27 Tips to Super Boost Your Productivity

You probably have things to do, so let's jump right in. Here are 27 ways that you can produce, improve and maintain productivity in your personal and professional lives.

1. Wake Up Early

As the saying goes, "The early bird gets the worm!" An Early riser has a more productive day, point-blank period. I usually rise early in the morning. For some reason, it just seems like time goes that much slower in the morning. Get more done in the same amount of time or less. Early mornings are also very productive times to complete the most important tasks, as well as start on larger long-term ones.

2. If You Aren't Already, Get Organized

Being organized saves time and money; one of those things, you can never get back. When you are organized, you can readily access your work files and records accordingly. There is something about organizing your work (however proper for you) that settles your mind and organizes your thoughts as well. Regardless of what method works best for you or which organizational system that you choose to use, it will save time being able to get access to what you need, exactly when you need it. This guide will help you get more organized using the best, modern apps

3. Be Punctual

If you are like me, then you hate being late by even a millisecond. It's an enormous waste of time when people arrive late to meetings and appointments. In order to influence punctuality in others, your reputation for arrival should model punctuality.

4. Take Action To Do What You Need To Do

The key to productivity is contingent on you actually doing what you know needs to be done. Beware of falling into the traps of secondary activities that counteract your productivity. Do be reminded that excessive time spent focused on maintaining your productivity system is a secondary activity. Instead, you should focus on doing what you know needs to be done.

5. Practice Using The Magical Word "No."

Pay attention to your energy and focus attentively. From where, and to where is your energy flowing when you are trying to be most effective? Most of the time, saying "no" can be a crucial part of your productivity equation. Even when opportunities come, keep in mind that they might be distractions from the work you already have in hand. Sometimes, you can be most effective by being painstakingly selective.

6. Eliminate Temptations to Waste Time

If you work selling online or are in an online industry, this should probably be listed at number one for you. There are a countless number of distractions online, from social media to streaming music, videos and etc. One way to make sure that your time and productivity aren't wasted is to intentionally immobilize the technology to maintain productivity. Restrict access to sites that distract you while you are working.

7. Go into "Isolation"

It is critical that you remove all external distractions when you find your agenda filled with all high-priority tasks. Focus all of your energy on one task at a time until it's complete, and then move on to the next one. Once all of your priorities are completed, you may reunite with society

8. Prevent Possible Interruption
In order to start and maintain a state of deep focus and concentration, it's important to minimize and prevent interruptions. This way, you can get a momentum or flow going and stay there without starting and stopping along the way. Avert all of the areas that may interrupt you, such as a cell phone, internet or television. Then, take the necessary steps to eliminate any possible interruption as much as possible along the way.

9. The Power Of Threes

Give yourself three must-achieve tasks each day (usually the larger of the tasks) and take short breaks between each one to give your mind a break and switch gears. This will keep you accountable.

10. Plan

Sit down, be still. Take the first 30 minutes of your day to plan the rest of it. Start by making a list of the important tasks that you need to have done today and stay focused on these items. Remember, be as subject matter and time specific as possible.

11. Schedule Your Fun First

Do you want to stop pushing things off and waiting until the last minute? This tip will kill your habit of procrastination. If not, it will reduce it dramatically. By scheduling the fun things first, your mind won't feel threatened when you want to do the work because it will know that the fun is guaranteed.

12. Begin with the Least Urgent Task

The idea here is to complete your tasks before they become urgent. One way to do that proactively is to work on the least urgent tasks first. If that does not work...

13. Tackle the Toughest Nail First

If you are like most people, then you like to start with the easy stuff and complete that first. However, when you end up finishing the easy task first, you might end up procrastinating because you feel complacent and content to have completed something. When we get to the tough parts, frustration and stress set in due to challenges in completing the tasks. If this is the case, it's best to get a head start by completing the worst task first and slowly transition into easier ones. You will feel great to have planned and accomplished so many things by the end of the day.

14. When Productivity Happens, Capitalize

Monitor your schedules for at least five days. Pay attention to how you use your time. Pay attention to where your time goes. Where do you spend the majority of your time? What do you spend the least time on? If you are far more productive at a certain time of the day than another, get more done during that period of time. During your unproductive times, engage in cross-productive tasks such as going to the gym or other activities that require minimal thought, and do the hard stuff only in your productive timings.

