Impacts of Stress

Every living being in the world often experiences stress. It is basically a physical response of the brain and the body to any potential threat or demand.
When your body feels the potential of stress it releases a complex mix of hormones and chemicals causing a number of reactions in the body. These reactions could be your knees and hands getting shaky; your palms get sweaty, and your heartbeat and breathing getting faster. These reactions are caused due to the release of a hormone called adrenaline which temporarily affects your nervous system. Some people can recover from stressful events more quickly than others. A stress reaction may be a one-time event, for short period of time or can frequently be happening over a long period of time. You might experience stress from day to day activities, like the pressure of work, school, family, divorce, illness, events like an accident, natural disaster etc.

However, stress can be life-saving in some situations:

• Stressful situations lead to the release of chemicals which can give you a boost of energy, which also enables you to focus your attention so you can react quickly to the situation.
• The quickness of pulse, faster breathing, use of more oxygen and increased activity in your brain are all aimed at your body to prepare to face a threat.
• The stress response can help you perform well under pressure. It can help you mount to a challenge; focus and can boost your energy. It is a part of learning and growing up.
• It can also motivate you while preparing or performing certain tasks like take a test or an interview for a new job.

Everyone is exposed to stressful situations in their lifetime. How an individual copes with it can lead to a wide variety of health problems.

• If the stress response goes on for a long period of time it is called chronic stress which can hamper your health. During chronic stress, the mixed hormones and chemicals get released rapidly. These can suppress the immune system, sleep, digestion and reproductive system.
• A longer period of stress can release chemicals which can leave a person to feeling tired or overwhelmed.
• People who suffer from stress for long durations of time can become sick, unable to concentrate or think and even suffer from mental breakdowns.
• Chronic stress can cause one to drink too much alcohol or intake of nicotine which can increase your blood pressure and may damage the artery walls.

The continued strain of stress in your body can cause mental disorders like depression or anxiety.

Conclusion:
We should all take steps to manage stress so that it does not impact our health. There are different methods such as Yoga, meditation, etc. which help to alleviate stress.

Freedom of the Mind and Soul Intelligence

Attention, Distraction, and True Freedom

We are endowed by our Creator with freedom of the mind. Our mind creates our reality. As a whole, humanity has lost its ability to see the connection with aspects of consciousness, primarily thoughts and feelings, and the experiences and circumstances in our lives. Through Divine Grace and intervention, we are now re-awakening to our true creative powers.

This is an opportunity to reassess our lives and our world and to change whatever it is that does not resonate with our true being. We can put an end to suffering. We can put an end to poverty and debt. We can put an end to illusions and experiences of lack. We can experience optimum health.

Humanity as a whole and each of us individually is experiencing cognitive dissonance, or stress, when we are not in alignment with our true power of mind.

By becoming aware of our inherent freedom of the mind, how to reclaim it, and how to harness its creative powers, we can be set free to create and experience our lives and our world according to our true hearts' desires. We can experience abundance and fulfillment. We can tap into the power of our soul, know truth, and consciously direct our minds. We can discover our individual gifts and put meaning and purpose into our lives using the creative freedom that is our birthright. This is Universal Order and it will bring peace and harmony to our planet.

Through societal conditioning, our values and awareness has become skewed. Our minds have been like ping pong balls, bouncing here and there, directed and re-directed through outer forces. We have not retained the awareness of the power of our minds and hearts. We have relinquished our individual sovereignty. We have become distracted from purposeful living. We have developed the belief that life is happening to us rather than through us. We have devolved to victim consciousness.

Time to Reclaim Freedom of the Mind

The first principle to understand when reclaiming freedom of the mind is the conscious direction of attention. Normally, we direct our attention outwardly most of the time. Unless we meditate or contemplate regularly, our awareness is observing outer reality. We need to spend regular period of time directing our attention inwardly to access the power of our soul-our true self. By tapping into our inner wisdom we apprehend truth. We become empowered by our essential nature of spirit. We receive guidance and direction for our lives and we discover our individual gifts and reason for being.

What we place our attention on is where our energy goes. It also programs our memory. If we become conscious of what we are doing with our attention and the impact it has on our life, we can become inspired to make some beneficial changes.

Societal conditioning has occurred by design. If we can be deceived to give up our freedom of the mind, then others can control us. They can usurp our personal power, and they can greedily accumulate the world's wealth of resources through selfish motives and deceptive strategies. It's been happening for a very long time. Technologies are being used in harmful ways that destroy, rather than support, life on our planet. There is much to be brought into our awareness here so that we can rise above it. We can learn to succeed with true values and by using our greater inner technologies.

There has been purposeful programming of our subconscious minds through commercials that contain subliminal messages and symbols. There has been values programming by making us believe our being and our value is determined by what we have. Our perceptions are manipulated to serve the few rather than the greater good of the whole. Waking up to the truth about these issues will help to impress the importance of the changes we need to make to become empowered by freedom of the mind once again.

Geoengineering, H.A.A.R.P., the pharmaceutical drug push, media manipulation through narratives, weather warfare, biowarfare, radiation, and EMF waves from cell phone technologies that are meant to harm or destroy us have no power over us if we master our own minds and vibration. The frequencies of love are scientifically proven to provide better health and welfare. Attune to the frequencies of Earth by going out into nature. Understand the Schumann resonance factor for your health and well-being. Your mind will respond. Your body will become healthy.

