Happiness: It Is Not What You May Think About

Who does not want to be happy? Nobody; we are all desperately waiting for happiness. Another question: who knows what happiness is? Nobody, I guess. Then why do we want to be happy if we do not know what happiness is exactly?

A boy went to a market to buy apples; he was a schoolboy at the time. He would listen up his mother's advice and respect every word uttered through her mouth. When he went to a market, he came across a salesperson. The salesperson had a number of fruits. When the boy saw the fruits, he could not believe his eyes; he was somehow confused by the similarities of the fruits. He was particularly looking for apples, but the salesperson had a number of apples, which made it difficult for his choice. After wondering for a while, he bought two pounds of red apples because he thought that red apples are the ordinary ones that most people would prefer to buy. He went home, but his mother did not approve it. She stared at him puzzled for a couple of minutes.

"What is wrong mother?" the boy asked.

"Have you lost your mind?" she reacted.

"I am sane and applied my best knowledge when I bought it," he answered politely.

"These are not apples; they are Ping-Pong balls; I did not know that you started eating plastic balls," she shocked him.

This is the situation in the pursuit of happiness. We think we know what happiness is, but unfortunately we eat counterfeit happiness. A mistake or ignorance is always alright and natural too, but learning to negate it, is absolutely optional; nobody will force you to learn and become wise. Happiness is not an emotional wellness or contentment, but rather wisdom.

Age is compulsory, but wisdom is option.

-Carroll Bryant

A dog knows only one owner in life; it does not change an owner whatsoever. It does not matter for a dog whether its owner is kind or cruel; just ownership forever. If the owner is kind, both the dog ad owner enjoy a wonderful companion, whereas if the owner is cruel, the dog suffers too much and cannot go against; after all he is his owner.

Back to us: Who is our owner? Are we owned or owners? This is a million dollar question we should ask before setting off a pursuit of happiness. We are no more dogs; we are well equipped; we got everything: science, knowledge, wisdom, philosophy and people, among others. As a personal advice, I would promote folks to look within and find out where one is chained. That is the beginning of liberation; otherwise freedom. If one does not know, where he or she is imprisoned, it may take an eternity to be liberated. I am not talking about a particular geographical jail, but rather who raised you up; what fed you mentally or simply who introduced you to life at the very beginning of your curiosity or exploration? Questions are dry, but they are the ones that lead us to water or heaven, and thus ask question after question. If you are afraid of asking questions, I do not think there will be a messiah to liberate you. Even if there is a messiah, he needs your cooperation or willingness in this matter to liberate you.

True Nature of Reality

Each moment of our life is filled with impermanence and yet the common tendency is to not pay attention to it at all unless acquainted to do so. Upon waking-up, is your first thought about impermanence? Very unlikely so! Yet, a night went by and from that moment impermanence looms on anything from anywhere. Can you claim otherwise? Is there anything that exists permanently without change? Leave the room, the moment is gone. Who knows if you will return! What spontaneously comes to mind when talking about impermanence is Buddhism. Have you ever considered your mortality, your changeability? Have you observed the disruption that impermanence creates around happiness? Why is that so? Why is the mind so attached to permanency?

It is the mind that gives power to permanency, which, in itself does not exist. Introspection of the mind is your best tool to observe and understand the tricks the mind plays on the true nature of reality. The true nature of reality is made of impermanence and changeability and through a progressive practice of introspection, it becomes possible to detect attachment to form, shapes, odors, colors, emotions, and dispel the tendency of becoming acquainted with attachment. Would you try? Would you accept to sit every day even if only for ten minutes and observe the mind's tricking games? Maybe you would hesitate, thinking that it would divert your attention to other more important business matters. However a fantasy world it may appear to be, meditation is a great training tool for the mind to calm down, pace down, reflect on the true nature of reality, impermanence. Thoughts pass like clouds in the sky. Something that was attracting attention, at times maybe obsessively, becomes redundant, disappears, opinion changes, emotions pace down, anxiety settles. Neuroscientific studies bring solid evidence that meditation is not only a mind's training tool, and rather a wellness generator for the brain by stimulating a process called neurogenesis, the production of new neurons. This means that even ten minutes of meditation per day, can, in the medium and long terms generate new neurons, simply by teaching the mind to practice discernment.

The true nature of reality is of changeability, and sitting down with regular punctuality even ten minutes a day, bring vast mind's rewiring effects, that may, in the long run, contribute to maintaining a healthy state of mind.

Don't humans live in their mind? Even a healthy and fit body has a mind which requires the same amount of training and wellness than the physical body.

Would you give it a try?

Embark on Art Exploration for Wellness and Personal Growth

Woman Sketching on White Cardboard

Why should women practice art? Artistic expression is considered as a fundamental need of human beings. This article aims at helping you start a fascinating creative journey by implementing 4 easy steps:

STEP 1: Be freed from unconstructive thinking.

