The True Meaning of Digging Deeper

What if I told you that you could have what you want in life, but you're going to have to work harder?

You wouldn't be too happy.

Perhaps you'd roll your eyes or give me an exasperated huff. You already work hard. How in the world can you work even harder? Where are you supposed to find the time and energy to keep working even harder?

Fair enough. Well, what if I told you that I acknowledged that you're working hard, but you're focusing on the wrong place, and you need to start digging deep in the right place.

Did I at least pique your curiosity?

Not Digging in the Right Place

If you feel that you're not where you're supposed to be in your life, or you want to achieve more, there might be something you haven't yet considered. You can have all of the money in the world and have nothing. On the flip side, you can have no material riches and yet be supremely wealthy.

The difference between the person who is wealthy and the one who is merely rich has to do with the first person's inner world. By that I mean how someone works to improve him or herself.

Exercising Yourself

Think about it this way. If you're someone who works out at the gym, why do you do it? You probably do it to stay healthy. And, on those days when you don't want to head to the gym, or it's taking everything out of you to do another ten minutes, you do it anyway.

Why?

You've conditioned your mind to know that you have to do it to stay healthy.

So, my question to you is this: if you know you have to work your body to stay fit and healthy, what would ever make you think that you don't have to work your mind and emotional world to maintain a peak condition?

What It Takes

Physical fitness is crucial to a long life and success. If you're not physically healthy, the machine that is our bodies will eventually begin to breakdown. It's not a matter of "if," it's only a matter of "when."

The same goes for our minds and whatever is your passion. We live in a world that seems like it wants you to break the sound barrier every day. But somehow, in the midst of all of the pressure, you have to find a way to keep your mind in top shape. One of the ways I do it each day is to limit my time on social media and listening to the news.

What are you going to miss?

The reality is that social media is fun, but only in small doses. And, the news, well, we all know it's full of rage and negativity. Review the headlines, but there's no reason to spend more than five or ten minutes a day.

So, what of your emotional well-being?

How do you nurture and create an inner space for yourself? You do it, again daily, by cultivating it.

You do whatever makes you happy and gives you an emotional "lift." You can paint, meditate, read a book, spend some time in nature, create some alone time in your home--away from the noise and everyone, etc. In other words, you create a daily space inside of your life that speaks to who you are as an individual. There's only one you in the world, and it's all there ever was or ever will be.

Endgame

So, what's the endgame? Did you know that in 66 days you can create a habit? Want to know how to be wealthy beyond measure? It's simple. Make time for yourself, even when you don't think you have the time. I'll challenge and tell you that when you think you don't have the time, that is in fact when you have to find the inner space within you.

Find a space to think and develop your mind for no other purpose than for enhancing your mental awareness and peace.

Find a place in your day to create a space--start with only 5 minutes and grow from there slowly--where you simply unplug from everything and everyone to develop your inner self.

Working your body at the gym is important, but here's the deal. The reality is that it's not just about your body. You have to work out your mind and emotional world in equal measure.

And that, my friend, is the true meaning of digging deeper and working harder.
