The acronym PAVE stands for: Passion, Action, Vision, and Excellence! First find your Passion because without passion staying the course is much much harder. Take bold purpose driven Action. Define your Vision clearly so you know why you want to hit your goal. Finally strive for Excellence in everything you do.
Once you pave the road to reach one goal, for example, to increase the sales of one product, you can efficiently apply your road map to increase the sales of other products.
PASSION
The difference between success and failure is passion and belief. Here is your litmus test. How deeply do you want to hit this goal? Do you feel passionate about it? Are you willing to do what it takes to reach it? If you do not, change it! If you do, then go for it!
The best way to become a goal hitting expert is to start with one product, follow a road map, prefect it and then roll it out to more products. Having ONE CLEARLY DEFINED goal that you feel passionate about is the key to staying focused.
How many times have you heard that you should follow the SMART acronym to set your goals? And how many times have you set goals that do not come close to being smart. Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-bound. Take a second look at your goal. Is it SMART? "Increasing the sales of my gadget" is NOT a smart goal. "Increasing the sales of my gadgets by 10% before December 1, 2016" is a smart goal.
ACTION
"Our goals can only be reached through a vehicle of a plan, in which we must fervently believe, and upon which we must vigorously act. There is no other route to success." Pablo Picasso
An action plan contains the tasks, interim targets and deadlines you need to take to reach your goal. Break down your goal into sub goals; place them on a calendar or spreadsheet. Assign tasks and the resources you need for each step of the way.
In regards to increasing sales, the minimum resources needed might be sales scripts, presentations, leads, a follow-up system, a referral program and of course a positive and passionate attitude towards your goal and the product you are selling.
Finally, you need to take immediate purpose driven actions. Actions that will take you one-step closer to your goal until you reach it!
The process so far is to 1- Set a Goal, 2- Define your big Why (your passion), 3- Lay out your action plan, and 4-Take action.
VISION
Do you have a clear vision of your end result? How will you feel? How does your success look? and What will you do? Do you have a reward planned? Having a clear image or picture of your goal, more specifically how you will feel or where you will be once you've reached it can help you make it through hard times.
You will run into road blocks while pursuing your goals. How will you stay the course when this happens? Having a clear vision can help you by bringing your passion and belief back into focus and remind you of why you want to hit this goal.
HINT: "If you want to increase your sales, so you can make more money, so you can go on a cruise, then print a picture of the cruise ship you want to be on and post it on your refrigerator, computer or as a screen saver.
EXCELLENCE
No matter what your goal is, do it with the intent to do it well! Improve your skills by 1% daily. You can do this by reading articles, white papers, participating in webinars, seminars or simply by sitting with your staff for 15 minutes once a week to discuss a product or idea.
The pursuit of excellence should be one of your goals as it will help you reach your other goals and aspirations.
I leave you on this: Find your Passion, take purpose driven Action, see your Vision clearly, always strive for Excellence and maintain your Determination. The road to greatness has been paved and a road well paved is easy to travel on!
Thank you for your time. I wish you the best of luck in the pursuit of your greatness!