The old-fashioned belief that art is something that only children practice or that it is just a waste of time should be dismissed altogether. Art practice can be a very liberating and empowering process for any woman. It is a fantastic opportunity to unravel your hidden potential or simply to unwind after a hectic day. People create artworks to communicate and to make sense of themselves, other people, and the world around them. It is also proven that art has therapeutic effects. It can be a mompreneur's special haven; you can express yourself and let go of any stress and tension associated with the modern way of life. Quite often as a working mother, you may feel overwhelmed by your responsibilities and multiple roles. Yet, by practicing art regularly, you can gradually restore your equilibrium. You can express your feelings and release tension at the same time. You become rejuvenated and return to your everyday life with new energy and an enhanced perspective on your real strengths and capabilities.

STEP 2: Explore your interests.

In order to practice art regularly and benefit from it in the long-run, you should find what interests you. So some introspection is required. Ask yourself: What do you like? Painting, dancing, writing, creating music, or taking pictures? You are more likely to continue an artistic activity you really enjoy. Of course, you can combine all these activities in case you are drawn to all of them. This is also one of the main strategies used by art therapy, which allows the combination of different avenues to creative expression. The more deeply you are immersed in the creative process, the more enthused and enthralled you become by what you can achieve with art.

STEP 3: Experiment and practice with confidence.

It should be stressed that you do not need to possess any special skills to produce art. After all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In classic art therapy, emphasis is laid on the creative process rather than the artistic outcome. This can also be your own guideline when creating art alone, without the supervision of an art therapist. You may not be able to gain specific insights which can only be offered by a professional, but still, the pleasure of free expression is a reward in itself. Do not be afraid to experiment with different materials, approaches, and methods to maintain your keen interest in artistic practice.

STEP 4: Develop your vision and maintain your motivation.

Traditionally the focus of professional and amateur artists alike has been on depicting harmony. Unlike science where priority is usually given to the process of analysis and dissection, one of the main preoccupations of people who embark on a creative process is to collect and unite elements in order to produce a harmonious whole that replicates nature in a way. Keep this in mind whenever you want to practice art to be inspired and stay true to the value of your mission. Make sure you devote enough time for regular practice. If you start practicing art and experience the satisfaction that comes from artistic expression, chances are you will feel motivated to carry on and make creative expression an integral part of your normal routine.

It is indisputable that art helps you live fully. It connects you to your authentic self and helps you find your inner voice. It enables you to articulate a message. It turns you into an agent that communicates. By doing something you really like, you become absorbed in the particular task, and experience unique emotions; you genuinely rejoice in your engagement with creative materials and methods. After some time of habitual practice, you will feel proud of your artistic growth, and this will boost your self-confidence. You will feel happy about following a creative path with surprising discoveries about yourself, the role of art, and your environment. The more you delve into art practice, the more you may realize that the boundaries between art and life are blurred, at least in some cases.

So follow these four steps and, if you wish, you are welcome to share your unique experience with us: Let us know how and to what extent you have benefited from implementing this plan for artistic exploration and personal development.

What Is Your Unconscious Mind and How Self Hypnosis Can Change Beliefs

Woman Wearing White Shirt Laying on Bed

Self-hypnosis is possibly a really effective tool that you can utilize to get rid of worries, enhance psychological and physical efficiency as well as assist treat dependencies.

Without our understanding of the unconscious mind, there would be no such thing as hypnotherapy, never ever mind self-hypnosis.

in this article we will take a look at what specifically the unconscious mind is and how it connects to your sense of wellness and your character at all times.

Exactly what is the Unconscious?

A lot of us consider Freud as something of a whack task who implicated individuals of fancying their moms and dads. Be that as it might however, he ought to likewise be kept in mind for the numerous exceptionally contributions he made to the world of psychology. Prior to Freud there was no psychiatric therapy or counselling and prior to Freud there was no principle of an unconscious mind.

In Freud's view, the unconscious mind was whatever going on 'under the surface area' throughout our waking lives. He frequently compared this to an iceberg-- where just the really pointer shows up with all the rest being unattainable and dirty. You may state one thing and believe another... however on some level there is more going on under the surface area that even you're unaware of.

It's essential to keep in mind at this moment that Freud just ever explained an 'unconscious mind' since that was the part of the mind we weren't mindful of. He never ever utilized the term 'subconscious' which is actually simply a misnomer.

Problems

Our unconscious is comprised of all the important things our brain thinks to be insignificant or too disturbing for our mindful mind to deal with. Therefore we typically 'repress' memories and therefore cannot remember them, we reject things and we overlook things-- however they are all still there working away under the surface area.

