Synchronicity and Consciousness? What's Your Perception

We are all connected as humans, to the earth and the universe therefore we will often communicate and given guidance. This is all central to one, some might identify it as God, Source, Divine or nothing at all depending on your personal belief. I believe we are not solitary in this world (and by world I mean the whole universe, and mind you we are only a speck in the milky way). If you think about it, what we have on earth, the minerals, water and gases - we have components of these and we do need them in order to maintain our health. What we have on earth is replicated under the sea.

The body has electric charges - look at the function of the heart, it has electric charging taking place for it to continue beating, that is one but not all examples. If we have that capability this means we have energy, and what is energy when we relate it to a human being, would you call it your soul. Is that what makes you who you are? So if you think of all the components that makes us as humans plus the soul and energy we produce and possess then it sounds right that we are connected to each other and the universe.

A lot of signs come to us sometimes we just don't notice it especially when we are closed off and we are not conscious or in other terms widely known ''present''. Many a times we are living in auto pilot mode where we are not aware of the beauty around us. The world is such an amazing place and at times we lose focus and we lack gratitude of this experience. Our world is full of it's own energy which we can draw from, it's energy is abundant and infinite and we can use this to ground us when we are feeling unbalanced/unsettled. This is a free resource you do not need to pay a subscription fee its there for the taking! So why are only a few people are aware of this, why are there only a few with the ''awakened consciousness''? We lead busy hectic lives that leave us no time to reflect and have time to communicate with our soul, continuously doing this as a human race has resulted in a closed unconscious soul. We have lost our connection with ''our Source'' therefore we are blind to the signs and guidance that is given to us.

Synchronicity and law of attraction are connected, that is my opinion. The reason I think they are is ''we attract what we desire'' and by so doing the frequency of which we begin to notice this brings about the synchronicity. I will reiterate, it is my personal opinion and I look forward to hearing other's opinions. Here is an example that happened on 4th July, small as it might sound. I had been reading about putting thoughts into action and had made a Instagram ''as you think so shall you be'', what we think becomes reality if we put emotion, whether positive or negative. I embarked on my train journey to work and whilst standing in the rush hour packed train a girl had with a black tote bag with the words '' Dream your desires to come true'' that made me smile as it resonated with what I'd been reading earlier and for me I thought that is the universe telling me that it's listening and it will be bring those thoughts towards me. It made me smile even if it might not be significant. It also made me realize that I had had a wave of consciousness, of awareness which I need to be consciously aware and work at it until it becomes part of my lifestyle without purposely practicing it. I am working towards it becoming a part of me not something I have to remember to do.

The past couple of weeks I had to review my attitude towards my children, work colleagues, friends and strangers around me. Firstly I had to stop passing judgement, practice patients (especially behind the wheel) and to realize that we are all connected and everyone deserves love. It has been really exciting and an eye opener to put into place these steps. What good is it, to preach goodness and consciousness when it is not resonated in your life. To be conscious here are a few pointers to head in the right direction

  • be in the moment, be present in your surroundings, absorb and articulate the detail around you
  • be healthy - a healthy mind needs a healthy body, when you eat healthily you become aware of the goodness of nourishing foods that feed your body, mind, and soul
  • having a sense of purpose, we were created to serve on this earth, each and everyone of us has a purpose. When you become mindful and aware of who you are you will find your purpose.
  • conscious awareness - become unbiased towards everyone and everything around you. I have noticed my patience when I'm driving has improved my view of people, and have become to accept that everyone is where there are supposed to be at that time, whether they are driving at snail pace.
  • you will start resonating and connecting with like minded people who are on the same path as you

If A Fragment of Your Life Wanders Free

What might happen if a part of you could wander free; still connected to you but freed from the regiments of the life you have created? Where would you go, what might you be interested in if no one but you could ever know where that part might travel? A ridiculous thought you may say; one cannot do such a thing and should not waste time trying to imagine the outcome! Yet, this is exactly what dreams and goals are made of, the kind we all hope to create.

It is impossible to dream if we cannot remove the constraints we imagine are keeping us from instantly realizing our dreams, all of them. What does this mean, where do those hopes and dreams come from anyway? They come from that part of you that is allowed to wander free to imagine what could be rather than accepting what you believe is reality. We all arrive in our lives with the creative ability to dream, to imagine and to believe in anything that crosses our mind. After all, if we can imagine it then surely it must be possible!

At about the age of three someone else's reality intercepts our dreams and begins the steady drumbeat of, 'That's not possible; you can't do that, become that or believe that. And presto, all the weight of those powerful authority figures in our lives come crashing down on our dreams. It's not real they tell us, repeatedly. This continuous lecture about impossibilities can reshape our perception of what can become our future; suddenly our expectations merge with that of someone else's and a new reality begins. 'You must not dare to dream, that's not real and will not serve you in the future.' Parents and teachers actually express concern about a child who continues to dream freely.

Those who refuse to allow their hopes and dreams to be crushed are the heroes we read about, the people who went far beyond what anyone close to them imagined they could become. They are the finest crafters of new ideas, the best at scaling heights and the most likely to be memorable to all those who once scoffed at them. Those who refuse to relinquish their dreams dare to allow a part of them to roam free. They can never tolerate being confined by ideas they believe do not lead them to a place that can never fulfill what they instinctively know can be. They are compelled to discover new ideas, to perfect new ways to do old things and to shine light through the cracks of what is broken.

When we embrace new ideas and ways of doing things we should stop and silently thank the dreamer behind the idea, the one who looked and said there must be a better way and set out to find it. If children only understood how their lives would change by accepting the 'wisdom' of adults around them they would never allow their hopes and dreams to be crushed.

Life begins with an inborn sense of what we can become. We are interested, early in life, in the things that will allow us to realize our potential, our life plan.

Parents who are aware of this encourage their child to keep dreaming, to set goals the parents may believe their child will never be able to achieve. If your hopes and dreams have been packed away by well-meaning people who do not understand, dare to take the time to unpack them; allow yourself to wander freely among them. You will reignite the childlike faith in what can still be a part of your life.

Blessed are the dreamers who choose to allow their imagination and creativity to roam free, for they shall light the path ahead!

Just Me (By Gina DeNicola)

If you know me, you know I have major body image issues. I've never been confident with my body and never believed people when they would tell me I was pretty. I have never been comfortable with just me.

