externally, that paying attention is difficult to maintain with all the distractions and setback that continually disrupt us. Our world of technology has made it harder for many to sustain the effort and energy necessary to reach our set goals. We get distracted by the ability to 'play' at the not important things (mobile, texting, messaging, emails, games, TV etc) and not concentrate on the subject that is important for achievement.

We live in a time when self-focus seems to be the 'age of now' and are creating self-absorbed people everywhere. We can't really grow, learn and experience if we are self-absorbed. We need to look outside ourselves and see where we can change what is holding us back from achieving what we really want from our life.

If you are finding that you are not moving forward and feel that the world is against you, you are SELF-ABSORBED! Life is too short to have regrets and every day that you do not accomplish something, is a day lost to you personally. So put your energy into what makes you grow and become who you need to become and then you can become happier within.

I suggest that whatever activity is your centre of interest, make it your focus of attention and see where it will take you. If you focus on what you love to do and experience, this is where you will find you get the greatest impact and sense of achievement. So find what you love and want and make it a lifestyle that will sustain you to fulfillment.

"Tell me to what you pay attention and I will tell you who you are." - Jose Ortega y Gasset

This is such a great saying and so very true. You are a product of your thoughts and actions. Where you pay attention is what you will become. Surround yourself with people who are smarter and have what you desire. You can only then create that as a result.
Knowing what is important to you and your progression throughout life is where your attention needs to be as long as it is not a negative focus on what you can't have at this time. It is essential to be looking forward into the future so setting goals can support you to plan the end-game.

When setting your goals make sure that they are ones that are specific, measureable, achievable, realistic, timely, emotionally charged and rewarded at the end of each stage of achievement. These are SMARTER goals. Appreciate every step of the way knowing that it is bringing you closer to your desired result. Make the goals CLEAR and PRECISE knowing a time frame that is achievable.

If your goals are SMARTER goals as mentioned above you can and will achieve them without being overwhelmed that can happen with not so good goal setting.

Write these down and keep them in front of you all the time so that your focus is put onto the goals continually. This will help you focus to move forward to what you really want. If possible, read the goals out at least once a day as a reminder to continue your movement forward.

A goal can be anything you want and desire. It may be personal or business. It could be something that has to be done so you plan for it, or a fun activity or project with steps that need to be in place to make it happen. It doesn't matter what it is, the stepping stones to reaching the goal is what is important, enjoying the process as you go.

Remember, the journey is often more important than the destination!

Our lives get so distracted these days so planning is important firstly and then creating and focusing on the completion in a timely matter is the next stage.

Remember that,

"Give whatever you are doing and whoever you are with the gift of your attention." - Jim Rohn