And if there are unconscious associations we hold about something or beliefs about something-- then these can hold us back and trigger us not to carry out at our finest, or occasion to end up being psychologically ill.

This then is the function of timeless Freudian psychodynamic intervention-- to assist the specific pertained to terms and move past these unconscious roadway obstructs. Freud had numerous tools for doing this, from the 'ink blot test' to the analysis of dreams (the 'royal roadway to the unconscious').

Hypnotherapy

Another tool of Freud's though was hypnotism, which intends to put clients in a 'suggestible state' where they have the ability to practically 'turn off' their mindful, critical mind for a bit. This permits the hypnotherapist, therapist or perhaps the specific themselves to 'talk' to the unconscious mind straight as well as to plant recommendations that may change it.

The Benefits of Self-Hypnosis

On an abstract level, Self-hypnosis is the process of giving your own unconscious mind suggestions with the aim of altering your beliefs, your feelings or even your performance. Think of it as a little like inception: the planting of ideas that will ultimately help you to thrive and to get past road blocks that may have been your undoing in the past.

Changing Your Beliefs

Also a strong benefit or effect of all hypnosis is in its ability to alter your beliefs on a certain subject. While this might not sound highly transformative on the face of it, it can actually be enough to completely change your life in the right circumstances.

How To Achieve Success In Life - The Best Key Thoughts For Unlocking Your Full Potential

Isn't being successful in life what most of us are after? I mean how to achieve success in life by living out your passions!

Being successful in life was a topic that I have updated and re-purposed, and since these keys discussed made such an interesting and informative subject I promised readers I 'd include it in today's article.

And a special head's up at the end you won't want to miss!

OMG, I just love clear sunny days! It's not just that the clear skies make me feel better, I can pop out of my house and soak up the little bit of Vitamin D that eventually soaks through the clouds

It's that buzz in the air of people being in better moods and being successful in life.

It's about everyday people trying to succeed and stay positive, and I mean this season can also come with a bit of a slump.

It's harder to get yourself to work at the pace you are used to.

I've discovered that if I shift my focus a little bit during those clearer days, I can still get a ton done, move forward projects that have been sitting around waiting for my attention all year, AND have a fun time relaxing with my friends and family.

Being successful in life is all about shifting HOW you work, WHAT you are working on, and WHO you are being during this season.

The Course in Miracles states, "The happy learner can not feel guilty about learning."

Sunny and bright days can be both about learning, productivity AND play!

Here's some great keys for being successful in life and truly achieving your dreams:

Please note that these are my favorite keys for being successful in life and why I'm suggesting them for you.

Keep in mind that just because I do recommend all 3 of these keys, doesn't mean you have to dive in head first into all 3, unless you're like me who is always wanting to move quick and learn up all I can.

If you're the type that likes to get your feet wet first before diving in, then choose just use one of the keys for now, see how it suits you, and then go for the others while on your path to being successful in life.

Remember, the Course in Miracles further teaches, "What you experience you will make manifest."

1st Key Thought: Maximizing Your Life

Ways to Live Life on Your Own Terms is a thought process that is one of my most favorites for connecting with the future of your dreams and being successful in life, that will create an energy aligned with the Universal Intellect.

You must learn to let the Law of Attraction work for you! I've seen this key thought alone absolutely change people's lives!

This thought process will help you with a mind for success, while living your "WHY", as you begin attracting wellness and wealth.

Miracles, not magic!

While I was in a down period, I forced myself to dive into the first key of thought, and within a week I found a way to launch a co-working group that I joined within minutes of seeing the opportunity.

It's been so great!

One, because they were offering a crazy good opportunity, and two, because sitting down for dedicated periods to get things done helps me move huge projects forward.

I learned to just pick a project that keeps getting put off, show up and TRUST my inner heart, and seemingly difficult things easily gets done.

It's like the Course in Miracles teaches, "When you have learned how to decide from your heart, all decisions become as right and easy as breathing."

2nd Key Thought: Miracle Mindedness

Learning to think "Miracle minded for life" (not magic) can be inspiring, powerful, uplifting and grabbing types of thoughts.

Try to learn more today about creating the life you deserve, that is detailed and filled, and life changing!

No kidding, this way for thinking will transform you.

This key set of thoughts has helped me create really powerful connections, while organizing thousands of people at a time to move through a challenge.

A better question is, who has helped me mastermind and setup these amazing automations to give my audience such a great experience? When I first decided to think "Miracle minded" I had no idea how powerful it was (and frankly no idea where I 'd be heading).

This way for thinking showed me what it could do, how to get moving forward in my dreams and bring them to reality!

There are some wonderful books and audio/videos that you can research for getting you crystal clear on your goals and a strategy to bring your vision to life!

Again, like the Course in Miracles principles teach, "Decide that your true free will is right, and is how you create in this world.".

