The Secret to Being Attractive

How many times have you wished you were smarter, younger, fitter, slimmer and better? And why?

I often observe intelligent people who do well in life and intelligent people who don't. I have met beautiful individuals who are well liked and successful, but I have also met countless of miserable beauties. I have seen slim people full of happiness, and I have also seen slim people drowning in depression.

So, do you have to look good to feel good? Do you have to look good to do well? Of course you don't! If you want people to be drawn to you, you need something else.

When it comes to being attractive, be it in your social, sexual or professional life, the first thing to look at is your personal confidence; second one is the degree to which you live out your passion.

Surely, there is nothing attractive about a slim beauty that is self-conscious, feels lost and doesn't have any interests or passion. People are drawn to interesting people full of life. Vitality is contagious and attractive. Emptiness and self-consciousness are boring and tiring. If you live life purposefully and passionately, you will be like a magnet to other people and you will certainly reap great success in your life.

Have you seen fashion shows? What's attractive about the models on the runway is the confidence they project. Even though sometimes they wear ridiculous clothes, funny hairdos and cold expressions on their faces, they still come off as extremely attractive simply because they carry themselves with confidence (which may or may not be authentic but that's a different story).

So the rule goes like that: the more confident and purposeful you are, the more attractive to other people you will look. Of course the personal confidence is bound to also get reflected in your physical appearance: the way you walk, the way you talk, the way you dress, and the way you take care of yourself overall. But confidence and passion come first. Without those, your looks are "empty". With no life in your body you are not a very interesting person, therefore people won't be interested in you, they won't be drawn to you.

Have you heard the old saying "Beauty comes from within"? Well, it does! So if you want to look attractive and be successful (sexually, socially and professionally), you need to be confident and purposeful in life.

Using Pleasure to Create the Life You Want

Our pleasure shows us where we are in alignment. It is a natural built-in system that shows us what is right for us. However, not all experiences we might label as pleasurable are created equal.

It is helpful to learn to differentiate between types of pleasure. For example, eating a piece of chocolate cake might feel good in the moment, but that does not necessarily mean it is in alignment with you. To determine whether it is or not, you need to pay attention to the entire experience. How do you feel after you eat the chocolate cake? Does it continue to be a pleasurable experience?

It is also helpful to pay attention to the quality of the pleasure. Is it consistent throughout the layers of the experience? Using the same example of the chocolate cake, it might feel good in your mouth but not in your body. Or, maybe it negatively impacts our emotions because it's more food than we actually need and we know it, and so we feel a little uncomfortable about having eaten it.

This approach applies to all experiences in our lives: How we feel at work, how we feel in our relationships. As we pay more attention to our pleasure and learn to really listen to it, we strengthen our ability to navigate through life.

Another thing that gets in the way of using pleasure as our guide is having a negative relationship with pleasure, which can make you feel bad about something that is actually good for you. Your conditioning distorts the picture of what you are experiencing based on ideas about what you should or should not enjoy. The opposite can also be true: we can be conditioned to feel pleasure associated with things that are not good for us.

The basic experience gets distorted by misconceptions and misinterpretations of events that take what would be a simple mechanism for determining what is right for us and make it confusing. It would be wonderful if it were as easy as a pleasurable experience automatically being in alignment with your needs so you could say yes to it and welcome more of it into your life. And if it were not a pleasurable experience, then you could redirect and go in a different direction. Once we get past all of the conditioning, this is true-but that takes some time to do.

It may seem as if, given all this conditioning, it is impossible to trust how you feel about things. However, the trick is not to cast pleasure aside and start trying to figure out what is best through your mind, but instead to dive more deeply in and practice paying closer attention.

To use pleasure as a guide-and it is a very useful guide-you can start to pay attention to where you might be filtering or misinterpreting the information that's coming in about what is pleasurable and thus learn about what does or does not work for you in any given situation. As you pay attention to all aspects of your experience around an event that you consider pleasurable, your understanding of what is pleasurable will become more refined. As we become more and more refined, it becomes easier to have that simple relationship with pleasure-if it feels good, then it is good for me. Then you will be able to use pleasure to cultivate the things, the people, places, situations, and activities that you want in your life.

As you do so, you will feel so much better and better in all aspects of your life because you are creating a life that is in alignment with you. And as you cultivate this, it will actually raise your overall energy. Your energy will start operating at a higher level, which continues the refinement process of your pleasure and allows you to really hone in on what is working for you and what is best for you through what feels good. And then your pleasure will become this incredibly valuable tool for creating a life that feels really good and is in alignment with who you are.

The Only Way to Feel Good

"Even if I am locked in a prison cell and hated by the entire world, my spirit can still be that of a king." - Daisaku Ikeda

It seems too simple, I know. It's so simple that we want to make it more difficult, more esoteric. However, the simple truth is that the only way to feel good is to think thoughts that feel good.

Likewise, the only way to feel bad is to think thoughts that feel bad. It really is that straightforward.

Because our thoughts produce our feelings, what we choose to think determines how we feel. Please notice it's what we choose to think. Sometimes it doesn't feel like we're choosing our thoughts because negative momentum appears to be choosing our thoughts for us.

Negative momentum may at times feel like a runaway train. We may even be tempted to believe those negative thoughts. However, at any moment, we can consciously choose to think a thought that feels better. Even if we choose a thought that feels just a little bit better, we have stopped the negative momentum and we're re-focused in a more positive direction.

We often want to blame other people or external circumstances for our bad mood. We think, "if only he / she / it would change, I would feel good." Alas, it's up to us. And that is where our power lies.

We are guaranteed to feel bad if we think thoughts that feel bad. Likewise, we're guaranteed to feel good if we think good feeling thoughts.

Feeling good really is as easy as thinking thoughts that feel good [or a little bit better], focusing on things that are easy to appreciate and thinking of others who are easy to love. In this way, we begin climbing back up the emotional scale. Isn't it nice to know we have the power to choose how we feel!