Distraction

Distraction is a method of capturing attention and energy. Have you ever had a goal or something you wanted to accomplish and then got distracted? What did you do to eliminate distractions to accomplish your goal? Have you ever "set your mind" to get something done, and then did it?

Imagine eliminating all distractions and focusing your attention on your intended outcomes. Practice setting some intentions and then focus your attention on achieving it, use your mind (attention), your heart (feelings of passion), and your body (physical action) to accomplish your goal. Inside you will feel the intrinsic value (joy, happiness, peace) of being in alignment with your True Self.

Awareness is not a matter of ignoring the truth. It simply places the negative effects of what has been created into the periphery vision of the mind, moving into the causal nature of the mind and whole consciousness, to create something better. No, awareness is powerful. We just can't dwell on things that are negative without having in mind what we are going to replace it with. We are becoming conscious creators.

True Freedom

We can experience true freedom by attuning to our inner core-to our soul self through our heart with inward attention. This attunement is a calibration of consciousness. It connects us to the genius intelligence within. It is where we know that we are essence of love. Infinite, undivided, whole.

It is time for humanity to collectively regain control of our own of minds and be free.. Suffering cannot continue. Oppressive forces cannot remain hidden and attempt to control our minds for us.

Individually we must make the choice and the effort to regain control of our mind. We can do this through conscious attention direction, elimination of distractions, and focusing our attention on solutions provided through the intelligence of the soul.

Let us master our minds and be free!

This is a great time in human history. We are free to create a peaceful world through unity consciousness. We are all waking up together to realize what we focus our attention on determines our vibration and our reality is created by our thoughts. We are understanding our potential now, and we are empowered!

What Stress Can Do To You

fear, psychology, anxiety, scared, depression, thoughts, emotion ...

Everyone experiences a certain amount of stress in their lives. Some stress some of the time is normal.

In fact, since our prehistoric origins, the stress response has been vital for motivating us to react during times of crisis.

Today, we are not literally dealing with "hunt or be hunted" on a regular basis, although, there are certainly times that may feel that way!

Our stress hormones can help us to meet strict timelines, and deal with situations we find difficult in our daily lives.

Physical

The physical way we experience stress can vary. Some individuals become extremely irritable with their family members and coworkers.

Others describe a vice-like feeling of tightness in their chest or shoulders that makes it hard to breathe. Many people report cardiovascular issues like a racing heart and profuse sweating.

Some individuals suffer excruciating headaches or joint and muscle stiffness.

Gastrointestinal issues may be experienced, like severe stomach pains and diarrhea. Stress and negative emotions often go hand in hand with poor physical health.

Experiencing emotional stress jump starts the production of cortisol.

If this happens on regular basis the excess cortisol begins to break down the body's neurological, gastrointestinal, musculoskeletal and immune systems.

Emotional

Often, it is the emotional side of stress that we initially experience. It is our body's way of warning us "Hey, I'm not OK here... pay attention."

Unfortunately, many people have become accustomed to ignoring the seriousness of messages from their inner selves. They prefer to self-medicate, or deny their stress altogether. These are dangerous habits to get into.

Society has taught us, particularly men, that feeling and expressing feelings is wrong. Denying your feelings can make things much worse.

Chronic or unrelenting stress, if ignored, can manifest as a physical response in the body in the form of illness, or emotionally as depression.

Left unchecked, stress can be very damaging to a person's health. This will compound the problem. This can lead to adverse effects on other aspects of a person's life.

If you find yourself experiencing any of these signs, stop and reflect. Review your life and your priorities to eliminate, or at least reduce, some of your stressors.

Symptoms of stress such as acne, bald patches and dry skin may be visible and obvious. Although the mental and emotional damage may not be visible, their effects on self and loved ones usually are.

If your stress levels are left untreated, you are likely to develop even more serious health problems such as heart disease, obesity and depression.

Message From the Universe: You Are Loved by Many!

"I had a dream last night that I was you. Doing all of your favorite things, with all of your favorite people, in all of your favorite places. I also dreamed that I was all of your favorite people.

Do you have any idea of how much each one of them loves you?

I didn't think so,
The Universe"

Imagine the Universe is choosing you as an example among the other 7.1 billion people living in this planet or even the other quadrillions living in parallel universes. I guess the Universe sees you as someone very very very special. You are walking in the right path, even though, at times, you may not feel like you are. You are working day and night, not sure if whatever you do will render the results you expect. The mystery is eating you up inside because of all the uncertainties you are facing every day. You know you have the skills and knowledge, but sometimes, it may not be enough to get to where you want to go. Every morning, you pray and feed your mind with positive thoughts so you can hopefully achieve your goals. You stay focused and not let anyone or anything stops you in your tracks. You have the right mind set to reach your dreams. Stay on this path, because it is the Universe who put you there.

There is NO question that you are being seen as someone with many talents. The Universe knows that and until you realize that by yourself, this is when you will experience hurdles and obstacles along the way. Know that you are capable of everything and if the Universe can see that in you, I am sure you can do the same. Many signs are around you, and it is up to you to open your eyes and understand the reasons as to why they are there. Even though it may seem too good to be true, it is important to NOT search for complicated reasons as to why these signs are there to guide you. Come to realization that they are there to bring you back to the path you were meant to be in and redirect you to where you need to go. Just stop looking for complicated ways to achieve things in life, and learn to simplify it by accepting things the way they are.

