Go With The Flow And Do Without Doing

The Taoist practise of wu wei is about "doing without doing" or living your life in alignment with the flow of life - quite literally "going with the flow".

This becomes possible when we accept that:

"Everything in life has its own flow, its own pace and speed. If we can tune into and align ourselves with it, we can achieve without undue exertion and enjoy effortless ease in all that we do. We find that we instinctively know what to do and when to do it.This intelligence is the Tao at work within and around us. Relax into this flow and allow the Tao to direct your life." (The Unbroken Self)

We are brought up to believe that we get what we want in life as a result of what we do, by the actions that we take. However...

This belief causes us to create in reverse.

The underlying reason for this is we do not understand the power of our energy. As a result of this we so often end up "chasing our tails" to make up for the impacts of our unintentional negative energy.

In the Tao Te Ching, the Chinese philosopher Lao-Tsu said:

"In the practice of the Way, every day something is dropped. Less and less do you need to force things until finally you arrive at non-action... When nothing is done, nothing is left undone."

In other words doing without doing.

The issue that we all face is that we are obsessed with doing, and that inevitably involves some form of struggle. Those of us from a western influenced background are culturally conditioned to an action orientation, and thus we automatically place a great value on activity. Unfortunately, what we don't understand is that we are creating in a "reverse" fashion.

Most of our actions are out of fear, worry or doubt because we truly believe that nothing will happen unless we do something. Thus, rather than going with the flow, we end up attempting to force our intentions and desires into manifestation by our actions.

Here Is The Secret To Going With The Flow

It is not your action that makes things happen, it is your energy state.

It took me countless years to understand this dynamic of going with the flow! Years and years of working so hard, striving so hard... always pushing, pushing... yet the harder I pushed the further away seemed to be the results that I sought.

Eventually I came to understand that I needed to reduce my actions and increase my focus on managing my energetic state until I could feel the positive energy beginning to move within me. In contrast to my repeated efforts over so many years, this was not an energy based on doubt, fear, anxiety, worry or need. I learned to apply the following truth:

If you focus on the energy - the feeling - of what you do want instead of what you don't want, you will know when it is time to take action, and what action to take.

And when you do, it will be effortless. Doors open and it will seem as if the entire universe is on your side.

I once described a personal experience of this as like having a big red carpet unrolling in front of me and all I had to do was keep moving fast enough to keep up with it!

What I have learned the hard way over many, many years, and without doubt or reservation, is that we need to use the leverage of energy - the same energy that creates everything in the universe - The Energy Of Life.

You may have noticed that some people seem to lead a "charmed life" or have "the Midas touch". It can appear as though they have an advantage over everyone else.

At the other end of the spectrum there are so many people who strive so hard and yet achieve so little for all their effort. This may not seem fair but in all of my lived and observed experience of life that really does seem to be how The Energy Of Life works.

That doesn't seem fair does it? But all the evidence seems to suggest to me that's the way the universe works.

We are culturally conditioned and brought up to believe that there is "no gain without pain" and whilst there is a truth in that, it is not the whole picture. What matters is the energetic state applied to all that effort.

Actions are necessary, but they are the last component of the creation processes.

Actions alone cannot be used effectively to initiate results, because initiation is the function of your inner energetic state of being, then follows the thought, and then the action.

So the creation of anything we apply ourselves to is through our energetic state. We live in an energetic universe held together in The Energy Of Life and it is by the exercising and management of our energetic state, by going with the flow, that we harmonise and attract experiences to ourselves.

So before you act or do anything, check in with yourself, and ask: "what is my energy state?"

What is the simplest way to tell? You can tell by how you feel. Your feelings show you your vibration/energy state.

How you feel - your energetic state - determines what you attract.

When you do it this way you will find that The Energy Of Life will provide you with a different set of circumstances for you that requires much less action.

"The Tao never does anything, yet through it all things are done."

What's the Use: Overcoming Self-Defeating Thoughts

The toughest issue I have to overcome in helping some clients get past their blocks and move forward in life is an attitude of "what's the use" or "I'm not worth it." Some children who are emotionally or mentally abused come to believe that they're not valuable as people. This makes it very difficult for them to have enough hope or motivation to work through the blocks and heal.

Each of us can be tempted at times to think "What's the use?" and be self-defeated; so I thought I'd write this month about how to counteract self-defeating thoughts and get your motivation back.

Motivation comes from celebration and appreciation. I like to state it as an equation: Celebration + Appreciation = Motivation. When you use this equation you can motivate yourself and the people around you. When you express gratitude for what you have, and appreciate yourself and those around you for whatever has been accomplished or received, your energy begins to rise, and you feel more hopeful. Hope is the foundation for motivation. When you feel that things are possible, you're more motivated to get started.

To enhance your positive experience, do the following steps before any new activity:

1. Make a mental note of the possibilities: Can you learn something there? Can you meet a new friend? Will just getting out of the house and around new people feel good?

2. Remind yourself of your goals: You're going there to make new friends and to have fun.

3. Review your positive personal qualities: What do your friends like about you? What do you like about you? Your intelligence, your sense of humor, your style, your conversation skills? Are you a kind and caring person? Reminding yourself of these qualities means you will enter the event radiating that positive energy.

Research shows that people who have a positive outlook have better lives, partly because a positive attitude is attractive and charming, and people are drawn to it. As a result, you make friends. When you are positive you are supportive of yourself and others, you notice the good things more than the bad things, which makes it easier to connect to others. In addition, you feel much better about yourself, which means you feel more deserving of friends. It's a positive spiral, and goes up and up.

Being kind to yourself also means being present with yourself. This is such an important topic for today's age, where so many people escape into being constantly wired in, tuned in, and spaced out. Being present means being fully aware in the current moment, and paying attention. It is having all your senses-sight, hearing, touch, taste and smell-engaged, and not blocking them out. When you are present to yourself, you have an ongoing relationship with yourself, and you know in any moment what you think, how you feel, what you want, and consequently how to relate. Being present to yourself means being comfortable with your feelings, and also in charge of them, so you use your awareness to act thoughtfully rather than reacting impulsively.

Being present in relationships means really experiencing your time with your friends, family, and partner. Paying full attention to what they are saying, how they are feeling, and how that makes you feel. It will enrich your relationships, and you'll know how to respond to whatever is going on. Being present around others will also help you know the good guys from the bad guys, to keep yourself safe and happy.

Being present to the moment means you always know what's going on around you, and are available to take advantage of opportunities that come along at exactly the right moment. It also means you'll remember things and events more clearly.

Being present also means you'll need some alone time, to process all the extra information you're becoming aware of.

To get present:

1.Take a break from audio input. Take some time off from being constantly wired for sound: take off the earbuds, turn off the TV or radio, just be with you and with other people without all those distractions. There is a time and place for a soundtrack, but it shouldn't be drowning out your interactions with yourself and with others.

