Reasons Why People Don't Accomplish Their Goals

The number 1 reason why people don't achieve their goals is not writing down their goals. Do you know that if goals are not written down they remain to be dreams? Yes, they become something that you wish for. For you to be able to accomplish your dreams, you need to write them down.

Something extraordinary happens when you write down your aspirations on a piece of paper; you begin to believe that you can achieve them. So the first step is for you to take a piece of paper and write down what you want out of life.

The other reason is setting vague goals. Vague goals produce vague results. You need to provide clarity on why you want to achieve the goal in the first place. An example of a vague goal is losing weight. This is not a goal because it does not provide clarity. A goal should follow the S.M.A.R.T formula.

S- Specific; Your goals need to be specific.

M- Measurable

A-Achievable; you need to be able to achieve the goals that you set

R- Realistic; Do not set unrealistic goals because you will lose the motivation before you get to the finish line.

T- Time-bound; it is important for you to give your goals a timeline.

For example; I want to lose 10 pounds by March 2017.

Be clear as possible when you are writing your goals. It is also recommended for you to attach a reason why you want to achieve the goal. Why do you want to lose weight? When you attach a reason, you will be motivated to accomplish the goal.

One great way of setting goals is attaching a positive and a negative result with the goal. That means you need to know what you stand to gain when you accomplish your goal and what you stand to lose when you don't. Knowing the results will help you to settle for nothing less than what you want.

Procrastination is the other reason why people don't achieve their goals. Tomorrow is the only day that appeals to a lazy man. If you can do it today, just do it. You will have more time to go after your goals if you do what needs to be done.

Not having a daily routine is another reason. You can't achieve much if you don't know what to do with your time. It is important to have a routine.

Secrets to Believing in Yourself and Achieving Your Dreams

BELIEVE YOU CAN BE SUCCESSFUL

While it is quite true that every great achievement in life begins with desire, no achievement is however reached without being convinced deep within our hearts that what we desire is achievable.

While we are unconvinced about the feasibility of any dream or whatever we desire, we lack all the power, passion, enthusiasm, perseverance and lots more, to drive that dream or desire on in other to make them a physical reality. We feel weak-kneed, shallow-hearted, empty-brained, bloodless and lifeless whenever we think about that dream. We feel jelly-hearted and end up always procrastinating and procrastinating from time to time. We feel we are not yet ready.

But once we are convinced that dream is feasible, achievable, that is, we believe it is realizable given all the abilities and resources we have and those of others we are going to be networking with in order to bring the dream to life, we suddenly become energetic, passionate, zealous, enthusiastic and heavily loaded right within. The right dose of adrenaline is injected into our blood!.

Our brains receive fresh vitality from our blood vessels it brightens up and prepares a strong foundation on which other roadmaps to our success empire can be laid.

Our mind sharpens up, and opens up to receiving creative impulses that can immensely help us to design and implement the step by step distinctive actions, plots, schemes, contained in our master plan to achieving our specific and definite dreams, goals and pursuits.

To believe is to feel sure or certain that something is true or possible. When you are certain deep down beneath your breaths that your goal, dream, targets are feasible and achievable, then every other thing starts falling into its proper place.

Many people fail in life not because they didn't desire success or riches but because they never really got too convinced deep down their hearts, they never really got to believe, to be certain beyond all doubts that their dreams are feasible, attainable, achievable!

The truth is "all things are possible to him who believes is the moment you truly believe, the invisible mental barriers and blindfold that used to darken your mental eyes and all the gigantic mountains the fear of the unknown has created in your subconscious mind disappear. They start falling down before you as you step forward. They disappear like a mirage as you appear on scene. And soon you realize you are actually unstoppable. Your dreams are actually achievable. And new ideas ways, opportunities unfolds before your very eyes.

To believe in your dream all you have to do is take a second look at your self- you are fearfully and wonderfully created. You are only aware of a small part of what you are capable of in life. Like an iceberg, only a small portion of your total potential is visible. Your mind is an engine room for riches, success and great inventions, creations that are yet to be revealed!. The mind is loaded with unbelievable power-you just have to lean how to put it to use positively, and productively. And you'd be surprised at what eventually becomes of you.