Managing Stress to Perform at Your Best

I recently read an article by Dr. Travis Bradberry called "How Successful People Stay Calm." In it he says that your "ability to manage your emotions and to remain calm under pressure has a direct link to your performance." The vast majority of successful people have developed the skill to keep calm and carry on, as the British wrote in a motivational poster during World War II.

He pointed out that moderate levels of stress keep the brain engaged and keep us performing at optimal levels whereas prolonged, high levels of stress can be detrimental, increasing the risk of heart disease, depression and obesity. We can't control some stressors in our lives, but we can control how we react to them.

When traffic is unusually bad on your morning commute or when a patient is being extremely difficult, you can choose to become upset or you can choose to empathize with the other commuters or the patient and release your stress.

He listed a number of ways to reduce stress. One is to focus for a few minutes on your breathing while blocking other thoughts. Another is getting sufficient sleep each night to allow your brain not only to process the previous day's thoughts but also to allow it to recharge for the day ahead. Yet another is to limit caffeine intake since it triggers the release of adrenaline, which is the source of the "fight or flight" response.

You can fight stress by noting on a regular basis those things for which you are grateful. You can fight it by cutting out your negative self talk. When negative self-talk creeps in, you have to check to see if it is valid. If it isn't valid, forget it. If it is valid and is something you can change, change it. Don't dwell on the "what ifs." Instead, look for the positives.

I think we focus on problems because those are things that need our attention. If you write down a list of the things that are going well, things you are grateful for as well as a list of your worries, you'll likely see that your list of good things will be longer than your worries. It's calming to remind yourself of all of the things that are going your way.

You can also reduce stress by gorging on junk food and chocolate. Oh, wait, that wasn't in the article; forget that.

For the complete article and to read more about Dr. Bradberry, look for the Early to Rise website and search for "How Successful People Stay Calm."

When Someone Appreciates Everything About You (By Rosemarie Sumalinog Gonzales)

Love begins when someone appreciates everything about you that someone else took for granted. Never in my life have I ever imagine meeting someone who always wants what's best for me.

Falling in love again was never in my plan. Until one day I met a man who completes the emptiness I felt since my broken marriage. He made me feel special and appreciated. No one treat me like that because I am used to take of everybody and is not afraid of a burden of responsibility. I realized that this person means too much to me.

If somebody extremely loves you, notwithstanding what others say, then no one can alter that feeling. I'm a really robust believer that whoever is supposed to be in your life can continually gravitate back towards you, regardless however so much they wander. Sometimes the best relationships are those you ne'er expected to be in. The one's that sweep you off your feet and challenge each read you've ever had.

You can't blame gravity for falling stupid in love. No one is ideal till you fall gaga with them. I wasn't specifically positive once it happened. or maybe once it started. All I knew needless to say was that right here and right now, I used to be falling arduous and I may solemnly pray that he was feeling the same to me.

Love doesn't come with any warning signs. You have no time to accept what's happening. It's inevitable. an occurrence you can't manage. A crazy, heart-stopping, roller-coaster ride that simply has got to take its course. It's simple being in love once more.

Each day my love grows deeper, deeper than I ne'er thought before. I guess I am falling. Falling through time and everything in between. I grieve days and weeks and what felt like a period across lifetimes. I fell that a valuable moment is once the person who you have got fallen gaga with, appears to be feeling the same thing with you.

When you fall head over heels for somebody, you're not falling dotty with your plan of affection. Don't stop your heart from falling in love, it might be worthwhile. Once you tell somebody you're keen on them, you mechanically provide trust in them that they won't tear you apart. I feel that everything that was ME was him. My heart, mind and soul is one with HIM.

Love is straightforward. You fall and that's it. Although falling in love brings excitement and fulfillment; it also creates anxiety and fear of rejection and potential loss.

Remember that falling in love doesn't always result to brokenheartedness, With the right man, I am sure that it's a ticket to paradise.

Despite my broken heart, it made me realize immensely that I am still capable to love again far more intensely. To that someone special, you've been able to make me feel ways I thought I would never be able to feel again. Thank you!

Failure Is an Alpha's Best Friend

We tend to avoid failure and making mistakes at all costs, even at the greatest cost of all, which is not attempting anything in the first place because we are afraid to fail. Why are we afraid to fail, though? Is it truly because we don't want to feel like failures, or is it because we don't want others to see us as failures? We value the opinions of others so much more than our own that we are willing to put off our dreams, our goals and our happiness because other people whose opinions are meaningless might see us as failures, laugh at us, talk about us behind our backs or say, "I told you so".

So it is time to redefine failure. There has been a lot of talk about redefining failure, embracing failure and failure being a necessary part of the journey. When I was growing up, failure was the idea that you didn't achieve your goal the first time you tried. You tried and you succeeded, or you tried and you failed.

Unfortunately, most people never achieve a goal the first time they begin working towards it and if they do, chances are that goal was an easy one and they weren't aiming high enough because they underestimated how much they are actually capable of.

Failure is an inevitable experience along the path of success. The greatest business owners, the greatest athletes, they all experienced an incredible amount of failure before success: Steve Jobs was fired from his own company, the company he started, before being hired back six years later and turning Apple into a billion-dollar company. Howard Schultz of Starbucks stepped down as CEO for the good of the company, but then later returned. Michael Jordan once said, "I've failed over and over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed".

