Anger Management Made Easy

Woman Holding Gray Ceramic Mug

Have you ever noticed that your anger is usually directed towards your partner, your parents, your children and your best friends more than anyone else in the world? And do you know why this is the case? How come we end up punishing so often the ones we claim we love so much? In what follows I will explain why and I will also give you five basic steps towards breaking the cycle and start channeling love instead of anger and resentment.

If you have a relationship with someone, you inevitably create expectations. They are supposed to look after you, they have to be responsible, they should to care about you, etc. And of course, every time they violate your laws and can't deliver on your expectations, they score a black point in your memory bank. And you of course keep score very diligently. The more black points you accumulate in your bank, the more resentment you live with and this resentment is directed towards the person you are supposed to love (unconditionally?). The level of resentment you are holding onto will determine the amount of drama you create every time your loved one does something you don't like. They spill the milk, you create drama. They don't call, you create more drama. They fail to apologize, yet more drama.

In contrast, if someone you don't know very well and have less expectations about (i.e. someone you haven't kept score on) does all of the things mentioned above, you are more likely to brush it off and forgive. Why? Because you are not holding onto resentment toward that person (yet!).

In effect, you end up punishing the ones you love (thinking it's payback for all the disappointment they've caused you), and loving the ones you don't know yet (until you've gotten to known them better and figured out that they are not perfect either).

Is there a way out? Of course there is! Follow these guidelines and you can experience life differently:

  • Adjust your expectations!
  • Accept that no one is perfect and everyone is allowed to make mistakes!
  • Don't take other people's mistakes personally! People do what they because of themselves, not because of you!
  • Feel love and compassion towards the people you claim you love! Don't put pressure on them to do and to be what you expect them to.
  • Forgive and forget! Let go and let God!

A New Direction - A Path to Knowing

woman looking through window

We all get to that point in our lives when we have questions that no one can answer.

Our destiny is not often easily reachable sending each one of us to embark on a journey to find or know ourselves.

Sometimes you feel alone, discerning this is your path, solitary quietly yet you find there have been many walking down this lane with you

In our current economic times where there seems so much uncertainty we search for answers.

It's sad as many may live our entire lifetime without ever discovering our potential. Quietly you can hear the answers and guidance - a higher power that is within reach.

Higher Self

This is the power that is within you. It is your REAL self. The real you that has the total consciousness.

The "you" that is connected to the Light that never gets caught up in your daily darkness of emotional turmoil but maintains a divine perspective all through.

This higher guidance or higher self has the instruction manual to help you manage your thoughts, goals, plans, intentions and every emotion you encounter in your everyday life.

All that is required is to connect with your higher self and have faith the answers will come to you.

How to Connect with Your Higher Self

You get disconnected from your higher self any time you see yourself different than you are. You may have learned through all your fears, confusions, tears and anxiety to stay calm. By learning how to connect with your higher self- inner power, you will step into an awareness far beyond. Many are the times we allow our ego to speak, thinking it is our higher self-speaking. There is a difference in the language that differentiate ego from spirit.

It is important to distinguish between the two voices. The Higher self is what guides us to fulfill our path and wishes day in and day out. Connecting to your higher self is done purposely in the following ways:

  • Conscious imagination - Imagination is healthy, especially if it is higher self-imagination as it gives you the right answers you require in life to progress. The higher self gives you answers or advice that is more knowledgeable and wiser than you. It gives you insights into situations that have proved tough.
  • Journaling - Write down questions that have been disturbing your mind and listen up for answers and write them down as well. Journaling can be coupled with listening to your ego but with time, you will realize you are no longer dwelling on your ego anymore. Deeper and more meaningful answers will begin to surface, don't filter, just type all of them. Playing meditative music in the background has been known to work well in this session.
  • Visualization
  • Two Way Conversations

Remaining Connected

Remaining connected to your higher self is very important but fear stands in our way.

Recognizing the Non-Dual States of Acceptance and Integration

Woman Sitting on Gray Rock Near Body of Water

One of the participants in the AAIT Curate Your State program asked me how we know when we have FULLY accepted and integrated an experience. Such a good question. There are some indicators that make it pretty clear that we have lined up with acceptance and integration. The biggest one is that we learn to rely on the evidence of our own experience. AND AAIT has built-in mechanisms to direct awareness to that experience.

We know that being integrated is valuable. We know that acceptance is associated with well-being. But before I started studying with Zivorad, integration was random and elusive. It was certainly not something that I could reliably offer a client. Acceptance was a little easier to recognize and access. Thanks to Dick Olney for that one!

We can tell we have accepted and integrated an experience when there is an absence of unsatisfying energy (thoughts, images, emotions or sensations) associated with the originating problem when we consider it.

We can tell we have FULLY accepted and integrated an experience when we are no longer reactive to the previously triggering experience. There is no future concern about the originating problem. AND, when we encounter the same or similar circumstances in the future, we are not bothered by them.

This absence of reaction is one indication of acceptance and integration. This absence of reaction, absence of energy points to one of the principles of Acceptance and Integration Training (AAIT) that sets it apart from other models of care.

The non-dual state of empty consciousness is an indication and mechanism of transformation.

Ernest Rossi, a deeply respected psychologist, spoke at the most recent Evolution of Psychotherapy Conference in California. Among the points he made was about non-dualism. He referenced how hypnosis was considered with skepticism 50 years ago. Twenty-five years later, meditation was thought to be too woowoo to bring into the therapy room. Now, we have neuroscientists encouraging meditation. Now, he shared, the new frontier for psychotherapy is in non-dual awareness.

I am not alone out here on this frontier of non-dualism and mental health and well-being. When I presented at the Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology last spring, I was among three presenters speaking on non-dualism, and the ONLY presenter with a reliable, practical model. They talked about it in their own work, but no one else presented a model with tools that produce the same promising results with others.

If the non-dual state of empty consciousness is an indication and mechanism of transformation, what is it? How do we RECOGNIZE it?

It is an awareness typified by three states:

  1. Neutrality - empty of thought, image, emotion or sensation.
  2. Non-polar positive state
  3. Vast nothingness

Neutrality is typified by a very neutral feeling that is neither good or bad. Neutrality with a capital "N." It just is. It doesn't feel particularly satisfying or unsatisfying. What's noteworthy is that the original problem no longer has any feeling of associated tension.
A non-polar state, like peace, love, or joy feels to some like a bliss state, a pleroma state. The peace is full enough that it has room for any opposites like worry or anxiety without disturbing the state.

