Be Determined! (By Patrice White)

Hi there,

Many times in my life have called for me to be determined.

Can you think of a time or situation when you had to be determined in your own life?

I'd love to hear your answers to this in the comment section.

For myself I think it seemed like I was born determined, I say that because I was born 2 months premature, breech and only weighed 3 pounds 9 ounces 28 years ago, I also had a heart defect (a whole in it) and was jaundiced, and yet even as that small underweight baby DETERMINATION was the driving force that has enabled me to be here today writing to you about it and sharing my experience.

Other observed examples of determination is for example a runner on the track who injures themselves mid race, yet still continues to finish the race despite he or she's injury, through the pain and struggle and all. (Please search on YouTube for the iconic and inspirational video of the athlete "Derek Redmond") who with the help and support of his father and a cheering crowd, that has to be one of the most beautiful videos and where determination was embodied.

Another question I'd like to ask is each day how do YOU think you can apply Determination to whatever it is YOU are going through?

Many have found (including myself in much recent times)that when we make a conscious effort and proactively insert determination to a situation as dire as it may seem, we start to notice a shift in the dynamics of energies and on our grasp of control and power we can feel in the midst of whatever it is that called us to action and pick up the receiver of determination.

All of us aspire to be to be "HAPPY" happiness and "NIRVANA" are this chase all the time, in order to get to these destination we must have the inner resolve to be DETERMINED first. This road of determination is often bypassed and diverted En route, we forget sometimes that this actually and important&vital path we must take first. Why? & How?

Because...

(1) When we decide we want to be HAPPY, do something that seems undoable etc, we have to have a resolve that we won't allow obstacles, negative thinking and energies our own or other's stop us from the decision we have made..

(2) We also need to remain focused, because our focus sometimes in our busy lives can be taken off our goals that we set, we can get side-tracked with all the distractions that life can bring and throw at us, again DETERMINATION should be the key ingredient that helps get us back on track.

So, with all that said, can we agree that when we are determined this is something positive for us, that if applied DAILY can add to life rather than take it away? And help us to beat the odds?

I'd like to close this article with an affirmation that has helped me more and more recently, and I think that will help you. Please say it with me (Can be said as many times in your day to yourself or out loud)

"Today I will hold the intention to be determined, I know that all that I want to achieve is within my power to do so, and at the end of this day, I will be proud of all that I have done."

Be Motivational, Not Manipulative!

Set your mind on the right things. Let your thought be progressive not aggressive. When your thought is moving forward and not backwards, you are motivating yourself and those around you. For it means, you will speak the right words and do the right things. But when your thought is aggressive and move about in a circle, you become manipulative, hurting both yourself and others. Truly out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks.

The following thought will help you steer the rudder of your ship to the right direction:

1. Don`t Allow Yourself to Be Distracted:
You owe yourself the duty of not being distracted from the dreams or goals you have for your life. Those dreams came to you from above, if they are good and beneficial to mankind, then they were inspired by God. God of course can`t be against what He inspired so who then can be against you if not yourself. You are responsible for whatever happens to you, don`t let anything or anyone distract you from who you were meant to be.

2. Always Push Yourself and Be Determined:
That you failed yesterday is not enough reason to throw in the towel, stand up, dust yourself, chin up, chest out and move on. The world revolves around those who are determined and who do not give up. Life itself appears intimidating sometimes, but do not let that scare you, always nudge yourself with good words and a charming smile. These will strengthen your resolve to be on top always.

3. Set Realizable Goals:
Don`t dabble into things, things so not just happen; they are made to happen. Have specific goals with times allotted to them for if you do not have a destination, everywhere will look like where you want to be. Do not let the goals you set for yourself overwhelm you. Look those goals in the eyes and conquer them for you have everything it takes to overcome life.

4. Don`t Accept Deviations:
Don`t answer names you haven`t been divinely given. You have been named and tagged with names like excellent, brave, the best, a success etc. Don`t answer names you were called before you discovered who you are. Don`t agree to the leadings of those detractors, always remember who you are.

5. Be Passionate About Your Goals:
Don`t be careless about your set goals. Don`t procrastinate, those goals should propel you to move forward. Breathe them, think them, live them and have them realized. Anything that don`t have your passion won`t attract your compassion and commitment. This is why the goals you set should be reliable for when they are cumbersome, you will lose interest.

People and materials you need to be motivational are all within you, press the right keys and they will appear, and truly life will become beautiful for you. Be progressive and not aggressive.

It's Just a Bad Day, Not a Bad Life

The journey from being a toddler to an adult is not an easy one. At the very tender age, the adventure of self discovery begins. Right from which color crayon you like, to what food u don't like, to what kind of life you want to lead, what to do, what not to do, it all defines who you are, what makes you "you". The decisions are not always easy, and it may not be always right. Problems, anxiety, agony, and disappointment follow us in every decision we make, and in every chance we take, but these are all ingredients in the recipe of life. It takes both bitter and sweet to make a dish perfect, and you can control what to add in what proportions, to create the dish you want to serve to the world. Every problem comes with a solution, more or less like a jigsaw puzzle, and while solving it you will be surrounded by influence from everyone around you. However, everything in your life is a reflection of a choice you have made, so the key to success is to stay committed to your core values and beliefs, and strive forward, in the path you have created for yourself.

Be determined, stay focused, battle life, and overcome obstacles to reach the destination you have set in your mind. When the dark cloud called "giving up" covers your sunshine, take up the courage and listen to your inner voice, that soft but steady voice - the conscience. Listen to it, and honor that voice, by moving forward and achieving your deepest aspirations.

How does one fail in life? This happens, when you let the voices and words of the surroundings mold your thoughts, and affect your values and beliefs. More than failure in life, this leads to failure in you. You are born to make mistakes, not to fake perfection. Every day in life, is a new beginning, a second chance. Don't lose hope because of the mistakes made today, rather let it inspire you to do the right tomorrow.

Life is a difficult climb, but the best views come after the hardest climb. No one knew that a farmer's son, Issac Newton would one day be among one of the most intelligent people in the world. No one knew Edmund Hillary, or Tenzing Norgay would climb the highest peak known to human kind. No one even imagined a deaf and blind woman, Hellen Keller, would one day achieve a Bachelor of Arts Degree. "Nothing is impossible" is a statement rightly proved. Bend to reach out for sunlight, and break off some branches that get in the way of your growth. And when you feel like giving up, be true to yourself and embrace the great blessing of life, and you will blossom vibrantly, because it is important to realize it was just a bad day, not a bad life.'

Life is not an easy journey. Everybody experiences challenges in every stage of life. Situations demand us to make difficult decisions, but one should never give up, because if one does that, he will fail in life, and fail himself. it is important to realize when you face problems, that it was just a bad phase in life, and it does not mean your whole life is bad.
