How To Change Yourself In Positive Ways

To change yourself in positive ways is not an easy feat but rather a hard one. In other words, most of us are weak, overwhelmed or even pathetic when it comes to making changes. But the makeover is possible. It is when you struggle with the fact that it is no longer acceptable, that you are ready for it.
Is there a change you tried to make but have not succeeded? Why people, in general, experience extreme difficulty when trying to change a single habit? What changes should you start with?

It is not an easy question. Making or creating a 'different' you can be tremendously challenging. But if think your life is currently on the wrong path, or not where you want to be, then a radical amount of constructive change in positive ways might be the best thing.

So, to change yourself requires a lot of discipline, but also knowing what your 'ideal self' looks like and recognizing your current weaknesses. It is usually a time when you take a hard look at the truth and realize that enough is enough. That is why it is uncomfortable for many people to make a change.

Beginning to Change Yourself
No one ever said it was going to be easy! To reach your ideal, you need to find role models who will help guide you along the way. If mentors are absent, read books about people you admire and begin to copy their habits. To change yourself, you need to have short and long-term goals.

In my life, there are so many changes I have gone through. And no matter if the change was small or big, each time was of importance. Studies show that to change a habit takes around 21 days, so three weeks. Yet, I had habits that took months or years to change as they were ingrained more in-depth into my unconscious.

Therefore, realize that you might be different. It may be easier or harder depending on the change or habit. You have to figure out what works for you. With that said, if you want to make a difference and develop different and new habits, start first by believing you can.

Nuts and Bolts of New Ways
I wrote several times about how to change, replace old habits, or develop new habits in positive ways, but here are the nuts and bolts:

  • Create a 30 or 90-day challenge for yourself, and focus on how to change just one habit at the time.
  • Put it out on paper, and add the obstacles and strategies you might have to overcome them.
  • Make an end goal by writing down your outcome.
  • Make it a big picture goal but divide it into multiple parts with smaller goals to achieve.
  • Put the written goal somewhere where you can see every day.
  • Commit fully and go full in.
  • Log your progress and report on it each week.
  • Relax and realize it is okay when you weaken as it happens to everyone.
  • If you fail, understand what went wrong but do not dwell on it. And then try again to change.
  • Reward every little success you make or get.

How to Change Yourself in Positive Ways
Learn from the best when it comes to transforming yourself in a different you. Again, find people who truly embody the person you want to be. Use and imitate various qualities or habits you respect from different persons to make a change.
But you have to develop positive ways of thinking. It is the first essential key to help you replace, build, and form any other habit or change you have in mind. Of course, positive thoughts alone will not lead to straight to success. On the other hand, it certainly assists you in pushing you to do the things required to succeed.

So, if you allow yourself to have negative thinking, you always end up failing. You have to think positive thoughts instead; it will give you a higher chance of success. It could be invaluable to you! Practice positive thinking again and again, until you can change and form just about any habit you need.

Exercising is Part of Change

Yes, exercise is healthy and all that, and it is also a part of any change. But how does it change your habits? Well, I walk two hours a day, every day. I am a sportsman by nature, but the last year I have done less exercise, and I got a thrombosis from being too many hours in front of my computer.

In fact, exercise makes you feel better about yourself. It clears your mind and makes you more confident. Workouts lead to a right mindset, constructive change, and better success. And you need to think in positive ways to endure exercise.

As a result, it relieves stress and gives you time to think. It then leads to better mental well-being in your life overall and helps with creativity. A friend of mine, Jonathan Dewaele is a great teacher when it comes to health and fitness.

Change by Taking Baby Steps
The key to change is making baby steps to imprint a new habit into the subconscious. Every goal or change you make should be a step toward your desired outcome. Small changes or goals should be tangible, but do not be afraid to have a big crazy goal.

Then, focus on only one small change. When you focus on one habit or goal at a time, it is more efficient. It is a powerful way of achieving your goals or changes for that matter. Focus and energy are the two vital ingredients for making a necessary change or the desired objective.

Therefore, pick one of the habits to focus on first. Break it into smaller aims and choose an action you can do today. Keep doing it every day until your goal is accomplished. Then get to the next modest target and so on. In some instances, turn them into habits until your routine is ingrained. And then focus on the following goal to achieve.

Change of Daily Routine
Change seems simple, and yet it is hard. You need to transform and create a new daily routine for yourself, which will make an enormous difference in your life. It means developing a habit for the morning, afternoon and evening.

