Parents And Children's Behavior - Points to Ponder

Learning To Read With Mom Photo, Children, Boys, Family, Books

At home little things are even more important. The behaviors of parents and children have its profound effect. It makes huge difference in parents and children's personality and psychology. Scholar's view in the following paragraph is self-explanatory:

"The beginning of both spouse and child abuse can be found in seemingly insignificant things, such as belittling the abilities and competency of another, constantly criticizing, being insulting or calling names, refusing to communicate, manipulating, causing guilt fleeing, repeatedly making and breaking promises, intimidating, threatening physical harm, making unfolded accusations, or destroying property."

It is a two-way traffic and has its impact evidently in their respective lives both positively and negatively. The point to ponder is to understand individual's rights and responsibilities. They both need to execute it emphatically and judiciously. Any deviation and distortion from the right path at the behest of materialistic gain will deeply affect them alike. A word of caution, they must think out of the box to comprehend the reality of life and its meaning the context of creation.

It is a fact that people learn from their mistakes and failures rather from their success. This particular experience becomes a tool to shape up own house and impart rich culture to younger generations. The transformation of constructive attributes will positively show improvement in personality. It then teaches them that respect is earned through command and not by demand. Here, it is important to emphasize that The Holy Quran highlights 'Dignity' apart from respect. This is the crucial and cardinal intersection that catapults the youth into the orbit of knowledge and wisdom. It gives parents a sense of pride to see their offspring achieve success and fame.

The youth will then be exposed to new vistas of behavior, which follows the foot-steps of wise people and becomes the beacon of light to others. This is the after-effects of adopting and molding individual's personality into meaningful ways. He not only improves upon self but also gathers others into the umbrella of sense and sensibility. At this point, the youth takes over the mantle and starts learning advancement of knowledge and its application. The self-confidence makes him strong and determined in self-improvement and also contributing to the society. It ultimately leads to development of the mind, which synchronizes with self-improvement and personality development.

There are many tools available to achieve success affecting different people in varying circumstances. Steve Tobak says that it is not intrinsic characteristic or personal habits that determine success or failure. It is your behavior. It means; it is an individual's discipline both in home and in working environments. It reflects your attitude, commitments and flexibility to understand and execute the values.

Analyzing the above scenario objectively will focus our mind on the existing circumstances in our society. The life is progressing with an accelerating pace forcing parents and children a daunting task to meet both the ends. It develops cracks in the delicate fabric of family relationship. Both expect more commitments from each other. Hence strained relationship, and families started to drift and seek solace somewhere else. This is the focal point where parents need to inculcate values in children and make them realize where to draw the line. The children need to understand their position and avoid excesses thereby losing their balance in life.

Parents should also realize that children during this era are exposed to more avenues to learn and understand ethical values. Parents who are ignorant of new vistas of knowledge expose lack experience. Their stagnant intelligence and rigidity in life are depriving their appreciation to gauge the situation. It then, denies the necessity to listen and understand to their children's mind. Of-course, their rich experience can be shared with children who in turn analyze it and adopt those values. Healthy interaction and critical discussion with each other objectively can be of great value to both.

Message From the Universe: Let's Get Serious About Having Fun

Women Inside A Van

"You don't have to take everything so seriously. Life isn't black and white, answers aren't always yes or no, and absolutely nothing has to happen today. Act when you're ready. Be led by your feelings. And the next time someone wants to fit you into a mold, just tell 'em that your jeans are in the wash, your angels are at the mall, and Oprah's on the other line.

Fuzzy as dice,
The Universe"

Everything will happen when it has to happen. Taking life too seriously will end up draining all your energy and your passion to survive. You can't always live on your guards, day in and day out. You need to just relax and enjoy this journey. I am aware that you may have goals and dreams and want to do everything in your power to reach them sooner than later. Unfortunately for you and everyone, life has a way to intervene and put a halt on these dreams and goals, and that is not to piss you off or anything, OK, maybe just a little, but mostly because it will not let you shine until it feels you are fully ready to face these great responsibilities of fortune and glory. You may think you are but this is not always the case. With great power comes great responsibilities and it is not always up to you to determine your readiness to these responsibilities. Do not worry though, the right time will come and you will be able to enjoy the fruit of your labor and become successful in your own rights. I am not saying it will be easy, or hard, or whatever, but it will require you to be patient, determined, passionate with what you do, stay positive despite the hurdles you will face and most importantly, never give up.