15. Use Tools to Increase Your Productivity

With everything that you have on your plate, sometimes it's challenging to continuously keep up with it all. A calendar system, for instance, like Google Calendar, can help in this situation. With this tool, you can easily prioritize and leverage your time on just about any of your electronic devices, plan meetings and hence boost your productivity. Google Calendar can also help you keep track of random appointments and the events for which your presence is necessary. It also has features that allow you to coordinate with business partners by allowing two or more people to synchronize their calendars together.

16. Schedule Like-Minded Tasks Together

When it's time to complete tasks, chunk similar tasks that you have to accomplish together. For example, set aside time to check and post to your business Twitter account, and make posts to your other social media accounts one right after the other. Also, chunk tasks that you usually avoid together, and plan times during the day to accomplish and check them off of your achievement list.

17. Set Time-Sensitive Tasks
Look over everything on your achievement list and identify which ones are time-sensitive. These are the ones that need to be completed that day or that week. Place priority on these tasks, then pick from other achievements on the list to complete.

18. Set Time Limits on Your Work Sessions

Do you want to work less and get more done? A benchmark you can follow is to limit both your work sessions (60-120 minutes) and your weekly output (40 hours). Working hard is not just about the quantity of time. It's about quality as well. To increase the quality of your work sessions, you need to decrease the amount of time. Every one of us has our own personal mix. Find yours!

19. Rejuvenate and Relax

Step outside your immediate task to be refreshed and re-motivated. In that time, get an outside opinion on your website, product placement, blog post, etc. You'd be surprised how often you are standing too close to the problem to see the obvious solution, and a third-party point of view can prove invaluable.

20. Leave Work Unfinished Before Your Break

This little productivity tip will help you to hop right back into the flow of things once you return from your break. Your brain aches for full circle completion. This is actually a famous writing tip from Ernest Hemingway - it's said that he always left the last sentence unfinished, so he could pick up again easily the next session.

21. Take One Thing at a Time

Multitasking is an awesome skill to have in your arsenal. However, multitasking at the wrong time can cut back on your overall productivity. Instead of performing multiple tasks at once, focus on one thing at a time by scheduling out blocks of daytime - or even entire days - for which you believe only for concentrating on one task or one project.

22. Procrastinate Productively

Procrastination, more often than not, is always the number one explanation on the non-productivity list. Most teachings will tell you to avoid procrastination altogether. However, if you find yourself in the seat of procrastination, try to procrastinate on something with a later deadline rather than something frivolous. Knowing what is important and urgent will allow you to prioritize your procrastination most effectively.

23. Plan on Wasting Time

At times, procrastination can seem like an unavoidable part of your work processes. If this is your case, work diligently with no distractions for a set amount of time, and then intentionally give yourself (significantly shorter) blocks of time to be unapologetically unproductive. Planned procrastination will allow you to turn a negative trait, into a positive.

24. Focus On What Really Matters

Not everything is a priority or has the same degree of immediate importance. Determine which tasks are most pertinent and in line with your preplanned purpose for the day. Write a list numbered according to your priorities; then start completing them until you finish. It's usually better to concentrate on one or two priorities and do them really well, instead of doing many things and having mediocre results. This way, you are more selective and effective as you maneuver throughout the day.

25. Define Roles And Delegate Work

If you are spearheading a team, define specific roles and goals for each member on your team and divide work accordingly. As you may know, there are some people who will want to do everything. That person may be you. Plainly defining roles for each individual team member gives everyone on your team more clarity on who does what. You might need skills that are outside of your immediate field of expertise to complete certain tasks. Find others who have those skills and are interested in working with you, or find people who might know someone in their network who would be perfect for it. This increases productivity drastically.

26. Create A Routine to Stick To

Even with a pile of work in front of us, we still find ways to preoccupy our attentions. Therefore, creating a routine to combat your procrastination can easily overcome this. In addition, it will help create healthy productive patterns in your personal and professional lives. This will allow you to find your rhythm quickly and efficiently when it's time to get to work.

27. End Your Day On A Positive Note

Allot the final hours of your workday to some of your least-pressured tasks such as sending thank you reply messages or emails. Ending a day packed full of responsible activity on a positive high note will reinforce your patterns of today for tomorrow.