If failure is inevitable, then how can it be avoided? Of course, we want to foresee potential obstacles that will come up on the road to success, that is just good planning. I do this with my clients.

Failure is not about the twists and turns and forks in the road we encounter on the journey. For in every failure lies a lesson, a seed of wisdom that will be an integral part of the next leg of your journey.

Failure is never having started out of fear of what lies ahead. Out of the fear that we're not good enough, smart enough, resourceful enough. Failure is turning your back on what could be because it's far easier to embrace the safe and comfortable.

Chances are, however, that you had to encounter some kind of set back, road block or obstacle to get to where you are today, either personally or professionally.

When I was in the military, we had to do morning runs which I hated more than anything else. Our Sergeants used to tell us, "Don't stop running! You can slow down, but never stop running". There were times where I did not take this advice and it was near impossible to get back into the cadence of the run with my troops.

So the advice here is to keep moving forward, no matter how fast or slow your progress might be, it is still progress.

So embrace the imperfection of the journey and redefine failure.

Failure Exercise:

This is an exercise I do for myself as well as with clients. It is a great way to use the past as leverage to propel you forward into next-level success. It is very simple, but I believe there is an incredible power and catharsis in writing things down and looking at them as opposed to just trying to keep them all straight in your mind.

Think about all the times in your life that were extremely hard and that you wondered if you would ever get through them. Write them all down. Then write down one good thing that came out of all these. Maybe it was a lesson, maybe it was a new job, maybe it was a new relationship. Whatever it is write it down. Keep this list somewhere you can look at it and pull it out whenever you start to doubt yourself. Remind yourself you've gone through worse and came out OK, and that you will again this time.

Don't Stop Running,

Message From Your Universe: Fake It Till You Make It!

"What are you doing back in time and space?

A-ha! I see. Pretending.

Is it true that the illusions are soooooo captivating, the coffee soooooo rich, and the chocolate soooooo dark, it's easy to forget you're just making it all up? And that if you don't like what you're experiencing you can make-up something else, act "as if" it's true, and move towards it with baby steps, to change absolutely anything?

Yeah, I already know...

Cream and sugar?
The Universe"

I am not saying to be a fake person, but sometimes, you will need to fake the feelings of already making it big so you can train your mind that once it does happen, you will know how to feel. These feelings can be hard to grasp because of the obstacles you are facing at that moment, either it be financial, emotional, spiritual or whatever else. You doubt yourself at times because of the time it takes to make it. You always question your own purpose, your existence on Earth and what is your mission. You feel like there is something missing throughout your journey to reach your ultimate happiness. So what is happiness for you? Is it material wealth? Spiritual or emotional health? What do you need to do today to feel like you have already reach the summit? How long more can you fake it until you make it?

If you talk to a con artist, faking is his/her strength. They fake who they are on a daily basis, and bring havoc to others along their destructive path. They can't decipher the wrong from the right, the truth from the lies. They forget who they are as a person and lose themselves along the way. This is not a productive and effective process when it comes to faking until you make it. Learning to do things the right and honest way, following your dreams and goals and working diligently until you get to where you want to be. Life will push you off your track at times, but it is important to always get back on the pavement and continue your journey to happiness. There is no real destination. It is just an illusion. The same goes with your fitness health. Once you have lost all the weight and reached your ideal body weight, do you feel you need to stop there? Absolutely not. You keep on going and maintain what you have worked so hard for. That destination, no matter which one, has to be maintained and catered for. Again, your destination is just an illusion.

Are Your Dreams Trying to Tell You Something?

Dreams are so interesting! And, I think that most of us have dreams, even if we don't always remember them. But, if you ask them, it has been my experience that most people can remember at least one dream that they had that really stood out. That they can recall details from at least one dream that was not only vivid, but also seemed to have a message or was trying to tell us something.

Part of the reason that dreams are so darn interesting is because they are little insights and can even act as a portal directly into our unconscious mind, or subconscious mind. Which, in my opinion, is the inner part of us where our true self, or authentic self lives. This is where the real us is, which is the part of us that knows what our hopes and our dreams are, and our deepest fears too. Some people call this part of our mind the "Authentic Self" or true self. I believe that this is also where our soul lives, the part of us that is eternal and reincarnates over many lifetimes.

So, even if we don't know something such as a fear or hope or worry consciously, unconsciously they exist underneath. And so, our dreams are little messages directly from our unconscious mind. And, in my opinion, they are trying to tell us something.

Dreams can contain elements of your past, both from your childhood as well as your past lives. People can have dreams that seem to be in a different time period, or in a different place, or maybe they look different in the dream. Or maybe they were a different gender, or a different ethnicity in their dream. It is also common to see people in dreams that maybe you don't recognize from this life, or that it will seem to be in another time or another place.

It is very common for people to experience past lives that come up in a dream.

And sometimes your dream is about the present, meaning the things that you are scared of or worried about right now. These are the anxiety dreams that feature the things that you are fearful of or worried about, even if you don't know you are worried about them. This can also include the things you hope happen, such as your dreams for the future, in the right now.

It's also possible to experience the future in a dream, or rather the possible or even probable future. This is because the future isn't determined, as we are actively creating the future as we go along, with our own choices. So, it's possible to see something that is a potential future in your dream. I've had people tell me that they have experienced something like a déjà vu sensation, a feeling that they have been there before, one of those strange synchronistic moments, that they later realized was something that they had seen before, in a dream. And so, it is possible to experience the past, the present, and the possible future in your dreams.

