Using Pleasure to Create the Life You Want

Our pleasure shows us where we are in alignment. It is a natural built-in system that shows us what is right for us. However, not all experiences we might label as pleasurable are created equal.

It is helpful to learn to differentiate between types of pleasure. For example, eating a piece of chocolate cake might feel good in the moment, but that does not necessarily mean it is in alignment with you. To determine whether it is or not, you need to pay attention to the entire experience. How do you feel after you eat the chocolate cake? Does it continue to be a pleasurable experience?

It is also helpful to pay attention to the quality of the pleasure. Is it consistent throughout the layers of the experience? Using the same example of the chocolate cake, it might feel good in your mouth but not in your body. Or, maybe it negatively impacts our emotions because it's more food than we actually need and we know it, and so we feel a little uncomfortable about having eaten it.

This approach applies to all experiences in our lives: How we feel at work, how we feel in our relationships. As we pay more attention to our pleasure and learn to really listen to it, we strengthen our ability to navigate through life.

Another thing that gets in the way of using pleasure as our guide is having a negative relationship with pleasure, which can make you feel bad about something that is actually good for you. Your conditioning distorts the picture of what you are experiencing based on ideas about what you should or should not enjoy. The opposite can also be true: we can be conditioned to feel pleasure associated with things that are not good for us.

The basic experience gets distorted by misconceptions and misinterpretations of events that take what would be a simple mechanism for determining what is right for us and make it confusing. It would be wonderful if it were as easy as a pleasurable experience automatically being in alignment with your needs so you could say yes to it and welcome more of it into your life. And if it were not a pleasurable experience, then you could redirect and go in a different direction. Once we get past all of the conditioning, this is true-but that takes some time to do.

It may seem as if, given all this conditioning, it is impossible to trust how you feel about things. However, the trick is not to cast pleasure aside and start trying to figure out what is best through your mind, but instead to dive more deeply in and practice paying closer attention.

To use pleasure as a guide-and it is a very useful guide-you can start to pay attention to where you might be filtering or misinterpreting the information that's coming in about what is pleasurable and thus learn about what does or does not work for you in any given situation. As you pay attention to all aspects of your experience around an event that you consider pleasurable, your understanding of what is pleasurable will become more refined. As we become more and more refined, it becomes easier to have that simple relationship with pleasure-if it feels good, then it is good for me. Then you will be able to use pleasure to cultivate the things, the people, places, situations, and activities that you want in your life.

As you do so, you will feel so much better and better in all aspects of your life because you are creating a life that is in alignment with you. And as you cultivate this, it will actually raise your overall energy. Your energy will start operating at a higher level, which continues the refinement process of your pleasure and allows you to really hone in on what is working for you and what is best for you through what feels good. And then your pleasure will become this incredibly valuable tool for creating a life that feels really good and is in alignment with who you are.

The Law of Attraction in Recovery From Alcoholism

You will always find exactly what you're looking for, this is an age-old truth. It still surprises me when I discover how many people don't realize this truth. To recover from alcoholism, which is my primary focus in the recovery community, I always start in the mind. Thoughts lead to feelings, which lead to actions, which lead to results.

So the question is; what are you looking for? Or may I phrase that a different way; what is it that you WANT? You see, wanting is the beginning of deliberate creating, and until you want something, you'll never have it. That being the case, if what you want is not currently present in your life, you must look inward and examine your thoughts.

Our minds are sending and receiving stations. All attraction begins with you. Therefore you must focus on what you want, not on what you need. Because, when you focus on what you need, you're actually focusing on the lack of what you want, thereby attracting more lack (of what you really want).

You must continually seek that which you desire. Every day, every morning, from your bed upon awakening, throughout the day, until again you find it's the end of the day, and your head is back on the pillow. You must continually seek that which you desire. When you do this, a vibrational harmonic frequency will begin to resonate out into the Universe, and all that is in alignment with that frequency, all things that resonate vibrationally with your desires, that resonate with what you want, they will begin to appear in your life. Not just things either, but thoughts and ideas, concepts from Creative Intelligence, they will begin to appear in your mind in the form of inspiration, excitement, and motivation. Things you've watched others attempt, and up until now you've never even dared to think about... but now you want to try them for yourself.

