Just Because It Feels Right Doesn't Make It Right (By Tim Connor)

You would be amazed at how many people let their feelings rather than common sense or reality determine their attitudes, behavior, and decisions. Now, I'm not implying that all feelings are not appropriate or don't have value when it comes to life and career choices and actions but in a world driven today by so many emotional circumstances you might just want to pause or even check your feelings at the door before you make serious decisions or react or respond to various situations.

Let me give you a couple of real examples that I have witnessed in the past several days while on the road speaking in several states.

Flying back from Oklahoma a few weeks ago, the gate agent seemed to be in a depressed mood. They just weren't very friendly, accommodating or interested in my question. So, being who I am I tried to make them laugh with a simple and straight-forward comment (innocent and non-threatening in any way). Well - they jumped all over me with "Who do you think you are talking to me that way? I don't have to put up with your crap. I can't believe anyone could be that insensitive." Etc. Etc.

Needless to say, I ended the conversation and headed back to my seat and opened my book and started reading.

While eating lunch at a restaurant I overheard the couple behind me give the server the "you better or else" treatment because they didn't bring the bread to the table fast enough. They then complained to the manager (where everyone within earshot could hear) about the experience and saying the person should be fired.

Ever had anyone blow up at you when what you said or didn't say or did or didn't do that was as kind, compassionate, simple etc. that even someone from another planet would not interpret incorrectly but they did?

Folks, just because you are in a hurry and behind me in line doesn't mean I have to rush the person in front of me.

Just because it's raining, and you don't like rain doesn't mean I have to listen to your ranting and raving about rain. Just because I am an insensitive idiot doesn't mean you have to put up with me and don't have the right to walk away or leave the room.

But, it doesn't help when we "lose it" regardless of the importance or lack of it in any situation. And believe me, we are living at a time when a lot of folks have really thin skin or any number of rules, expectations or guidelines as to what is acceptable or even allowed currently in today's world according to their values, beliefs etc. no matter how far out of reality they might be.

Don't believe me? I have over 3000+ articles on a variety of various global websites and add several new ones each week and believe me - I get at least ten emails a day from someone around the world who takes issue with what I have said or how I have said it. Get over it...

Trust me - I'm not implying that I am right, the smartest person in the Universe, the most experienced, the best at anything or even smarter than you - but I do have the right to share my opinion, idea, comment - whatever - and yes you have the right to comment back to me about it - but let me ask you - do you really think you help your cause by making it (your disagreement with me) public to everyone - everywhere?

When we let our feelings - which are nothing more than internal emotional expressions of beliefs, values, attitudes, expectations, rules etc. shared in an external way - we might want to consider that the person in front of us, behind us or even next to us, just is not interested in our ranting, raving or our opinion.

I have seen more people on social media sites share personal stuff that I just can't believe that they would want out there in public. Do you really think most people care that you were dumped? Do you think most people care that I am lonely, angry, frustrated - whatever? Yes, maybe a few close friends, relatives or maybe even co-workers or clients might care or have an interest - but the whole world?

Do you really need that much attention? Are you really that insecure? Are you really that needy? Are you really that narcissistic?

We all have life issues, challenges, problems, disappointments, failures, losses, frustrations etc. But do you really think the entire world gives a crap about all of your stuff?

Again, it's simple - if you don't like my article - stop reading. Throw it away. Delete it - whatever. If you don't like the movie - leave. If you don't like the TV show - use the remote. If you don't like the noise in the restaurant - leave. If you disagree with someone on a social media site - delete them, unfriend them, unfollow them.

It's not that complicated.

If I care, I care and if I don't I don't. If I do it's because you and I are emotionally connected in some way. If I don't that doesn't make me disrespectful, uncompassionate or any other negative emotional response.

There is an incredible amount of pain and suffering everywhere in the world today. I've seen it in every one of the 45 counties I have spoken in or visited. Hunger, death, pain, loss, suffering etc. is rampant everywhere in the world and even in our country. I can't be there for everyone, but I can be there for the people that matter in my life or I know personally. This doesn't mean I am not aware or sensitive to all of the global, national or community pain and wrongdoing but none of us have the capacity to spend our time and life just feeling for what everyone around us is feeling or experiencing while disregarding our own lives.

I don't care if it's the ASPA, St. Jude, Shriners or Savelives.com. I can't be there for everyone and everyone can't be there for me.

I don't know about you but the continuous expression on social media by people who feel they are experiencing unique life challenges that the rest of us have never had to deal with - well, trust me - I've been there and so have you.

How to Feel Fulfilled by Your Tasks

Your hands may be full of chores, tasks and to-do errands. You may be grumbling and complaining silently all the time. You are not happy. All of this can change within a simple shift in attitude. Do you know what it is? Read on to find out.

From the grumbling and complaining mode, change your thoughts to humbler and more enjoyable ones. Notice how the environment around you shifts. All of a sudden, you start to feel joy and pleasure in everything. So what is exactly the secret?

The secret lies in the fact that you relax and enjoy the process, determined to complete the chores, tasks and errands. Sometimes you delegate them to your family members or colleagues at work, further simplifying your life and enjoying and loving life even more.

If you think domestic chores and work tasks are exhausting and burdensome, you will feel stressed out and disempowered all the time. The trick is to change your mood to an enlightened and jubilant tone so that you can pour love into everything you do at work and home and be joyously happy.

The more you love everything you do without taking them as burdens, the more you fall into pace with life. Relationships with your spouse and family as well as your Boss and colleagues at work become strong and healthy. Also prosperity and abundance flow graciously into your life and you ultimately become financially free.

So you see, my valuable reader, it's so important that you love the duties of life and carry them out not only sincerely and loyally but also feeling contented and fulfilled.

So the next question comes up as to how you would feel fulfilled by your tasks. You sort it out. There must be some tasks that I said earlier that you can delegate to others - these may be the ones that do not stir up and excite you. On the other hand, probably you like picking up your children from school, for instance and celebrating happily on the way back home, driving and listening to your children's favorite songs in the music player of your car.