In my opinion, there are several ways that you can tell if your dream has a specific message and is trying to tell you something.

#1- it seems to be memorable.

You wake up and you remember it, it seems fresh. It also was vivid and there were details. So, if you remember a dream and it seems to be vivid, or if you remember the same dream often and it is incredibly memorable, that might mean there is a message attached to it or something that dream is trying to tell you.

#2- it's emotional.

If you feel a lot of emotion in your dreams, or if it feels very emotional, it might mean that your dream has a message for you. Perhaps your dreams feel fearful, scary, or sad. Or maybe it felt happy. But, generally if a dream has a strong emotion attached to it, it means that there is something coming up from your unconscious that is connected to an emotion that you feel and is trying to tell you something.

#3- it repeats or is recurring.

The third way that you can tell if your dream is trying to tell you something is if it repeats, or recurs, or comes up often. That usually means that there is a message or that your dream is trying to tell you something.

Now, dreams are difficult because the language of dreams is usually that of symbolism. There are dream dictionaries and encyclopedias out there and lots of resources available to look up what your dreams might mean, but in my opinion, at the end of the day the only person that can translate your dream is YOU. This is because the symbolism that comes up in your dreams is specifically yours, or tied to you. They are your symbols, the way that you see them. For example, you might see clouds in your dream and have a really positive association with them from your childhood, maybe connected with a memory of looking at the clouds with your father, being happy, it was a peaceful moment. And so, if you see clouds in your dream, you might associate that with feeling peaceful, feeling loved, or nourished by a relationship. Or, if you remember being terrified on a plane the first time you flew, and looking out the window and seeing clouds and feeling unsupported or unsafe, if you then see clouds in your dream it might be more connected to those types of emotions. So, although dream guides can be helpful, I think that it is you and only you that can truly translate a dream.

So, once you take all of these elements into account, you can start to break it down. Take your journal out, write it down and start to track your dreams. And start to look at them as messages, that your dreams are you trying to tell you something. And that the inner you or unconscious you is trying to tell the conscious mind you something and get your attention somehow. And, since our conscious mind is often mostly asleep, as we go through the motions of life, it is our dreams that put us in touch with that rich, inner self. It helps us find our authentic self.

So, if you start to look at your dreams as a message, from you or your inner self, then it starts to take on more meaning and then you can start to unravel what your dreams might mean for you.

The Time For Self-Care Is Now

Everyone knows the importance of self-care however most people do not practice it on a daily basis. They may be participating in self-pampering or self-indulgence, but these are temporary fixes to a chronic issue. With the holidays approaching, it is important to remember that unless you make a conscious effort to put yourself first, you will continue down the path of stress and feeling overwhelmed. You must have a clear intention to take steps to nurture yourself in order to support others. As women, we tend to fall into the automatic role we have created for ourselves. This then leads us to placing others first, whether it's our children, spouse, friends, or family members. It is not until we end up physically ill, fatigued, depressed, or frustrated that we take that moment to stop because we have no choice.

Well the choice is yours. You can choose to allow yourself to believe you come first and not feel guilty about it. You can choose to see yourself as important enough to refuel and reenergize in order to give what you have to offer to loved ones. Trust me, they will be thankful for it. We all feed off each other's energy, so if you are moody, upset, or unhappy, those energies will have a domino effect to those around you. To change this dynamic you must accept your significance not just within your family and yourself but also in this life. Practicing self-care on a consistent basis improves overall health, makes one a better caregiver, and reduces stress.

What can you do to take better care of yourself? Well, first make the commitment to incorporate a self-care strategy at least once a week, and then slowly work up to a daily practice. Some strategies are:

• Meditation/Mindfulness- you don't need to sit still for 20 minutes while listening to calming music. You can simply be mentally present in every activity you engage in throughout the day. This helps to focus the mind, which allows you to enjoy the moment and relax.

• Journal Writing- writing can give us clarity and organization to our thoughts, which leads to a more focused, less overwrought mind.

• Practice Self-Compassion- be kind to yourself; love yourself; accept your imperfections because that is what makes you perfect!

• Just Say No- you do not have to accept every invitation and be everyone's go to person. For some it may be difficult at first to say no, however it becomes much easier when your realize the pressure has lessened and you have extra time for more enjoyable experiences.

Getting to Engagement, Ownership, and Creativity May Be Easier Than You Think

The way businesses are thinking about themselves is changing and that change is coming fundamentally from the people who make up organisations and the stories they are telling about themselves.

More and more we are sensing that, rather than bringing in experts on creativity and attempting to add onto ourselves the creative imagination we already inherently possess, we are starting to understand the necessity to activate it in ourselves and bringing it out in the questions we ask and the conversations we have amongst ourselves.

There has always existed a simple, almost obvious approach to addressing that which we spend so much in time and resources importing. It might seem paradoxical at first, but increasing engagement and ownership, as well as activating creative thought development can be initiated by deeply listening to what others around us have to say. Often it's about not listening to the words spoken, but rather listening for bigger, wider meaning, or the intention behind the words.

Incredibly this type of listening begins to open doors.

As we continue to listen a space forms and in that space bigger questions appear than might otherwise in a "normal" conversation. These bigger questions arising from deeper listening are often unexpected, surprising and powerful motivators for a shift to take place. As we change the way we show up everything else changes around us.