2. Practice asking your own opinion. What do you think about what's going on? How do you feel about it? What do you want to do? Try beginning each day with a planning session: what you do want to get out of the day, and how do you plan to do it. Is anything coming up today that could be a problem? How do you want to approach it? Try ending each day with a debriefing session: review your day, and have a discussion with yourself about how it went, what you will do differently next time.

3. When you're around other people, practice really paying attention to them, and to how you feel about being with them. This may change your relationships drastically, but it will be a change for the better. Listen to others' opinions, wants, feelings, and also know your own.

4. Allow yourself some "down time" from constant activity and stimulation. Learn to meditate or just relax and focus on the moment. Learn to still the mindless chatter in your head, and create calm there. Negative self-talk brings you down and distracts you from actually being present in your own life.

You can create this inner teamwork, if you take small steps in the beginning:

1. When feelings of embarrassment, unworthiness, shame, or fear arise; slow down and give yourself a chance to relax.

2. Instead of pressuring or criticizing yourself, reassure and encourage yourself past the problem.

3. Discuss the problem with yourself, allowing both the reasoning adult part and the emotional inner kid to express an opinion, while you stay in charge and keep the conversation heading toward a solution.

Asking yourself questions and comforting yourself can seem strange, because part of you will worry what others would think, but no one need ever know you're doing this. Even once you understand how to confront your inner feelings, you may resist at first, because you feel confused, ashamed or embarrassed. Old, ingrained subconscious beliefs that your feelings are frightening, and that you're unworthy of attention are fighting with your new, rational adult knowledge that you are important to you.

Once you negotiate an internal truce, you can become a new kind of person, within whom both the intuitive, feeling part and the rational, acting part work together for the common good, without a "good guy" or "bad guy," or winner and loser, but seeking to solve problems so that both sides are satisfied. Negotiation, communication and partnership become an integral part of your relationship with yourself, producing a sense of wholeness and power that give you the confidence to take risks and the motivation to get things done. It truly takes the self-image of a warrior, at times, to continue the hero's journey toward fully living life. The reward you'll get is peace: within yourself and within your family.

These are very effective tools to help you look at your own life and your decisions from a different and valuable perspective. The decisions you make today affect the rest of your life, and you are ultimately the only person to whom you are accountable and for whom you are responsible. Every new decision is truly a new life's resolution.

The Toxic People In Your Life

Many people with negative emotional habits are the same as the people who impact your life in a bad way. You just have to mix and match these, but the effects are the same: the reinforcing of all of your worst emotional habits as well which, is a bad place to be in.

To avoid dealing with such people that drag you down - or at least to reduce the interaction with them to a minimum - you must learn to identify the 4 types of toxic people in your life and then decide to put distance between them and you. It needn't be a complete and total exclusion of them from your life, you just need to allow yourself some distance so their negativity won't affect you.

Many times this simple solution works wonders in destressing and decluttering your mind and life as a little distance can go a long way. Basically, they are still in your life. You still talk to them from time to time, but they're not so close and so dear that they end up dragging you down. At the very least, you're not so connected to them that you are stuck in this downward emotional spiral.

This being said, let's now take a look at the 4 types of personalities that are most likely draging you down as we speak and keep you from achieving greatness in your life.

Toxic Personality Type #1: The Black Hole

This person has deep and profound emotional needs. They're very needy people. You can't tell by their appearance, though. Some look very successful. Some are very attractive. However, when they open their mouths to somebody they're confident in, it's all about them. It's all about how they have lost out, what they need, how everything in life is against them, and so on.

It's as if no matter what you do, or how much you support them it's simply not enough. Even if you keep on giving and supporting it's still not enough because that's how needy they are. They are black holes. All they know and all they seem to be capable of is sucking in positive energy.

So, do yourself a favor and stay away from black holes. I'm not saying you should cut them out, but don't get so near. Learn when to say no. After all, we all have one life to live and it's not worth sacrificing it for people who don't care about theirs to begin with.

Toxic Personality Type #2: The Judge

Do you have a friend or an acquaintance who's constantly putting everybody and anything and any situation into neat, tidy, little boxes? This might not seem all that negative at first. However, this habit of theirs can be quite bad because life is not black and white.

When such people see you they might say "you're a loser" or, on the contrary, they might go "oh, you're a winner." No matter what type of label these people put on you many times it's easy to be influenced by their labeling.

For some people it's tempting to think that they're losers (or winners) when they come across this sort of judgment.

But what if I told you that both these labels are equally toxic? Why, you might ask...

Well, it's because people are people. We change all the time. We have different dimensions. We have different aspects. There are so many sides to us and to reduce somebody to a one-word description really strips them of their complexity (ie. humanity).

If you say to a friend that she's ugly or she's stupid, you reduce that person's being to just one attribute. Maybe they're just behaving stupidly in that one moment of their life, but for the rest of their life they're acting like complete and total geniuses. So, does it make sense then to dismiss them as idiots?

And the same applies to physical appearances or income mobility or the ability to increase one's net worth.

Unfortunately, none of this nuance matters to the judge. This person derives a tremendous amount of comfort in making his or her world as black and white as possible. Everything is extreme. Either somebody is a loser or somebody is a winner. There's no in-between. There's no middle.

Stay away from these people, as well. Again, you don't necessarily have to stop being friends with them, but achieve some sort of distance because, sooner or later, you start adopting that black-and-white mindset, and this is a very corrosive mindset to live your life by. The world really is not black, or white. And it's not gray either. It has many colors, figuratively speaking. It's so rich, so vibrant and so beautiful that you just can't see it as black or white.

Toxic Personality Type #3: The Stylish Hoarder

The style hoarder is a person who looks at different people's lives and tries to find trends or styles that they can collect. When you talk to this person, they're not really interested in the real you. They couldn't care less about your hopes, dreams, fears, aspirations, insecurities. None of that matters. Instead, they look at what you are doing. They're obsessed with all sorts of trends. These can be technological trends, fashion trends or any other trends really. Regardless, it's stuff that other people are doing.

They then use this as some sort of grid when they're judging you, and they say, "Ah, this person, does he think this way? Does he share in that trend? Does she have this fashion sense that is kind of trendy?"

That's their value to you. You basically vindicate their judgments regarding tends because they're extracting a large sense of their self-worth and ego from that. They feel good about being able to spot these trends. They feel good about being part of the right crowd or people who think the right ideas.

However, these people are usually very shallow. They collect. They grasp. Conversely, the motivation is very shallow. It's really all about making themselves feel good, feel substantial and feel worthy. Unfortunately, this is all at the surface level. They don't really have the core conviction, or the substance of the trends that they are so obsessed about. And when you hang out with these people, you become superficial as well. You start slicing and dicing people based on where they are in terms of politics, cultural sensitivity, ideology, personal style.

Fortunately, human beings are greater than the sum of their parts. You can take one person and strip that person to different layers, but guess what! When you put all those layers together, they don't add up to that person. Something's missing.

Maybe we can call this the soul. Perhaps we can call this the essence of that person. Regardless, the truth is that you can't just strip people based on these trends and reassemble them into a complete person. You missed the point. You missed the person.

