Feeling a Little Off? Try These Affirmations

Everyone has days when we're not feeling 100%. I get tired, or grumpy, or just irritated with stupid people/things/circumstances. And I get impatient with the things that I really want to change that haven't yet. I wonder if I'm ever going to get out of my office job... which every single day feels more like a prison. I don't feel quite so young, or invincible. Do you ever have days like that, Dear Reader?

It would be easy on those days, to stay in bed, and eat donuts...

I don't recommend it, however. That just feels too much like giving up, and it goes against every fiber in my body. Instead, I have a checklist of sorts, that I run through to guide me out of self-indulgent wallowing, and back to what I think of as "myself."

Let me digress, for just a moment, and tell you what that means to me. I think the way we view ourselves is such an essential part of the way we interact with everyone else. I see myself as a buoyant person, someone who rises to the top in any given situation. I am happy, positive... I'm passionate, and determined, and unstoppable when focused. That's how I see my "true" self.

But on my grumpy, foggy days, I'm not quite so sparkly, and I'm less focused in general. I do well when I know why things are happening. So, my first order of business on off days, is to figure out the reason(s) I might be feeling this way.

  • Did I get enough sleep?
  • Am I hungry/thirsty?
  • Is someone bothering me, and why?

Sometimes, something someone said/did or something I said/did will bother me and I'm not really sure why. Sometimes, it's because I'm not entirely sure if I've offended someone. Sometimes it's because I'm afraid I may have made a fool of myself. Sometimes, I'm irritated because I've perceived some slight or insult. And usually, unless it's pretty blatant, it'll just sit in the back of my head like a little piece of sand that is irritating without being really obvious. But if I think about it for a minute, and I realize what's bothering me, it's much easier to let that embarrassment/irritation go. That's weight I don't need to be carrying around. If it's something I know I need to apologize for, then I do it. Usually, it's a matter of sending a quick text or email, or making a call. An apology goes a long way. And if that's not really necessary, if I just need to forgive myself or forgive someone else for being inconsiderate, or rude, or just plain dumb, then I take a deep breath, and let it go. I imagine a bird flying right out of the top of my head. Give it a try, it's liberating.

Most times, the reason for the fog I'm feeling can be addressed by one or more of those questions. Next, I get to work pulling myself up by my bootstraps. Because why would I want to waste time feeling anything less than amazing? I walk myself through a series of affirmations. I love affirmations. You're the one with constant communication with yourself, that's a powerful tool!

The way you talk to yourself is a central, key part of your attitude and ultimately, your success. Now, if you've never talked to yourself intentionally, it feels a little funny at first. A little practice goes a long way!

Most of us don't even realize how we're talking to ourselves. The things we think about ourselves are a result of habit, and what we've taken from what other's say about us. But the reality is, we each have tremendous power, and it starts with how we're speaking to ourselves. If you're not intentional in what you say to yourself, it's time to take control. Here are some of my favorites.

  • I am a beautiful person. I think so many times we (especially women!) can think this and include everything but our physical bodies. Dear Reader, I believe everyone can be beautiful, physically, and spiritually. It all starts with how you feel/think about yourself. Women struggle with this sooooo much. Ladies, you are beautiful... and your men agree with me! Be brave, little piglet... go to the mirror, and find three things that are beautiful. Every morning, I wake up and I'm grateful for a beautiful body that is strong. I'm grateful for beautiful hair, and skin/teeth/nails. And I tell myself all those things are beautiful. Does everyone have to agree with me? Nope. I'm speaking to myself here... and here's the important part, I let myself believe it and feel that it's true. That's where the magic starts to happen.

  • I deserve to be happy. In fact, I deserve everything I want in life: love, happiness, success. This one gets after my habit of shame and guilt, and I can tell you, it's been a long road to actually believe that I deserve those things. But I am worthy (that is such a charged word!) of all of those things and so much more. Take a deep breath and tell yourself that one. Feel it in your roots, it feels amazing.

  • The universe is full of infinite abundance, and opportunities. There's plenty of room at the top. This one is aimed, in particular, at my competitive side. Here's the thing with competition, it teaches us that there's only room for one at the top. It teaches us that when one person succeeds, it means it's because everyone else did not. But that's a myth, Dear Reader. It's just not true. That's a limiting thought, and I don't have time for limitations. There's plenty of room for my success at the top, and that's where I'm headed.
  • Each of those is very personal. Your affirmations should be tailored to your weaknesses, and your goals. Taking that first step of taking control of the messages you're sending yourself is a huge step in the right direction. What do you do that works for pulling yourself out of a funk?

Slow Progress Towards Your Goals Is Never A Reason To Give Up

The Pressure To Succeed

Does it occasionally feel you're making great progress towards your goals while other times it appears that nothing is happening?

Don't be discouraged by what you cannot see, because plans can come together at the drop of a hat.

Goal attainment is not linear because there are processes taking place behind the scenes beyond your awareness. To your way of thinking, it may seem nothing is happening, or that your goals are progressing slowly. This is only your perception because you are invested in the outcome.

Progress is not dependent on a linear pattern. We believe this model of progress and place expectations on how our goals will be accomplished. Moreover, we are disappointed when it doesn't eventuate as planned.

Author Darren Hardy writes in The Compound Effect: Jumpstart Your Income, Your Life, Your Success: "If you are not making the progress that you would like to make and are capable of making, it is simply because your goals are not clearly defined."

There's an image often shared on social media depicting what success entails. Called The Iceberg Illusion, it highlights the unseen factors we're unaware of that lead to success.

It's easy to judge those who achieve overnight success or gain a lucky break. Truth is, had they not toiled away at their goal for years they would not have been in the right place to attract success. Had they given up or changed their goal, the opportunity may not have been presented to them.

It was John Lennon who wrote in the 1980's song Beautiful Boy (Darling Boy): "Life is what happens to you while you are busy making other plans." The person who hustles most strikes upon success because they are busy labouring away at their pursuit.

Nowadays, there is pressure from society to succeed. To be the next multimillionaire start-up founder, the next music prodigy or sporting hero. We need these people in our lives because they remind us success is attainable if we're lucky enough.

However, what is not known to most is that the individual has been striving away at their respective sport or creative endeavour for years, if not decades. Success comes to those who hustle for it, not those who believe they are deserving because of talent or privilege.