Another expression of a non-dual state is a deep, expansive, spacious and pervasive nothingness. There is no English word I know of that quite captures the essence of this experience. Sanskrit and Pali use the word "sunya" to describe this territory. It means empty and swollen with potential. When in this state, it feels like it contains everything and nothing simultaneously. The deeper practices reveal a transparent awareness of this territory in walking around life.

With AAIT, we learn to access, recognize and gradually stabilize in these higher states. At first, it feels like the resolution of a problem. Then, we glimpse the possibility of stabilizing in steadier states of being and begin, as Zivorad says, "playing a higher game."

In sum, we KNOW we have FULLY accepted and integrated an experience when we:

  • no longer feel charged thoughts, images, emotions or sensations when we think about the situation
  • have no future concern about the problem
  • have considered the problem from any relevant points of view and there is no charge
  • and we no longer react to the problematic stimuli in the same way as we have in the past.

In this way, we rely on the evidence of our own experience, directing our awareness to our inner state and any changes related to the problem we are addressing through AAIT. These are some ways we come to recognize Acceptance and Integration.

Words Are Powerful Seeds Planted in Our Minds

Photo Of Person Holding Cup

Words are powerful for good or for bad. Whether spoken or written, it has the capacity to heal our body, mind and soul.

That is, if we choose our words carefully, constructively, and thoughtfully.

It eventually brings about peace, happiness, unity and progress to us, our family, community, state or nation.

Positive words are powerful seeds in action, planted in our minds. These words heal our world, sooth our balms, comfort those who are in low and high spirits. It is godly, it is universal, and it is humanitarian.

The holy book makes it clear that the power of life and dead is in the tongue. This is very, very true.

On the other hand, words thoughtlessly and carelessly chosen and spread also have the capacity to cause havoc. Karmic law of sowing and reaping in action here, you know.

Our five senses are windows through which impressions come into our minds.

But, it is our duty to take a good look at these impressions. Use our knowledge, skill, maturity, and experience to analyze them.

We could discard some of the impressions that do not agree with our mindset and accept or retain others.

This is where words as powerful seeds are planted in our minds and with time will slip into our subconscious minds.

Our subconscious minds only hear go, not come. Please, do not laugh, only smile. The subconscious mind is unlimited and is linked to the cosmic in it manifestations.

Therefore, it is most likely that what is allowed by the mind to go into the subconscious mind will come to reality eventually, good or bad.

We make decisions every minute of the day. Some of the decisions dwell on what to wear, where to go, what to eat, what to drink, who to go into relationships with, when to get married and when to divorce.

Others could dwell on job, becoming a writer, business, social outing, cars, travelling, education, finance, etc.

I have observed that if I think negative words, especially while falling asleep in the night or during waking hours in the morning, it is not good for my activities that day.

It is most likely to accept my mood, make me a little intolerant, snobbish, and my words and deeds may likely be negative. But, I have the power to choose what and how I think.

But, each time I strive to be positive in thought, words and deeds, my activities for that day looks good.

It is not easy my beloved to maintain a positive outlook in the days, weeks, months and even years ahead. Pretty difficult, but doable.

Problems Are Not Stop Signs But Guidelines

Woman in Green and Red Sports Bra Holding Rope during Daytime
When we have issues never treat them as stop signs, however, as a chance to review our actions and re-align ourselves. By handling and learning from them, we'll have a clearer understanding of however we are able to manage an identical downside within the future.

Accept the challenges as a part of success which stem as a result of a need to attain, not by the need to beat others. Life rarely runs as smoothly as we would like. Every person has problems. This includes issues with cash, health or relationships.

The best thing to do is to try and start out no matter what resources we got. Do what we can to stay the issues from repeating. It suggests that we have a tendency to not learn even a slightest bit. Our greatest weakness lies in abandoning. Keep in mind that the foremost bound to succeed is usually to do only till such time that we have a tendency to already reach or accomplish what we would like in life. After all, life could be a long journey.

We might encounter several defeats however we have a chance to win no matter what. Never let downfalls defeat our resilience. So, to keep us on track with our goals, we need to envision perpetually larger goals.

We need to beat the tug of individuals against us as we reach for top goals.Decide what we would like, decide what we're willing to exchange for it. Establish our priorities and head to work. Remember, priority setting allows us to have an opportunity which of our goals should be accomplish first.

Learn from the past, set vivid, elaborate goals for the longer term, and sleep in the sole moment of our time over that we have no control. Press forward. Don't stop, don't linger in our journey, however attempt for the mark set before us.

When we fail, we learn from the mistakes we created and it motivates us to become stronger and better individuals. Our positive action combined with positive thinking leads to success. Success isn't final, failure isn't fatal: it's the courageousness to continue that counts.

Failure is the key to success; every mistake teaches us one thing.Success isn't an honest teacher, but failure causes us to be humble and strive for more. As long as we retain going, we may keep recuperating. And as we improve, we gain additional confidence. That alone is success.

Desire is that the key to motivation, however it's determination coupled with commitment to an unrelenting pursuit of our goal - a commitment to excellence - which help us realize the what we aim for in life.

However difficult life may seem, there is always something we can do and succeed at. At the end of the day, we are solely responsible for our success and our failure.

Why Can't We Keep Things Simple?

White and Beige Monkey

I love this funny yet wise quote: Monkeys are superior to men in this - When a monkey looks into a mirror, he sees a monkey. ~Malcolm de Chazal.

Interpret it in whatever way you want. But you can't deny that this quote is saying that a monkey only sees a monkey in the mirror. But if you give a man/woman a mirror, he/she would see more than a man/woman.

We have judgments, pre-conceived ideas, interpretations of what if/what is supposed to be and so on. We make it so complicated for ourselves that we become the cause of our misery, granted on some days we allow ourselves to be happy. More often than not, we gravitate towards the negative, and for no good reason.

In our grandparents' time or even great-grandparents' time, things were less complicated. I do not mean that they do not have to deal with their mindsets, but they had less of a challenge because their world was larger than life and anything else. Now, we live in a reality where the world is so much smaller. Speaking to someone thousands of miles away is no longer an issue, our letters sent electronically is received within a second.