That's how the stylish hoarders think. That's how they look at the world. They see it as layer after layer of stuff that they can reconfigure, recombine, and slice and dice, mix and match.

If you hang around these people long enough, you become like them. Unfortunately, that kind of thinking falls flat when it comes to reality because, ultimately, people are not like that. We're worth more than the sum of our parts. We're not just thin, superficial layers.

Toxic Personality Type #4: The Troll

Trolls are annoying and you probably know this already. However, the problem is that they're not always obvious. In fact, one of the most common forms of trolling involves flattery.

There are people who think 180 degrees opposite of whatever view or opinion you've stated. They couldn't disagree with you more, but you cannot tell based on their response. It seems like they're supporting you. It might even come off like they are egging you on. However, what they're really doing is trolling you because they don't agree. Whatever opinion you shared doesn't line up with what they actually think and believe.

So why are they doing it then?

For the laughs. They get a (sick I might add) sense of satisfaction in being complete and total liars. But the problem is that trolls eventually reprogram themselves, and that wouldn't be bad had humans not been designed to influence each other mentally and unconsciously. But they have been designed like that, and this is one of the reasons why being around trolls is never recommended.

It's not uncommon for a troll to get such a kick out of getting people to agree with things that they themselves hate because this makes them hate the person or ridicule the person in their minds. Eventually, they get so trapped in their decision that they no longer know what the truth is.

The whole point of their game is just to get a rise or a reaction from people. They're not really invested in whether things are right or wrong, or whether things are proper or unjust and unfair. Instead, it's just the emotional rush that they are getting.

"This person is agreeing with me, he's a complete and total idiot and bigot. I gotcha!" This is how a troll thinks. And they might seem harmless, but who do you think pays the bigger price? The person who is honest with his, or her opinion - as unpopular or unpalatable as it may be, or the one who egged him on?

If you engage in this behavior, you are really trading in your soul, and by soul I'm not talking about some quasi-mystical component of your life. I'm talking about your integrity. You're lying basically. The worst part to all of this is that the lie eventually seeps in and becomes you. It becomes part of you. You reach a point where you don't even know which side is up.

That's how confused trolls are. They become some sort of self-fulfilling prophecy. It all boils down to feeding insecurities because they are very insecure at some level or another. That's why they get a kick out of getting people to say stuff that they hate, or say stuff that they deep down inside want to say but can't. Thanks to their behavior, encouragement and underhanded tactics, they get people to voice out stuff that they wish they could say or stuff that they hate.

And just like with the previous 3 types of people, hanging out with trolls brings out the worst in you, as well. Moreover, you end up being friends to somebody who doesn't appreciate you for who you are. And if you're not careful sooner or later you end up becoming like them.

Hate and How It Destroys

HATE

Hate gobbles up our ability to love and accept love.

Hatred drains us of positive energy.

It also depletes our immune system; leaving us open to illness of the body, the soul, and the mind.

Hate clouds our judgement and erodes our thoughts.

Hatred is reflected in our words, our actions, and our expressions.

Hate steals time; in the past, in the present and in the future; in essence, it shortens our lives.

Hate makes us ugly, inside and out.

Hatred is a leech that latches on and can never get enough of you.

Hate gets bigger and bigger, while your life essence progressively dwindles away.

Hatred blinds us to all that is beautiful, good, positive and wholesome.

Hate robs us of compassion and empathy.

Hate steals our dignity and self-respect.

Hatred prevents us from loving ourselves and loving others.

Hate is a killer, foremost to the host, where hate's strength is dominant.

But, hatred thrives to share itself. It causes the host's deep-seated rancor for life to shoot out tendrils to everyone around the host: probing for entry into anyone primed by weakness - designed to make all prospective hosts as miserable as it has made its primary host.

In so doing, hate does not weaken by planting spores of itself into others, it expands in size and potency.

Hate must be forcibly removed by its host. Removal is painful, because hatred has become such a part of the host - to be almost a unity of two into one.

So how do we rid ourselves of hate? First, we must acknowledge hate's presence within us.

We should then reflect on what it has cultivated in us; weighing the ugly negativity hate has created and infused in our being; and how that hate in us has hurt and damaged not only ourselves, but everyone we interact with.

Willingly, we must choose to rid ourselves of hate, as any person would who - struggling with a life- threatening habit - elect to free themselves of it. Look to the Creator, and ask for His help.

Doing this, liberating ourselves of this deadly toxin, may prove quite difficult; like fighting to kill off a deadly disease. But the win, the success, outweighs the struggle.

And as you have overcome and killed the parasite that is hate; that moment will truly be the first day of the rest of your life.

And, with your "new" feather-light soul, look to the Creator again - and thank Him!

One Idea To Overcome Procrastination

Procrastination was of one my biggest obstacles in life which I could see was sabotaging my success.

I will try to give you the insights and experiences I went through to unlocking procrastination. It's not easy to see, it took a few years for me to figure this out.

I'll work from a mechanical point view by revealing the moving parts in the mind, that when combined, act like an engine thts stuck, full of gunk, blowing out smoke and backfiring.

Let's break it down:

Ambition - Procrastination gets worse the more ambitious you are

The obstacle - If you're procrastinating, I bet it appears big in your mind

Resources - The more money you need, the more the outlook will look bleek

Tools - If you're creative, you my feel that the software is too complicated

Volume - What you're dreaming of may seem like you need a lot of work done

Knowledge - You may be thinking you need to study more

Competition - You may feel like a small fish in a big pond

What chance do you have?

Boom!! Procrastination sets in due to doubt and uncertainty, mostly in yourself.

Doubt sabotages all ambition, doubt is like old oil in the engine block thats turned into sludge and clogging up the pistons. Often we can't see we're doubting ourselves.

Overcoming doubt is where it starts. "Lets figure out how!"

The first obstacle is to understand how the mind works. When the minds starts to piece things together, if the pieces don't fit and they seem far out, the mind will flash the red light that implies:

"How is this going to work, it just seems impossible!" "The work needs to be a professional spec" This leads to thinking, "Things may never work out"

  • Turn Netflix on, nothing to watch
  • Go to Facebook, nothing interesting
  • Watch YouTube, nothing interesting
  • Feeling yuk? "Bye bye energy!"

Sound familiar? (We're all human we all feel this way, even the best of us)

Step 1. Where it starts

We want to stand out, we want to show off, we want to succeed, we want to be the best, we want to be a winner too! But when the path looks to far to go, we're already down in the dumps.

The ancient Romans believed that success cannot be predicted which also means neither can failure be predicted, we suffer more in imagination that in reality, we hate to fail, we hate to look like a failure, we feel we may get laughed at as a failure.

"Learn to LOVE failure!" Failure is your friend!

You cannot succeed unless you fail. Failing is the same as making mistakes. Many mistakes added together become experience. Through expeirence we learn to become the master.

Therefore: Success is NOT in the future, success is today everyday! Even if you procrastinate today, every passing minute is another chance to try.

