My Vegan Journey: 11 Months Of Self Improvement And The Law Of Attraction (By Debbie Frye)

On my birthday last year in February, I gorged myself on a cake from a local shop that made homemade cakes from scratch. It was so good I could not get enough and I ate for the next couple of days with some help, but I was killing it!

I had been a Pescatarian for almost a decade and was happy that I had stopped eating animals, and was doing my part to help save their lives and improve my own at the same time as well. A strange thing happened to me three days after my birthday though. I woke up and decided to go vegan. Just like that.

And So The Journey Began

I started down a road of self-discovery, and self-improvement. I watched documentaries and read books on the subject of the law of attraction. I read the Kybalion. I made a vision board of fruit and veggies and put it on top of my television But I did not stop there. I researched subjects on plant-based lifestyles and their benefits. I started to get interested in learning other subjects also. It was like something inside of me turned on and I was plugged into the great web of information and I could not absorb enough knowledge or learn fast enough.

I started watching anything to do with the conscious mind, and how it works. I got into Quantum Physics and was intrigued by "the double slit experiment proving how thoughts can change an outcome, which led me to Spirituality and Spiritual Awakenings. And my life was starting to make all kind of sense to me. Now I wanted to start traveling and see the world. Ancient history was becoming very important to learn about, and their knowledge was on the same path I was on. I learned how to meditate and since August of last year, I faithfully do it daily.

I began to care for myself from the inside out, first by letting go of people in my life that was fake and not conducive to my growth, I just let them go. I stopped watching the news because they lie and only tell you what they want you to believe. It is a distraction from what is truly important in life. My eyes were beginning to open, wide! I started to exercise regularly and drink mostly water, the higher the ph balance the better. I learned about intermediate fasting and have incorporated this into my life daily. I am thinking more clearly, sleeping better and my creativity had flourished.

I am an Artist. I always dreamt of having my work up in a gallery for people to come and see. I paint when I am in the zone and let the paintbrush just flow with all of the colors of paint. Money being tight, I would paint on pizza boxes because it was free This year my thoughts have created my world! A friend bought me an artist's easel and canvases. Friends and family bought me more canvases, paint and art supplies, even information on calls to local artists to exhibit their work! I have had my paintings in a gallery and even sold one almost immediately this Summer.

Lastly, I have just purchased a round trip ticket to go to visit Germany, which has been on my bucket list forever. My life is wonderful and I am truly grateful. I just wanted to share in hopes that someone out there gets inspired to make changes that will help get you to be your best self as well. It's never too late. Thank you.

Boundless and Free

Person Standing on Grass Field While Opening Hands

Every now and then it is good to evaluate if you feel that you are living a lucky life. If the answer to that question is yes, than by all means continue living the path you are on. However, if you answered no to feeling lucky, then perhaps it is time to rethink the direction you are going. Luck is defined by the Merriam-Webster dictionary as "a force that brings good fortune or adversity" When the majority of life events that happen feel positive, then a person feels lucky. On the other hand, a person may feel unlucky when more bad than good things happen. However, this is a very shallow way of viewing situations. I like the title of Tom Brokaw's book, which was written after he was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. He named it: "A lucky Life Interrupted". The book title implies that for the most part, life has been lucky, but now there is something going on that is unpleasant to deal with, that feels unlucky but, that his luck will return. But perhaps this cancer scare actually was the luckiest thing that ever happened to him.

Why do I say this? Because I believe we are here to wake up to our spiritual selves and to transmute any notion that we are simply these bodies, minds and personalities as a myth we were taught that is not true. We are vast and expansive beings who existed before birth and will continue to exist beyond death. We are here on Earth to open both our hearts and our minds to our greater consciousness. Perhaps the gift of cancer helped Tom Brokaw to connect more deeply with his family and to find more of who he is beyond his work. Loss of health, wealth, friends, fame or intellect can be a blessing rather than a curse. When we are able to shout to the universe as spiritual teacher Matt Kahn says "Use me as your vessel of consciousness. Light and love and take all that you want" we are putting aside our definitions and ideas of what we want or need to feel or look good, and instead open to our infinite selves, trusting the process of the universe.

When I shift my consciousness to this larger lens, I am able to reframe bad things as gifts from the soul. Matt Kahn said in an inspirational talk, "Adversity comes into our lives to take and take and take. So that once you have nothing to lose, spiritual awakening has the room to move into you and wake up the entire universe within the space of your body." In this frame of mind, adversity or bad luck is not seen as bad, but rather as a benevolent conduit to enable a person to let go and open up to the magnificence of their soul self which is beyond how many houses they own, degrees they have, how perfect their body looks, or who they are connected to.

We are here to be free, not trapped in this human illusion of life. For us to be free, we have to be willing to lose everything we have to the spiritual fire of our divine consciousness. We must release our bondage and attachment to external means of identification like money, health, relationships and pride associated with self, family, friends, work and service. Who we truly are is greater than all these and just like the wave returns to the ocean, our soul returns to the sea of consciousness, boundless, wild and free.

Our lives may be far luckier than we ever realized if we could simply see through our soul's lens. Next time you hear yourself saying "Oh darn, how unlucky!" remember to give thanks for the blessing of another false part of your true self being purged away and celebrate the opportunity to release what is not really you. You deserve to live a lucky life and this includes both good fortune and adversity.

Catharsis and the Creative Process

Person Coloring Art With Crayons

Creativity is the most intense path to catharsis. The mind must connect to the emotions and form an idea into a physical shape such as a book or painting. The mind and the emotions must unite into a single line of intention that fills the work of art completely. Similarly, the artist's body and his equipment must become one in a singular creative purpose.