Your future is pre-destined to be what it should be and you can't really know what you do today was already a part of your destiny. You may change path, but then again, was that already pre-written in your book of life? If you take that one door instead of that other, can you consider that a potential change of your imminent future or was that change already a part of your path to existence? You can go crazy to try to understand the what if's of life, or if you should have done this or that and maybe you would have experience more success in life. You can't know and will never really know but that is the beauty of all this. The fact that you don't know reveals a vulnerable side of you that you have your entire life to cope with and taking chances is what will make you reach success. If you are too afraid of the unknown, you will never know and live your life in regret, always wishing you should have taken the risks you are willing to take today. So go out there, enjoy the journey of life and always stay serious about having fun.

Do You Have the Patience to Be Patient?

It's said that being patient is a virtue. Is it really or is it just a good idea?

I'm not sure that virtue has anything to do with being patient, but everyone around me seems to be striving to attain this trait. It's supposed to be healthy, lengthen your lifespan, make you an easier person to be around, and help your heart. So I figured I should try to be virtuous... and patient.

I've tried and I've tried to be patient over the years, but have never quite succeeded. When I was young, I wanted to be old. When I was in elementary school, I wanted to be in high school. When I was in high school, I wanted to hurry up, get married, and be an adult. Finally, I wanted my babies to hurry up and grow out of each phase and into the next... until they did. You get the idea.

Are we, any of us, ever happy with the status quo? Are you happy right where you are right now? I think patience has a lot to do with happiness. Sadly for the majority of us, we have so many responsibilities every day of our lives that we're just trying to make it through... through the day so we can get home to relax or on to other responsibilities like sports and dinners. Then we get through the week just in time to take care of our household, gardening, shopping, etc, so that we can... you guessed it... get through the weekend and have everything done.

Where does that leave us? We are all so busy every minute of every day that we resent it when something (or someone) should dare to get in our way and slow us down. If we're in line waiting to order and somebody takes too long, we get impatient and think to ourselves "how do they not know what they want by now". If we're in line at the bank or the post office and there are more than one or two people in front of us, it puts us behind schedule and we get anxious (and impatient). I think we all know how we react when we get to the grocery store and find that there are two lines open and about 25 people waiting to check out.

I don't know about you, but I'm tired of being impatient. I'm tired of letting normal, everyday activities upset me so much that I'm an impatient, unhappy person. I'm trying very hard to remember that every single one of us, those in line in front of me, the person walking so slowly that I have to wait, the driver in front of me going slower than molasses, are not doing it to hurt me or make me angry. They are simply other human beings living out their life and doing the best job that they can... just like me. We all have things to do, we all have schedules, and we all have responsibilities. Maybe one of those responsibilities should be to have more understanding for others and to be more patient... with each other.

How To Simplify Life When You Have Kids

Life can be hectic and chaotic in general, but add kids into the mix and it seems to double responsibilities and obligations. If you have children, it's even more important to simplify your life, not only for your sanity but also to be a good role model for them. Teach them early on that no matter what society says, they can choose to live a simple, peaceful life. Below are 4 simple tips on how you can start doing so.

#1 Have each child choose one extracurricular activity

Some parents are run ragged by getting their kids to all their various activities. This is certainly the case when there are several children in the family. Decide now that each child can choose only one extracurricular activity per year or season, depending on how much you feel you can handle. They may grumble in the beginning, but they too will enjoy a less stressful schedule.

#2 Create an out-the-door basket

Set up an area right beside the door that you go out of in the mornings and designate a basket for each child (and adult). Before bed, each person is responsible for gathering up everything they need to take with them the next day and putting it in their basket. This makes mornings go much smoother!

#3 Create a weekly lunch menu

Before you go shopping for the week, sit everyone down and come up with one lunch menu for everyone for the week, with very little variation. In other words, no one is allowed stuff that no one else likes. They can have that at home during the week.

For example, buy turkey and ham and the kind of cheese everyone agrees on. Buy one or two types of fruit and vegetables only. Purchase one type of bread that everyone likes, even if it's not their favorite. Then on Sunday late afternoon, gather everyone in an assembly line and together, make all the lunches for the week at once. Since there's very little variation, this will make it go quickly and be one less thing you have to do each morning during the week.