Here's the process: We stay present and notice how we're feeling. When we notice we're not feeling the way we want to feel, we take that as information. Information - NOT that we've done something wrong or that we're in some way flawed - but information that we're thinking thoughts that don't serve us. Once we become aware of our negative thoughts, we can then begin choosing thoughts that feel better.

Some days it seems more difficult than others, but it's always the same process:

*Stay present and notice how you feel.

*Consciously choose thoughts that feel better.

*Voila, your vibration rises and you're a vibrational match to your desires!

It is simple and it does work, but it also takes practice. As we practice choosing thoughts that feel good and we get in the habit of feeling good, pretty soon feeling bad will be so unacceptable that, at the first hint of negative emotion, we'll nip it in the bud and get back to our natural state of well-being.

We all want to feel good and, thankfully, the Law of Attraction teaches us how to do that. We know how to feel good and we have the power to feel good. What could be better than that!

How's Your 'Now'?

Sure you want cars, house and lot, and profit-generating businesses in the future. And I'm certain you've been working day and night to achieve your long-term goals - but there are a few things you could be missing in the process - your 'now'. How does your 'now' look like? I have a few guesses:

1. Enjoying your daily hours of deluxe stay on a bus/van/train, while Facebook, Netflix, Spotify, or YouTube is on a roll, during your commute to and from the office. Take note of "hours".

2. Staying on your toes online for the next piso fare to the place where you've been wanting to go to, on gosh-knows when, probably months or years from now when typhoons usually visit PAR. I'm sure by now you already know that PAR means Philippine Area of Responsibility.

3. Binge-watching your favorite shows online during weekends, if, and only if, you do not have a shift or homework. Would have been lovely if the internet connection has been solid too, but hey, who cares?

4. Waiting for the long weekends to meet with or treat your family or friends from miles away, to eat or go window shopping - something you've been doing repeatedly for quite some time now.

5. Chatting with doctor stranger about your whatever-it-is-this-time condition secondary to selective amnesia, making you forget that you're not a machine. And that, yes, we have to drink water and find time to pee!

Dude, it is time to break the ice and do something new and cool. Make things happen for your 'now's sake. Find time for things you usually just 'like' on social media, while you still have the desire and energy. I certainly do not have a complete list, and yours may be more or less weird than these stuff, but go take a glance at what I have in mind as far as the #MakeItHappen list is concerned.

1. Buy that freaking branded bag or pair of shoes. And if you're thinking of keeping it sealed at home because you think it is too pricy to use, then you probably should just print a photo of it and keep in your wallet. Use it, buddy! Its price should speak for its quality. And tearing it is still way better than not using it at all.

2. Announce that surprise treat for your family or friends. Drag them to a buffet or a nice hotel which could house all of you for a while. It will be unforgettable, and will definitely make you feel good, especially if you've never done this before. I have a feeling this will be your friends' favorite item on this list.

3. Use your vacation leave credits and take your family to Bohol. No specific reason for choosing Bohol - I would just love to see the chocolate hills myself. But there's a lot to see here in our very own country before you even think of flying abroad.

4. Go for a movie marathon, only this time, try hopping from one cinema to another in one day. And leave your mobile phones at home, please!

5. Enroll for an online class be it a short course or an actual degree. If you do not think studying is close to making it up with your 'now', then just pick from 1 to 4.

Not motivated enough to make things actually happen for your 'now'? Just ask your 'past' how he was - nope, not referring to your ex.

Keeping A Respectable Distance: The Antidote For Whatever Ails You

Personal detachment is the closest thing we have to a universal remedy for erroneous and unhealthy thought and feeling. The common misunderstanding about this concept is that it's some kind of gimmick or artificial device, when in fact it's the primary way of living in positive reality.

Here's the basic situation: A person's having negative thoughts or feelings which she or he doesn't like -- unless of course he does like them. His wallowing in despair or self-pity may be a conscious, acceptable way of life for him. It may make him feel good in some perverse, masochistic way. He may be addicted to it. Stuck in it.

Let's assume this is not you and return to the basic premise that you don't like your negative thoughts and feelings and want to control or get rid of them. What do you do? The glib answer is to simply stop thinking such thoughts and feeling such feelings. Easy to say, but how do you do it?

The best way is to have the presence of mind to catch negativity at the very moment of its inception. That's the point at which you can simply dismiss the thought at will.

However, if you indulge or entertain the thought for more than a few seconds, it becomes more and more embedded into your subconscious mind and much more difficult to dismiss. You've made it a part of you, a part of your makeup.

Okay, so you're not that adept yet at the level of presence of mind where you can stop thoughts on arrival. So, we'll go to Plan B. In this more common scenario, you're too often experiencing negative thoughts, feelings and below par performance. What do you do?

The way you treat anything unwanted or unproductive now is to simply distance yourself from it. Detach from it. Witness it and back off from it at as close to the same time as you can. Again, before it can fester or germinate.

There's a mythical rule of food hygiene in the hospitality industry -- that if a cook or waitperson drops food on the floor and picks it up within five seconds, it can still be served to the customer because it has not been contaminated by bacteria in that length of time.

The same with thought or feeling. Drop it before it contaminates you. -- And do not allow guilt or accept blame for such random thought. They are part of the human DNA. They will come no matter what. All you have to do is not act on or be tempted by them. This is the definition of self-control.

The term "respectable" in this context means you're respecting the distinction between thought and the controlling witness of thought. Respecting that thought and feeling are not who you really are, but are below who you really are. Your whole job is simply to maintain that correct relationship.

Trending Confidence And Unstoppable Determination (By Jan Verhoeff)

Several weeks back, a conference left me wishing I was at home alone, without anyone looking at me. I wasn't feeling super well, in fact, I might have actually been on the start of a really nasty illness, but I hadn't realized I was sick yet. I just didn't feel well.