With the fast pace, it just means we have become far more impatient for our own good. This adds to our stress levels and in turn, cause our bodies to react, AND in the long-term -- health challenges.

So having a human experience means, we have difficulty keeping things simple. Notice that I did not say "being human means we have difficulty keeping things simple"? This is where many fall into a big misconception that being humans means that we are forever fated for failure and craziness.

Whenever we falter, people will give us an excuse and say, you are just being human. I find no fault in this; however, the issue is that it binds us to this human-ness and we often fall back into this as an excuse not to do better.

Of course, on the other end of the spectrum, we do have perfectionists, who will not allow themselves to make mistakes. And this inevitably translates into misery and disappointment with self and other people.

So what am I saying? Swinging on either side of the spectrum makes us stuck on this idea that being human means we can never reach there. Where is there?

This is not a place, but a state of mind.

While having human experiences means we find difficulty keeping things simple, but being human means something else altogether. I personally believe that this whole thing about the human experience from drama to enlightenment is a pathway for us to become our highest potential.

I read this about two decades ago, and I really like it: the sound HU in ancient Egyptian times was the sound of divinity, and when sounded, it allows us to connect to the inner core of our beings, bringing us back to the essence of our power and to where/when we were created within our hearts.

When combined with the word MAN -- HU-MAN, it means we are mortal beings with our core connected to the sound of divinity.

Isn't this interpretation so divine? I like it a lot. I love to think that all these dramas that we experience will eventually bring us to enlightenment, and this is what being human is all about. The human experiences are merely opportunities for us to find our way. There is no other way to learn and grow except to experience the lessons.

We are not our experiences. They are methods for us to get there.

So when we say we are just being human -- we need to remember this: in all the complications we experience it is our inner urge and desire to become more enlightened.

An enlightened mind simplifies and comes to a full circle of their human experiences and becomes a HU-MAN BEING, in the most real sense.

(Does it mean the monkey is more enlightened than the human? I imagine some of you asking, the answer is of course no. The monkey is simple, but not enlightened because it doesn't have all the human experiences of drama)

So, the next step, how do we simplify and uncomplicate things, and become less affected by drama?

Handling Adversity the Coach Wooden Way

Woman Doing Exercise

John Wooden endured far more than losing basketball games or suffering the agony of defeat, yet his attitude paved the way for him to earn the title of the "Winning-est" basketball coach of all time.

Lesson #1: Life isn't fair; I will still make it great.

Lessons on adversity:

While Coach Wooden was growing up, his family endured the loss of two sisters. Wooden's parents placed their faith in God, and they "persevered".

Later, Wooden's father lost the family farm due to an illness that wiped out his hogs, and drought that killed the crops. His dad, Hugh Wooden, never winced. He understood that "blaming, cursing, hating doesn't help you. It hurts you."

John Wooden understood that "whining; complaining, and excuses didn't accomplish anything." No matter what happens on the court or off, "what you do is more important than what you say you'll do."

Make the best of what you have:

When Coach Wooden accepted the Coaching position in 1948 for the UCLA's Bruins the Men's Gym was used by all the schools other teams and was small and inadequate.

Coach Wooden did not "whine or complain" about it. He did the very best he could with the situation he was handed. He held practices at the Men's Gym. For the Bruins games, Coach moved them to larger facilities in Los Angeles - the Pan Pacific Auditorium, the Los Angeles Memorial Sports Arena, and to other facilities.

UCLA's Pauley Pavilion was built 17 years later in 1965.

Lesson #2: Choose your words carefully.

The words you choose to live with are an extension of your integrity.

When John and his older brother Maurice were in the barn messing around, "Maurice grabbed a pitchfork and flipped a pile of manure at John's face. John lunged at Maurice in anger and cursed at him. Their father, had been standing nearby, but instead of reproaching Maurice for instigating the fight, he came down on John for his foul language."

In the Wooden household profanity was forbidden. Hugh never swore and "made sure John understood the severity of his transgression. Hugh whipped" John "with a switch." Coach said, "It was the only time I remember him using it." ("Wooden: A Coaches Life" by Seth Davis)

After that lesson John never used profanity, and he was fond of reminding other coaches that you don't need to use profanity to motivate players.

So what did Coach Wooden say when he was really angry? "Goodness gracious, sakes alive!"

Lesson #3: When something goes wrong the leader, boss, or coach accepts blame. When something goes right give others the credit!

In 1974 during the NCAA semifinals, the UCLA Bruins were favored to win, but lost to North Carolina State. Coach Wooden accepted "full responsibility for that game, saying that his failure to call a timeout and make adjustments was the reason for the loss."

Coach Wooden modeled how great leadership is "the sharing of ideas, information, creativity, responsibilities, and tasks." He listened carefully during his meetings with assistant coaches for new ideas on how do something better during practice. If the idea worked he would implement it and give the assistant coach credit for it. Coach said, "The only thing not to be shared is blame." Leaders that are strong "accept blame, and give credit, when deserved to others." ("Be Quick-But Don't Hurry" by Andrew Hill and John Wooden)

"When a player scored in a game, Coach encouraged him to give a nod to the teammate who had given him the pass or set a pick for him." ("A Game Plan for Life" by John Wooden and Don Yaeger)

Coach Wooden modeled on a daily basis how to handle adversity to his students, coaches, family members and friends for over 70 years. He knew life would always throw obstacles in your path. He never "whined, complained, blamed or used profanity". Coach made the best of what he had, accepted blame when things went wrong and gave the credit to others.

By following Coach Wooden's 3 lessons for handling adversity, you too will respond well to any adversity thrown your way!

Steal This High-Performance Secret: Boy Scouts Reveal How To Boost Performance & Score An Advantage

Two Women in Front of Dry-erase Board

The other day I was talking with a client about the pinewood derby.

This is where kiddos (typically in Boy Scouts) build their own wooden cars... design them... paint them... and race them against other kids. Growing up, I loved competing it in. All my friends crafted and schemed their car a little bit differently. And each went to different lengths to win.

(Sometimes the parents got a tad more involved than the kids even!)