3rd Key Thought: How to Think Like those Being Successful in Life.

Tell yourself that you want to "Have a billionaire's brain," can be a great way to begin thinking, I guess we may say?

Everyone at the top has been there, and everyone has success secrets.

Do some research and see how the most successful on the planet use "Easy to profit solutions." And learn from the "Fall" of the most successful, and how they overcame it and got back on their feet.

One book I read shows the value of mindfulness meditation and exercises to get you on a path to wealth and abundance in your life.

I must say, there's a lot of information available, all you gotta do is do the research.

4th Key Thought: Coming Soon.

You may know that challenges are the primary way many successful people build their businesses.

They want to help you grow your impact, following, and client/customer base in a way that feels great and truly supports others. They love writing about their success stories.

You can learn how to see your audience taking actions, moving forward, and experiencing positive changes in their lives.

It can be SO much fun.

Many have grown their followers and business through challenges for the past few years, and moved by leaps doing it. Many now have thousands of people taking challenges and still have managed to make it an intimate, connected, and powerful experience.

I've finally given into all the requests to help YOU make your own challenge AND harness the principles that drive great challenges, so your challenge can have the greatest impact on your audience (and your business!).

Bottom line is, keep a close eye on what's available and what you feel comfortable with, and as my articles progress I hope to be announcing some more key thoughts for you to research.

After all, it's about being successful in life, and, with lots of love!

Right?

To your success in life!

How to Use Affirmations to Make Profound Impacts in Your Daily Life

Every morning you wake up, write down an affirmation in your handy notebook and leverage it to make good impacts throughout your day. How would you do that? Read on to find out.

Here are some examples of affirmations and the results they can produce:

1) I strengthen my relationships one level higher both at the home and work fronts

When you write the above affirmation in your notebook, it leaves an imprint in your mind. And it is the very thing that goes about making the affirmation a reality throughout the day. For instance, you pass a good compliment to a co-worker at work. You make her happy and you yourself become happy. Then you get a call from your hubby and you greet him well and also help him solve the problem he is having at hand. And you both become happier in the process. Therefore, the chain of joy and goodness goes on all along.

2) I can figure out the problem of finding my life direction

Once you have it written early in the morning, it gets ingrained in your brain. And it goes about giving you hints and signs about what actions to take to move forward and in what direction. Take little steps. For instance, you meet a friend on the way to shopping and she excitedly tells you that the novel she wrote has become a bestseller on Amazon and New York Times. That gives you an edge. You start wondering if writing is your cup of tea and you finally make a choice and go about taking further little steps until you reach your desired new goal.

2) I can improve the wellness of my family

Once you write the above affirmation after waking up from a good night's sleep, like before, your mind will start to influence the events that take place thereafter. For instance, when you go to pick up your kids from their school, you meet there a nutritionist mother you have talked to before. She starts talking about tips on health and fitness. And you ask if there is a good book you could buy regarding the topic. And in return, she gives you a free copy of her book on your desired topic that she has authored recently. While you benefit from the book, she wants you to promote it in your neighborhood and community. The book is an asset to you because as you read the tips and start applying them to your life directly, you actually improve the wellness of your family.

4) I can solve the puzzle of my complex work project

Again writing the above affirmation in your notebook before heading for work, your mind gropes for ways to help you with your problem. There is something you don't understand about your project. Who could help? While you are still working hard at it at your workplace, a colleague passes by to invite you to her fiftieth birthday party after work at the nearby restaurant. You remember that she had completed a similar work project in the past and you immediately take the opportunity to ask her about a piece of the puzzle in your project. She is able to help you out as she is more knowledgeable and skilled than you. You have a puzzle piece solved and you work on the rest of the pieces in order to integrate them together into a solution. Doing everything by yourself is almost always impossible, you gather and so if the older lady could help you out, you can take a little help from other good cooperative colleagues as well from time to time.
Summing up, affirmations could come to use in the above profound ways and you never know how they will lead you to unlock your problems and open up the mysteries behind them and materialize them through interesting solutions.

Tips To Create Whole Life Empowerment

Your daily diligence to the eight important factors in your life to attain wholeness and wellness might seem more challenging sometimes than others. The eight important factors include: Emotional, Spiritual, Mental Agility, Relationships, Social, Physical, Financial and Career.

Although, you might feel challenged with one or more factors, you need to focus on easy-to-implement solutions that allow you to assuage your concerns directly. This might mean spending less money to ensure you have the resources to deal with unexpected needs, or taking on new obligations in an effort to prove yourself in your workplace or your business.

When you focus on easy-to implement solutions you will feel increasingly less challenged as your day progresses, because you feel empowered when you have a workable solution. Furthermore, you are ensuring your Self that the factors in your life are manageable.

