10 Tips for Looking Good Each Day

Some people think that looking good is about being perfectly groomed, as if from a glossy magazine. But some people look a little wild, quirky and dishevelled and yet something about them means they always look wonderful.

Here are tips for looking good each day:

- A ready smile and cheery disposition often feature high. Someone who's warm, friendly and enjoys life will radiate an inner glow and beauty.

- Be ready to say yes, be enthusiastic, join in and be willing to have a go. Attractive people often have a genuine interest in life. Have something in your diary to look forward to.

- Maintain a positive mindset by focusing on the good things that happen each day, even the small things like a stranger's smile, a compliment, the view from your window.

- Don't take things personally. Someone else's bad mood may be about stuff that's on their mind. Protect yourself from external stress.

- Look after yourself. Your health affects how you look. Exercise regularly, with breaks for nutritious food and water. Support good quality sleep; we all feel better when we've slept on a problem. Introduce positive habits; switch off your technology, allow time to relax before bed.

- Forgive yourself your shortcomings and mistakes. Value constructive criticism when a learning point's included. Treat yourself with the same compassion you would another person.

- Engage professional help to deal with any negative patterns of behaviour or issues you may have. A good counsellor or hypnotherapist can support you in becoming stronger and more confident.

- Accept help. Let friends, family or colleagues provide support, ideas and input. It may be appropriate to ask for help sometimes. Communicate regularly and invest time and attention in your relationships.

- Consider your appearance, the impression you give. We may have an everyday 'uniform' in order to dress quickly and look acceptable. Impartially assess your style. Do you need to refresh your image, your makeup? Visit a different hairdresser or barber so you're styled by a fresh pair of eyes.

- Do things that make you happy. Read a book, enjoy a hobby or interest. Listen to music or join a stimulating evening class. Things that make you happy help you to look better.

Looking good comes not just from being clean, tidy and well-groomed. It's also important to invest time and attention in your mental and emotional wellbeing too.

The Best Way to Look Good Each Day

Some people think that looking good is about being perfectly groomed, wearing the latest fashions and appearing as if you've just stepped from the pages of a fabulous magazine. But there are many people who fulfill none of those criteria, who may even look a little wild, quirky and dishevelled at times and yet something about them means they always look great.

What does it take to look great, what is the best way to look good each day?

- Top of many people's attractive list is a ready smile and a cheery disposition. Someone who is warm, friendly and enjoys life generates an inner glow and radiance that lights up everything and everyone about them.

- Be someone who's prepared to say yes, who's enthusiastic, joins in and is willing to have a go. People who grab opportunities will most times look good because that mindset generates engagement and a readiness to live life to the full. Attractive people often have a genuine interest in life and what it brings.

- Start to develop good habits and maintain a positive mindset by focusing on the good things that happen each day, even the small things like a stranger's smile, a compliment, a thoughtful gesture, the view from your window. When you start to treasure the good in life the ensuing happier outlook will help you look better each day.

- Learn not to take things personally. Someone else's bad mood or unwarranted outburst may be because they have a situation of their own that needs to be dealt with. Reflect on what's happened, try to stand back from it a little and decide how to respond. When you detach yourself you can determine how to next proceed, as well as take care of how you want to feel afterwards.

- Look after yourself. Good health is a significant factor in looking good. Exercise regularly and follow a healthy regimen, with breaks for good food and plenty of water. The importance of sleep is often underestimated, but respect that quality sleep is a key part of processing the day's activities. We often feel better, have a more positive view of life when we've 'slept on it'. Many people work long hours and hope to catch up on their sleep at weekends or holiday times but try to introduce good habits; switch off your technology and commit to a couple of hours relaxation before bed. Wind down, sleep well and invest in looking good each day.

- Be gentle with yourself. Forgive yourself your shortcomings and mistakes. Yes, there may be issues and situations that need to be dealt with, things that are messy, that cause stress. Try to deal with them quickly; it's usually less stressful than was envisaged. Value constructive criticism. Decide if there's a validity to what's been said, a learning point you could benefit from. Treat yourself with the same compassion you would someone else, then give yourself credit for your gentler approach.