But there's a lesson embedded in this competition that can be carried over into other areas as well. You see, the pinewood derby is a game of slight edges.

Here's what I mean:

To compete the cars must be a certain weight and cannot exceed a certain size. Besides that, everyone is starting with the same raw materials. But there are little tweaks you can make to your car that adds up to a monstrous advantage.

These include: only have three wheels touching the track (decreases friction)... making the back of the car heavier than the front (boosts potential energy)... and rolling the wheels in graphite (decrease friction)...
Phew... I think that's enough physics for one day.

Here's how this applies:

High-performance and being at your best each day is a game of slight edges too.

Everyone is faced with the same decisions each day. But there are tons of little tweaks you can make that add up and allow you to be at your absolute best.

These include: how you start your day... how you plan your day... how you manage your to-do list... how long you work for... how often you take breaks... how you confront others... whether you multi-task or solo-task... how much time you devote to problems... how much time you devote to solutions... how much time you devote to fun... how much time you devote to relaxation... how much time you devote to meaningful projects... how much time you devote to distractions... how much time you devote to connecting to others... what you do before bed... how much you sleep...

Those are just the tip of the iceberg. But there's a lot to work to with in that just simple list.

Each one of those "tweaks" can make to bring out more confidence... more focus... more productivity... and more fulfillment. But only you know which "tweak" is most appropriate for you.

Pick the one that will make the biggest difference.

And take the first step forward.

Even if it's a tiny one.

The Giver and The Taker

Two Woman in Black Sits on Chair Near Table

The topic is not only intriguing but also interesting too. Both the giver and taker are sincere and truthful within the sanctity of their existential parameters. What counts is the effect of both persons' action and reaction in their dispositions and relationship with others. It could be business, societal and cultural dealings affecting individually and collectively. The giver is more concerned about others and their success. He keeps his own interest secondary and becomes extrovert in establishing a lasting friendship. Whereas, the taker adopts clarity of his mind and implements the plans which suit his main criteria. He prefers challenges and fresh inputs from close associates with whom he is in partnership.

Analyzing the modus operandi of both the giver and the taker it becomes crystal clear that the former's efforts will yield dividends in the long run. Nonetheless, the taker reaps his booty rather quickly. A word of caution for taker; it is unsafe in the long run and also the fruits may not be as per his expectation. Well, it is not the rule of thumb, even though it has its own sanctity within the meaning and concept. It also gets influenced by the environments and changing scenario yet again in a limited sense. This is the drawback when returns, in any form from any disposition, are linked to short-term benefits and profits.

A common concept, in general, is to exert caution and do not reveal your trade and practices secrets publicly. How far this is true is arguable and not substantiated, broadly speaking. However, a cautionary approach is always welcome to avoid confusion among the less informed workforce. The mindset of a giver wholeheartedly wants to share his experience with others. He transforms knowledge down the line to naïve workforce thereby giving birth to new openings in many meaningful ventures. These trivial yet powerful units flourish and benefits are shared among the workforce, in a broader sense. He earns a goodwill among the top hierarchy besides gaining confidence and a lasting relationship with the work force.

Ruminating over these two simple words, "Giver and Taker," we may take detours and look into the aspect of charity. Although it is quite relevant to this topic, yet it is independent of its application. It is said that you impart when you do not sustain; you give fistful and get bucketful in return. It reminded me when as a child while I was in school; I memorized a saying, "Charity for all, malice towards none." A very profound saying which will certainly catapult your ideas and streamline in a direction of being human and humility.

The important leaf you take out of a philosophy of giver and taker is their concept, clarity of mind and judicious execution. At the outset, the concept is common for the two persons in its first stages. It then takes a detour after when clarity of mind gets refocused by external influence. This the point where execution is impacted by good or bad depending on the situation and motive and intentions of concerned people.

On the contrary, when the giver executes his plans with the clarity of mind concept, then he remained steadfast and walk along the path of the well-being of others. Both the persons and their modus operandi reveal the results; it heavily leans in favor of the giver. He not only succeeds in achieving positive results in his favor but also laurels and respect from the one who is helped by him. In most of the situations, the taker meets the end in a distasteful and disrespectful manner. If often leads to criminal proceedings and end in the disaster.

The Degree You Listen To Your Heart And Soul Is The Extent You Will Leave An Impact On The World

Woman Wearing Black and White Brassiere Sitting on White Sand

Fleeting Impulses Of Noise

We've lost our connection to what is important in our lives.

A lot of this relates to forgetting how to tune in to the voice of the heart.

Connecting with your heart and soul is not only for introverts or empaths. Anyone can learn to discern this powerful connection if they develop the faculty.

But why?

What are the benefits of communicating with your heart and soul?

What does a person experience if they become attuned to the wisdom within, instead of paying attention to their thoughts?

In The Winners Manual: For the Game of Life by Jim Tressel, Chris Fabry and John Maxwell, the authors write: "Listening with heart, mind, and soul will move us further along the path toward spiritual excellence."

It's no secret, many people are dictated by the incessant thoughts in their mind. By incessant, I mean the endless chatter that occupies one's mental landscape.

At every turn, the mind is preoccupied with something.

It could be right before you fall asleep, your mind recaps the day's events. These thoughts are meaningless because they are fleeting impulses of noise that keep you awake.

Can you relate to this?

Similarly, many people believe the narrative their thoughts evoke and why wouldn't they?

If thoughts are streaming through your mind many of which are repeated, it makes sense to take notice.

Right?

You are human afterall and because you experience thoughts that means they must be true?

Let's take a step back and investigate this further. It was the French philosopher René Descartes who once said: "I think, therefore I am."

He was referring to thoughts as recognition that you exist. If you experience thoughts, there must be a thinker behind them and hence this is proof you exist.

I would argue even though you experience thoughts it doesn't mean they are true or you must act upon them.

For example, those who suffer mental illness such as Schizophrenia experience destructive thoughts which they act on sometimes. Whilst it is difficult for them to discern whether the thoughts are true, the disorder influences a person's ability to think, feel and behave objectively.

The point I wish to emphasise is that not all thoughts are worth contemplating.

Eva Wong emphasises this notion in Cultivating Stillness: A Taoist Manual for Transforming Body and Mind when she says: "All thoughts arise from the mind. If there are no thoughts, then there is no mind. Thoughts emerge from forms. If there are no forms, then no thoughts can arise."

