This Is How To Discipline Your Mind For Greater Success In Life

Nurture Your Mind

Most people's problems result from their thoughts about a situation outside of their control.

Allow me to unpack this in more detail.

Reflect on an area of life causing you frustration. What if you were to hand it to an outsider and ask them to assess it from their perspective?

Would they feel the same about it?

You might think not, because they are less invested in it than you are.

Therein lies the problem.

Your attachment to unpleasant circumstances blinds you to seeing it from another viewpoint.

What if there's a better way of taking ownership of your thoughts?

"The mind is everything. What you think, you become," Buddha wrote two millennia ago. Your self is nothing more than what you believe it to be. You must remove all the internal and external definitions of self that limit your progress in life," writes author Jay Samit in: Disrupt Yourself.

Since you cannot see your thoughts until they manifest into reality, you may question whether you contributed to your problem.

The mind is a powerful ally or foe. I liken it to the tale of the Two Wolves Within and The One You Feed. You can feed the good wolf or the bad wolf. Either way, the mind should be tamed with the right stimuli if you want to experience greater success.

It was the late American motivational speaker Zig Ziglar who said: "People often say that motivation doesn't last. Well, neither does bathing - that's why we recommend it daily."

Nurture your mind with empowering thoughts if you want it to become a powerful asset.

Author Jay Samit believes we often hold ourselves back from the success we deserve: "The unfortunate reality is that what holds most people back is actually their own belief that they are not good enough or deserving enough to be successful."

Unconscious Thoughts

It's no secret that everything out there in your world begins at the level of the mind, as thoughts.

The Hermetic aphorism states: "As within, so without." What you hold in mind will become your reality whether you like it or not. This is empowering because it allows you to become architects of your life, not mere spectators of your destiny.

If you are unconscious to your thoughts or carrying unresolved childhood traumas, they are likely to manifest somewhere in your future.

The father of psychoanalysis Carl Jung said: "Your vision will become clear only when you can look into your own heart. Who looks outside, dreams; who looks inside, awakes."

The greatest minds in history knew that success results from mental discipline and knowing one's self at a deeper level.

It was the Indian spiritual teacher of non-duality Nisargadatta Maharaj who said: "There is nothing to practice. To know yourself, be yourself. To be yourself, stop imagining yourself to be this or that. Just be. Let your true nature emerge. Don't disturb your mind with seeking."

Many people don't know what they want until it shows up in their life, at which point it's not as they imagined it. Similarly, their reality is built around unconscious thoughts because they are unaware they exist.

They are not clear on their ambitions or dreams but are pulled along by life, hoping they will end up where they need to be. This is the person who proclaims: "There's a reason for everything," but has no clue what the reason is.

"By taking just five minutes each morning to visualize success, you train your brain to accept that you are capable of handling success. By visualizing each step of your journey, you are actually getting your mind prepared to handle the opportunity," avows Jay Samit once more.

For example, most people want to be in a healthy relationship and have a list of qualities their ideal partner should have. They might attract their romantic interest after a while since they have given it their attention and energy.

However, once the partner enters their life - if the individual has not reconciled their unconscious thoughts from the past - it is likely to cause problems in the relationship since the other person will mirror their insecurities.

Develop a Greater Sense of Self

The self-aware person draws to himself circumstances consistent with their highest self, instead of satisfying their egos' needs.

To discipline your mind, develop a greater sense of self by focusing on your self-development. You've heard it said, success is the by-product of the person you become.

The self-aware person spends years developing their strengths while controlling their weaknesses.

The late American minister and author Norman Vincent Peale wrote: "Formulate and stamp indelibly on your mind a mental picture of yourself as succeeding. Hold this picture tenaciously. Never permit it to fade. Your mind will seek to develop the picture... do not build up obstacles in your imagination."

In her acclaimed book Mindsight, Stanford psychologist Carol Dweck identifies a person as having either a fixed mindset or a growth mindset.

A person with a fixed mindset believes intelligence is static. They are absorbed in their problems instead of seeing them as an opportunity to be overcome.

In contrast, the person with a growth mindset considers intelligence can be developed through nurturing and discipline.

"This growth mindset is based on the belief that your basic qualities are things you can cultivate through your efforts. Although people may differ in every which way-in their initial talents and aptitudes, interests, or temperaments-everyone can change and grow through application and experience," affirms Carol Dweck in Mindset: How You Can Fulfil Your Potential.

Positive thinking does not improve your situation because it is merely a smoke screen for what is simmering below the surface.

The key to greater success is to integrate the fractured aspects of your character into the wholeness of your being.