People begin to notice a difference, not from what is being said, but rather from a different quality of attention they notice around them. This in itself begins to draw people in, to open up a new, still delicate quality, of wonder.

As we are really listened to we begin to respond and yes, we begin to engage. It might feel uncertain at first because we are on a new edge; something new has entered the quality of our conversations.

But what happens when you personally and honestly engage without any necessity for a plan or structure is that you default directly to a creative field. Suddenly you are in creativity; you are treading the new ground actively. And this new ground is a playing field of possibility and potential that requires also a bigger, wider container to hold it in.

Without spending huge amounts on bringing in experts to tell you how to be creative, or how to engage people, you side-step straight to action, straight into the experience of the thing you are wanting more of.

By doing this you connect to the huge field of wisdom already existent within your organisation. It's an aware and intelligent approach, which paradoxically radically innovates the term "Managing People".

And the more you listen to your own organisational wisdom, the more you actively engage with engagement and ownership thereby growing more of it.

It's not about adding on or adding to something as if there was a shortage of it. It's actually about creating the right environments for engagement, ownership and creativity to grow and flourish.

We are all creative. From somewhere I know that to be true. All of us can create including those who consider themselves to be working in the most uncreative and mundane of working environments. It is my belief that in spite of what we actually do in our jobs, or how we might describe what we do, that wherever people exist, also exists the potential for creativity and new stories and narratives to blossom. In short, what exists is the possibility for positive change to happen.

In my line of work people are always stating that they are not creative. It's almost like they've divided everyone into camps - those with and those without it. I sense we generally feel safer in the non-creative camp. Yet time and time again this theory is disproved when we get together and CO-create with teams in organisations. The people I encounter in even the most self-described "dull" lines of work are infinitely fascinating. No matter where we work there are characters and histories; storylines with heroes and heroines, challenges and dramas. It's all there everywhere you go; it's all part of the human experience and it all exists within the human imagination.

It occurred to me recently at an in-house event how we story ourselves into corners and then yearn for something more. We tell the story that what we do is dull and that therefore we too are dull, and effectively believe that story to be true. From there we simply create the actions that affirm the greyness of our story and create what we don't actually want.

Organisations today sense that creativity is needed for growth so they hire in creative experts who then teach them the "how to's". And yet all along there is a creative inside each of us rather stuck and stagnant and (I believe) yearning to get out.

Paradoxically though there is a phenomenon that occurs when creative "types" enter big organisations. It seems that their presence somehow puts the possibility of a new story into the organisational field where a sort of permission giving occurs. People respond to this new creative energy by mirroring it with their own. A participant at a company event recently got intrigued while watching us draw a 'Big Picture' for his organisation. He asked us if we might be able to create an image that visually expressed an idea he had which the picture was triggering for him. What was interesting however, is that as he asked us for help he suddenly had his own answer, his own idea for an image that summed up his idea most brilliantly.

There is so much waiting to happen at work and we are hovering around and beginning to touch on it.

What conversations would you love to have at your work? Where might the edges want to expand in your organisation? What potential do you sense as wanting to happen?

It's Not About You! Avoid This Trick Your Brain Plays on You and Feel Better

I'm sitting on my couch, watching NCIS with my family. In a plot twist, the victim turns out to be the perpetrator in this episode! How dare she! I point my finger at the TV, and exclaim "Bad girl!" Katy, my Wowzer (Westie Schnauzer - think Toto), who is just getting ready to snuggle down next to me, looks at me and starts shaking.

Wait a minute! It's not about you!

I comfort my dog and reassure her she is a good girl. The shaking stops, and she settles down for her nap. Katy (my dog) can let go of hurts pretty quickly!

How often have I overreacted to what someone said to me? How often have I assumed it was about me, when it absolutely wasn't? How often have I tied myself in knots over something that doesn't belong to me? I have to tell you, I am not as quick to let go as Katy is. Luckily, this person can learn new tricks!

There's a name for this type of overreaction - personalization. This is the trick your brain plays on you when you take responsibility for things you have no real control over. It can be the result of a misunderstanding (poor Katy), an effort to be a people pleaser, or even an attempt to be a little manipulative (does anyone out there have a martyr in mind?). Regardless of the reason, it leaves you feeling cruddy. And it's unnecessary. If Katy had only asked, I would have told her it wasn't about her (OK, I did that without her asking).

Personalization increases stress levels by setting you up to think you are responsible for the wrong things. You end up banging your head against a wall with (predictably) no good result. Personalization can lead to anxiety or depression problems. You can release personalization just by pausing to ask yourself, or the other person, if this is actually about you. Then you can learn to concentrate your efforts in areas where you actually have some control. This leads to a greater sense of wellbeing.

What are you taking the blame for that doesn't really belong to you? What could you let go? What could you check out, instead of assuming it's your fault? Who knows, maybe you and I could take after Katy and just relax, instead of working ourselves up over nothing. I wish you reassurance and a good nap!

The Pains, Gains Of Self Talk

Car communication,talk,self talk,inner dialog,communication - free ...
Let us get right into the heart of this matter. What is self talk? Good question.

It is basically about you having a silent, inner talk, or dialogue with yourself. What is your own definition here, beloved reader?

It is about you, your mindset, your attitude, your choice, your fate. Do not accept everything and anything the world throws at you.