What is true and constant is the powerful and expansive energy of your soul whereby the heart is the gateway to the soul.

Recognise The Greater Aspect Of Your Life

If you were to get a glimpse of this connection, you will discover the infinite wisdom that guides your life.

To take another view, you may have discovered your purpose or perhaps the notion of it intrigues you. Not everyone's purpose is grand and mighty. Yours might be more subtle such as extending love, joy and happiness to those around you.

The purpose of a Buddhist monk will be different to that of a mother of young children or an executive working in a Fortune 500 company.

It doesn't mean one's purpose is more meaningful than the other, only that it has an intentional role within the framework of the universe.

Therefore, if you wish to live purposefully, it pays to merge with your soul's purpose and bring it to life. When you do, the significance of your life will change, to the degree you experience lasting happiness.

I believe in reincarnation owing to my research and personal experience over the years. I affirm we are spiritual beings having a human experience as the French idealist philosopher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin once declared.

I have no evidence of the existence of a prelife or afterlife. Having taken part in past life regressions, I believe we undergo death and rebirth throughout eternity to experience particular lessons and to resolve past life karma.

There is more to past lives than I have time to go into in this article. If the topic interests you, Dr. Brian Weiss is an American psychiatrist who is considered a leader on the topic.

I don't intend to convince you of my beliefs, but use it to emphasise that when we recognise the greater aspect of our lives, we merge with a larger plan.

I'm not sure what the plan is for your life and perhaps you don't know either and that's fine. You might be still searching and trying to find your way.

Many people go to their deathbed without having realised the greater plan for their life. They are dragged by the opinions of others and put their purpose on hold for fear of upsetting those close to them.

I hope your life doesn't unfold this way because there is little joy in being dictated to by the opinions of others.

Author Michael Hyatt writes in Living Forward: A Proven Plan to Stop Drifting and Get the Life You Want: "If you don't have a plan for your life, someone else does."

Tune In To The Wisdom Of Your Heart

If you wish to impact the world, it commands you to discover the wisdom within your heart and soul.

There is an implicate order within the framework of the universe, even if it doesn't look like that.

A vast and intricate organising system is at work beyond our senses. When we harness this energy, our lives are aligned with a greater intention.

It doesn't matter what your purpose is or how insignificant others might tell you it is.

The only person who will know the importance of your purpose is you. It will only be discovered by making mistakes and trialling many things.

The greatest breakthrough you will make is not to marry your childhood sweetheart or graduate with an MBA or raise capital for your start-up.

Whilst these are commendable achievements, the greatest impact you will make is the legacy you leave behind.

In order for your legacy to be known, it must emanate from a deep desire beyond the faculty of the mind.

Author Carson Pue explains in Mentoring Leaders: Wisdom for Developing Character, Calling, and Competency that leaving a legacy is something we must work hard at, for it has a lasting effect well after we've moved on: "Leaving a legacy means that something is remembered. But it doesn't happen by itself. It's something we have to work at. The legacy we leave behind is the imprint that lasts after we've retired or moved on. It is the lasting impact we've had on others throughout our careers."

Those we consider enormously successful have learned to listen to a greater voice within and are guided by this energy, even amidst their struggles and challenges.

As the French mathematician and physicist Blaise Pascal once declared: "The heart has its reasons which reason knows nothing of... We know the truth not only by the reason, but by the heart."

The heart is the leading edge to the life you are likely to live.

If you get nothing out of this article other than to tune into the wisdom of your heart, you will discover the core of your life's narrative and the unfolding story that awaits you.

Your heart and soul are the centrifuges for the expansive energy of the universe to cultivate its way through you.

When you align with them, your life's journey will unfold in miraculous ways because of your commitment to be what the universe intended you to become.

Why Your Creativity Is Best in the Morning

Woman Sitting on Wooden Floor
Your creativity is something you need and use in all aspects of your life but it does require a high energy level to produce the best results! The fact is the more creative you are the easier it is to solve problems and the more competitive you therefore tend to be as well! Having said all that is there a 'best' time of day when you can expect to be more creative allowing you to blast through problems or produce great new ideas?

Let's explore 3 reasons why the early stages of most days are the most fertile in terms of thinking creatively for most people!

Clutter-Free Mind

Upon arising from what was hopefully a good nights rest, your mind is normally not cluttered from the events of the day! Approaching any situation with the ability to easily focus on it therefore gives you a huge advantage and along with a high energy level it's likely your efforts will be very productive! Think about a typical day and how it may unfold! The news, a phone call or even the most innocent occurrence all tend to populate your thinking as the day progresses! When this occurs your reaction time tends to slow and the thoughts occupying your mind tend to suppress your creativity! Additionally our minds usually continue to try and solve 'lingering' problems in a sub-subliminal manner when we're at rest! Our thoughts and the 'solutions' we come up with when sleeping are still fresh in our minds upon awakening thus allowing for the opportunity to take immediate action on them!

Energy Level

After arising from a night of rest your body always feels better than it did the night before but the mind benefits as well! Having a high energy level increases your ability to focus and to stay that way until the matter at hand has been resolved! Fatigue will definitely slow down how you perform physically however the effects it has on your ability to think are more subtle but just as debilitating! When tired your ability to concentrate is compromised yet it's not as noticeable simply because we tend to find other things less challenging to occupy our time so we still think we're being productive!

The Early Bird is Stress Free

Having the benefit of an early start leaves you plenty of time to learn, organize and even trouble shoot any problems that arise! Lacking sufficient time to address these needs merely places more stress on you thereby further challenging your ability to be more creative in your thinking! The most fertile and imaginative mind is one that has the ability to singularly focus on the subject at hand without having to deal with additional stress factors! Just the simple task of driving a car can be made more difficult and dangerous when your mind is occupied with other issues!

Your creativity is something you count upon and is quite often something you use just about every day! Whether you're trying to solve a stubborn problem or devise new strategies or ways to get things done, all this comes easily when you're at your most creative! Our discussion above focuses on why the early part of the day, when you have a high energy level, is most likely when your imagination and creativity are at their best! We all know our bodies perform better with the right amount of rest so why should our minds be any different?