Soon, opportunities will begin to present themselves. New and different people will show up around you. Situations that used to baffle you will suddenly begin to resolve themselves with grace and ease. You will find yourself where you want to be, and becoming who you want to be, more and more each day. This is the way of things, it is Universal Law. It cannot not happen.

Then, it's simply a choice, not a struggle. I have many years of personal experience with these matters, in life generally, and in recovery specifically. When all you desire is recovery from alcoholism, and that becomes a burning desire, and it consumes you every day with a passion that surpasses all others, then it is an outcome with an imminent arrival. Be present; remain open; and trust your Intuitive Wisdom.

Why Hating Others Is Hating Yourself

I remember being younger and being confused when people would tell me that hating others is hating yourself. I distinctly remember a friend telling me "well if you don't like what she's been doing it's because it reminds you of yourself."

I remember being extremely against this philosophy, because many of the people I disliked at the time were very, very, VERY different than me.

For example, I've always been someone who values being polite and following social customs (like saying "please" and "thank you"), and therefore rudeness used to really grind my gears.

So, I would think, how is it possible that my hating this rude behavior has anything to do with myself?

Today, however, I've come more into alignment with the idea that "hating others is hating yourself." I've taken a much broader perspective of this idea than I once had.

I don't think we hate others because we ourselves necessarily mirror the same behavior we dislike. I think instead, hating others is hating yourself because the others are you and you are the others.

Let me explain...

From my viewpoint, and the viewpoint of many in the field of consciousness these days, we are all interconnected to one grand source of consciousness. It is my belief that each of our lives are simply different perspectives of this grand consciousness, but we are all, ultimately, one in the same.

For example, let's say that the grand, infinite consciousness is in the shape of a human body. Perhaps I am a hand, and you are the heart. Perhaps my neighbor is a foot, and a stranger down the street is an ear.

We are all different pieces of the whole, we are all interconnected and we all work in harmony together. However, we each have different jobs, different behaviors, different physical appearances and different ways of being.

When I decide I hate my neighbor, it's similar to the idea that my hand doesn't like my foot. They are different parts, yes, but they are of the same being, so when one hates the other, it in turn hates itself.

For me to get angry at my neighbor is for me to deny his specific role in the wholeness that makes up the grand consciousness we are both a part of.

Perhaps his behavior is different than mine and perhaps he makes radically opposite choices to mine. However, this is only because he is a different perspective of consciousness, and it his job to look at things differently than me.

So often we get mad at other people for not being like us. For not carrying our values, our beliefs, and our behaviors. However, if we start to understand that other people serve a valuable role to the wholeness of our grand being, it becomes easier to accept different their perspectives, even when we don't understand them.

It is some people's job in the grand consciousness to explore consciousness. It is some people's job in the grand consciousness to be ignorant of the grand consciousness.

It is the job of some people to uplift and be caring and kind, and it is other people's jobs to explore the darkness.

We are of an infinite consciousness, after all, so there have to be an infinite number (and type) of perspectives if we are to maintain our infinite quality.

In other words, it's OK for you to be a heart, and it's OK for me to be a hand. We both need each other, and we are both of the same. After all, what would happen if the hand convinced the heart to be just like itself?

Obviously, this would create a great deal of disharmony, and ultimately, it would not benefit the hand in the slightest!

If we want to truly love ourselves, we have to come to love our grand self, and our grand self is made up of many different perspectives and pieces.

So the next time you find yourself getting mad at your neighbor, your boss or your friend, consider that he or she is indeed a part of you, but with a different set of responsibilities and a different set of roles.

It is his or her job to be unique, often in ways quite opposite of yours or mine.

To experience harmony in our own lives, we have to allow each piece of ourselves to be what it is here to be. To truly love the whole of what we are, it's important to love ourselves and every person we encounter, regardless of their choices and their beliefs.

Be the best heart you can be, and trust the feet of the world know how to be feet!

In the end, we are all in this together, and we rely on one another to bring balance and harmony into existence.

Discover What's Already Inside of You That You Are NOT Using

You don't have to stay stuck in a job that you don't like. You don't have to live a life that is not in total alignment with your true desires. And you don't have to just rely on one source of income. You have phenomenal gifts and you were not born to sit on them you were born to share them. There are people who need and want your gift of inspiration and encouragement. There are people praying for you to show in their life. And there are people whose purpose is connected to your purpose.