When you accept that life wellness encompasses not only your physical and mental health, but also the stability you build through your choices you are empowered. True healthfulness can only exist in your life when you are willing to take on stewardship of all factors of your existence, which you might otherwise view as an outside the realm of your control.

Accepting that you have the power to foster a sense of security-by working diligently to create the life you truly desire-allows you to eliminate the fear and worry that once encompassed a large portion of your experiences. Your prudence and thoughtfulness to all factors in your life become tools you can utilize to restore serenity and empowerment anytime you are faced with a twist or turn. Thus, the old anxiousness or worry is sidestepped with ease, because you address the issue in a practical and empowered manner. Your previous pattern of anxiousness or worry has dissipated and therefore has no power to interfere with your ongoing feelings of empowerment and wellness.

Moving Mountains With Placebo

Person Standing on Top of Rock

When we go to the doctor it is because we are unwell and want to get better. Once there, we feel that now the doctor will take it from there. We go with faith and a hope to get better. This is the first step. The doctor writes the prescription and we pop the pills, no questions asked, thinking these will help us get better. They actually do. Research says that placebo effect works. But what fascinates me is that how amazing it is that by mere thinking something is true, your whole psychology and physiology starts to work in that one direction. You actually start to feel better.

Well, if this can work on an illness, why can't it work in other real life situations where mere believing can send a message to the universe that, "I want this, start working in my favor." Your mind and body are living in a state where they believe that good things are going to happen. They don't even think about the other option, not even once. This can be a great force in making things happen and motivating oneself to achieve a goal which at one point seemed unattainable.

But having said all that, there is one hitch. This is where the truth lies. "What do you want?" If you apply the placebo effect to your mind for every situation, you should understand that merely wanting and believing is not enough, what you believe also matters. Having malicious intentions or wanting something that you feel you don't truly deserve will not trigger your brain and mind in the way pure thoughts do. Wanting things like wellness, better health, a good quality life, love, companionship, financial security, respect, etc. are fully justified in life. We all deserve a good life. Therefore, wanting something that one should have anyways makes a strong case for you as there is no guilt factor.

We all know ourselves better than the world knows us. Keep your thoughts pure and then think about how you want to improve your life. Think about what aspects of your life need your attention and then apply the placebo effect. How do you do that? Well, it's simple. Just keep one thought in mind. If you feel that life isn't being fair, just believe that good things will happen, have faith, let yourself go and the universe take over. It's worth a try.

Mindfulness & Wellness

You're probably wondering what mindfulness and wellness, could possibly have to do with each other? And it is indeed a good question.

Somewhere in the early 70's, when the world was recovering from war and recession, there was some time to look around and be aware of the overall situation. Clinical psychologists noticed that people were far less attentive to their surroundings and almost oblivious to the things happening in their life with every passing second!

This may not seem like a problem when we talk on a second to second basis, but when we take into account an entire day or week or even months, it becomes a form of unconscious neglect. We start neglecting small things and soon we start neglecting important things. Mindfulness is a concept, appropriated from ancient Buddhist roots, and clinically innovated by Jon Kabat-Zinn. The idea of mindfulness involves being aware moment-to-moment, of one's subjective conscious experience from a first-person perspective. It involves having absolute focus on our actions and as someone wisely said, Actions have consequences!

With respect to wellness, mindfulness plays a very important role, considering that wellness depends on the fundamental principle, that one knows he is unwell.

So, with that simple idea in mind, let's begin.

Understanding Mindfulness

• Mindfulness is not as much about paying attention on the good things, as it is about not paying attention to the bad things. If there are ideas or thoughts that make you feel down and negative, it is important to keep in mind that you aren't supposed to be focused on them.

• Mindfulness connects areas of the brain that deals with the cognitive functions and attention. The process involves paying attention to the details and not missing out on important things.

• There is growing evidence that mindfulness can alter the brain and the resulting triggers "the relaxation response" that can turn sets of genes on or off.

• Making mindfulness part of your life can be life changing and your health and general wellbeing will greatly benefit from it.

If we look at it from a logical point of view, it makes absolute sense that mindfulness and wellness make complete sense.

Example:

You fall sick and go to the doctor. You're diagnosed with flu. Easy, get your dose of antibiotics and drink plenty of water. You'll be spick and span before you know it!

But take a quick rewind, to the week right before you fell sick and went to the doctor.
Remember that discomfort in your throat? The one you cleared by drinking water?
And then there was the time you sneezed. Not once, a few times every hour. That was ignored since you blamed it on the pollution.

If you follow the chain, you'll find another hundred small symptoms that led to the eventual disease. And that is when you realise you've been neglecting the signals.

Another example:

You failed your math test. You're absolutely sad and feel really bad about it. So you talk to your family and friends, spend a day or two crying it out. That is logical.

