The Nostalgia and Its Impact

Some words or sentences are associated pleasantly or melancholy with individuals reminding their attachment to events and people. Nostalgia is associated with a yearning for the past; Its personalities, and events, especially the "good old days" or a "warm childhood." The past events' profoundness attached to an individual's life reverberate subconsciously invigorating his soul to reflect upon the events. What has transpired or conspired between sub-conscious and conscious state of mind is interesting to prod. I am interested in exploring its scientific, psychological and deceptive aspect rather than political tool and medical condition.

If we reflect upon nostalgia, it leads to different moods and it also stimulus personality characteristic benefiting those who experience it. Different school of thoughts, debate its impact, both positive and negative on individuals. The most important aspect of its positive impact is the existential meaning in one's life. Routledge and colleagues found that nostalgia can not only create meaning, but also buffer threats to meaning by breaking the connection between a lack of meaning and one's well-being. They subsequently concluded that nostalgic people have greater perceived meaning, search for meaningless, and can better buffer existential threat. (Routledge is a British multinational publisher, specializes in providing academic books, journals, & online resources in the fields of humanities.)

One study explains nostalgia as psychological growth; this aspect particularly reflects upon themselves as growth-oriented people. Hollywood remembers Baldwin & Landau an Oscar-winning legacy, has found that nostalgia leads people to rate themselves higher on items like, "I am the kind of person who embraces unfamiliar people, events, and places." Nostalgia also increased interest in growth-related behavior.

The other aspect of nostalgia is as a deception. One recent study critiques the idea of nostalgia, which in some forms can become a defense mechanism by which people avoid the historical facts. This study looked at the different portrayals of apartheid in South Africa and argued that nostalgia appears as two ways 'restorative nostalgia' a wish to return to that past, and 'reflective nostalgia' which is more critically aware.

Apart from the above aspects of nostalgia, a romantic variation is of no exception. In fact, it is a charm encompassed in a subtle yet opaque fading memory of love and affection. This romantic variance is captivated by its very existence. The parting of love and reading of love letters catapults a person's imagination in the wilderness of beauty and satisfaction.

In a 2014 study conducted by Routledge, he and a team observed that the more people reported having major disruptions and uncertainties in their lives, the more they nostalgically longed for the past. Routledge suggests that by invoking the idea of an idealized past, politicians can provoke the social and cultural anxieties and uncertainties that make nostalgia, especially, attractive - and effective - as a tool of political persuasion.

The above factors have unequivocally established that sentimental attachments played a dominant role in nostalgia. However, the heart and mind combined has effectively invoke positive impact rather than negative repercussions. Nostalgic feelings have pronounced effect on women than in men, compared. This is the reason a woman needs a man's shoulder to cry upon and ease their burden. This weakness in women becomes their weak link and they get carried away by men's sleazy intentions (A sizable majority of men take advantage).

Differentiating and integrating the variances of nostalgia irrespective of gender bias has its own importance. It conspicuously shows its telltale effects on individuals in their lives. The benefits are a pleasant memory and charm within the feelings which makes a person happy and provide relief to them. An Urdu couplet depicts a touchy and captivating feeling which will be remembered for years to come and it goes like this:

"Hoped I to meet my love she met in the path in such a way,

My gaze I yearn anxiously, she lowered her glance and walked unnoticed."
