Charles F. Haanel's Three Phases of Consciousness From Mental Chemistry

We easily recognize three phases of consciousness, between each of which there are enormous differences.

Simple consciousness, which all animals possess in common. It is the sense of existence by which we recognize that "we are," and "that we are where we are," and by which we perceive the various objects and varied scenes and conditions.

Self consciousness, possessed by all mankind, except infants and the mentally deficient. This gives us the power of self-contemplation, i.e., the effect of the world without upon our world within. "Self contemplates self." Amongst many other results, language has thus come into existence, each word being a symbol for a thought or an idea.

Cosmic consciousness, this form of consciousness is as much above self-consciousness as self-consciousness is above simple consciousness. It is as different from either as sight is different from hearing or touch. A blind man can get no true notion of color, however keen his hearing or sensitive his touch.

Neither by simple consciousness nor by self consciousness can one get any notion of cosmic consciousness. It is not like either of them any more than sight is like hearing. A deaf man can never learn of the value of music by means of his senses of sight or of touch.

Cosmic consciousness is all forms of consciousness. It overrides time and space, for apart from the body and the world of matter, these do not exist.

The immutable law of consciousness is that in the degree that the consciousness is developed, so is the development of power in the subjective and its consequent manifestation in the objective.

Cosmic consciousness is the result of the creation of the necessary conditions, so that the Universal Mind may function in the direction desired. All vibrations in harmony with the Ego's well-being are caught and used.

When the truth is directly apprehended, or becomes a part of consciousness, without the usual process of reasoning or observation, it is intuition. By intuition, the mind instantly perceives the agreement or the disagreement between two ideas. The Ego always so recognizes truth.

By intuition the mind transforms knowledge into wisdom, experience into success, and takes into the world within the things that have been waiting for us in the world without. Intuition, then, is another phase of the Universal Mind that presents truth as facts of consciousness.

Using Symbols and Body Awareness to Expand Your Intuition

As someone who has always been very right brain/intuitive oriented, I often find myself amazed and impressed with left brain/linear people like accountants, architects and scientists. Yet, these same folks often exclaim with gratitude, praise and wonder at the psychic readings that I do. What is easy for one person may be hard for another and vice-a versa. The truly balanced person has a gift for using both the right/intuitive brain and the left linear logical brain in unison to solve problems and function fully. When we learn to access our innate abilities and apply these skills to daily living we feel more in tune to the deepest part of our being and can then follow our own unique path in life.

How do we get more in touch with both our intuitive essence and our logical nature? Understanding symbols can be an exciting tool for integrating both the left and right brain. We must first understand that intuition is conveyed through feelings in the present moment while logical processing is linked to thoughts and ideas that have been sorted and stored in our brains. When these two elements are joined there can be inspiring thoughts. "The Dream Book" by Betty Bethards is a wonderful example of this interplay between emotion and thought. Symbols are used to unlock the meaning behind the dream story. For example Betty suggests the image of a bridge can mean "A transition, leaving the old and entering the new... "

Now, depending upon how we feel when contemplating leaving the old and entering the new, this image will have either a positive or negative effect on us. Our brain may send a message to retreat or shut down if we have had little success with change. However, if we have skillfully navigated past challenges and losses, then we may be emotionally ready and excited to venture forth and discover new terrain. Our bodies are the link between the emotions and the thoughts that are happening simultaneously in both hemispheres of the brain.

When we listen to the wisdom of our hearts and minds through our bodies we access our deepest knowing. By closing our eyes and tuning in to our physical form, we can become aware of a feeling of tightness or constriction or expansion and openness. With deeper listening, we can ask our higher self to gift us with a symbol or image to help us in making a decision. A dream book can assist us in interpreting the symbols that arise. Simply picture a blank screen in your mind's eye and allow a picture to emerge on it. Our intuition and logic together convey to our body our inner wisdom. Learning to take note of how our body feels in any moment and using symbols can be a very useful tool in learning to decipher your own special journey and path in life.

Trusting Without Reservation

Almost all of us believe we are worthy of trust. But, trust is a fragile illusion that is easily broken. When you learn not to trust, you cannot feel betrayed. Trust is a choice, a belief. It is a verb and a noun. Trust is imaginary. Trust exists only in our minds. Take another look at the short list of "trustworthy" people and professions I suggested in the beginning of this piece.

Trust no one, but have the love for everyone. You can love them with all of your heart, but do not trust them. You and only you know your own heart. Trust only your own intuition. You will make mistakes, but you will not feel betrayed. Someone here please tell me I'm wrong! Better yet, show me where I'm wrong. Even better yet... prove it!

I have seen people close their hearts after, because they had been hurt, and this is not a wise thing to do, and this was done out of fear of being hurt again. People do not understand the Power they have. Life and Death flow from the tongue. Many folks are very sensitive and their Trust is broken they feel betrayed, if your Trust is broken by someone it is their failure to understand karma, it is not your fault for being too Trusting. Love is not a weakness, and neither is Karma.

Image result for the importance of trust in a relationshipwww.askideas.com Trusting someone means that you think they are reliable, you have confidence in them and you feel safe with them physically and emotionally. Trust and love go hand in hand in a relationship.

Trust should always be mutual in a relationship. It's very important to trust your partner and to be trusted in return. In fact, trust is what keeps a relationship away from complications. In spite of differences and arguments, trust assures you that your partner loves you.

Love makes you feel special, but it's trusting that keeps you strong. Trust keeps insecurities at bay. When you trust each other, you know that you can fight all problems. You feel safe and invincible being with your partner.

When you trust a person, you don't need to explain everything you do. On the flip side, when there is no trust, you can see the relationship getting into trouble. Trust helps you avoid being selfish in a relationship. When you trust someone, you allow them to have their personal time and space, and most importantly, a life apart from you. And, the best thing is that you don't feel worried and insecure because of it.

In a relationship, there can be many obstacles. At times, when we even tend to fall out of love for silly reasons, trust ensures we get back and love again. Unless you trust someone, you'll not be able to let go of hurt and feel the same as before. There are times you want to give up and walk away, but since you trust the person you love, you will feel like starting over in spite of the problems. Trusting a person takes time.

It is incredibly frustrating and causes unnecessary drama. So, knock down those walls and learn to let people in. They aren't so bad. Honesty is the best policy, right?

We engage ourselves in meaningful relationships that we value. Trust precedes love. We think that love can save us from emotional roller coasters. It is the glue to every gap and difference.

5 Tips For Building Inner Confidence (By Helen Leathers)

"The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation, and go to the grave with the song still in them."