Understand the process, when something looks bleak:

  1. The mind starts it's negative thinking journey.
  2. Negative thinking leads to doubt
  3. The feeling of doubt saps energy
  4. You fall into fearful thinking mode
  5. Pity sets in

Like a knot in a kites string. All you need to do is lay down the rope, sit in a quiet place, let the mind settle, turn on some soothing music and begin to unravel the knot, unravel clues to your mind.

For me what works best is the great stoic philosophers of Ancient Rome and Greece. On YouTube, look for the RedFrost Motivation Channel," BE UNSHAKEABLE - Ultimate Stoic Quotes Compilation

Sit quietly and listen to those quotes, you'll begin to see how life fits together. What starts to happen?

"New ideas!" "New ways of thinking!"

New ideas are effectively the opposite to doubt. New ideas are exciting, they give you that youthful imagination which tickles the spirit in you! They turn into the these little bubbles of butterflies in the belly!

Want proof?

Do a search on Soundcloud for a song written by "Groove Biscuit" called "Flutter". The lyrics say, "Flutter on the wings of a butterfly", actually reminds me of butterflies in the belly. Listen to it when you start to feel butterflies bubbling in the belly, the song is made to get you going with some good driving energy!

Energetic music only works when your mind starts to turn into positive thinking through fresh ideas! They create hope! They make you feel like you have a chance! Truth is everyday is another chance for you to try!

Become sensitive to your gut feel, notice the cloud lifting in the mind which sparks the gut feel, you may start to feel a sense of excitement! Butterflies start turning into energy, which then turns into more ideas, which then become exciting ideas!

This will then reveal to you:

Whats causing the procrastination, or better put, whats not causing the energy to ignite and get you going and inspire you, you need belief and to feel yourself getting up!

Learn how to unravel it yourself slowly but surely, piece by piece.

Remember, there's no rush, take your time, let it unwind itself. You'll know it's working when you start to feel inspired or when you have a feeling, a sense of weight lifting off your chest!

Now I can quote the Great former Roman Emperor Marcus Aurelius, "Look within. within is the fountain of good, and it will ever bubble up, if thou wilt ever dig."

Step 2. Where it grows

If you have a dream to be successful and you somehow know deep within you that you somewhere, somehow have it in you to be great. Truth is you're right, you do have it in you!

The universe moves slowly, one galactic year takes 225 to 250 million terrestrial years. 25920 terrestrial year for the sun to rotate the zodiac. It's just entered into the age of Aquarius fpr example.

If you closed your eyes for 10 years then opened them, I'm sure you'd agree the world will have changed quite a lot.. If you looked at the earth tomorrow, will you see a difference other than the weather?

Success happens over time, there's no other way unless you win the lottery. Even then many of the lotto winners ended up spending all their money.

In order to be great at something, you need to develop a daily habit. Everyday you have to get up to try, even if it's a little. Believe that even a 5 min YouTube video on a topic you love is enough to start moving forward.

Be satisfied that progress is almost always slow, don't let it bother you that you'll have to wait. Learn to be happy with what you've got. If you didn't have them, you may find you'll miss them.

By being happy with what you have, you won't focus on what you don't have. All that you have came to you in one way or another, so too many more things will come in one way or another, there's no doubt they will come to you.

Success is a journey, a successful journey is a process of discovery! If you've read this article thus far, you're already searching, already discovering things!

Keep going, keep searching. Look for things that lift your spirit, turn OFF the news, negative information will distract you, turn off trivia and wasetful information, look for success, read quotes, watch interviews with Warren Buffett, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos.

If you're a startup founder, watch "Start Up Grind" on YouTube. Many VCs speak there, they explain what they look for in a start up founders.

If you're an artist, writers block is a form of procrastination. Learn to love the quiet, turn off the noise, sit in nature, breathe and relax. Let the mind wonder, all you need is a few moments to capture your breath and your thoughts.

Let your mind unwind and release then give it another go everyday of your life no matter what happens!

Fall in love with the work, let the work itself make you feel good, not the reward.

Why You Should Believe in the Law of Attraction

Manifestation works on the principles of the Law of Attraction (LOA), one of the most powerful, yet one of the least understood laws of nature. If you are skeptical of concepts like the law of attraction and manifestation of desires, you need to go through an experience to be cured of your skepticism. And to have an experience, you need to experiment. This means you have to make an attempt and check whether this law really works.

If you have to experience the power of the law of attraction, you have to believe in this law. A skeptic will never get success by using the LOA because the primary condition for this law to work is the existence of belief. This is why skeptics keep demanding proofs but never get them unless they are going to accept the experiences of other people.

I am a skeptic myself but I believe in the LOA. Am I contradicting myself? No. The reason I like this law is that it creates a lot of positive thinking. Whether this law works or not, people believing in this law begin to believe that good things are going to happen to them. This belief makes them expect good things and feel good about themselves.

Consider the positive energy generated by these beliefs. It has been widely accepted both by clinical and by social psychologists that positive thinking makes people more energetic and enables them to perform better. People who do things expecting a positive outcome will turn out much better performances than those who are pessimistic of the results of their efforts.

When a person believes in the efficacy of the law of attraction and does things with enthusiasm and positive expectation of his dreams manifesting into realities, he becomes an asset to the society because he will be able to contribute much better, working from a state of expectation, faith and confidence.

The flip side of believing in the manifestation miracle is the disappointment and frustration that might result from the failure to get results, But people who believe in the law of attraction generally convince themselves that failures are temporary and that their faith will eventually lead them towards success.

I am not suggesting that rational thinking is bad. Nothing can be more valuable than the ability to think rationally and clearly. But I am only pointing out that ideas like the law of attraction, the belief that one can manifest his desires etc. also have their advantages.

How to Let Go Of Resistance So Your Desires Can Manifest

Do you ever find yourself thinking, "I'm way too emotional about this. I shouldn't want it so much"? Especially if you've been hurt before... burned deeply by a desire that you desired. You wonder if you've set the bar too high, or if you simply want something too much.

Social media marketer Kim Orlando felt this way. She was worried about being too emotional about her success. Had she gone overboard... desiring success too much instead of sailing through a take-it-or-leave-it (non-resistant) attitude? It created a contradiction; making her wonder if she was too attached to what she wanted.

When we have a really strong desire, we often have somewhere within us an exact opposite energy... some kind of fear. It's the nature of duality. Part of us wants this, and part of us wants that. (Or part of us wants this, but not if that will hurt us.)

If we aren't feeling any emotion (good or bad)... if we're feeling indifference... then our desire isn't big enough. So how much desire is too much desire?

This is a favorite game of our Ego. It's a game of cat-and-mouse at its best. If Ego can make us look at impending disaster, then it can summon resistance. It tingles with delight when we start looking at potential problems. This is why we sometimes need discipline to train ourselves to not look at the problems, but to look only at the desired outcome. Yes, there's that word "desire" again!

Kim knew this was her hidden power, to look only at her desired outcome. She knew the easiest way to let go of resistance was to look ONLY at her desires, and we can do the same. So go ahead... let's feel free to sprinkle positive energies all over our desires. In changing our perspective from potential problems to desired outcomes, it changes our vibration and invites success.