Daily Action Grooves Mental Performance

Slow progress does not equal failure. It is progress, however slow it may be because you are moving toward your goals and desires. Let go of the belief that you are too old or not talented enough. I could list a host of people who were too old and not talented enough and yet still succeeded.

"Success is not something you pursue. What you pursue will elude you; it can be like trying to chase butterflies. Success is something you attract by the person you become," says Darren Hardy.

It could be that your goal requires a longer incubation period. You might need to develop key proficiencies in certain areas before your goal is reached. Otherwise, success will be short lived. You only get one good go at it, so it's best not to rush the process.

Bide your time and develop your key abilities so when the time is right, you will reach your goal and sustain the success.

You may have heard the story of the Chinese Bamboo Tree?

The tree shows no sign of growth for four years. Once it is planted, it requires constant nurturing, fertilizer and watering, yet nothing happens within the first year. The process of nurturing and watering takes place in the following years and still there's no sign of growth.

But then something magical happens in the fifth year. Within five weeks the bamboo grows between 25-27 metres (82-88 feet). The tree lies dormant for four years and its biggest growth occurs in the final period of its life.

"It's not the big things that add up in the end; it's the hundreds, thousands, or millions of little things that separate the ordinary from the extraordinary," explains Darren Hardy.

To relate another similar example, I have been performing pull ups every day for the past decade without fail. Unless I'm travelling or sick, I'll complete 20-40 pull ups throughout the day. It's a habit I picked up long ago to make up for being unable to do three pull ups at one point. So I created a competition with myself to increase my repetitions daily. From that point, the obsessive habit has become a ritual I've stuck with for as long as I can remember.

Here's where it gets interesting. If I do the least amount of 20 pull ups per day, in one week I will have completed 140 pull ups. That equates to 600 per month and a staggering 7,300 pulls up per year.

Let me be clear, I am not muscular nor stronger than most people. I weigh 78 kg (171 lbs) and stand at 180cm. The point worth emphasising is that an action performed consistently accumulates momentum over the long run.

Why do I do it you ask?

Accomplishment.

When nothing is going right or I'm having a bad day, knowing I've completed my pull ups provides a sense of progress. It relates to the mental battle that plays out in my mind and has little to do with the exercise itself. I could replace pulls up with the number of words I write or practicing guitar chords. It is the habit and daily action that grooves the mental performance to achieve your goals that matters in the long run.

Retired United States Navy admiral William H. McRaven affirms in Make Your Bed: Small Things That Can Change Your Life... And Maybe The World: "Remember... start each day with a task completed."

Don't Be Defined By Your Circumstances

Slow progress leads to mental resiliency and personal growth. We must have our wits about us when we play the long game. It is no longer a sprint battle but a game of endurance and sustainability. It is said, we must be stubborn about pursuing our goals, yet flexible in our approach. Slow progress allows you to develop the right mindset to achieve your goals.

I recall listening to an interview with the Australian 2011 Tour de France winner Cadel Evans who was runner up in 2007 and 2008. He said, winning the 2011 title was the culmination of 20 years of dedicated work resulting in near misses. Persistence pays off no matter how long the race is.

Angela Duckworth says in Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance "As any coach or athlete will tell you, consistency of effort over the long run is everything."

Stamina, grit, resiliency, mental strength and perseverance are the hallmarks of a champion mind. These are the qualities of successful leaders because they push past their pain. They reframe the concept of losing and failure and turn it into success and triumph. They develop a powerful strength of character and are not defined by their circumstances since their WHY? is greater than their failure or losses.

William H. McRaven reminds us once more: "True leaders must learn from their failures, use the lessons to motivate themselves, and not be afraid to try again or make the next tough decision."

I leave you with a thought to contemplate.

Don't be discouraged by the time it takes to achieve your goals or dreams. Don't dwell on your circumstances as signs of progress since looks can deceive as evident with the Chinese Bamboo Tree story.

Harness your personal growth and inner resources to achieve your goals by consistently chipping away at it.

Because when the time is right, success will greet you, not because you are deserving of it or have earned it, but because you have pursued it long enough to know it is your right to claim.

How to Initiate Miracles in Your Daily Life

Rainbow

How do you set your dreams in the manifestation process and bring about a miracle? Forming unshakable beliefs around your goals, connecting to Higher Power and being a vibrational match for the Universe are some of the criteria that really help along with other factors. In this article, I give you two simple and natural ways you can do that and eventually bring to you your miracle goals.

Believing in Yourself

When you want to bring about a miracle dream goal, one of the best things you can do is simply believing in yourself and trusting that it will happen in its own good time in the right way. Just try to stick with it long enough with minimal negative thoughts, and you will be fine. Do not bring worry and self-doubt into the equation because it will only delay the process.

Most of the time the only barrier standing between you and the thing you want badly is lack of enough faith. Develop that faith, and peace will envelope you while your dream goal gets manifested.

Believing in yourself and having the required faith are what you will really need to bring something you want badly into existence. There is power in both of them; so remember to take them into account whenever you get screwed up and find enough value in yourself to develop them both and just trust what will unfurl. I promise that you will be rewarded with your miracle because I have been through it myself.

Asking the Right Questions

Now what do I mean by that? That is, whatever the situation is - ideal or nonideal - you should try asking the right questions to manifest your big miracle desires. Now how do you do that? Most importantly, they should carry a positive tone. For example, "How can I find the time to learn new skills for this job? or "What have I to learn from this situation? " or "How can I put more effort into my weight loss scheme?" Try to ask positive questions in a session and then forget them.

Later when you remember about your burning miracle, affirm it like this: "The answer will come to me. I am almost there... " And let go and forget. Every time you remember about it, affirm it and let go.

With the will of God/Divine Source/Higher Power, it will be manifested in your real life in its own good time. Don't doubt it anytime but remain calm and at ease, forgetting it as much as you can. That is because you know you have asked the right questions and affirmed them and have let gone of them in worthy separate sessions so that you have simply nothing to worry about but simply be in the knowhow that it will appear in your life shortly.

I find this method the easiest and most effective, and it works for me well too. So personally, I use it more often. Since it is a blessing for me, chances are it will work well for you as well.