Almost every day my husband would tell me that I looked pretty or that I was beautiful, and I would always respond with "no I'm not." Then a few months ago I realized I hadn't heard those precious little words from my husband. So I had the conversation, and I asked him why he didn't tell me I was pretty anymore. His response was "you always say, 'No I'm not' so I figured I would stop saying it, even though I believe them to be the truest words I have ever spoken." That broke my heart, and I sat down on the bench behind me and started to cry. I cried because my perception of myself forced a man who would walk through fire for me, to not feel comfortable with calling me beautiful anymore.

I begged him not to stop, and I would answer differently next time. I thought to myself, how hard could that be, just respond differently? Not a day later I walked out of our bedroom dressed to go somewhere and there it was coming out of his mouth "you look beautiful". When the final word flew out of his mouth, I looked at him, seriously, and almost said: "no I don't." It would have been so easy to say "no I don't" after all those words were hitting the back of my teeth demanding to be let out. I swallowed hard and squeaked out a faint "thank you", so faint that if you weren't watching my lips move, you would be certain I hadn't said a thing. My sweet husband, knowing what a big step that was for me just opened his arms and swallowed me whole.

I have been trying to be kind to myself every day since then and thankfully my husband has not given up on me. I can now force out a thank you even if I only half the time believe it myself. I am slowly reprogramming those 40 years, and I have started to see myself as my husband sees me, as my children see me. Believe me, that is not to say I don't have my moments, come on, I'm human so of course I still have my moments, but then today happened.

Today was the first time that I looked at a picture of myself and I felt pretty, honestly pretty.

It is not a professional photo; it is just a picture I took by myself on my phone to show my sister my new haircut. When I got ready to send it, I couldn't stop looking at it, for the first time in my life I felt beautiful. I love the natural color of my hair. I have my reading glasses on and no makeup. That picture is 100% genuine me, and I loved it. I couldn't stop staring at it mostly because it is at an angle that I have in the past, despised and yet I was in love.

I was at a loss trying to understand why I loved it so much, and I sat and thought about it for a good hour. And then I came to the conclusion that the picture reflected a woman who was finally comfortable in her skin. A woman who is kind and good and it reflects on her face. A woman who comfortable with where she was in her life. A woman who is comfortable with herself like she has never been before.

Being gentle with myself has paid off. Having a gentle husband has paid off. The result is that picture, a picture of a woman who has fallen in love with herself. Please be gentle with yourself, you are beautiful, you are kind, and you are good.

Brain Overload - You May Need To Up Your Vitamins And Cardio To Cope

Most of us realize that we have one-foot in the real world and one-foot in the virtual world and sometimes it is hard to say which one we are really in at any time. The other day I was at Starbucks, in line waiting, and the five people ahead of me were all on their smartphones, texting or whatever, the cashier looked up and said "next" but no one looked up, everyone was busy, so I cut to the front and ordered, I looked back feeling guilty and no one even noticed - they were not paying attention - yes, better there in line than in their non-self-driving car on the road while I crossed in a crosswalk.

Where is all this going? Are we driven to distraction, are we improving our efficiency, are we really living, or only living half a life in two places? By now I think we all know that much of our future will be Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality and that this future will blurr our perception of this current reality, and obviously I am not the first to state this (Cite: 1). There have been TEDtalks about this and even speculation that we may now be living in a simulated reality, like the Matrix. Many thinkers today believe this and their reasoning is intellectually sound, which may bother some folks to consider that they are merely an Avatar in a highly sophisticated computer game, perhaps known as the Life Experience or something of that nature?

The was an interesting article in The Institute, the official IEEE (The Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) publication titled: "Augmented Reality Could Contribute to Information Overload, If We Let It - A new kind of operating system will be needed to encourage mindfulness rather than distraction," by Amanda Davis published on December 22, 2016. The article states:

"As AR applications emerge it will begin to take a toll on human consciousness, according to John Rousseau, executive director at Artefact.. He says our perception of reality could be influenced by a constant 'feed' of information that-like today-is created and controlled by a variety of self-interested parties."

There have been research studies (Cite: 2) showing that the use of smart phones and other gadgets is as addictive as heroin. The Union Newspaper (Northern NV) "Richard Cristdahl: Another inconvenient truth," which stated:

"Nicholas Kardaras, PhD, addiction specialist and columnist, calls it "digital heroin" and Andrew Doan, MD, PhD, head of addiction research for the Pentagon and U.S. Navy, and an associate scientist at the National Institute of Health, calls video games and screen technologies "digital pharmakeia" (digital drugs)."

We know that video games are addicting, literally they fit all the definitions I've ever seen. We now know our smart devices are addicting (in all fairness and disclosure; I do not personally own a smartphone), so in the future when these technologies really get good and appear very real, it will be hard for most people to justify staying in the moment or with mindfulness, when the allure to be anything you want to be is just a matter of flipping a switch or a simple voice command and all the holographic world pops up in front of you.

Something needs to happen, because where we are headed isn't pretty, and what we are doing now isn't working. It isn't healthy to sit on your butt and text and it isn't safe to walk or drive and text. Our minds are being modified and we are depleting our brains of nutrients straddling these two-worlds trying to multi-task. If we continue we'll need to up the cardio-exercise and take some serious vitamins to keep our brains efficient at the myriad of tasks at hand. Please consider all this and think on it.

Life Is a Treasure Hunt

Once upon a time there was an unusually optimistic little boy named Max. Max's parents were worried that he was actually incapable of seeing the world like a normal kid, so they decided to take him to a psychiatrist to see if she could talk some sense into him.

The psychiatrist was getting frustrated with Max's absolute refusal to perceive negativity and was ready to try anything. Christmas was coming and she made a wild suggestion to Max's parents. Instead of gifts this year, she encouraged them to fill the back yard with horse manure. Not knowing what else to do, his parents agreed.

On Christmas morning, they were shocked to see Max, instead of being horrified, actually shrieking with delight.

"Why are you so happy, Max?" his parents demanded. "Can't you see? With all this manure, there must be a pony here somewhere!"

This is an extreme example, to be sure, but I do strongly believe and continue to prove that:

Everything either IS a gift or it HAS a gift!

We all love the experiences that immediately feel like a gift - the financial windfall, the perfect job offer, the date with the wonderful someone. It's the other experiences - the ones that are masquerading as something unwanted - that require a shift in perception.

