How to Deal With Your Anger in Constructive Ways

Woman Wearing White Beanie

Wow, some people just know how to push your buttons, don't they? Wait, I KNOW he did not just cut you off in rush hour traffic and you are already late as it is?! And why is she always so mean and nasty to you? This is her job. It's what she gets paid to do. You would think Ms. Thing could understand that and just do it without the attitude. And why is it so hard for him to just leave you alone? You're trying to be professional about this whole situation but he better not let the suit fool him! Hey, anybody ever heard of a thing called customer service around here?! And why is she up in here like you did not clearly and specifically tell her not to bring that person with her? Now you have got to deal with this nonsense when all you wanted to do was have a good time. It's like the whole world is trying to make you angry!

There's no use denying it, so you may as well admit how you feel. You're angry and quite frankly you have every right to be. Yes, you do and don't allow anyone tell you different. No one gets to tell you how you should feel. You must trust your own emotions to guide you. I'm not saying you should be turning over chairs and slamming doors. Anger is, like every other emotion, designed to alert you. It's a message. Objectively speaking, it's just data.

How you deal with your anger says more about you than it ever will about that button-pusher. Besides, the person who is hurt the most by your anger is not the one that caused it, it's the one holding it. The longer you stay angry, the more damage you are doing to yourself. Sure, you can pick up that hot coal to throw at someone else but you are just going to burn your own hand first. So let me share with you a few constructive things to do with all that anger:

1. Recognize Anger For What It Is

When you get a message, it's important not to ignore it. You can spend time acting like anger is something more benign but that is just a waste of time and energy. Pretending you are not angry makes as much sense as pretending you are not holding a burning hot coal. Oh, you think we don't notice that look on your face? The sooner you recognize it, the less pain and injury you will inflict on yourself. I'm not saying you have to announce it to the world. This is about allowing yourself to acknowledge to yourself that you are angry. Once you recognize and own it, you give yourself space to choose how to appropriately respond.

2. Focus On Dealing With Your Anger

First things first. That incredible hulk shtick is so not attractive. Now that you recognize you are angry, give yourself a moment to take some deep calming breaths. Focus on things that allow you to calm down. I'll be honest with you here, even the most intense emotions can begin to pass within a few minutes if you recognized them and don't push them away. That said, you are worked up enough as it is. If you are talking to yourself -out loud or in your head - be sure that your words are more positive and peaceful. If you can't pull yourself to speak positive words, just stay in the space of admitting how you feel and acknowledging this is not what you want. Better yet, just focus all your attention on taking a few more deep, calm, relaxing breaths.

3. Ask Yourself How

There are several Hows to ask at this point. Now that you are aware of your anger and calming down, you are in a better place to choose how you want to respond. Ask yourself: How have you handled this type of situation successfully before? How can you handle this current situation in the best possible way? How can you honor your own needs and still be respectful? How can you do things differently so that you don't end up here again? How can you make sure the most important things are handled well? A great way to handle anger constructively is to find ways to prevent the situations that make you angry. Asking yourself how activates your problem solving skills.

4. Why You Mad, Son?

You are a brilliant person. No, I'm so serious. You are brilliant! You are also your best teacher. You handled the situation wonderfully. Congratulations! Before you file this moment away in the past, don't forget to take the good with you. Pay attention to the wisdom you are giving yourself in this situation. There are tips and tools you are giving yourself to be a stronger, more powerful, more purposeful, more peaceful you. No one said you had to love the circumstances. Choose to pay attention and figure out what this moment was showing you about yourself regardless of how you feel about the people and circumstances. Take away from this situation the lessons you are giving yourself about what makes you angry and how you can constructively deal with those triggers.

5. Don't Forget About the Other Guy

Do you remember those button pushers? Of course you do! As your brilliant self is showing you how to pay attention to the data, bring yourself into a calmer place, figure out how to not be here anymore, and get even more brilliant that you were a moment ago, I don't need to remind you this is not just about you. The best way to handle this moment is to be more aware and considerate of someone else's needs and emotional state of mind. Why it that? Well, as you show up in a loving way, the answers you need about how to handle that button pusher begin to reveal themselves to you. You will never get to the best solutions coming from a place of rage and hatred. Let them hate. You stick with the greatest weapon of all LOVE.

How much of your own anger could you dissipate if you were more appreciative toward the people around you? Yes, you are truly brilliant but you could really stand to be more thoughtful. I'm just saying. Wait a minute, I'm not suggesting you have to find ways to be nice to that button pusher in this moment. What I am saying is turn your appreciation towards someone else who needs it. It's not just about noticing when someone is feeling happy, or grumpy. Spend more of your time considering how your own actions are impacting others. Being angry is no reason to mistreat others.

It is impossible to speak life to someone else and not feel better yourself. Don't believe me, try it. Move to the right so the driver behind you can pass by. Allow that car to merge in front of you with a friendly smile & wave hello. Compliment her on the job she is doing right instead of bringing up the things she is doing wrong. In silence, look at someone and think "I'm sending love to you. I am sending love to you." Notice how that changes your mood and helps you to think of more positive things to think, do, and say.

The more love you spread, the more love you feel. The more you give, the more you receive. It is very tough to be or stay angry, when you choose to focus on being loving, and filling the day with life. The most powerful way to constructively deal with your anger is to deal with more love.

I'm curious about what works for you. Did I miss something? What ways have you found to feel more love when you are angry?

How to Change Negative Thought Patterns

woman wears white and black scarf

Have you ever wondered why it so easy to see the negative things in our lives before we see the positive things? Even as a professor I have to stop myself from picking out the wrong things in a paper before seeing the correct things in a paper. This is something I have had to work on. A little later I will share with you how I am working on it.

Let me say, If you are not used to evaluating yourself in honesty and truth on a consistent basis, it will be hard for you to recognize even when this is happening. Even then there is always the denial phase that we go through. I know this because I went through it as well. It was a complete shock to me when I realized just how cynical I had become and how it was so very easy to see the negative before seeing the positive.

Once I accepted this was indeed the truth I began to carefully evaluate my thoughts and my behavior and one by one I began to see the pattern. It may take you a little while to realize, but you see you can then begin to do something about it.