Likewise pick those stuff that you enjoy doing and pour extra love into them and you will thrive. Sometimes there are tasks that do not inspire us but a shift in attitude can do the trick. If under some circumstances, you do not relish some tasks at all, walk away from them and assign them to a family member or hire a person to do them. This is life.

Always remember to feel fulfilled by your tasks and you will surely soar higher and higher, reaching the promising stars of the sky. Gotcha?

Unhappy People - Why Some People Would Rather Be Unhappy Than Happy

Do you know how to be happy on the roller coaster ride of life? No matter how well off some people are, they would rather be unhappy than happy. Do you know why? Read on to find out.

Here are a few reasons:

1) They have been wired to think negative from their childhood. They cannot change their attitude. They would rather remain unhappy which is ideal for them.

2) They had suffered from some trauma in their childhood and they cannot change their frown to a smile. They are unable to let go of the past.

3) They compare themselves to others without being aware of the fact that they have fewer problems than their neighbors. Nevertheless, they can't help envying their neighbors' assets, properties and their lot.

4) They have never known what peace of mind is. Their life has been a total turmoil and they have been going down with the abyss of darkness. They are unable to turn things around and have cluttered minds. Little do they know there is a way to getting what they want and have peace of mind.

5) They do not follow morning rituals unlike what so many people of modern day do. They like to be lazy and remain unhappy. They have never known the magic of morning rituals.

6) They do not believe in personal development and are rather of the older generation. Personal development has taken the world by the storm and everybody in the modern day wants to become their best version through self-help books and programs. But some people do not find interest in them, remain backward and experience unhappiness all the time.

7) For some people, happiness has no meaning for them. They would rather complain, grumble, blame others, lose their temper, behave badly and remain unhappy.

8) They do not know what would interest them to earn their living. So they stick to toilsome routine work which is not lively or interesting. They haven't known how easier and flexible it would have been if they found out what they loved to do passionately and monetize it, rolling in money more smoothly. Rather they would do something of monotony bearing no happiness or delight.

When people who remain unhappy cannot be helped, they become outcasts and aliens in the society. Yet probably these people would still like to remain old-fashioned, be out of reach of help and stay unhappy.

Under these circumstances, if an organization like NGO and/or volunteers took some measures to help and make them understand the reality, maybe there could be some fresh round of hope for this minority of unhappy people.

Building a Strong Body: Tao of Stress Management

In Chinese Medicine, it is said that the Jing, or Essence, is the physical manifestation of Qi (Vital Energy). Based on this principle, it is essential to have a strong physical foundation in order to sustain good energy levels, emotional stability, and mental clarity. So, effective stress management MUST start with building a strong body that can function harmoniously in any situation.

We Need Stress

Stress is a natural part of life, and it can't be avoided. In fact, a life without stress is not life at all. One must be challenged in order to grow and thrive.

In today's fast-paced world it is easy to become overwhelmed by stress. Stress from work, relationships, financial problems, and the crazy pace of information exchange can create a constant drain on your life, energy and health - if you let them.

And, therein lies the key. You have a choice. Are you going to let things control you? Or, are you going to take charge of your circle of influence and make it as peaceful and productive as possible?

If you choose to take charge, the most important thing to know is this: What can I control?

The answer to that question is rather simple, but many of us simply don't see it. Simple things are like that. They are elusive because as humans we have a tendency to overcomplicate things. But, when we can clear our minds and mute our pride long enough to see through all the little games we play, the simple truth shines through.

In this series I will be telling you things that you've probably already heard. They are simple and straightforward -- so much so that our overcomplicated minds have trouble believing them. Keep an open mind and this will all make sense.

The ABCs of Stress Management

The first step in effective stress management is to simply stop creating more stress for yourself. As humans we are masters of creating stress, and the reason for this is that we are always trying to control what we can't control. Being out of control can be very stressful, so it is important to learn what we can control, then learn how to let go of the things we can't.

The things we can control are what I like to call the "ABCs" of stress management: Attitude, Breathing, and Choices.

Think about it for a minute. Is there ANYTHING you really control outside of those three aspects of your life?

When you get a handle on your attitude, learn to control your breathing, and learn to make positive, beneficial choices for yourself, you are well on your way to stress-reduction and long-term stress-management.

Taking Control of Your Physical Body

The first step in effective stress management is to take control of your body's health. We do this primarily by making good choices, but we also need to adjust our attitude towards ourselves.

The most effective way to a stronger body is the same thing we already know: proper diet and a healthy lifestyle that includes regular exercise. When you incorporate these into your regular habits, you are choosing to feel better, be stronger, and prepare yourself to meet life's challenges in a balanced way.

Here are a few foundations you can implement to help yourself better manage stress right now.

Sleep - The Cornerstone of Stress Management

Your body has a miraculous ability to restore and heal itself. The vast majority of its restorative powers are at work while you sleep. This is another expression of your body's intelligent function -- while you are awake and responding to stress, the cells and tissues are in "fight" mode, hence most of your body's resources are directed at the muscles, skin, and sense organs.

At night, however, your body goes into healing overdrive. Glands and deep internal organs become infused with blood, and the resting state of the muscles and sense organs allows your "sixth sense" to take over and direct a massive reconstruction effort. This reconstruction is designed by nature to keep you fresh, alert, and ready to handle the stresses of the following day.

Even the most advanced conventional drugs and medicines fail to compare to the effects of rest and recuperation during illness.

Your ability to handle stress is dramatically weakened by sleep deprivation, because your body is not able to restore itself. It is like a road that is never maintained -- the cars keep driving over it, the weather keeps beating cracks and holes into it, and nobody ever comes to smooth it over or clean it up. Over time it becomes more and more difficult to drive that road.

Therefore, without adequate sleep and rest, you only ensure that your road in life becomes less smooth and more difficult to navigate.

The commonly recommended amount of sleep is 6 - 8 hours nightly. I encourage you to make 8 hours the minimum, and to get more from time to time when it is feasible.

Sleep well, and it will help you be well.