The words that come to my mind as I write this piece are: silent, inner, dialogue, repeat, conversation, positive, negative, progress, regress, pains, gains, etc.

You see, there are many distractions and negativities in our world today.

Modern life has the good, the bad and the ugly. Every person you meet daily is either your student or teacher.

So, we need to repeatedly talk with ourselves, to remain focus, not easily distracted, and be positive in our thought, word and deed.

THE PAINS

The pains of self talk come when we do not shield our objective and subconscious minds from distractions and negativities, coming through to us from the outside world.

When a friend says, 'You Cannot Make It', you can decide to accept or reject the statement. You have a choice, free will. We all have, you know.

If you accept this statement of your friend, it influences your mind negatively and stops you from making positive decisions that will lead to your progress in life.

Your friend now decides your life, your destiny, your fate. But he or she is not you God, except you have made the person one, or your sustainer. Bad copy

Daily, the media has a duty of bombarding all of us with news reports on violence, bloodbath, injustice, murder, whatever. As a journalist, I am guilty of this.

Also, there are journalists out there who write positive reports that help to bring about peace and progress in our world. The two sides of journalism.

THE GAINS

We should be positive and constructive in our self talks. If you reject your friend's 'You Cannot Make It' statement, knowing full well that talk is cheap, you will self talk yourself out of the mental trap the person has set for you.

Our inner, silent dialogue helps to keep us focus, not easily distracted, positive in our outlook, peaceful, progressive, and forward looking.

Yes, nobody on this earth plane can be hundred percent positive or negative. Our minds, especially when not trained fluctuate in seconds.

But, we must train ourselves to continuously self talk ourselves in order to remain focus, positive and progressive, despite what the outside world looks like.

How to Recognize Compassion Fatigue

Nurses are particularly vulnerable to compassion fatigue in the specialty areas of intensive care, mental health, pediatrics, and oncology because they enter lives of others during times of critical illness becoming partners as opposed to observers in their patient's health. It is essential that nurses are aware of work stressors and warning signs of compassion fatigue so that work-life balance can be maintained.

Compassion fatigue is not the same as burnout, although they are related. Compassion fatigue is the profound emotional and physical exhaustion that develops over a course of time. It is the gradual erosion of all the things that keep us connected to each other as caregivers. When compassion fatigue begins to set in, we see changes in our personal and professional lives. We can become bitter at work; we may add to the toxic work environment; we are more prone to medical errors; and we may violate client boundaries. At home, we may become short-tempered with out loved ones and feel a sense of guilt or resentment at the ongoing demands on our personal time. This is the "cost of caring".

Burnout is the physical and emotional exhaustion that you experience when you have low job satisfaction and feel powerless and overwhelmed at work. Burnout does not mean that our view of the world has been damaged or that we have lost the ability to feel compassion for others. Individuals who are non-helping professionals experience work-related burnout. Burnout can be easily resolved by changing jobs that provides immediate relief. This is not the case for compassion fatigue.

To develop your warning scale, you must increase your awareness of your own symptoms of compassion fatigue. Do you have any of the following symptoms?

Physical Signs of Compassion Fatigue

  • Physical exhaustion - feeling depleted not just tired
  • Insomnia or hypersomnia
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Increased susceptibility to illness
  • Somatization and hypochondria

Behavioral Signs and Symptoms
  • Increased use of alcohol and drugs
  • Other addictions (shopping, workaholic, compulsive eating)
  • Absenteeism from work
  • Anger and irritability (two key symptoms of compassion fatigue)
  • Exaggerated sense of responsibility
  • Avoidance of clients (not responding timely)
  • Impaired ability to make decisions
  • Forgetfulness
  • Problems in personal relationships
  • Attrition (quitting or taking extended time off)
  • Compromised care for clients

Psychological Signs and Symptoms
  • Emotional exhaustion (the hallmark of compassion fatigue)
  • Distancing; avoiding friends and family
  • Negative self-image
  • Depression
  • Reduced ability to feel sympathy and empathy
  • Cynicism and embitterment (not supporting new ideas; eye-rolling at a new nurse)
  • Resentment
  • Dread of working with certain clients
  • Feeling professional helplessness
  • Diminished sense of enjoyment/career
  • Depersonalization
  • Heightened anxiety or irrational fears
  • Increased sense of personal vulnerability
  • Inability to tolerate strong feelings
  • Problems with intimacy
  • Hypervigilance
  • Hypersensitivity (crying over simple things)
  • Insensitive to emotional content
  • Loss of hope
  • Difficulty separating personal and professional lives
  • Failure to nurture and develop non-work-related aspects of life

Make it Personal - What are YOUR warning signs? Take some time to answer the following questions.
  1. What S/S stand out most for me?
  2. What S/S do I bring home with me most often?
  3. What S/S do I experience at work?
  4. What do I have to lose if I don't deal with the effects of this "occupational hazard"?
  5. What do I stand to gain if I move toward improved self-care?
  6. Who will be the biggest supporters of my self-care?

Poetry Therapy, My Outlet in Managing My Anger

Poetry therapy is the intentional use of poetry and other forms of literature for healing and personal growth. The objective is to achieve psychological well-being and healing through the uses of poetry or other spoken or written media.

But in my case, I used poetry as my outlet in managing my anger. I put everything into writing instead of expressing it verbally since anger is a negative emotion. It is a negative feeling that could destroy relationships and personal self-esteem. It should be managed wisely to avoid its ill-effects in our personality.

