How Beliefs Work

Safety - Denali National Park & Preserve (U.S. National Park Service)

Have you ever bought a car and then all of a sudden you see the same model everywhere on the road? When I first considered setting up my own clinic many years ago, I discovered that all of a sudden there were clinics everywhere I went. There have been there all along but I did not see them until I started to focus my mind on setting up my own clinic. The outer reality has not really changed but what has changed is my inner thoughts and focuses.

Beliefs work the same way.

Once we have decided to take on a belief, most of the time unconsciously, our brain seems to re-configure itself, re-arranging the neural pathways, and we ended up turning our focus on things and events that further validate the belief. We literally attract these things into our lives.

That is why Dr. Wayne Dyer said, "Believe it and you will see it" instead of the usual "I'll believe it when I see it". He wrote an entire book on this concept.

So when you hold on to a belief of lack or a belief that the universe is hostile, then you will "see" the evidence in your life validating those beliefs. Believe you are not worthy and it is reflected in your low self esteem and other self esteem issues, in the way you avoid relationships or commitments, or in experiencing people in your life who continue to take you for granted or look down on you.

Believe in a benevolent universe and a universe of abundance, and you will begin to see evidence of abundance and generosity, kindness and compassion.

The good news is that you get to choose what you want to believe in.

The bad news is that you can choose your beliefs only if you are highly mindful and aware of your thoughts. This is because beliefs are most often taken in unconsciously and as long as you continue to live your life unconsciously you will continue to take in beliefs without being able to filter them.

Fortunately, there are many ways and tools to remove unwanted life-limiting beliefs and consciously accept life-enhancing beliefs.

Being aware that there is such a possibility is already a step forward. To be able to learn the methods and to apply them in your own life would be truly transformational, and there are many powerful methods to choose from. Look for them and you will find them.

The Habit of a Journalist

Woman in White Long Sleeved Shirt Holding a Pen Writing on a Paper

Out of all the activities, journaling according to me is the healthiest activity. You feel relieved after spilling out every single thought going through your head. It is a fun activity as well because you play with your own words and ways of expression. Everyone should make journaling a habit.

Most of us feel like giving up writing after a week or two. Have you ever wondered why does this happen? This is because we don't make it a routine habit. We actually think of it as a hectic task but not as a pleasurable and joyful activity.

At the very beginning we get stuck at finding the right topic to write on. One easiest way of getting rid of this problem is to right about what you've done for the whole day. Write down about your daily routine, your work, your love life, things you like and things you dislike. Writing about your own self is one of the simplest topic you can ever find.

Secondly, reading can also help. Searching for random stuff on internet including journals written by different people can give you various ideas about what to write and how to write it. Reading helps you learn better ways to express your thoughts and ideas. This is how you learn how to express your inner thoughts and feelings through relevant and affective words.

Try to find out inspirations. Your inspirations and aspirations are basically the sources of motivation. Bookmark the journals, articles, quotes or texts you like. Keep a record for present and future reference.

Environment and your state of mind are also quite important. The time when you wake up in the morning is considered as the period when you can effectively utilize all your senses to produce excellent work. Moreover, it is important to be in a relaxing environment where you feel good. It affects your mind more than you can imagine and it enhances the productivity rate as well. For instance, while sitting under a huge tree with a cup of tea, you can think about so many things and can transform all those thoughts and ideas into some amazing words. All you need is a good diary with a fine pen like that of Parker or Pelikan.

In the end, all I want to say is if you want to write, just start doing it. You will feel a lot better and productive. Mark my words.

Turning Fears Into Action Items

We all have fears and issues around certain struggles that life has to offer us from time to time: some of us are fearful about death, finances, careers, health, weight, happiness, partnerships, business, coping abilities, aging, relationships with families or friends. These struggles can change with age and stages in our life. What was important when we're twenty is not so important when we are sixty or seventy.

Recently one person mentioned the fear of being a sales person and how to create her own business and find her own clients. This is a struggle for many people, especially for people in the natural health-related fields who find it a challenge to emphasize their talents and their fees. Why? Because we want to take care of people; we don't want them to feel we are putting pressure on them to spend their money. But, aren't we doing just that? If we want to share our services with others, we have to think of the sharing as an exchange. I give you this and you give me that. Both parties must feel that the exchange is of equal value. So as natural healing artists, we must address our fears about selling our services to others. Whenever we address our fears, try to think of yourself from a wholistic framework which can help you coach yourself to learning how to turn your fears into action items.

WHOLISTIC FRAMEWORK
I spell holistic with a 'w' because, for me, wholistic means whole. We are all whole and we all have the tools we need within ourselves to maintain a healthy, happy, and productive life; but sometimes inner thoughts and fears or outward pressures from the world and others create blockages that stop us from having the life we truly desire. That is what natural healing is all about - finding nature's way to ensure we stay balanced in our lives. Let's elaborate on the word 'wholistic'.