I decided to write on this subject because just this very week I saw negativity rear its ugly head regarding a big project I am working on. Not once has this person for whom the project is being done for, stopped to say thank you or to demonstrate that he sees the effort put into the project. But, what is painfully noticed, is all of the things about the project that is not right. I've come to realize that this thought process is human nature. Our world, our environments has made us so cynical that it's hard to see the beauty when our vision is so tainted with so many other negative thoughts.

Now the real revelation came as I was sharing with a friend how sad it was that this person could not see the good things that were taking place in the project. At that very moment, the light bulb came on, and I saw that I was doing exactly what I was accusing him of doing.

Now, here's the kicker, was I telling the truth about this person's behavior? Absolutely! Were they telling the truth about some issues with the project? Absolutely! But how does any of mine or his complaints solve the problem? Well, it doesn't. Here's what's happening. Because of the negative backlash, my teammates and I are going to get tired and not do the job with the enthusiasm we started out with. Let's face it! Negativity is demotivating. Many people, particularly use it as a tool to motivate. Let me tell you. It doesn't work.

Telling your child that he or she is not good enough or that someone else is better than they could enhance their competitive nature, but ultimately, the resentments and hurt from the spoken words meant to motive can cause a wound that may not ever heal.

Their competitive nature may propel hem towards some success in some areas of life. But the wounded spirit left unmanned and can lead to further complications down the road. Often acted out in many vices that are in the world today. That is one of the reasons why so many seemingly successful people tend to be alcoholics, drug addicts, or hide in shame while attending to other vices such as overeating and cheating, etc. The other thing that can happen is that due to the lack of motivation and let's face it, heart put into the project, it will not turn out right. So the end results will be a self-fulfilling prophecy for him.

But what about my teammates and me? Should we allow his behavior to deter us from doing the job we set out to do. The obvious answer is no. But the truth is, who among us feel good about doing something for someone that is seemingly unappreciative. In all honesty, no one does.

Back to the revelation. As I was pondering this situation and my reaction I asked myself how I can change my thoughts about this situation? Now, of course, one of the first thoughts that came to me was that this person, we are working on the project for is not going to change his thoughts. Again, that's a true statement, but how does it benefit me at this time to think that truthful, but negative thought? How does it help me to persist in this thought pattern? Simply put, it doesn't.

When I am lecturing this subject sometimes, students ask, how is it negative if it's the truth. Here's the quick answer. The thought is negative if it does not propel you in a positive direction. This thought was very quickly driving me into a depression. A mindset that says stop! Let it go. Don't do it. Now mind you, what I had to come to grips with is that these were not my thoughts. At least not my initial thoughts. So which thought was real? Which thought was mine. Was it the original thought that had me excited and gung-ho about the project? Or was It, this now lackadaisical, I don't care thoughts?

The other critical question was who was I giving my power to? Was it this situation? This seeming unappreciative person? Or am I the master of my thoughts, my actions, and my behavior?

So I had to quickly make some changes. Here's the truth of the matter. He will most likely not change his behavior. This behavior is a pattern and has become ingrained. The older we get, the worse it gets. We speak, live and walk in this type of behavior every day. Indeed, it has become a pattern. A bad pattern of behavior. So how do we change it? How do I change this pattern? Here are the following steps to changing your negative thought patterns.

Recognize the truth about you

Accepting the truth is sometimes very hard to do. This too has become a pattern, a way of life. The only way to break the destructive habit is to be completely honest with you. It's so important to accept the good, bad and ugly about oneself. It is our imperfections that keep us humble, continually refining our character and striving toward the mark. Dealing with the truth that we often see the bad before the good is illuminating. Does that make you a negative person? Yes, pretty much! This is the ugly about me that I had to recognize. But the great thing about it is that I created this pattern so I can most certainly break it. I have the power, and so do you. Today, you can take back your power!

Commit to change

Recognizing the truth is good but for change to take place we must commit to making a change. Consistency is the key. We must be vigilant in discovering the truth about our behavior. We must carefully analyze ourselves at every opportunity and commit to changing the destructive behavior. Commitment equals dedication. Dedications equals demonstration.

Identify the cues

The next step is to determine the cues that cause us to persist in this pattern of negativity. How do we feel when this behavior crops up? What are you doing? What's happening around you? What's happening in your life overall? Are you at peace? Most often, we are not at peace. There is some upheaval that going on in our lives. Unfortunately, this event or circumstance happens to get the brunt of the negatively that's inside of you and truly has nothing to do with this situation.

As you analyze yourself, you will begin to catch yourself when you are looking for the negative instead of the positive. As a professor, I realized that one of my cues was frustration. I am always in awe of how 80% of my students can read, hear and see the same thing and yet 200% of them get it wrong. So, I have noticed that if student A is a good student and following directions, it shows in their papers.

After grading one or two of these papers, my body is relaxed whenever I get to student A and I am looking forward to commenting on the good things in the paper. Now, student B previous papers demonstrates that he or she does not take the time to read and follow the directions so in subsequent papers I began to look immediately for what's wrong with the paper and not what's right.

Breaking that habit was hard. But identifying the cues was enlightening. The bottom line is when I am feeling good I see nothing but the sunshine and good things. When I am not, I see the negative before the good. Now this is pretty much truth for all of us, but it is eye opening to recognize how often you are feeling good versus feeling bad.

Reframe the issue

The next step in the process is to reframe the issue. I love this word. REFRAME. What does it mean? Here is how I see it.

If we are talking about pictures. We would take the picture out of the ragged and broken frame and place it in a beautiful new picture frame. We have just reframed that picture.

It's the same thing with words, expressions, and situations. We have to look at the situation from a different angle, from a different perspective. What helped me in the case mentioned above was two reframing thoughts.

First, I looked at it from his perspective. The person whom we are working on the project. It is important to know that this is a not a paid project. It is voluntary. I make that point because of the reframing thoughts would be I am getting paid to do a good job if this was a paid project.

However, looking at it from his perspective was a great place to start reframing. There was truth in what was said, just not expressed well, but that's beside the point for my reframing. The concerns were legitimate. The way the words were spoken was not helpful. However, the message behind the words could lead to a better project.

Second, I had to look at it from my perspective of working towards refining my character. As stated earlier, I must stay true to myself. I cannot allow someone else's negative behavior take me out of my own character of giving it my best. That's my personal value. My personal credo is to do everything in excellence.

