20 Tips To Feel Way More Powerful & Confident

As we wander through life, we encounter many relationships — familial, social, romantic, professional — with people who impact our lives and our sense of self (often times, they affect us more than we expect).
Some relationships and situations make us feel strong, happy and supported, while others can make us feel insecure, weak, inadequate. Whether we like it or not, the way we process other people's behavior and react to us can make or break our sense of self-esteem at any given moment.
Have you ever had someone put you down and make you feel stripped of self-worth? Of course, levels of criticism vary, as do their effects on you (especially depending on who the critic is — a romantic partner, friend, parent, co-worker, boss).
Regardless of particular situation or person, it's good to be reminded first and foremost that people who have a low opinion of themselves will often be hardest on others. Putting others down typically makes insecure people feel more powerful. But this "power" is not, itself, powerful. It is flimsy, and serves to keep the cycle of negative self-worth alive.
So the second important reminder to keep in mind is that we can't control people's behavior. But what we can control is how we respond to others. Realizing that our thoughts and actions can determine how we feel is the best and most foolproof way to maintain a sense of personal power. This power isn't dependent on anyone else but ourselves. Now that is powerful.
Rather than seeking out the approval from other people, consider this radical question: what if we sought out our own self-approval first?
To help you answer this question, here is a list of twenty self-esteem boosting tips. If you can implement around three to five of these daily, you will begin to feel a shift in your mood and build your confidence and over time. Sure, people will start to treat you differently — but most importantly, you will treat yourself differently. You will treat yourself with honor, love, respect. The list can, and will, go on and on.
1. Accept that literally everything is a learning experience.
Forgive and let go of burdens or mistakes.
2. See your strengths from another point of view.
Give yourself a compliment, as if you were a friend.
3. Celebrate what you do well.
Think about your experiences, and bask in what you've achieved, or even just the feelings you've felt.
4. Trust your decisions.
You're gut is powerful, so avoid relying on the opinions of other people.
5. Give compliments.
They'll make you feel happy and grounded, while improving the mood of someone else, too!
6. Say nice things to yourself in your mind or in the mirror.
You can change your habits, and learn to let go of negative self-talk.
7. Surround yourself with positive people.
Let go of those who no longer influence you in a positive way.
8. Be authentic.
Avoid the need to constantly please other people.
9. Share your opinions.
Speak up and people will notice and respect you.
10. Push yourself gently out of your comfort zone.
Do this daily, weekly or monthly.
11. Or do the things that feel really uncomfortable.
Be a little brave.
12. Smile at other people.
Others will appreciate being noticed and made to feel special, and smiling just feels great.
13. Respect your body.
What could you do less of or more of to respect yourself more?
14. Pay attention to how you feel.
Tune into your feelings even if they feel subconscious (those can be the strongest messages).
15. Focus more on yourself instead of others.
What one thing could you do for yourself daily or weekly?
16. Be open to self-love.
No loved one can fulfill you in the same way that you can, your own self-love and self-acceptance.
17. Get thoughts off your chest.
Speak out about how you feel.
18. Repeat daily affirmations.
There are many mantras, but try "I'm worthy," "I'm doing my best" and "I accept myself for who I am."
19. Stand up for yourself.
Stay true to your values, especially if you feel they are under threat.
20. Believe yourself to be equal to everyone else.
You are.

5 Ways to Remind Yourself How Powerful You Really Are

You, yes you, are far greater than any problem or disappointment that may be present in your life.
I don’t care who you are or what you have accomplished, we all go through disappointments in life and struggle from time to time with coming to the realization just how special we truly are.
Think about it: let’s say you have a goal that you desperately want to achieve, but three months down the road you find out that you didn’t reach your mark. What happens? You quickly rush to blaming yourself and questioning your abilities and talents. You start to listen to the negative voices that keep rolling in and out of your head. You feel powerless, and like a victim instead of a victor.
What you have to understand and never lose sight of is that you have more power and control inside of you than you think you do. Some people get hit so hard by the outcomes of life that they lose complete sight of their uniqueness and wonderful talents they have been blessed with.
Failures and disappointments aren’t present to degrade our confidence and love for ourselves. You can experience so much more in life when you don’t look at disappointments and failures as some terrible mishap. Learn how to make it “OK” to fail and mess up every now and then.
Look at Abraham Lincoln. How many times did he fail before he actually was elected president of the United States? Look at Steve Jobs. He was a remarkable man who went through disappointment after disappointment before he actually achieved success. When he achieved success, he was fired from the company he founded! Look at Albert Einstein. How many times did he fail before once and for all breaking through?
These are three remarkable men who achieved remarkable success and went through very difficult and tough times. What they didn’t do though is let the hits they took from life keep them down. When things went wrong, they didn’t go with them!
They never forgot how powerful and special they truly were. If you make the decision to tell yourself daily how special you are and list all of your unique qualities, no setback or failure will ever be able to hold you back.
Here are five ways you can start to remind yourself daily of how powerful you really are.