Henry David Thoreau

This quote makes me sad. Mostly because I think it is probably true. The mass of men - and women - go to their grave with the song still in them. I want to inspire people to stand up and sing their song!

Why don't most people sing their song? Why do they lead lives of quiet desperation?

Is It Because They Lack Confidence To Do It?

There are loads of ways you can pretend to have confidence - to fake it 'til you make it! There are workarounds that might give you a bit of a boost - wearing those heels, or a particular outfit perhaps. But what if you could develop complete inner confidence so that you could shine regardless of where you were, what you wore, or who you were with?

How do you develop confidence like that? Well, here are my 5 tips that have worked for me

5 Tips For Developing Awesome Confidence

  1. Know Your 'Why'. What is your vision, your mission or your purpose? If you have ever had an absolute mission you will know how focussed and unstoppable you can be. If you have never experienced this, think about the vision that Oprah Winfrey, Richard Branson, Angeline Jolie, even Madonna (I love her, but some people don't) have. They know exactly what they want from life, what their mission is, what song they must sing - And they damn well sing it, don't they? Finding your purpose is massive. Having a vision for how you want your future to look, why you are doing what you are doing, who you would like to help or inspire are all reasons 'Why'. What is yours?
  2. Follow Your Intuition. I know, I talk about this a lot, and there are many reasons why that is. When you trust in your intuition, you just know that the right people, places and things will appear, as if by magic. Ladies, when we work with our intuition we stand in our power - we engage with one of our feminine superpowers! And it is amazing. We can feel guided, lucky, safe, on track, and ultimately confident.
  3. Breathe! Take a breath before you walk into a room. Breathe deeply before you have to stand up and speak. Breathe from your belly - that means not holding your stomach in by the way - allowing your lungs to fill properly. Breathing is especially important if you have to present, or even just do a 60 second pitch at a business event. If you know how to breathe correctly - allowing your stomach muscles to relax on the in breathe, and then using them to help actively expel the air as you speak and exhale, you will also sound more confident and be able to project your voice further. Your voice will sound more full and rounded rather than wispy or quiet.
  4. Energy. You need enough energy to keep yourself full of life and vigour, this is really practical and also a bit more esoteric. This is a vast subject but think about enough sleep, good exercise and fresh air (get those happy hormones flooding your bloodstream), great nutrition, quiet time, and what ever else you need to ensure you are at your optimum. But also understand how to ground your energy to help with confidence in the moment. It can be as simple as planting your feet firmly and evenly distributing your weight rather than standing (wobbling) on one leg - especially if you're in heels ladies! Bend your knees slightly and just imagine roots coming out of the soles of your feet. This sinks your energy in to your lower body and helps you to be present in the room. Excellent just before speaking or, if you feel a little overwhelmed go in to the toilets and do it before going back to the event!
  5. Posture. Posture can have two different meanings here. The way you stand physically, and your approach or attitude. When you believe in what you are doing (see point no. 1) and you have the right energy, and trust your intuition, you will have a positive approach and attitude, and people can sense that. In terms of physical posture, stand tall, ground your energy (see above), shoulders back, engage your core (that's your stomach muscles if you're not sure) and lift your head (as though someone is pulling a strand of your hair from the top of your scalp so that you extend your neck, keeping your chin level with the floor). When you stand tall and confident, it is almost impossible to feel un-confident. And if you start to slip into that feeling I can almost guarantee that your posture has slipped. Think of old TV clips of soldiers on parade
Each of these will give you a confidence boost, but used consistently over time, and combined together you will find such inner strength that you will feel confident in almost every situation.

Please don't lead your life in quiet desperation, please discover what song you are supposed to be singing and start to share it with the world. Even if it is just with those closest to you. Don't go to your grave with your song still inside.

Take Back the Power Of Choice and Live Life a Life of Fulfillment

Choices are there for all of us to make. Life has a way of steering us towards a direction that perhaps we don't want to go in. So where does the power of choice come into our mind, heart and soul?

Intuition remains intrinsically woven with our desires, life path and the choice we have at every second of every day to make. The best decisions come from a place of knowing thyself.

The journey of intuition begins with the connection we have to ourselves along with the choices that are made. To pursue intuition is a choice based on the need of opening the mind to greater self- awareness.

The choices we make result in a conscious decision to alter life circumstances. The results are made from the freedom to choose how we react, live and interact within the world. Knowing we have a choice will lead to greater joy and happiness. Remaining asleep, unconscious of the ability to evolve our way of being will keep us enslaved to current limitations.

Life has a wonderful way of honoring choices by manifesting the circumstances that will reinforce what we believe to be true. If we believe deep down that our life is to be a continual burden of work, financial stress and limited joy then it will be. Alter this core belief to be in line with how you want to feel, and the perception of the world and circumstances will transform with you.

Developing intuition will unleash the core beliefs, pushing the boundaries of free thinking with limited vision. Emotions, physical symptoms, thoughts and dreams can reveal the pain of past hurts. Do not let this awareness stop you from continuing with development.

There will be a logical processing of regret for past actions undertaken by you and others. Everyone has a regret of some degree, but do not hold onto this, let it go. Clear the burden of what should have been and focus on all the freedom that is with you now.

Ego will lead us to think that we have no choice, our life is locked in by responsibilities. The simple truth is, we all have the ability to choose how we think, feel and act. We have a choice to give up, be unhappy and never do anything different or we can ask for help, seek guidance and free the mind from its prison.

Tips for Making Choices

• The deeper the connection to ourselves the more conscious our ability to choose

• Core beliefs create life circumstances

• Choices we make result in a conscious decision to alter current positioning

How To Love And Nurture Your Neglected Self

Opportunities To Love And Nurture Our Neglected Self

What is the relationship you have with yourself? Are you aware of your inner dialogue related with your self-worth? How do you treat yourself when you're angry, fearful or sad? How we relate to ourselves during our darkest moments shows what type of relationship we with ourselves. Everyone experiences positive emotions when things are going right, but what about when life isn't going according to plan? These are opportunities to love and nurture our neglected self because the disowned self is the one we must come home to. What do I mean by coming home to ourselves? It means creating a place to honour our emotions, especially the difficult ones which call for our attention.

Many people run away from their negative emotions, and I used to be one of them. Besides, who wants to experience negative states regularly? We want to feel alive and happy and negative emotions don't fit into that plan. Or do they? Negative emotions serve a purpose and we mustn't run away from them but deal with them with openness and compassion. Because they are important messengers and running away delays our emotional well-being. Think about the negative emotions you experience from time to time? How do you process them? Do you journal how you feel and notice what they're trying to tell you?