But then for some reason, you decide to keep talking about it. The most common among these habits, is the initial post mortem of the question paper! You'll do everything to spot that one error the teacher made.

If someone stops you, you justify it by saying, "I am learning from my mistakes!" Correction. That is not learning from your mistakes that is not being able to go past your mistakes.

Mindfulness, is about being aware of every single moment. Because each and every moment you are contributing to your wellness. Mindfulness focuses the human brain on what is being sensed every moment, instead of on its normal rumination on the past or on the future. Although science doesn't have all the answers yet about the relationship between mindfulness and wellness, it is thorough that the physical changes in the brain have a direct influence on improved health.

Impact of Mindfulness on Wellness

1. Avoid stress

When we are mindful of each and every moment, we are in control of our mind. This control allows us to avoid unnecessary stress and worry. We learn to take things as they come.

2. Better Productivity

Mindful people, on record show better productivity than people who keep focusing on their past or their future too much. Those who live in the present and enjoy it, win.

3. Better Health

Overall health gets the undivided attention it needs. As discussed in one of the examples, when we live life worrying about everything, we ignore or neglect the things here and now. Mindfulness ensures that we pay more attention to our health.

4. Increases Mental Acuity

Mindfulness is not simply about awareness, it also includes observation. So when you are mindful, you are also being acutely observant of all the things around you. This increases mental acuity.

5. Helps with Coping

When we are mindful, we cope better with things. We become aware of what affects us and in what way. This leads us to avoid negativity and heal faster.

Mindfulness has been used in psychotherapy as a tool to deal with mental stress, tensions, anxiety and a whole host of other problems.

The truth is, we are all running. Running towards something, running away from something! But we are running. This chase has led us to a stage where we don't take a moment to stop and think, "This moment is never going to come back!"

We prepare for a future that is not promised and we think of a past which we cannot change. Instead, why not simply choose to live the present and be mindful of every moment? Sounds like a much better deal to me.

Good news is, with the advancement in technology, many Apps and tools have been created to help with mindfulness. If you want to be helped with relaxing faster, increasing your productivity, getting rid of stress and anxiety, and much more, this FREE 10 best Apps guide will help you greatly.

Elle Macpherson's Secrets To Looking Good & Feeling Great At Any Age

It’s hard not to have a wellness woman crush on Elle Macpherson. The 51-year-old beauty glows without a hint of makeup. She’s been strong before it became the new skinny. And she's passionate about making wellness easier and more accessible.
Elle’s a longtime entrepreneur who started the trend of models moving from the catwalk to the boardroom. For 20 years, she collaborated with Bendon Lingerie on an eponymous intimate apparel line, which was the best-selling brand in the UK. She's recently taken the helm of the collection, brought on a new partner, and is planning for an August launch in the U.S

Her latest entrepreneurial venture is WelleCo, a line of alkalizing powders and supplements with big ambitions to become a lifestyle wellness brand creating beauty, home products, and more. Her signature product, The Super Elixir, is part of the booming nutricosmetics trend, which is the idea of nutritious products promoting health and beauty from within.
When I first met the native Aussie in her adopted hometown of Miami, the conversation spanned everything from pH strips (Elle's a fan), to where to get the best green juice in Miami (we concur that it's Jugo Fresh), to the stress of college admissions (she's a mom).
Here, she shares the tips and tricks that have guided her personally and professionally since her catwalk days and that are guiding her at WelleCo. Elle also shares her morning breakfast shake, which has just three ingredients.

A Q&A With The Well Model

Do you have a morning ritual?
I wake up 45 minutes to an hour before I need to get up. Before anything, I drink 500 mls of water and then I sit quietly with my back straight in a chair in the semi-darkness. I have a 33-day program of daily meditation that includes breathing and focus on a particular quality or value I would like to improve.
Sometimes, I do a guided meditation. I also read from a selection of books. I love to have a program pre-mapped out because I find it easier to stick to it over a longer period of time. Sometimes my practice will take as little as 10 minutes to complete. Sometimes I like to spend 40 minutes.
Any rules that you live by for a healthy body, mind, and soul?
Love, peace, happiness, and fulfillment — I make sure my choices support these intentions. If it doesn't fit, I don't persist.
What advice would you give your twenty-something self?
Wear sunscreen! A regret from when I was younger was that I didn’t protect my skin from the sun — even though I think I look better with a tan. I have plenty of freckles all over my body, and I haven’t done anything about it.
There’s no point in doing lasers because I’m in the sun all the time anyway, but I think sunblock is really important now. Always 50+ SPF. When I’m not in a bikini, I’ll wear surf leggings to protect my skin.