Build a Stronger Body and You Will Build a Better Life

You Can Choose

Often, I hear individuals complain about a situation in life that they do not like. It might involve their relationships, career, finances or perhaps events occurring in various places throughout the world. They seem to think that talking about how they are suffering will make things better. It won't!

If you are struggling, there are things that you can do. Here are your choices:

  1. Protect yourself from information involving world catastrophes - If you are anxious about weather systems or traumatic events that are happening in other locations you would probably be wise to turn off the television and internet. There isn't anything that you can do about these things and filling your mind with doom and gloom with just negatively impacts your well-being.
  2. Wallow in your personal misery - If you want to just sit and commiserate without taking action, chances are that nothing will get resolved. Fretting about family conflict, finances or your career could end up causing you both physical and mental pain. I remember a children's book that I would read to my children when they were young. One of the main characters was Fred Flintstone. He was trying to help an acquaintance who was always miserable. At the end of the story Fred came to the conclusion that some people just aren't happy unless they are miserable! Hopefully that won't be you!
  3. Do nothing about the problem but change your attitude - Perhaps you are not prepared to take action but can learn to accept the problems without angst. Many people put one foot in front of the other for years and years in jobs that they do not love. They won't consider making a change but continue on without complaint because they feel that they are receiving financial benefits and don't have better options. Others stay in relationships where they aren't happy but honour the commitment they made to stay married without complaining aloud.
  4. Research and form a plan to create change - Perhaps you need to speak with someone who has expertise in the area where you are struggling. Reaching out to an objective party could be exactly the thing that will help you deal with the problems you have been experiencing. Maybe you will enroll in an education program, work with a financial planner or discuss your psychological problems with a therapist. Gathering information will give you a much broader perspective.
  5. Make change happen! The day that you begin to take action, things begin to change. That doesn't mean that everything will immediately be perfect but the chances of coming to a better place in life are optimized. One step at a time you will begin to notice things. Adopting a new menu will lead to your clothes fitting better. Spending less than you earn will quickly begin a path to financial health. Cleaning one drawer will begin a process for organizing your life!
You can choose what your future will look like. Which of the above choices will you make?

Reason Why Your Attitude Will Determine Your Altitude

Ever notice your attitude will determine your altitude? Can you find a reason why? Read on to find out.

Consider the following two scenarios.

Scenario 1:

You are near a beach with your housewife. You have three children playing in the sand. You play with them for a while and come and lay beside your wife and bask in the sun. You hold a fun conversation with her. You are in harmony with your family. They can do nothing for you and yet, you are the earning member of the family and provide for your family lovingly. You even thought of bringing them to this great summer vacation and spending time near the beach.

Scenario 2:

You are at home fighting and disputing with your wife. Your children are crying helplessly. You are not earning enough for your family while you wife wants food on the table for the survival of the children at least. You quarrel more grumpily and have lost hope. How to provide for my family, you reflect. You ask, why is there so much scarcity in the family?

Given the two scenarios, the man in the first scenario treats family gently and well. He earns enough to provide for his family, all of whom depend on him helplessly. Yet, he is kind at heart and looks for ways to meet their needs. The Universe looks for ways to give further to this man since the Universe finds him the right vibration match to equip him further and carry him further up the ladder of success. The man's attitude has been tested by the Universe and he has passed the test. That is why the Universe is bending towards him to give him more. This is the magic of life, and attitude is the root of all.

In the second scenario, the man has a scarce mindset. He does not seem to know how to provide for his family and meet their needs. He suffers in silence. Yet, his attitude is responsible for his situation. He should work on to improve his skill set and get a higher paying job. He should encourage his wife to work also at whatever level she can. Together they can thrive and be a happy family. If he follows this attitude, the Universe will shower them with more abundance and wealth. The man initially needs to replace his scarce mindset with an abundant one. Soon money will flow in and they will be one of the happiest families in the neighborhood. The man needs to ask the right questions, have the right mindset and above all, have the right attitude and everything falls together then.

Summing up, the two scenarios help us to understand how attitude determines altitude for a man. He can rise up the ladder of success with the Universe magnifying him every step of the way only if he cares to have the right attitude. Because that will determine how much he will soar and the altitude he will reach. Gotcha?

Within A Thinking Person, The Life Of Fear Is Limited

The fundamental thing in life is the courage to live life. With that simple sentence, I begin this article. There are many things we all need to overcome before we do "make it where we want to go", and even then: There is work and usually lots of it to do after that. I remember when my Dad was dying in 1990. He basically said that it was not the end for his consciousness and that there was more to do for him elsewhere and somehow. To be honest, I wanted so bad to think he was "delusional" or "crazy" somehow. But, being that there is not any end to change, and never any end to the need for courage over fear. I am convinced that he was and is right in so many ways, and courage that is consistent is a process, a consistent process, not an end to be "achieved permanently" without anything else to do to achieve it.

To prove my point about fear implied in the title of this article, let me go into the nature of panic: When one panics, thought is literally stopped, and fear literally takes over. Where there is courage, and genuine courage, not overconfidence I might add, there is not any panic. What I mean by overconfidence is misunderstanding, what confidence is in the most positive sense is certainty and understanding in the most pure, real, honest and genuine sense.

The mental and spiritual attitude is the valve and lever to reality, and the mental and spiritual attitude can be used to control or lose control of reality. Fear is an attitude as well as courage. Reality misunderstood and feared is a form of panic, and the absence of thought is a form of misunderstanding. With that, I would like to reiterate a formula I give in many other articles:

Patience, understanding and tolerance is the key to a life without panic or fear. Oh, it sounds easy, and it is simple. But like so many worthwhile things, it takes work, it take honesty, and it takes a working conscience, and ultimately it takes a cool, actively thinking mind that takes rational action whatever the circumstances.