Thus, it will revolutionize your life because a new routine will help you to simplify your days, focus on what is most important, and build the life you desire. In short, you have to eliminate the non-essential in your life.

First of all, you need to identify the things in your life that are most important to you, or what you love the most. Then eliminate all other stuff. It makes things simpler and gives you the space to focus on what is essential.

Cultivating Kindness as a Change
Yes, cultivating and being kind is a great habit to have. Try to focus on kindness each day for a month or two and see what sorts of profound changes enter in your life. It will change you in positive ways, and over the long run, you will see people act towards you differently and even treat you better.

It is called karma! How can you cultivate a kindness habit? Well, first, make it your goal to say or do something kind for a living being each day. It does not matter if it is human or animal. During the day, when an opportunity presents itself, be kind or do a caring act.

Therefore, each time you talk, interact or work with somebody, make an effort to be kind and compassionate. Finally, attempt to go beyond and into more significant acts of compassion. You could volunteer to help those in need or animal causes.

A Final Word on Change and New Ways
So, begin to change your wrong habits in positive ways and accept any small success. Each time you reach a short goal or transformation, you get closer to your outcome. It is a great thing!

However, do not get too satisfied when it happens. Take some time to appreciate the change and keep moving forward to your next desire. These new habits will change your life. It will help you genuinely root the constructive changes in your everyday life.

My closing words are to keep making new goals. Push and drive yourself to become a better version of the person you are now. To change yourself in positive ways and get better habits, you need to have a vivid picture of your final goal and then break it into smaller goals. And then, let it become a routine that gets ingrained and becomes a natural part of you. I know you can do it!

Top Self-Improvement Tips to Find Success in Life

Making changes to yourself and your life is never an easy task. It takes discipline, dedication, and determination to create a lasting change. Do not worry; finding opportunities to better yourself may be easier than you think. Here are some top self-improvement tips to help get you started in the right direction.

Always finish what you start

Getting from point A to point Z will give you a huge sense of accomplishment, even with small things. It will leave you feeling better about your ability to get things done. Start off with something small, like finishing a short book. Or perhaps, you have a home improvement project that you have left unfinished because of the lack of time or knowledge. Whatever it is, just be sure to start it and finish it before moving into a new direction. This will boost your self-confidence and give you the satisfaction of a job well done.

Face your Fears

Doing something new that has scared you in the past is another great way at improving your ability to gain control over your life. It doesn't have to be anything dangerous, like swimming with sharks to help you feel empowered. Perhaps, you are invited to speak publicly. Maybe you are nervous about asking a guy or girl out on a date. Whatever it is, make a decision to go for it, no matter what the outcome will be, it will help you to develop the courage to face your fears.

Quit a bad habit

Everyone has vices that we cling onto for dear life. If you are feeling like it's time to quit smoking, drinking, or whatever your bad habit may be, perhaps now is the time to do so. Kicking those pesky habits to the curb will have an empowering effect in your psyche; in turn, leaving you with the confidence that you can get unstuck from almost any sticky situation.

Level Up

If you have spent any time playing video games (or not), the concept of leveling up, or reaching a new level is nothing new. This can be done with almost any skill known to man. Even if you don't have anything you feel can be leveled up, take up something new which can. Playing an instrument, martial arts, writing or any hobby and or craft can be enhanced to a new level with honest practice and patience.

Exercise

There is a quote from Georges St-Pierre that says, "If you look good, you feel good, and if you feel good you do good." Close quote. This could not be closer to the truth. Think about how it makes you feel when you are wearing a nicely tailored suit, or beautiful dress. You feel like you own the space you walk into and have an air of confidence about you. Same goes for the body you were born into. Having a stronger and more functional body is not just for looks, but even if it was, it would be well worth the effort.

Follow these top self-improvement tips that I listed here in this presentation and it will help you feel good about the way you look; which is of great importance to having more self-confidence and leading a more successful life.

Message From the Universe: Keep It Silent Until the World Can See Your Prowess!

"Just act normal.

If you let just anyone know about your awareness of the legions in the unseen doing your bidding, or the population shifts now being sparked by your very words, or the circumstances and events presently being crafted by your thoughts, you just might create the illusion that you're from a not-so-distant parallel star system, possessing mysterious powers, favored by fate, here to save the world.