Message From the Universe: Appearances Can Be Deceiving!

woman standing behind plants

"Do you want to know what the single toughest thing about figuring out time and space is? About finally making progress by leaps and bounds? The one thing that would heal every broken heart and vanquish every emotional pain? That would clear the way for infinite abundance, perfect health, and unlimited happiness?

Not relying on appearances.

Just stop it.

You so can,
The Universe"

Appearances can be deceiving, so avoid basing all your upcoming decisions on these factors. If you want to trust someone, trust yourself. You are the only one who can make changes, especially changes from within. Don't expect the outside world to do anything for you, because no one really cares. Everyone have their own problems to deal with. So if you want abundance, perfect health and ultimate happiness, make sure you do everything in your power to obtain it. Starting with having the right thoughts is a requirement to making all this work well but never forget to put in the action behind these thoughts. If you eat fast food, do not expect to have the perfect health, which will ultimately stop you from being happy because of how you look, which inadvertently will hinder on your desire to have abundance in your life because of your physical condition. Everything in life is interrelated, so don't expect to do one thing and it not having a direct impact on your life further down the road. You reap what you sow, so just make sure that you come out of it a winner. There is no mystery in life, even though it seems like nothing is really straightforward like you would wish it was. It is not because you will work very hard that you will see positive results from your efforts. Sometimes, it can work against you but you shouldn't let that bring you down. In some cases, the route that you took when working very hard wasn't the optimal one and something else is needed to make it a success.

When you hear about someone reaching ultimate wealth, you look at it as being an overnight success. This is how it appears to you, but as you and I know well, overnight for you means something totally different for that successful person. I am sure that you are not ignorant to a point where you think that overnight is possible. Even with incredible and desirable luck, you can't really accomplish this kind of ultimate success in less than 5 to 7 years. Lots get put into the required work and time and sacrifices to make all of what you see happen or exist. That is why so many just give up, regardless of the potential of their idea. Many will not even try because they are too afraid to fail, hence, if I don't try, there is NO chance I will ever fail, so the fear goes away. For others, when they see that the going gets tough, they feel the journey isn't for them, so they just go back to doing what is safe. And for the rest of the 3% of the population who do cross that uncomfortable zone, that journey of insurmountable obstacles, the stress and anxiety, the loneliness, the constant fear looming over their mind on a daily basis, their success is well deserved when they lead the other 97% who decided to give up. So you say overnight success? I digress. Go out there and look for that overnight success entrepreneur and ask them questions about their path to success. You will not be surprised of their answers.

How Do You Cope When You Find Others Sometimes Bothersome?

Photo of Women Talking While Sitting

Why would you find others sometimes bothersome? Simple, it is their problem. They cannot cooperate or relay something they want or expect from you directly. So they nag at you and that is when they begin to pester you and get on your nerves. How do you cope with it? Read on to find out.

Here are a few scenarios and tips:

1) Give them a tactful and diplomatic response without getting mad when they nag at you without giving you any clues. Ask them if you can be of some help to them or if something is bothering them.

You have tried to be open and given them the opportunity to cooperate. If they are unable to communicate, forget the whole stuff and go ahead and enjoy your day. They are the last people on this earth you allow to make you pissed off.

2) They are bothering you by stealing roses from your garden, which you have tended with effort, pouring all your heart into the task. So what do you do? Simply confront and rebuke them strictly but without showing off your temper. Then they will never ever dare to step into your garden again.

3) Your spouse is pestering you with the rate he is smoking cigarettes. It's bad for him, your child and finally you. Without showing your anger, deal with it coolly. First of all bring up the topic of the welfare of your baby child and gradually hit your point. Tell him cigarettes will cause serious harm to your growing baby child. It will seriously affect him as well as you. Can't he think of quitting it? He can get help from a physician. Would he do it? This will make your spouse to start thinking and gradually take proper action.

4) Your little children are bothering you while you are cooking. They constantly demand your attention. Train them to help each other, do something creative and keep themselves busy. You buy them coloring picture books and crayons and teach them in your free time how to color the pictures. While they start to keep themselves busy and you are done with your cooking, look at their work and praise their efforts. That way they will never ever make you pissed off while you are busy.

5) Friends bother you about joining them in workouts or swimming exercises. While these help to keep you healthy and in good shape, you feel other things are more important to carry on in your life. Don't hesitate to decline their offer in a polite way. Tell them: Not now but maybe later when I am more free.

Summing up, those are five subtle ways people can really get on your nerves. Teach yourself to handle those problems in a polite but stern way and then everything should work out perfectly and you can go in your own sweet ways.

Poverty And Poor Mentality

Man Eating

Although the subject expands into sizable length of pages, however, I am exploring the core concept of the theme. It is defined that poverty is multifaceted covering social, economic and political concepts. The body's most basic need is the food. Subsequently, it follows the dwelling, and later it needs to be governed to meet both the ends. Since, our existence from time immemorial until the present era, people are divided into two distinct categories viz; the rich and the poor. However, the not so poor are labeled as middle class.

Poverty which signifies, and associates with poor people have it own checks and balances. The majority of people suffer from economic hardship and drift aimlessly into wilderness of ignorance and become arrogant. This particular aspects boost their unacceptable behavior, which affects the rest of people in the dwellings. Of-course it is not a thumb rule, but it signifies reality of life. It is also a fact that the society in distinctive dwellings faces expectations and experience volatility of human mindset. Here, it is important to evaluate and understand the behavioral pattern under different circumstances.

The affluent class of people influence the law makers to modify rules and regulations, which govern their interests best. Accordingly, the government agencies alter the laws and by-laws at the cost of poor and middle class. It means that these people have to bear the burden of the wealthy people. This starts the resentment and stimulates arrogance among the poor.

The poor and middle-class people prioritize their needs in a myopic way. The reason is very obvious because of their immediate requirements and commitments. Their desire to follow the rich people's lifestyle makes them a victim of materialistic attachments. This rigmarole makes most of them vulnerable and frustration creeps in their mind. Consequently, their mindset adopts a typical mentality which is governed by jealousy. Gradually, this mindset develops a poor mentality which makes deep inroads in their lives' cycle. This damages their thinking to such an extent that even they become rich their thinking remained unaltered.