Best advice you've ever received?
Find co-dreamers who support your vision.
And the worst advice?
Models can't move from the billboard to the boardroom.
What do you love about being an entrepreneur?
I love the unexpected twists and turns on the journey as I realize my vision. It can feel daunting at times, challenging myself or taking steps forward into new territory, and I fear of the unknown.
But I don’t need to know the outcome. I just need to keep taking steps toward my goals that support my core values and intentions.
I love the saying "leap and watch the net appear."
Any go-to-supplements?
Without fail I take my daily Alkalising Greens. It is packed with goodness to boost nutrition, keep my body in an alkaline range and my energy levels up.
If I want to lighten up or I am looking for a nutritious snack, my Super Elixir Nourishing Protein is a winner. I use it as a meal replacement and a clean source of vegan protein if I am on-the-go. My favorite Breakfast Thick Shake recipe is below.
That’s it! I like to keep it simple — quality over quantity.

How do you break a sweat?
I make exercise part of my everyday life. I have a much simpler and gentler routine now. I prefer not to go to the gym; instead, I make sure I find at least 45 minutes in my day, usually for a sport outdoors, which is easy in Miami. I love to paddleboard, surf, swim, or water ski. I also love to hike or bike. I am more likely to stick to something I love and that fits into my life.
How has your health and wellness routine changed over time?
I’ve learned that an acidic body is out of balance. Today’s diet of processed food, sugar, alcohol, too much red meat, dairy, and coffee (especially for me!), combined with stress and lack of sleep can affect the way the body functions.
Why did you start WelleCo?
I was run down, stressed, gaining weight, and just feeling not good. Dr. Simone Laubscher introduced me to the concept of an alkaline diet, and it wasn’t until then that I hadn't really understood that my body was deprived from good nutrition and that my seemingly healthy lifestyle was actually acidic. And through nutrition, I was able to put my body back into an alkaline state and I felt better. I thought to myself,If I do most things right and I feel this bad, then what must it be like for everyone else who doesn't look after themselves? We created THE SUPER ELIXIR based on Dr. Laubscher’s years of practice as an easy, efficient, all-in-one, high-grade solution to getting back on the right track to wellness and feeling good on the inside.

The Advantage Of Hypnotherapy For Overall Wellness

When it comes to health and wellness, more and more people today are actually investing their time and money just to make sure that they stay fit and healthy. This is very important especially if you want to be more productive in your work. The business world is getting more and more competitive. And so, you must be ready to face all the challenges thrown at you.

However, you cannot actually work well if you do not feel well. You need to make sure that your body is fit and healthy to take all the challenges at work. Stress is the enemy; the pressure to perform and be the best is strong for a lot of folks. You often work long hours and you don't get enough sleep because of the responsibilities you need to stay on top of, and as you continue to climb up the corporate ladder, your overall quality of life suffers.

Many recognise this, and so they turn to wellness facilities to help them restore life balance and effectively manage stress. And one way to help you gain overall wellness is through hypnotherapy. Hypnotherapy may sound new to most people but this is actually practiced for so many decades already. The demand for wellness services is inspiring a lot of young people to get into the industry, not only because jobs here pay rather well, but also because there is a desire to help such a weary generation. Universities still offer the usual courses that probe into people's mental health. These courses are not just about creating an understanding of the different variables of mental health; they are also designed to really help people live their lives with greater happiness and freedom, which stress, quite effectively, diminishes.

Hypnotherapy is a fast rising choice of treatment for destructive habits, anxiety attacks, and other often debilitating inclinations/conditions some people have. Hypnotherapy has proven effective in helping people deal with post-traumatic stress disorder, painful childhood, odd habits (like toenail biting, hair eating, et cetera), and many others. The accredited courses on hypnotherapy are particularly ideal for treatment or rehabilitation facilities that wish to expand their service menu.

It is really very advantageous to opt for natural wellness solutions such as hypnotherapy. And taking courses that will help you provide wellness services is a smart move. Indeed, these educational programs are helping the wellness industry expand. They offer a fresh take on psychological issues and provide people more options to become happier with life.

Meet Your Second Brain: The Gut

How what's going on in your gut could be affecting your brain.

Most of us can relate to the experience of having butterflies in our stomach, or to a visceral gut-wrenching feeling, and how often are we told not to ignore our “gut-instinct” or “gut-feeling” when making a decision.
Even from our simple slang, it’s clear just how symbolically connected the gut is to our emotions. Now, there’s tangible proof to support these popular metaphors.