Sure, I can talk about rational thinking and action, but, even for me, I have to "play by ear" and force it to happen within and outside of myself and I do flinch, but I ultimately realize that life is only as good as my attitude is and strive to do the right thing by life and existence instead of the wrong. The wrong is always based on panic and fear. The right is always backed by courage and faith. Know that consistent process, and life will ultimately work, whatever the temporary failure, even the seeming "death of a situation". I will simply end with these words that I meditate on honestly and you should too: I get it and I will work with it however it comes. That is tolerance. Understanding is full context perception without prejudice. Patience underpins it all for me, for that is where the peace is. Well, I will leave you some room to think and act, but I have said my peace.

High Self Esteem Tips and the Most Important Ways to Improve Them

Introduction

Self-esteem definition

The esteem word comes from a Latin word which means "estimate." This means that self-esteem is how one estimates or regards themselves.

Self-esteem can be caused by both internal and external factors.

Self-esteem could also be defined as the reflection of one's overall subjective emotional evaluation of their worth. It's basically the judgment of oneself as well as attitude towards yourself.

High self-esteem

High/ Healthy self-esteem is basically feeling positive about yourself and valuing yourself correctly.

This can be increased by external factors such as parents, teachers, and coaches among others.

This is people who give a positive feedback even in hard situations which could have been considered as a failure.

Pillars of increasing self-esteem.

Self-esteem can be increased through positivity. The following are the main pillars of feeling good about yourself.

1. Personal integrity - Without the practice of personal integrity, you may be positive but not have the sense of what your ideas, conviction believes, and standards are to use as a basis for measuring how you are performing. Integrity comes when people's behaviors match their preferred values or when practices and ideals match. Integrity helps people evaluate themselves.

2. Self-discipline- According to Lao-tzu "People who command others are powerful, but those who have mastered themselves are more powerful. People cannot attain total awareness and enlighten without proper discipline and practice." Self-discipline enables people to cope with challenges of life. With self-discipline, one can project consequences into the future by thinking and planning.

3. Living purposefully- This is whereby one uses their powers to achieve goals. Goals could be different such as studying, building a family, sustaining a relationship or even solving a problem. Through goals, self-esteem can be raised since it's our goals that lead us forward and energize our existence.

4. Self-assertiveness- Assertiveness is basically acting and doing everything from your innermost convictions and feelings. The importance of this pillar is for one to be real. Acting from themselves and not copying other. Doing what they feel is right but not what others think.

5. Self-responsibility- Responsibility is being able to stand by what you believe or what. Not running away because of fear of conviction but standing for the truth and believe. When you respond to life challenges, you are responsible.

6. Self-acceptance- This is understanding oneself and engaging problems to find solutions in a positive way. Without self-acceptance, people tend to be influenced easily, and people are aiming to downgrade you can easily do it. Once you accept yourself, you will stick by your life rules of taking the positives and leaving the negatives. Therefore self-acceptance is a good way to boost self-esteem.

Low self-esteem.

Low self-esteem is the belief that something is wrong even when it's not. People with low self-esteem cannot stand for what they believe and are majorly influenced by others.

People go to the extent of deeming themselves stupid simply because a person made them think they are failures and that they cannot achieve specific purposes which they ended up believing. Low self-esteem is majorly developed from childhood.

What you see or hear in childhood can affect your confidence when growing up. This could have resulted from the family with instances like family conflicts and divorces, from the community whereby your family could have been perceived as poor and failures or even from the school whereby you feel to have been treated differently of the feeling of hatred.

What causes low self-esteem?

Negligent Parents. As a rule, and especially when we're youthful, our sentiments about ourselves are intensely affected by how others feel about and treat us - particularly our folks or gatekeepers.

Everybody merits a cherishing family, yet some youngsters have the setback of not getting sufficient help at home.

Guardians or gatekeepers with emotional well-being issues, substance mishandle issues, or different difficulties will most likely be unable to give their kids the care, direction and consideration they require and merit.

This can cause huge confidence issues for youngsters, as the individuals who should nurture those most may not appear to.

Negative Peers. Similarly, as the way we're dealt with by guardians or gatekeepers can extraordinarily impact our confidence, so can the way we're dealt with by peers.

Being a piece of a social gathering that cuts you down - by not regarding you, by influencing you to do things you're not happy with, by not esteeming your musings and emotions, and so on - can make you have a craving for something isn't right with you, or that the main path for you to be enjoyed is to do what others need and not tune in to your own heart and psyche.

This is extremely harming to how you see yourself.

Injury/ Mishandle - whether physical, enthusiastic, sexual or a blend of these - frequently causes sentiments of disgrace and even blame.

A man may feel that he or she accomplished remark the mishandle, that he or she was not deserving of the regard, love, and care of the abuser.

Individuals who have endured manhandle may have a lot of tension and gloom related to the occasion too, which can meddle with a man's capacity to lead a satisfying life.

Self-perception. The University of Washington's Teen Health and the Media website page reports that 53% of young ladies reviewed were despondent with their bodies, a number that ascents to 78% by the age of 17.

In her book, I'm, Like, SO Fat!, Dianne Neumark Sztainer reports that half of adolescent young ladies and 30% of teenager young men rehearse undesirable practices with an end goal to get in shape, including skipping suppers, retching, smoking cigarettes, fasting and utilizing purgatives.

Self-perception is a colossal factor in youngsters' confidence, particularly that of young ladies.

From the minute we're conceived, we're encompassed by doubtful pictures of what ladies should resemble, what the "perfect" body sort is.

Ladies' bodies are always generalized in the media, influencing it to appear just as their bodies exist for others to take a gander at, touch, utilize, and so forth.

At the point when pubescence comes around, and our bodies begin to transform, they don't change into what we see on magazine covers or in music recordings.

This can prompt feeling ugly and deficient, over the significant debilitation that accompanies seeing your body as a question for others to observe.

While young ladies are lopsidedly influenced by self-perception messages, young fellows aren't resistant.

Numerous young fellows' battle with low confidence related with weight and body organization - especially concerning bulk.

The body of a man isn't such a great amount of regarded in our way of life as a question for others,

yet as an indication of his manliness. Young fellows may feel forced to grow huge muscles as a show of quality and masculinity; they may likewise feel reluctant about their tallness.

