When There Is No Hope Or Chance Left, This Is What You Can Do (By David Samuel)

I have received a comment on the article; How To Find Hope When There Is No Hope Left When I wrote the reply to that comment, I realized that this makes a really good article in itself, so here you go, a great answer for people who think that article is rubbish and not at all realistic. I hope this new version answers many more people in their search to get out of a hopeless or simply 'stuck' life.

There are two ages which we are not acceptable to mainstream workforce, too young and too old. However, with a little creativity, we can overcome these limitations. For example, when I was 12 years old, I understood people like a good deal, and they think they can take advantage of kids. So, I used their greed to put myself in a position to get lots of work, and do a little freelance business at much lower than 'adult' prices.

That got me started in my career as a photographer as I built up enough happy clients who paid less than a quarter they would for an 'adult' and eventually I could raise my prices and build my finances from there. Several young teens have done the same thing.

It's all a matter of accepting the situation and working with it, rather than fighting or complaining about the unfair conditions.

When we are old, we have experiences that we can use in a similar way to create a business for ourself if we cannot get a job.

People are stuck because they cannot see the forest through the trees, as the saying goes. It takes someone looking at them from the outside with enough varied experience and creativity to help them find what they can do on their own to earn some money.

Ethics are the foundation of what is required to open up creativity and build the self-esteem and other qualities necessary to become someone who is in high demand regardless of age or any other factors.

There is a saying in business. The location, the type of business, the funding, and everything else is easy compared to the hardest part of running a good business, which is finding good people to work for you. Maybe you are not as good as you think you are, and need a little polish.

You may have heard this other old saying; 'Necessity is the mother of creation.' The problem is that people tend to think they have tried everything, but that is a rather arrogant saying if you think about it. It implies that you actually know every thing that exists in the universe. Who could honestly say that without it being tantamount to proclaiming being God.

It takes humility and acceptance that just because you cannot find a job or solution, the reason is that you just have not found the right thing yet. So you have to keep looking, or get the help to open your eyes and mind to things you never thought of before.

After saying all this, I think I have come up with the one line that answers the title How to find hope when there is no hope left.

The answer is; to know that you do not know everything and that the answer exists. You just have to keep looking until you find it, have an open mind instead of your fixed opinions, and be humble enough to seek the right help. But before you can do this, you have to let go of your ego and your imagination that you actually have tried everything possible. Basically, you are not as smart as you think you are when you think you have tried 'everything'.

One word of caution about seeking help. If someone makes a living and charges a lot of money to give you advice, they usually do not have very good advice. Just think about this when you go to a coach or mentor. They make a living out of people who are stuck. Therefore, they need you to be stuck so they keep the client. Their main interest is their own income if they work on a set fee so they will give you enough help to feel you are making progress, but never enough for you not to need them anymore.

Find someone who has succeeded so they have proven they know what they are doing, and that they do not have a set fee, but take what you offer or perhaps a percentage of your profits. You need a partner in your success, not someone who makes money whether you succeed or not.

I realized something after being cheated by a lawyer; Never take the advice of someone who will profit from your loss. Choose your guide wisely.

What Is Luck and How Are Hunches Linked to It?

The question is what is luck? Is there such a thing or is it something that results from our response to a hunch? In other words, are we led by some internal power to do something at a specific time that will result in what we might call 'good fortune'? What determines who sits in a seat in a vehicle that crashes and one is killed and the other is not? Or why buy a lottery ticket on the spur of the moment that ultimately wins a prize?

Is it 'luck' as driven by a mystical supernatural force or it simply that it was going to happen and the one experiencing it just happened by chance to be there or to buy the ticket? Over centuries of trying to resolve this issue man has got no closer than that many will risk all to have a chance at being the next one to chance on the right situation at that time.

To answer the questions is to go deeper into the reason why we are here and what happens to each of us during our lives. After my reincarnation and with a strong link to the Spirit of the Universe it is my opinion that everyone is part of a plan. We are like puppets in a massive collection of players and every one of us serves a purpose. That means that what happens to us is part of the overall scene.

We might ask some tough questions in response to our probe into this topic. For instance why would I remember reincarnation when religions don't and others don't concur with it? Some feel they have been around before, others get flashbacks of past lives, still others have no feeling about it whatsoever and they don't believe in life-after-death anyway.