We all have a microbiome, and they are as unique as our neural pathways

Research has shown that the body is actually composed of more bacteria than cells. We are more bug than human! Collectively, these trillions of bacteria are called the microbiome. Most of those bacteria reside in our gut, sometimes referred to as the gut microbiota, and they play multiple roles in our overall health.
The gut is no longer seen as an entity with the sole purpose of helping with all aspects of digestion. It’s also being considered as a key player in regulating inflammation and immunity.
A healthy gut consists of different iterations of bacteria for different people, and this diversity maintains wellness. A shift away from “normal” gut microbiota diversity is called dysbiosis, and dysbiosis may contribute to disease. In light of this, the microbiome has become the focus of much research attention as a new way of understanding autoimmune, gastrointestinal, and even brain disorders.
The benefit of a healthy gut is illustrated most effectively during early development. Research has indicated just how sensitive a fetus is to any changes in a mother’s microbiotic makeup, so much so that it can alter the way a baby’s brain develops. If a baby is born via cesarean section, it misses an opportunity to ingest the mother’s bacteria as it travels down the vaginal canal. Studies show that those born via c-section have to work to regain the same diversity in their microbiome as those born vaginally. Throughout our lives, our microbiome continues to be a vulnerable entity, and as we are exposed to stress, toxins, chemicals, certain diets, and even exercise, our microbiome fluctuates for better or worse.

The gut as second brain

Our gut microbiota play a vital role in our physical and psychological health via its own neural network: the enteric nervous system (ENS), a complex system of about 100 million nerves found in the lining of the gut.
The ENS is sometimes called the “second brain,” and it actually arises from the same tissues as our central nervous system (CNS) during fetal development. Therefore, it has many structural and chemical parallels to the brain.
Our ENS doesn’t wax philosophical or make executive decisions like the gray shiny mound in our skulls. Yet, in a miraculously orchestrated symphony of hormones, neurotransmitters, and electrical impulses through a pathway of nerves, both “brains” communicate back and forth. These pathways include and involve endocrine, immune, and neural pathways.
At this point in time, even though the research is inchoate and complex, it is clear that the brain and gut are so intimately connected that it sometimes seems like one system, not two.

Our emotions play a big role in functional gastrointestinal disorders

Given how closely the gut and brain interact, it has become clear that emotional and psychosocial factors can trigger symptoms in the gut. This is especially true in cases when the gut is acting up and there’s no obvious physical cause.
The functional gastrointestinal disorders (FGIDs) are a group of more than 20 chronic and hard to treat medical conditions of the gastrointestinal tract that constitute a large proportion of the presenting problems seen in clinical gastroenterology.
While FGID’s were once thought to be partly “in one’s head,” a more precise conceptualization of these difficulties posits that psychosocial factors influence the actual physiology of the gut, as well as the modulation of symptoms. In other words, psychological factors can literally impact upon physical factors, like the movement and contractions of the GI tract, causing, inflammation, pain, and other bowel symptoms.

Mental health impacts gut wellness

In light of this new understanding, it might be impossible to heal FGID’s without considering the impact of stress and emotion. Studies have shown that patients who tried psychologically based approaches had greater improvement in their symptoms compared with patients who received conventional medical treatment.
Along those lines, a new pilot study from Harvard University affiliates Benson-Henry Institute for Mind Body Medicine at Massachusetts General Hospital and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center found that meditation could have a significant impact for those with irritable bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. Forty-eight patients with either IBS or IBD took a 9-week session that included meditation training, and the results showed reduced pain, improved symptoms, stress reduction, and the change in expression of genes that contribute to inflammation.

Poor gut health can lead to neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders

Vice-versa, poor gut health has been implicated in neurological and neuropsychiatric disorders. Disturbances in gut health have been linked to multiple sclerosis, autistic spectrum disorders, and Parkinson’s disease. This is potentially related to pro-inflammatory states elicited by gut dysbiosis-microbial imbalance on or inside the body. Additional connections between age-related gut changes and Alzheimer’s disease have also been made.
Further, there is now research that is dubbing depression as an inflammatory disorder mediated by poor gut health. In fact, multiple animal studies have shown that manipulating the gut microbiota in some way can produce behaviors related to anxiety and depression. (Maes, Kubera, Leunis, Berk, J. Affective Disorders, 2012 and Berk, Williams, Jacka, BMC Med, 2013).
Our brain’s health, which will be discussed in more depth in a later blog post, is dependent on many lifestyle choices that mediate gut health; including most notably diet (i.e., reduction of excess sugar and refined carbohydrates) and pre and probiotic intake.

The brain-gut connection has treatment implications

We are now faced with the possibility of both prevention and treatment of neurological/neuropsychiatric difficulties via proper gut health. On the flip side, stress-reduction and other psychological treatments can help prevent and treat gastrointestinal disorders. This discovery can potentially lead to reduced morbidity, impairment, and chronic dependency on health care resources.
The most empowering aspect to the gut-brain connection is the understanding that many of our daily lifestyle choices play a role in mediating our overall wellness. This whole-body approach to healthcare and wellness continues to show its value in our longevity, well-being, and quality of life: that both physical and mental health go hand-in-hand.