So even this, shrouded as it is in negativity, must be done in excellence. Moving forward several months in the future I will be happier with myself if I know that I gave it all I could. That I did everything within my power to make the project successful. Regardless of what is said even regardless of the outcome, I will feel good about my contribution.

And that's the essence of reframing the issue. It's turning it around to see the good and not the bad.

Now, this is not something that can't be done once. It has to become a pattern. Because I live my life this way now, some of my friends who are used to seeing the negative first looks at me a bit differently. Most people want you to agree with them when they are in their negative rants. In fact, one of my friends bought it to my attention last weekend that growing up I was always the one to say smile and don't let it get to you. She saw it in a negative light.

Funny, how that works out huh? Something good like encouragement to behave appropriately in public was seen as negative. Like I wasn't true to my feelings. But the truth is even then I was reframing the issue. I refuse to allow someone else to dictate my behavior. I can indeed accept my emotions and honor my truth. But I don't' have to let anyone control my behavior and how I respond. I choose to reframe the issue.

From reading my story about recognizing my negative patterns, can you see yours or share with us what methods or tools you use to overcome. Some of us are still overcoming, and that's okay. We would love to hear from you. What's your best overcoming negative thoughts tool?

Message From the Universe: Daily Inspirational Quote

Woman Wearing Black Bra and White Tank Top Raising Both Hands on Top

"It's always been my intention that one day you'd inherit the earth, have dominion over all things, and thoroughly "kick butt."

How does today sound?

Think of it,
The Universe"

Your positive thoughts will become positive things, which also includes positive action plan with belief that you do deserve it all. You can think all you want, even if all your thoughts are primarily positive, but if you do not believe that you deserve these great things to happen, you will even things out, hence, nothing will happen and you will confirm your belief of neutrality. The Universe is a mathematical equation that deserve to be handled using equilibrium on both side of the scale. If you think positive, believe positive. You can't allow contradicting thoughts entering your mind which when belief is not in sync with your thoughts, nothing really good will happen. Positive thoughts in itself are very powerful, but they are not the ONLY parameters needed to live a productive and healthy life. Everything needs to be aligned properly for things to happen the way you expect.

Your subconscious mind is a very powerful tool that can control more than what is happening in your direct environment. It is, I admit, difficult to BELIEVE that your mind can control what happens in the Universe. With the billions of galaxies, with billions of stars and planet within these galaxies, and the multiverse theory which allows parallel universe to exist, it can be difficult to fathom that your mind can control how things can happen to benefit your life. Never underestimate your power because that belief will destroy any potential you may have to change the world around you. Remember, you need to focus first on yourself, changing your world from within and once you have mastered that skill, you can go and help the Universe fulfill your dreams of wealth, health and happiness.

Why Things Happen?

Things do not happen. They are bound to happen. Expect problems along the way. Remember, opportunity does not knock, it presents itself when you beat down the door. Do you remember at one point in your life that there were things that have happened to you, either healthy or unhealthy. It all happened for a few larger reasons - whether or not as a result of God's plan, or as a result of what happened was somehow your fate.

I do believe that everything happens for a reason. In fact, these circumstances shape our own individual path by the choices we make every day. At times, it should appear that these occurrences were destined to be in our lives. Everything that happens to an individual affects them and shapes their entire life. In other words, everything happens for us to learn from and mold us to become better individuals.

Unexpected events in our lives happens for a reason but it depends on how we see things clearly. Life is packed with positive things, however many of us perpetually see them as dangerous. Everything comes at the right time. There are days that could be a challenge to beat; however, we ought to see the great facet of things like gifts, lessons, or opportunities to own a more robust life. typically things happen to us which will appear ugly, painful, and unfair initially, however in reflection we discover that while not overcoming those obstacles we haven't accomplished our potential, strength, willpower, or heart.

Nothing happens by smart luck. If somebody hurts you, betrays you, or breaks your heart, forgive them, for they helped you learn about what trust is about and the importance of being cautious to open your heart. Finally, if you like somebody tell them, you will never know what tomorrow may have in store.

When folks have to be compelled to deal with tough things in their lives, they often reassure themselves by communicating that everything happens for a reason. For some, thinking this fashion makes it easier to touch upon relationship issues, monetary crises, disease, death, and even natural disasters like earthquakes. It will be distressing to suppose that unhealthy things happen simply through probability or accident.

Even if events that have an effect on human lives don't happen by statistical probability. Several of them ought to be viewed as happening by chance, within the sense that they're the inconceivable results of the intersection of freelance causative chains. Psychological analysis has known many ways to make resilience in people and teams, like developing problem solving skills and powerful social networks. Life will be extremely significant notwithstanding some things that happen simply by accidents. Stuff happens!

I realized that this is true for any major stepping stone in my career. We've got to place within the time and work slowly to push that boulder up hill. Each very little success is a sort of ridge you'll build from, or another stone in crossing the stream of success.

If you are trying to force success you'll solely find yourself annoying folks and shutting doors that were open or opportunities that you just could've had. Life is a series of events which will either hinge upon each other or collapse ahead of you, counting on however you treat them. If you respect these events and use them fastidiously as stepping stones, then, there's no stopping you.

Just like sleep, life can return whether or not you are trying to force it. It's most likely best to not to worry yourself about it.

When unexpected events occur, we realize in an exceedingly moment of inarticulate horror that everything happens for a reason. In fact, there will always be a reason why we meet people. Either we need them to change our life or we're the one that will change theirs.

Embracing Positivity in Darker Days

The turmoil of each day is so overwhelming and hindering us to see the light at the end of tunnel. Imagine how hard it can be to smile when you see your toddler being admitted for a brain surgery operation. Perhaps, how it is so hard to find hope when a loved one lay on a hospital bed and losing hair to chemo. How can you find the reason to face another day when you find yourself in situation like that?

We might all wonder why life can be treating us like that. Sometimes, we just hit rock bottom and it feels like the boat is on its way to sinking. We find ourselves in terrible situations where we feel there is no way out. The question you might ask yourself in such hard times might be " How can I focus on the positives when all hell has broken loose?"

So I wonder how can we find and embrace the positives than focusing on the troubles the day brings. Perhaps, a next-door neighbour comes with a tray of baked flapjacks or cupcakes when you have just lost a loved one. It isn't the cupcakes which you appreciate but the thought of them thinking about you in such a tough time. Let's say your daughter makes you a cardboard card with drawings and stickers of flowers, babies and stars wishing you a speedy recovery as you lay restlessly on your hospital bed.