To sum up, the above two tips are great for initiating miracles.

Transform Your Time and Your Life One Small Change at a Time

One-day-at-a-time.

How often have you heard that mantra? And how often have you actually acted on it?

It really is how change happens: - one-day-at-a-time. But we tend to forget that - either catastrophizing about missteps or getting complacent when we are doing well. And when we lose our one-day-at-a-time focus, we are very likely to lose our footing and lose ground.

Embracing a one-day-at-a-time perspective means, of necessity, starting and staying small. It's how you make this work for yourself. That's not to say you should not have big goals. More, it's to remember that big goals are brought to fruition by lots of small steps.

As Kyle Savikko wrote in a recent blog post, NOT staying small leads inevitably to disappointment.

It is then when we fall. We miss a day of working out. Forget to brush our teeth. Are too busy and get too distracted by the trials of life to write everyday... We miss the chance to fulfill our promise to ourselves to perform the habits.
One-day-at-a-time and your goals

So, how does this perspective work when you have really big goals?

Actually, it works quite well. You still have your goals - as big as your dreams. But you know, right down to your toes, that your path involves many incremental steps. If your goal is to create and sustain a new habit, you know that it takes a lot of repetition. Each step is important, but no one step makes or breaks things. Each link in the chain is vital but, honestly, in most situations, if you break the chain you can pick it up again and keep going.

There's a balance to maintain here. Each step is important, but it's a form of self-sabotage to make any single step into a make-or-break proposition. Encourage and energize yourself with your commitment to follow-through, but don't beat yourself up for a misstep. That will only distract you and get you stuck in self-criticism.

One-Day-at-a-Time Challenge

So, what's one change that you'll make in your life in the coming month, one-day-at-a-time.

For me, my commitment is to find time for meditation once a day - even if only for 5-minutes (but when I can, for longer). I know how this practice grounds and rejuvenates me - and it's one that I sometimes set aside when life feels hectic.

What small thing would you like to do, one-day-at-a-time, in the coming month? Remember, small steps are the stuff of important and transformational journeys.

We can all change our lives, one small change at a time.

Message From the Universe: Forget About the How's!

"However do you do it? You know, talk, and make such sense? Walk, and not fall down? Ask, and then know the answer? Aim, and then deliver? Show up on time? Always get by? Make just enough?

How on earth?!

You don't know how, do you?

You haven't got a clue.

And that's exactly how you do it.

You leave the "hows" to Me, as you simply focus upon and move towards the end results.

You got this,
The Universe"

OK, so you figured it out, FINALLY! You dream, think positively, work towards your goals and let the Universe take care of the rest. You know how everything works but by having NO clue on how EVERYTHING really works, this is how things happen. It might seem confusing at first, but this is how you experience the real things in life. The day you stopped figuring out or trying to find reasons as to the impossibility of this or that happening, you opened the floodgate for the Universe to take action and bring you the most incredible outcome you ever imagined. Yes, it does take discipline to force your mind to stop asking questions as to how you will get this accomplished because it is not your job for you to get involved in the HOW'S of your dreams. You just think, focus, take action, and let the rest unravel in front of you. Procrastination becomes an obstacle, and not just in your actions but also for your thoughts. Letting things intimidate you because of the amount of work is not the way to go. The HOW'S to be achieved by the Universe will come to a halt and the Universe will stop processing your thoughts. Avoid this at all cost. Change how you perceive things and learn to delegate the big tasks to the Universe. It is not that difficult. Actually, doing so will allow you to dream bigger because your mind will no longer be concerned about what needs to be accomplished.

Just like a computer, when you write a script/code, you let the computer take care of the task that takes too much time or that is too boring for your mind. You set up a cron job and the computer will repeat these tasks over and over again until you ask it to stop. Wouldn't that be amazing? Well, why not let the Universe take care of these mundane responsibilities so you can focus on what you find to be exciting? The Universe is a processor of tasks so ask and you shall receive. Do not bother understanding the logistic because you will be wasting your time. The complex algorithm the Universe possess is far beyond what any human mind can comprehend. Scientists have tried to figure out more about the Universe and its beginning and did find some substantial answers on how our cosmos works in the grand scheme of things. The truth is that they haven't even scratch the surface to what is out there, and chances are, they will never be able to figure out all of what needs to be discovered. All is based on theories since nothing beyond the Hobble telescope discoveries can be proved. String theory, what was before the Big Bang theory, is based on what they can determine to be the truth but can't really prove. Their job is to figure it out and let the scientific community know about their recent discoveries. For us, we just focus on letting the Universe take care of OUR how's and let ourselves grow and prosper. There is no real mystery here Ladies and Gentlemen, it is just based on a mental perception on what you expect the Universe to do for you. Focus on that ONLY!

Getting Things Done Make Life Easier

Getting things done brings a lot of advantages. It can create certain benefits that will help you along the way. When you get things done, you are able to see a different side of you that makes you appreciate the best things in life.

When you are given any task and you are able to finish it till the end, you are building your character as well as molding yourself to be better than yesterday. However, finishing things might be easier said than done. As you can see, when you try to accomplish something, there are many elemental things that you need to observe.

For instance, time management. This factor and aspect is crucial to your personal development and the attainment of your goals. If you implement time management, you can actually see yourself accomplishing something and that is something that can enhance your inner self greatly.

When you want to finish any given mandate, you need to strategize at all cost. It is vital that you seek the things that can do you good rather than cause you harm. The great thing about having plans and putting them into action is that it enables you to grow as a person.

Try to implement certain measures that can improve your time management, your planning skills, your perception and motivate you to get things done and finish them with flying colors as well.

There is a difference when you get things done accordingly and finishing them because you are required to do so. When you finish things with dedication as well as genuinely, it can create a variant result that renders positivity.

Never settle for less when it comes to doing your responsibility. Try man up and do things accordingly. Do not shun responsibility but face them head on so that you can see the bigger picture and find yourself successful in this world.

Our society is always fast tracking things but if you want to do well, getting all things done is one way to do it. Finish each task with positive outcomes. Owing to your desire to do great things, great rewards will follow.

When you live your life in mediocrity, you will lose yourself in the process and you will lose your value as well. Indeed, doing great things is not easy, and getting things done does come with a price. It comes with perseverance, patience, commitment, gladness, and even the willingness to counter all hurdles blocking your path. The road is not easy but the price that comes after it is priceless.