The part and parcel of stagnant intelligence are the manifestation of their lives' style. It also shapes their personality according to their mindset, which distinctively reflects myopic behavior in their married lives too. This is the crucial point on a crossroad of their scared relationship on marriage journey. The repercussions would be disastrous if measures are not taken in time and appropriately.

It is, therefore, necessary and desirable to ascertain their attitude and views on life prior to tying nuptial knot or establishing friendship. Psychologists and other doctrine of varying faith have expressed unequivocally and clearly to avoid these alliances. They emphasized that being poor is not a crime but having poor and ghetto mentality is cancerous. The lives of people from elite background, financially sound dwellings have suffered the greatest. They consider divorce will not only affect their own lives but also tarnish the children in a profound way. This reason alone is enough to make the poor mentality people to take upper hand.

The alternate is to analyze and carry out daily routine in a more practical aspect rather than follow ritual rites. It is a proven fact that these mentalities have its own views about lives' checks and balances. These people never budge an inch, and they become more adamant and develop a heavy negative mind. They also develop friendship with like-minded people and tried to Influence others to tag along with them.

Poor mentality is the attitude of a particular mindset which thrives on being ungrateful and unthankful. It is the manifestation of ignorance, which fails to see many opportunities in and around. Thus negativity creeps and absolved like wrap and weft of a fabric. A famous saying holds good," One rotten fish makes the pond's water dirty."

It is advised that such people should be treated with caution and mold them gradually to be more broad-minded and better human beings. They should be asked to join groups who are sensible and matured and encourage them to look beyond their narrow mind horizon. They should be reminded that opportunities do not knock the door repeatedly. They must swim with the rising tide failing which they will remain in shallow water.

If You Want to Take Your Mission in Life to the Next Level, Don't Look Outside Yourself, Look Inside

Man Catching Soccer Ball on Field

This is a little story of a boy and a girl who were playing together. The boy had lot of marbles and the girl had sweets with her. The boy asked the girl if she would exchange her sweets for the marbles. The girl agreed and handed over all the sweets to the boy. However, the boy sneaked out the biggest and the most colorful marble that he had and gave the rest to the girl. That night the girl slept well but the boy was restless all night thinking that the girl may have hidden some sweets from him like the way he had hidden the marble.

The moral of the story is - 'What you give is what you get and what you get is what you deserve'. In this case, the boy was not honest and thus had a sleepless night filled with doubt.

How often do we come across people who cheat themselves and blame the rest of the world or curse destiny for their level of existence? By nature most people like to play an inferior game and expect superior results; when results fail to come in, they begin the blame game. Isn't that true?

Introspect and see if you too have been a victim of this self-initiated unfair game of defeat.

While you were in college, you wanted to score a distinction in your academics but put in efforts only to get a second class. What was the result?

While at work, you promised to achieve a certain result but failed to achieve it. Did you and your team really play the game of commitment at level 10?

While attending a training program you expected the trainer to give his level 10, but you never participated at level 10. What was the end result?

Think about it! Why do 1% of people control 85% of the wealth of the world? Why is it that only a handful of people have millions of followers? Why only a few people attain and maintain stardom? Why and how do champions become champions?

The answer is simple - they play their game at Level 10.

You can either believe in destiny or make your own destiny.

Do you think Sachin Tendulkar was destined to become a great cricketer or did he actually steer his life in a manner to become one? When he was barely 8 years he would spend hours practicing cricket, at the age of 12 he was scoring centuries, at the age of 16 years he played for our national team facing the likes of Imran Khan and Wasim Akram. Imagine if he had spent hours watching TV, playing silly games with friends or just lazing around for hours, would he have become an Icon?

At the age of 37, most people ignored his achievements and passion for the game and criticized him for not retiring. And he went to score a double century in one-day internationals, he was the most consistent performer in test matches and was also the highest run getter in the 3rd edition of IPL T20. Imagine if he had to give in to pressure and make compromises, he would not have been the God of Cricket like we know him.

The question is why only him? That is because he plays a superior game and gets superior results first in his mind and then on the field. And by the way, he is not the only one; haven't we heard of Mahatma Gandhi, Nelson Mandela, Mother Teresa, Ratan Tata, Steve Jobs, Andrew Groove, Michael Jordan, Pele, Sergei Bubka, Michael Phelps, Usain Bolt and the list can go on. What made them champions? Level 10 attitude for success!

It Takes Courage To Become Who You Really Are

Man Doing Hand Stand

It takes courage to become who you really are because it means turning into the person you know deep in your heart that you should be. Change takes audacity and willpower. But it also implies getting rid of beliefs you have embraced and implemented from people around you over the years.
What did you really wanted to be when you were growing up? Who did you want to be? What desire does light a fire in your soul?

Most times, people think about things they want to have, who they need to be, and how they would like others to perceive them. But they often let go of the dreams they truly desire and forget to reflect on how to be remembered. Time after time, they identify with memories, holding onto the past, assuming these things are defining who they are.

Yet, it takes an immense amount of courage actually to be who you really are. It is not easy to abandon beliefs and convictions which through the years, you adopted from your parents, relatives, friends, teachers, coaches, mentors, and spouse. And yes, it takes courage and work to let go of those things. But now is the time to take a stand for who you are deep inside, and the things you really believe in.

Examine Your Beliefs
Currently, you have a set of beliefs and assumptions, some of which you accepted way back in your early childhood and defended ever since. Once acquired and imprinted, you rarely question these beliefs. You naturally assume that they are all true.

If, for example, you believe that it is hard to make money; well then, it is difficult to make money. Most people often doubt and analyze almost every aspect of their lives, but their beliefs are the last thing they challenge. It takes courage to change things around.

So, if you have problems in some areas of your life, you need to examine all of your beliefs. If you have financial difficulties, look carefully at your principles about money. You have to pay attention to negative statements or views such as "I never have enough money" or "It is impossible to get ahead." Your beliefs get lodged deeply into your subconscious which continually works at creating your reality.

Making Changes Takes Courage
You have to adopt new life-believing principles, living and thinking differently. If your subconscious is picking up negativity or limiting suggestions too often, then it will accept them as real. It will work with those beliefs, day and night, until ultimately, bringing the corresponding events you hold in your mind.

When you accept limitations about yourself, then you believe that they are real until you find out otherwise. Your mind, convinced, will magnify any incidents that support your view, and will ignore or dismiss events which point to the opposite. It will distort your perception of reality and work overtime to manifest those realities.