What am I trying to say?

Embrace the good and positive things that happen everyday. When you in the habit of noticing the small things like receiving a tray of cupcakes from a neighbour and being grateful, you will find yourself in a better state. Those positive things can take you by surprise and has power to wipe the not-so-nice things in your memory. Of course, it won't take away the cancer from your body but when we embrace positivity in the darker times of our life, we can pass through them with hope.

Life will always be filled with horrible things that when we focus on them in our minds, we become depressed. Situations, illnesses or horrific experiences can rob us our happiness. But we can choose to focus on the brighter side, we will find ourselves gaining hope that has been long-lost.

Remember, each day we have to make decisions on whether embrace the good things or focus on the negatives. When you choose to not let the circumstances dictate how you see life, you will find that you will adopt a positive attitude. There is always something to make you smile or make you feel that life is totally worth to live. Choose to embrace the good thing in your live. The gift of life each day can been something to focus on. The family or neighbours can be something you can be grateful of. Life is too short to focus on the negatives.

Hope will be the cornerstone of survival in your darker days. Never underestimate the power of positivity. Every situation has its positives.

The Key to an Amazing Life

Success means wonderful, positive things in life. Success means personal financial gain: a dream home, lavish vacations, and travel, financial security, giving your children the best of life.

The key to an amazing life is understanding the difference between wishful thinking and belief. Belief generates the willpower to take action and acquire the knowledge to do big things.

You have to build real practical skills; you can't just sit around and use positive thinking as a crutch. If you could have a different life if you could change something about your life, What would it be?

What if everything you ever dream of could be real? If you could believe that you can move mountains then you can change it by thinking big.

What is Wishful Thinking?

Wishful thinking is basically daydreaming. Wishing or imagining something would happen that isn't exactly realistic. A long habit of mere wishful thinking makes you lazy. You become frustrated, rational thinking with ACTION can only produce results.

Wishful thinking makes a successful outcome harder to reach. For any definition of success, reaching it starts within oneself. Any artificial goals or constraints along the way are obstacles and distractions. wishful thinking is one of the most dangerous of those

Looking at things not as they are, but as they can be. Visualization as value to everything. A big thinker always visualizes what can be done in the future, He isn't stuck with the present. "David J Schwartz"

How would you like to adopt the mind changing experience of successful people? Thinking big could do magic in our lives, We all want the good things in life, better jobs, new home, new cars, and vacations.

If we change our mind to think big it gives us the motivation to take action to have happiness and create the success we want rather than doubting ourselves the ability to live out our dreams.

Thinking big is about achieving your goals and having everything you want in life. As I mention early people who are big thinkers get big things in life.

Where you focus your thinking builds momentum, and attracts new opportunities that will help you reach your goal and the desires of life.

If want a better life then you have to do a little more than wishful thinking, you have to take action to make things happen. Doing what everyone else doing is not enough.

We have to think about our goals and achievements. Many people get so caught up in their daily routine of life that they drive themselves into depression and frustration of their current situation wishing things were better.

Staying positive and focus on our dreams and take control over our thoughts believing that our dreams can become a reality. Sculpting our future desires to become happy in life. Believing that we can create wealth, happiness, love, peace in our lives. Shifting our thinking that empowers us to gain access to an amazing life.

What is belief? It's feeling of certainty about something. Belief is a huge element that holds the key to an amazing life. It's about putting your faith in the unbelievable. It's your belief that allows opportunities to show up in your life.

Most people limited their belief by thinking that they can't have the best in life. The Key to an amazing life is changing our thinking habits and start thinking big believing in the possibilities.

Positive thinking will change your life. If you want to become better in your current situation. You are where you are in life because you have chosen to stay right there. If you want to have the key to an amazing life then you must choose to take action to get to where you want to be in life.

Think Big Without Limitation

Imagine if you were making $10,000 a month with your business. and your goal is to make more money next year. what would be your goal to increase your income. The average person would probably say an extra $5000. But Big thinkers would say $50,000-$100,000 why? because of their belief and positive thinking will open up doors that will allow them to achieved their goals without limitation.

Whatever your goals that you want to have, whether it's to be happy, a better relationship, a better marriage, financial freedom, dream home, dream car, we all have the desire live an amazing life without limitation.

The key to an amazing life is thinking big, belief and trusting that our goals are possible achieved.

Discover the possibility of creating an amazing life with your passion if you believe it can happen then what's stopping you.

Reasons To Consider The Law of Attraction

There are a lot of hurdles that can cause you to stumble through life. Millions of people are having a hard time navigating through the many different challenges that are in front of them. If you are having a hard time going through things, you are not alone. There's a lot of elements that could cause you to lose sight of your forward progress. To offset that, you could look into the Law of Attraction. In fact, there are some really distinct reasons why this is a good thing for anyone to test out. Whether you are a religious, or spiritual person, this could very well change the way that you see the future. Even if you're not much for believing in a lot of elements of religious thinking, this is a law that could change your perspective forever. Consider a few reasons why you should work with this option moving forward.

Creating Positive Change

First and foremost, you're going to be able to manifest a complete change for your life. You're going to find that the keys to success in life is not necessarily found in negativity. Negativity reigns a lot online and in real life. If you can cast that aside, you would feel a lot better about yourself and about the world around you. However, to get there, you're going to need to declutter things a bit. Creating positive change is not an easy task, but it's something that you can learn over time. Once you do this, you'll find that positivity will bring through a well of options that are positive in all things.

Financial Stability

Living paycheck to paycheck is a difficult task. However, it is not something that you have to deal with forever. Financial stability is something that can be harnessed through the Law of Attraction. As you learn what works for you, you can pursue things that make you happy. It goes back to the notion of loving what you do. If you truly were in love with what you did for work, you would no doubt feel the amazing euphoria that comes with financial stability, because you would not feel like you're working.

Better Health

For those that are dealing with health issues, this law can help you with finding new ways of healing the body and mind. It goes with the old adage of, "laughter is the best medicine", and it truly works on many levels. Natural elements are the distinct advantage that many people focus on in regards to the world of attraction. If you can naturally change your life, wouldn't you? That's the thing. Most people will, and guess what? You can do it too if you focus on the right components.

