Isn't it strange, how one word has the ability to change the way we approach things?
There are 4 kinds of people in this world.
The first are the ones who believe, that in order to succeed in life you need to do pure hard work. Then there is this second kind who believe that we need a luck factor to kick in. Then there are those who believe that we need both, good luck and hard work.
I think most are familiar with these. But then I recently came across the fourth kind. The people who believe, that neither hard work nor good luck can help you succeed. You can only succeed... if you are DESTINED to!
Yes! There are some people who believe that if you aren't destined to succeed, you never will. Which may or may not be true, depending on whether you believe in writing your own destiny! Sure, there may be a host of things that could go wrong and you never know what all hurdles you'll face?
Success is never final, nor promised is it?
Nobody ever gives you 100% guaranteed success, without a tiny caption of *conditions apply"!
But to me all that is mere talk. As far as I am concerned, life is your notebook. You get to choose, whether you want to write history or make paper planes. You have a battle and you have everything you need to fight it. Why involve an invisible force? As long as I am alive and able to stand on my own two feet, I can do whatever I want right?
I mean to say, I would never let anything stop me from achieving whatever I want, no matter how many obstacles I face! If I fall 8 times, I'll get back up 9 times. I won't rest till destiny hands me the pen and says, "Go ahead! Make the changes!"
Feel something? A strange rise in the pit of your stomach? A warmth running over your body, as you imagine the endless possibilities if you decide to go ahead and live your dreams? Any fireworks??
Yes. Say hello to Inspiration!
What better way to talk about something, than to show you exactly what it is and how it is done? Less talk, more action, right? Keeping that in mind, today let's dive right into what exactly this inspiration is, where to find it!
What is Inspiration?
'Inspiration is the inner drive or force that makes a person do or make anything. Something, or even someone, who motivates you enough to go ahead and achieve whatever you set out to, is called an inspiration.'
Inspiration is highly subjective. It differs greatly from person to person. It is not at all necessary that two people who are moving towards the same goal, will find inspiration through the same person or thing. One man's food might be another man's poison.
Also, inspiration can come at any time and from anywhere. It's one of those things, where you won't know what hit you! Following are just some of the most common inspirations one hears about on a day-to-day basis.
• Books
• People (could be the president or could be your dad!)
• Money
• Movies
• Stories
• Country (to a soldier or a nationalist or a patriot or even a common citizen)
There could be another million things in this list. So don't worry if these things don't inspire you.
Now, moving on to the next part.
Where can one find Inspiration?
The following places/things are where you are most likely to find inspiration.
• In your day-to-day life
• In your work related things
• At the source of your mission
Let's start at the end.
When I say source of the mission, I mean the very foundation. The fundamental reason why you began moving towards a particular goal, is the best place to look for inspiration.
Why?
Because that's where you found it in the first place!
When you began the journey, someone or something made you feel driven enough to start. So then why not just go back and look for it? In fact, the second time you'll find it even more inspiring! Because it will hit you twice as hard.
There is a saying, "To solve a problem, you need to get to its root!" Here the problem is a lack of inspiration. So go back to the root and find it.
Now we can move to the second point; in your work related things.
For a large number of people, it takes a lot of effort to stay inspired after going through the same routine all the time. Which is understandable. But remember, if you really hated what you do, you'd either get frustrated or quit OR you'd mess it up unconsciously and end up getting fired.
But if neither of those things have occurred and you still can't seem to stay inspired, take a good look around you. Somewhere in the whole situation, you'll find something that will remind you what you loved about the job in the first place. Moreover, it could also give you some new reasons to be inspired!
Then coming to reason number 1; in your day-to-day life.
To be completely honest, we miss out so many inspiring things that happen in front of our eyes, every single day! It often amazes me how negligent we've become over time. Take a good look around you every day. I can guarantee you, you will find something inspiring.
Be it the street kids playing in the summer heat, while we complain in our air-conditioned offices and cars or the arrogant boss, who screams at his employees for being late, but never leaves work, till the last employee has gone for the day.
Keep your eyes open; you'll be amazed at what all you've been missing!
To this end, I leave you with the words of actress Mae West -
"You only live once. But if you do it right, once is enough!"