And, man-oh-man, you do not want that to happen!
The Universe"

Share it only when you make it, or until everyone discovers your awesomeness. No need to go and spread the word to get some congratulations on a potential venture that might or not succeed. More you get people involved in your business, more chances you get to deal with difficult challenges because of the negative energy that is being sent your way. Let's face it. People HATE seeing others succeed and will complain about why their lives is still the way it was 3 years ago, and nothing changed. However, when they see someone come up with a new trend and make millions out of it, they are more inclined to wish that whatever you are doing won't succeed so you can find yourself in the same place that they are in. Zig Ziglar often said: "Helping others succeed will boomerang back to you and you will enjoy the same level of success. Help others first". Always enjoy the journey and focus on how you can participate to making changes in this world, and eventually, you will take advantage of the positive outcome of your hard work.

Life is very difficult as it is, so why add negative thoughts to the mix. You may and WILL experience failure in your lifetime, but why people panic in the face of failure is because they never expect it, so it comes by surprise. Whatever you start in life, especially in business, be willing to fail. Learn from your lessons and do things better the next time around. Dust it off and start over and do not let these failures define you in any ways. You can control your own stress level and forgo the petty things that changes your mood and feelings. There are always worst things out there that can be much more difficult to handle. Be grateful for what you already have and you should feel fortunate for the blessings you are experiencing. I am not saying to be complacent for whatever should happen and just take it as it is, but just make decisions when you are calm and collected and feeling at ease prior to making drastic decisions. Whoever is trying to hurt you out there making your life more difficult will eventually come back to them with a vengeance. There is just so much you can do to protect yourself against negativity or harsh people. Don't let them change you.

When You Hit the Wall

We've all been in that place where we feel like we're not making progress. Maybe you're just starting out and making changes to your diet and fitness routine is harder than expected. Maybe you're a veteran, with your routine locked in, but just aren't seeing the progress you want. In either case, many people get discouraged, and either give up, or end up injuring themselves. Neither is a great option. I'm of the opinion that moving, and being active will always be better than not. Here's a list of suggestions that I work through with my clients who become discouraged.

Define progress.
Don't underestimate the importance of deciding what it is you want. The old adage of "if you don't know where you're going, you'll never get there" is perfect here. What kind of progress are you looking for, and how are you measuring it? Are you tracking your workouts in a notebook? Lots of CrossFit boxes are using Wodify, or another program like it to allow members to track their progress. Do you forget to enter your times and attendance? If you don't track what you've done, you'll never know how far you've come, and that leaves the door wide open for discouragement when you're feeling tired, or frustrated. Once you've decided what you want, come up with steps on how to get there. Come up with a plan, with short-term and long-term goals along the way.

Consider your stress bucket.
I love the analogy of a stress bucket, which was first introduced to me by weightlifting coach Sean Waxman, owner of Waxman's Gym, and I think the analogy has so much relevance not only to coaching, but to life. We all have stress in our lives. Our diet, sleep, work/school and relationships are what I think of as the common fundamental stressors in our lives. If we're eating badly, not enough or too much, our stress bucket is a little more full. Same thing with sleep. Those two things are the basic blocks for physical well-being. Do you have extra going on at school/work, or are things tense at home? After all of that, we can consider what's going on at the gym, which also adds stress. "But, I go to the gym to relieve stress," you remind me. Many of us do, and it does help to relieve stress. That endorphin rush is a very real thing. However, as you work, you're tearing down muscles, and generally fatiguing your body which adds stress to your bucket. Add on top of that the emotional importance many of us apply to how our workout goes, and we're piling on more. Now, if your fundamental stressors are already taking up an inordinate amount of your bucket, it doesn't leave a whole lot of room for gym stress, and we start to overflow. Overflow means things stop going well, you stop making progress, or you injure yourself. I know from experience that sooner or later, you cannot continue to make progress in the gym if your stress bucket is over-full. It will catch up with you. And it means you need to address the other stressors before you can expect to make more progress. Sometimes, its as simple as dialing in your nutrition, or getting an hour more of sleep at night. Sometimes, it's being a little gentler with yourself until things, which may be completely beyond your control, settle down at home. I can't tell you how many times I've reminded women at all stages (particularly during pregnancy, post-pregnancy) that there are times and seasons, and sometimes the gym and optimal fitness simply cannot be a priority. Trust me, I've learned this the hard way!