Overall, the best things in life are free. You can harness the energy that comes from your soul and push it out into the world to attract great things. However, you have to start with learning the right ways to pursue it. As long as you love your life, and you help usher in new positive things, you'll be on the right track.

Creating Happiness - The Power of Self Approval

There are issues that come up in life that cause us to lose self-respect. During these times we tend to feel discouraged and start procrastinating when important tasks need to be performed.

This is when we need to do two things:

  1. We need to look inward, and recognize all the accomplishments we've had.
  2. We also need to reward ourselves for the positive things we've done.

I have many friends who procrastinate when it comes to accomplishing something important. I see it happening all the time. I have to admit that I catch myself making the same mistake.

It goes like this: They are stuck in a rut and they need to move on. However, they feel like they won't succeed, so they dream up all the reasons why it won't work.

The way it looks to me, they are in denial. They feel comfortable with the status quo. They find it difficult to put the effort into doing whatever needs to be done to get to a better place in life.

Do you find yourself doing this? Are you not happy with your present job, your personal relationships, or the present place where you live? Whatever the circumstance, it can be changed.

You may be reading this because you find yourself in one of those particular situations and you know in your heart that you are not, and have not been, doing anything about it. You're eager to find the solution, or you're hoping you'll at least become motivated. Am I right?

Recognize Your Accomplishments

Well, the motivation comes from within. I can't motivate you. Something is holding you back, and there's nothing I can do about it. I've learned time and time again that friends don't listen to advice.

You need to look inward yourself and come to terms with whatever it is that's standing in the way. While you're doing that, focus on your past accomplishments. I'm sure you had many. You just are ignoring it in order to stay with the status quo.

If it helps, make a list on paper of each time in your life when you accomplished a great feat. Think back. You had situations in the past that were troubling and you did whatever you needed to do to get past it. You forgot you've done that, didn't you? Well, you can do it again.

Maybe you once had to do something nerve-racking that you didn't look forward to doing, like giving a speech in elementary school. Nevertheless, you did it, and you did well.

Keep going. Fill up that list. Now you have something to look at to help with self-approval. In addition, you should reward yourself for those accomplishments that went unnoticed in your own mind.

Self-Gifting

After all we've been through, it's useful to reward ourselves for getting through tough times. Self-gifting is a method of self-approval. It can lift our spirits, especially when we lost all motivation to make plans for positive change.

Deciding on a gift will also give us something to do that's enjoyable. Take the time to think of things you've always wanted. Find where to get it and make a gift to yourself. Think of it as a reward. You earned it.

Now you have the power to find that energy to move forward. You'll feel happy about it because you know you can. You already proved it.

Ways To Make Yourself Feel Happier

couple-love-happiness-park-733452.jpg

Do you find yourself looking at other people and thinking I bet their life is better than mine? Do you see people in a group or with a partner and think I'd like to have their life, they look like they're having so much fun?

How about you choose to be happy now with your Own life just as it is? Wouldn't that be a great feeling, just to be content with how things actually are?

You are unique and can make your own life just how you want it to be, and you choose to be happy. You don't realise how other people could be looking at you and feeling envious of how great they think your life is!

So literally Stop and think about your life and all the positive things in it. Change your focus from others to yourself. Are you a nice person? Helpful, kind, ambitious, excitable, relaxed, motivated, trustworthy and so on? Look at all your attributes which make you You. Then think of all the physical things you have in your life such as family, children, partner, friends, job, money etc.

Even if you don't have as much money as you'd like, or are not in a romantic relationship right now, or have children but they're causing you pain for example, then you can Still be happy and look at the positive side of each situation.

You may be in debt or not have much money, but do you have a roof over your head? Are you warm, dry and clean and still able to buy food to eat?

You may not have a partner right now, so why don't you revel in the fact that you don't have to compromise with anyone and can do what you want when you want?!

Your children may be causing you problems, but why don't you think how lucky you are to be able to have children (a position so many people would do anything to be in) and think of ways to help them rather than battle against them?

These are just a few examples, but it shows you can turn any situation around.

The happier you feel now, the more likely you are to get to where you want to be in the future. If you have goals and a desired life you want to obtain, then you need to be grateful for how your life is now. Sounds a bit like the chicken and the egg, which one comes first?! Even if you don't feel that great about how life is currently, it's not going to get any better if you feel negative. It can only get better if you already feel good!

I hope this article has been of some help and inspiration to you! I'm learning all of this myself and love it because it's made me a happier and more grateful person.

So to summarise and end my article, I'd like to leave you with this short and simple quote "Be Happy Now"!

3 Tips for Going Off Autopilot & Taking Back Control of Your Life

                   Woman Holding Magnifying Glass

Today I want to share some ideas for going off of autopilot and instead living your life on purpose. There are definitely times when doing things automatically is beneficial, but if you live in this 'auto-space' all the time, you allow life to happen to you rather than living your life the way you want.

Here are three ideas that you can use to live your life on purpose and by doing so, raise your vibrational energy, attract more positive things to you, get more done and feel much more vibrant, powerful and fulfilled.

Tip #1: Move out of the shadow and into the light. What makes you tick, what are you passionate about, where are you holding back? Tune in to who you really are and let her shine!

This is a huge topic that many books have been written on so let's just focus in on one little point... what are you doing to hold yourself back?

Most of us have been trained to hide a little bit (or a lot) of who we are. Maybe you've been told you laugh too loud or you're too quick to trust other people. Maybe it's been suggested you daydream too much and need to spend more time focusing on getting things done. Labels like; you're lazy, scattered, impulsive, lack self-control... all influence who you are and what you believe about yourself (even positive labels can hold you back!).

You also could be in a job you don't really like, but are there because someone else felt that's the career you should have. It's possible you feel afraid to course correct at this point in your life because you took schooling to get where you are or you've worked so hard to climb the ladder and to change now would seem like such a waste. Or maybe you're afraid if you stop you'll be seen as a quitter or people will think you're not smart enough, strong enough or committed enough to see things through.

Becoming aware of the areas of your life that are within your control and then using this awareness to help you make positive changes in your life is called conscious living. Noticing where you feel stagnant, uninspired or held back and then thinking about what you might do to make things just a little better can be a really great starting place for living this kind of life.

Doing things to please other people, pushing aside your real dreams and desires because you think (or have been told) they are too fanciful, is stopping you from reaching your full potential.