So, it takes courage and determination to make changes and be who you really want to be. But if you change your beliefs, you change your focus, and in time it will create a new reality. No one said it would be easy. New thoughts and views are tough to imprint but not impossible.

New Thoughts New Reality
While trying to create new beliefs, you might doubt things are changing. You may feel discouraged and wonder if you are wasting your time. Your mind will try to fool you by telling you that it won't work or that nothing will happen.

However, push all of it aside, continue to feed your mind with the beliefs you want, and be patient. It takes courage to become who you really are. Everything in existence is changing. Nothing remains the same. Your circumstances are forever changing and becoming something else.

So, how could your new thoughts, if you persist in believing and imprinting them, do anything but bring you a new reality? Think about it! Let go of the wrong beliefs you have. Ask yourself about the things you want out of life and become your true self.

It Takes Courage to Let Go
Too often, you get attached to things and people, as if they are a part of you. Then you wonder why you feel somehow broken when a relationship ends or something changes. But those things are not who you are. You are not who you were in the past. And you are not the person some people judge you to be.

Therefore, who you are is the result of what you choose to think and do. It takes courage to let go, grow, and change into the person that you really are, without all of the fuss around you. The word 'courage' is French, and its true meaning is 'heart.'

And so, this why you have to follow your heart to become the person you know deep inside you came here to be. In that way, you will manifest the life you honestly dream to have. You can then have a life where everything you experience is yours and only yours.

How to Get More Courage
In every one of you, since childhood, there is a built-in desire that pushes you to want to explore the untapped potential which lies within you. But most of the time, you are afraid to become who you really are. You do not know how to get the courage to find out what you can be. Yet, if you do not, you will end up working really hard for someone who does.

So, find the courage to do the right thing by choosing for you, and not someone else. You do not deserve to live a stressful life oriented or forced by others around you. Choose based on who you want to be, and then honor that choice with your actions. Let go of what others may think!

And let go of people telling you just to be satisfied with what you have or where you are. You know you have the ability to do and be so much more. However, if you allow yourself to grow, take courage because along your journey, you might doubt your willpower to succeed and the impact you can make.

Courage in Action
As a result, you may have hundreds of other reasons as to why your growth is being obstructed in some areas of your life. But you can change the script of your life by getting more courage and become who you really are. Courage in action pays off!

So, if you want to be you truly, be happy with every fiber of your being, and become your real self, you have to get a life that makes your heart sing and fills your cup with joy every day. Only then, will you find happiness and purpose in life! It takes courage to do some inner work so that you can grow to become who you really are. But you deserve to live life with authenticity, every single day.

Your Everyday Creativity

Woman Doing Aerobics

"But I'm not a creative person!" Does this sound like you? Do you believe that you are not creative because you are not artistic, musical, or prolific with words? Creativity is far reaching and extends beyond imagination. There is much joy in finding passion for anything that is pleasing to do.
Everyone has the ability to be creative because it is a God-given gift. However, you may not recognize your particular form of creativity because it's being measured against someone else's creativity or accomplishments. Just stop that NOW! instead consider how you might express your own brand of creativity in everyday ways.

You might be a person who expresses your creativity through your kindness. I read in someone's Facebook posts that they made up little small bags of essential items (travel toothbrush/tooth paste, mouthwash, soap, lotion, tissues, etc.) that they carry in their car to give away to homeless people. That's a neat idea if you have a heart for helping others. What about the gift of humor? Another person I know uses their improv comedy skills to create short sketch scenes to share with their friends to enjoy.

Perhaps volunteering is a form of creativity that brings you excitement when you are being of service to others. Or maybe you have learned to express your creativity by saying something kind to each person you interact with. Another person I know created a small artsy book of positive phrases that they give to people they meet.

Maybe picking out fabrics and making clothing or blankets is fun for you, or knitting or crocheting for yourself, family and friends. What about planning activities or trips for friends? Last year, I met a guy you planned a cruise for a group of friends, and it was so successful that he now has a million-dollar business planning cruises and group vacations. I also met a graphic designer during a workshop who enjoyed reading enough that she began to write and design books under her own publishing company. Today, she enjoys teaches people how they can do the same thing.

We all have many ways in which we can express our creativity, and expressing it is vital to our well-being and gives us a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction with life. Creative expression will occur naturally when you open your heart to yourself and others, allowing the gift of creativity to flow through you from the spiritual source that is always available to you. New ideas are always waiting to be expressed through you - you just need to open to them and allow the time for them. When you do, you will experience the joy and fulfillment that comes from everyday creativity!

Enjoy (and Create)!

I Don't Like Me When I'm Angry

Woman Holding Her Head

I have to admit, I get angry at times. There are moments when something happens or someone does something, and I get upset. I'm human. Anger is a normal emotional response to things. If you have ever met someone who says they do not get angry ever, then they are probably not being honest with themselves.

However, when I was younger, I would hold onto my anger in a righteous manner. I would almost feed my grudge until it was larger than it originally was. It would take my energy for days and ruin my mood and even affect those around me. The worst part was, when I would run across the person who had so upset me to begin with days or weeks later, they were usually fine and going on with their life. I was the one who was stuck in the black hole of my own negativity.

We are all composed of energy. And unfortunately, negativity seems to affect us more easily and longer than positivity. That is, it tends to take more positivity and more awareness on our part to focus on the positive to combat all the negativity that is around us every day. This is even more vital if we are creating and feeding that own negativity within ourselves.

The Buddha is quoted as saying, "Holding onto anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die." Holding onto anger truly only affects the one holding onto it. The other people can choose to move on with their lives, but in order for you to, you must let it go. This is not always easy but once you do, you will be amazed at the freedom and lightness that will come into your life. Let go of the anger and free yourself from the poison.

PowerTools™
1) Are you holding onto any grudges right now? If so, it's time to let it go. Realize it is in the past and focus on the positive.

2) The next time you get upset, allow yourself to feel it but then let it go. Do not feed the anger or keep making it bigger in your head. Remember, not everything will go your way all the time and that is okay.

3) For the next 21 days, wake up each morning and say one thing you are grateful for. Throughout the day, focus on that positive thing.