What if you truly believed that the very unwanted situation you are experiencing is actually a gift in disguise?

If you really believed there was a gift waiting for you, would you start looking for it? Would you make it fun? Would you turn it into a treasure hunt?

Everything changes when you align with this new perspective. You no longer give in to suffering and despair. You're too busy looking for and finding treasures!

Instead of responding from a low vibration:

*"Why me?"

*"I never get a break."

*"Why can't I ever get what I want?"

Maintain your power by sincerely asking:

*"What's the gift in this situation?"

*"What's perfect about this?"

*"What's the wonderful thing that will come of this?"

This is what the Buddhists call turning poison into medicine.

The Law of Attraction teaches that we attract what we focus on. If we give into a mindset of "life sucks," we will experience one sucky experience after another.

However, if we choose the mindset of "life is good!" and maintain the willingness to find the gift in everything, we will experience a steady stream of good times.

Life is a treasure hunt, so no matter what happens, let's focus all our resources on finding the treasure. And, like Max, we'll be happy and excited knowing there must be a pony here somewhere!

Everything either IS a gift or it HAS a gift!

Idea and Impact

The human mind is one of the most important organs in our body. Scholars define mind as the set of cognitive faculties, including consciousness, perception, thinking, judgment, and memory. It is also defined as the faculty of an entity's thought and consciousness. An average person needs to understand that it is the mind which cultivates initial input and translates into many constructive and destructive ideas. What conspires and transpires in the human mind that an individual's life revolves around it decisively. The decision which could be profitable, or damaging is subjective. However, objective analysis will explore the parameters of its boundaries to constrain the volatility of mind and motives.

Though the subject by itself is quite exhaustive in nature, however, I am touching its expansive nature peripherally. This concise and conclusive topic, highlights not only the salient features, but also the hidden information within its meaning and concepts. It also needs to comprehend its roots and source of concept benefitting humanity. To achieve the above, we need to explore the creation reality and purpose. It will help individual and society constructively, thereby, giving birth to a maturity and humility among masses.

This is the beginning of life in this materialistic world, yet, it needs to travel spiritually within this existence. The creation is a continuous process through different realms prior to reaching a destination which could be good or bad depending on an individual's performance. This culminating point is again limited to one particular realm. The Creator's plans and executions of creations is a continuous process on a predetermined path.

The journey commences in a simple way, but develops desires which are tangible or tacit. It means probing within the mental agility will explore implicit happenings. However, tangibility needs physical touch and feel. Point to ponder is that tangibility leans towards perception. Hence, it is some reality, but not total reality. Here, the impact comes into play, which on its own perception can be deep-rooted or peripheral depending upon mind's growth.

Carol S. Dweck, a psychologist on the faculty at Stanford University, proposed mindset theory to understand the effects of the beliefs that individuals hold for the nature of intelligence. It is also stated that mindset is divided in two segments; one is fixed and the other is growth. The fixed mindset relies on feedback, whereas the growth corresponds to success. Thus, the scholars evaluate the thoughts and impacts accordingly based on the what avenues it is left open to debate and discussion.

It is said that everyone is responsible to understand of their own mind through introspection. Others can only evaluate or read subjectively depending upon what is being revealed either directly or indirectly. Although the 'thought' that generates valuable information is subjectively inclined yet to objectively show powerful impact. Hence, these are two sides of the same coin. The impact correspondingly sways and surges within these parameters with its limitations. However, when broader values and new vistas are open then it travels into expansive territories revealing mind-boggling meanings and concepts.

The arguments revolve around thoughts prior to associating with impacts. If the thoughts are powerful then it shows profound impact and leaves a successful trail for people to reflect upon it. Otherwise, it gets relegated into some corner of memories eventually diminishes leaving no traces.

Are The Highly Successful Really Superheroes? (By Daniel Brennan)

I spoke to a friend recently, who was struggling with some actions he had been taking that he didn't particularly like. He said he was struggling with X and that put him in a bad frame of mind which led him to feel poorly about himself and he felt like he was in a slow spiral; one which needed intervening. We spoke for a while and came to some conclusions. One line of our conversation struck me, and it is a belief system that many people hold to be true and it is that we compare the worst in ourselves to the best of what we see in others. Read that again... The best of what "we see in others"... As Descartes has pointed out, our main source of knowledge, our senses are often erroneous and therefore must be doubted. Seeing the best in someone therefore should be doubted and critically analyzed as best we can.

Perception or Reality?

The line that stood out to me was "I see you, living your life in America, you've written a book and are having a great time". To which I replied, "we compare the worst in ourselves to the best in other people". Have I been having a great time? Absolutely, but that is immaterial. A great time doesn't always mean happiness. My friend, lets call him Albert (you know his second name but that must be disclosed) was slightly taken aback when I told him, "don't worry, I've been in your position before".

In spring of 2014, I left my golf scholarship behind and moved back to Ireland. Upset, lost and full of B.S, I thought I had everything figured out. I figured, college is only a system and a business which churns out graduates that go into low paying jobs to repay the debt, which they racked up in their 4-6 years in college. I still believe this is the case but I now see through that and realize that the benefits of college are most often not from the college itself but from the people you meet, the places you go and the experiences you have. After moving home I wrote a book, another 'success', which my friend saw in me. Little did he know that when writing the book, I was upset, lost and extremely angry with myself. Later, after writing and publishing the book, which got some recognition from golfers and people I look up to, I started a company, which again was another 'success' in my life. Again, I grew more and more anxious, upset and uneasy with myself. In the summer of 2015, I decided to go back to college and pursue that dream again because I figured I must right the wrongs of my first attempt and I figured that the problem was not me, but the circumstances in which I found myself. Again, from the outside looking in, this probably seemed great and seemed like wow; Daniel is doing well for himself again... but... one month in and FLOP... Major flop. I came home for a few weeks in early October to get my head right which I did. Of course, my first attempt at university stateside had absolutely nothing to do with circumstance but rather a young cocky head on young shoulders led me astray and going back with a slightly altered but still not clear mindset was setting me up for failure yet again. Thankfully, it didn't.

Hmmmmm...

You're now thinking, "well thanks for your life story over the last three years but I really don't care", and I agree. You shouldn't. But there is a lesson in there. As my friend was on the outside looking in; all he saw was success, happiness and a guy who was literally, living his dream. From the inside looking out it was much different. All I saw was a guy who was upset with himself, angry with himself and frustrated with the lack of progress he was making in his life. I saw a guy who was a hindrance to society and someone who probably wouldn't be missed too much if he was no longer here. While this example is trivial, what it points to is absolutely essential in our overall wellbeing.