Helpful tip: When you're feeling stuck, it's never the situation that has you stuck... it's your energy that's become stuck, by the trigger of negative emotions that can come from past situations or events.

In other words, it isn't the pain of the situation; it's the pain of not being connected in the natural energy of who you really are... of being connected to that magical part of you that's a creative vibrational being who can use positive energies to create what you want and bring it into physical manifestation. Part of this process is to allow your manifestations to materialize, and not get stuck in the negative vibrations that block them.

Creating Positive Energy Out of the Crucible of Anger

Does anger poison your productivity and fuel stress?

When you mis-hear an important message due to a simmering resentment, how long does it take you to restore healthy communication?

All too often, unprocessed anger is a sinkhole for energy and time. Even chronic irritations are mud slicks just waiting to be slipped on. But you can relate to daily setbacks without losing your footing. In fact, I invite you to convert that sludge to vibrant, positive energy.

Creating Positive Energy from Sludgy Anger

What if you reframe your anger today as a useful signal that something needs to change? And then what if you promise yourself that you will grow to meet this important challenge? Keep that promise and you stand in your power.

When you embrace "the anger challenge" to solve underlying problems, you:

Re-access energy formerly mired in resentment.

Lower stress.

Raise contentment.

To enjoy these benefits, let's explore 3 essential tools for dismantling a common anger-based time trap - Blaming others for your lack of time.

Growing Beyond the Blame Game

Maybe nobody even knows you blame others for being short on time. Even if you're doing it silently, inside, it still paralyzes your productivity. And you feel like a victim all the time. Why not try out the following options instead?

1. Proactivity:

When you think, "This person takes too much of my time!" reframe that thought to:

"I give this person too much of my time."

What does it give you to forfeit this time? How would you like to change this equation? Start small to build muscle. Owning your role in your time shortage = owning your power. For maximum power, explore your ability to "change the dance" by changing just your steps. When you don't need anyone to cooperate with you, no one stands in your way.

2. Creativity:

To reframe your mental picture of your time, adopt the following mantra:

"I alone decide how I use my time."

Granted, you can't levitate out of traffic jams or force your way past the receptionist. But with creativity, you truly do determine the quality of your time. So how do you create the quality of your time? Count on creativity as your first resort when proactive negotiations won't alter a stagnant situation. Envision your upcoming day and anticipate logjams. Start brainstorming now so you meet setbacks with ingenuity and self-possession.

3. Relativity:

Many daily annoyances that sap energy and productivity are quite workable when viewed more broadly. Try these questions, to gain additional perspective:

How important will this seem in 5 days? 5 weeks? 5 years?

How might others' perspectives inform your options?

What mindsets create instant time abundance?

If you were your guardian angel, what advice would you give?

Remember, if your day were a treasure map, you'd discover valuable time hidden under your resentments. Dig deep, strike gold and celebrate your newfound time and energy!

When Is It EVER Going To Happen?

There's something that you want. Perhaps you've wanted it for a long time. You want it REALLY badly. But it STILL hasn't shown up and you're asking yourself, "Is it EVER going to happen?!?!"

Author Paris Johnson went exactly through this. She felt anxious, discouraged and frustrated. She felt stuck. After working so long and hard toward her goal of becoming a recognized expert in her field, nothing seemed to manifest. WHY?

Here's the thing. When we're feeling stuck, it's never the situation that has become stuck. It's our energy that's stuck. While we've been putting part of our energy toward manifesting what we want, another part of our energy contradicts the vibration of what we want. We cannot manifest from this place because we aren't a vibrational match to our desire.

This was Paris' frustration. She wanted to make a difference. She wanted to reach the people who needed her influence. But it Just. Wasn't. Happening.

The universe is impersonal. It responds only to our vibration - wherever we focus our energy. If part of us is focused on what we want, and another part is focused on what we don't want, or on what's lacking, we can't manifest what we DO want. It's like a tug of war, with opposing energies pulling at both ends. Our vibration is contradicting itself and nothing can move forward. What we want stays in the unmanifested world of wants.

So what did Paris do? The secret was to focus on raising the frequency of her vibration. The higher her vibration, the more powerfully she was able to manifest her dreams and desires. And you can do the same!

We often ask "When is it EVER going to happen?" But our manifestations don't usually happen on a linear timeline. They usually happen when we align with a higher vibration that allows our manifestation to come TO us.

Behind the scenes: When you're feeling stuck, it isn't the situation that's become stuck... it's your energy that's stuck, from the trigger of negative emotions that can come from past hurts and traumas.

In other words, it isn't the pain of the situation; it's the pain of not being connected to the natural positive energy of who you really are... a creative vibrational being who can use positive energies to create what you want and bring it into the physical. Part of this process is to invite your manifestations to materialize, and not get stuck in the negative vibrations that block them.

Set Your Boundaries: Learn to Say "No" (By Rachana Gupta)

As a child, I was deeply influenced by the story of Cinderella and whenever somebody in the family asked who your favorite is, I would proudly announce her name. I wanted to wear dress like Cinderella and wanted to have fairy as a friend. When somebody asked why I like her so much, I would say because she is beautiful, truthful and kind. She always helps others and does good things to even those who are bad. She never says "No".

As children, we learned that saying no was impolite or inappropriate. We grow up watching movies or family examples where elders talk in front of us that people who say no are bad. Often "kindness" is associated with saying "yes" but in reality these are two different things. According to psychologist Dr Susan Newman, author of "The Book of No" the problem is more in women than men. In the words of Dr. Newman, "Women have been raised to be care givers and nurturers, and which is why the problem is more prevalent for women than men", however in my opinion the problem is not gender specific and it exists both in men and women. For some people this becomes a habit, or even an addiction.

In order to understand this little better let me tell you the reasons that makes a person always say yes-

  1. For Love- It is proven fact that human beings are emotional and we all want love and affection. This is one of the most significant reasons that lead some of us to say yes because we think saying No will draw people apart from us and we will not be loved as much.
  2. Fear of being rejected- We all want to be loved and hate being rejected. The idea of rejection is painful and sometimes just out of doubt, some of us say yes in spite of the fact that we want to say no in our heart.
  3. For showing kindness- We all have seen this in the movies that good people are always kind and giving, and bad people are always unkind. They always say no to everyone. Saying No is often associated with rudeness and hence we choose to be kind instead of being rude.
  4. For uncertainty of future- We often take wrong jobs and stay with people who take us for granted just because we develop a comfort zone around those familiar people and jobs. As humans, we sense danger in the unknown areas and therefore keep giving ourselves false excuses; to stay in those wrong jobs and with wrong people and keep saying yes to the things that make us unhappy.
  5. Cultural pressure- As children we are always taught to be kind and say yes to everyone especially to elders and people in authoritative positions such as teachers. Hence, some of us as adults, find it difficult to say no to older people and to the managers at work place.