What about a hunch? Is that linked to luck and why are some things we suddenly do without thought can turn us into a genius or a millionaire? Why do some get a hunch to go shoot people in a public place? Or to stay away from something that will result in many being killed.

My link to the Spirit has shown me that it is the very thing we are talking about. It controls our moods, actions, desires, and where we are at any given time. The idea of luck removes the power from God to something that few can relate to but all know exists. If there is a plan in place to bring the world to a point of conclusion than it stands to reason that the players are given the ideas on which they act to bring it about.

We are in an extremely volatile world where anything can happen and bombs are exploding on a daily basis. People are fleeing conflicts and the old systems are failing. This is something written about many centuries past so it is nothing to do with luck or hunches but in my mind is the Spirit of the Universe.

What Will You Do With Your Beautiful Life? (By Serrieh Hijazi)

You know when something is right. I mean it just feels right. That feeling that glides through your day and falls into place in the perfect fit that only destiny could create. This leads me to believe that I am right where I am supposed to be. Now don't get me wrong, I get anxiety all the time thinking about being so far from my family and loved ones, in a country (an awesome one, might I add) but nevertheless a country in which I do not speak the language at all. I knew about 5 Spanish words excluding curse words, (growing up in Southern Cali you at least knew those) when I arrived in Costa Rica. It wasn't easy convincing my worried husband, who without him we could not be venturing into this new way of life. He would follow and I would be on my own until then. After some serious discussion and knowing financially and physically this would be the only way to complete a move of this magnitude, my husband hugged me as I got in the car with my daughter who dropped me off at Amtrak to start my journey to Costa Rica.

See, we did not have the resources or the savings to just pick up and go, live off of our savings for a few months until we got settled. We have debt, school loans, medical bills, a car note, and a few low balance credit card payments. Up until a year ago we lived credit card free, which meant if we did not have it we did not spend it. It is a great but hard way to live in the states since it is a credit based society. So in order to build our credit, we use them but try and use them wisely.

I thought about all of this as I boarded the train. I thought about our kids (yes grown but were still my babies), my mom and sisters, and how would I be able to be so far away from my husband who by the way is my best friend. Away from all those I love in a country I knew nothing about. I have a lot of "what the freak moments", but I have to remember this is a chance of a lifetime. My husband and I have wanted for a long time to live a more simple life. Yet I am learning more simple is not always easier. As an American and I only speak from my perspective, we live with way too much. Period. We don't need half the stuff we claim we do in order to have a good quality of life.

I thought I lived simple, but I am being broken down and it's like a baby being born into a new world. I am that baby. I have been stripped from all my luxuries I once thought were mandatory and it stings. Some of it brings a smile to my face and sometimes it makes me cry or frustrates me, but the lesson in it all, is I can figure it out. I never thought I could really do it by myself. Now I say by myself in the tense of surviving in a city without the help from anyone on a day to day basis, but the reality is my husband has provided me a once in a lifetime opportunity that many women or men will never get. My husband believes in me more than I do at times, something I would never want to admit to. We believed in each other and without him I would have never thought of traveling out of the country and wouldn't even think it would be possible. We are both so involved in this move spiritually and physically that it is draining and breathtaking all at the same time.

I am moving through life wishing I would have been this connected to the journey a long time ago. I wish I would have had the same respect for life that I do now. But would of, should of and could of does not fix anything. Learning my lessons and still smiling through the pain with gratefulness is the key. It is the key to happiness. Happiness doesn't always mean you will actually feel happy at that very moment. Nothing lasts forever but it comes in waves. In order to feel joy you must feel pain, or you wouldn't know the difference.

I know everyone is on the quest to find the true meaning of life, but the true meaning might be different to different people. That is the true meaning. At least in my eyes.

Principles of Growth and Chance (By Gaurav Sharma)

Sapling, Plant, Growing, Seedling, Growth, Potted Plant

Is there any easy way to achieve quality of life and strong relations with other people?

In life, there are sequential stages of growth and development. I have personally never skipped any step. I find these in all areas of development. Today I learn piano and effective communication with work associates, with this I found truth in individuals, marriages and organizations.

But for one to live in harmony throughout is difficult and not much common. So I like to see others look for a shortcut, expecting to be accurately skip some of the vital steps in order to save time and effort.

It's like I am an average tennis player but I decide to play at a high level in order to make a better impression. Can only positive thinking alone enable us to compete effectively against a professional?

Lets start, I am on a ten point scale at level two in my field. I have to prepare some unique steps which could take me to level three and so on.

