Work Got You Stressed? Let Go Using These Timely Tips

Stress is part of everyone's life and work. Whether you work for someone else, run your own small business, or are a solopreneur, the better you manage your work stress, the happier and more productive you'll be in all facets of your life. So, while stress may be here to stay, it doesn't have to be in the driver's seat!

Work Stress and How to Relieve It

First, it's important to identify the source of your stress. Work stress usually falls into any one of four categories:

  • Work overload and overwhelm,
  • Difficult co-workers,
  • Overly demanding or unreasonable bosses, and
  • Anxiety stemming from uncertain economic times

The list may seem overwhelming in and of itself, but the good news is that there really are things that you can do to relieve these stressors. And many of them are things that you can put into action right away for yourself.

Let's start by looking at work overload.

If you're feeling overwhelmed start by scanning your schedule. Can you change your routine or rearrange something to find more time to get the job done? Are there tasks you can eliminate temporarily? Or could someone else pick them up for you? Being proactive and making even small changes eases things considerably.

If you continue to feel swamped and have a boss, speak to him or her. Communication is key, both for working things out and as another stress reliever. Simply sharing your feeling may open you to new possibilities.

What about the stress of co-workers who don't see eye-to-eye?

There are difficult people in all walks of life, and this is something you're likely to face no matter where you work. But, you don't have to let it stress you out.

One excellent stress management technique is to confront the issue directly. If the problem continues and you can't ignore it, another possible solution would be to ask to be moved to a different department or area. Another option to consider is to not respond or engage around the behavior that is bothersome, but try to connect in some other way. Either the person will respond by leaving you alone or, maybe better yet, he or she may befriend you. Either way, you are reducing your stress. This is the most helpful and growthful solution.

How about the overly demanding boss?

First of all, remember, your boss is your boss. It is usually unwise to approach this person in a confrontational manner. However, that doesn't mean you can't try talking.

To do this successfully, you'll want to schedule a meeting ahead of time. Then, before it happens, spend some time writing out your thoughts. This in itself relieves your stress because you feel clear and prepared. It will also help you state your case and stay on topic. Don't come across as blaming or condescending. Remember that your power lies in how you respond; but your boss does have power over your employment. So, if speaking your mind doesn't have the impact you'd hoped for, you'll need to let it go. Work to find the positive learning embedded in this experience. Let yourself be guided by your steadiness and discipline.

Anxiety about the future fuels stress.

Probably the biggest cause of stress in the workplace these days is fear and uncertainty about these tough economic times. There are no guarantees in this economy. That's hard to live with, so, how do you relieve some of the stress and fear?

Well, one thing is to be proactive and start preparing for the future. This might mean learning a new skill or trade. Maybe it could involve starting an on-line business or exploring saleable talents you might have. A little research and planning can relieve stress about the future, as well as opening up doors you might not have imagined!

And one bonus tip about stress...

No matter what is causing your stress, working out regularly is an excellent way to release energy and relieve overwhelm, frustration, and anxiety. You don't have to belong to a gym. You can find ways to work out anywhere - and the benefits are palpable. It's well worth the investment of time that it takes!

Dabble! You Have To Start Somewhere (By Sarah Schwab)

Close-up of Beer Bottles on Wood

"If you hear a voice within you say 'you cannot paint,' then by all means paint and that voice will be silenced." - Vincent Van Gogh

Content can take many forms. Of course it can be written, but now it can also be on video, podcasts, teleclasses, webinars, blabs, periscopes, the list goes on and on.

New platforms and new ways of creating content can be intimidating.

Saying "I can't... " is a surefire way to guarantee that you won't create something, that you won't grow, that you won't make a difference.

Even Van Gogh wasn't born being a professional painter. He had to start somewhere.

Dabble!

As adults, we often stop ourselves from trying new things because we think we won't be good at them immediately. We have high expectations right from the beginning. And that often means we never give ourselves the chance to try and to learn and to improve.

To dabble in something has a different feeling.

When we dabble, we lower our expectations. We give ourselves some space to just give it a shot.

Painting Bars

There is a great bar in Milwaukee that serves up canvases with their drinks. (They do sessions led by artists, and other cool things too).

One night, I was there with my husband during "Gallery Night." It was a public event in the area, so lots of people were out and about checking out places in the neighborhood. A couple of guys walked into this bar and ordered a beer.

One of them looked skeptically at the people who were painting, including me, and asked what was going on.

The bar tender explained how it worked and offered him a canvas and some paint. But he declined with a half smile that looked simultaneously embarrassed and "too cool."

But he kept watching other people painting. His friend encouraged him to give it a try. And finally he said, "Okay, why not?"

It was such a treat to watch him (and eventually my husband too!) dabble in the world of painting, something they had zero experience with.

And the result?

It turned out to be a lot more fun than they thought, and the end product was far better than they ever expected.