Five Secrets to Remain Focused When Your Back Is Against the Wall

Stay Focused on your Goals!

Basketball often teaches us valuable lessons that we can apply to our own lives. During the 2016 NBA finals, for instance, whether you were rooting for the Golden State Warriors or the Cleveland Cavaliers, we witnessed a number of viable strategies that can be used when our backs are against the wall, and how to stay laser-focused on your goals for the big win.

Even if you're not a basketball fan, the seven-game series taught us five vital principles for achieving success:

1. Don't complain. When the Cavaliers were losing three games to one during the best of seven series, with the world watching, it would have been easy to complain. It would have been easy to point fingers at the officials or other teammates. Instead, each player committed to doing what they needed to do to win. One starter, Kevin Love, went to the coach and volunteered to give up his starting position if it would help the team. He was willing to sacrifice his personal accolades for the big picture. When we are a part of a team, we too have to focus on the big picture to be successful.

2. Delete the junk from your mind. When the Cavaliers were down three games to one, many people said they could never win. Unfortunately, they had lost the NBA championship last year to the same team. Haters were saying, "they aren't good enough and will lose again." We have to delete from our minds the junk that we hear just as we delete junk from our computers. Junk only slows down our hard drive, and prevents us from achieving our goals. When negative people try to influence you, hit the delete button, and keep hitting delete delete delete. Stay focused on your goals. Only you can rewrite your story.

3. Don't let past failures define you. To win, the Cavaliers had to forget about last year's loss to Golden State. Use your past failures as a stepping stone. If you take the time to study why you didn't succeed last time, you can rework your blueprint for success. LeBron James said he had to review films and determine how he could improve his game. He then discovered what he needed to change. We have to also be willing to make a change to improve. If we can't accept that we need to make a change, sometimes this paralyzes us, and we will not move forward.

4. Don't be intimidated. Golden State Warriors were the champs. To defeat a champion, you have to possess a champion mentality. Pay attention to details and visualize the goal, just as LeBron James visualized winning. Determine what you want to achieve, and see yourself accomplishing that goal.

5. Do your thing. Analyze your strengths and weaknesses and determine how you can be a better you.

These principles can be applied in our daily lives. Eliminate self-doubt. People who achieve great success don't allow past failures to define them. The next time your back is against the wall, try these strategies and you too can be successful.

Staying Firm With Your Life Goals

Be Serious About Your Goals

Life is not a game. And you don't have time to waste.

If you want to succeed in life you have to take your life seriously. Most of you walk around in life dabbling without a purpose, without a focus, just walking aimlessly in life. This is not you, so stop doing that.

You are different.

The reason you are reading this article is because you want a better life for yourself or perhaps want to transform your self, your life, your car, your house, but something in your life you want to change now.

You are convinced that you are ready to change and will do anything in your power and resources to make that happen.

You want things to change; you want things to be better for you because let's face it you're tired of being miserable. You are dissatisfied with something in your life than you find unfair, tiring, boring, stunt-growing and angry.

You want things to change.

I know this is you; the first thing you have to do is stop complaining about your life when you have taken it for a joke.

When you're not living the life you deserve you have to analyze yourself. Perhaps you have taken your life unfavorely. When you look around at yourself you see that you lack focus, purpose and vision of whom you are.

Be Different

But I know one thing about you, this is not you. You want things to change and want things to get better. You are willing to change things around because you're tired of living a circus and you're the clown.

It's time for you to live a prosperous, happy, tranquil life that you truly deserve.

This is you. You have to be ready to make the decision that your life, your desires, your dreams are not a joke anymore.

When you become serious about whom you are and about what you want to accomplish; everyone else will help you and respect you because you're serious about who you are and where you want to be. Earn the respect and recognition you deserve.

Goals are not attracted to clowns, they are attracted to people who have made the decision to achieve the best, be the best and are serious of themselves.

Changing Your Self-Dialogue

In order to be happy, peaceful, persistent or successful in life it's about the self-dialogue you hear or tell yourself. Change it and life will change. Self-dialogues are amazing and effective when you believe in them.

Start with this:

Your dream, your desires, should make you tremble so vividly through your body convincing you that what you're doing in life is your life's purpose. It gives you the certainty you need in life; there should be no room for doubt.

As you journey through your life you must get certainty of what you want; sure of what you need and be sure it belongs to you. You deserve it. This is all that you should tell yourself on a daily basis.

And as you think these thoughts, you have to remind yourself again and again of telling yourself that there is no room in your mind for any negativity such as fear, doubt, quitting. You must not poison your mind.

The only thoughts springing out of your mind should be ideas that will get you where you want to be. You have a dream to achieve, a goal to acquire and a need of changing something in your life. This should be your only sole focus, nothing else.

Remember we do not have time to waste. Life is not a joke anymore. We have to stop wasting our valuable potential energy only in thoughts that will help us grow.

Distinguish Your Self From The Rest

We are different.

You are different. Your thoughts should be too. Only those that accomplish goals in life are those who dare to be different from the rest. They are the one's where fear does not exist in their thoughts because they think different. Their mind has transformed itself differently. Mutated perhaps.

The only way you'll get there is by feeding thoughts, ideas and images that will help you build a big archive of only self-growth ideas.

Ask yourself "What thoughts do you need to help you grow?"

It's one thing. Do not tolerate any longer mediocrity. This is a thought you have to believe and carve in your mind.

What is what thing you have in common with successful people? It's the ability of believing that we deserve better than mediocrity.

Let me explain, you have to train your mind that most successful people out there are enjoying themselves because they have tolerated little, unhappy with some part of their life and decided to do something about it. They decided no longer to tolerate their low paying job because they know it will get them nowhere, they move away from toxic relationships, change their beat-down jalopy. They change themselves.

They changed it. They are the type of people whom don't tolerate mediocrity anymore. This has to be you too.

The reason you're angry at life is not external. This anger is against you for not taking the initiative to do anything about it. You have to be willing to do something some thing, fight for it; do what you must. I mean anything! Do at least some thing even if you look like a fool.

What will motivate you to take action is believing that you are put in this earth to live life at it's fullest.