'A thousand mile journey begins with the first step.' What if I can only take one step at a time.

To relate effectively with a lady, a man, her children, her husband, her friends, etc must learn to listen which requires emotional strength. Listening involves patience and the desire to understand (highly developed quality).

It's so much easier to operate from a low emotional level and give high level advice. Development cannot be pretended. I believe that most of us know the truth about ourselves. Many people around us, the people we will or work with are also aware of themselves (what's inside them).

According to a book written by J. Krishnamurti, happiness is a state of being unconscious. Only at the time of misery, a person realizes the importance of his past happiness. He believes that a person must overcome negativity and harmful thought waves. By conquering negativity a person can easily adopt positive approach towards everything. If the water of a pool is dirty and polluted, the bottom of the pool is not visible, similarly our minds must be free of dirt(negativity) so that it can lead us in a positive path.

I ask myself about the irony of my life that why do I keep looking for answers and not follow anyone directly. How come people around me achieve the goals they set for themselves and I fail. I understood that we all have some qualities and techniques that if followed help us in achieving our objectives.

* We know that Abraham Lincoln was self educated. He used to borrow books and read them under the street light or bonfire.

* Benjamin Franklin did not attend any school.

* Even the Wright brothers were not properly educated scientists. By profession they were bicycle mechanics yet they invented air transport and gave the world a whole new scenario.

I've learnt that inspiration, aspiration, desperation and perspiration makes a man determined to his ambition. From these four inputs anybody can change their luck. In the process of achieving goals we have certain obstacles which can be transformed into tools for success. Success is an internal as well as an external process. It starts within our mind and end physically. In order to be successful we must accept our responsibilities that will ultimately shape your destiny. We must learn from our mistakes and try not to repeat them. I was taught to develop character, confidence, values, beliefs and personality by referring to the lives of the successful people. One thing is common in the lives of all successful people that each of them combines integrity, patience, understanding, conviction, courage and loyalty. They have both ability and character. Hence, they succeed in anything they wish to achieve. Never postpone your happiness in order to work. Enjoy your work and do it with loyalty. We must be surrounded by people who bring out the best in us. While focusing on our objectives we must not forget to help others in achieving their goals freely. During a congregational service once a priest asked the people that all those who desire to go to heaven must stand up. All stood up except Abraham Lincoln. When asked by the priest Abraham kept quiet which frustrated the priest. Later Abraham calmly said 'I want to go to congress'. We must learn that happiness is something which can be felt or experienced. It is a quality of life associated with faith, hope, courage and ideas.

I get some information about the incongruity of my life that why do I continue searching for answers and not tail anybody straightforwardly. Why individuals around me accomplish the objectives they set for themselves and I come up short. I comprehended that we as a whole have a few qualities and methods that if took after help us in accomplishing our goals.

In life, there are successive phases of development and improvement. I have by and by never skirted any progression. I discover these in every aspect of advancement. Today I learn piano and successful correspondence with work partners, with this I discovered truth in people, relational unions and associations.

It's such a great amount of less demanding to work from a low passionate level and give abnormal state guidance. Improvement can't be imagined. I trust that the majority of us know reality about ourselves. Numerous individuals around us, the general population we will or work with are additionally mindful of themselves (whats inside them).

Believing Is Being

Believing is the power of being able to change the universe. Believing is what gives you the strength to step down from your bed every morning. Your belief is what makes you stand up again when the world knocks you down. Everything you do, every move you make, it is all powered by your belief in yourself, goodness of the world and a hope that things will be better one day.

Anyone can hope, it's simple; but to believe it every day, especially in the face of adversity, that is what makes it real. People are often blessed with special talents, intelligence, opportunities, good familial backgrounds, etc. but you still don't see them succeeding. Why do you think that happens? It's because they don't believe that they can do this. They are so blinded by negativity, pessimism and sadness that they can't appreciate these gifts and use them to better themselves.

In the discussion of beliefs, one concept that commonly props up is that of locus of control. 'Locus' here means location. This concept of psychology talks about your personal storehouse of control. It means where is it that you believe, rise the controlling powers that give your life a direction and push you towards it. There are two loci of control- internal and external.

Internal locus of control is the belief that in spite of forces in the world and universe you can control your own life. You are the ultimate authority on what happens to you, there is no such thing as luck or chance. Yes, there are forces in nature that are not only much bigger than you but also out of your control, but they will only affect you if you let them. You believe that everything that happens to you in your life is controlled by you alone and therefore you take responsibility for all your actions.