The cycle that starts in our childhood keeps going and we are trapped to the extent that we start feeling guilty whenever we say no to people. In most of the cases it's just an over hyped scenario that we build in our minds. In some other cases however, things get weird after people, who are habitual of listening yes from us suddenly start getting no. They start feeling that we have turned arrogant and some even feel betrayed. Sometimes we end up feeling lonely because of the sudden troubles we face in our close relationships. The same thing happens in the workplace where our colleagues and managers don't expect us to say no.
In spite of all these impacts, in my opinion saying no is much better than saying yes for most of the things because of the following reasons-

  1. It gives you the opportunity to be true to yourself- Saying No to things that makes you unhappy saves your time and energy for doing other productive stuffs. It gives you the time to be genuinely involved in the things that you truly enjoy doing.
  2. Good for mental health- There's nothing worse than saying yes for something you don't want to do. From my personal experience, it brings a lot of frustration and unnecessary stress. Saying No without feeling guilty will help you feel relaxed and you can perform your routine with increased focus and positive energy.
  3. It gives you the confidence to demand what you think you deserve- Learning to say No gives boost to your confidence level and helps you to demand for the things you actually deserve, whether it's respect in personal relationships, higher pay or increased responsibilities at work.
  4. It helps you know who your true well wishers are- People who stick to you just for getting favor of some kind will not stay with you once they learn that you are capable of saying No to them. Hence, it's also a good technique to understand who all your real wishers are.

Saying No is very difficult for people who have the habit of saying yes. Some tips derived from my personal experiences to tackle this issue-
  1. Understand that saying no doesn't makes you a bad person- As adults, it is our choice whether to say yes or no for something. Letting go off the childhood preaching and saying no with confidence doesn't makes you a bad person.
  2. Take time before you say yes- Every time someone asks you to do something, don't say yes right away, instead take time (a day or two), and think whether or not you actually want to do it. After contemplating, politely accept or refuse the request.
  3. Remember that your self-worth doesn't depend on what others think of you- Your self-worth is what you recognize and it should not be subject to opinion of others. You don't need to please everyone you know. Realize that you are better than that and certainly worth much more.

It's a good thing to be considerate, helping and generous. A person can be kind and at the same time set his/her boundaries. It's important not to lose ourselves and our self-respect on the way to being compassionate and saying yes. In the words of Paulo Coelho, "When you say yes to others, make sure you are not saying no to yourself" and in the words of Tony Blair "The art of leadership is saying no, not saying yes. It is very easy to say yes".

How To Reprogram Your Mind

Chances are there are various things you would like to change about either yourself or your life. I'm here to tell you change is possible and the results can be incredible when you learn how to reprogram your mind.

We all can think of someone whose life or lifestyle seems to be all in tact. They appear to be so confident and happy. They seem to have everything going for them in both the business world and their personal world. People look at them with eyes of adoration and we sometimes find ourselves saying quietly "I wish I could be more like that person."

The good news is you can be like other successful people. It all starts with taking the steps to reprogram your mind. The very thought of reprogramming may sound like a hard task itself but once you understand the steps to making changes, you will find the process sounds far worst than it actually is.

In order to get the change you want, you must first become aware that change is necessary. Awareness is the first step to reprogramming the mind.

So you finally realize you are unhappy with certain areas of your life and you know for a fact if you don't change something about it, things will remain the same, that is awareness.

Success is a vibration and the right vibration is crucial to reprogram your mind. You've heard that everything is energy before, I'm sure. That's a true statement. Everything has an energy and if you want a certain thing, you will need to match your vibration with the energy of the thing you are seeking.

Exactly what does it require you to do you may be asking. The answer is to work on having more good positive energy than you do negative energy.

We live in a world of attraction. Like attracts like, remember? If it is your desire to attract more good into your life, then you must make it a point to experience more good feelings or vibrations on a daily basis.

A simple exercise to experience good emotions is to recall a time in your life when you really felt good about you or something you accomplished and were just absolutely proud of yourself.

Do you remember what it felt like, how confident, smart or even bold you felt at that time?

Now those are the feelings you will want to remind yourself of daily. Preferably the first thing in the mornings before you start your day, as well as throughout the day. By doing this you'll be putting your mind and body in the right vibrational state to attract more good unto you.

Another step is called Acknowledge. Here you will think about everything you like about you. All the things you are good at, as well as the things others say you are good at doing or being.

Next, make a list of the top ten or twelve of those characteristics then close your eyes and think about how those attributes make you feel. Really feel the good energy in your body for at least 5 minutes.

Each day think about the person you want to become by visualizing it in your mind as if it has already happened. Feel the emotions of what it would feel like to be the person or have the thing you want. Feel it in every cell of your being!

Each time you do this you are reprogramming your mind with the vibrations to make it a reality. When you repeat these steps for at least a good ninety days, you should start noticing some good results.

First, you become aware, then acknowledge, and your daily visualization with strong emotions and good feelings are the exact steps to take to reprogram your mind to become the person, have the things you are wanting, by matching its energy to make it a reality.

The Priority Within You (By Joshua Clayton)

Man Standing in the Middle of Empty Road

We must work on ourselves consistently and constantly. With that said. Let me tell you something: This morning, I was going through a personal crisis of feeling and reality. The feeling was that life seems not to be worth it, and the reality is that it is worth it in every way. Reconciling the feeling and reality was hard, but I did it. I did it walking up to this library I am writing this article in. Here is how:

As we get unconsciously and carelessly sad in our clothes, we all have the same clothes to change our feelings and get consciously glad in that we are alive and well, and working. We have to find the reasons within ourselves deeply and consciously to "keep it going" realistically, yet honestly. Situations may seem daunting, but it is as simple as filling our glass instead of draining it usually and then giving a conscious blessing to the glass full of liquid to quench our thirst. We all must replace empty negative energy with positive energy to get us going for real, and we must charge ourselves before we use ourselves also, for if you are coasting you will eventually stop, that is reality.

We must have sense about ourselves in existence. We must not be temporary, we must be permanent if we really want to "do it". That means, we must realistically plan, project and operate right or get disappointed at some level.

The genuine appointment is our responsibility and solely our responsibility and call anyway. Reality to be conquered, must be totally obeyed in every way that counts is what I am saying. Patience is not just a virtue, but the most genuine of necessities, especially during your down times or the down times in your life and existence. If everything is ebbing or down, get ebullient and see how you can genuinely improve, and you can go up from there. The priority within you is to succeed genuinely, that is the priority, nothing else matters.

Sure, I could say more in that paragraph, realistically. What would be the point, though except a tangent. If you want to blaze a trail of come back, you must blaze it yourself is what I am saying and every step must appeal genuinely to your inner logic, genuinely, or it cannot work. You must have that conviction for it to fully work. Without that conviction, the steps are empty and not climbed yet really.

I know, some of this is depressingly practical advice, but where else can you start. After all, every plant grows from the dirt and seed on up or in hydroponics, the bottom water tank and seed on up. It cannot work any other way unless you have God like powers to do that. My Dad Joseph used to say "Scientist, if you can create miracles genuinely, create me some dirt!" I understand what he was saying with that seemingly silly statement now: I would like to mention the eleventh, twelfth and thirteenth unwritten commandments of Moses the Prophet in my Bible of nature which are, which I think about often, and mention here:

Commandment #11: You shall not get away with it.