The ultimate push to leave the conference came after I'd sat through the afternoon presentation, and in the process of dressing for dinner, I realized I'd brought everything but the DRESS that went with my outfit. Without it, black slacks just weren't going to cut it, I needed the DRESS. Frustrated, almost angry, and feeling defeated, I left the conference without attending the final evening. I'd just had too much. I was done.

I slipped out after everyone else had gone to the dining room for dinner.

Later, with my phone dinging from text messages asking where I was, I made a quick stop to grab a sandwich at a drive through, and looked through the texts. One in particular stood out...

"Hey, I just checked at the desk when I couldn't find you and they said you checked out. Are you okay? I was hoping we could have a drink tonight after the final presentation!"

I was already at the southern edge of town, headed home, and not willing to drive back. I responded with a quick. "I'll be okay. I just needed some space. I'll call tomorrow." And through tears, I paid for my sandwich and drove home. I don't think I ever bothered to eat the sandwich. I was feeling too far down at the time... I needed, really needed, to hear the words from a friend "I was hoping we could have a drink tonight after the presentation."

You see...

Throughout the entire event, I'd felt invisible. I'd been feeling as if I didn't really matter to anyone there. I really had felt as if my presence there was detrimental to the purpose of the event. And because I didn't FEEL good, I'd allowed these negative feelings to drive me away from the final event, which most likely would have shifted my thinking. Why? Because my friend had noticed me, and was planning to ask me to join him for a drink.

We'd talked earlier, but only in groups. And being a bit shy, I had stood in the background, allowing others to "make the impressions" and I wasn't sharing my valuable message with anyone. I was holding back.

Two hours later, at home, I keyed in the video that had been loaded from the final portion of the event and watched as the speaker told "my story" from his perspective. He didn't know he was telling my story. He thought he was telling his own story.

He thought he was sharing the story of a man who didn't feel worthy of sharing his message, because others were sharing the message too. The words he spoke were like prods to my heart, shocking me into the reality that we're all just traveling through this world with our own problems, dealing with our own realities, and none of us has perfected the process. But we don't have to accept that lonely, over the edge feeling of defeat that pushes us into a corner, when we don't feel acknowledged, recognized, or visible.

Imagine for a moment if you looked around the room, behind the smiles that are visible and saw the soul of others as they truly are... Would they be the confident person you see, in the perfectly selected outfit, pressed and pristine, smiling with unstoppable determination? Or would they be a broken, hurting soul, who accidentally left the perfect dress at home in the closet and packed EVERY OTHER SINGLE ITEM for her outfit, and chose a different one for the night?

During the following week, my "not feeling good" required a Dr. visit, and the realization that I'd missed out on a night of fun with a friend that would have meant the world to me. But more... That next week gave me insight into a reality that shook me to the core.

I'm more than the perfect outfit. I'm anything but invisible. My life has meaning. I'm a valuable person, with a message that nobody else has been given, and I'm intended to share that message. Whether there's a crowded room of listeners, or a table for two with a semi-polite stranger on the other side, I have a purpose. I can be confident that my message has meaning. And if I don't share my message with others, it might never be heard.

If you're allowing your message to be stifled because you think you're somehow unworthy, invisible, or not the perfect messenger... STOP. Rethink this process, and rethink who you are. YOU have a purpose. You have a message. And YOU are the only one given the message you have, who can deliver your message to the people who will listen to you. There's someone out there, at least one person who NEEDS to hear the message you're given. They need YOU.

Fight for it. Overcome STUFF that might take you out of the running. Grab onto some of that trending confidence, unstoppable determination, and overcome stuff that would prevent you from delivering your message to the one person who needs to hear it from you!

Do what you've been sent here to do - share your message, with confidence.

How To Develop Clearer Personal INSIGHTS?

How can anyone, ever, become, the best, he can possibly be, unless/ until, he does all he can, to develop the finest, best - developed, personal INSIGHTS? I, often, refer to this, as getting yourself, a check - up. from the neck - up, which means, trying, to be truly introspective, and understand your strengths, and weaknesses, effectively using area of strength, while enhancing, and working, effectively, on areas of weakness. Instead of lying, to yourself, as so many do, doesn't it make more sense, to really identify, and understand, what makes you tick, and, how, knowing this, might assist you, in becoming the healthiest, happiest, and best, to might become. With that in mind, this article will attempt to, briefly, consider, what this means and represents, using the mnemonic approach, and why it matters.

1. Ideas; intuition; image: When one's personal intuition, becomes better enhanced, and developed, he generally, develops a finer, self - image! Only then, will you proceed, with the quality of ideas, which makes you, truly proud!

2. Needs; nuances; nerve: Do you know, what your true needs, might be? Do you possess the nerve, to proceed, with the nuances, which make you happiest? Are you aware of, what really, makes you happy?

3. Serves; strengths/ stronger: Which strengths, will best, serve, your needs, and make you the most comfortable? Are you ready, to do, what makes you stronger, on a regular basis?

4. Imagination; issues: When one optimizes his imagination, in a focused way, he addresses the true, relevant issues, in a priorities - based way?

5. Growth; greater; good: What makes you, feel good, about yourself? Will you focus on the bigger - picture, and the greater necessities of happier, healthier living? Will you, consistently, undergo personal growth, on a regular basis?

6. Hero/ heroic; healthy; happy: Shouldn't you become your own hero? Is it heroic, to proceed, forward, every day, in a somewhat, insightful, introspective, manner? Shouldn't your primary objective, be, to enjoy a happy, healthy, life?

7. True/ truthful; timely; take time: Getting better, often requires the commitment, to take the time, to consider, alternatives and options, and which, works best, for you! Be certain, you are consistently, being truthful, and, develop/ enhance those skills/ assets, to become better! When you take a true, deep look, and examine, your inner - self, with absolute insight, you will enjoy the end - results!

8. Solutions: Learn to consider, obstacles, as challenges, to overcome, rather than debilitating problems, and you will be better able, to seek the finest solutions, which are most beneficial, to you!