So when you consciously detect something is amiss, don't disregard it or push it aside because it's inconvenient. Instead, notice it, journal about it, explore it fully and see what comes to light.

Commit to finding and revealing the real you - I guarantee you she is wonderful and worth exploring.
Tip #2: Open yourself up to receive - gifts, compliments, love, healing, a helping hand...

This sounds like such a simple thing to do, yet it is not. Most of us have been taught that to need something from someone else makes you weak, immodest or sets you up to owe them and we do not like to be indebted to others. This stops us from being a true team member and collaborating effectively with others, plus it robs us of the pleasure receiving can bring.

If you struggle with receiving you can end up blocking everything you've ever desired from coming your way. Receiving and the pleasure it brings are two key pieces to filling up your tank so it's very important you learn how open up to it.

A simple way to increase your awareness around how well you receive things is to tune in to what you do or say when someone tries to give you something - like a compliment or praise. Really notice your response (even if it's just in your head!).

For example, if you just ran a meeting and I came up to you after to say "I just want to say you did a really awesome job chairing that meeting." How might you respond?

Most people will have patterns or habits that deflect, correct, deny, reciprocate, minimize, reject or question the compliment without even realizing they are doing it.

If you're honest with yourself, you'll likely find receiving a compliment can be quite a challenge. If so, here's what you might want to practice instead.

Feel the compliment, take it in, smile and respond with something like,

"Thank you, it feels great to hear you say that."

"Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it."

"It did go well, didn't it? Thanks for confirming that for me."

Tip #3: Practice forgiving - every situation you encounter in life is meant to help you evolve as a soul. This can be a hard pill to swallow if you've been abused, abandoned, traumatized, tortured or experienced other things in life that feel very personal and hurtful. So I say this with much compassion and love... forgiveness is a gift you give yourself.

Forgiveness allows you to take back the energy you are investing in being mad, hurt, ashamed, disgusted or revengeful and to instead surround yourself with the positive energy of compassion and understanding. You see, as long as you refuse to forgive someone - even yourself, you make it impossible for that relationship to evolve.

"Refusing to forgive someone else gives them space, rent free, in your head. Refusing to forgive yourself stops you from healing and ever truly loving yourself."
When you feel like you've been wronged or done something wrong... you carry that energy with you in your heart. As a result, you push yourself harder, are less trustful of your own guidance, you create impossible and inflexible standards for yourself AND you lower your vibrational energy.

"When you are able to forgive and learn to appreciate how that situation helped you become who you are today, everything changes."
The ability to forgive will help you plug a drain that is stopping you from fully owning your power. I know it feels like you are flexing your power muscles by refusing to forgive, but - as counterintuitive as it seems - the exact opposite is actually true.

By tuning into where you are disconnected from yourself and holding yourself back, you open the door to all kinds of beautiful discoveries. By opening yourself up to receive those good things, you increase your vibrancy, recharge your battery and become more abundant. By remembering to forgive both yourself and others when things don't go as you might have liked, you are benefiting from the lessons and plugging a drain that could otherwise put you back in your shadow.

The more you practice these three things the easier they will become and before you know it you're living your life in a vibrant and powerful way.

How to Feel As If Life Is on Your Side for Once

The more introverted you are, the more you feel like staying inside and thinking negative. Let me cheer you up by a single comment which goes like this: "You are not what has happened to you - you are what you choose to become." Now how do you feel the Universe is on your side and not otherwise? Read on for highlights.

Get yourself outside of home and start walking around the block. You will see children playing and licking lollipops. You will see guardians alongside them. You will also see couples in love hanging around. You will watch the green trees and the beautiful flowers that have blossomed. When you observe these things, your mind automatically gets the positive trigger and starts thinking a little positive.

Go to the nearest coffee shop and while you sip your coffee, read the novel you have brought with you in the sunny afternoon. Doing this makes you feel good and you hardly think the Universe is out there to get you.

As the sun starts to set, watch the beautiful scenery from a place where you can appreciate it fully. You have taken in all the positive things of your outside world as much as you can. Now time to head back home.

When you go home, continue with your reading for a while. And then stop. Call your favorite friend to cook and have dinner together.

That would be fun. You will be cutting vegetables, meat like beef or chicken and others. You have the light spices ready and so are the saucepans and fry pans. Cook a pot of rice as well. You are going to have a good, healthy dinner. While your friend helps you with the cooking, you laugh and crack jokes. Where is the scope to feel life is acting against you? You feel for once everything is going your way. You relish the dinner with your friend and after a little chitchat together, your friend leaves.

But you plan ahead how you are going to spend the rest of the evening without feeling negative or lonesome. Several good ideas will be:

a) Continue with your novel

b) Tender your garden

c) Write the plot of a stunning story

d) De-clutter your wardrobe

e) Make some phone calls to your dearest ones such as, boyfriend, relatives, parents, siblings and even some charity home to make a donation.

Doing one or more of these five things you will have spent the rest of the evening delightfully as well. Until you retire to bed, do a few minutes' reading on your novel and fall asleep, feeling exhausted and spent out in order to wake up afresh the following morning with full vigor.

Therefore, this is how you take one day at a time and feel the Universe is fully on your side for once, while you do and act everything in your own sweet ways.

Forgiveness - The Eraser of Anger

Forgiveness really is the eraser of guilt and anger. It is the key that opens the shackles of the past and permits us to move on with our life in a freer, far lighter way. Once we accept this we can start the process of healing that each of us deserve.

Keep these approaches in mind as you reflect and move along on your journey of forgiveness:

-- Your ultimate aim is to release the hurt and the anger that is feeding the pain. Just as you can recover from a painful thorn in your finger by pulling it out, so you can recover from any painful experience by moving forward. When it no longer has a place deep in your heart and mind, it can no longer fester, and the hurt can at last come to an end. Choosing to forgive means you allow those bad feelings to leave your life once and for all.

-- It's critical to replace bad feelings with neutral ones. When the facts remain unchanged, but those facts no longer have the ability to hurt, then you can move on from the past. You transform from being a victim and become the victor. You are human, and so you can be hurt. Human beings really are resilient, and because you are human you can heal - from a love betrayal or awful, unfair experiences in your life. If you're still reacting, then you're still stuck in some kind of emotional mud. Through forgiveness you can be free of those toxic reactions.

