Change The World - Create A Confidence Legacy Today

Confident business man 3

What is a confidence legacy?

The Oxford Dictionaries define "legacy" as:- "Something left or handed down by a predecessor."

For this definition, you are the "predecessor" i.e. after you have died.

So it reads - a legacy is "something you will leave or hand down to others after you have died."

So a confidence legacy is - is something you will leave or hand down to others with regard to confidence after you have died.

So, will you leave the world more confident than it was when you were born? And if it is to be more confident, in what ways will it be more confident, and what confident resources will you be leaving the world (i.e. books, videos, memories of how you lived and what you did etc.)?

It's not cheery to talk about dying, but it will happen, and it's best to plan your life with that in mind. To help you do this, I've two quick exercises for you to do.

The first exercise will help you work out how you want people to remember you after you have died?

All you need to do is:

Step 1 - List the categories of people in your life e.g. partner, family, friends, neighbours, work colleagues etc.

Step 2 - Write a short speech for each of the categories - and the speech is what you'd like them to say about you at your own funeral.

Once you have done this you'll have clarified how you'd like people to remember you after you have gone. This gets you to the core of what you really want out of life, and what is important to you. Once you know this you can start planning your life so you know what you need to do from today onwards, in order to make those speeches really happen.

The second exercise, really narrows down on what is important to you and what sort of general legacy you'd like to leave.

All you need to do is just imagine yourself on your deathbed, about to die. What sort of things will you be thinking about? What will you be remembering? What regrets will you have? What would you like to have achieved in your life? What would you like to own, and where would you like to have travelled to? How many people are your friends? Who will love you? How will your family be? What sort of legacy will you be leaving the world?

An additional question to ask yourself at the end of this exercise is - "What sort of confidence legacy will you be leaving the world?"

Write your answers out so you don't forget them.

Now that you know how you'd like to leave the world when you die, and what sort of confidence legacy you'd like to leave, you can now ask how can you leave this legacy? What do you need to do to make it happen.

In order to work this out, all you need to do is just brainstorm in what ways you can leave a legacy of confidence.

Examples could be:-

1 - The example of you having lived a confident life. This is you leading by example.

2 - A book about confidence

3 - Online videos about confidence

4 - A confident family. They are confident because you've raised them to be confident.

5 - Your neighbourhood full of confident people.

6 - All your friends and acquaintances, and work colleagues (both past and present) being confident.

These become your confidence legacy goals, and knowing your goals means you can start to create your plan as to how you are going to achieve your goals.

You'll need to come back to your goals and plan regularly (I'd say daily) in order to (I) develop it so that it lasts you a life time, (ii) to pull out actions that you need to do today, and (iii) complete some actions today towards your confidence legacy goals.

If you decide to leave a confidence legacy once you die, you will receive a lot of benefits.

The benefits you'll receive include, you'll:

1 - Be more confident now,

2 - Maintain your higher level of confidence for longer,

3 - Enjoy your life more, and

4 - Achieve more

You will also get a tremendous sense that you are contributing to the future of the world. This will give you a dramatic boost of confidence.

Having such a longterm goal means that when confidence shaking things happen to you, you'll be more confident as they'll be put into perspective and will appear smaller to you.

We should all plan to leave a confidence legacy. Can you imagine what our world would be like if we did? If everyone made it one of their life goals to leave everyone in the world, and future generations more confident, what a positive future that would be.

So just before you finish, decide that you'll leave a confidence legacy, and leave the world a better place. Give people something positive to remember you by. Do the two exercises, and enjoy feeling your confidence increase as a result.

Enjoy Your Life Unconditionally (By Hifzur Rehman)

Image result for enjoy your life

No doubt, there are ups and downs in life. There are good and bad times. There is sunshine and there is rain. Some days are hot and some days are cold. This is life!

Whatever the circumstances, you should not deprive yourself of the joy of life. Life is for a limited period only. No one knows how long he/she will live. Why waste your precious time in worrying about the things that are beyond your control. Be happy, enjoy your life unconditionally. Bring happiness in your own life and in the lives of other people.

Enjoy every situation of your life. You enjoy good days but you also need to learn how to enjoy bad days. You enjoy success but you also need to enjoy failure.

Enjoy your failure

Failure is good because it provides you an opportunity to benefit from so many other options which you were overlooking. Failure encourages you to bounce back and get even bigger and better share of success than you were expecting. There is no need to lose heart. Change your thinking so that you change the whole scenario. Celebrate failure! It will boost your morale and make you more powerful and determined to achieve success at any cost.

Enjoy your pain

If I ask you to enjoy pain then you will question my mental fitness. But you don't know how true it is. I tell you my personal experience about that.