Our health and happiness, are achieved, when our personal INSIGHTS, make us feel, much better, about ourselves. Are you up to the task, and responsibility?

4 Ways To "Calmify" Your Creative Space

My desk at home is definitely my creative sanctuary. I spend endless amounts of hours generating ideas, researching new topics and crafting my work. I really do enjoy being in my own private little workspace. I have endured many long periods of productivity (some of which have turned into late night writing sessions) without ever feeling overwhelmed or as though I have lost my sanity.

However, working on projects isn't always breezy; there are times when I am rushing to meet a deadline or I'm struggling to come up with a new topic to write about. Even so, my carefully constructed, comfortable little space can insulate my mind from the dangers of stress.

When setting up your own personal workspace there is one very important question you must ask yourself... "How does it FEEL to you?" With that in mind here are 4 ways to "calmify" your own workspace:

1. Make Your Workspace Visually Appealing

I've always disliked the look and feel of a corporate office: I find those types of workspaces drain me of energy and hinder my creativity. If you're going to spend the better part of the day working in your personal workspace, it only makes sense to add a little visual appeal.

You should instantly feel good when sitting down at your desk; in fact, it should very well be our most favourite place to be. Ditch those white walls for something more energetic and eye friendly; invest in beautiful hanging artworks or vibrant floor rugs. You may even want to consider getting a plant, as they have proven to reduce stress and improve air quality.

2. Play relaxing music or ambient noise

I personally don't like total silence when I work; I find it a little too depressing and believe it or not a bit distracting. My mind tends to wonder in silence and I easily fall prey to daydreaming.

It has been proven that listening to music while working can increase happiness and efficiency; research has shown that moderate noise level can help get the creative juices following.

I, however, can become easily sidetracked by song lyrics, which is why I prefer to listen to ambient noise. Listening to natural sounds such as waves at a beach or raining falling while you work, can increase concentration levels. If you in search of some ambient noise Spotify has a huge variety of playlist to choose from.

3. Clear the Clutter

A cluttered workspace can have quite a negative effect on your concentration and productivity. By surrounding yourself with unfinished tasks, you are reminding yourself of what you have not yet completed, which can make it very difficult to feel centred and focused.

When working in your workspace, the only items that should be on your desk should be directly related t the current project you're working on. All other items should be neatly stored away in drawers, shelves or cabinets.

4. Work near a window

There is much more to a window seat then just the view; healthy levels of light can easily energise you and help your body become alerted, attentive and focused. Studies have shown that exposure to natural light during the day can have greatly influenced a happier mood and sharper alertness.

Natural light can also result in a reduction of anxiety, stress, lethargy, and boredom. Designing your workspace around lighting will great benefits on your productivity.

Now get to it!

Take a moment to review your workspace. How can you calmify your creative space? If you don't have the time for a major modification, then tackle it one small change at a time. Add an art piece, purchase a plant, tidy your space. Then relax and enjoy.

7 Surefire Ways To Reduce Holiday Stress

So my family threw a surprise party for me. | And they even … | Flickr

Holiday seasons are filled with great expectations - family gatherings, reunions, gifts galore, parties, feasts, etc. However, it can be a stressful period if you don't handle it well. Here are seven steps you need to take in order to reduce your stress level during the holiday.

1. Plan ahead of time: Creating a timeline in advance and adhering to it will make your job easier. This is very important so that you don't muddle things up - you wouldn't want to put yourself in the stress of mailing the family gifts on a day you will be baking cookies for children's holiday school party. You can also set aside a weekend before the holiday starts to prepare cards and update letters so that the whole family will be encouraged to get involved.

2. Rest more: When you are tired, your stress level builds up. As a result of this, you should endeavor to sleep early in order to get the best quality of sleep, especially when you don't have night parties. If you are having difficulties in getting quality sleep, you can make use of food supplements especially natural products which do not have major side effects.

3. Meditate daily: Daily meditation is very vital for banishing worries. Choose a comfortable time daily for meditation and make sure you are religiously committed to it. There are ayurvedic meditations that are very good for your mind and body.

4. Balance the emotions to avoid holiday blues: It is possible that the holiday period brings emotional trauma for some people due to painful memories or family conflict. If you find yourself in this type of situation, you should not let the trauma lead you to eating too much which can lead to weight gain and skin breakout after the holiday.

5. Let your mind be steady when under pressure: Not minding your best-laid plans, there may come a time in your holiday when you have to choose between several choices - attending multiple parties, choosing the right gift, organizing family gatherings and so on. This can overwhelm the mind, but at this point, you need to calm down and give yourself a break.

6. Look good: When you look good, you will definitely feel good. You can make a list of things you will do for yourself during the holiday apart from wining and dining. You can get the best massage especially with ayurvedic massage oil and you will be left with a genuine holiday glow.

7. Be creative: Look for ways to make your next holiday unique. Think of places you have not visited before, think of events you have not participated in before, think of resorts you are yet to see, etc. By thinking outside the box, you will surely have a great holiday and in fact, a stress free one.

The Inevitability of Life

Two Women Smiling

Each step towards our objective require patience, struggles, and battle; the vigorous efforts and enthusiasm of dedicated people. But if there is no battle, there is no advancement. Your personal, professional, and productive life are altogether entwined.

Individual battles, mistakes, and perseverance are a piece of each individual story. An appropriate mindset can transform disappointment into a blessing. In fact, adaptive skills and intelligence can be developed to help an individual conquer a resounding disappointment.

Our ability to rise back in every circumstance that we encountered in life enable us to become stronger and better individuals. Our resilience allows each one of us to rise back every time we fall.

We cannot avoid the inevitability of life. We will never know how unavoidable the unavoidable was. Because an apple falls one hundred times out of a hundred doesn't mean it will fall on the hundred and first.

This world is our reality however that doesn't mean we can generally prevent it from burning. We could have continued driving and never thought back. Nobody's at any point needed to stop for us. Or on the other hand even hear me. Anyway, we did, and now we're apprehensive the ideal opportunity for decision is behind us both.