Consider the following scenario as an example of why we must love and nurture our neglected self. Your boss constantly criticises you on your work performance, and you feel a sense of: sadness, frustration and anger. Over time, you bottle these emotions because they remind you of the disparaging comments from your boss. But what if there's an underlying message contained within these emotions? Perhaps by connecting with them on a deeper level, you learn not to take the criticism personally but improve respective areas of your work thus leading to a promotion.

Make Room For Negative Emotions

Emotions are transitory events that come and go from our nervous system, hundreds of times a day. Most people are not mindful of them because there's so much going on inside their heads. That is why we should listen to what is taking place beneath the surface of our lives, otherwise we will succumb to the negative emotions like a tsunami. Connecting with our emotional life means checking in with ourselves to see how we're doing. It means stopping, feeling and listening to what the emotions are trying to convey. A practice I undertake when anger, frustration or fear emerges is to stop what I'm doing and place my hands on my heart to observe my emotions. I sit and feel them, no matter how difficult or uncomfortable they are. I know these emotions will pass, and my job is to connect with them through an embodied experience.

An embodied experience means to somatically perceive through our nervous system, the emotion/s without deferring them. Many people distract themselves via: drinking, drugs, food, shopping, etc. when negative emotions surface. But eventually the emotion will seep through and grab our attention, when we least expect it. Our emotions are our soul's calling card. They don't have an agenda other than to communicate the essence of our true selves. They help us to make sense of life, so we can live in congruency with our authentic self. For example, if you're not receiving adequate love and affection from your partner, your emotions will tell you something isn't right. Some people try to rationalise it by telling themselves their partner is busy at work or has a lot on their plate. But our emotions don't lie because they are the foundation of our intuition, if we care to listen. Perhaps we're afraid to tell our partner we need more intimacy in the relationship? We might fear putting our demands on them will make them think we're being demanding and so we hold back.

Have you experienced something like this before? It might start out as a gut feeling that grows and turns into confrontation because you haven't communicated yourself properly. Therefore, we must love and nurture our neglected self because it is the part of us we need to come home to. The neglected self is the comfortable sofa we lay our weary body after a long day at work. It is the comfy pyjamas we wear on a cold winter's day. But like all emotions, we must also make room for negative emotions and process them with openness. The key is to be with your emotions and feel them in your body. Simply, stop what you're doing, and breathe into that area until the emotion dissolves or transforms.

I did this exercise recently after experiencing anger and tension from a busy day that didn't go as planned. I was sitting down late one evening, looking forward to reading, and was repeatedly interrupted, which led to anger and stress. I remember a thought entering my mind that said: "I don't have time for this right now." In the next moment, I dropped what I was doing and breathed deeply for three or four minutes, whilst moving my awareness to my chest where the anger was situated. What took place moments later was the most exquisite love I have experienced. Its presence was reassuring and comforting and I didn't want to return to what I was doing. I've since experienced many more moments like this because what I learned is that on the other side of our negative emotions is a pure and abiding love that beckons us to come home to. It is this love we must nurture often, instead of neglecting coming home to our true self.

The Magical Life

You have got to believe in something inside and outside of yourself, I realize that, for life to mean anything. But, here is the catch to that simple sentence: You have got to think for yourself about what you believe in, you have got to know for yourself if it works or not. The responsibility to lead yourself in where you go falls on you as it falls on me. Sure, I could write in a less blunt way about this subject. Indeed, though, I would genuinely feel I am doing you wrong and creating bad cause and effect for myself (Bad Karma). So, I am going to endeavor here to tell the honest truth, and create good cause and effect for myself (Good Karma).

When we look at things with a different and more conscientious consciousness and genuinely think for ourselves, everything becomes easy not to take for granted, even a normal church day on Sunday becomes wonderfully magical where God or Intuition speaks through normal situations that take on a whole new meaning, right down to prayer and affirmations of faith and belief. So, I will skip to this look for the magical in all things normal and strange, and magic there will be, right down to simply and consciously enjoying a normal day in genuine ways that does not take things for granted. To lift a line from singer Paul Simon, medicine is magical and magical is art, and I genuinely believe magic can be found anywhere, everywhere and all the time if we just genuinely perceive it, act on it, affirm it and appreciate it.

When I think about all of the above, I cannot take a thing for granted, not even my relationship with my Mom. Although things do get a little contentious between us at times seemingly with small arguments and little disagreements. They blow over, and I love her very much and all and I genuinely respect her and listen to her. In fact her advice is the greatest magical medicine for me, because she gives me a better slant on things I otherwise would not have.

Beyond that, I genuinely take nothing for granted though, not even "given realities". I truly know what it means when it is said in the Christian King James version of the Bible, The Book of Matthew, Matthew Chapter thirteen, Verse twelve For whosoever has, to him shall be given, and he shall have more abundance: but whosoever has not, from him shall be taken away even that he has. Sure, I edited that saying a bit. Indeed, though, you get that picture. It could say: To those who take things for granted without genuine appreciation that which they have will genuinely leave or be taken away, to those who do not take things for granted with genuine appreciation, they will genuinely get better and more. I reversed the order of the verse too, because of something I believe fully about life. If we do not get "it", we never get "it" until we get "it". If we do genuinely get it, we can grow genuinely.

I spelled out a lot here, some will get it, some will not. But, all I know is that the value is there, and I do not take what I write for granted. With that reality humbly and consciously given, I can say what I mean and mean what I say.

Intuition and the Skill of Interpretation

The skill of intuition is not really in the receiving. That part is easy Just close your eyes, take a few slow and deep breaths and draw your attention inwards. In that moment you will probably find that you are aware of something that you hadn't noticed before, even if it is only the sound of the beating of your own heart. When we drop inwards or tune-in, there is nothing we have to do in that moment to make the information "appear". The information is always there, just as the beating of your heart is always there (even when you are not thinking about it).

It is naturally easier to be aware of previously un-noticed information, or new information, if we draw attention away from what ordinarily captures our senses. This is partly why meditation and closing the eyes works so well for triggering new insights. Our consciousness and by that I mean conscious awareness, can only handle so much. In our day to day lives we are constantly being bombarded by sensory data, some putting it at the equivalent of 15 million bits per second. In comparison, what we can mostly consciously process and be aware of, amounts to between 15 and 40 bits per second. These figures vary in the literature but what doesn't vary is that there is a vast difference between what we receive and process subconsciously and what we process consciously. When we let go of some of what has been taking up room in our consciousness, we make space for something new to take our attention. This is really the first step of intuition.