Seeing Through Your Biases

As we build our perceptions of other people, we often forget that everyone is facing a battle you know nothing about and I believe this is quite evident over the past three years. The media helps build sport stars and celebrities as superheroes and constantly reminds us of the crises our world is in. We are made believe that we are in this whirlwind for the long run and we can't get out and that somehow, the celebrities are immune to any distress or sadness. We are taught to look up to the people we want to be like as if they can do no wrong and we are made believe in an all-powerful, all loving being who can also do no wrong. We are made to believe that our life is set out for us and we have no bearing on the direction or outcome of each and every day. All of these societal biases lead us down a path that make us compare the worst in ourselves to the best we see in others and that is what makes us feel less powerful, more jealous and more insecure. We put our lack of success down to not being the chosen one and we often say we don't have the resources. We have thoughts like, "well if I grew up like him/her, I'd have done even more than they have". But the question is rarely about a lack of resources but a lack of resourcefulness. Although success and happiness should not be determined by achievement, we are made believe that the best at their craft are the happiest and that they live life in a bubble which is all roses and glory. I can't say it isn't as I am not the best at any of my crafts, but the more I learn and listen to other successful people, the more I realize that they are no different to you or me in that they battle with the same self-defeating thoughts as we do.

Nobody Is Perfect!

So how exactly does one deal with this unhealthy comparison? I would recommend being mindful about the fact that everyone is going through a battle that you know nothing about. I would also recommend being grateful as often as possible. Being grateful may sound a little woo woo and I know it will. The reason behind this is because "it can't be that simple" but there is a big difference between simple and easy to do. If, every morning you can write down three things you're grateful for, while trying not to repeat the same things in any three day stretch, you'll soon realize that the world is mostly a beautiful place to live in and we are simply looking in the wrong places for the wrong things and finding the wrong answers. If you continue to look toward the right things i.e. gratitude, you'll begin to notice more thing to be grateful for and you will see through your perceptual biases.

Stay hungry, stay humble.

Illusions (Dreams or Reality)

Staying Safe Around Bears - Bears (U.S. National Park Service)

Our bodies, and for that matter most living things, have special cells called sensory receptors; each sensory receptor detects its own special form of energy and transmits a signal to the brain.
The reception of the signal in the brain represents sensation. How the brain interprets these signals and makes them meaningful is called perception. Most of the time the interpretation of the received energy is consistent with it. Sometimes, however, our interpretation is incorrect. These misinterpretations are called illusions.

The lustrous and glamorous aspects of life is wanted and sought after by most human beings if not all. Imaginations run wild on how such extravagancy can be attained in the quickest position without a backlash. Illusion is something that is caused by outside influence.

Illusions can be misinterpreted as dreams and dreams as reality. A friend of yours suddenly drove in a car worth million or thousands in your currency and such was not expected of that person at that moment and you are speechless, jealous and envious reasoning how comfortable he looks and how well nourished he looks and walks at that moment you want to be like him and the illusion that it can be as easy to achieve too since he did it. What you don't know is the troubles, sleepless night, frustrations he would have had to endure silently to achieve what he did.

Being illusioned isn't always disadvantageous; it has its perks for those who know how to differentiate between illusions and reality.

Some advantages includes
1. Having a foresight into what your life could become in future

2. Establishing new goals or improving previously laid down goals

3. Setting up steps or procedures to achieving the goals no matter how impossible it might seem.

4. Knowing nothing is unattainable either in your dreams or in reality because illusions help you want to do the impossible.

5. Nothing that age, sex, culture, background have no barrier to achieving the success you crave.

Scientists are firm believers of every action having an equal and opposite reaction. Illusions has its disadvantages. Some of which are:
1. You become consumed with what the end result could be and you go through shortcuts that are not only too risky but also deadly

2. You want to achieve your end game in the quickest, fastest and easiest way possible

3. Make rash and unnecessary decisions in your haste to procuring your reality from dreams.

Illusions can be an individual's pull or push into becoming more or less but the most important is what he is she illusioned by.

Money, cars, houses, traveling around the world, being famous, a great leader, a great entrepreneur e.t.c. are luxuries everyone longs for at a certain point or all the time. Its an illusion of each individual to have a life of comfortable affluence but the illusion doesn't show you how to achieve them.

Illusions are not realities but a link between what you are presently and what you can achieve. Illusion is explained by our expectations, what life is and what life could be.

Space: Perception And Effect

Silhouette of Trees and Mountain Under Blue Starry Sky

Think about the word 'space' and our perception varies from person to person. As humans we desire for space. It shapes our personality and makes us unique. Not to forget the fact that we live in a country that is infused with a diverse culture and therefore it is inevitable that each cultural value will eventually shape our beliefs.

The world views space and structure mainly through visual elements. Therefore a brick, tree, door, window, and carpet are only a few visual elements that combine and allow us to experience space.

Remember space is all about perspective. So, depending on our position in society, we inhabit space differently. Every minute of our lives we are in physical dialogue with the space. The spaces we occupy directly influence our psychological well-being and creative output.

To elaborate more on this concept of space, we take a few examples to understand what space means to us.

At public bathrooms in restaurants/pubs/motels, our minds immediately switch to a defensive one where our prime notion of cleanliness and privacy is at an all time high. It is a 'necessity'. On the flip side, think about your home; it is one place where your defenses are off, and you're more relaxed. It is where your true identity is shaped.

We also see the importance of a simple queue. Instead of hoarding the counter, a queue restores sense of order in society by eliminating the class barrier. Similarly, a hotel room's main goal is to make you feel as if you're the first person to live in it. In offices, you're surrounded by white walls in square boxes. Your soft-board therefore when filled with personal memories such as a photograph or your kid's drawings, will create a sense of being close to your loved ones at all times, thus increasing productivity.

In terms of colour and the way space is used, the human mind reacts differently to situations. Say, you give a man a puzzle in a tight room, where the ceilings are low. He will complete the puzzle quickly, as there is a sense of "restriction". Similarly you feel more relaxed with the colour blue as it signifies open skies, vast oceans, and beaches, because airy like spaces help us feel free.