Enduring is inescapable. It is a piece of the human condition. It is written in the human content. We meet numerous individuals for the duration of our lives. Huge numbers of them we don't generally make an association with. What's more, regardless of whether we do whatever it takes not to demonstrate to them that, it's inescapable to have contentions, make's someone extremely upset, lose a companion, or the consequences will be severe. In the event that we don't do it, another person will do it to us. That is exactly how connections work.

Regardless of whether we're the kindest individual on the planet, there will be somebody who'll differ with the manner in which we live, and will need to tell us what his feeling is. In case we're the one causing the contention, make a stride back and think about on our conduct. Yet, at that point acknowledge the way we meet such individuals on our way as well. It's simply the value we pay for gathering the incredible people who really remain in our life.

Being frail from time to time is in our inclination. We need that so as to realize what quality is, and it's an opportunity we're given to defeat that shortcoming. Yet, don't feel terrible about that. Try not to make a safe place that will make you feel good. As inevitably, that turns into your shortcoming as well.

It's nothing shocking to be dependent on something - we as a whole are, regardless of whether we understand it or not. It's not the most exceedingly terrible thing to have some negative behavior patterns, they're a piece of life as well.

Getting old might be very discouraging. We possibly feel old once we compare ourselves with other people especially the younger ones. Be that as it may, what's the point? Feeling awful about our age implies we have laments about the past or haven't made harmony with it.So now's the correct time to consider what was, to acknowledge it with our entire being, and to simply leave it alone.

Seeing ourselves come up short. This is another of the unavoidable things that will occur eventually in our life. Presumably more regularly than we'd like. However, disappointment is the greatest teacher throughout our life. In the event that we figure out how to embrace it, we'll have aced a significant part of life. In the wake of accomplishing something incorrectly, we can proceed onward more grounded and know precisely what not to do next time. Isn't that incredible?

In fact, there are many things around us that we ought to be profoundly thankful for. Indeed, we ought to thank for having them every single minute. It's exactly how we live. We're frequently in a surge and neglect to stop and take in the pleasant ambiance.

In any case, we end up with second thoughts and having lost something valuable without acknowledging how astonishing it was. So make some space in your days for gratefulness and appreciation. Make it a day by day practice and you'll wind up being increasingly placated after some time.

What's more, who knows, possibly there's something significantly more superb than life itself after? So these are only the inescapable things in life we as a whole need to manage sooner or later.

Having weaknesses is our human nature. We need to know our weaknesses to recognize our strengths. But don't feel bad about that. Don't create a comfort zone that will make you feel better. Eventually, that will become your weakness too.

Coping With Narcissistic Rage

Hate is the complement of fear and narcissists like being feared.

It imbues them with an intoxicating sensation of omnipotence.

~Sam Vaknin, Malignant Self Love: Narcissism Revisited~

Psychiatrist Mark Goulston tells us that engaging people in the midst of narcissistic rage is not likely to be productive. If it is safe, you might just listen until they are finished ranting. You can later request that they talk with you in a calm and respectful manner. If that does not happen the next time, it might be best to just walk away if you can or avoid such people altogether.

Susan Whitbourne, Ph.D. suggests specific ways to handle narcissists:

  • Determine which type you're dealing with. A grandiose narcissist might be a good ally if your goals exactly match theirs. Vulnerable narcissists are harder to deal with because they are constantly on the lookout for people who might further diminish their already poor concept of themselves.
  • Acknowledge your annoyance. Learn to recognize where your annoyance lies, usually related to the person who constantly interrupts you when you are trying to accomplish something.
  • Appreciate where the behavior comes from. Understand that vulnerable narcissists need to make themselves feel better. A modicum of reassurance for them is necessary to focus them on a group task. Just don't get carried away with praising them or they will take over a project.
  • Evaluate the context. Some situations will worsen tendencies toward being defensive, vindictive and spiteful. One example is a narcissist who is passed over for a promotion but still needs to work with the team who they are not leading.
  • Maintain a positive outlook. Some narcissists enjoy seeing others suffer. Letting them see your annoyance is likely to just increase their efforts to make your life more miserable.
  • Don't let yourself get derailed. Stay focused on your own goals despite a narcissist's efforts to take center stage and monopolize the direction of your group.
  • Keep your sense of humor. Try using humor to react to a narcissist's attempt to monopolize group goals rather than direct confrontation.
  • Recognize that the person may need help. Narcissists whose low self esteem leads them to their disruptive behavior may be in need of help to find better ways to improve how they see themselves.

These suggestions appear to be good ones when you are the one in charge. If the narcissist is the one in charge, your chances of using any of them successfully will be quite diminished. Using any of these approaches when you are in a vulnerable or one-down position is likely to be seen as undermining the power of the narcissist in charge. In such a situation, your options for improving the situation do not look good. Your best bet may be to find a way to remove yourself from the situation or group.
Maybe you are not ready to flee or are in a position of not being able to afford doing so. Now what? Susan Price has some ideas. Here is one possible scenario: "Your boss is a complete narcissist: he expects you to be at his whim all day, he blames everyone for mistakes except himself, argues and contradicts employees with every small detail even things he said himself!" If this sounds familiar, read on. Here are her suggestions for handling the situation:

  • Forget being friends. You will have to sell your soul to be considered a friend by such a person. Remember that narcissists are not capable of making friends in the sense of having mutual respect and caring for each other. Your interests are never a priority.
  • Don't criticize. Your criticism will never be taken at face value. Anger or rage is to be expected when you criticize a narcissist.
  • Focus on analyzing problems. Sharing your feelings is not likely to get you anywhere. Narcissists are interested only in their own feelings. Instead, concentrate on problems and potential solutions. Then, don't count on receiving credit for a good idea.
  • Let him or her make decisions. Presenting options works better than suggesting the best option. Then allow him or her to take credit for the plan.
  • Make him or her look and feel good. His or her importance and having it recognized are uppermost in such a person's mind. Don't be stingy with praise.
  • Absorb the blame. Narcissists never see themselves at fault. Someone else is always the blame for whatever goes wrong.
  • Set boundaries and keep them. Try to focus on solutions and temper criticism with praise.
  • Don't compete. Don't expect praise for yourself or thanks for doing a good job. A narcissist will always take credit for teaching you to do a good job.