- Don't underestimate the role of professional help in dealing with your 'demons', negative patterns of behaviour or any issues you may have. Utilise a good counsellor or hypnotherapist and support yourself in becoming stronger and more confident. Reacting badly to stress, situations and other people can become a habit and sometimes we need help to change that and learn to cope better.

- Accept help. Let friends, family or colleagues provide support and be gracious about their ideas and input. You may even need to ask for help at times, suggest things that you need to make your life easier, especially if you've always been independent. But mutual support can improve relationships, generate new ideas and forge important bonds and connections. Communicate regularly and invest time and attention in your special relationships. Welcome the closeness and feel part of team you.

- Some people find that they're always in a rush in the mornings. They have so much to cram into the first hour of each day that they're already frazzled and out of sorts by the time they arrive at work. Going to better earlier may allow you to get up earlier, with time to start the day well. You could do some stretching, 30 minutes of yoga, maybe get off the bus a stop earlier and walk part of the way. Then you can take time and have a drink, maybe some breakfast and start the day with a more relaxed, positive frame of mind, looking better as a consequence.

- Reflect on how your appearance, the impression you give, the image you portray. Many of us adopt an everyday 'uniform' in order to dress quickly, fit in with our colleagues and go about our lives. We may shop intermittently for new items but answer honestly, if you really looked at yourself would you say 'wow, not bad' or 'could maybe do with a make over'! Try to impartially assess your style. Perhaps take a selfie. Are you a little dated, do you need to freshen your image or amend your look to suit your present lifestyle better? Makeup can be a factor too; many women wear the same look for years, yet most department stores employ makeup consultants who are only too happy to provide advice on updating your image. Visit a different hairdresser or barber and benefit from being styled by a fresh pair of eyes.

- Schedule in some fun. Some times of the year can seem more gloomy than others. If you're short of cash, on your own or overwhelmed with commitments there can seem to be little opportunity for fun anytime soon. Plan a get together, maybe once every few weeks or so, where you invite friends, neighbours, colleagues around for a catch up. It could be a games evening with cards or football, a bite of supper where everyone brings a bottle or dish or even a local concert or dance. Money doesn't need to be a major part of fun. Having people round for a coffee or going for a walk together can help you feel more positive, sociable and inject some sociability into your life. And having something in your diary to look forward to can really lift your spirits.

- Do things that make you feel happy. Even if you've only a little free time, try to ensure that you find a corner in your day where you read a book or enjoy a special hobby or interest. Maybe go to bed a little earlier and spend the time listening to music or find a stimulating evening class. When you find time for things that make you feel happy you'll find that you look better as a consequence.

Looking good comes not just from being clean, tidy and well-groomed. It's also important to invest time and attention in our mental and emotional well-being also.

Elle Macpherson's Secrets To Looking Good & Feeling Great At Any Age

It’s hard not to have a wellness woman crush on Elle Macpherson. The 51-year-old beauty glows without a hint of makeup. She’s been strong before it became the new skinny. And she's passionate about making wellness easier and more accessible.
Elle’s a longtime entrepreneur who started the trend of models moving from the catwalk to the boardroom. For 20 years, she collaborated with Bendon Lingerie on an eponymous intimate apparel line, which was the best-selling brand in the UK. She's recently taken the helm of the collection, brought on a new partner, and is planning for an August launch in the U.S

Her latest entrepreneurial venture is WelleCo, a line of alkalizing powders and supplements with big ambitions to become a lifestyle wellness brand creating beauty, home products, and more. Her signature product, The Super Elixir, is part of the booming nutricosmetics trend, which is the idea of nutritious products promoting health and beauty from within.
When I first met the native Aussie in her adopted hometown of Miami, the conversation spanned everything from pH strips (Elle's a fan), to where to get the best green juice in Miami (we concur that it's Jugo Fresh), to the stress of college admissions (she's a mom).
Here, she shares the tips and tricks that have guided her personally and professionally since her catwalk days and that are guiding her at WelleCo. Elle also shares her morning breakfast shake, which has just three ingredients.

