How to Tap Into Your Subconscious Mind for Goal Achievement

Many people set goals but struggle to succeed. Maybe they succeed in one area of their life, but not in another. Yet, we all have the innate capacity to succeed in each area of our lives. We all have a very powerful tool at our disposal to help us do just that: Our subconscious mind. It can even provide the direction on how to take action towards our goals. This article provides three tips to harnessing the power of your subconscious mind for goal accomplishment. These tips can be used when your goals are personal, professional, entrepreneurial or money-wise.

Step 1: Imagine

Your subconscious mind responds to what you imagine through your five senses. If you are a visual person, you are more likely to imagine visually. If you are auditory, you are more likely to imagine through sound. If you are tactile, you are more likely to imagine through touch and feelings. You may also be able to imagine through taste and smell.

You can therefore harness the power of your subconscious mind by simply imagining what things will be like when you have accomplished your goal. You can imagine using your preferred sense modality. Alternatively, you can start with your preferred sense modality and extend into one or more of the remaining four sense modalities in turn. Either way, you would be well-advised to focus purely on what you want. The more time you spend doing this, the stronger and clearer the message you convey to your subconscious mind. Even if you do nothing more, your subconscious mind will place you on a path to attaining your goal.

Step 2: Enrich Your Goal Post

You can enrich your goal so that it includes even more of what you want. In this step, your subconscious mind and your conscious mind iteratively inform one another.

It is as simple as imagining what things will be like when you have accomplished the goal. You can then imaginally step into the future version of yourself who is living life after the goal has been accomplished. Once again, take the time to notice what you will notice through each of your five senses, starting with your preferred sense modality. If things don't look, sound or feel quite right, you can tweak this future until it does fully reflect what you want. Once it does, you can take the time to really immerse yourself in this perfected future.

Future You can then write you a letter, outlining what it was like to have accomplished your goal. Future You can then include a discussion of the steps taken along the way to your goal post and conclude with words of wisdom to help you on your way.

You will be amazed at the ideas that come out as Future You writes you the letter. You will also be amazed at the pearls of wisdom Future You thinks to share with you. You may also find that this exercise brings out more ideas about the goalpost that you had not previously considered.

Step 3: Go For It

You can now document your revised goal and prepare a plan of action. Much of your plan of action will come from the letter from Future You. You may like to set some markers along the way commencing with where you are today until you reach your goalpost. Finally, you may like to think about what are the potential setbacks that might occur, as well as how you might handle them if/when they occur.

Once you have your plan of action, it is just a matter of going for it. You will find the path to your goal much easier because of what you had imagined in the previous two steps. So, the third step is to just do it. If you feel you need a booster, feel free to re-read the letter from Future You, paying special attention to the words of wisdom contained therein.

And for the rest, you can enjoy ultimately accomplishing your goal. With a little help from your subconscious.