That's the magic!

Now, those men may never paint another picture again. But they can no longer say that they "can't" do it.

New Possibilities

This painting bar has grown a successful day-time business of hosting corporate groups for team-building and leadership events. It's hugely popular because when people are made to dabble in something outside their norm, new possibilities open up.

They become more vulnerable. They support each other differently. They take risks in ways they otherwise might not.

Many years ago, I thought that when I started my own business, it would be one of those "Paint Your Own Pottery" shops because I love encouraging and witnessing people dabble in new forms of creativity.

Now I do that in a different way, working with entrepreneurs on creating content. The similarities are striking.

Rather than stepping up to a blank canvas, you are stepping up to a blank computer screen or a video camera or a smart phone. In any of these cases you must be willing to put something on it and see what happens.

When you start by dabbling, you open the way toward improvement, new creations, and growth.

What is the thing you've been wanting to try for a while but haven't done it? How can you dabble in it? Get started!

Progress Is Impossible Without Change

One thing is sure in life; that progress is impossible without change. But no matter what you do, nothing remains the same forever. To move beyond where you are, it requires getting out of your comfort zone. And growth is what is called the motion you make in a chosen or required direction.
Would you allow your mind and your beliefs to change and grow as new facts are revealed? Or would you resist transformation and maintain a closed mindset? How can you cultivate a more open outlook and receive change in your world? And just how can you apply it in your life?

In my life, I often heard that the reason many of us resist change is that we are afraid of losing something. The reasons are plenty. It may be the fear of losing the familiar, fear of losing control, or merely the distress of losing someone and find ourselves alone.

On the other hand, when moving beyond where you are, you might see new possibilities or things you have to gain. You have to realize that change is a constant. Rather than running away from it, you should entirely and intentionally embrace it because you might live a more satisfying and full life.

But it requires you to be willing to change your mind and belief system. We are only human, and we do make mistakes. When you are unwilling to change your mindset, you stagnate. Remember that your brain is a muscle and it also has to be exercised.

Being Stubborn Blocks Change

"Progress is impossible without change, and those who cannot change their minds cannot change anything." - George Bernard Shaw
You have to examine the facts. The reason is that you have no choice than changing your opinions when evidence or proofs no longer support your thoughts or belief system. Stay away from being obstinate in your ways. It will swallow you up or anything else that does not evolve, grow, change, progress and transform. So accept that things do change!

All of us are guilty of being stubborn or have a fixed mind at times. And yes, it takes a lot of courage, strength and self-discipline to admit that you are wrong or allow progress to happen. But what is life without a change of heart or a change of mind?

Considering Possibilities is Key to Change
Centuries ago, people believed in a flat Earth, and that the horizon was the end of the world, but with time and evidence, they eventually changed their minds. The old ideas and beliefs finally died out. Today, everyone recognizes the roundness of our planet and the Sun which is at the center of our Solar System, as well as the galaxy we live in, the 'Milky Way.'

From the dawn of time, we have believed all sorts of things. But change along with progress and scientists have worked in transforming many of our misconceptions. So, we may have to consider that changes and getting out of our comfort zone are needed to grow and have a better life.

For ages, many thought that flying could happen while others believed it was impossible or insane. Eventually, in 1903, civilization went from successfully flying the first operated airplane to walking on the moon in 1969. All of it happening in the short span of sixty-six years.

Progress is Impossible without Change
So, you see that nothing is impossible as long as your dreams still glide in your head. A creative spirit is vital for you to change, grow and progress. Never stop dreaming since the opportunities are endless. But if you refuse to change your mindset, your beliefs, or your routine, you will never be able to move forward beyond your false impressions.

"Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself." - George Bernard Shaw
Change is the natural order of the Universe. Many of us are unmotivated and lost. Many young people have no idea what to do when arriving at the end of their teenage years and getting into adulthood. Stop strolling through life trying to be someone else. Be unique. Find and live your true identity. Take action to change and grow rather than letting the world tell you who you are.

Grasp Change with Both Hands
Again, you have to grasp change. Do not let doubt, fear or failure command the course you want to travel on the roadmap of your life. Take some risks instead of playing it safe. And you may be surprised by what you might acquire once leaving your comfort zone. You might experience all that life has to offer you.

Can you imagine how hard it would be to make a change, grow and progress in your life if you refuse to let go of misconceptions? It is like when someone believes they are overweight and no one can love them. How could they accept somebody that express care for them?

If something is not working, you have to change your mindset. Many of us know things which are not true. Yet we defend them because we accept them as real. It is easy to be influenced by the doubts or unbelief of a relative or friend. They can even push you to think that your ideas are impossible.

But have you ever considered the possibility that they might be wrong?

Change and Growth - A Mark of Success
You need to be in the driver's seat when you seek change, growth, progress or anything else in life. Otherwise, you are going to accept an average belief system and never move beyond what could be.