-- Humor is a wonder of healing. If you are able to smile about the love that let you down, or joke about the years you fought with a sibling, family member, or lover then you trade pain for a different emotion. That heavy load is shifted, substituted by a newfound lighter feeling that can even put a spring in your step. The healing power of forgiveness springs from our ability to move on from our anger and resentment. These emotions don't really hurt those ones who have hurt us, but they certainly do hurt us. Once we forgive we're actually protecting ourselves; we clear our mind, our emotions, and a great deal of our time. Focusing on more empowering and positive areas liberates and distances us from the event or person who has hurt us.

Forgiveness removes us from harm's way. As far as we continue to dwell on and concentrate on hurt in the past, continually reacting to the damage somebody has created, we remain emotionally stuck with that person and with what they have done. Forgiveness breaks the chains that lock. With it we take a huge step forward with our lives, releasing the negativity and shielding ourself from toxic emotional involvement.

-- Rehashing a hurtful experience over and again keeps it fresh in the mind, creating mental and emotional upset. Should the topic arise in conversation, it's much better to respond with: 'I'm choosing not to focus on that experience. I'm allowing it to fade from my life, and I'm moving on to better things.'

-- One of the most important factors of the healing process is our own self-talk. What we say to ourself is the most powerful driving force. Choosing words that feel true to yourself, we may say: 'I choose to feel wonderful today. No matter what others may say or do, my happiness comes from within. I alone determine how I feel.'

Affirmations such as: 'I am now taking care of the child within, and I am doing a really good job. I alone have direct control over my psychological wellbeing. I focus on the positive things in life. I wake up each day and focus on things that are beautiful and right.'

When we at last come to see that our anger hurts only ourselves, then we can reach that state where forgiveness is possible. With forgiveness we draw that line under the past and allow ourselves to move on with our life.

In this freer state, we can finally move on from the past, and at last start to live the life with which we have been gifted.

Shifting Out of Negative Space

Image result for meditation

Meditating does not mean that you extract that part of your memory and forget all that has ever happened before. Especially life events that haven't served you well and more than anything in this world, you would like the "pain and suffering" to be taken away. You must know, that our mind is like the revolving earth, ever evolving and spinning in its orbit in its own perfect proximity and whatever that's been planted before, it is there and always will be.

Because it is so wide and limitless, we can choose where we would like to lead our thoughts to. Our mind is the limitless space, and "negative" spaces are fundamental to building an "image and picture" of anything we wish to put together. That is how we are able to visualize dreams, scenarios, circumstances and fragments of things we have come to learn and know about. We put those pieces together inside our heads. When you learn to "un-clutter" the mind, you get to choose to be on the other side of the "negative space" that is part of your brain and living mind and you can't turn that part "off" like a switch. You can only ever attempt to make the effort for a "shift" into a different space.

When you "quiet" the mind, you see more clearly and there is a small window of opportunity to make the "shift" when that happens. Slowly, steadily, you shift yourself to a different space - a positive one. One that contains new affirmations and thoughts, new memories, experiences and places you have recreated for yourself. Planting new seeds takes time for it to grow and also takes consistent care for it to ensure that it is healthy and strong before you can bear fruits and flowers for you to enjoy and repeat the cycle.

It is a process, a journey, a learning curve for the mind to adjust and know its way around. Just like anybody you first come to know as a stranger, our minds are the same and it could be our potential best friend or worst enemy. You can make the effort to understand her strengths and weaknesses to make the "relationship" work or you can resist, resent it and feel like it is a battle and challenge every day and feel the need to fight against it all day long. It is a choice we all have and we can make it work to our advantage.

Meditation doesn't necessarily mean sitting in a chair or on a floor and just closing your eyes in a dead quiet room that could echo your breath and forcing your mind to stop the chatter. In the beginning, this would probably be counter-active to your first step of taking the leap to have control of your mind. It would probably work better if you used other tools or routines to help jump-start your mind and introduce new positive things and subjects into it before you begin to sift and sort.

Yoga is one of the methods that best serves as a physical and also a mental workout, producing best results for both body and mind. Because you literally hold your own physical body as your object of attention, all the focus and concentration put on it will ultimately produce positive results if you commit wholeheartedly and go into the postures with intent and give it your undivided attention. If you do it consciously for a full 60 - 90 minutes every day, that would definitely lead you feeling a whole lot better re-leasing all kinds of tensions and stress in your body and mind with your attention taken away from any feelings of negativity in that frame of time and put right onto your physical body directly to tone and strengthen. It is by far one of the most effective practices for easily distracted individuals.

You can of course pick up a quieter and more subtle routine and habit like a good self-development read, (if exercising is a big issue for you for whatever reason) books of a positive nature and feed your mind with more "good stuff" so that you can "fill it up" with new knowledge that are applicable in your daily activities and one that serves you well. Painting nature also serves as an extremely good way to put your attention on bright colors and natural feel-good settings and environment over a good period of an hour straight, uninterrupted with your mind stationed in a good, happy place.

It is a little obscure as people always have this idea that only professional artists can pick up that paintbrush to do something like that. But really, you don't need to be Picasso to attempt to engage in this activity. If you have a love for nature, it will not be a difficult task for you to set your eyes on it for a full hour, however your painting turn out to become is totally irrelevant and only serves as an outlet to grab hold of your attention.

The more positive activities and attitudes you choose to include into your daily life activities, the easier the road to be able to sit down and literally do nothing and naturally be able to quiet you mind comes quickly. You will no longer have to use external tools to aid you in doing so. It will just be you, your space and your mind. That is the ultimate goal eventually. Not having to meditate while you're in an awkward pose (yoga) or having to set your eyes on something beautiful to do so (nature) will be the best outlet to go about because you take yourself and your mind everywhere you go, literally.

You can't always carry your yoga mat with you 24/7 or readily have paints and brushes in your bag pack or a new book constantly at the back of your palms so if you can eventually do it with nothing in your hands or on your plate to "keep you occupied", you have successfully achieved the best method to do your meditation. To simply just sit there, close your eyes and let it all go. (Negative thoughts and feelings) To allow well-being to enter with ease and flow, making the shift to the positive space of every-thing you ever desired for and want in your life.

The Importance of Creating a Morning and Evening Routine

Newspaper, Reading, The Media, Women, Morning, Routine

Many of the most successful and influential leaders in history describe themselves as having a morning routine and/or an evening routine. Those names include Barack Obama, Winston Churchill, Steve Jobs and many others.