And finally, there is an 'escape' space, where for a few minutes or hours, one would wish to get out of the hands from 'family, colleagues and bosses'. It could be anything; a game on your phone, a walk in your area or simply get lost in your thoughts.

Therefore, to put it in simple terms, the psychology of space is the perfect interplay between the man and space.

Perception, Truth and Reality

Woman Using Vr Goggles

The virtual world has its own dimension subject to the perception of an individual's feelings, thinking and imagination. It is a fact that perception is deceptive, in a sense, that it is part reality and not the whole truth. It is a reality within its own concept because of what is perceived is yet again a reality of thought, feeling and deductions. However, it differs in many aspects from total reality. Those who perceived are not wrong until reality exposes by itself or exposed by any other means.

It is established beyond doubt that to achieve reality and truth, human beings should intend to thrive for a goal in life which revolves around righteous path. German philosopher Immanuel Kant believed that there was a supreme principle of morality, and he referred to it as 'The Categorical Imperative'; It has two forms:

  1. Behave in such a way that a reasonable generalization of your action to a universal rule will lead to a benefit to a generic person under this universal rule.
  2. Always treat others as ends and not the means.

A categorical imperative, although, denotes an absolute, unconditional requirement that must be obeyed in all circumstances and is justified as an end in itself. It is best known in its first formulation:

His argument substantiates his principle of morality and existence after death. He devised an argument from morality based on practical reason. Kant argued that the goal of humanity is to achieve perfect happiness and virtue (the summum bonum) and believed that an afterlife must exist for this to be possible, and that God must exist to provide this. He has substantiated unequivocally in his work that there is an existence beyond this materialistic world. It also proves that existence is meaningful provided it is based on morality, reality and truth.

Those who have not understood his theories, or those do not subscribe to his research and work experience, take a detour in the direction which satisfy their intentions. It is not necessary that they should either prove themselves right or they remained attached to their stubbornness and arrogance.

An English writer and philosopher Aldous Huxley say there are things known and there are things unknown, in between are the doors of perception. Thus, perception which depends upon feelings and partial reality is guided by the fact that there are a reality and truth which substantiate the perception. It then exposes many vistas of truth and reality, thereby leading to 'The Categorical Imperative.' It will lead to absolute and a firm believe that existence has an end, it means there is a transformation from this realm into another. In other words, paving the way to metaphysical realm, which again proves the Absolute Reality of God.

There is a difference between reality and truth too. It is defined that in physics term, reality is the totality of the universe known and unknown. The reality alone is unique in its existence, but indirectly needs truth to withstand among doubts and confusion. The reality and truth are interdependent of each other to substantiate facts and phenomenon within its meaning and context. One cannot eliminate reality and truth from each other to substantiate perception. Therefore, it becomes an eternal triangle within this limited sense to reveal and substantiate a fact.

People must exercise caution when exploring the words and their meanings. A person can read is a reality, but he never read is a truth. Since he never reads (at least in front of others) does not mean that he is an illiterate. Although it sounds ambiguous to others, yet it is a reality. Hence the perception, truth and reality are existing in a realm of virtuosity and absolute factuality. We must dive deep into the subject within and outside the context to comprehend absolute truth and total reality. At this stage the perception becomes a reality and truth leading human beings to achieve dizzy height of success and total satisfaction.

Don't Take Anything Personally: Three Suggestions

There's no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing.

When I ask workshop participants and coaching clients what they're hoping to gain from our work together and we begin to write down goals, they often say they want to learn how not to take the conflict personally. It's a very common theme.

I look at this a lot, because I want that, too. In Don Miguel Ruiz's insightful book, The Four Agreements, one of the agreements he suggests we make with ourselves to have a happier life is just this:"Don't Take Anything Personally."

Benjamin Zander, author, motivational speaker, and conductor of the Boston Philharmonic, often quotes his father as saying, "There is no such thing as bad weather, only inappropriate clothing."

I live in New Hampshire where winter can make each day a challenge. And, especially when I have to travel in snow and ice,I can even take the weather personally!

So how to we actually do it--not take things personally?

Personally, here's what I do.

1) I reframe

I reframe it as not personal. Even when it seems to be, even when it hurts, I remember it isn't about me. People do what they do because of who they are, not because of who you are. For example, when I imagine other ways the person might have behaved, I understand they chose this particular option because of their background, worldview, or perception of me, which may or may not be accurate.

2) I stop assuming

I stop assuming I know anything about them. Assuming I know someone else's motives is a kind of judgment of them, and I've found that assumptions and judgments of others' motives is a trap--for them and for me. So I try to stay proactive with my inner and outer responses. And if their motives are disingenuous or malicious, I find out more quickly and can take steps to keep myself out of harm's way. I might choose to avoid them or engage them in dialogue about the impact of their actions.

3) I stay curious

I stay curious about myself and the situation. I notice the assumptions I'm making and the reactions I'm about to have. Maybe my assumptions are accurate, and maybe they aren't. What appears as anger directed at me may be general frustration at an unexpected outcome. When my family member says, "You never listen to me," I can choose to hear it as a criticism or a call for support. I respond differently depending on how I choose.

On the wall in the waiting room of my health care provider hangs a sentence written by Plato over two centuries ago: "Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle." As you move into the new year, resolve to notice when you're making it personal, and see if it's more purposeful to make a different choice. We invent life moment to moment. Invent it with clarity of intention.

Deeper Perception - What to Do With It?

The ancient mariners navigated their sea route at night by the stars. These tiny twinkling bits of knowledge high in the night time sky offer useful information. The same could be said for our spiritual journey. Likewise, navigation is important for finding a path for the soul. We need higher knowledge intuitively perceived. Something that provides deeper perception than the facts of science can provide.

This deeper perception might be an insight that comes during self-reflection. Or perhaps it is an intuition we become aware of during meditation. Alternatively, it could be an idea found in sacred writing.

It can be assumed that seeing what is good and true can help us steer a course through the complexities of life. Possibly enable us to find meaning and purpose in our troubles. Even offer encouragement and hope.

But is this certain? Is deeper perception of itself sufficient for transforming our lives?

Examples of deeper perception
I may pick up on the idea that there are two realms of reality - a realm of physical objects and a realm of consciousness or spirit, not limited by space or time. As a result, I may toy with the thought. Play around with it. Bring it into conversation. Moreover, I might even use it as a working hypothesis.