#4 Move more slowly

No matter what you do. Build in more time between activities so you aren't rushing through eating dinner, for example, so you can get homework and dishes right away. Set rules for no running in the house, no dashing out the door without sitting down to breakfast. Start savoring your time with your family, it's one of the best things you can do for all of you.

Message From the Universe: There Is ONLY One Life to LIVE, So LIVE It Well!

"Do you have any idea of how many fans you have here in the unseen?

Students from far and wide. Admirers from near and far. Friends from other lands and other times. And do you know what they talk about the most when your name comes up?

Besides your French Toast?

Besides your saunter?

Besides your home here with the holiday lights you leave up year-round, the roaming wildebeests in the backyard, and the answering machine that says, "Off having the time of my life in the jungles of time and space... "

Your belief in the goodness of others.

10,000 Kisses,
The Universe"

There is only one life to live, so live it well. Despite the daily pressures of responsibilities, such as bills, maintaining a household, working on a new business, kids, and so much, we all, somewhat find a way to make all this happen. Imagine standing on top of a cliff, located above the clouds, and when looking down, you see emptiness. On your back, you have a parachute, but this parachute stayed in the backpack since its inception. You have no clue if it will open when you jump but you need to sometimes take that leap of faith and just go for it. I can't guarantee anything about how the descent will go, but life will always catch you by surprise. Situations that are out of your control will come and hit you in the face like a ton of bricks but it will be up to you to accept and find ways to work around them. You need to always stay calm and collected and realize that not everything can go your way. Some illnesses can hit you hard and keep you ill for a long while which are situations you can't really control. This is what life is all about. So when you are on top of that cliff, and you do decide to jump, you will be just among the few who will do that, and if you look back as you free wall to the abyss, you will see many staying up there, scared out of their mind, and just wanting to live this uneventful life and not having faith that their parachute HAS to open. So as you go plummeting down to Earth, you will question yourself as to the reason why you took that jump. Even though you are travelling at 250 miles per hour, it will feel like you are floating, as gravity is pulling you up and not down. The feeling will be odd because you will be at peace. Will this feeling allow you to accept the imminent danger of hitting the ground without the parachute to open? Possibly, but the reality is that it will OPEN because this is what you were meant to do. Your attitude about life is what will propel you to achieving greatness, to be one of the few where people from the top of the cliff will admire as to where did you get the guts to do what you did. They will envy you because of your courage, your determination and your desire to be different.

Not many have these skills or adventure type mentality. IS jumping off the cliff with no guarantee if the parachute will open might be construed as being suicidal, yes, in some instances. However, the truth of the matter is that believing in yourself and knowing that regardless of what is waiting for you on the ground will just help you know yourself better and working towards your goals. You want to succeed in business? You need to be bold and taking risks. Staying up there will never allow you to experience the hurdles to eventually appreciate all the efforts you put to succeed. The pain may be unbearable, and you will see a huge lack of support from your loved ones during your journey to success, but by keeping yourself motivated and determined to go where just a few people have ever dared going will make you someone that everyone will dream in becoming, but never ready to sacrifice anything for the sake of greatness. In your journey, you will feel all alone, in isolation at times. You will have just a few spurts of breathing room and then will have to dunk your head under water again. You will have to do that over and over again. It will feel like you are running out of air but with the presence of unknown power, you will be pulled up so you can breath again, just for a few moments, and the cycle will repeat over and over again, until the time comes where a massive 200 feet boat will fish you out and apologize for the incident of dropping you in the water. You will be given a towel to dry up and when on board, you will realize that the ship has YOUR NAME ON IT. Congrats, you made it in the big league.

The Streamlined Mind - Organizing Your Social Life

Do ever feel like life would be a whole lot less stressful if it weren't for all the other people?

We all feel like this from time to time - and especially when life is getting on top of us and we don't have the time, energy or money to devote to our friends.

So how do you go about organizing your social life and staying on top of all those things you need to do?

Prioritize

The first thing you need to do is to prioritize.

If you have a busy social calendar, then it's often easy to feel overly stressed and put upon. You're constantly being asked out to events and if you say no, then you feel as though you're letting people down.

This gets harder and harder as we get older. People move away and meanwhile we have more and more responsibilities. We feel like we can't say no to a friend who invites us out because it was so long since we saw them last time.

Here's the thing though: there comes a time in life where you just can't do everything you want to do. As such, you need to prioritize and as sad as that sounds, that can sometimes mean pruning your social network.