To survive, you need to set aside your own needs and become a cog in the machine operated by a narcissistic boss. Staying afloat is a tricky business and has few rewards. You might be better off finding a more rational and rewarding position. If you decide to stay, don't expect much for yourself.
You might be wondering whether dealing with a narcissist with power is a lost cause. It is difficult but not impossible. In a social group, you can work with others to reconstitute the group without the offending narcissist. In a corporation, the board of directors, informed by shareholders and workers, has power over any given boss. In government, citizens have power to elect representatives who have the power to contain if not remove narcissists not in touch with public needs. In all these cases, your job is to start working with others and find a mutual path toward resolving the impasse.

Life Lab Lessons

  • Dealing with a narcissist is an uphill battle at best.
  • Don't expect to do the impossible.
  • Don't expect too much of yourself.
  • Get support from others in your venture.
  • Try to avoid situations where narcissists have power over you.

Behind That Trembling Fire Inside

We all know them, those people who explode into anger easily; many times escalating to rage about things we simply cannot understand. We may encounter this in our own children, siblings, partners, friends or even strangers who cross our path. A trail of scattered angry energy follows in their wake that can alter the course of the entire day for observers. What happened, we wonder, what did we miss; why are they so angry?

The seething rage lying just beneath the surface of those afflicted is confounding, even to them. Ask them later why they reacted so dramatically to things that may have seemed trivial to others and they rarely know the answer. It just happened. They may temporarily feel better but these people never feel good. They are consumed with a trembling fire inside raging out of control without notice. Relationships, jobs and opportunities are a casualty of this malady.

This rage, the anger that never really subsides is a mask, donned to prevent any onlooker from peering beneath it lest they encounter the wrath of the masked. Like posting trained guard dogs at your door the hope is that anyone who approaches will be scared off by the viciousness or impending harm that may befall them.

What is lurking behind the mask, what must be hidden from the onlookers? Fear, pure unadulterated fear is hiding there. The louder the protest, the deeper the rage, the greater the fear has manifested. What is so frightening? It is the possible outcome of the situation that elevates this emotion. Fear of losing someone or something important, fear that they are not being respected, fear that the person who has caused the 'affront' thinks they are less, fear of acceptance or the lack of it... so many emotions lurk in these shadows. The rage is intended to drive you away, to back you up and to restate a position they feel is being challenged. They fear an anticipated outcome of whatever is at stake.

This is a learned response, one that shields a deeply personal feeling of inadequacy or unacceptability by the people around them. It is, in the mind of the offender, a weapon to prevent the loss from becoming more substantial. They believe they are in control of the situation although the desired outcome is rarely achieved. The opposite is true; when anyone's behavior is out of control the other person is in control. In every situation someone is in control. The enraged person is out of control.

When deep anger and rage become an issue in your life, whether it is your own or someone who really matters to you step back and assess what is in jeopardy, what can be lost? If you squarely address the real issue the anger is able to subside. Difficult though it may be, stepping aside from what is purported to be the real issue and examining the fear behind the response can soothe the scarring that lies within that fire inside.

The Big "What If"

Woman Holding Bonzai Tree

What you genuinely want does matter, not the silly "what if" questions you have about it, if the goal is right for you do not matter. Let me explain: Reality as we all can feel genetically from birth pretty much is a double-edged sword of sorts and there is a certain way we all must swim if we want to live off of the fat of the land and be genuinely rich in our hearts and souls. So, here is the measuring rod to whether your goal is right for you.

  1. Is it important to you?
  2. Does it feel good?
  3. Is it moral?
  4. Is it realistic?
I put "does it feel good?" before "is it moral?" for this reason to answer one of the deepest questions in life: This question appeals totally to your intuition and conscience exactly in that pecking order and nothing more. If you cannot answer question two successfully, you automatically cannot touch question three or four, even if question one is approved by others, supposedly. Let me put it another way even if that way is kind of controversial in some ways: So, let us say that you were Adolf Hitler with a choice to make about life at a time where it could go either way, and you had the power of those four questions to make the right choice quite clear in your mind. Would the same line of events have happened? Or would everything have happened differently? My point is that, even someone as evil as Adolf Hitler seemed with that choice would want to benefit themselves, really, and if they had the chance they would probably change fates or choices to accommodate that reality instead of going for that quick glory that ruins everything. That is the crux of my point, and that should show clearly the realistic import of an important, good feeling, moral and realistic goal that lines up with your intuition and conscience. But without that line up, you cannot benefit anyone or anything, especially yourself. Everything is and feels like just one big "No".
When everything lines up, everything is one big yes, even if you do fail at first, you know what is right and you stick to it until you genuinely do succeed. Is that simpler than the answer I gave above, or what? Then again, everything being what it is, we can try to lie to ourselves and never really succeed, just like Adolf Hitler if he followed the same life path with those honestly come by realities in his head right down to the cyanide bullets bitten. So, what you want genuinely does matter, when you do feel the answers accurately like Michael Jackson felt the song, music, moves and dance was right to make the money he made. I am also saying that if you go against the right feeling and attempt to lie to yourself, it will destroy you. Also, Michael Jackson knew the pain medication and artificial sleep drugs would destroy him, of course, indeed though at that level, he lied deeply to himself. After all, all of his genuine allies said he "had it together" on the stage very well, of course. It was off the stage in his "normal life" and reality, he was a "nutty mess". I also, mention this part as a warning, it is better to "have it together" in reality than to have a great show going on outside of reality if you get what I mean by now.