An intuition may come whilst meditating. For example, the sense of the oneness of all life; everything somehow connected; an essence of reality behind outward appearance. This insight may stay or depart.

Huge variety of spiritual knowledge and awareness
The world is teeming with tiny seeds of wisdom. We wake up to them again when we hear them clearly articulated.

Another deeper perception is self-knowledge. For example, knowing about one's own strengths and weaknesses, successes and failings, dreams and fears. One weakness might be winning arguments, gaining status and impressing people without being concerned about the consequences. Personal development means living with consideration and integrity.

In line with the notion of karma, it is said that sooner or later we get what we give - what goes round comes round.

Realising the importance of compassion for oneself and for other people is another example. This is related to the so-called Golden rule. Wilson Van Dusen (mystic and clinical psychologist) has pointed out that a form of this idea is found in various religions.

  • Do to others as you would have them do to you (Christianity)
  • What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow man (Judaism)
  • No one is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself (Islam)
  • Do not do unto others what would cause you pain if done unto you (Hinduism)
  • Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful (Buddhism)
  • Regard your neighbours gain as your own gain and your neighbour's loss as your own loss (Taoism)

Our response to deeper perception
In the Bible Jesus told a story about a farmer scattering seeds. First of all some seeds fell on the path and the birds came and ate them up. A number fell on shallow soil and withered in the sun because they had no root. Some fell among thorns which choked the growing plants. Other seed fell on good soil where it produced a large crop.
Swedenborgian writer, Edward Mitchel, says our minds are like soil, which differ according to our willingness to nurture seeds of wisdom.

The path
Some people are like the hard ground of the path. They have an outward opposition to higher principles. As a result they have no interest in spiritual ideas that casually enter into thought. Consequently, the seed of truth does not sink in.

Shallow soil
Some of us may be like the shallow ground. We might become rapid converts to new ideas to us of writers in spirituality and religion. We may become quite emotional or argumentative in their favour. But a superficial interest, in discovering what is meaningful, is not deep enough to survive the trials of putting ideas - say about mindfulness, self-restraint or compassion - into practice. Also needed is a willingness to be more patient, less greedy and more concerned for others.

Thorns
Some of us have plenty of thorns in our makeup. Thorns have the advantage in being native to the soil. They are at home in it. And so, in our natural minds, worldliness and self-centeredness finds a hospitable home and thrives. Consequently, when we allow these pleasure-seeking and self-serving thoughts to rule our life, we become indifferent to the seeds of the spiritual life which can no longer grow.

Good soil
The story goes on to say some seed falls on good soil and produces a large crop. Within us an openness of heart enables us to connect with the light of what is deeply inspiring. Also, there is a willingness to put higher awareness of what is good and meaningful into practice.

Summary about deeper perception
There are many ways we can gain deeper perception. For instance, during counselling, self-reflection, meditation, contemplation, listening to ethical ideas, observing nature, reading sacred writing, hearing about religious teachings etc.

However, I believe deeper ideas and insights of themselves do not amount to enlightenment but they are a necessary precursor to it. Spiritual knowledge and awareness are merely the beginning of wisdom.

The process of enlightenment depends on how we personally respond to higher perception. Do we truly listen? Do we act on it? Or do we allow it to get drowned out by the concerns of self and materialism?

Better Quality of Life: How Having a Positive Attitude Can Help You Achieve It

Couple Kissing Baby While Carry

Usually, the term "quality of life" is used for people who are hurdling towards the finish line of this race we call life. So why am I using it now? Well, ask yourself how much time you have left. You can probably estimate how many years until you reach old age, but, in reality, there is no guarantee you will actually reach it.

Next, I want you to think back to your earliest memory. How long ago was that? I'm not asking for the number of years, I'm asking how far back does it feel? Has your life up until now passed in the blink of an eye or does it feel like an eternity?

My point is, no-one knows how much time they have left, so the term "quality of life" should be used for us all. Moreover, if it affects everyone, everyone should know - or at least want to know - how to improve it. One way to do that, is with a positive attitude. Here's why.

You have control

A lot of the time, people blame the negative events in their life for their reduced quality of life. They have a victim mentality, giving away their control. Sure, bad things that are out of your control may happen from time to time, but it's not these events that dictate your life, it's how you react to them. With a little bit of training, you will be able to control such reactions. However, control isn't all you need, the ability to make the right choice in reactions is just as important.

If you have a negative attitude and think that the whole world is against you, you are more likely to make a bad decision. The opposite happens when you have a positive attitude.

Your perceptions change

Our perceptions are based on our beliefs, which, in-turn, come from our experiences. Ironically, our experiences are based on our perceptions. It goes round and round and round. Hence, people who think bad things are always happening to them, always have bad things happen to them. Luckily, there is a way to alter this pattern. Your attitude.

By applying a positive attitude to focus on the good things in life, the bad things slowly lose their significance. In this way, a bad event may result in a few good things learned. Those few good things reduce the scale of the bad event, which leads to perceived decrease in the effects of the event. Your perception changes, so your experience changes, then your belief changes, creating a better perception for the next event.

Positive Attitude = Positive Quality of Life

Before long, your perception of life will be positive. You will naturally focus on the positive aspects of any events that occur in your life. The ratio of good to bad things that happen to you will increase, therefore, creating the belief that your life is mostly positive. And a positive life is a good quality life.

Learning to have a positive attitude can be hard though. Especially if you are already set in your ways about life giving you lemons. One thing I found that helped me a lot was learning about the power of thoughts.

Privileged to Be Empowered

We live in a world that demands our best everyday. To ensure that we embrace the spirit that makes it all possible requires focus refocus and refinement. Drive is necessary and should have direction. Drive without direction will keep you going nowhere. The advantages that come along with privilege come with a price. The price of privilege is measured by the intensity of your efforts. Effort equating to result is not a physics or math problem. There are those that will equate privilege with having all of the finest things that life has to offer. I would not disagree. Having substance is not a bad thing. Substance does not guarantee the life that was intended for you though. Perception is a key. How you see things determines your faith. When your substance is the byproduct of your efforts it defines who you are and what you are made of. When you believe it's possible you are on the right track. Mark 11:24 "Therefore I tell you whatever you ask in prayer believe that you have received it and it will be yours." The price of empowerment is worth the investment.