Having a morning and evening routine like this is a great idea because it makes it a lot easier to start the day on the right foot. If you find yourself often waking up late, procrastinating by hitting snooze and then rushing out of the door with one sock on, you'll know just how destructive this can be to your productivity later on.

Likewise, the morning is a block of time that will almost always be free from interruption, which means that you can fill it with useful tasks and activities. That way, even if the rest of your day is a bust you can rest assured that you accomplished at least those few positive things.

The importance of the evening routine is to help book end the day and also to ensure that your morning routine has the best chance of being carried out well. If you set yourself up in the evening, then you'll make it considerably easier to follow through with your plans in the morning.

Let's take a look at some examples of things you can add to each routine for your inspiration...

The Morning Routine

Healthy Breakfast

Eating a healthy breakfast is crucial to start your day off well. Keep a consistent menu and you can automate your morning process and ensure that you have fuelled yourself with complex carbs and all the nutrients that you need to function at your best.

Exercise

If you can exercise at the start of the day, then you'll begin your day with more energy and enthusiasm and you can ensure that you'll have burned at least a few calories before you begin. Even if you just do a few press ups and pull ups, this can make a big difference!

Making a To-Do List

Why not set out your goals for the day right at the start?

The Evening Routine

Lay Out Clothes

Save yourself time tomorrow by laying yourself out clothes. And while you're at it, why not lay out that gym kit?

Write a Journal

This is a great way to reflect on the day just gone!

Improve Self Esteem: The Ultimate Tips

Everyone is aware of the benefits and significance of ensuring that all kids possess strong self esteem once they enter the school and also when they go out of it. Self esteem is known as the difference between being a successful one and thinking that you don't amount to something. On the other hand, when we get outside of the school, it's rare to look for cheerleaders who will be on our side. It means that you'll have to learn how to improve self esteem on your own.

Self Esteem - What Is It?

Self esteem is somewhat the way you're feeling regarding yourself and this is usually not associated with factual situations of your entire life. For instance, you can be a millionaire yet you don't have self esteem for the reason that you think you have to become a billionaire. With that, you might not be happy and satisfied with the truth that you could just run a marathon in as long as 5 hours, instead of your aim of 4 hours. People are more prone to defeat themselves in all forms of crazy and weird ways and when you failed to learn the best way on how to improve self esteem earlier, you would just be doomed to unhappiness and failure.

Assess Your Life

One of the most difficult things for most people to do while they are reaching adulthood is to assess their life. It could be painful and heartbreaking to see things that you did not do and the mistakes you've made. It's the reason why most people prefer to consult a therapist to get over such things. On the other hand, when you've neither the time nor the cash, you may prefer to do it on your own.

You just have to sit down with a sheet of paper then write down all positive things regarding yourself, regardless how tiny they are. When you're funny, when you have nice and good looking toes and when you own a clean and classic car, it is no longer important. You simply have to surround yourself with positivity to learn how to improve self esteem.

Ask Others

After that, it's time to ask other people what they think and feel regarding you. Let them know what you do - that you're attempting to learn how to improve self esteem to be better and you will love their feedback regarding those positive things that they see and notice regarding you. Let them know that there's no time to think about negative things and you will be grateful to just hear good things they can say.

Create a Script

This time, you will need to make a script which will be based on the positive elements of your life and also your personality. It would be up to you to find ones which will really make you feeling good and also, you have to keep repeating those things to yourself again and again. Through focusing on good and then leaving the negative ones behind, you'll instantly learn that the key on how to improve self esteem can be found inside you. There are 2 options every day, to be negative or positive. When you wake up with a bad mood, it would be with you all over the day, yet you could change it anytime through the use of positive affirmations.

Embracing Positivity in Darker Days

The turmoil of each day is so overwhelming and hindering us to see the light at the end of tunnel. Imagine how hard it can be to smile when you see your toddler being admitted for a brain surgery operation. Perhaps, how it is so hard to find hope when a loved one lays on a hospital bed and losing hair to chemo.

When you are in the habit of noticing the small things like receiving a tray of cupcakes from a neighbour and being grateful, you will find yourself in a better state.

Remember, each day we have to make decisions on whether to embrace the good things or focus on the negatives. When you choose to not let the circumstances dictate how you see life, you will find that you will adopt a positive attitude. There is always something to make you smile or make you feel that life is totally worth to live. Choose to embrace the good thing in your life. The gift of life each day can be something to focus on. The family or neighbours can be something you can be grateful for. Life is too short to focus on the negatives.

Hope will be the cornerstone of survival in your darker days. Never underestimate the power of positivity. Every situation has its positives.

5 Positive Things That Happen on Quitting Drinking

Giving up alcohol is tough, but it is always worth the effort. The decision to quit drinking is surely an uphill task for people who have become dependent on alcohol. In fact, a study by the Edge Hill University, London, published in the journal Psychopharmacology in March 2016, found that even the smell of alcohol makes it difficult for people to refrain from drinking.

At times, the level of dependency on alcohol increases to such an extent that an individual finds it difficult to move away from the lure. However, avoiding it altogether is the best solution to stay away from the severe health effects of alcoholism. The journey might be extensively tough, but sobriety can make life more meaningful and happy.

Given below are five good things that happen when an individual quits alcohol to embrace a sober life:

1. Life becomes manageable: Life becomes more structured and manageable when one becomes sober. During the drinking days, life is generally a mess and people become comfortable with such a life. An individual usually believes that during the bad days it is only alcohol that can ease the miseries. However, after getting rid of alcohol, one starts to understand that there are various healthy ways to handle stress. In fact, drinking triggers most of the problems and abstaining from it can fix many such glitches.

2. Overeating is controlled: According to a study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition in 2013, alcohol may significantly affect dietary intake. Another study published in the journal Obesity said that drinking prior to a meal increases the quantity of the food consumed. Even mild intoxication can lure a person to eat more. Not taking alcohol means an individual can regulate his/her diet and eat consciously in regular quantities.

3. Person no longer remains nocturnal: Quitting alcohol will give a sound sleep at night. According to the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA), alcohol consumption can aggravate sleep disorders by disrupting the normal sequence and duration of sleep by heavily altering the total sleep time and the time required to fall asleep.