Every great man, every successful and famous person were once 'ordinary' people. They were once ordinary 'unknown' people until they learned how to desire to be great, and as well learned how to unlock the latent powers of the conscious and sub- conscious mind. They were ordinary people like you until they learned how to harness the powers of their minds by believing in their inner God- given abilities, and as well that of others, in other to bring their dreams to life. You too can, if only you BELIEVE!

Possible Or Impossible - You Decide

And Mr. Webster says...

Possible - feasible, practicable, practical, viable, within the bounds/realms of possibility, attainable, achievable, workable, doable

Impossible - not possible, out of the question, unfeasible, impractical, impracticable, nonviable, unworkable, unthinkable, unimaginable, inconceivable, absurd, unattainable, unachievable, unobtainable, unwinnable, hopeless, impractical, implausible, far-fetched, outrageous, preposterous, ridiculous, absurd, impracticable, unworkable, futile.

Notice there are twice as many words that are synonymous for impossible as possible - does this mean anything? Well - read on and you will discover why so many people focus on what is impossible rather than possible.

We all face barriers when we try something new or take a risk but the real question is do we really believe what we are doing or attempting is possible or doable or are we just trying and hoping?

I believe that very few people (given the population of the US) actually believe that what they are trying is possible and I don't care if it's the Wright Brothers, Bill Gates, John F. Kennedy or anyone who has little experience, few contacts, a poor background or just a victim mentality. Imagine what would not exist today if so many people hadn't just kept trying and believing no matter the odds, number of failures or mistakes and the constant ridicule or invalidation from others.

We have what we have today because people didn't quit and never believed what they were aiming for was impossible.

How about you - a new business, a new career, a new relationship, new skills, new anything - wishing and hoping, staying stuck in the past or going for it with gusto?
Thinking about writing a book or taking up a new hobby of painting or sculpture?

Waiting for just the right moment?

As a mentor to over 50 aspiring authors I can tell you every one of them keeps telling me - "I have a book in me." And I keep asking them is this book in you any good? And if it is will it help others? And if it will, how many people is it helping while it's still inside of you? What are you waiting for? It won't get done on its own.

Want a new career or position - and you don't have the experience or skills - go out and get them. Stop dreaming and hoping and start moving in the right direction.

Again, how about you - waiting for the right time, the right connection, the right inspiration, the right something? Stop waiting and erase the word impossible from your vocabulary and then get to work and watch the miracles unfold.

Goals of Life

Goal setting is just a process of thinking and planning your preferred future, a way of inspiring and motivating yourself to turn your dreams into reality with the help of an action plan.

Most of the people around us are not clear about their goals. Believe me; even if one has got an IQ of 180 he hasn't the clarity about his goals. People usually take up something, correct themselves along their path, and eventually they fall in love with something and want to delve deeper in that particular thing.

Goals are not set and static. Goals are discovered along the way while you're taking action in any field. They are not black or white, actually they are grey.

But there are some techniques like the one suggested by the management guru Peter Drucker that would help you set your goal.

This technique is called SMART, a mnemonic for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant and Time-bound.

Let's talk about each of them individually.

#Specific: your goal needs to be specific. It should answer the following question - what you want to achieve, why you want to achieve this goal, who all will be involved, what could be the factors which might stop you or help you to move forward.

For instance, suppose you want to be rich, how rich? These are some of the questions which need to be answered while defining your goal.

#Measurable: you should be able to measure the progress of your goal then only you will be able to know if you are moving in the right direction.

#Achievable: you need to answer yourself whether you have the resources or skills required for the goal you have set for yourself. What could be the probable reason which might stop you from pursuing this goal?

#Relevant: this stresses on the importance of choosing the goal that matters. If you did your class 12th in commerce, then you went to a commerce college to pursue B.com and now if you are setting up a goal of being an astronaut, it seems irrelevant here. Your goal need to match your other resources and should be applicable to your current socio-economic conditions.

#Time-Bound: it stresses on the importance of assigning a time frame to your goal. It would help you to keep track of your progress. Moreover it would impart a sense of urgency to your goal and would help you to stay more focused.

Give a man a bow and arrow and ask him to "SHOOT" and his first response would be, "at what?" When there is no target there is no purpose of shooting.

On the other hand if you give the archer a target and challenge him to hit the target, everything changes. Now you have given him something to aim at, something to challenge his skills against, something to measure his progress with and above all you have given him a purpose.

This is exactly what a goal does to a person's life, it changes the whole perspective.