Even though anger is a natural emotion, but sometimes it can lead to uncomfortable and uncontrollable behavior as if anger is controlling us. But if we let our feelings out by writing about them, we can reread them and be able to laugh about it once our anger subsides.

Writing our anger out is very healing especially in the form of poetry that can bring up ideas, thoughts, and insights we didn't know were there. Surprisingly, we would be amazed with ourselves.

One thing to be aware of, aggravating our anger is not a good idea. What we need is transformation, by learning how to express and understand ourselves from a different perspective. And this time through poetry writing or composition.

Learning to forgive others and learning to forgive ourselves takes time in controlling our anger. Although, forgiveness is a powerful tool but if we allow anger and other negative feelings to crowd our positive feelings, we might find ourselves swallowed up by our own bitterness or sense of injustice. But if we can forgive someone who angered us, we might both learn from the situation.

When we learn how to work with our anger, we are contributing to our own good physical health and the health of our relationships. Anger is not wrong or bad, the bottom line is in learning how we can harness our anger.

So, the key with anger is balance. Having safe and positive ways to express our anger is very important. It is our capability to train ourselves on how to control our temper and to remain calm.

In fact, we can use anger as a motivation to achieve something. To avoid trouble for instance, we can learn how to keep our cool instead of reacting to the cause of our anger. Although, it's normal to feel angry when we've been mistreated, it only becomes a problem when we harm ourselves or others.

So, why not try using poetry to ease you anger now? If I am able to manage mine, why can't you?

This article is another form of coping up mechanisms in which you can use poetry as a therapy to control your negative emotions. By putting into writing all your disappointments and displeasure, you will be able to minimize being angry; thereby making poetry as an outlet of your anger.

The Ultimate Secret to Self-Confidence!

Royalty-Free photo: Woman holding black framed eyeglasses | PickPik

Do you have a habit of undervaluing yourself and underestimating your own worth? Do you get stuck in fear of doing or saying the wrong thing? Do you wonder what it would be like to feel relaxed, strong, and capable in the face of any challenge? Or, do you find yourself resigned to just getting through the day because you lack the confidence to dare much more?

In this article, you'll discover the secret to where self-confidence comes from and how you can use this secret to break-through to an empowered life of greater success, meaning, and purpose.

Moments of Competence

Now, most likely, you have certain areas of your life in which you feel fairly competent and sure of yourself. You have some degree of self-confidence in these areas.

For example, you might feel confident in your personal style-knowing the clothes, food, or music you like. You may have a skill you've developed, or a specific area of knowledge or expertise. You may have family, friendship, or work relationships in which you feel comfortable and secure.

There have been times, even if they were brief, in which you felt confident in who you are, what you were doing, and your place in the world. Even if it's a fleeting memory, you can build on that.

Take a moment now, and recall a time when you felt confident in who you are, what you were doing, or your place in the world...

Go ahead and jot that down. If more than one moment comes to you-great. Write down one to three of these self-confident moments...

Notice how you feel in your body as you remember one of these high self-confidence moments...

Make note of any sensations and the location of those sensations in your body...

Moments of Failure

Now, on the other hand, you have had moments that made you doubt who you are, your worth, or your place in the world. In the extreme, you may have doubted your very reason for being. It's okay. Don't worry. We've all had those moments. It's important to learn from them, so we can move forward with greater insight about what doesn't work.

Take a moment now to bring to mind at least one moment when your self-confidence hit a low. Maybe you failed at a task, or were criticized for something you said or did. Maybe you were made to feel like an outsider-like you were strange, different, or just didn't fit in.

Go ahead now and write down one to three of those low confidence moments...

Notice how you feel in your body when you remember those low confidence moments...

Notice any sensations and the location of those sensations...

O.K. good. Now that you have a feeling for the contrasting sensations of self-confidence and self-doubt, let's use that experience to go a bit deeper.

Where Confidence Comes From

What if I told you that the secret to deeper self-confidence resides in your gut?

Does that sound crazy?

Let's try a little experiment, so you can begin to see and feel what I mean.

If you would, place your hands on your lower abdomen, focus your attention there, and take a few slow, deep breaths. Feel the gentle rise and fall of your hands in rhythm with your breathing.

Now, as you inhale, imagine that your belly is filling with Life Energy, with the Life-Force from the Source of your being. As you exhale, imagine that Life-Force is spreading outward through your whole body, infusing every cell. Go ahead and do this for ten, slow, deep breaths...

Notice how you feel...

Notice any sensations in your body and where they are located...

Do you feel a little more relaxed and empowered?

Now, that you have a taste of that feeling, here's that little-known secret to self-confidence.

The Ultimate Source of Self-Confidence

The deeper basis of self-confidence is knowing and Trusting in the Greater Power that dwells inside you and is the Source of your life and purpose. This Greater Power endows each of us with gifts for the good of the Whole.

Self-confidence is a feeling that comes from acknowledging and fulfilling "who you are" and "what you are here to do." It is a feeling that comes from acknowledging and fulfilling the qualities, skills, and resources that you have been given. It comes from knowing that you were sent here on purpose to fulfill certain tasks for the good of those around you. It is a feeling of opening to the Greater Life-Force flowing through you.

In our little experiment, you got a small taste of that feeling. I hope you enjoyed that.