Whether it's a new recipe, clothing design, or symphony, the creation must receive and retain the full intention of your concentrated effort. The result of any act of creation should always be the physical form of an aesthetic desire, which is the drive to see something become real that only exists in your imagination.

Every creative idea an artist can conceive of has an energetic center of gravity that pulls similar energies like it towards itself. So as we fill an aesthetic product with our desire to make it real, it forms a vacuum within us that is steadily filled with more ideas similar to the original. The human experience of this creative vacuum is felt as a surge of inspiration or illumination in spiritual circles. Others report it as a spiritual awakening, the seeing of transcendental visions, or catharsis.

As the inspiration fills us, it disturbs our balance of mind by generating wild undercurrents in our consciousness that eventually must find resolution in our work. This experience has many names because no one really knows it's true source, so each person attributes it to the source they most deeply value. But whatever the source, supernatural, extraterrestrial, or earthly, the human mind is the vehicle or conduit for the creativity that is flowing through them. To channel the complete creative desire into art is the nature of our work as artists.

To tap into this stream of creativity, the artist must treat his work as if it were a ritual or ceremony that deserves his utmost respect. He must enter a state of relaxed concentration and allow the ideas to pour through him and connect to his emotions in order to translate them into artistic products. Sometimes the creative stream is light, heavy, or overwhelming depending on many factors such as the time of day, our mood, the seasons, and our level of skill, but neither resistance nor total acceptance will prevent the eventual burst of catharsis, which restores balance to the mind.

The more expertly and efficient the artist can work, the quicker they can complete each product and prepare it for distribution. In the end, the ultimate goal for most artistic endeavors is to form our creativity into a physical shape. All of the objects that fill our world have been brought to us through the creative process and the work of human beings to make it solid and real.

For musicians, the goal is to shape an idea, message, or emotional experience with sound and solidify it in a recording. For an author, the goal might be to formulate a plot line complex enough to keep the readers guessing, while permitting various clues to surface throughout the story that make the readers believe they know who did it or what's going to happen next. For the entrepreneur, the goal will be to manufacture the good or develop the service to reach a targeted set of customers or clients. And for a singer, the goal could be to present lyrics with the correct balance between technical delivery, emotional display, and theatrics.

As the facet of our creative energies must be opened and closed for each work of our imagination, you must complete the creative process with the belief that the work you have done has assumed the physical shape of the idea you had been operating towards, and that there's nothing more inside of you to put into it. With balance of mind restored, the cathartic release subsides, and allows you to review the work you have just completed. The law of catharsis requires that you consider it done and never return to it again.

Understand This Mindset: Spiritual Retreat

Life to a spiritual retreat, various people went to a holy place to fulfill the spiritual retreat. In the city of Cotabato in the Philippines, every year two radio stations do not broadcast their regular programs from Thursday to Saturday because staff members make a spiritual retreat. Many people who go to a spiritual retreat during the Week of Semana Santa. But judging the effects of these retreats in their lives, they show to be unaware of spiritual awakening during these retreats. They bring in the same way of living before and after their spiritual retreats. You can experience a range of spiritual or religious highs. But nothing has happened in their depths. This article narrates how to use the spiritual retreat to experience the spiritual awakening.

Do you own a specific goal for your spiritual retreat?

The first thing you need to do to experience spiritual excitement during a retreat is to own a specific goal if you enter this work. It does not matter if your supervisor or a Human Resources employee will lead you to a spiritual retreat. If you do it yourself, ready a specific goal to plan your spiritual retreat.

Their goal, how to change your life for the better. This is the overall aim. Have a better spiritual retreat experience, come in a specific goal. For example, you may want to set a goal to prepared to stop smoking. Or his goal is to read one gospel effective in the retirement age. Or this may be the case for personality improvement. Whatever in mind, make it specific.

Get the fraction for a moment to talk to your god. Second, it's time to talk to your God, whether he or whatever you think of it.

Overall, a retreat has a series of teacher lectures or movable movers and meditations for participants. Again, consider it during the lecture period of your retired professor of god. For example, if you are listening to conversations, you can say to your God, I will make this talk in action very much.

I said "your God," because each of us has a different theory of God, whether we are complete Christians or Muslims. Buddhists do likely God similar Christians and Muslims. Atheists or unbelievers own the true notion of God they denied. Deny nothing. There is a theory of God that you have denied. Talk to this god during the retreat.

Then, in contemplation, tell your God of everything that reaches into your spirit. In this way, you associate with the rules beyond yourself, if you are not yet, and the growth becomes an opportunity for spiritual awakening for you.

Write a record of your thoughts

Third, write a report on your reflections on a good notebook. I realize that many during the retreat, people do not write. They listen to the speaker and do the exercises they make, such as singing and posture exercises, but they do not write.

If you do not write in your mind, it means you have no record of it, and there is no easy way to remember the thoughts later. Meanwhile, if you write it down, you can read it later and see how your life has improved since the retreat. In that way, you will see how your life has grown since then. And if you do not see the improvement, you can make the necessary changes to continue the journey to eternity. In this way, you will know whether you are awake spiritually or not, or if your spiritual thoughts progress if you have experienced a spiritual awakening.

These are the means to effectively use retreats to inspire you spiritually: there is a purpose, talking with your god of retreat, write your thoughts. Best of luck in your spiritual retreat!