So, with all that said, what would you rather have? A great fantasy? Or a great reality where everything genuinely checks out successfully with that first question about "is it important?" answered well, and all the questions checking out right down to "is it realistic?" We all decide, and it is clear we do. The reality about human nature is:

"Character cannot be developed in ease and quiet. Only through experience of trial and suffering can the soul be strengthened, ambition inspired, and success achieved." Helen Keller
The key is there, open the door and go on through. I have the benefit of being honest with you about it all. If you want better, it has to be earned, not given. Thank you for reading.

How to Write Your Own Daily Affirmations (By Rosina S Khan)

Affirmations help you in that they allow you to stay positive and retain the positivity throughout the day. When do you use affirmations? You can make your own on a daily basis. How do you do that? Read on to find out.

For instance, you wake up one morning to find out that one of your kids has fallen off from her bed and broken her hand. A day that starts like this is certainly set for cloud and gloominess. But you write an affirmation sometime in the middle of the day in your lovely journal and feel better and more focused on positivity. Here it is:

My children are always well taken care of and I pray for their highest good.

What if it is a rainy day all day long one day?

You cannot go outside in the rain to the nearest supermarket and drip in rain. So you write an affirmation as follows in your journal and feel good for the rest of the day:

Today is a rainy day. So I like to cuddle with my family indoors and spend quality time with them.

You are hard at work, having a very busy schedule. But your colleagues urge you to join a treat in a nearby restaurant. You cannot let them down. So before leaving for that treat, you quickly write down an affirmation for your good as follows:

A lot of work has to be done. Yet I manage to take time out with my colleagues. It distracts me for a while and does me a world of good.

It's a summer day. All your children are dressed in white shorts and T-shirts. You and your hubby are dressed in summer clothes as well. Before you leave for Disneyland as you planned, you quickly drop down an affirmation in your journal as follows:

Today I feel happy to be with my family all set to go to Disneyland. I feel strongly that my hubby and the children are sure to have loads of fun.

Someone close to you in the family passed away at a young age. You feel so upset and teary at the thought. In order to control yourself, you write the following affirmation:

I cease to take life for granted. Yet while I am alive on this mighty planet, I make the best of everything.

It's one of your older friend's fiftieth birthday. You want to gift her something appropriate on the occasion but you have no idea what that would be. You think of a variety of possibilities and yet you cannot settle on anything. So you write an affirmation in your journal:

Dear God, I sincerely hope I can find the proper gift for Alice's birthday which comes to good use for her as well as make her happy.

Summing up, come to think of it, writing affirmations is not that much of a challenge. Think of the situation you are in and leverage it towards a positive thought and write it down. Yes, it can be that simple and easy breezy. The more you write them down and practice on a daily basis, the better expert you become in figuring out daily affirmations.

Hide Not From Pain

I think we are lied to growing up. I remember being fully aware that happiness is the ultimate goal in life, and that anything that hurts, anything that may momentarily bring us pain or discomfort, gets in the way. It feels as though happiness is painted as some end goal, some treasure that we can reach through years and years of seeking. Unfortunately, not only is this fundamentally false at every angle, but it is this sole belief, that happiness is something we can achieve, and that pain is in its way, that actually prevents us from feeling happy.

Happiness is a feeling, just like anger, hunger, and everything else we experience between our ears. The notion that happiness can be found, like some sort of Indiana Jones's quest is glamorizing and heartwarming to hold onto as truth, but it is erroneous in its claims. The 9 year sitcom, One Tree Hill, explains this when a character named Julian states that, "Happiness is not a destination. It is a mood, it is not permanent. It comes and goes and if people thought that way then maybe people would find happiness more often."

A common belief that I hear way too often from people my age is that money, a family, a home, or (insert material object here) is the key to happiness, and that they won't be happy until that achieve that. This, as unfortunately I have learned, and they will too, is also an error in thinking. Time magazine states that, there is an median amount of money that produces happiness in terms of an ease of mind and lack of financial stress, but anything above this amount does not directly correlate to more happiness.

Another factor in this is the Adaptation Theory. The Adaptation Theory, at a basic level, essentially states that we are constantly evolving in response to changes in our environment. We adapt, it is an essential human trait, but it has a flip side. We don't feel the same way about our partners as we did in the beginning (relationships grow and evolve, which is another topic for another time), the object we bought does not excite us as it once did, or the home we have has become regular as days have passed. This is why we don't see a higher amount of happiness among the rich than we do amount the middle class, because we adapt to our situations. This means that the end result of achieving some feat that we have set our minds in does not give us life long happiness, but momentary happiness (which is also a good thing).

The great author Ryan Holiday shares this idea when he states, "When we are young and ambitious we are susceptible to what psychologists would call the belief in "conditional happiness." That if we get this, earn that, win this, get promoted to that, marry this or sleep with that, we will suddenly be happy. That we will suddenly feel good about ourselves if we get this good thing. It's only with time and the good fortune required to get those things that we begin to understand that this is a seductive and unreachable mirage. As soon as we get those things, we want other things-or they turn out to be disappointing or complicated. We expect that they will be free of our current problems but they aren't because we bring our problems to them (and create new problems along with them)."

On the flip side, pain, and situations that seemingly inhibit our happiness are not as bad as they have been stated to be. In fact, it is as a result of this pain, that we become better, happier, and more competent human beings. Pain in our society can be seen in many forms. It is physical, as we all know, but it is also emotional or mental, such as discomfort, and it is even situational, such as something, "bad" happening to you.

Unfortunately, we have structured our society around complete avoidance of pain. We have climate controlled environments in every structure we spend time in, we have pain reducing medication on hand at every corner, we even have fancy shoes and clothing to prevent any discomfort. This is a falsity, this idea that we can live without pain or discomfort, that we can create a world that fits on demands. As The Tools co-author Barry Michels states in an interview about how discomfort is what forces us to exit our comfort zones, "Life is painful, life is uncertain, and life requires ceaseless effort."