When you believe in you, achievements are the natural procession. Every plant started with a seed. Nurturing that seed guarantees it will grow. Mathew 13:8 states "Still other seed fell on good soil, where it produced a crop a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown." The next verse is, "he with ears let him hear." You are as important as you want to be. Your efforts should be intense and true. To be convicted in what you believe and that belief is based on what's inside you and what life has taught you, is strength attained through faith and effort. Faith without effort is not faith and effort without faith will keep you spinning your wheels. Universal law teaches just as good as it can be it can be just that bad. Intellect and freewill allows us to choose. Situations or circumstances do not define you. It's what you choose to do about those situations and circumstances that define you. Life has offered more gifts than we realize we have. The road to realizing and acknowledging these gifts is our opportunity to forward these gifts. The more we believe the more we open ourselves to receive. The more we receive the more privileged we become by continuing to pass that gift on.

The reason the seed that fell on good soil produced more than was expected was the nurturing and attention to detail. Focus and faith dictated the situation. They are key ingredients to an empowered life. Life is not discriminatory it offers the same for all. The day you were born and day you pass. It's what we do between these lines that will determine the effect of our privilege. Life has always offered more than we take advantage of. The opportunities to achieve are only as relevant as we choose to make them. No man, who continues to add something to the material, intellectual and moral well-being of the place in which he lives, is left long without proper reward. Enjoy and respect the privilege of empowerment.

Living a Purposeful Retired Life Depends on Your Attitude (By Wendy Fisher)

MY REFLECTIONS on a Purposeful Retired Life, to be used as YOUR OWN AFFIRMATION... if not, rewrite it and use it until your thoughts and attitude changes! Best Wishes!

As a retiree, When I view the world with a positive attitude, good things happen. I see more opportunity everywhere. I am blessed!

My door is half open. Because I see the door as half open, I believe it is opening instead of closing. This is my decision. Many view that door (and life opportunities) as closing, but I choose to see it opening instead.

I see many opportunities in life to help others, becoming purposeful in my retired world. I enjoy helping others, and that gives me purpose to my days.

Optimism is perception.

I begin to view life in this same manner.

  • My glass is half full, new friendships are beginning to take form, tasks are being completed, new adventures are just around the corner, and life is good.
  • Each day, I move closer to my retirement goals. I enjoy new challenges because obstacles are meant to be overcome. I help others with simple phone calls to find help for my retiree friends. I take the initiative to contact whomever is needed to find solutions to life challenges.

My perception, in turn, affects those around me. Instead of letting the door close, I hold it open for others. I encourage them to view opportunities in a new, positive light.

Every open door is an opportunity, regardless of how much it is open. I choose whether this door is meant for me, or someone else. I have control over my life to make such decisions - while continuing to help those around me.

Challenges are like doors. When I find myself in front of a closed door, I am certain that I can figure out how to open it. If the door is locked, I search for the key. Maybe I have the key. Sometimes, I need to ask others for the key. I do the work necessary to open that door.

Today, I perceive everything with a positive attitude. Each task, opportunity, or challenge is a door half open, and it is up to me to walk through.

As Nancy Sinatra said long ago: "These boots are made for walking... "

Self-Reflection Questions:

  1. How do I overcome negative perceptions (both mine and those of others)?
  2. Who inspires me to think positive?
  3. How can I inspire others to be optimistic?

Truth Doesn't Have Versions

The sky is falling - the sky is falling. The earth is flat. We are all going to die in this storm. The end of life as we know it will happen this year. Give me a break. Just because the speed limit is 70 MPH - I don't have to go that fast. Just because the expiration date on my eggs is three days past doesn't mean I have to throw them away. Made my point yet or would you like twenty-five more examples (just kidding)?

Yes, I accept that some things I don't like or agree with are true but I also know that some things you believe are true are not - so - does the wind blow in both directions? Well yes. So, why then can't some people accept what is true when there is more than enough evidence and why do so many people live their lives in the realm of lies and obvious truths? I don't have 200 pages to deal with this so I'll do my best with just a few hundred words.

So, what is truth - truth is most often used to mean being in accord with fact or reality or fidelity to an original or standard. Truth may also often be used in modern contexts to refer to an idea of "truth to self," or authenticity. Need more? Want more? Truth - fact, veracity, certainty, actuality, reality. FYI - Truth isn't - opinion, impression, interpretation, estimation, judgment, belief, experience - Got this one too?

Therefore, I have three questions -

1) why do people act like their opinion etc. is the truth?

2) Why do people work so hard to convince others that their version of truth is the
only one or the only one that matters or the only one that you or I should believe?

3) How many facts (reality do we need) to know what is true or not true.

Is - gravity a truth?

Is - physical death a truth?

Is - the fact that change is constant a truth?

OR,

Is - the weather is crappy today a truth?

Is - the service in this establishment is really bad a truth?

Is - this "__________" (whatever) you believe a truth?

Is - this technology is really slow a truth?

Again - got it?

So, back to my questions.

Why do people act like their opinion etc. is the truth? Everything in life is a perception - the weather, time, health, food etc. In other words - This corn is too hot. No, it isn't! This movie is too long. Maybe yes and maybe no. That color is too dark. See where I'm going with this? Ever had an argument or disagreement with someone?

Sure, we all have. What caused it? Very simply - two different opinions coming face to face with each other - when only one could win but both were not necessarily true but you both believed that each of yours were true as far as the two of you were concerned. All conflict is the result of perceptual interpretation not based on truth and why - because truth does not have to be defended if it is real truth. When people can't let go of the need to justify opinions, attitudes, decisions, actions, feelings etc. that might be inconsistent with truth it is generally because of one of the following exists; the need for control, ego needs, arrogance, low self-esteem, insecurity or early conditioning that caused them to feel they need to get others approval in order to achieve self-acceptance and the way they do this is by being right.

Why do people work so hard to convince others that their version of truth is the only one or the only one that matters or the only one that you or I should believe or accept? A lot of this stems from the previous discussion but for clarity I will add a couple of other items. One is called projection. This is simply a refusal to accept a certain type of self-behavior and implying others of having the behavior that you have but refuse to acknowledge, admit or accept. In other words - "I am always late but can't admit it but I always blame you for being late whether you are or are not."

Another one is expanding on something or just making things up that aren't true. I want others to think I am successful so I create a self-story that over time I come to believe as true. Even if you know me well and know what I say about myself isn't true, I will still boast about these untruths as if they were true. Actually, you would be quite amazed at how many people have this behavior.

