Where Is YOUR Focus?

This is such an important question that we need to continually ask ourselves on a daily and sometimes an hourly basis. Where is your FOCUS?

Are you achieving what you WANT to achieve? Is your life where you DESIRE it to be?

If you are not where you want to be, again I ask, where is your focus?

By focusing your mind you will determine everything that you are and that you can become. You are where you focus.

I believe if you are self-focused and self-absorbed on yourself you can never achieve the outcomes you want.

Put your mind onto others, supporting them to achieve their dreams and desires, and yours will be self-fulfilled automatically. Where your attention is your life will flow. So, if where you are is not where you want to be, change the direction of your attention NOW!

You may need to ask the question, 'What IS focus?' and rightly so for many.

For me it is the skill of concentrated thinking on a particular thing or task. To complete this thing or task, we need to hold our attention to whatever we need to do until we have completed what we set out to do or have in the first place.

We live in a world where there is so 'much noise' both internally and externally, that paying attention is difficult to maintain with all the distractions and setback that continually disrupt us. Our world of technology has made it harder for many to sustain the effort and energy necessary to reach our set goals. We get distracted by the ability to 'play' at the not important things (mobile, texting, messaging, emails, games, TV etc) and not concentrate on the subject that is important for achievement.

We live in a time when self-focus seems to be the 'age of now' and are creating self-absorbed people everywhere. We can't really grow, learn and experience if we are self-absorbed. We need to look outside ourselves and see where we can change what is holding us back from achieving what we really want from our life.

If you are finding that you are not moving forward and feel that the world is against you, you are SELF-ABSORBED! Life is too short to have regrets and every day that you do not accomplish something, is a day lost to you personally. So put your energy into what makes you grow and become who you need to become and then you can become happier within.

I suggest that whatever activity is your centre of interest, make it your focus of attention and see where it will take you. If you focus on what you love to do and experience, this is where you will find you get the greatest impact and sense of achievement. So find what you love and want and make it a lifestyle that will sustain you to fulfillment.

"Tell me to what you pay attention and I will tell you who you are." - Jose Ortega y Gasset

This is such a great saying and so very true. You are a product of your thoughts and actions. Where you pay attention is what you will become. Surround yourself with people who are smarter and have what you desire. You can only then create that as a result.
Knowing what is important to you and your progression throughout life is where your attention needs to be as long as it is not a negative focus on what you can't have at this time. It is essential to be looking forward into the future so setting goals can support you to plan the end-game.

When setting your goals make sure that they are ones that are specific, measureable, achievable, realistic, timely, emotionally charged and rewarded at the end of each stage of achievement. These are SMARTER goals. Appreciate every step of the way knowing that it is bringing you closer to your desired result. Make the goals CLEAR and PRECISE knowing a time frame that is achievable.

If your goals are SMARTER goals as mentioned above you can and will achieve them without being overwhelmed that can happen with not so good goal setting.

Write these down and keep them in front of you all the time so that your focus is put onto the goals continually. This will help you focus to move forward to what you really want. If possible, read the goals out at least once a day as a reminder to continue your movement forward.

A goal can be anything you want and desire. It may be personal or business. It could be something that has to be done so you plan for it, or a fun activity or project with steps that need to be in place to make it happen. It doesn't matter what it is, the stepping stones to reaching the goal is what is important, enjoying the process as you go.

Remember, the journey is often more important than the destination!

Our lives get so distracted these days so planning is important firstly and then creating and focusing on the completion in a timely matter is the next stage.

Remember that,

"Give whatever you are doing and whoever you are with the gift of your attention." - Jim Rohn