You must have the thought that you love life.

Things will change.

Motivate yourself to pursue your dreams, your goals, appreciate the opportunities that life is giving you to change. Change will be given to those who decide to love life.

This is you.

When your mind is with different thoughts you will no longer settle for mediocrity. You decided to be different. Do not get comfortable with a poor unbearable life. Change now.

Start today.

When you finally had enough that is when you will change. This is when you will open your eyes, see how much you deserve to live and more. It's the turning point in your life when you realize that you are different, want more out of life and it's time to live that life you deserve. It starts by being a new you; a new beginning.

To finish this off you have to create thoughts and believe in them. You deserve them. Believe in them. You are worth more than you believe. Change your thoughts now and you'll thank yourself later.

Give yourself thoughts and things that will make you happy.

Say to yourself, "I need to give myself those thoughts to make me happy".

The 4 Most Powerful Words That Launched the Most Successful Companies in The World

"Dr. Seuss is one of my favorite authors. I recently read an article that said the famed children's author loved challenges. In 1959, the co-founder of his publishing company bet Dr. Seuss that he could not write an actual book with a good story using fifty words or less. Dr. Seuss quickly accepted the bet. The result? The beloved book, "Green Eggs and Ham." To date it has sold over 200 million copies - using only 49 words in its entirety. Dr. Seuss might be on to something." Mary Southerland

In effect all he said was "I Can Do It"...

Dr. Seuss basically declared "I can do it" without hesitation and he did it.

When these four words find each other and come together, they establish one of the most compelling tools in your success support arsenal. They form an exceptional motivating phrase that's available for you to freely adopt and incorporate into your success support psyche.

The fusion of these four words provides an impressive power source that has the dynamism to enhance the mental stamina needed to start your success quest. "I Can Do It" is a positive affirmation that is ubiquitously written about and celebrated in quotes and articles throughout the internet and in bookstores.

There are an untold number of "I can do it" stories sweeping across and around the globe every day. These are stories of men and women who decide to do the mundane to the magnificent and start off with nothing more than an authentic belief in themselves and a personal commitment to, and a declaration of, the phrase "I can do it."

Moving forward with no guarantees of success, they make their world vulnerable and open it to outsiders who can inhibit and modify their declaration of "I Can Do It" yet they still advance with determination and hopefulness.

The Principal Point of this: "I Can Do It" is the only powerful way to start any project and even though you may not have all the facts and knowledge immediately this simple phrase is telling your psyche that it's time to go to work and accomplish this task or project and most important of all, it's telling you that "you can do it"

"A word of encouragement from a teacher to a child can change a life. A word of encouragement from a spouse can save a marriage. A word of encouragement from a leader can inspire a person to reach her potential." John C. Maxwell

Personal Note: For me "I Can Do It" is about helping you get started and that's the most important step of any project or venture you're planning to commit to. Trying to Start a venture or mission will prove to be the most challenging and stressful time in the life of that event.

In the fast moving world we live in it's very difficult to plan your way to success and achieve your most important goals. "Just start", take action now and learn as you go is the only way to try to keep up with the change that will keep poking you on your success quest.

The following is an extreme summary of what the beginning of your success quest should look like:

The steps to succeed in starting:

You Declare: "I Can Do It." You must believe in yourself with all your might. You need to dig deep and find the strength and self-respect needed to know that "you can do it." If you have to fake it that's okay. If you have to push through the fear and anxiety that's okay. We've all been there. You're not alone. The act of just starting will stimulate all your senses and the "I Can Do It" feeling will eventually appear and feel as if it was always there. Have faith. It will happen.

Personal Note: Remember when you were a kid and every year in September you had to start a new grade in school with new teachers and new classmates. This is no different.

Do your research: Acquire a basic outline for your new business or situation using the questions Who, What, When, Where, Why and How.

Remind yourself: "I Can Do It"

Just Start: Think Ready... Fire... Aim. Adjust as you go along. Always think "success". Be on the lookout for opportunities. For protection, keep a negative "what could go wrong" eye on your surroundings.

Remind yourself: "I Can Do It"
Good luck. Stay safe out there. Never give up on your dreams. Never. You can never fail if you refuse to give up.

How Do You DISCOVER Your Goals?

Whether you are leading an organization or business, or merely seeking to be the best, most productive individual, you can be, you must have goals, which have some sort of special meaning, or significance, to you! How often have you heard, or read, some discussion/article, which emphasizes the importance of goal-setting? Even after that, have you been able to settle on, and focus on goals which are relevant, motivating, and important, to you, personally? Most individuals state their personal goals, to be what they observe those around them saying. However, is everyone the same, and does everyone, automatically have the same goals, values, needs, concerns and priorities? When was the last time you took the time, to be introspective enough, to give yourself a checkup, from the neck up? Let's review some ideas, which may assist us, in being able to DISCOVER our true goals.

1. Delve deeply: Don't merely jump at the first thing, which comes to mind, or what someone else may want, desire, need, etc. Rather, delve deeply, into what truly might make you happy, and satisfied, and how that relates to your personal goals, etc.

2. Ideas; ideology; intent: What do you want the main intent of your life to be, at least at this juncture in time? Why have you come up with these, and what would you consider your compelling ideology, which drives you towards doing something, or taking a specific direction? Are your ideas, your own, or are you merely being a puppet, and repeating what others have spewed?

3. Strengths; solution-solving: Everyone has certain strengths and weaknesses. Do you know yours? How will you use your personal strengths, while adequately addressing your areas of weakness? Do you merely consider challenges as problems, or as obstacles, which you will solve, through quality solution-oriented evaluations, and actions?

4. Clearcut; cooperative: How clearly do you see what needs to, or should be done? Can you come to a clearcut action plan? Do you focus on cooperation, or negatives, etc?

5. Opinions; options; opportunities: We've all heard the adage, which makes an analogy between one's opinions, and their posterior! Basically, that everyone has one, but that doesn't make it right! There are always a variety of options and opportunities, so prepare yourself to be ready, willing and able to opt for the best available way, and proactively move forward, in your honorable quest.

6. Values; value; vision: Do you possess a personal, compelling, vital, vibrant vision? Does it align with quality values (and absolute integrity), or do you merely opt for the path of least resistance (or the easy way out)? Does your way emphasize value, in every conceivable manner?