On some levels, letting go of what normally takes our attention is easy. Turn down the lights, shut the door and shut your eyes and you have lessened the quantity of sensory input. If you are learning intuitive awareness as a new skill, all of this will help. These circumstances, however, aren't always convenient and even if they were, there is still the challenge of the thought processes and ways of thinking. Shutting the eyes, whilst calming the mind, doesn't necessarily turn it "off". Our patterned ways of habitual thinking can persist and often do, even if we are now applying that patterned way of thinking to another pocket of information.

The practice of intuition is primarily a practice in thinking differently;thinking more expansively and creatively. It is designed to move us forward in life, to step us into higher levels of creativity and consciousness. We are all inherently intuitive and everyone has moments of spontaneous intuitive awareness, but being intuitive on a conscious level requires practice. Why? Because receiving a different pool of information is just part of the equation. What is equally important, or even more so, is how the information is taken in and interpreted. As we practice, we become more aware of our thought patterns and perceptions and are more able to let go of the limiting ways we perceive and interpret information. We become more aware of our biases and when we are distorting the information to meet pre-existing agendas. We can appreciate something new and fresh; even when we don't understand it or necessarily agree with it (in our logical minds).

Living intuitively is fun. Living creatively as a consequence is a great joy. To be able to take any situation and create newness out of it is a great gift and one, in my mind, to be fostered and shared. It's certainly worth the practice.

Intuition, Premonitions, and Mind Power of Memory

view, eyes, by looking, woman, frame, hand, finger, section, perspective, studio, cut out

Have you ever had that 'gut feeling' that something didn't feel right? Did you ever chock it off and nothing and just gone ahead and done whatever you were doing ignoring it, only to find out later that it turns out to be a very bad idea? I have. Now I listen to my gut, maybe you should too. What is intuition? That's a loaded question and the reality is we don't know but assume it comes from slow brainwaves finding patterns of events in our memory. Let's talk.

You see, this conversation came up at our think tank the other day, someone asked me point blank "Have you ever had 'premonitions' or intuitions that did have real-time results?' They then went on to describe three instances that they experienced, similar to how an evangelical would 'witness' to you explaining how they 'found god' and why those circumstances caused them to become a born-again or believer.

Now then, to answer this question from a personal point of view; yes, for me it seems to be a daily occurrence, in fact for a while they were so uncanny, I felt as if something was up, but used my reasoning skills to dismiss it. I prefer chaos, randomness, individuality, self-determination over a prescribed planned future or Calvanistic religious genre.

Perhaps my mind picks up the subtlest of clues and runs the scenarios forth, coming up with the answers in advance, perhaps able to see through the complexity and find a pattern but my brain and logical mind won't allow me to grant myself some sort of 'visionary' status, so I chock it up to the ability to sift through endless details without realizing it. I think this might be what is occurring, but don't know for sure. I think the whole thing is utterly fascinating, and that some people with their minds turned on, unclouded can do it much better than others. Yes, let us discuss this.

I've had a lot of thoughts on this. One is that the memory in a healthy mind, uninhibited with boxed in thinking has certain brain-waves that constantly run simultaneously to other brain waves doing deep searches, and as the mind gets good at this, it is constantly working and providing clues, sometimes seemingly minuscule in nature, and the human gut also seems to forewarn of danger, etc.

So, is that it, or is their more to intuition, premonition, and that 'gut feeling' we sometimes get? Whatever it is, it is hard to ignore isn't it, and when we do, often we pay for it. Okay so, I ask you please consider all this and think on it.

The Intuitive Mind Is a Sacred Gift and the Rational Mind Is a Faithful Servant - Albert Einstein

Photo of Woman in White Top and Glasses Holding a Tablet While Looking Outside a Window

So the rational mind is the dominant in a person, but what happens if the intuitive mind becomes dominant?

Let me tell you about an experiment, where a man did exactly that.

Firstly, how the heck you differentiate between the two. What comes from the intuition is more in the form of feeling and that feeling is pure, there is no clutter in it. It is like a state of balance, which is energising. It is free, connecting, expanding, and integrating in its nature. You do not think about it, you feel it. The rational mind creates thoughts, which in themselves have no emotional richness. They are more still, stable, even. They are bringing meaning, sense, connecting the elements, holding the picture together.

Anyway, the subject started the experiment from the beginning of September 2009. What he did, was letting the intuitive mind lead the way, and the rational mind just translating that in actions in the present, which is opposite of the usual relationship where the rational mind is trying very hard to figure out how things are going to happen.

In this experiment the logical (rational) mind's role was not to figure out what will happen, but how to make things happen now. It is important to say that on conscious level the person had no idea, what will happen in the future. As the intuition was telling him what to do in the moment, but not communicating why and how this exactly relates to the future. Sometimes it was giving the subject a hint but more a temporary direction, rather than anything solid related to the future.

What happened?

The subject at the time was in his third year at university and had started working part-time since the summer after his second year. The person reduced the amount of studying in hours approximately 3 times compared to the past year. In year two the subject achieved 66.78% on average compared to year three where the GA was 72.96%.

The subject spent approximately a month where he was not using a watch to coordinate his schedule (no alarm in the morning, not looking at the clock to determine if he should go somewhere and etc.). In this time the subject needed to go to his part-time work, go to seminars and lectures in the university and etc. The person was working a job, which was shift based and the shifts were on a random basis (including early mornings). He was following his intuition when to go, what to do. The result was that the person was occasionally late for some seminars, lectures and shifts, but usually small amount of time (10-15 minutes). He skipped some seminars or lectures, which didn't affect the individual negatively in any way. He was not fired from work or disciplined, he didn't fail the course, he didn't become a FAILURE. The subject had much more efficient way of living as he had more time for many things, lost less energy and there was increased synchronicity in his life. He reported multiplied excitement, passion, joy and that he felt that his life is much better organised compared to when the rational mind was leading.

It is important to mention that a key component for this experiment to be reproduced is the cognitive processing technique of the subject. This method is linked with self-awareness. Every time the subject experienced negative emotion (feeling of fear, anxiety, contraction, weakness) due to stimuli from the environment he was investigating his subconscious definitions. This process happens by analysing the situation in which the feeling occurred and what kinds of definitions are triggered by the stimuli and changing them with preferred definitions. For example the subject in the experiment had a coursework with a deadline in a month time. The rational mind if leading would have said: "please let's start now or in a week's time as we need to plan and we don't know how long it will take" and etc. The intuitive mind didn't say that at all. Actually in this case it mentioned the coursework 3 days before the deadline. But because there was the definition in the subject that good results are achieved by hard work, the closest the deadline, the more negative emotion the subject was experiencing as to the fact that he was not doing the coursework. So as he was feeling that negative emotion of anxiety, contraction and etc. described above he started investigating to find the definition. The person began first by asking himself when that negative emotion occurred, what it was connected to. In this example when he remembered about the coursework. In the majority of cases, it is not very straight forward process because the subject will go through number of definitions, which will not be the core definition. I will use analogy to give you better understanding. Imagine a problem. To solve a problem permanently you need to reach the root cause of the problem and to do that you will first go through multiple peripheral causes. Same with definitions! The way to know if you successfully have changed the core belief does not require any effort. If you have identified correctly and changed with preferred definition in the same situation, you will get a different result. You will not experience the negative emotion, but instead the intuitive feelings more clearly. Using that technique you will be able to recognise the intuition, which is a clear and pure feeling and you will know when there is just a small bit of mud in the water leading to the inability to drink it.