In 2003 when I was in Geneva, Switzerland, I suffered a massive heart attack. My colleagues called ambulance and I was taken to hospital with severe pain in my chest. Before reaching hospital, I was totally exhausted with pain and was going to lose control on my emotions when the doctor in the ambulance said: "Don't worry, you are in the safe hands". His words took away all my pain because then I started realizing that it's not the time to worry about pain but to thank God that my life was safe. The mixed feelings of pain and joy surrounded me. It was a unique experience. At that time I learnt an important lesson that in pain there is a hidden joy and who sees the bright side can even enjoy pain. My pain turned into a joy which immensely helped in my recovery sooner than expected.

Enjoy your mistakes

We all make mistakes in life but only brave people admit their mistakes. Most people put the blame of their mistakes on others. On the other hand, the courageous people not only laugh at their mistakes but also let other people laugh at them. A person who learns from mistakes and knows how to turn the bad situation in his/her favour is the most intelligent person and has every right to enjoy.

Full of "Brules": Our Lovely Brain-Washing Society

What are "Brules"?

Brules = BS rules

Today, there are many different kind of "brules" that the society has used to brain-wash us. Some common "brules" include:

  • University Degree is necessary
  • After you get a degree, you must go out and find a well-paying job or else you are screwed
  • Time is money (What?! This is also a brule? I will get to this very soon. Continue reading.)
  • The pursuit of money is inherently bad

This list is inexhaustible.

Let's reflect. Were you told by your parents and teachers to study hard and get an University degree? After that, were you pushed by them and the society to find a job, the higher the salary the better? Are you currently stuck in a job that you don't necessarily like at all? Are you pressured by all the bills coming in every month?

All of this happened because the society has asked us to follow this path repeatedly, generation after generation. Are you sure University degrees are necessary? If it is, how did Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Walt Disney, Bill Gates, Richard Branson... and so many famous college drop-outs come about? I must admit that these people are talented in one way or another. But, what about you? We all are talented in certain areas. The only difference between successful and unsuccessful people is their level of perseverance and resilience.

Achievement seems to be connected with action. Successful men and women keep moving. They make mistakes, but they don't quit. - Conrad Hilton
So don't be afraid to follow your own intuition and go and pursue your interest. University education is like a tool for you to do something. For example, if you want to start a business, University education can equip you with necessary skills and knowledge for you to get into this area. Please don't study University because the society says you must have a University degree in order to get a job in order to have a living in order to...

Let's move on to the next "brule". We all were taught since young that time is money so please don't waste time. Let me tell you, this is bullshit. Time is money because people are always spending their precious time working for money. Just like part-time jobs or any other normal jobs where you earn money based on the time you spend working. In this way, the more time you spend on your work, the more you earn. This is the "employee mindset". If you detach time from money, you are able to live a life which you don't need to rush for time, work for time and work for others. This happens when you are able to escape the rat race and generate passive income streams. Your money will be flowing in automatically and you can enjoy your life without the need to compete with time. This is totally possible today for anyone to achieve as you can make it as long as you have a laptop and an internet connection. There are many ways to bring in wealth without sacrificing time. What I would recommend is the Laptop Lifestyle. You can earn money while you are asleep or enjoying your life. So make sure you detach time from money in your dictionary! This is really important. Don't be fooled around by the society anymore.

In today's society, we have brought shame on the pursuit of money. Many people regard the pursuit of money as a bad attitude. This probably occurs because there are people making money at the expense of product quality or at the expense of other parties involved. But honestly, who don't want to earn money and get rich? There is nothing wrong in pursuing money at all as long as you earn money in a decent and legal way. What's wrong with earning money? The most important thing is that you do not sacrifice your product quality and customer welfare. With quality products and services, you will be able to earn much more money in the long run.

So, don't be limit by the "brules" and don't let the society brain-wash us anymore. There are many more mindsets that the society has embedded in us. Have an open mind and follow your intuition. Try to discover the rules that are confining you in life and make improvements to them that can lead you to a better life.

Let me end off with a quote from Steve Jobs,

Your time is limited, so don't waste it living someone else's life. Don't let the noise of others' opinions drown out your inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
All my best to your success!

Change the Metaphors You Use and Change Your Life

Do we really use the gift of language as well as it could be used? I have been reading about our use of metaphors and how we adopt them and use them without thinking about their effect. How often have you thought "life is a battle when struggling with something, or perhaps somebody as "a pain in the neck". Try next time to find a more uplifting metaphor: how about "an opportunity".

Try changing your choice of metaphors in all areas of your life; how you think of, or speak of your children, your work colleagues, your other half or your partner etc. and see the effect it has on both your outlook and your response from others.

Sometimes it is as if we are half asleep, we say things without thinking of the consequences or the effect the words make. Words are a means of communicating make sure they are actually creating the intended message, not perhaps just your anger or frustration.