External locus of control on the other hand is the belief that luck, or chance, plays a very big role in your life. When some opportunity knocks your way, you'll say- "oh I just got lucky," instead of "I worked really hard towards it which why it happened." Or when something bad happens to you, you'd say- "I'm just having a bad day, the universe is angry with me," instead of, "I know what mistakes I made that got me into this pickle." When your locus of control is external, you recognize and accept forces bigger than you, and believe very strongly that they control your life.

Whether you believe in yourself or something outside of you, that isn't of prime importance. What is more important is whether you believe, because if you don't you will always be lost. Think about your beliefs as the ground you stand on, without this ground you won't be able to build any foundation. To learn and grow in life, you must believe in yourself and your abilities.

Do We Find Happiness or Does Happiness Find Us?

Plus: Research that reveals who does it best and why.

Relationship guru Maggie Scarf relates a story about a memorable party she and her husband once gave. As she tells it, a somewhat plastered guest overturned a punch bowl, which landed in the leek soup. Two couples left with the wrong spouses, several noisy quarrels broke out, and Scarf herself seriously considered leaving and staying at the neighbours’ for the night, since none of the guests would have noticed anyway.
After all the guests had finally departed, Scarf and her husband stood and looked at the river of litter and debris that remained. Their gaze met and Scarf opened her mouth to say something like, “I wish I were dead,” or “Can’t we move to Alaska?” But her husband spoke first: “Wasn’t that the best party, ever? Everyone had a wonderful time!”
Scarf recounted this story in a New Republic article about happiness and how one goes about getting it—an article prompted by a conversation with her then-teenage daughter, Susie. Like most parents who have run out of answers, Scarf quoted someone else as final authority. In this case, she took refuge in the words of psychoanalyst and philosopher Viktor Frankl, who said that happiness cannot be pursued, it must ensue.
Susie was not impressed. She said she couldn’t buy into such a point of view because it would be buying into a passive way of life. Scarf countered with another quote, this one from Nathaniel Hawthorne:
“Happiness is like a butterfly, which, if you chase after it, will elude you. If, however, you sit quietly and wait, it will come and light upon your shoulder.”
But Susie wasn't impressed by Hawthorne’s wisdom, either. She suggested that instead of waiting for the butterfly to land on her head, she would pick up a butterfly net and go after it.
While I tend to agree with Susie, Hawthorne does have a point: The root of the word happiness means “chance” or “good luck.” On these terms, the butterfly might land or it might not, and nothing you or I can do will increase the odds of either happening. Even so, I’m unwilling to sit idly by waiting for the best things in life to happen to come my way.
Maybe our fevered pursuit of happiness sometimes sets the wrong goal or employs the wrong tactics. But my own view is that butterflies are more likely to land on our shoulders if we put ourselves in the places where the butterflies happen to be. The chance of happiness favors those who make themselves available to it.
That said, we shouldn’t dismiss too quickly Maggie Scarf’s story about how her reaction to the party and the punch bowl differed from her husband’s. Research cited in the current issue of Scientific American Mind finds that two groups of people can look at the same evidence and come away with remarkably different emotional reactions. In this case, the subjects of the study—some of them young adults aged 18 to 25; the others older adults age 60 and above—were asked to watch videos about skin cancer, which contained disturbing images of scars and scenes of surgery. Special gaze-tracking instruments showed that the older adults focused significantly less on the disturbing images in the videos than younger adults did. Similar studies have corroborated the tendency of older people to focus more on the positive aspects of experiences—and to remember experiences in a more positive light—than younger people.
While this dynamic appears generally to be true when comparing older adults to younger adults, the same diversity of perspective can be found among people of similar ages. Put simply, we tend to see what we’re looking for—or what we want to see.
In terms of the butterfly analogy, we are more likely to find butterflies if we are running around with a net looking for them. (Or, as I like to say, life will always give you sufficient evidence to convict it of whatever you charge it with.)
This is not to suggest that we should try to disguise or deny bad things when they happen: When something terrible happens, it’s terrible. But even in the most difficult situations, we can inevitably find good things to acknowledge, as well. It won’t make the bad things go way, but focusing on the good that remains can give us courage and comfort. Focusing on the good things in our lives is a sure way to increase our experience of happiness.