A Q&A With The Well Model

Do you have a morning ritual?
I wake up 45 minutes to an hour before I need to get up. Before anything, I drink 500 mls of water and then I sit quietly with my back straight in a chair in the semi-darkness. I have a 33-day program of daily meditation that includes breathing and focus on a particular quality or value I would like to improve.
Sometimes, I do a guided meditation. I also read from a selection of books. I love to have a program pre-mapped out because I find it easier to stick to it over a longer period of time. Sometimes my practice will take as little as 10 minutes to complete. Sometimes I like to spend 40 minutes.
Any rules that you live by for a healthy body, mind, and soul?
Love, peace, happiness, and fulfillment — I make sure my choices support these intentions. If it doesn't fit, I don't persist.
What advice would you give your twenty-something self?
Wear sunscreen! A regret from when I was younger was that I didn’t protect my skin from the sun — even though I think I look better with a tan. I have plenty of freckles all over my body, and I haven’t done anything about it.
There’s no point in doing lasers because I’m in the sun all the time anyway, but I think sunblock is really important now. Always 50+ SPF. When I’m not in a bikini, I’ll wear surf leggings to protect my skin.

Best advice you've ever received?
Find co-dreamers who support your vision.
And the worst advice?
Models can't move from the billboard to the boardroom.
What do you love about being an entrepreneur?
I love the unexpected twists and turns on the journey as I realize my vision. It can feel daunting at times, challenging myself or taking steps forward into new territory, and I fear of the unknown.
But I don’t need to know the outcome. I just need to keep taking steps toward my goals that support my core values and intentions.
I love the saying "leap and watch the net appear."
Any go-to-supplements?
Without fail I take my daily Alkalising Greens. It is packed with goodness to boost nutrition, keep my body in an alkaline range and my energy levels up.
If I want to lighten up or I am looking for a nutritious snack, my Super Elixir Nourishing Protein is a winner. I use it as a meal replacement and a clean source of vegan protein if I am on-the-go. My favorite Breakfast Thick Shake recipe is below.
That’s it! I like to keep it simple — quality over quantity.

How do you break a sweat?
I make exercise part of my everyday life. I have a much simpler and gentler routine now. I prefer not to go to the gym; instead, I make sure I find at least 45 minutes in my day, usually for a sport outdoors, which is easy in Miami. I love to paddleboard, surf, swim, or water ski. I also love to hike or bike. I am more likely to stick to something I love and that fits into my life.
How has your health and wellness routine changed over time?
I’ve learned that an acidic body is out of balance. Today’s diet of processed food, sugar, alcohol, too much red meat, dairy, and coffee (especially for me!), combined with stress and lack of sleep can affect the way the body functions.
Why did you start WelleCo?
I was run down, stressed, gaining weight, and just feeling not good. Dr. Simone Laubscher introduced me to the concept of an alkaline diet, and it wasn’t until then that I hadn't really understood that my body was deprived from good nutrition and that my seemingly healthy lifestyle was actually acidic. And through nutrition, I was able to put my body back into an alkaline state and I felt better. I thought to myself,If I do most things right and I feel this bad, then what must it be like for everyone else who doesn't look after themselves? We created THE SUPER ELIXIR based on Dr. Laubscher’s years of practice as an easy, efficient, all-in-one, high-grade solution to getting back on the right track to wellness and feeling good on the inside.

Emotional State: Can Looking Good Allow Someone To Feel Good?

If one wanted to change how they feel, they could end up focusing on their appearance. There are a number of reasons as to why they would do this, and one reason is because of the society they live in.