We were all born with a unique gift to make a difference. And our unique qualities help us to stand out in a crowded world of others who are serving others. I believe that there are an abundance of gifts that you haven't even tapped into yet. I believe that God has purposed you to do something so amazing for humanity that it can catapult you into a new dimension of personal, professional, and financial success. Now we know that money is not everything, but money is a wonderful tool to do wonderful things for those you love and causes you care about.

Do you feel like you have something bubbling in you that is about to explode in a good way? Do you feel like you are under-utilizing your divine gifts? And do you desire to turn your passion and purpose into products and programs that can help others to succeed? There is a great chance that you can step into a career as a life coach and experience a life greater than you have ever imagined. And it will cost you less than a college degree and you don't have to have any specific experience, just a passion to help others, a story, be purpose-driven, and a heart to serve, encourage, and motivate others to achieve their goals and dreams. If you have a story or a testimony that has blessed your life, why not bless the life of others?

God didn't allow you to make it through what you have made it through to stay quiet. He empowered you so that you may empower others. No longer can we stay quiet. No longer can we sit on our gifts. And no longer can we put things off until tomorrow. The time to become a change agent is now. If you continue to wait, that is one more day that you are out of divine alignment, that is one more day that you are not serving those you are called to serve, and that is one more day that you are not living the life you were born to live.

Many of us know what we need to do but taking action to get it done must be implemented. Because nothing happens until you take action. You have the power to create change. So are you willing to do what needs to be done?

The Law of Attraction and Letting Go of Your Limiting Beliefs

We are vibrational beings. With every thought we have we transmit a vibration to the Universe. When we place our focus of attention on a particular thought, we strengthen the vibration of that thought. The Universe responds to our vibration by giving us what we are placing our energy and attention on.When we repeatedly hold a thought, it becomes a belief. Our beliefs determine what shows up in our lives. If, for example, a person believes he or she is not deserving of success, then despite all efforts, there will be some way in which she sabotages her success.

Most of our beliefs come from the ideas we picked up in childhood. Unfortunately, many of those beliefs are not true. Think about your self-talk. How often is it encouraging and positive? For most people, the majority of their thoughts are negative and habitual. No wonder so many people struggle to reach their goals and dreams!

Our beliefs, attitudes and values are stored in our subconscious mind. You may not even realize some of the beliefs you hold subconsciously. Our beliefs become the lens through which we see the world and affect how we behave. If you want to know what beliefs you hold, simply look at your life and ask, "What would someone have to believe in order to have created this?"

Perhaps you recognize some of these commonly held beliefs:

  • No matter what I do or how hard I try, it's never good enough.
  • I blame others for my problems.
  • My opinion doesn't matter.
  • What I do isn't really important.
  • If people knew the real me they wouldn't like me.
  • I shouldn't try anything new or risky because I'll probably screw it up.
  • I don't deserve to be happy (be successful, have love, etc.)
  • Mistakes and failure are bad.

The way to consciously deactivate a thought is to replace it with a different thought. When you first give your attention to a new thought, the vibration isn't very strong. But with practice, you begin to shift your limiting dominant thought to the new one. You actually create new neural pathways in the brain, so the new thought is now your default thought. Now you will be transmitting a vibration in alignment with what you want to create in your life.
Think about how you feel when you have a negative thought. Not so good, right? That feeling of contraction is your indicator you are off track from creating what you want. Your Source knows you are deserving and capable of bringing into being everything you want to be, do and have. When you think a negative thought you are out of alignment with what is actually true about you. So, use your feelings as your internal guidance system to tell if you are in alignment with your desires or keeping them away from you.

Some ways to practice shifting to positive thoughts:

  1. Start paying more attention to your self-talk. When you notice a negative thought, gently replace it with a thought that feels better. Practice the new thought as an affirmation. You can start the new thought with the words "I've decided" or "I chose." Ex: I choose to know that I am deserving of success" or "I've decided I am deserving of success."
  2. Scripting is another great way to practice new thinking and raise your vibration. Simply write a story about how you want your life to look, as if it was already accomplished. Use sentence starters like, "I love knowing that... " and "It's so exciting when... " Read your script frequently to raise your vibration-and make sure it is something that feels great to read!
  3. Vision boards and "mind movies" are great if you are a visual person. There are many resources online that will help you with ideas for creating a vision board or create a video version of a vision board.
  4. EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique, also called "tapping") or PSYCH-K are two modalities that work to help you shift limiting subconscious beliefs quickly.