7. Evaluate; emphasize; expectations: Are your hopes and expectations, your own? How do you evaluate and compare things? What do you place the most emphasis on, and why?

8. Relevance; rationale; realistic; rational: Do you avoid getting bogged down in petty issues (Don't sweat the petty stuff), and focus on the most relevant matters, first? Can you appreciate fully, your rationale, behind why you feel, and do, as you do? Is your way realistic, and achievable, and are you pursuing a rationale, but extraordinary set of realities?

Goal setting is essential, yet often quite challenging. Hopefully, this mnemonic discussion, helps you better DISCOVER your goals.

Picking Up New Skills To Use In The Workplace

Technology changes and evolves every few weeks. What is popular and common to use in the workplace now may be obsolete by the end of the year. The systems and programs that you learned to use in college or high school could quickly become outdated, leaving you without the skills employers expect their workers to have. When you want to pick up the skills without enrolling in on-campus classes or quitting your job to undertake another academic program, you may get the training you need to stay competitive by taking instructional lessons online.

Why Learn Online

Many people with careers are busy today. They lack the time to further their studies in on-campus classrooms because of the demands of their schedules. They cannot accommodate a professor's requirement that they be present in every class or lecture. Likewise, if you relegate your studies to campus lessons, you similarly may be unable to get skills that your company requires of you. Rather than compromise your schedule or your career, you might find online learning to be more agreeable with your goals.

When you take Internet-based lessons, you typically are not expected to adhere to any set schedule required by a professor. You can log on at your convenience and take the lessons during a break from work or on the weekends when you have some time off to study. The instructor will not penalize you for only logging on during your downtime.

You also might select the lessons that suit your professional needs the best. For example, if you know how to use Outlook, but need to learn Excel or Access, you can select those classes that suit your purpose. You avoid learning redundant information that you already acquired in college or high school.

Tuition Details

People with full-time jobs likewise may be on limited budgets for furthering their academic careers. You likewise might want to save money on your classes. You can use the packages and specials link to find out what instructions are provided at a discounted rate. This link could help you save money, but still get the education you need.

You also can build a tailored package for learning. People might have different needs when it comes to brushing up on technology. Rather than take a standard set of lessons, you might fare better to tailor one for your job description or for the knowledge you wish to obtain.

The blog on the website may provide you with much of what you need to know prior to enrolling. By reading the blog posts, you could get an idea of what topics you may encounter as a student. You also might find information that you can take with you into the workplace.

Technology evolves at a quick pace today. You may need to acquire new skills to remain competitive in the workplace and to avoid losing your job to a more qualified candidate. Rather than enroll in campus classes, you may fare better to take online SQL training courses during your downtime from work.

Declutter Your Life, Change Your World

Decluttering and organizing your surroundings can be life-altering - lifting the weight of the possessions, papers, digital clutter and commitments that burden you can open your space and mind to opportunities that were previously obscured. This month I offer a few simple tips to help you start to experience the peacefulness that comes with decluttering some key areas of your life. Keep in mind that organizing for the long term involves more than just clearing the clutter, but experiencing some quick victories will most likely motivate you to dig in deeper and create a lifetime of benefits.

Possessions: Answer these questions about each item or category of items to decide whether or not to hold onto them:

· When did I use this last?

· Am I likely to use it again?

· Why don't I use it more often?

· Do I love it?

· What would happen if I got rid of it?

· Does this enhance my life?

Papers: For each paper (sorry but yes, you do have to look at each one - you wouldn't want to toss the birth certificate that got mixed in with the grocery store ad, right?), ask if it's a WASTE:

Is it Worthwhile?

Will I use it Again?

Can I find it Somewhere else?

Will anything happen if I Toss it?

Do I need the Entire document or magazine?

Digital Information: Declutter your digital life the same way as your physical life - make a decision about each item to determine whether or not you need it. Store similar information (you get to decide what that means to you) together. For email, unsubscribe from newsletters (except this one!), blogs, social media feeds, ads, etc. that aren't essential or don't enhance your life.

Commitments: Decluttering your commitments means saying "no" to demands on your time that aren't essential or beneficial. Evaluate your appointments and other obligations against your goals and note which aren't in alignment with who you are, who you want to be, or where you want to go in life. Create a plan to eliminate or minimize those commitments - make a call, send an email, find your replacement, resign at the end of your current term, find a way to do it more efficiently, etc. Don't just go with the flow - take charge and eliminate what's getting in the way of you living your best life.

Although creating and implementing a plan to get and stay organized is more involved than simply decluttering, I hope the ideas noted here will help you see that there is a path to a simpler, less burdensome life. I wish you success on your journey.

Lessons From A Fairy Tale

Have you ever heard someone exclaim, "I don't believe in fairy tales!" or "Grow Up! Life is not a fairy tale"? Am sure you have. Most people believe fairy tales are for children and generally about the triumph of good over evil! Now honestly to an extent that is true but if one was to look deeper into the story much profound lessons of life emerge from them. Just that we may have never noticed! Let's take a look at Cinderella, one of the most popular fairy tales of all time. We all love to hear about the magical night when a young woman triumphs over her mean stepsisters and stepmother.

The story has been used as a metaphor to call all kinds of events a Cinderella story as long as things turn out well for a likeable underdog. But there's more to the story than meets the eye.
Let's take a look at what this princess can teach us about punctuality, patience, and power.

Cinderella Lessons about Punctuality

Do you remember the part when Cinderella puts herself in danger by breaking the promise to her fairy godmother about coming home from the ball before midnight? Do you remember what Cinderella is feeling at that time? She is under tremendous stress! Isn't she? What do you think you could learn from that?

  • Know your priorities. Cinderella broke her deadline because she was having so much fun at the ball. Being mindful of your priorities will help you keep your eye on your goals even when you are having too much fun!
  • Keep your word. Live up to your promises, especially when you are dealing with your fairy godmother or anyone who has been generous with you. Show others that you are respectful of their time.
  • Time management. Does time slip away from you? Use the alarm function on your mobile to remind you of appointments or use a proper time planner.
  • Plan your day. Maybe you are trying to pack too much into each day. Budget extra time for chores and tasks so you have a little breathing space.