How many facts (reality do we need) to know what is true or not true.

Well, if you see a lose wire coming from a generator you might want to avoid it. If you see a red-hot grill you might not want to touch it. How many facts do you need to avoid these disasters? Probably just one. If you want to know if Heaven is for real you might need a few more facts. But here's the real issue when it comes to truth. Some things, many things might be or could be true, but we don't know it because we don't have enough information to make a decision. If this is true just because we lack evidence doesn't mean something is or isn't true. Think about it. For years people believed the earth was flat until what - someone figured out that it wasn't. But, many people continued to believe in this untruth because they lacked wisdom, knowledge or information. The same is true today. Could many things be untrue today that we just don't know are untrue but still believe they are? And the opposite. Could many things we believe are not true actually be true?

I'm done with my opinions - so what do you think about what you just read? Truth? Opinion? Blah, Blah, Blah?

Message From the Universe: You've Got the POWER!

"Ever notice that in the long run those who don't eventually go "within," often go "without"?

You've got the power,
The Universe"

Everything starts from within. If you want to see changes in the world, you can't expect others to do the work and you do nothing. There is always an equal give and take in everything you do. If you expect others to change, you need to start taking a good look at yourself and make appropriate changes. Being self-aware of who you are is already a good start in this journey to become a better person from within. We all have our own struggles, hence, the reason why you need to treat everyone you meet with utmost respect. We all have our own demons and can be difficult to deal with negativity on a daily basis because of others polluting your mind with their own problems. It is OK to share some discontent with others but keep in mind that they are also dealing with their own issues and battles. If you are looking for a solution to your problems, look from within. Learn how to cope with these issues and be willing to go out there and find the solution for yourself. No one else can better help you than yourself. Always keep this in mind.

It is crucial to always look at the good side to everything. You can't allow that one bad thing happening to you to dictate your feelings and emotions. Once it passes, dust yourself off and move forward. There will be other bad days that you will need to deal with but the key is when you face these new challenges, you need to change your perception and behavior towards these challenges and keep calm when looking for solutions. If you allow your emotions to control your behavior, I am sure that the outcome will end up leaving you depressed and angry. You will then create a momentum of negative events occurring in your life and the cycle will never end. How to break out of this cycle? Change yourself from within, and the without will follow.

Feelings Aren't Facts

Often there may be a distortion, be it big or small, regarding how we see ourselves, others, or our lives in general. This distortion, or as I call it, the story we tell ourselves, frequently leads to emotional pain, increased anxiety, and potentially depression. That is because feelings aren't facts.

The phrase, feelings aren't facts, is commonly used in 12-step programs, yet it is profoundly true for all of us. This phrase uses the term, feelings, in such a way that it is not about emotions such as sadness, grief or anger. Instead it refers to our beliefs, perceptions, interpretations and thoughts. It speaks to the ways in which we experience ourselves, or others, in a subjective way.

Perception is Reality

When we say, for example, "I don't feel good enough." How could this statement not create further unease? Although others in our world may perceive us as amazing, or more than good enough, it is what we tell ourselves, even if it is not a fact, that emotionally distresses us.

This may be further exacerbated by making comparisons based on our assumptions about other people. We may tell ourselves, "That woman has got it all together. Look at her. How come I don't?" This story may also not be a fact, yet because we believe it is, it may further exacerbate, or contribute, to the wearing away of our self-esteem.

Fact or Fiction

When we operate from a place of misconception, distortion, or fiction, then we walk through the world from this place. This can produce a distortion of ourselves, of other people in our lives, or the world in general. If we function from a place of fear, anxiety or anger our perception of reality can be tainted with negativity. These painful feelings, although triggered by non-facts, can still ultimately affect us.

Another person's comment may remind us of something that occurred in our history. Accusations and judgements that occurred in our childhood, or adolescence, that were not resolved may influence our interpretation of circumstances in our current lives. The other person, and even ourselves, may have no idea this unresolved issue has influenced our perception unless this interaction is explored or clarification is sought.

We Believe What We Perceive

Our internal process, or how we internally experience or interpret something, is often more about our history as opposed to what the other person may truly mean. The stories we tell ourselves about what the other person means may negatively affect the relationship.

Often we use the word feeling for what is not a feeling. For example, I feel that you are accusing me of lying. It is important to differentiate this thought from the feelings that are triggered by it.

The Lifestyle

If I want to describe what the lifestyle is, I do not have a dictionary, but I have a thesaurus in my word processor, so that will have to suffice. Also, this is how I perceive a lifestyle according to my own lifestyle, and I will try to be as objective about it as possible. I think that a lifestyle is what you are, what makes you into the person you are. The words available in my thesaurus is; existence, routine, life, regime, way of life, standard of living, daily life and means.

If I had to choose one of those words, I would choose way of life and standard of living. Because your way of life describes your lifestyle perfectly. So, it describes the way you live, or how you live you live your life. Your standard of living affects how you perceive the people around you. And because of your standard of living, you will judge people accordingly. It also affects your perception of life in general and your way of thinking. Your standard of living also affects your perception of right and wrong.

So, what you consider as right could be considered wrong by other people. So, if you have a lifestyle where you have a job working in the corporate system, and you go to work from seven to five every day to support your family, then for you, this is the right thing to do. For you, it is right to own a luxury house and a fancy car, to have four children at school and a wife also working to support your finances, then for you, which is the right thing to do. If other people don't live according to your perceptions of what is right and wrong, then for you, it is wrong. Even though other people feel differently, and they live differently to your standard of living, and their lifestyle agrees with them that it is right for them to live like that, they think that your way of living is wrong. But neither is right nor wrong, it's all about each person's perception.

So, each person has its own lifestyle, or standard of living, and you live according to how you perceive your life. There are also so many influences on your lifestyle, besides how you already perceive how life should be lived. The main influencers in your life are your parents. At a young age, they taught you their way of life, which has been carried along by you, so you tend to live according to what your parents taught you. Other influencers in your life are religion. You live according to your religion, be it Christianity, Muslimism, Hinduism, and whatever other religion you find in this world. Religion is a lifestyle because you will live according to their standards of living, according to their laws and regulations and according to their perceptions of right and wrong. I hope this is making sense for you; I'm just trying to be objective and explain it as best as I can. My next task will be to try to explain the alternative.