Important note: Definitions are subconscious. Every time you are executing this process you tap in the subconscious and bring out certain definitions, you investigate them, change them and then you put them back in the subconscious. When you re-experience the situation you must not think about the changed definition. It is already in the subconscious and it is automated process.

Would you experiment?

Please feel free to comment and share your thoughts. Thanks for reading.

The Greatest Leap

Jumping Woman

Sometimes in life, we all must take a leap off the edge in faith. With that said, the bulk of this article will be about the seemingly unbelievable reality of life that we must believe in that which is not easily sensed or visible yet exists fully.

So, I will start by paraphrasing and quoting the telephone inventor Alexander Graham Bell on the science of vibration as he put it through Napoleon Hill in that old book "The Law of Success": At low vibrations we have normal heat, easily visible light, and what we can touch or feel easily. We have what we can feel with normal sensation at this level.

Meanwhile, at a higher level of vibrations, all kinds of things we cannot see without fancy instruments is at least going on such as ultraviolet light, infrared vibration, and the higher stuff. It is all under the umbrella of our reality, but we cannot see it except with fancy instruments, and if we do not have that, we use intuition and faithful understanding.

When I think about the higher things in life, that is what I think about: What could be vibrating within our reality, but, just above the threshold of our senses? What could be happening that I am not consciously aware of. What is that "leap of faith" at the very least I need to take to understand these things outside of normal reality, but nevertheless exist?

I will tell you this about that: Sure, the laws are uniform at all levels of reality with radiations, oscillations and vibrations, but, it takes a certain amount of faith at first to sense the higher and ultra low thresholds of reality. For example, you cannot see the atoms that make up the air we breathe for the most part unless they are smog, fog or something tangible, yet you do know that it does exist in reality as physical phenomena because you are breathing it. That understanding is a start, but, there is so much that is vibrating around reality that is above and below the threshold of senses, that it still does take a certain amount of faith to realize that they do exist in reality as fully as we can see cars moving or mountains in front of us.

So, the greatest leap in my view is to sense all of the subtleties of reality high and low, realize that everything vibrates right up to the highest and down to the lowest. Reality encompasses everything anyway, that is what I want you to take away from this article.

Self-Trust and Intuition

High on its perch the bird watched the world go by, wondering what it would be like to fly into the sky. The door unlocked, the bird was offered the chance to explore.

"If I leave the cage what will be waiting for me? I do not want to be in this cage, but I know how it comforts me. I know no different, so I think I will stay. Maybe one day I will change."

We all want the courage to leave the cage and fly into the sky, but it takes trust to really let go and allow the freedom of living to flow. When we lack self-trust, it becomes difficult to make decisions and leads to second guessing ourselves.

Trust, creates the change needed to live the life we desire. If we do not trust ourselves to drive, then we would never get behind the steering wheel.

Just like the bird, our known experiences are comforting, they allow us to stay in our present circumstances even if we do not like them. The ego tells us that this is the best place to be while courage keeps it all in place. The illusion is that we believe life is meant to be this way.

Becoming in tune with intuition will naturally play on the relationship that you have with trust. Questioning every feeling, thought or happening. Is it my mind or is it intuition? This is the outcome of previous conditioning.

Intuition is not emotionally driven so be alert of the thoughts that surface because if emotions are attached then it is more than likely a bi product of past teachings manifesting as intuition. Emotions can create fear which will then cause trust issues.

The story of the bird highlights the power that emotions have on our thoughts and inability to trust ourselves. The bird sees the cage as a link to feeling safe. When the door is opened the bird feels uneasy. Taking a step towards freedom the held beliefs; "Don't do that. You don't know what's out there. You may be hurt or never come back" are so overwhelming that the bird is forced by fear to remain in the comfort it has become used to.

Our fears become reality when we fail to listen within. Luckily, human beings are wonderful at adapting to surroundings and changing our minds within a second.

Trust is often learned by listening to others, we become trusting because a link to feeling safe is established. When life is going well we trust that all is okay and often we attribute this to something outside ourselves whether that is God, the universe or a parent or teacher but when the trust is no longer there, we are let down and our mind holds onto the memory, stored away to be used as a validation of why we can't change.

The reality is we experience trust from within. To be able to comprehend that a decision is based on your ability to know what is best for you is an example of self-trust. Intuition and trust are intertwined, both are needed to receive the full power of what is possible.

Tips for Trusting Intuition
• Intuition does not have emotional attachment
• Trust is intertwined with intuition and cannot be separated
• Fears become reality when we fail to listen to the truth within
• Thoughts and emotions may be linked to the unconscious giving a false sense of security and preventing what may be a positive decision

Deeper Perception - What to Do With It?

The ancient mariners navigated their sea route at night by the stars. These tiny twinkling bits of knowledge high in the night time sky offer useful information. The same could be said for our spiritual journey. Likewise, navigation is important for finding a path for the soul. We need higher knowledge intuitively perceived. Something that provides deeper perception than the facts of science can provide.

This deeper perception might be an insight that comes during self-reflection. Or perhaps it is an intuition we become aware of during meditation. Alternatively, it could be an idea found in sacred writing.

It can be assumed that seeing what is good and true can help us steer a course through the complexities of life. Possibly enable us to find meaning and purpose in our troubles. Even offer encouragement and hope.

But is this certain? Is deeper perception of itself sufficient for transforming our lives?

Examples of deeper perception
I may pick up on the idea that there are two realms of reality - a realm of physical objects and a realm of consciousness or spirit, not limited by space or time. As a result, I may toy with the thought. Play around with it. Bring it into conversation. Moreover, I might even use it as a working hypothesis.

An intuition may come whilst meditating. For example, the sense of the oneness of all life; everything somehow connected; an essence of reality behind outward appearance. This insight may stay or depart.