Proceed carefully through pain.
It is all too common, especially in CrossFit for clients to want to just "push through the pain." Now, I'm not talking about the "burn" or the natural fatigue we all feel when we're pushing ourselves to our limits. I'm talking about the pain that leads to or is the result of injury. I've had my share of injuries, and I've spent months going through recovery, and I can very honestly tell you that no workout is really worth an injury. Sometimes, you never see it coming. I had a friend who pulled his hamstring, just bending down to pick something up off the floor. It happens. I'm talking about shoulder pain, for example, that isn't going away, and isn't getting better, and may, in fact, be getting worse. Figure that out before you go all out on any movement. Let your body be your guide, and utilize your coaches. Many times they might know a thing or two, or they know someone who can help. Keep in mind that sometimes, you will need to invest in outside help, like a massage therapist, a chiropractor, or a physical therapist. Now, that doesn't mean that you need to turn into a vegetable until you've made a full recovery. Every exercise can be modified, whether you CrossFit, or do yoga or Zumba. Keep moving. Just be smart about it. Only you can gauge how much pain is too much, so it's up to you to listen. Remember, when it comes to injury, patience will be well-rewarded, and actually, your optimal health and fitness really require you to be patient, as difficult as that is to swallow.
Sometimes, if you've run smack into that wall, it's entirely appropriate to back off. Find another activity that you're more motivated to try, or that's more enjoyable right now. If you really feel the need to stick with what you've been doing, know that modifications may be necessary, and that's okay, Today, be kind to yourself. Love yourself a little more, and know that you are capable of really amazing things!

Dare, Don't Be Afraid to Make Mistakes

Don't worry if you make mistakes. Only people who dare, try, and persevere, complete tasks and achieve success.
It is so comfortable to be passive, make no effort, and stick to the familiar. However, by doing so, we allow external influences shape your life.
Daring, trying new things, and making changes, seem intimidating. It is more comfortable to suffer, complain, and stay in the same place.

Why Daring Is Intimidating?

  • You are afraid you might make mistakes.
  • You are afraid to look ridiculous.
  • You want to avoid criticism.
  • There is a lack of self-esteem.
  • There is a lack of self-confidence.
If you wish to let the above list intimidate you, and therefore, be unhappy, complain, and stay where you are, this is your choice. However, if you want to live a greater life, you should consider taking a step beyond your fears and start daring.
It is not so difficult to do.
It is a matter of attitude. It is a matter of changing your mindset. As the saying goes, 'it is all in the mind'.
After the first step, it would seem less intimating to dare, even if you make mistakes and bad choices.
All people who achieved success, any kind of success, dared to try. They did mistakes, and they failed over and again, but they did not give up.

Where Can You Dare?

This depends on you. It is advisable to start with minor matters, and as you gain confidence, do bigger things.
Here are a few suggestions:
  1. Start learning a foreign language.
  2. Go meet new people and friends.
  3. Take a trip abroad.
  4. Redecorate your home.
  5. Ask your boss for a raise.
  6. Start going to the gym.
Dare, don't be Afraid to Make Mistakes.
After gaining some experience you will feel more confident to dare handle bigger projects, such as:
  1. Find a better job
  2. Go back to college or start studying at the University
  3. Make the move you always wanted, to a new neighbourhood, a new city, or a different country
  4. Start a business
  5. Turn a hobby into a business
These are just a few of the things you can dare to do.
If you make mistakes, it's all right. Everyone make mistakes. Learn from them and go on. As said earlier, all successful people made mistakes, but they didn't let their mistakes discourage them or deter them.
It's quite simple, though not so easy to dare, and be afraid to make mistakes. This has nothing to do with finance, physical strength or education. It is all a state of mind. It is something inside you.
You need to find the strength and courage within you. You should learn to be courageous and daring, and do things, without the need to be pushed and motivated from the outside.
You have this strength within you, you only need to be conscious of it, and strengthen it. Affirmations, visualization, and inner strength development are the tools to do this.
Learn to be a doer, by taking the initiative and acting now, without procrastinating or hesitation. Start with simple little things to gain experience and confidence.
  • Can you learn to speak fluently a foreign language, without making some mistakes at first?
  • Can you become a great cook, without learning, cooking and experimenting, and making some mistakes along the way?
  • Can you create a successful business, without learning, investing, making mistakes, and trying again?
  • Can you become an expert in any field, before you had enough experience?
Don't worry if you make mistakes on the way. By making mistakes, you learn to improve and do better.
You just have to take action. It's not as difficult as it seems.