Right at the top of your priorities if you're an adult, should be your partner, your children and your immediate family. If you're having a hard time turning down invitations, then simply remind yourself that you need to reserve the lion's share of your time and energy for your family. This doesn't make you a bad person, it makes you an adult with responsibilities!

This doesn't mean that you're going to cut off contact with your friends or tell them you don't want to see them anymore! All it means is that you might - for example - only accept one invitation to spend time with friends a week. Or more realistically, two a month as you start to get older.

That means that if you have two invitations from two sets of friends, you might simply to decide which friend is one of your 'priorities'.

'Dunbar's Number' is the number of friends that we can realistically maintain relationships with. He puts the number as somewhere between 100-250, with '150' being the most commonly quoted figure.

This number though is not exclusively referring to friends though but rather all the contacts we can maintain whether they be friends, colleagues, associated or acquaintances.

In reality, you can probably only maintain about 10 truly close relationships - so choose who those ten are going to be!

Forget Frenemies

One thing that makes this a lot easier is to think about all the friends you have that aren't really friends. These are the people who we count as friends but who really we don't actually enjoy spending time around all that much.

These are the friends who we constantly moan about to our other friends. And these are the friends who let us down.

As you get older and the stakes get higher, you unfortunately just don't have time for friends who aren't really friends. As such, it's time to put those people to one side and to focus on the ones who you really enjoy spending time with and who are there for you.

Just as removing some of the unnecessary items from your decorating can help to put more emphasis on your favorite belongings, you can likewise enjoy closer relationships with the people who really matter to you by spending less time with the people who don't deserve your time and energy.

Keep a Calendar

Another important tip is to keep a calendar. If you have lots of friends and a busy social life, then this is likely to result in a lot of different things planned. One of the biggest stresses that can come from this is being double booked for multiple activities which means letting people down or rushing to try and accomplish both.

Keeping a diary is a great way to avoid this from happening and especially if you can use an app that will let you easily update and edit events on the fly. This way you can also set up different reminders to ensure that you always know what's coming up and don't forget something big you have on your agenda.

What's even better about using an app like Google Calendar is that you can also let other people see your diary and contribute to it. This is a great way to arrange meetups and get-togethers because it lets people see when you're free.

Now comes one of the very biggest tips for organizing your life and getting things in order: make sure that you also add your other tasks and to do list to your diary.

Ask yourself what the things are that you absolutely can't miss. For instance, you might decide that at all costs you are going to go to the gym three times a week. Maybe you absolutely can't put off filling out your tax return any longer.

So make sure it's in the diary and treat it just as you would any other activity - as immutable. If someone suggests doing something on that day and you have 'fill out tax return' already on that date, then you explain that you can't meet up, or that you'll have to get there are couple of hours later.

It seems extreme but once you start taking your commitments seriously, you'll find you have much more time to actually do the things you want to do and that you don't feel stressed because those necessary tasks are constantly being pushed back.

Facebook

Ah Facebook.

Facebook is one of the biggest culprits for many of us when it comes to procrastination, stress and overwhelm. Not only does Facebook take up a huge amount of time by giving us something to randomly browse through, it can also lead to stress (and even depression) through something called 'social comparison theory' (we essentially compare our lives to the highlights that everyone else shows off).

Then there's the fact that Facebook keeps us in touch with all those people we no longer know, no longer care about and no longer need to be in touch with.

So what's the solution?

You might expect me to say 'delete Facebook' at this point, but that would really be rather rash - after all, Facebook is a very useful tool and can actually make organizing events and things a lot easier.

Instead then, simply take a look at your Facebook and streamline and prune it.

Firstly: you probably don't need the Facebook app on your phone! Not only does the Facebook app take up a lot of juice thereby draining your battery and slowing down your device but it can also constantly pester you with notifications and messages that really aren't all that pressing. They come through as emails anyway, so why not turn off the app?

More important is simply to delete those contacts on Facebook that aren't really friends. People from your infant school, people who you met at random parties and people who you don't like can all go.

And as for your news feed, why not just 'unfollow' some of the people you don't really want to see?

Doing all these things will allow you to make more use from Facebook without the stressful/distracting/time consuming elements.

Then just make sure to limit your own Facebook use. For example, how about limiting yourself to 10 minutes of Facebook a day?
