How To Stay Sharp Mentally All The Time

Whether you are in your 20s or 60s, we all have "idiot moments" where we do silly things that we don't normally do.

These mental issues are not limited to old or unhealthy people, a lot of us also have these incidences occasionally.

Here are 5 things you can do daily to keep your mind sharp so that you are always on path to where you want to go.

Tip #1 Stay Hydrated

Your brain cannot function optimally when you are dehydrated. It switches back to survival mode so you won't have enough brain power for mental tasks.

Water is an excellent liquid for oxygenation and detoxification. Personally, I drink at least 2.5-3 liters of water daily.

Not only does this make my skin bright, smooth and healthy, but it also increases my energy level to be alert and focused during work.

Of course if you find plain water too boring, try scented flavors like peppermint tea, earl grey tea, lemon balm tea, or green tea. They all help to stimulate your brain, revitalize your body, and prevent age-related memory loss.

Tip #2 Healthy Eating

Good nutritious food is the foundation of a healthy body, mind, emotion and spirit.

Specifically, supplementing yourself with omega-3 fatty acids like fish oil or krill oil are excellent to keep your brain performing at its highest level.

Of course you don't want to take too much supplements to replace your normal healthy diets. So always consult your physician or nutritionist when in doubt.

Tip #3 Exercise Regularly

You don't need to do lots of crazy workout movements to stay sharp. Just go for a 20 mins walk around the block every day is already a good start for beginners.

Try not to bring your "dumb phones" while exercising, you want a complete disconnect to truly wind down.

Instead, use all of your 5 senses to observe the people, the environment and the little interesting details around you.

This will be a nice combo workout for your mind to exercise your observational skills while you're building strength and stamina in your body.

Tip #4 Maintain Good Posture Wherever You Are

Poor posture leads to poor blood circulation, which leads to poor blood flow to your brain and that's why you can't think clearly.

So sit up straight, stand up tall as if there's a string holding your head and spine, shoulders down, chin up and walk confidently like Harvey Specter. (Haven't you watched the Suits yet?)

Tip #5 Adequate Sleep

If you are sleep deprived, there's no way you can concentrate.

Excessive lack of sleep will build toxins in your brain that's going to prevent you from processing information efficiently.

While the optimal number of sleep varies from people, 6-8 hours will be a good average that you need to feel refreshed and energized the next day.

Common sense often isn't common practice. While these tips sound simple, do not overlook the power of making small things right that's going to yield big results!