Huge variety of spiritual knowledge and awareness
The world is teeming with tiny seeds of wisdom. We wake up to them again when we hear them clearly articulated.

Another deeper perception is self-knowledge. For example, knowing about one's own strengths and weaknesses, successes and failings, dreams and fears. One weakness might be winning arguments, gaining status and impressing people without being concerned about the consequences. Personal development means living with consideration and integrity.

In line with the notion of karma, it is said that sooner or later we get what we give - what goes round comes round.

Realising the importance of compassion for oneself and for other people is another example. This is related to the so-called Golden rule. Wilson Van Dusen (mystic and clinical psychologist) has pointed out that a form of this idea is found in various religions.

  • Do to others as you would have them do to you (Christianity)
  • What is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow man (Judaism)
  • No one is a believer until he desires for his brother that which he desires for himself (Islam)
  • Do not do unto others what would cause you pain if done unto you (Hinduism)
  • Hurt not others in ways that you yourself would find hurtful (Buddhism)
  • Regard your neighbours gain as your own gain and your neighbour's loss as your own loss (Taoism)

Our response to deeper perception
In the Bible Jesus told a story about a farmer scattering seeds. First of all some seeds fell on the path and the birds came and ate them up. A number fell on shallow soil and withered in the sun because they had no root. Some fell among thorns which choked the growing plants. Other seed fell on good soil where it produced a large crop.
Swedenborgian writer, Edward Mitchel, says our minds are like soil, which differ according to our willingness to nurture seeds of wisdom.

The path
Some people are like the hard ground of the path. They have an outward opposition to higher principles. As a result they have no interest in spiritual ideas that casually enter into thought. Consequently, the seed of truth does not sink in.

Shallow soil
Some of us may be like the shallow ground. We might become rapid converts to new ideas to us of writers in spirituality and religion. We may become quite emotional or argumentative in their favour. But a superficial interest, in discovering what is meaningful, is not deep enough to survive the trials of putting ideas - say about mindfulness, self-restraint or compassion - into practice. Also needed is a willingness to be more patient, less greedy and more concerned for others.

Thorns
Some of us have plenty of thorns in our makeup. Thorns have the advantage in being native to the soil. They are at home in it. And so, in our natural minds, worldliness and self-centeredness finds a hospitable home and thrives. Consequently, when we allow these pleasure-seeking and self-serving thoughts to rule our life, we become indifferent to the seeds of the spiritual life which can no longer grow.

Good soil
The story goes on to say some seed falls on good soil and produces a large crop. Within us an openness of heart enables us to connect with the light of what is deeply inspiring. Also, there is a willingness to put higher awareness of what is good and meaningful into practice.

Summary about deeper perception
There are many ways we can gain deeper perception. For instance, during counselling, self-reflection, meditation, contemplation, listening to ethical ideas, observing nature, reading sacred writing, hearing about religious teachings etc.

However, I believe deeper ideas and insights of themselves do not amount to enlightenment but they are a necessary precursor to it. Spiritual knowledge and awareness are merely the beginning of wisdom.

The process of enlightenment depends on how we personally respond to higher perception. Do we truly listen? Do we act on it? Or do we allow it to get drowned out by the concerns of self and materialism?

6 Effective Ways to Focus on Your Personal Goals and Avoid Getting Distracted

Like many people around the globe, is it becoming more and more difficult for you to avoid the ever-present distractions of our time and move purposefully toward the targets you set for yourself?

If your answer is yes, then I want to assure you that all hope is not lost yet. You still have the chance to do more in your life. You have what it takes to do what you want to do despite being bombarded on a minute-by-minute basis by the incredible amount of information, for example, which tends to get you stuck and confused rather than empower you to take action and succeed in life.

I've personally had to deal with lots of distractions as I try to become more productive as an online writer and publisher. Finding time to feed myself alone can be a demanding activity which robs me of a sizeable amount of time to create more content online.

As I work from home, a single visitor to my home can stay for such a long time that they often end up disrupting my day's schedule. It's too bad if it's all about small talk!

Unforeseen life events are another source of distraction.

Now, if you're a mompreneur or a single parent working from home with those lovely precocious kids all around you, I can well imagine how your day could be turned into a nightmare.

TV, emails, phone calls, and excessive noise from neighbours who hardly understand the harm they're causing are just a few more sources of the distractions that are making all of us do less, thereby missing our targets, day after day.

What is the solution to all these? I've got six ideas to share with you to help you focus better. They've been helping me a lot and I hope you too will find them extremely useful.

1. Never lose sight of your original vision.

In whatever you do, let your original motivations be your guide. Remind yourself frequently about why you decided to do what you're doing. This should give you the needed will-power to stay committed no matter the distractions.

2. Listen to advice but let your intuition be the final decider.

Do not allow the enormous number of tips-based and how-to articles, podcasts and videos on the internet these days to make you stray from your goals. If anything, they should provide a guide so you do things right and maximize your outcomes. In the final analysis, what your gut instincts tell you should moderate or even override some of these pieces of advice.

3. Identify the things or people that are a constant source of distraction in your work life.

This will enable you to devise the right approach to at least minimize the nuisance and achieve your production targets.

4. Have a daily schedule you can implement.

It is no use putting too much on the plate only to end up doing so little at the end of the day. Your daily to-do list should be an enabler rather than a noose around your neck. Make it simple and achievable so that you can have a laser-sharp focus on only what is doable.

It is better to properly implement one or two tasks within a set period of time than to have lots of poorly executed personal projects. Too many uncompleted projects can make you waste resources. They can frustrate you or become a source of pain and permanent regret.

5. Make room for "any other business" inside your schedule.

Like it or not, the unannounced visits will happen once in a while. You'll have to attend to the children - and oh, some can really be demanding! There's absolutely nothing you can do about that. You must eat well in order to stay healthy and productive.

Life's unexpected occurrences will always be with us.

This is why you have to find an effective way to accommodate all these within your otherwise tight schedule.

I believe this is the only way to go on being focused and productive in spite of the obstacles that may come your way.

6. Finally, get enough rest.

You need not overwork your body and mind in order to get what you want out of life.Find enough time to engage in healthy habits which will enable you to sleep soundly and rest better.

What is the use? You may ask. According to the experts, one big benefit of having adequate sleep, rest and relaxation time for yourself is that it allows you to gain clarity and psychological stability.

It goes without saying that you will come back more energized to focus on your tasks and achieve your desired results.

So, there you have it. The distractions will never go away completely. In fact, the world is gearing itself up for more to come. That's the reason why you need to cultivate these habits to stay focused on your tasks and personal goals.