Unreasonable Goals. Regardless of whether the weight originates from themselves, specialist figures or companions, some youngsters expect an excessive amount of themselves as far as school accomplishment, extracurricular contribution or potentially economic wellbeing.

The individuals who battle scholastically may figure they ought to get straight A's constantly; the individuals who perform well scholastically may attempt to go up against excessively numerous different exercises and hope to be "the best" at all of them.

Youngsters who hunger for ubiquity may anticipate that everybody will like them - something that just doesn't occur, on the grounds that, regardless of your identity, you can't please everybody.

The inescapable inability to meet unlikely objectives may prompt the inclination that you are a disappointment as a rule.

Past Bad Choices. Some of the time we get bolted into a specific example of basic leadership and acting.

Maybe you haven't been a decent companion before.

Perhaps you didn't put forth a concentrated effort in school.

Perhaps you took an interest in unsafe practices like medication utilizes or unprotected sex. You may believe you're only "the sort of individual" who acts in those ways.

You may even aversion yourself essentially as a result of past decisions, however, don't figure you can change courses now.

Along these lines, you won't attempt.

You'll keep settling on decisions that strengthen your own negative self-see.

Negative Thought Patterns. When you get used to the feeling, considering yourself especially, it progresses toward becoming propensity.

You've presumably known about muscle memory - once you've played out specific physical activities like riding a bicycle, again and again, your mind naturally flags your muscles to do whatever that movement requires - keeping you adjusted on the seat, for instance.

Your considerations and emotions really work similarly now and again.

In the event that you have frequently felt that you're useless or second rate, on the off chance that you continually think negative musings and say negative things in regards to yourself, at that point you're probably going to continue feeling and thinking a similar way unless you break the cycle by testing your negative considerations and emotions about yourself.

Similarly, as our muscle memory can take in the wrong approach to play out a physical movement, our idea and feeling recollections can learn mistaken examples

Other factors that may lead to low self-esteem include; Poor academic performance, early sexual involvement, teen pregnancies, alcohol and substance abuse among others.

Ways of improving self-esteem

• Stop you inner criticism - This is the best point to start building your self-confidence again. Stop criticizing yourself in everything that you do.

Self-criticism leads people to just doing things that please others in order for them to feel appreciated instead of doing what is right.

This leads those to start feeling terrible about themselves thus the inner hate start.

Avoid the inner criticism by doing telling it off.

Do what you feel good and see the positivity rather than the negativity.

• Use healthy motivation habits - Make the inner voice very weak by taking actions that raise your esteem.

This can be done by focusing on doing what you really like to do, reminding yourself of the importance and benefits of achieving specific goals and ensuring self-encouragement by taking negatives as an improvement point.

• Write three things you appreciate about yourself - By seeing at least three things you love about yourself every day helps improve your self-esteem.

Low self-esteem is caused by lack of appreciation, therefore, seeing positives about yourself is a good way to start developing a good relationship with yourself.

• Hand mistakes and failures in your life in a positive way - This can be achieved by making yourself your best friend.

Instead of fighting yourself because of a simple problem collect yourself and try to find a solution to the problem by yourself.

Changing your negative point of view is always good to stop fighting yourself.

• Be a kind person to other people- When you are good to other people you tend to be good to yourself too.

Always take a minute to help a person who is in dire need and encourage other people when they are unmotivated.

With such acts, you start seeing yourself as an important person, and self-believe starts creeping in.

• Try something fresh/new- If what you have been doing in the past has been a disappointment to low then you can abandon it and start over again.

You should know you cannot start a new life from the beginning all you need is getting over the past and trying something more positive and appealing to you.

• Avoid destructive people- Spend more time with constructive people and people who you are comfortable with.

Avoid people who make you feel unwanted no matter how close they are.

• Stop comparing yourself with others - Everyone is unique in their own way, and someone's achievement is not your achievement.

Comparing your self will only make you feel like a failure.

More to that it makes you try things that may be hard for you. Accept yourself and do things as you not as another person.

Self-esteem exercises that may help improve your self-esteem

Success is majorly anchored on self-esteem. With healthy self-esteem, you can set goals and achieve them. There are exercises that can help improve self-esteem. Such exercises include;

Listing at least 10 things you love about yourself- When you are feeling negative about yourself write things you love about yourself.

You can write them in a notebook and explain each so that you can improve your image. If you get the ten positives just keep looking for more.

List five achievements you are proud of - When there is a lot of negativity one can forget their past achievements.

Reminding yourself about your achievements helps you know that you are capable of achieving even more in the future.

List people you have helped and people who have helped you- By listing people you have helped help to show you that you are important to other people as they can depend on you when they are in need.

While listing people who have helped you in the past helps you to know that no matter how hard the situation is there are people who are ready to give their helping hand.

List things you appreciate about your life - This helps you realize that you are important to yourself.

Self-esteem issues are best solved by the affected individuals and the experienced advisors.

It's always important to handle this issues in a positive way.

It's important to ensure that you are not the cause of low self-esteem to others. Always work to improve other confidence.

Helping others does not make you less human but also helps to improve your confidence also.

According to Marianne Williamson self-esteem quote "Peoples, deepest fear is not that they are inadequate.

Their deepest fear is that they are powerful beyond measure.

It's their light, not their darkness that most frightens them.

They ask themselves 'who are they to be brilliant, talented, gorgeous or fabulous?

Actually, who are they not to be? They are Gods children.

There is nothing enlightened about behaving cowardly so that others won't feel insecure around you.

Everyone is made to shine. As you let your light shine you give other people to permission to shine theirs too. By not shining you may be hindering someone success too."

Don't let any other person make you feel bad so that they can shine. Star in your own way and keep encouraging yourself that you are as good as everyone else.

Positive self-esteem is important for healthy living and happy living too. Communication about feelings and problems is also essential in maintaining a healthy self-esteem.

What Are You So Angry About? 3 Steps to Identifying the Roots of Anger

Do you ever have trouble figuring out why you're angry or where it came from? You thought you were doing fine just minutes ago and then something provokes you and you maybe lash out, attack back, get snide or sarcastic, lecture somebody, insult them, grumble and gossip, plot revenge, or even fume or pout quietly. Anger has many looks and shades to it, doesn't it? How are you at even identifying when you are angry? I ask because it is quite difficult to sort out the causes and meanings of our anger if we aren't able to be aware of when we are experiencing it.