Stop Living By the Rules of Other People

At one point or another many of us have either cared about what other people thought about us, have been a people pleaser, or have allowed naysayers to block the path to us moving forward. I totally get it. But what I don't get is why some people continue that way of living to the point that they are not even living the life they desire to live, because they are living the life that others desire for them to live. There is nothing wrong with taking some advice from others, especially when it is done out of love and concern, but don't allow people to put you in a box. Who has time for that? Life is so precious and so sacred, and at the same time so short that we can't afford to waste any of it living within the framework of the opinions of others. Guess what? People are always going to have something to say. So if they are going to talk you might as well be living a life that makes you happy, right?

Too many times people allow the fire for their dreams to get snuffed out because someone doubted them, or because someone told them that their dream was too difficult to achieve, or because someone didn't support them. But we can't allow what other people think or say to keep us chained to a life of settling. There has to be a mindset shift that occurs. We have to get to that point where we think and believe in a way that is in alignment with what we want to see manifest in our life. Does that mean that things will be easy when we are working toward a goal? No it doesn't. But what it does mean is that we are not going to kill our dreams before they even get birthed, and we are not going to allow anyone else to do it either.

What is the point of walking around with a dream stuck in your heart? Who is that helping? It isn't helping anyone. If some people make you feel like your dream is too big then that's okay. When God places a dream in your heart it should be big, right? He is a big God so why would He give you a small dream? And just because your dream is too big for others to conceive doesn't mean that it is too big for you to achieve.

And never ever shrink down your dream to fit the small thinking of others. That is only going to make you feel discouraged and frustrated. And it can also cause you to be stuck in neutral, instead of moving forward. It is time for you to unleash the confidence to not only follow your dreams but to achieve them. And don't let anything stop you. You are amazing, you are driven, and you are powerful. And you've got this!

I Want To Be a Blended Being! (By Kathryn Corbin)

"I want to be a Blended Being! I want to be a Blended Being! I want to be a Blended Being!" These are the words and the sentiment that came up from deep inside my life when I first heard Abraham talk about the Blended Being.

It was early 2005 and I had just been introduced to Abraham and the Law of Attraction. I was reading Ask & It Is Given [in my opinion, still the best Law of Attraction book] and listening to recordings [in those days, on cassette tape].

And I was thrilled beyond belief to have found this extraordinarily joyful and empowering philosophy of life.

I was especially excited about the concept of the Blended Being and the idea that we can live our lives fully connected with Source Energy.

A Blended Being is one who is physically focused and enjoying all that physical life experience has to offer; and, at the same time, fully connected to Source, continually receiving guidance, unconditional love, support, intuition and inspiration. Truly the best of both worlds!

Over the years, as I have endeavored to be a more fully Blended Being, I have developed an even deeper appreciation for the value of living in this aligned state.

As a Blended Being:

* I know I am never alone. My non-physical support staff is always loving, guiding and supporting me. I have access in every moment to what Joseph Campbell calls "supernatural aid."

* I know that all is well. When I relax into my natural state of Well-Being, I know that everything is unfolding perfectly - even when it doesn't immediately appear that way.

* I really get it that we're all in this together. As a Blended Being, I can live in oneness, alignment and connection, trusting my custom-made guidance within.

* I no longer feel the need to work hard and struggle to make things happen. I can now relax and enjoy my life in my own way.

It's good to know that when I'm sad or worried or fearful, it doesn't mean there's something wrong with me. It simply means my connection with Source in that moment is weak.

And it's especially good to know that I can, if I choose, strengthen my connection and strengthen my blendedness by thinking thoughts that feel better and focusing on solutions rather than problems.

As Abraham says, "You are connected eternally to Non-Physical Energy. You can pinch it off or you can open it up like a fire hose." I don't know about you, but the fire hose idea sounds like a better choice to me!

Four Tips To Help Achieve Greater Alignment

For Conscious Creators, the concept of alignment refers to the situation where you are a vibrational match for what you are trying to manifest.