To discipline the mind, focus on what you wish to see in your world. Hold an unrelenting commitment to make that your reality.

You will be pushed to your limits at times and your inner resolve will be tested. However, your investment in your personal growth will be of great service during these times.

"Goal Laser, the Brainpower Tool that helps you take aim at what you want out of life without allowing the static of distractions and stressors to interfere. It gives you the patience to delay gratification, often for years, without getting sidetracked along the way," state authors Jeff Brown and Mark Fenske in The Winner's Brain: 8 Strategies Great Minds Use to Achieve Success.

Success in life results from forging the mind just as a blacksmith tempers hot steel, fabricating it into a finished product.

It was the eminent theoretical physicist Albert Einstein who proclaimed a century ago: "We can't solve problems by using the same kind of thinking we used when we created them."

After all, if you wish to attain greater success, you must develop a new mind. A new paradigm in which to perceive the world around you, instead of being at the mercy of your unconscious mind.

Manifestation Is What We Do Naturally

Manifestation is what we do naturally and it shows up in all facets of our lives if we realize it or not.

When you are inspired or not inspired, you created it. If you could look back at a record of all the things that you thought or felt on a subject you could probably identify what thoughts and feelings created the results that you are experiencing right now.

It is possible to start to do this more consciously and link these results to what you were thinking and feeling.

Start small and look at things that are in your life and think for a moment what thoughts and feelings you have had in that area. Interesting!

In the beginning it can seem a little vague as you start to put together the puzzle and remember thoughts and feelings that would make sense to have created that result, but you are unsure. As you practise this skill you become clearer and clearer as to the connections.

Often it is unconscious thoughts that control the creation of things but if you watch your thoughts and feelings you will normally notice their presence and content.

They may be following your positive thoughts or they may just be recurring limiting thoughts created a long time ago, either way just give them no notice for now and continue to think the thoughts and feelings of what you want.

When you think about the things that you want, do your best to feel good about those things, this lifts your vibration closer to achieving those things.

If you feel negative thoughts or feelings just realize what they are and bring your focus back to feeling good about what you want. Negative feelings have little power if you do not dwell on them or give energy to them

As your positive focus on what you want, power starts to build in that direction and energy starts to flow to create those things. This is a natural process.

So focus on what you want and feel good about it. This raises the vibration of your energy towards beautiful things.

If you start to feel bad just realize that your focus has shifted to some old pattern or thought and gently bring it back to what you would like to think about and feel.

Allow the energy to build until what you want is delivered. Be open for things that excite you as they may be the beginning steps of the delivery.

Be gentle with yourself in the beginning as it can take some time to build new habits and your thoughts may drift without noticing. Consistent self loving effort will bring great results and change your life

Enjoy your manifestations!

Is Your Subconscious Set For Success? (By Kiesha Michelle F)

Today you see a lot of people promoting the "Right mindset," and it's so saturated that you might be thinking "Oh not this crap again" I know I have gone through periods of those thoughts. But there is a reason you are being asked: "Is Your Subconscious Set For Success?"

Something happened to me this month of November 2017 that made me think. All the times I have received large sums of money... the money evaporates faster than a cheetah in pursuit!!

This got me thinking...

You hear so many stories of lotto winners who faster then flint use up their money after winning a huge lotto ticket, why is this, well I do believe most of us do have a set of unconscious thoughts about money (among other things) that hold us back from achieving the life we dream of.

I do believe many peoples internal belief system in regards to money and success is out of line with the external reality! Once they (Lotto winners or anyone coming into large sums of money) become a millionaire they blow their money to become aligned with their inner belief system, you see your subconscious mind is way more powerful than our conscious mind.

And although I have always believed that I should be making money, after many years of wondering why I have not come to the point, where I always thought I should be at this point in life, I have come to realize it's because of my inner belief system... which is hard to change!

Most of us have been raised to believe in the employee system, that you should work hard in school so that you can get a good job, be safe and be happy!

This type of work where you barely make ends meet to survive makes it hard for the average joe to go against this system and pursue your dreams and what you want out of life.

You have to recondition your mind to think like a Leader.

It's not skillset holding you back; It's not information holding you back- just do a Google search or a YouTube search, and you will find practically anything you are looking for.

No, the most significant difference between successful people and unsuccessful people is their inner belief system and their mindset!

If you want to be an entrepreneur and you want to keep your money, you have to change your inner belief system.

How To Ride The Wave Of A Positive Thought

What were you thinking a moment ago?

Was it positive, uplifting or disempowering?

Notice your feelings generated by the thoughts.

Are they pleasant, neutral or disagreeable?