I read a story about a little boy whose friend had fallen from some apparatus and died. He was naturally distraught until his father suggested he was like a caterpillar in a cocoon, that would soon be a butterfly and soar into the sky.

Change your thinking and change your life. Make your life story as exciting as you like. Learn a language, take up painting, or writing; or start a business in your spare-time and earn some extra cash, I'm sure you will enjoy spending it! You are capable of so much more, make every hour count. Change your metaphors, learn to enjoy what you do, and enjoy your life. Life is an adventure where will your life take you?

I am building an online business, attempting to learn Spanish, getting fitter and hopefully losing a few pounds. What will your challenges be?

If you too would like an online business the easiest way to start is affiliate marketing with a coach, this makes it much simpler, products are provided in a range to excite your customers into making repeat orders; professionally written sales pages and marketing advice so that you can start to earn whilst you are still learning. Affiliate marketing is great fun and in the future your business can be grown to the size that suits you.

Change the metaphors you use daily and create a new adventure for yourself and your family.

The book I am reading is "Awaken the giant Within", by Anthony Robbins. If you want to learn more about metaphors, life planning, and achieving what you really want, you might like to read it too!

7 Personal Finance Lessons From Bruce Lee

"Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless."

Martial arts have always been a very important part of my life. Growing up, I wanted to be the Karate Kid. I bugged my mom to sign me up for lessons until she finally did. But it ended up being a bad idea because I ran around school kicking the other kids. Needless to say, my karate career didn’t go far.Later in life I dedicated myself to Brazilian jiujitsu. I traveled the country competing, earned a black belt, and eventually became a teacher at one of the most iconic martial arts academies.

Today, as a financial planner and a martial artist, I frequently see parallels between the two disciplines when I work with my clients.

The legendary martial artist and actor Bruce Lee died more than 40 years ago, but his words continue to mold martial arts students today and apply to our financial lives, too. In honor of what would have been his 75th birthday this year, here are seven personal finance lessons based on his wise words:

1. “To hell with circumstances; I create opportunities.”

No matter where you are starting from today, you have an opportunity to improve your financial well-being.

2. “A goal is not always meant to be reached; it often serves simply as something to aim at.”

When setting financial goals, set ones that seem out of reach or even ridiculous. Then work backward from there to create monthly, weekly and even daily goals. For instance, if you want to make $1 million, first try conquering a shorter-term financial goal, such as saving $25,000.

3. “Always be yourself, express yourself, have faith in yourself; do not go out and look for a successful personality and duplicate it.”

Trying to become a carbon copy of the affluent can lead to financial trouble.

Living in Orange County, California, and being in the wealth management business, I know firsthand the problems that come with living beyond your means, whether you are rich or not. We have doctors and lawyers living in the hills next to Kobe Bryant, but they aren’t making Kobe Bryant money. Even the wealthy struggle financially if they don’t get spending under control.

So don’t live beyond your means to become someone you are not. Do things that others won’t do: Try to stay frugal even when you have savings. Before you know it, the tortoise catches up to the hare.

4. “The key to immortality is first living a life worth remembering.”

Enjoy your life. Sometimes, you must put your nose to the grindstone and hustle, but you must also know when you can afford to enjoy your life. After all, you can’t take everything to the grave with you.

5. “I fear not the man who has practiced 10,000 kicks once, but I fear the man who has practiced one kick 10,000 times.”

Financial independence and success isn’t about million-dollar ideas, it’s about million-dollar execution. For instance, it may be in your best interest to develop multiple streams of income, but first focus on and master one flow at a time. Then you can move on to the next “kick.” With saving and managing your finances, you don’t want to try to be a jack-of-all-trades and end up being a master of none.

6. “Adapt what is useful, reject what is useless, and add what is specifically your own.”

All too often I see people falling into the trap of one-size-fits-all strategies or falling for get-rich-quick investments that sound too good to be true. What it takes for you to be successful financially is specific to you, and your plan must be customized to your needs and goals. Having an intelligent investment strategy that facilitates your long-term goals with a level of risk that you are comfortable with is the key to reaching financial independence.

7. “If you spend too much time thinking about a thing, you’ll never get it done.”

To get to the next level financially, you can’t sit around twiddling your thumbs. You have to put in the work. Bruce Lee achieved his success with an unparalleled work ethic. He trained more than any martial artist I’ve ever heard of.

In the world of personal finance, procrastination is the single greatest contributor to financial shortcomings. Just like the legend says, don’t spend your time thinking about getting wealthy — go out and put in the work to make your dreams a reality.

If you want to become the champion of your finances, you have to put in the training. So go out and make it happen – start mastering your money today.