Unleash the Power of Intuition

Woman Taking Off Black Top

Power of intuition
Perceptions are the binoculars through which you usually see things. At times, the way things look is not the way things are but they are sighted to you the way you see them just because of your earlier perception based biases. Perceptions are deceptive as they tend to bend with incidences one goes around with.

However, there is one force deep within you that surpasses your perception and alters the feel into a stronger sense that is actually closer to the factuality; i.e., Intuition.

Intuition is a sense of alarm that helps our perception to direct the focus to the actual façade of the situation and enable you to form the positive judgments or decisions to act or remain inactive. The irony is that this is a forsaken trait by people and usually an individual who not only look for the earthly facts but also neglects the natural signaling which is the guided system to help you steer clear of upcoming dangers but also gives you inklings to the underlying goodness of an incidence.

Here the question arises that what we could do to get a handle on this boon. First of all, we must learn to pay heed to those inner voices within us which could either be the voice of your conscience or a pang in your stomach or whatever the shape it takes, it must be put forth to you before we could form an opinion or make any decision. Once we habituate ourselves with this act of listening to the sensory tiny voice, we would find ourselves in a better situation to analyze a situation and to evaluate the pros and cons of our reaction to that particular state of affairs.

What lies next to give our intuition a shot. Why call it a shot? As it may sometimes go off the hook or may go against your expectation as opposed to the prevailing paradigm of "A universal guidance system", but again this sense needs some time and experiments with its allowed proportion to failure in order to get strengthened up and let it establishes the best possible notions on the basis of which, it alters its course of inference so as to reach as close as possible to the reality-based decisions and map your mind into the right dimensions of psychics.

When this gut feeling is all nurtured up, it embodies the structured criterion within your mind to assess a case in point before getting down with a firm opinion or stronghold conclusion. So, now this is the time that you reaped what you harvested. You have successfully awakened the natural mechanism within yourself who mentors your true defined living standards, work patterns, habits forming or behavioral administration and that is the point where your maturity takes off the edge.

The power of intuition is infinite in nature and if further reinforced with advanced neuro-linguistic tools, it channels a sprout of energy in your self and assists you being an individual with extraordinary abilities which is commonly found in the world best leaders, founders or change agents as they possessed a firm control over their intuition and led a life filled with outstanding marvels, well-admired maneuvers, acknowledged services to the mankind.

Faith Of The Mind

To control your mind to positive and beneficial purposes is to have ultimate faith in your mind and its genuine abilities. Not to control your mind is fear, and laziness. With that, I begin this article. Mastery is simply a full affirmation of control and productive discipline. Without control and productive discipline from the beginning, nothing is possible. A good or great life is disciplined in itself and is controlled from within. Bad lives are simply devoid of this quality.

Letting the "heart lead you wherever" is the most destructive thing you can do, for genuine intuition involves both the heart and the mind. Indeed, the biggest loss in life is to close your inner eyes or stop thinking, because if you let someone else do it for you in this way, it will be done wrong to you in some way, whether there are good or bad intentions involved. What I am saying is, remember yourself and watch yourself, because nobody is really looking out for "number two", they are always looking out for "number one" or themselves and it does not matter how charitable they may seem. That may seem gross and sickening in a way, but, I am just telling the reality of all situations in life and existence. Laziness is not rewarded. Vigilance is always rewarded, within yourself and outside of yourself. After all, why do you think the "easy way" almost never works easily, while hard, concentrated effort almost always gets it genuinely, every time.

Faithfulness of the mind requires hard work, not being lazy, and realistic vigilance anyhow. The way to lose is to embrace fully the "get rich quick scheme" at full intensity anyhow.

Sure, this may sound patient, realistic and insufferable to some of you. But those who achieve their goals get to work on their definite major purpose. Those who do not achieve anything are lazy, but have made a decision also to do nothing. Everything comes to those with a definite purpose, persistent work and honestly wanted goals.

So, when I call this article "Faith of the Mind", you now have an idea of what I mean without too much effrontery or pretense. I mean, you must have a purpose to what you are doing, a definite purpose. Without a purpose and genuine work ethic, nothing can be achieved. There are so many seeming failures because people are trying to achieve the purposes of other people and not their own. Have you noticed something about success? Success is people achieving their own purposes in reality and the purposes of nobody else. That kind of success is what a genuinely faithful mind, heart and everything else come down to anyhow. Realistically, I will not mince any words: All of this is what we make it.

Message From the Universe: Trying Is the FIRST Step to Succeeding

"Haven't I always said, knock and it will be opened? Prepare and the way shall be revealed? Speak and all the elements will obey. Act and I will, too? Laugh and be healed? Give and the floodgates will open? Wink and you'll be winked at? Dream and thy Kingdom will come?

Oh... Well, that's what I meant to say.

Wink,
The Universe"

If you don't ask, you will never get! If you don't try, you will never experience success! If you don't love, you will never understand what love is! If you don't risk, you will never feel FREE and exhilarated! If you don't access failure, you will never enjoy wealth! Should I continue? Fear is the SOLE element that will stop you from moving forward. Look at fear in the eyes and say you will beat it, say you will prevail, say you will move forward no matter what.

We are all guided by fear, because of uncertainty and how we are afraid of not knowing what will happen today, tomorrow, next week or next month. We try to anticipate too much, too quickly. We do not take into consideration external elements that can change your predictions and leave you disappointed. No one can predict accurately anything. It is based on a hunch, a feeling, intuition some might say. The key is to prepare yourself but not leave yourself depressed because things didn't happen the way you wanted.
Live for today, not tomorrow. No one has a clue as to what can happen the next day. It is imperative to enjoy what you are doing today, and never live life with regrets. If you want to do something, go do it. Don't say the next day: "Oh damm, I should have done that yesterday". Just follow your dreams, no matter what it takes to make them happen. It can be hard to know if you are on the right direction while working your butt off on a project or venture. No one will tell you if this is the right path to take. However, you will hear many say: "Don't bother wasting your time, forget about it. It won't work, or it's a stupid idea, or grow up and be responsible and just be complacent to what is happening in your life". I heard that crap before and I just ignored it. I couldn't care less to what others are saying and you should too. Move towards your goals, towards your dreams, towards your ambitions. Do not let ANYONE tell you otherwise. In the meantime, enjoy life and stay happy.

Sixth Sense

According to the Spiritual Science Research Foundation, sixth sense or subtle perception ability "is our ability to understand the subtle cause and effect relationship behind many events which is beyond our understanding of the intellect." ESP, clairvoyance, premonition, and intuition are considered synonyms of sixth sense. In other words, this goes beyond the five senses of smell, taste, sight, touch, and sound.