Social psychologist Brock Bastian states that this avoidance of pain is the reason that we have began raising our children differently as time has passed. To summarize a point he made in his Ted Talk "Why we need pain to feel happiness", Bastian states that we have, over time, raised our average grades handed out in schools from B's and C's, to A's. This is not due to smarter youth, but to a system created to attempt to alleviate any discomfort from their lives. He goes on to state that this protection of youth from discomfort is the sole reason we so so many young adults are struggling when they reach independence, why their is a rise in narcissistic personality traits, and a rise in anxiety and depression-related illnesses. By protecting our loved ones from pain, we are preventing them from building "physiological immunity".

It has long been understood that having tough times makes us better individuals. Epictetus, the ancient Greek Philosopher, stated, "Difficulties are things that show what men are." His Stoic counterpart, Seneca, had his own quote about difficulties, where he said, "Difficulties strengthen the mind, as labor does the body." I used to curse the sky that I was born into the life I led. I allowed envy to soak into my veins that other children had happy families, that other children didn't suffer with weight issues, that other children were "normal". Now, as I reflect on who I am, it is exactly those times that have shaped me. I would not be who I am if I didn't develop mental fortitude by watching my parents live the way they did, by living at the bottom of the food chain in school, by having my heart broken as a young adult, or by any other event that I perceived as negative, any event that in the moment, I wished would cease.

We hear so often people say that they would not change a thing about their pasts, because it has shaped who they were. When we look closely, what has shaped them? It has not been the easy times where they coasted through days, no it has been the ground shaking, earth shattering moments where they just had to focus on surviving until the next day. This pain, that we so actively avoid now, in any extent, is the pain that allows us to grow. These unforeseen circumstances that we perceive as bad, such as a divorce, a breakup, an accident, etc, most of the time turn out to be some of the best moments in our lives. Zeno who was a Greek merchant before he was a philosopher, was bound to embark on a journey via ship. Unfortunately (as perceived in the moment), the ship wrecked, and Zeno ended up in Athens, without any of his belongings. It was there, where he began his voyage in philosophy. He later states, "Now that I've suffered shipwreck, I'm on a good journey."

This does not mean to go actively seek out pain, but do not fear it. If slightly physical pain presents itself, allow your body to live in it, instead of dousing it with medication. If you feel yourself avoiding a conversation, meeting, or person because of the discomfort that arises inside of you, lean into it. If you find yourself in a situation where you're certain that what is occurring is negative and will not help you at all, take a step back and attempt to see the positive outcomes from the situation, because I promise you, there are always positive outcomes.

To close, let's look at an experiment that Brock Bastian lays out for us in his TED Talk. People were asked to indicate the measure of their lifetime adversity that have overcome. Once indicated, people who asked to hold their hands in an ice bucket. The results are not shocking to those who understand the benefits of pain. Those who suffered a median amount of lifetime adversity held their hands in the water longer, and experienced less pain than those who did not experience adversity in their lives. On the flip side, the scientists changed the experiment to a survey on happiness and well-being in life. The group with the median lifetime adversity came out on top again. The ones with moderate measures of lifetime adversity were able to experience more pain in the moment, but also had more feelings of happiness in their lives overall. This pain that they felt in their pasts helped them become resilient.

As we move forward, hide not from pain, but embrace it. Fear not having your loved ones suffer, or your children fail in school. Pain will not ruin them, it will not ruin you. Pain will not inhibit you from feeling happiness, but to the contrary, it is this pain that will strengthen you, that will allow you to understand positive emotions in life.

Uncovering ways to feel happy is how successful people grow, and what highly effective individuals strive for.

Uncover the Light which is your inner divine Self, and although we know the importance of feeling excellent, the majority of time in life we forget it.

We are so hectic at handling the "important matters" we must oversee every day and fulfill, and we forget the more important matter" Feeling excellent, live a tension totally free life".

Remember, A Course in Miracles teaches about tapping into and being aligned with the center of your inner Light. It's the highest quality of Who and What you are!

This is a technique that you hold in mind a favorable image, a minute of your past where you were feeling excellent, or simply a thought of an occasion that makes you feel all lit up inside.

Some people discover it is difficult to hold an image, and my response to them is just pretend you see what makes you begin feeling excellent.

Message From the Universe: When Your Thoughts Becomes a Reality

"Are you so sure it's not the dancer who creates the music she moves to? Or the painter who manifests the mountains he captures? Or the tycoon who builds the empire before there's a dime?

Whatever you want, let it exist first in your mind, imagine every nuance and consideration, let the walls have substance, the halls have depth, and the money have weight in the palm of your hand, and then all that's necessary to bring it to pass will be drawn unto you.

Sneaky, clever, foxy, wry -
The Universe"

Everything in your life will start with a thought that your mind and soul created. If positive in nature, you will feel good about it, inspired and very energetic about the possibilities of it becoming a reality. You work towards making your dreams come true and will stop at nothing to bring them to term. Forget the outside influence as they do not understand your passion for success and relentless pursuit to becoming the best. Life is to short to just follow the crowd and do what others are doing to just be accepted. Forget that approach to life. It is reserved ONLY for the weak minded people. If you are strong, you need to show it to yourself that you will never let yourself get influenced by those who are too scared to take risk and fear that others are courageous enough to follow their dreams and accomplishing great things in life. They are mostly afraid to be left behind with their miserable jobs and not moving towards anything.

Stay away from people like that and whatever you do today, do it for yourself. Don't wait for others approval to move forward or taking action. No one is concerned with your welfare or wishes you success. Everyone focuses on themselves and their own success so they do not have time to focus on yours. So when it comes to sharing your life on social media, think twice before spilling out the beans by posting everything about your life, including your dreams and goals. You will ONLY attract negativity coming your way and you don't need that at the beginning stage of your venture. Keep the important things to yourself and only share the crap on social media that would have NO impact in your life.