Cinderella Lessons about Patience

Do you remember how badly Cinderella's stepmother and stepsisters insulted her and made her do all the housework? All the difficulties Cinderella had to suffer? She never ever got a chance to relax! What do you think we could learn from that?

  • Enjoy what you do. One reason Cinderella is so appealing is because she stayed cheerful even while washing dishes and sweeping floors. Look for the purpose behind your daily tasks to make them more meaningful.
  • Stay focused on your dreams. Cinderella did not give up on her dreams just because she did not receive an invitation to the ball. If you run into an obstacle, find other ways to reach your goals.
  • Overcome adversity. Cinderella was always finding creative ways to take care of her needs. Likewise you can also find opportunities in challenging situations.

Cinderella Lessons about Power

It would be fair if someone would critic that Cinderella was passive. After all, what would have happened if the prince didn't show up to rescue her? What do you think you could possibly learn from that?

  • Take charge of your future. If you want to succeed, create your own magic. Miraculous things can happen even when you don't have a fairy godmother or prince to help you. Thinking intentionally and putting your heart into your work will prepare you for incredible triumphs.
  • Genuinely care for the people in your life. Cinderella remained humble despite her new fame and fortune. She invited her family to come and live with her in the palace. Sharing your blessings with others will strengthen your relationships whether you live in a palace or an apartment.
  • Be genuine. Cinderella's heartfelt goodness didn't change with her attire. It remained the same whether she was dressed in rags or an evening gown. If you are authentic you will find a path and build a legacy that fits you just like the glass slipper that hugged Cinderella's foot.

It takes more than glass slippers and pumpkins turning into coaches to create a Cinderella story. Being focused and driven on your goals and living intentionally with a genuine loving heart and unshakable code of honor will help you create your own happy ending.

Give Up Negative Self-Talk to Go Up (By Rosalind Henderson)

Maria, was one of my first coaching clients. She powered through a Multiple Subject Credentialing program, but was stuck. In order to exit the program, she needed to pass a comprehensive exam. She failed three times. To Maria, it was an embarrassing failure, and she pledged to give up--to sit along the sidelines. She hadn't taken the test in a year and a half. She would have been content with her plan except the school district, for which she worked. started sending her letters-- the latest one gave her an ultimatum--Pass the exam by the end of the school year or find other work. At this point, I was called in.

One of the chief arenas people need transformation in is in how they view themselves. Maria, after three failures, branded herself an unintelligent failure. She felt she lacked the goods to finish her program and live her dream as a well paid teacher professional.

As you do regular autopsies in areas of your life, ask yourself: "How do I describe the events that happen in everyday life? Does your description move you toward your goals or does your discourse cause you to hesitate or even abort your plans?" How you describe things that happen to you in life determines the level of your success.

Letting go in this critical category entails you observe yourself frequently. What type of people do you draw to yourself? Are you satisfied with the people who surround you? Are they supporting the best self you're building? Or are they harsh, critical or foolish? What in you seeks such people out? What do you need to change in yourself to draw better quality people? How does self-talk affect your behavior? Does it keep your motivation red hot? Or do you struggle with procrastination? Have you been immobilized by critical voices that float through your head? Do these voices stir anxiety and fear within you? What would you be doing right now if you weren't immobilized? Skiing? Pursuing a better position at work? Opening yourself up to dating? Unplugging the cord that is plugged into past messages you absorbed from childhood is well worth your time. The quality of your relationships with yourself and others depend on it.

Many people find affirmations helpful, building self-esteem through acquiring skills is powerful, but a simple practice I call, "Refuting Self-Talk with Reality" has a profound ability to train your mind and emotions to overcome those little pesky gremlins in our head.

For example, with Maria, I had her regularly writing down the self-talk that loomed as I held her accountable for behavior that would help her pass the exam. She folded the paper in half on the left side of the journal entry and wrote one time, " I'm no good. How can I be so messed up? My son and daughter are depending on me to pass this exam. Will I fail them?"

I coached her to write realistic rebuttals to those thoughts. On the right hand she wrote, "Well, the truth is, I am cooperating with Rosalind. I put together a study group with other teachers who have yet to pass. We study every week.We are REALLY sharing our strengths. I have a couple of months before the test.Around them, I feel less stupid. Actually, I feel empowered. What I'm doing is better than sitting around doing nothing."

As with all training, Maria had to regularly take out pen and paper every time she was overcome with an intense barrage of negative self-talk.

It took time.
It took persistence.
However, she was willing to give up this false assessment of herself.

On the fourth try, she aced the exam.

If this is true for her, it is true for you. Pruning your negative self-talk, emotions and image of yourself is an important way to realize the best version of yourself.

Should You Write Down Your Goals Or Not?

Life is never perfect.

Even though there are lots of well-intended authors, speakers or trainers who wholeheartedly aim to help people, often some of their materials are not based on reality.

The self-help industry is one of the examples.

There are tons of myths out there in the market. If we don't distinguish between great solid advice from mediocre re-hashed stuff, we're just going to do more harm than good on ourselves.

So let's break down one of the biggest myths of goal-setting today.

You may have heard about a renowned Harvard/Yale study in the 1980s which asked students this question: "Have you set clear, written goals for your future and made plans to accomplish them?"

The purported result was that 13% of the students who had goals were earning, on average, twice as much as the 84% who had no goals at all. More astonishingly, 3% of those who had clear, written goals were earning, on average, 10 times as much as the other 97% combined.

I remember first hearing this "study" about 3 years ago when I was going through a famous Personal Power kind of program from one of my most admired role models.

Having conducted some research, I found that this Harvard/Yale study was actually originated from a book published also in the 1980s called What They Don't Teach You at Harvard Business School: Notes from a Street-smart Executive by Mark Mccormack.

But the problem is, I didn't seem to be able to find the actual study from either Harvard or Yale. Maybe it is just my incompetence, but it seems like the "study" was either an urban legend or it's confidential to the FBIs.

Now, whether this goal-setting study is real or not, the next more important question is: "Is writing down our goals better to achieve what we want?"

Well, I'm glad that there's an actual study on this.

In 2011, Dr. Gail Matthews, psychology professor at Dominican University, found that "more than 70% of the participants who sent weekly updates to a friend reported successful goal achievement (completely accomplished their goal or were more than half way there), compared to 35% of those who kept their goals to themselves, without writing them down."