So why do we even want to explore this as it relates to business? In an article in Psychology Today, "the job of the conscious mind is to form a story out of all our sensations and reflections. Life as we experience it is not just a series of unconnected thoughts and events; it's a coherent narrative unfolding in an orderly universe." If we analyze some of the most successful business leaders, it is very evident that they capitalize on their "intuition" to formulate unique strategies and ideas. Some may even say it is a "gut reaction" but however you label it, it is obvious that it does work as long as you know how to channel it effectively.

If we interviewed 100 famous people, we would probably get 100 different answers on how their sixth sense has gotten them where they are today. The key for all of us is to be open-minded enough to be willing to explore. Like a child who can make a rocket ship out of a box, we need to look at life's experiences in a whole new light. As we grow older, most people become more myopic and lose sight of all that could be in both their personal and professional lives. Sometimes it is as simple as someone else pointing it out that we realize it was staring us in the face all along.

As a coach, this sense of awareness is what makes a coaching session that much more fulfilling. When a client of mine has that ah! ha! moment, it is a time to rejoice. From there, a development plan can be created with clear milestones being defined. The feeling of helplessness and despair seem to disappear and confidence builds. It may take some time to get to that point but all the soul-searching and experiencing new things makes it all worthwhile.

Over the next couple of weeks, take time to really "smell the roses". Make a commitment to yourself that you won't react with a "no" so quickly to invitations to do new things and/or meet new people. Try reading books, watching movies or TV shows, and visiting places that may not have appealed to you in the past but you are willing to take a chance on now. Record all of your six senses. You may feel that you can't "taste" a movie but there may be scenes where your mouth went dry or you noticed the popcorn was very salty. The objective here is to be present at that moment and then write it down after so you can reflect on it periodically. Patterns may start to emerge that can give you ideas on how to have a more exciting life with many new things to experience.

Self Sabotage and How to Overcome It (By Gemma Garbett)

Self sabotage is one of the biggest ways that we don't achieve everything that we want from life. Have you ever been at a point in your life where everything is going great and then all of a sudden BANG! you have all of these fearful thoughts about not being good enough, not pretty enough, not smart enough, etc.

This is the Ego's way of protecting you. The Ego has a pretty amazing role. It's the Ego's job to keep you safe, especially if you are in a life or death situation. However, it also tries to keep you safe from everything. Now I know that a lot of people view the Ego as bad, but I don't. It just has a job to do and gets overactive and takes on all of those fearful comments that we have hidden in the back of our psyche.

Take today for instance, I got up and meditated as usual, I got the kids ready for school. But I couldn't shift this blah feeling. I walked around feeling pretty heavy. A client cancelled, so that added to how I was feeling. But then I had a thought that stopped me in my tracks. What am I doing?! This isn't me!

I've been making some pretty big changes to do with my work lately and allowing myself to become vulnerable and I know that this feeling was my way of sabotaging what I was doing. All morning I've had the thoughts in my head of 'who are you to be doing this work?' 'Who are you to be a medium?' 'Go and get yourself another job.'

So here I was sitting here and I thought 'Right, I have all of these tools, how am I going to use them?'

So the first thing I did, was take out my journal and write out everything that I am grateful for in my life. I then looked at each item one by one and sent love to them. I send love by visualising each item on the list in a big pink bubble, but you should do what works for you.

Secondly, I looked at my why. Why am I making these changes? Is it for me? Is it for others? Is it to help people. I just let the words flow and didn't censor any of them.

Thirdly, I sat in meditation and visualised how I would feel when all of the things that I am hoping for come to pass. I created the feelings that I wanted to feel, the sounds I wanted to hear and I let my intuition guide me. If you are not someone that has meditated before, you can start by concentrating on your breath. Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. At this time the Universe (or God, divine spirit, etc) will give you a few more signs or steps and you will go back to that place of certainty.

These steps can help you make subtle changes and keep self sabotage at bay. When you practice them daily you will see big changes in your perceptions and in your daily life.

You Are an Empath?

Image result for friendships

"I'm an empath," said the person next to me at our regular group meeting.

"You are? How do you know?"

"I realised it after reading some articles that explained the behaviour of an empath person-and then my physician confirmed it."

"Can you give me a few more details?"

"As an empath, I'm easily overwhelmed by the stress and feelings of not only my loved ones but of everyone around me. I think I absorb other people's emotions because I have a really high level of sensitivity. But after a while, I feel exhausted and unhappy; I instantly lose my emotional balance and mental energy."

"Maybe you're just a highly sensitive person?"

"I don't think so; here's the definition of an empath: 'a sensitive person who easily experiences burnout.' Google defines burnout as 'physical or mental collapse caused by overwork or stress.'"

"What causes it?"

"Spending too much time in life's fast lane. If we don't slow down, our mental and physical energy levels become overloaded, and we easily rush into a stressful state."

"Why do we let it happen?"

"Probably because of emotional pain and anxiety. We feel out of balance, as though we're never efficient enough. It's a terrible feeling, believe me."

"Sorry to hear that."

"Yeah-everyone has too much to do. The worst part about it is that we begin to lose our mental capacity, our memory and our ability to think rationally.

"That sounds scary."

"It is scary. When the mind doesn't work properly, the physical body suffers as well. Empathy is a state of chronic stress, and you know how harmful chronic stress is. It affects all your body's functions."

"Sounds like a path to self-destruction."

"Yeah. It is."

"I heard some very positive stuff about empaths... like they're people with "a good heart," who are very spiritual and sensitive. They're good listeners, and they're always there for you. If they're in a peaceful and loving environment, their bodies take on these characteristics and flourish. Is that true?"

"Probably yes-generally speaking. Some of us experience the world through intuition, which is important for the development of our 'gut feelings' about people. I feel that some people drain my energy; so as an empath, sometimes I need to be alone. Not always-but sometimes. That's my way of protecting myself from an emotional overload. On the other hand, as an empath, I want to try to relieve the pain of those around me, which is an impossible task. We're very complicated people, aren't we?"

"Not at all. To me, empaths are beautiful, sensitive and caring people who are ready to save the world. They suffer more than anyone can understand, which is really sad."

"Thanks. I appreciate you are saying that."

"Is there one strategy in particular, that's works well for empaths?"

"The first step is to acknowledge and to accept that we are empaths and to learn how to take care of ourselves in every situation. The next step is to make changes-to restore our core energy-with exercise, meditation and healthy food. It's important, too, to surround ourselves with supportive people. We also need to protect our sensitivities with strategies such as time management, and we have to learn to set limits and boundaries."

"Thanks for some good information."