You have to stand up for yourself, but also willing to change and get out of your area of comfort; otherwise, you are not going to accomplish anything you desire.

Change and growth are a mark of success. It does not consist in never making mistakes but in never making the same one next time. Accept failure as a part of success also. When you fail, you learn from your mistakes, and you can then identify what you did and not repeat them.

Basically, you should not fear to make a change to grow and develop but rather be afraid of stagnating and not learning anything new.

Accept Change
You must realize that things change and never remain as it is. What you may not be willing to accept or consider is that you have to change as well. But you should! Try to recognize which changes will lead you to progress or growth. Become aware of the facts so that you can change for the better.

Let go of the shame and embrace the change you have to make because progress is impossible without it. Changes will be what create the person you want to be. So, you can contribute to the world rather than expecting the world to provide for you. I wish you a great transformation!

How Pyramid Energy Speeds Up Your Personal Growth (By Mercedes Oestermann Van Essen)

Image result for pyramid

Pyramid Energy is incredibly powerful. If you know how to use it you will find that it increases your personal growth and development and is capable of opening doors to infinite new possibilities.

Pyramid energy is a vital part of Holistic Feng Shui which I teach mainly to professionals helping them to improve their work lives.

Not any old pyramid works

Before we go deeper I want to issue a caveat: Don't rush out to your nearest alternative shop to purchase a pyramid for a few dollars. It won't work.

The small pyramids we use to create better energy in offices or homes are specially made from precious materials which are put together to a special proven formula.

Just like the mysterious big pyramids of Egypt and many other places, a pyramid that fulfils its function needs to conform to certain universal principles. These principles have to be strictly adhered to, or you get no benefit from pyramids.

With that in mind let me tell you what happens when you bring a pyramid into your home

Pyramids transform chaotic energy which is generated by our thoughts, feelings and emotions into harmonious energy patterns. You can feel the harmony that is emitted within the field of the pyramid. If you have spent time alone on top of any of the large pyramids of the world you will know that it is a mind altering experience.

All pyramids have three main areas from where their power is released. The places are the tip of the pyramid, in the upper third of the pyramid and at the bottom. The bottom of a pyramid emits energy into the ground.

When you spend time in the vicinity of a pyramid chaos disappears and harmony sets in

Obstacles begin to be smoothed away. They are smoothed away by making you see your life with more clarity. You suddenly begin to notice how you do your thinking. Unconscious behaviours and subconscious thoughts will come to the surface.

As you know we can only change something that we are aware of

When you have pyramids in your office or home everything accelerates. You have to be careful that you don't overdo it. Quantity does not improve results, correct placement is vital to get good results. While the energy smoothes your path it also will show up everything that needs to change and that can be a little overwhelming. If you have too many pyramids, or use them incorrectly their power can overwhelm you.

Handled correctly the right kind and number of pyramids are fantastic personal growth tools and environmental harmonizing tools. I wouldn't be without my pyramids under any circumstances.

Don't Limit Yourself: Work Your Mind

Often times people get into a rut and begin to put themselves in a box.

Becoming comfortable with the way their life is, but not being happy with their lives in general.

Not knowing how to change their lives, not knowing how to grow, and not knowing how to expand as a human being.

Believing that the world they've created around them is the world that they live.

Technically it is, but it doesn't have to be.

Don't limit yourself.

Earlier today I was having a discussion with a friend and I mentioned to them about a new book I purchased.

Their reply to me was,"You read books?"

Yes I read books!

The comment really hit me hard because I got away from reading daily like I used to.

Not to undermined anyone that doesn't read, but like most things when you make it a habit it's tough to do without.

Get yourself into the habit or doing things differently if you are dissatisfied with you life.

Your mind is like a garden and what you put into your mind will grow and your thoughts will shape who you are and who you become.

For myself, reading helps me to shape my thoughts in a way that provides new possibilities in my life.

Honestly, it brightens my day.

Reading for 15-30 min a day can make a massive change in your life.

Reading things that motivate, inspire, challenge, and get you moving in a new direction.

Don't limit yourself on the things that you can learn.

Don't limit yourself on the people you associate yourself with.

And more importantly don't limit yourself on the things that you can do.

Become who you want to be by reading books and surrounding yourself around those who can be an asset to your life.

To be in a frame of mind that reading can't change your life and reshape your thoughts is putting yourself into a box and is an excuse for you to put limits on yourself.

Being today to see life in a bigger picture and imagine more out of life if you are someone that is feeling stuck.

Reading, working your mind, and taking action can be a valuable resource in getting yourself unstuck.

You have the power to regain control, but it's going to take some work.

It's about creating new habits and reshaping your mind.

That's what separates the winners from the losers.

Don't limit yourself!

Best Wishes!