If you're able to move your attention to your emotions, congratulations, you know how to ride the wave of a positive thought.

What do I mean by that?

If you observe a surfer on a wave, you'll notice it will turn into a large swell at one point. With enough momentum it surges into a larger wave, carrying the surfer to the shoreline.

Thoughts come and go from the landscape of your mind like ocean waves. New thoughts enter your stream of consciousness every one second. This means thoughts don't last, unless you direct your attention towards specific ones.

We live in the feelings of our thoughts, not the outside circumstances that influence them. External conditions do not impose upon your thinking, however it can produce an emotional response if the stimuli is strong enough.

"Truth is: Getting stopped by a thought, negative or positive, lays the groundwork for any disconcerting experience. It's never what we think, but that we think that gets us into hot water," affirms sports psychologist Garret Kramer in, The Path of No Resistance: Why Overcoming is Simpler than You Think.

Some days a thought produces a negative emotion while other days it's insignificant.

Why?

What has changed apart from the day?

We react to our surroundings on those occasions for unknown reasons, i.e. tired, moody, hungry, etc. At that time we're ruled by our thinking more so.

Your mind doesn't differentiate between a positive or negative thought. It doesn't register them in this manner - but you do, as the observer. When we label thoughts, we assign them importance over others, so they occupy space in our minds.

I want to be clear: You are not your thoughts.

You are not your thoughts, because they appear and dissolve from your mind and none are permanent. They may be repeated often, but they are never permanent. To imply you are what you think is misleading, to the degree you might experience a positive thought one moment and a negative one the next. If you are defined by that distinction, who are you according to this narrative?

If we live in the feelings of our thoughts and experience an anxious thought, it doesn't imply you're an anxious person. It means you experienced a thought which produced anxiety in your body. You may have an illuminating thought the next moment which cancels the earlier one. There are exceptions of course, governed by a clinical diagnosis by a trained mental health professional.

So the question arises, who are you then?

Garret Kramer affirms once more, "All you really need to do is leave your thoughts alone. Why? Because when left alone, as we've seen, all thoughts are impotent. You're free to excel no matter when or where a negative, or even a positive, thought invades your brain."

The key to overcome unwelcomed thoughts is not to eject them from your mind, but to be mindful of them. Approximately 50,000 - 70,000 thoughts pass through your mind every day. Thoughts flood into your consciousness on a moment-to-moment basis, like a TV show streamed online.

If thoughts flow into our consciousness, how can we reduce the impact of the negative ones?

By being mindful of disempowering thoughts, you bring them to the forefront of your mind and become conscious, rather than unconscious of them.

Unconscious thoughts are part of the landscape of our minds. Similar to streaming a TV show on a computer, you can be distracted by a pop-up window selling you a product or service. Your intention is to view the show, yet the distraction pulls you away from it. Unconscious thoughts have the same effect. They emerge from nowhere and can lead us to dark places if we're unaware.

"The pain that you create now is always some form of nonacceptance, some form of

unconscious resistance to what is. On the level of thought, the resistance is some form of

judgment. On the emotional level, it is some form of negativity. The intensity of the pain depends on the degree of resistance to the present moment, and this in turn depends on how strongly you are identified with your mind," states author Eckhart Tolle.

The key is to recognise our unconscious thoughts without invoking negative feelings or adding a narrative. We do so by witnessing them through the eyes of equanimity, instead of reacting with negative emotions or actions.

To ride the wave of positive thought, first note the feelings produced in your body. Note your emotional response without becoming invested in them.

Eckhart Tolle states, "Emotion arises at the place where mind and body meet. It is the body's reaction to your mind - or you might say, a reflection of your mind in the body."

Empowering thoughts have an enriching quality, demonstrating they are in harmony and balance. Thoughts that produce an uncomfortable sensation, is your body's way of showing you they are out of alignment.

In this setting, the body is a feedback instrument informing you of your thinking.

You needn't be attentive to every thought. Yet, if you're aware how those thoughts generate positive or negative emotions, it's possible to choose more balanced thoughts.

When an inspiring thought emerges, move into your body and notice your emotional response.

Is it in your chest, stomach or elsewhere?

How does it feel?

Is it a tingling sensation that radiates or does it move to other regions?

Meditation is useful when sitting with your thoughts in a quiet setting. Even as little as five minutes in silence helps you become acquainted with your thoughts, instead of passing through your mind without conscious awareness.

To ride the wave of a positive thought, note the feelings they produce while shifting your awareness to them.

As you witness your thoughts, your awareness observes them thus diminishing their intensity.

In time, you create longer streams of positive thoughts, having become familiar with their ebb and flow.