1. Write in a gratitude journal.

When things go wrong in life, being able to sit down and start listing all you are thankful for will rekindle your happiness and give you a sense of accomplishment. Even small successes will serve to remind you of your past successes and that you will be successful in the present and future.

2. Continually review and look at your long-term goals.

Short-term disappointments are less likely to derail your well-being when you pay mind to all you wish to accomplish in the future.

3. Strive and work to dig deeper in your spirituality journey.

We all have different beliefs, but working to strengthen your spirit will help reinforce how powerful you are. Going to church every Sunday, reading scripture throughout your day or tapping into the power of meditation can help paint a positive picture of yourself.

4. Find time to read 10 to 15 pages of something motivational, inspirational or uplifting.

Just spending 10 to 15 minutes a day reading uplifting material can help renew your mind and enlighten your day. It alone can take your life to the next level.

5. Keep a note card filled with powerful and moving quotes.

Whenever I feel down or upset about something, I take my note card out and repeat over and over to myself the positive quotes that I had written on it. This habit helps to interrupt all of the negative thoughts that are trying to take control of your thinking.
You are powerful. Don’t ever lose sight of how powerful you really are. Life will knock you down and derail your path, but you don’t have to give in! Don’t let the tough times demoralize your beauty. You have a unique skill set that no one else possesses.
You are here to make a difference and make this world a better place. Just remember, you are far greater than any problem or circumstance that stands in your way!

3 Ways Your Spirit Guides Can Help You Find Your True Purpose

The new year can be an exciting time to go in a bold, new direction.
But what if you're feeling lost and aren't sure what that new direction is? If you're unsure about the next step to take in your career, relationship, or other aspect of your life, it can leave you feeling frustrated and unable to move forward.
Seven years ago, I was desperately wanting to have a career that I loved, but I had no clue what I wanted to do. I kept trying different options, but I still didn't feel like I was on the right path.
That's when I decided to ask my Spirit Guides for help. As a medium, I've been communicating with these loving spiritual helpers since I was a child, but I didn't realize they could help me find direction until that stressful time when I felt lost. By following their guidance, I have since created a career that I love and have helped thousands of people get clarity about their lives, too.
If you're feeling lost about your direction as the new year approaches, here are three reminders from your Spirit Guides to help keep you moving forward:
1. You are never lost.
No matter how lost and confused you feel, you are never truly lost. You don't need to know exactly how and when everything will work out. You just need to know the next step.
When I wanted career direction, I knew my next step was to quit the job I was miserable doing. I was too scared to take that step, so I convinced myself that I was lost. Is it possible that your feeling of being lost is really the fear of moving forward?
In this moment, you know everything you need to know to take the next step. Take slow, deep breaths until your mind feels focused, and then ask within, What is the next step? Observe what comes to you. If the answer feels peaceful, then it is from your source of inner guidance. If you feel stressed, fearful, or judged, then your thoughts have interfered. Take a slow, deep breath and try again.
2. Follow your joy.
In every situation, following your joy is the most practical, logical and soul-satisfying decision you can make.
Even though I didn't know how it related to my future career, part of following my joy was joining a singing group at a local church. Being part of that spiritual community made me realize how much I wanted to share messages to help people live their Spirit, which led to my ideal career. It's also where I met my husband. Everything fell into place when I followed my joy.
Whether you feel lost in your career, relationship, or some other area of your life, ask yourself what would bring you joy? If you knew everything would work out perfectly, what would you do?
3. You are powerful.
Sometimes you may know what you want, but yet you feel incapable of achieving it. From my journey and from working with other people, I have learned that most of us feel smaller and less powerful than we actually are.
One day I asked my Spirit Guides what belief I need to overcome, and they said, "Stop believing you're only human. You have unlimited power and potential in each moment."
You are more powerful than your fear of being lost. No obstacle that you face in life is bigger than you are.
By focusing on one step at a time, following your joy, and remembering who you are on a spiritual level, you'll be headed in the right direction for a happy and fulfilling new year!