Commandment #12: You will really understand.

Commandment #13: You cannot win against the genuine law if you try to win against it, however logical you seem.

And I end with the final Commandment of Jesus Christ: Love one another as I have loved you or Do unto others as I would do unto you. Personally, I think it all comes down to one final thing: Be real.

Control the Mind

Woman Wearing Yellow Button-up Long-sleeved Dress Shirt

Your mind is not designed to get results. It is just neutral energy which works in the direction that you want it to.

For example, if you channelize positive energy your mind makes everything else work and when you lose control of your thoughts, it blocks your progress.

It is interesting to note that positive thinking needs efforts; however, negative thinking comes in uninvited and spoils the hygiene of your mind. Both positive and negative thoughts try to beat each other on a daily basis, and the winner determines your state-of-being in this world.

Thoughts determine actions and therefore it is vital to know what is controlling the mind. In most cases, it is negative thoughts.

A negative mind makes you feel like a victim of life. It fills you with fear, anger, and jealousy making you a bitter person. You will think life people as unfair and become rude or diffident. You make the subconscious mind work in the reverse order and fill your mind like 'I can't do it,' or 'I don't like my job,' or 'no one loves me,'and eventually, you make life look difficult and challenging.

On the other hand, the positive mind is always seeking success. It is ready for self-improvement. It believes in creating a world of possibilities for self and others.

It is filled with trust, happiness, and understanding. The mind is full of positive thoughts like, 'I choose to 'succeed,' / I trust people / they will support me,' or 'I will make my dreams come true.'

The right way of thinking invariably keeps you focused and fills your life with joy and results.

Take stock of your life right now! Be truthful to yourself and find out what controls your mind - the positive or the negative thinking?

If the answer is negative then it's time for action. Catch yourself being negative and enforce a corrective action for every thought and every word that you utter. It is as simple as that!

It is said that you become the average of the five people you hang around with, so avoid the company of winner and cynics and choose to be powerful, successful and happy people.

Your actions today will be determined what you will become tomorrow, so act positively. Stay focused on your goals work with passion and commitment to make them a reality. Expect challenge along the path and face them a with confidence. Do not get bogged down by temporary setbacks. Take responsibilities for what happens to you, no excuses, no blaming others for your failures. Keep fighting failure until you achieve success. Keep fighting negative thinking up till you convert it to positive! The game is on, are you ready?

You Are In Safe Hands (By Hifzur Rehman)

Photo of Teddy Bears Sitting on Wood

"Don't worry, you are in safe hands". These were the words of a Swiss doctor which gave me a new hope to survive and thanks God, I survived a massive heart attack.

It was a sunny day of February 2003 when I was sitting in my office in Geneva and doing the work as usual. Suddenly I felt something wrong in my body. Before I could analyse what was wrong, I suffered a severe heart attack. An ambulance arrived in no time which took me to the hospital. While on the way to the hospital my condition started worsening due to short of breath and severe pain in my chest. This was the time when the doctor's kind words "don't worry, you are in safe hands" touched my soul, and gave me a great relief by assuring me that I was in safe hands. Now after 15 years I still feel the magical effect of those words on my body. Whenever I have to go to the hospital to see some ailing relative or friend, I say to the patient "don't worry, you will recover soon" and the patient starts feeling better. Every patient needs a positive energy to fight the disease and this energy comes through kind words which he/she listens from others.

Any bad event in your life can be dangerous. But if someone says to you "don't worry, you are in safe hands" then you get a new energy to fight the evil forces. Kind words are always helpful. Please be kind to anyone who is in some kind of physical or psychological pain. Say some loving words, caring words and encouraging words so that he/she comes out of the ugly situation.

Be careful in using words. Your words can give someone a new life or even take his/her life. Always use kind, sympathetic and helpful words. Always be ready to help someone in one way or the other. Life is beautiful. Make it more beautiful and charming by using nice words for others.

You can make a difference in the lives of other people just by using proper words for a specific situation. Use the power of words to motive them, heal them, encourage them, guide them and to help them succeed in life. Also make people happy by passing decent jokes and loving remarks.

In any difficult situation, let your near and dear ones know that you are at their side willing to help them. If you are far away then send them messages of sympathy, love, encouragement and prayers.

If You Want to Get Ahead in Life

Your enthusiasm, passion and positive energy is what people feel. It's what makes people want to be around you, work with you on any level, and even help you with your goals.

Getting ahead in life is truly an inside job, no pun intended. You have to feel real passion and excitement about whatever it is that you are doing. It is your innate passion that makes time fly by while you exceed even your own expectations, as well as the expectations of those you serve.

Creating something from scratch, in the now moment, can build into a mega-empire. It's not about the future, it's about NOW, and you need to be in love with what you are doing now. If you're not, it's time to move in the direction that ignites you.

Always be trustworthy. Give more than people expect to receive. Treat your client or customer like royalty. If there is ever a glitch, go above and beyond to satisfy them.

NEVER engage in anything illegal or anything that is not one hundred percent ethical. It's just not worth it and would only come back at a later time as karma that you would not want. Honesty is essential. It's okay to say that you are not sure about something, but you can do your best to find out if someone needs certain information.

Be a cheerleader for others! Forget "competition" and move into a much higher energy of positive service for the highest good of all. Competition is fear based. When you are soaring from within you won't have time to contemplate fear because you'll be too busy doing what you love!

Sometimes our careers take new paths as technology creates things we never dreamed of before. Utilize the new technology ethically to promote and share what you are doing. Embrace the new because it's what we are working with now and what was in the past is staying in the past. Have an attitude of acceptance about the new, it will help you far more than being disgruntled resisting it because the good old days are behind you. Make that okay within your mind.

Getting ahead in life is much more of an experience that you love than an external condition that you couldn't care less about. Make sure you go with your heart. People truly feel your energy online. They get a vibe about you. If you're negative, they are going to click off of you and move forward to something that resonates within them on an energy level. Guess what happens? They find a site, or a name, click on that, feel vibrant, glowing, loving positive energy and they become part of your life.

Always keep it positive, sincere, honest, reliable, trustworthy and stay away from everything and everyone who is negative. Give each aspect of your work your all from your heart and you will find that one day you will look back and realize that you really did get ahead after all.

The Importance of Consistency

As careful as we plan and would like to plan the steps that lead to a bountiful life, there still exist the opportunities for missteps. To move forward requires drive and focus, but if drive and focus is pointed in the wrong direction you will find yourself spinning your wheels and continuing to do the things that keep you trapped. There is no doubt drive and focus is keen. Let's not leave out consistency. In order to develop excellence you will have to be consistent in your approach and technique. The more you do something (If you are doing it with emphasis of doing it better every time) the better you get at it. You develop excellence, but consistency is what you got you there. Consistency allows you to move forward. It fuels you with positive energy. I've yet to see a winner that doesn't display positive energy. I have yet to meet a winner that does not want repeat that accomplishment. It is important that you understand life changes from day to day nothing stays the same. Today will soon be like yesterday, it will be the past. So improving everyday is important and it takes consistency for that to happen.