Put it simply, she found that to increase one's chance of achieving their goals, it's essential that you combine public accountability, consistency, and writing down your goals.

"Why does writing goals down work?", you may ask.

In my experience, there are 3 main reasons.

Reason #1 You Activate The Power Of Commitment & Consistency

When we start something new and perform the first small action of a whole task, we will create an "open loop" where we feel compelled to finish things we've initiated. If not, we will generate a cognitive dissonance that makes us uncomfortable.

When you write your goals down, you're declaring to yourself that you are going to achieve them. You're literally transforming intangible thoughts in your mind into a written tangible reality.

That's why a simple action of writing things down will trigger your desire to remain consistent to what you've started and commit to finishing it.

Reason #2 You Activate The Power Of Clarity

Writing goals down is like picking a final destination of where you want to go.

If you don't know the "where", you have zero clarity on the "whats" and "hows" to get there.

If you don't at least see the bigger picture, you have zero motivation or courage to move to the next checkpoint.

Clarity brings the peace of mind required for goal achievement.

Reason #3 The Pen Is Mightier Than The Keyboard

In 2014, Pam A. Mueller of Princeton University and Daniel M. Oppenheimer of University of California, found that note-taking by hand are better than taking notes on laptops because the processing that occurs during the act of note taking improves learning and retention.

The process of writing things down takes a longer time, so it encodes the information more deeply in memory and your brain assigns a higher degree of importance to the process.

I still remember vividly that back in my university years, when I attended the law lectures, group seminars, or small class tutorials, I was always compelled to type things verbatim into the Word document simply because I knew that typing was much faster so I naturally didn't want to "miss anything".

Well, no wonder why I can't remember a single thing I had learnt... (Ha!)

Maybe Einstein is right again, "Paper is to write things down that we need to remember. Our brains are used to think."

So my friend, when it comes to important things like realizing your dream goals, stop using your computer or mobile device.

Pick a 1-2 hours' time slot in the weekend, sit down quietly without distractions, and use your hand to write down things you want.

Don't Wait for Tomorrow

Don't wait for tomorrow, because tomorrow is promised to no one. Don't let your fears or doubts cause you to procrastinate your dreams away to a land of nowhere. Don't permit your goals to be choked out by the weeds of fear. Don't allow excuses to cause you to shy away from taking action. Here is what I've learned. Procrastination is the mother of all failure. According to my friend and mentor John C. Maxwell, the longer you wait to start something, the less likely you are to ever start or complete it. Fear, which is the cousin of procrastination, is often the culprit when it comes to the reason why many people procrastinate. But fear is a mind-killer. It is like a little evil parasite that eats away at us on the inside. We must learn to face and control our fears, or they will certainly control us. Another cousin of procrastination is the excuse. Excuses are used by people who are usually incapable of completing any task.

Most of us have heard the expression, don't put off for tomorrow what you can do today. I heard the expression many times during my childhood as I was growing up. However, whenever I heard this saying, it was usually in the context of simply not being lazy. Now that I am an adult, for me, this saying has taken on a different meaning. When it comes to stepping out of our comfort zones to reach for our dreams or goals, it's not always a matter of laziness. Is it? Many of us have families, careers and many other things going on in our lives that cause us to put some of the things that we would like to do on the back burners. It's time to change the tide ladies and gentleman. There are so many people out there who have items on their bucket list that they just dismissed because life happens. Well I'm challenging you right now to take the bucket list out and blow the dust off of it. The same way God woke you up this morning when he blasted his breath into your lungs. He did that for a reason. That reason was not for us to be afraid to fulfill our purpose. Forget about the fear of failure! If you fail, so what? You still have the option to try again. According to John Maxwell, "You will never win, if you never begin." Don't wait for tomorrow, because tomorrow is promised to no one.

How would you feel if you get to the end of your life and you realize that you never took the time to chase your true dream? That is truly a sad narrative. Imagine the regret that a person feels when they have the rest of their life to deal with that kind of regret and disappointment. Let's not have that as our testimonies. Let us take control of our destinies and turn our dreams into reality. How do we do that? Make your dream or goal public. Get yourself an accountability partner. Find someone you trust; someone who will hold you accountable. This will put pressure on you to keep working at accomplishing your goal. Also, try saying to yourself, "I will start today," 50 times before you go to bed at night and 50 times again when you wake up in the morning. This will give you a psychological edge that will remind you of what you need to do. It will also keep your goals in the front of your mind. Don't put your dream off another day. Don't put off for tomorrow what you can do today. Don't wait! Don't wait for tomorrow, because tomorrow is promised to no one.

How Far Can Your Dreams Take You?

... as far as the power of your imagination and motivation

Imagination and motivation are powerful things, and with them on your side, you have all the reason in the world to achieve your grandest dreams. Need proof? Take the story of how the first bridge over the Niagara River near Niagara Falls was built in 1847….
You see, to build a bridge over the giant gorge, the builders first had to get a line over the canyon, from one side to the other—from the United States to Canada with roaring rapids underneath. Except the engineers couldn’t cross the river in a boat because it would go over the falls, the airplane hadn’t been invented yet, and the distance was way beyond bow-and-arrow range.
The designing engineer, Charles Ellet, pondered the dilemma until he came up with a revolutionary idea: to sponsor a kite flying contest. A $5 prize (a small lottery back then!) would go to the person who could fly a kite across the gorge and let it go low enough to the ground for someone on the other side to grab the string. It was successful—a young American boy won the contest on his second attempt.
The kite string, fastened to a tree, was used to pull a cord across, then a line, then a rope. Next came an iron-wire cable and then steel cables, until a structure strong enough to build a suspension bridge was in place. The bridge opened on August 1, 1848. And it all began with an idea and one thin kite string.
That string is like a single thought. The more vivid and clear the thought, and the more you come back to it, the stronger it becomes—like the string to the rope to the cable. Each time you rethink it, dwell on it or layer it with other thoughts, you are strengthening the structure on which to build your idea, like building a bridge over Niagara Falls.
But unlike a kite, there is no string attached to how high and how far your goals may take you. They are limited only by the power of your imagination and the strength of your desire.