Step one: Identifying Anger

Maybe I have trouble identifying anger because I don't want to believe I am getting angry, or I really don't want to see how often I do. Maybe I believe that anger is bad or wrong? Some people do. Maybe I deny my anger because I am afraid of my anger or what I may do, or what people will think of me? Also common. Maybe I see it as embarrassing or losing self control? Maybe I had experienced being on the receiving end of anger and I told myself that I would never be angry like that? And so, what do I do? I either justify it or re-label it. Meaning I either focus on the external cause and blame my poor reaction on that, or I find a way to make it something else, something more acceptable. I may convert my anger into passive aggression, grudge holding and revenge, or with women in particular, maybe convert anger into tears. Another way we may convert our anger is to somaticize our emotions, which means converting them into physical symptoms, such as muscle tension, digestive problems, high blood pressure, or fatigue.

But re-labeling or converting my anger into something else and avoiding it only exacerbates the problem and doesn't help me to learn about the source of my anger and how to address it and manage my emotions in healthy ways. Step one means that I simply need to sift through my methods of avoidance and be willing to say - "I am angry". Becoming a less angry person sometimes actually involves a process in which you first get more angry. You're not really getting more angry, but it will seem that way as you become more aware of the anger you already have. The idea is to be able to do this without recriminations. I may feel guilty about how I reacted, and if I threw someone under the bus, and was unfair, then that would be appropriate. But, the reality of feeling anger and owning it is the goal here.

Step Two: Getting Underneath My Anger

Anger is considered a secondary emotion. What that means is that anger usually is representative of another emotion behind and underneath it. Now that I've identified that I am angry, I want to follow the trail back to the source, the root. I remind myself that my anger is telling me something about what is going on inside of me emotionally. My attitude is to play detective. Why? Why not just squash this unwanted emotion? Simply put, to the degree that I don't understand the roots or meanings of my anger is the degree to which I will be unhappy and disgruntled throughout my life. I realize that this can be hard work, but it really will be worth it to you.

How do I do this?

1. Ask yourself good questions about the meanings of your anger. What is it about what that person said or did? Seek descriptive words or metaphors to parse out your feelings.
2. Think back through your thoughts or perceptions concerning the event. How did I interpret the situation? Did I perceive an attack, or a slight? Did I feel rejected or misunderstood? Did I begin to go through worst case scenarios in my mind?
3. Try to recall times when you felt similarly to help you identify the meaning.
4. If you get stuck or come up blank, seek out a safe, trusted friend to help you talk it out and ask you probing questions.

Two common links to anger are hurt and disappointment. But since these are perceived as vulnerable or weak feelings, we are conditioned in our society to hide such feelings. One such way to hide them is to convert them into anger.

Step Three: Live Authentically

In Brene' Brown's Book, The Gifts of Imperfection, she refers to courage, and she explains that the word originally meant to "speak one's mind by telling all one's heart." 1 The author goes on to describe elements that are so important to becoming more authentic and emotionally healthy, and this notion of courageously being vulnerable leads the way. See, now that I have delved in and found out that there is something underneath my anger, something that's often more vulnerable - something like disappointment or loss or hurt - now I don't like that much. Now, I'm rather mad at that guy who wrote that article about anger! Although now I get why I gravitate to anger! Anger feels safer and less painful than feeling my vulnerability. But, the cat is now officially out of the bag. You can either move forward and address the underneath stuff, or you could go back and keep utilizing anger to cover up those things. One way leads to reduced anger and irritability and resentment and a better you. You already know which one is which.

Funny thing, but just acknowledging your underneath stuff actually helps. Just by being honest with yourself about your hurts is the beginning to healing them. Honesty matters. It means I am valuing my heart. Next comes daring to value and honor my heart with others. Yeah, it is risky. But learning that not everyone will respect your vulnerably also I think means finding out that some people will. And living authentically with those who respect you - that brings healing to our hurts and losses.

The Wrap Up
None of the steps are easy. If they were, we wouldn't be such an angry, disgruntled culture. That culture does present a challenge that you'll need to swim upstream against. There are plenty of folks who don't like someone being vulnerable. And I'll tell you the real reason why. It's not because vulnerable people are weak and so looked down upon and deserve to be trampled by the strong. Oh no. Sadly, reality is the opposite. It is true strength to be vulnerable and those without it fear it because it exposes them and shows what real strength and courage is. So it is mocked and referred to as weakness. You know, it's kind of like a dictator fearing that the people will figure out that if they rise up they would have more power than him. Personal maturity, emotion health, spiritual maturity are not lifted up by the world in general. God tells us not to be surprised by this in the Biblical book of I Peter. Jesus himself was not respected by the masses. But those who chose to get to know you will appreciate it. And you will be freer and more patient and more at peace. And you in the end just may discover that becoming less angry may make you less popular (only to some, mind you), and still happier and more content.

Ask Yourself, Why, You WANT, To Be, You?

I want to be me. These famous song lyrics, although, compelling, inspiring, and motivating, fail to answer, the key question, which is, why, you WANT to be, you! Groucho Marx told us, It's a matter of mind, over matter. If you don't have a mind, it doesn't matter! Few of us, seem, ready, willing, and able, to, truly, proceed, in an introspective, objective manner, and attempt, to give ourselves, a check - up, from the neck - up. With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, using the mnemonic approach, what this means and represents, and, why, the happiest, healthiest people, are those, who take the time, and make the effort, to learn, what makes them tick, and are able to be happy, with themselves, etc.

1. Who (are you); what (you think and believe); where (your personal vision): Who do you want to be, and are you, close to, being that person? How might you be happier, and more content/ self - satisfied? When was the last time, you focused on, what you, personally think, and believe, and proceeded, with the independence, to be, your own person, rather than simply, trying to fit - in, with any particular mold, society sets and creates? How important, to you, is your personal, vital vision, and where, do you aim, to be?