When you consistently work to improve every facet of your physical and spiritual life, you become what you are. There will be times when you feel you just don't have the energy or can't fix the problem, that's when you need to rely on consistency. You will never have magic words or will something to be better. But you can rely on what you can do about the issue. Applying the right direction, drive, focus and consistency to the issue allows you to master the situation. Mastering the situation allows you to plan and navigate through life. If you consistently make the same mistake over and over again, some will say that hinges on insanity. I say that you just need to follow a direction that will benefit from the energy and consistency that you applied when repeating the mistakes. When you actually start to experience the benefits of your efforts you develop a different perspective. I personally appreciate a person that will at least make an effort to make life better it only helps the rest of us. Circumstances are what they are. Some of the world's deepest problems are some of its oldest problems. To me that's odd since we all understand that life only advances and to become stagnate and not continue to grow only creates decay and how decay can dictate life is still a question that needs to be answered. I know my last statement may not be proper grammar but it emphasizes my point.

You can't change what is, but you can decide what you will do about it. Excellence is a habit may be cliché but is very real. When you follow your heart and your conscious, combined with common sense, you will come out ahead. Doing it consistently will strengthen your conviction, and sharpens your reasoning. Contrary to what some believe doing the right thing is not weakness its strength. The more you do it the better you get at it. You develop excellence. You can't change what is going to happen but can steer it in direction that allows you to master the problem. Steadfastness is the substance of consistency. Steadfastness allows you an opportunity to develop a strategy that will conquer the issue and a plan of action to move you past it. If you stay diligent in your pursuit of a better life and understand that your task needs consistent effort, tenacity and focus you will see the improvements and understand that your consistency has everything to do with.

How to Use Your Inner Voice to Reach Your Goals

I recently wrote about pain and how beneficial pain is to your success. In that article, I mentioned that we all make decisions based on one of two driving forces, avoiding pain or pursuing pleasure. As most of us can relate to, pain from doing something we don't want to do is far more intense at the time of the action than the joy we get for taking the action. That is why so many people don't do the things it takes to have success. The unfortunate truth is, the fact that people avoid pain actually creates pain. Stagnation is painful. We all have dreams and desires and must find a way to move forward to live a happy and fulfilling life.

Fear is our minds trying to protect us from pain. Letting fear stop you is making the choice to avoid pain, instead of the choice to pursue pleasure. Without this understanding it is easy to fall victim, but now that you understand what is going on psychologically, lets discuss some strategies to break through that fear so we can start making decisions that benefit us.

One strategy to break through fear is to start focusing on your inner voice. This is the voice in your head that is constantly talking. It is hardly ever quiet, and it loves to give you advice. Some of you are saying, "What inner voice? I don't have an inner voice!" That is your inner voice.

This is your subconscious mind speaking to your conscious mind. Think of your subconscious mind as a giant file cabinet. It is filled with files from experiences in your life or with files from things you use to condition it. For example, remember the first time you had a crush on a boy or a girl in your class? Maybe you built up the nerve to talk to them and they rejected you. As you got older and had opportunities to speak to others you got nervous. That fear is created by your mind to prevent that negative feeling you have had in your past. Different negative events have happened to all of us that shape our decision making as we get older. Another example is, a song that you love that makes you think about a specific time in your life or a specific person. That could be a positive or a negative feeling. The point is, those experiences created files that your subconscious mind relies on the rest of your life. If you are about to do something that you consider scary, your subconscious mind will likely start talking to you and giving you reasons to not move forward. That negative advice coming from your subconscious is what we are trying to control.

I believe that if you are willing to take responsibility for what your subconscious tells your conscious mind, you will have ultimate power. You see, most people do not understand the difference between subconscious and conscious thinking and they are not aware of the awesome power the subconscious has. It literally can make you successful if you work at conditioning it in the right way. Taking responsibility for this is not easy. It is hard work, and being honest with yourself can be painful. Here are five ways to start to condition your subconscious so you can control that inner voice.

Celebrate Fear: As long as you are in a safe place, I suggest you celebrate the fear that you are feeling each time you feel it. Shout out loud, "YES!!!" and say something like "I LOVE THIS FEELING" "I LOVE FEAR" By doing this each time you feel it, you will start to condition your mind that fear is positive, (which it is). You can work on conditioning your mind to understand that fear is only there to protect you and that in most cases, you can safely move forward with your task. The more you do this, the more the positive messages your subconscious will give your conscious when you are faced with fear. I know this sounds a little crazy, and it does take time and effort, but this is one way that I know works.

Exercise: I know this sounds crazy too, but when you exercise and push your body, your inner voice will tell you to stop. You feel pain, and you can stop feeling pain by simply stopping the activity you are doing, running for example. If you can hear the voice tell you to stop, but continue pushing, you will start to quiet that voice when you have challenges in other areas of your life. So am I really telling you to exercise and push your body until your inner voice says to stop? Yes, I am. Again, this is hard, and it hurts, and it is great for you to do. It is just one more way to accomplish what we are talking about.

Meditate: This one is much less painful but can be just as challenging. This is taking 20 minutes a day to yourself, and I know how hard that can be. Meditating helps quiet the normally loud and obnoxious subconscious mind. The best ideas in business will come to you when you meditate, because you create space in your mind. It is also positive energy and thoughts going into your subconscious mind, which is what we need to condition it. If we can fill the file cabinet with positive files, that is what we will use when we make decisions. I have found this to be challenging because my mind goes 100 mph. I have had the best results from putting on head phones and sitting on a comfortable chair with a guided meditation. You can find these for free on YouTube or through podcasts. You can also pay a little to get great guided meditations.

Affirmations: This is hands down my favorite, and no matter what strategies you decide to use to help you with your inner voice, I feel strongly that this should be incorporated into your plan. There are several ways to use affirmations to help, but the best way I have found is to simply write down what you want to accomplish, maybe a goal, and then repeat it out loud to yourself each morning and night. Using a mirror and saying it with conviction increases the results. By repeating this over and over, your subconscious mind will start to believe in it and will start to work on making it a reality. It is crazy the power you have over your life with this simple technique. You can literally have anything you want by convincing your subconscious mind that you have it or deserve to have it. Once your sub-conscious mind is convinced it will pull the correct files to give your conscious mind when the time comes. The correct files will push right through your fears. This too sounds crazy, but trust me, it flat works!

Self Development: This is the easiest of all of them to do, so it too should be incorporated into your plan. This is simply listening to educational, self-help, and self-development material instead of the radio in your car. This is nothing new. I am pretty sure that every mentor I have had has said the same thing. It is so easy to do, and you will be filling your mind with knowledge, hope, and inspiration. That is what you need for the inner voice to tell you to move forward instead of telling you to stop when you are faced with a challenge.

There are several other ways to bust through fears that I will write about, but controlling your inner voice is a great place to start.