So, for example, when you are in alignment with trying to create a new lifestyle, then you are a vibrational match with the lifestyle that you are trying to manifest; or when you are trying to manifest a new relationship, you are a vibrational match with that new relationship; or the career, business, house, car, income, etc, whatever it is that you are trying to manifest, you are in alignment with it when you are a vibrational match with it.

Sounds easy. After all, if what you are trying to manifest is what you truly desire, alignment should be easy peasy. Right?

Well, in all honesty, getting into alignment is a fairly tricky exercise, even for experienced Conscious Creators. But there are a few tips and tricks that can help improve our ability to get into alignment and manifest what we desire.

There is something that I like to call the Alignment Trinity. The Alignment Trinity refers to your feelings, your thoughts, and your beliefs. In order to be a successful manifestor these three things must be in alignment, they must resonate in harmony.

While the Alignment Trinity is certainly an important part of that alignment/manifesting process, it's not the only thing Conscious Creators need to be aware of in order to be in alignment and be truly successful manifestors.

Below is my list of things that, to me, are important parts of getting into alignment.

Four tips to help Conscious Creators get themselves into alignment with what they are trying to manifest are:

  1. Be very clear about what your personal core values are. Your personal core values are the basic codes that your soul uses to identify what makes you truly happy, what brings you the greatest amount of joy. Being in alignment with your personal core values is one way to help you be even deeper into alignment with what you are trying to manifest.
  2. Be very clear about what your intentions are. Are your intentions shaping how you speak and act in your daily life so you remain in alignment with what you are manifesting?
  3. Be sure that your Alignment Trinity really are in alignment. Do your feelings, thoughts, and beliefs match? Are your feelings, thoughts (including your focus and attention), and beliefs in harmony, sharing the same outcome or objective?
  4. Be very clear about what your goals (or objectives or outcomes) are. Do your goals reflect and support your personal core values? Do your goals match your intentions? Do your goals match the focus of your Alignment Trinity? Are you remaining flexible with your goal while remaining true to your intention?

The final tip that I would like to share about getting into alignment comes from the very wise man, Lao Tzu:

Be content with what you have,

Rejoice in the way things are.

When you realize there is nothing lacking,

The whole world belongs to you

All efforts at successful alignment, all attempts at successful manifesting, all begin with being grateful for where you are in life, right here and right now.

5 Signs You Are Not Living Your Purpose

1. Anxiety - This is a big indicator of whether or not you are living your true purpose. Do you drive to work anxious about what's waiting for you at the office, or often worry if you've done a good enough job? Do you leave work carrying the stress of the day home with you? Have you opted for medication to calm your nerves? These are all signs that what you're doing is not serving you and are out of alignment with your purpose.

2. Fatigue - For me, a big sign that I am out of alignment with my purpose is fatigue. I begin hitting the snooze button several times each morning before finally getting out of bed and I need multiple cups of caffeine to get me through the work day. Then, come evening I can hardly make it to bed time without almost falling asleep on the couch. Yes, a job can be taxing, but when you love what you do you'll find that it actually energizes and motivates you to get out of bed in the morning.

3. Headaches - Are you one to not normally get headaches but you're finding that you keep getting one? Your body is one of your biggest indicators when things in your world aren't quite right. Check in with how you're physically feeling. If you find you're less likely to work out these days and more likely to pop some aspirin, you may want to reevaluate whether or not you're really living your purpose.

4. Sunday Blues - We've all had them. Sunday afternoon rolls around and instead of being #SundayFunday it's now become #Smonday - that moment you realize there's only so many hours left of the weekend and tomorrow you have to go back to work. If you're dreading heading into your job the night before, let's get real you're probably not living your purpose.

5. Financial Problems - Sure, there are many reasons you could be having financial problems, but one of them is that you're not operating in your purpose. If you are doing what your soul was created to do, something that utilizes your strengths and promotes a better version of yourself, it's not likely that you will be just scraping by. Every job I've taken that has been more in line with my purpose or supported me pursuing my purpose has financial sustained me as well.

For many of you these signs resonated with your current reality. If you no longer want to continue living a life that is holding you back from your true purpose, you must choose today to make a change. What small step can you take that will lead you in the direction of your dreams? Then tomorrow, take another step, and with each step you will begin getting closer to your purpose and further away from an unfulfilled life.