In today's world, a lot of attention is placed on the external, and as a result of this, it can be normal for people to spend a lot of time on their appearance. This can even go one step further, and this means that it will be an obsession.

Following Others

Thus, if one was to focus on how they look, it is not going to be hard for them to find people who are doing the same thing. Along with this, they will also find that there are plenty of ways for them to change how they look.

On one hand, one could change their hairstyle or join a gym, for instance, and on the other hand, they could have some kind of cosmetic surgery. The route they take can all depend on what their current situation is.

Two Sides

However, even though one could be in a position where it might only be necessary for them to make a few minor alternations; they could believe that this is not the case. Based on this, other people could say that there is nothing wrong with how they look, but it is not going to be possible for them to accept this.

For example, one could believe that they need radically change their appearance, and this may even include having surgery. Now, while their friends could be saying they look fine to avoid upsetting them; they could be telling the truth.

A Different View

One way of looking at this would be to say that one is unable to see themselves clearly, and this then sets them to have an idea of themselves that doesn't match up with reality. And even if they were to change their appearance through having surgery, they may find that it doesn't have a lasting effect on how they feel.

Therefore, one could end up having something else done, and this whole process could go on and on. At the same time, there could be a reason for one to take this approach, and after having something done, they could feel so much better and that could be the end of it.

Thinking Things Through

What this shows is how important it is for one to take the time to think about whether it would be the right thing for them to do. And to also look into whether there is actually something wrong with their appearance as opposed to something wrong with what is taking place within them.

As if it does relate to what is taking place within them and not their appearance, they will save themselves a lot of pain by placing their attention on what is taking place within. This may cause one to experience more pain in the short-term, but it will save them a lot of pain in the long-term.

The General Approach

However, if one as to make a few minor changes, it might not be long until they start to look different. This will be the case if they were to change their hairstyle or to get a sun tan, for instance.

On the other hand, if they needed to lose weight, it is naturally going to take them a little while longer. Yet as long as they stick to a plan, the work they put in will soon pay off, and their health could also improve.

Feedback

Once their appearance changes, one may find that they start to feel different, and if they are in the process of losing weight, for instance, this will give them the motivation they need to keep going. One reason why they will feel different is because of how they look in the mirror, and if they find it easier to wear certain clothes, this will also play a part.

Another reason they will feel different is due to the responses they are receiving from other people. The positive feedback that they receive from others will end up having a big effect on their well-being.

Defined By Others

If one is unable to feel good without receiving positive feedback from others, they may find that this gives them a greater need to look good. It could also cause them become obsessed with their appearance.

Still, all the time that one is receiving positive feedback from others, they might not realise how dependent they are. They will be feeling good about themselves and that will be the only thing that matters.

A Big Impact

What this shows is what can happen when one takes care of their appearance, and so if one wanted to feel good, it will be a good idea for them to look good. Based on this, it could be said that it should be normal for people who look good to feel good about themselves.

Another way of looking at it would be to say that the people who are seen as attractive in society will be immune to feeling down or depressed, for instance. They look good and so there will be no reason for them to suffer emotionally.

A Closer Look

It could be said that this would be going a bit far, as everyone has moments in their life where they don't feel good, and this is partly because we all experience loss no matter what we look like. This is something that can't be defined; however, that doesn't mean that that's the end of it.

There are also plenty of people who don't feel good about themselves even though they look good, and if they do feel good, it could be an experience that soon passes. For example, there are plenty of models and actors who have the looks and the money, and yet they end up in rehab.

Awareness

Thus, is could be said that it would be naive for one to believe that their emotional state depends on how they look. Still, this is not to say that it doesn't have an effect and that one should neglect their appearance; what it emphasises is how important it is for one to have a balanced approach.

It will also be important for one to have a healthy relationship with their emotions, and for them to work on other areas of their life, such as their relationships. If one finds that they find it hard to feel good about themselves, no matter what they do to their appearance, it might be necessary for them to reach out for the right support.

This can be provided by a therapist and/or a support group.