Wholistic can mean the linking or combination of the body, mind and spirit. Drawn from the principles of the Ayurvedic system, referred to as the system of life, we draw on the elements of Air, Fire, Water, and Earth as the underlying basis of the structure of the universe which is also the same basis within the human structure. We are all made up of air, fire, water, and earth and we use these basic elements as expressions or preferences that help us increase self-awareness of our gifts, strengths, and also of our blindspots - those parts of ourselves that we do not like to visit or that feel boring to us.

This increased self awareness along with the increased developmental use of all the elements within us consists of the Air or Mental side of ourselves which relates to how we think and dream - our ideas about life. The Fire & Water relate to the Social side of ourselves and how we relate to others through communicating, coordinating, cooperating, and connecting. The Earth or Physical side represents how we build a world that is solid and which manifests the ideas of the thinker or Dreamer through the processes of the two Social expressions of Fire or the Actions we take and Water or our Reactions to the process as we move through it.

OUR PREFERRED ELEMENT
This whole-person system is driven by the captain of our ship which is referred to as our natural, most preferred element or way of operating. When we allow the captain of our ship to guide us, it helps in its process to yoke all four elements into the maturation of our higher or spiritual self. This higher self is expressed in life by how we take our strengths out into the world to share with others; the ultimate goal of a spiritual life on planet earth is to self-actualize or to bring into actuality our gifts which are tempered by life itself - not in the world of the imagination - but in the world of reality -- through a complete process of manifestation developing and using all the tools within us that nature provides.

REFRAMING FEARS
The fear of sales, in some sense, can be reframed and doesn't have to feel like 'sales' but sales can be thought of as a context for sharing who we are with others. The process for insights into this struggle is not about getting you to 'sell' yourself but the process is about assisting you in sharing (hence getting sales) your highest, most actualized self with others even when you have or in spite of having these fears and blocks. The fears and blocks are the actual stepping stones for closing the gap between where you are and where you want to be - sharing (selling) your services to others.

COACHING TO INCREASED CONSCIOUS AWARENESS
No matter what you are afraid of and no matter what your blocks or stressors at the moment are, coaching to conscious awareness helps to bring and crystallize what is not working into what can be turned into an action plan. A good coach will help you create an action plan that is perfect for you and will then assist you in moving toward what you do want instead of what you fear or are striving to avoid.

COACHING TOOLS
The fundamental tools applied in a coaching session are personality preferences, behavioural insights, addressing fears and blocks through questioning skills, getting clear on motivational drives, insights for dealing with conflict and confrontation, and the use of various processes to increase personal insights as you focus and move forward on what you want to achieve - hence 'coaching' skills for achieving your goals/targets/dreams.

Try the Prosperity Game: How to Expand Your Imagination and Decrease Your Resistance to Prosperity (By Stephanie Wilson-Coleman)

In lieu of creating a vision board, my staff, and a few close friends starting playing "The Prosperity Game." We decided to play the game for thirty days and to record not only our purchases but also our emotions and inner thoughts. The purpose of the game is to expand your imagination and decrease our resistance to the good the universe has prepared for us and is diligently trying to deliver. However, because of our resistance, the Universe has been unable to do so. I was extremely excited and actually thought I would be able to sail through the game without any adverse thoughts. But this was not the case.

The first day of the game, my emotions ran the gamut from not having enough money to not knowing what to buy. When I did make my purchases, I was concerned if I spent my money wisely. While these emotions caught me by surprise, I was abruptly made aware of areas in my life where my vibration did not match my dreams.

Both Mathew (Mathew 7:7) and Luke (Luke 11:9) tell us what we ask for we receive, seek we find and when we knock it will open. What is not clear are the required steps for asking, seeking and knocking. During the course of our life, we often ask for prosperity and receive lack, look for health and find illness. Frantically, we search for answers, any answer. We look everywhere but manage to overlook our thoughts, the culprit of any dis-ease we experience. We tend to avoid our thoughts because we want our life to change but we do not want to change.

If we are to improve the quality of our demonstrations, we must change our thoughts, our vibrations, and our conversations. Knowing this is not enough. After acknowledging the need to change, we must start to demand of ourselves higher standards. Refuse to participate in conversations that are filled with things you do not want to experience, e.g. sickness, poverty, bad relationships, lack, limitations. Use your most powerful tool, your thoughts, to create the good you deserve, the good you crave. Talk about being financially independent, refuse to gossip and more importantly attach only positive statements things to your I AM.

The Prosperity Game reminded me that we ask, knock and seek with our feelings, thoughts, and words. Guard them with care. Make a commitment to focus on situations, thoughts, and feelings that make you feel good. This is the key to success. This is the key to fantastic manifestations.

Remember, life is too short to drink cheap champagne.