2. Attitude; attention; aptitude: When, one possesses, and proceeds, with a true, positive, can- do, attitude, he looks, at ways, to achieve, instead of, reasons, why he can't (or, it's impossible)! How one focuses his attention, often, determines, his results, and judgments! When this is combined, with the commitment, to, develop, the finest possible, skill - set, and well - developed, aptitude, you become able, to achieve, to the best of your potential!

3. Needs; nurture; nuances: When was the last time, you considered, thoroughly, your specific needs, and tried to nurture them, by coordinating your actions, with, what you seek, and desire? Rather than, merely trying to be accepted, by fitting - in, to the group, around you, develop a willingness to accept and use the nuances, which most appeal, to you, personally!

4. Timely; trends; truthful: It won't help you, if you lie, to yourself, so be, truthful, discover your true strengths, and weaknesses, as well as what makes you happiest! Never procrastinate, but commit, to, consistently, proceed, in a well - considered, timely manner! Make today's trends, your friends, by learning and analyzing them, and focusing, on your best, personal path!

What do you hope, and WANT, to be? If you won't, no one else, will care as much, as you do!

The Pains, Gains Of Self Talk

Car communication,talk,self talk,inner dialog,communication - free ...
Let us get right into the heart of this matter. What is self talk? Good question.

It is basically about you having a silent, inner talk, or dialogue with yourself. What is your own definition here, beloved reader?

It is about you, your mindset, your attitude, your choice, your fate. Do not accept everything and anything the world throws at you.

The words that come to my mind as I write this piece are: silent, inner, dialogue, repeat, conversation, positive, negative, progress, regress, pains, gains, etc.

You see, there are many distractions and negativities in our world today.

Modern life has the good, the bad and the ugly. Every person you meet daily is either your student or teacher.

So, we need to repeatedly talk with ourselves, to remain focus, not easily distracted, and be positive in our thought, word and deed.

THE PAINS

The pains of self talk come when we do not shield our objective and subconscious minds from distractions and negativities, coming through to us from the outside world.

When a friend says, 'You Cannot Make It', you can decide to accept or reject the statement. You have a choice, free will. We all have, you know.

If you accept this statement of your friend, it influences your mind negatively and stops you from making positive decisions that will lead to your progress in life.

Your friend now decides your life, your destiny, your fate. But he or she is not you God, except you have made the person one, or your sustainer. Bad copy

Daily, the media has a duty of bombarding all of us with news reports on violence, bloodbath, injustice, murder, whatever. As a journalist, I am guilty of this.

Also, there are journalists out there who write positive reports that help to bring about peace and progress in our world. The two sides of journalism.

THE GAINS

We should be positive and constructive in our self talks. If you reject your friend's 'You Cannot Make It' statement, knowing full well that talk is cheap, you will self talk yourself out of the mental trap the person has set for you.

Our inner, silent dialogue helps to keep us focus, not easily distracted, positive in our outlook, peaceful, progressive, and forward looking.

Yes, nobody on this earth plane can be hundred percent positive or negative. Our minds, especially when not trained fluctuate in seconds.

But, we must train ourselves to continuously self talk ourselves in order to remain focus, positive and progressive, despite what the outside world looks like.

The Big Joke

Woman Lacing Up Her Gray and Pink Nike Low-top Athletic Shoe

All right self-help and self-improvement lovers, here is the joke and punch line in one sentence: We are the cause of our own problems and our own solutions. Now, I am going to take the rest of this article to explain the joke, punch line and position.

Our effects all come from a cause, right? Yes. That cause is within us however we may try to look at it. When we look at effects as stand alone causes without causes, nothing can be solved. When we look at effects, from the standpoint of "we caused them ourselves", something can always genuinely be done to improve the situation.

Today, and every day, I realize that my attitude genuinely makes my reality work or not work. What I mean by this is: Whatever happens with me or to me, my attitude is the currency that gets me through it or holds me back. Sure, we can all "make money" if we really want to through normal efforts. But the 'amazing effort' comes with changing our thoughts and causes genuinely for the better even when all evidence says otherwise. Think about it, anyone can get angry and retaliate, but it takes a strong soul to genuinely think it out and do what is genuinely right at the right time instead of blaming effects. Indeed, the cause is where it is at.

Sometimes, I just want to let out a scream when something goes really wrong or at least complain a bit. Mostly, I just look at the cause and say to myself after the musings or whatever: "This is a slip, not a fall, start over with a little more experience." Now, I am not perfect or ideal by any means, but for the most part, I would rather approach things with this attitude rather than blame effects.

Sometimes, in the spirit of complaint, I talk "angrily" to my Mother about the effects around me "just for the fun of it" without meaning a word of it (and she knows it, and "she in a sounding board way lets me blow off the steam"), but inside I realize the causes and concentrate on them and let the emotions go through me without meaning any genuine thing or affecting me. In reality, I concentrate on the cause and let the "chips of effect" fall where they may. If the effect is bad, I start over, if the effect is good, I continue on with my path. My point is, failure and bad effects are a bad joke, only good effects and realities count. If you are reading this with honest, sincere seriousness, you are ready. If you file it under "The musings of a silly man about real life", you are not ready. Either way, you chose a path. Either way, you get it. One path is longer, and one path is shorter. One path is harder and less successful, one path is easier and more successful. Either way:

"When everything seems to be going against you, remember that the airplane takes off against the wind, not with it."
"If you think you cannot do a thing, or if you think you can, you are right."
Both of the quotes here are generally attributed to automobile industrialist Henry Ford.

Principles of Performance

Woman in Yellow Long sleeve Standing Under the Sunlight

I have written several articles that cover the principles of self-development. I am a true believer that self-development is the key to success. Much of success is about taking action. In many cases, principles of performance have a lot to do with what you do and what you are able to encourage others to do. There are many principles that I use on a constant basis and will continue to use them until they are no longer effective. The number one principle that should be addressed if you are wanting to be successful would be to focus, focus, focus. Most people lose their focus and that is why they are not able to complete anything they pursue.

I am a true believer that for anyone to be successful they need to have the right attitude. A negative attitude has never gotten anyone anywhere but rejected and left out. Expect positive things to happen in your life when your attitude is positive. What you put out is what you get back in most cases. It's like looking in a mirror. Your attitude determines your altitude.

Now, the attitude I am writing about is not falsely manufactured to impress or manipulate others. The attitude that I am addressing would be a true positive attitude that resides deep down inside your soul. The positive attitude I am talking about would be the attitude that oozes from your pores when you wake-up in the morning and stays with you all day long. You know the attitude I am talking about; the attitude that is part of who you are at your core.

If you have a bad attitude, this would be a reflection of who you are inside your soul. If you want to change your attitude, you would first have to change what resides deep down in your soul. If your soul is battered, tattered, and torn, you may want to ask the Lord for His assistance. He can heal a broken soul only if you allow Him to. You will want to ask for an Attitude that can support love, kindness, joy, goodness, and corrective discipline. When you are truly thankful and grateful you will find that a positive attitude will flow from you. And I promise you that it will be noticed by everyone you encounter.

Here is a pet-peeve that drives me nuts. People that make promises and don't keep them. Far too many people make promises they can't keep. They may have good intentions when making a promise, but they don't realize by making a promise that they don't keep taints who they are. No matter what happens in your life your words will stand the test of time. People can take all physical possessions from you, but they can't take your knowledge or your word from you. If your word means nothing, you are nothing. No one will take you seriously. If you do make a promise, you will want to make a plan to fulfill it. If you make a future commitment, you must grasp how important it is to follow through with your promise. You should be willing to do whatever it takes to complete your obligation. The reason why so many relationships fail would be due to all parties involved not understanding what it takes to have a wonderful relationship. They do not plan for or understand the sacrifices each must make for the relationship to flourish and work.

Let me bring up something positive to share with you. In general, we usually get from others and ourselves what we expect. The law of expectancy is very powerful. If you don't know what you want, 99.9% of the time you will never obtain it. You must take aim at what you want if you expect to hit your target. Blind men and women don't make good knife throwers. I'm sure you would agree. A very successful friend of mine shared this with me; "you will either live up to your expectations or fall short of them. If you expect nothing, you usually end up with nothing. You should know that something from nothing leaves nothing. If you expect to be mediocre then don't expect anything more than average. If you expect to feel bad, you will feel bad. It is a fact that you are what you think about all the time. So, with that being said, if you expect to feel wonderful there will be nothing standing in your way of feeling that way. And always know that if it is possible for you to feel that way, it is also possible for others to feel that way.

The difference between mediocre employees and exceptional employees would be the training they receive. The only thing worse than training employees and losing them is to not train them and keep them. That sounds like an axiom I heard many years ago; "what is worse than a person that can't read, that would be a person that can read and won't." When you think of training as practice and preparation, it makes you wonder how people survive that do not practice and prepare. It is a must that people invest in themselves. In essence, people that do not prepare and invest in their ability don't make the grade. If you want to improve and move from good to excellent, you will want to adopt a rigorous training program and stick to it.

Finally, you will want to seek out what you want in life. If you look for the good things in life, you will find them. If you look for opportunities to prosper and grow from, you will find them. If you look for positive and insightful people that will support you and push you to be your best, you will find them. Then again, if you look for ways to swindle and cheat, you will end up doing just that. If you look for ways to justify leaving your spouse, you will find them. If you look for reasons to hate another, you will find them. It is natural for us to justify what we need or want. If you are not living by lawful standards of integrity, honesty, loyalty, love, and faith, you will be drawn to selfish indulgence, and that leads to misery and unfulfilled dreams. Whatever you have will never be enough. Always look for the good and for ways to help others and you will see that positive things will come from such acts.

Attitude and Peak Performance - Part 1

Kick out

Many people wrongly assume that if they have the skills required to do the job, their attitude makes little or no difference. I look at someone with great ability and a bad attitude the same way I look at a Ferrari without any gas; it may look great and be full of potential, but without gas, it is not going anywhere. Attitude is what fuels peak performance in all fields.

The skills you possess, whether it is athletic ability, a medical degree, or a Ph.D., are just your ticket into the arena. What keeps you in the arena and determines how successful you will ultimately become in that arena is your productivity, and that is determined by your attitude.

The NFL Draft starts today and although the NFL has gotten much better at evaluating more than just the physical side of players, there is still a lot of room for improvement. I say this because when I ask a coach or other team representative about a player, the first thing out of their mouth is still always about their physical ability. For example, if it is a quarterback they will say something like "he can make all the throws." My first thought is, that tells me nothing about his likelihood of success and is near the minimum of my expectations. I want a guy who won't be satisfied with anything less than a championship.

In the 1980's Delta airlines had one of the worst slogans ever in my humble opinion: "Delta gets you there." That expressed an attitude of "We just do the minimum." Would Delta be in business if they didn't get you there? That's like Nike having the slogan 'We have shoes you can wear.' Instead Nike went with "Just Do It" and that attitude of accomplishing things inspired the company to greater heights.

There's a saying most football coaches know that illustrates the importance of attitude: "He looks like Tarzan, but plays like Jane." Many athletes look imposing getting off the bus, but have poor attitudes that keep them from fulfilling their potential. The same is true of people who look good on paper. I always say 'Credentials do not produce things, people and their actions do.'

I want to work with people who have their greatest accomplishments in their future, not their past. I don't want people who can show me what they have done, I want people who can't wait to show me (and the world) what they can do.

Who do you think will be more successful, the person who when approached with an idea immediately lists all the reasons it won't work, or the person who starts suggesting ways to make it happen? Nearly everything that makes our lives easier are things that at first glance people said would never be possible.

A bad attitude can poison the entire well, so don't fall for impressive credentials or striking physical stature alone. Take the person with desire over credentials or physical stature every-time. If you work at it you may even find the rarest of individuals, those who have desire along with credentials and physical prowess as well.
